— You're left alone with Johnny's friend Simon.

Johnny had offered to help you move over the weekend, offering Simon's help too, in exchange for a case of beer. You were happy to oblige, eager for the extra help and a chance to see Simon again.

Johnny talked a lot about him. It was a given; they worked so closely together, and near-death experiences could really bring people together. You'd grown to know Simon through Johnny, enough to find yourself attracted to the brooding man.

Aside from your developing crush, you were glad Johnny had someone watching his back. Someone that seemed reliable and trustworthy. It was part of the reason why you'd so quickly accepted Simon's help. The way Johnny spoke of him only had you even more intrigued. Every story he told let you piece Simon together, bit by bit. You were starting to take interest in the puzzle of a man.

He was quiet, not much of a talker and his humour was dry. Most people would be off-put by his demeanour, but you liked it. Being so close with Johnny meant that sometimes, a break from the incessant talking was nice. Enjoyable even.

"Just leave it there, I can take it to my room," You said, waving your hand to dismiss Johnny carrying a large box full of sheets and blankets.

"You sure?" He asked, his brow quirked as he lowered it.

"Yeah, yeah," You replied. "It's not heavy. Won't need it tonight anyways."

Johnny nodded, leaving the box on the floor before joining you at the kitchen island.

You handed him a beer, taking a sip of the one in your hand.

"Thanks again," You said.

"Not a problem. Simon's done most of the work anyways."

"I expected as much," You hid your grin.

"Y'can find someone else to move your shite then," He scowled, moving around to sit on the chair. "You like it here?"

"It's not bad. Roomy. Only a few minutes from work."

You sat on the sofa, curling your feet up under you.

"Aye," He nodded. "Better than the last."

Simon stepped out of the spare room, rolling his shoulders before settling beside you.

"'S'all moved in there," He said, lifting his arm to the back of the couch.

"Thanks," You smiled softly. "Let me grab you a beer."

You came back with a beer in hand, passing it to him before sitting back down.

"Cheers," He nodded.

You looked around the room, still cluttered with boxes and random items you'd have to find a home for. Your head fell back, groaning softly.

"I still have a ton of shit to do."

"Wish I could stay an' help," Johnny said, setting down his empty beer. "I've got myself a dinner with my maw. I can stop by after."

"It's alright. I'll stay up and get it done before Monday."

"Maybe Simon could help ya?" Johnny's eyes shifted to Simon, who swallowed a sip of beer.

You avoided Johnny's gaze, knowing he'd be staring at you as your cheeks flushed, suspecting something of your bashful reaction. He'd sensed the attraction between the two of you; you were both too stubborn and proud to admit it.

Simon breathed in, "No plans tonight. If you need the help-"

"You really don't have to," You insisted, your eyes locking with his.

"Don't mind."

Johnny watched the interaction with a small smirk, enjoying the discomfort he created. You sighed, turning to Johnny with wide eyes and an expression that read, 'I'm going to murder you'.

"That's really nice of you," You smiled. "I'll owe you one."

Johnny left not long after, leaving yourself and Simon to unpacking the many boxes left in your living room.

It was silent between the two of you, hardly satiated by the quiet sound of the music in the background. You glanced over every so often, amused by the sight of him hunched over on your floor, rummaging through a box of plates and cutlery.

"Thanks again." Your voice was louder than anticipated, shattering the silence. "For staying to help."

He looked up at you, expressionless, though his eyes softened.

"Not much to do when I'm home," He said. "Beer and company ain't bad."

You nodded- a small smile crawled over you face as you tried not to read too much into his simple statement. You turned back to the box, taking a soft breath in.

"Johnny talks about you a lot," You said.

"He's a good mate."

"Seems to think the same of you."

"You known each other long?"

"Since college."

Silence ascended again, busying yourself with tidying and unpacking.

You blew out a harsh breath, looking over the array of boxes, half-opened around the cluttered living room.

"Don't think this'll be done by Monday," You huffed. "Let's just call it."

Simon smiled, not enough that you'd noticed, but he was amused.

He'd accepted Johnny's offer in hopes of spending more time with you. He despised civilian life. He didn't know how to function in a world without gunfire or imminent death. Despite that, he was okay doing mind-numbing tasks if he could sit and talk to you.

Part of him knew he owed Johnny a thanks for giving the two of you time together, though the other wanted to kill him for putting him on the spot.

You stood up, Simon following, and your foot caught on the nearest box. Simon's hand reached out to steady you, grabbing hold of your bicep before you fell forward.

"Y'alright?"

You nodded. Though inside, you could swear there was a tidal wave of nerves igniting with heat at the touch of his hand.

You stepped around the box, grabbing another couple beers from the fridge.

You rested your back against the island, sipping slowly, your eyes following Simon as he stood across from you. Your fingers nervously tapped the bottle, rhythmic, soothing- it didn't seem to work.

"You- um," You spoke up again. "You like this music?"

He could tell you were grasping at straws, looking for anything to fill the awkward silence. He wasn't one for idle chatter, and he didn't mind the silence, but he could tell his presence had you on edge. He knew you were trying to cover up the nervous habits you had; chewing your lip, bouncing your knee.

"Not bad," He nodded.

"Do you like being in the army?"

He furrowed his brows at the sudden subject change, an amused smile forming across his lips.

"That what you really want to ask me? 'Bout my work?"

"Just making conversation," You shrugged.

"Yeah, it's alright," He tilted his head. "You always so nervous makin' conversation?" He'd struck a nerve; your eyes flashed to his, wide and unblinking.

"Not really," You smiled. "Not really sure how to talk to you," You breathed out.

"I make you nervous?" He set the beer down beside him, moving slowly, predator-like as he inched toward you.

"You make everyone nervous," You teased.

It was a pathetic reach for comfort, for something to ease the building tension in your stomach as he stood before you.

"Don't think that's the case here," His lips were parted, stillness in the air. "You have somethin' else you wanna ask me, sweetheart?" He had his hands planted on the counter, trapping you within the confines of his body.

Sweetheart. The word rolled off his tongue, soft, smooth- it nearly made you melt. Your jugular pounded in your throat- he was flirting with you.

"Do you want another beer?"

He chuckled, low and dry. His head shook, before his eyes landed on yours.

"Would y'let me kiss you?"

You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth, your heart threatening to jump out of your throat, palms tacky with sweat.

"Yes," You said, barely above a whisper, void of any tone, focused solely on his lips as he brought himself even closer.

His lips touched yours softly, hardly enough to feel, though it created sparks in your abdomen. He was gentle, creating a fleeting touch that made you chase after his lips when he pulled back.

Your eyes opened to find his, searching your face, appreciating the flush on your skin, the lust-filled glaze over your eyes.

He didn't hesitate this time, his lips making firm contact with yours, still apprehensive but savouring how good you felt against him. He let out a satisfied but restrained sigh, basking in the utter pleasure, while his hand mindlessly moved to your waist, delicately holding on, pulling you just a bit closer.

asahinagu by kozaki ai (manga/film) → the dynamics between the girls in this are so endearing and inspiring! the protag is a timid girl who decides to join the naginata club (think japanese fencing) when its strongest member saves her from a pervert, as a way to build up her own confidence and strength. it's rly nice to see that she isn't bullied into "manning" up, rather the positive but stubborn reinforcement of her teammates pushes her to change

tokimeki tonight by ikeno koi (manga/anime) → follows the daughter of a vampire and werewolf who has the odd power of being able to change into a carbon copy of anything she bites lol! ranze has to navigate a normal life around this ability, all while falling for a human pretty boy, despite the fact that she's not allowed to fall for a human. great shenanigans, later serious arcs that are engrossing and divine, and ranze is just a rly easy to love character whom i think a lot of girls can relate to

emma by mori kaoru (manga) → good one if you're a fan of historical romance novels, although not as much wish fulfillment. follows two protags, emma and william, who fall in love in victorian england despite class differences. emma's a maid while william's part of the gentry, and obv, that complicates things. really love this one bc i think it grounds itself in a lot of realism. emma's a very well built protag, and it's interesting to see the interplay between her desire to be with william and her recognition of society's reality

skip beat by nakamura yoshiki (manga) → i mean, ok. this is a no brainer, but i'll put it here anyway since it's been running so long, there's bound to be newer audiences unaware of it. kyoko imo is one of the most awe-inspiring shoujo protags at present. she's stubborn and relentless in terms of work ethic but also very humbled by the fact that she's a newcomer to the entertainment industry with much left to learn in order to succeed. the slow burn between her and ren is Agonizing and why i ended up dropping the manga, but nonetheless, she's a wonder to watch evolve

guardian of the spirit by uehashi nahoko (novel/anime) → the protag, balsa, sets out to atone for eight deaths by deciding to save eight lives. she becomes bodyguard to a prince in the process, who's targeted for murder by his dad. balsa's very much the maker of her own life and someone who stands by her decisions regardless of others' influence, which i rly appreciate! it's also rare to see a female warrior protagonist so that's nice too lol

eureka seven (anime) → [plays days by flow and cries] i watched this over a decade ago so my memory is shite but eureka and anemone are my complicated DAUGHTERS whom i would die for please just take my word for it. it's crazy that eureka is kinda the forgotten mecha series on the western side of things bc it became so popular in japan there's like multiple animes and movies and everything idek

the ancient magus' bride by yamazaki kore (manga/anime) → aside from the fact that the anime for this is gorgeously animated and has one of the best osts i've ever heard, chise is a really unique protagonist to watch grow. she's a bit subdued in demeanor due to prior trauma from people treating her poorly due to her lack of control over her magic, but being under elias's (the ancient magus) tutelage allows her to build confidence, control, and a love for the world that she nearly lost due to people rejecting her

claymore by yagi norihiro (manga) → haven't read this in years so my memory's hazy but if you're a fan of berserk or the dark fantasy genre in general, and would like a full female cast, hello! also fun little piece of trivia but when claymores reach like peak power the feeling is likened to a "climax" and the series posits that only women were good at this so. male claymores are no more. idk it's just hilarious to me like yes men are bad at sex!

oresama teacher by tsubaki izumi (manga) → by gsnk's mangaka! about a girl gang leader who gets expelled and has to restart at a new school where a teacher encourages her to head the public morals club, which aims to reform delinquents and improve the school's enrollment figures since it's doomed with drop outs. super funny and from what i remember not rly romance focused so if you're looking for a female mc with slightly different priorities and a less standard personality in terms of shoujo, it's pretty neat

Depends on who you ask. John doesn’t have much of an opinion on it, and generally thinks it sucks. He smokes like a chimney but aside from that, I feel like there’s a certain eeriness to his composure and stillness. Years of dealing with creatures that are painfully powerful, terrible monsters, cruel, bitter gods, has made him highly accustomed to schooling his body language and features to convey both neutrality and a kind of cocksure confidence as though to say ‘I fucking dare you’ as he banks on a reputation both earned and built upon hyperbolic rumours.

6: WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE USUALLY LOOK LIKE / WEAR:

Dark suit (either black or dark blue), tie (properly cinched, ta so very much), usually solid colours, though occasionally red and white striped, white button down or some other pale colour like blue or pink, dark oxfords flats, usually a bit worse for wear, tan trench coat/raincoat, sometimes a black, shorter coat that might be vinyl? (Idek Sean Murphy draws him in this coat and the colouring has the visual coding of a shiny fabric, and it kiiiiinda fits with my vegetarian head canon so idek). Messy hair, frequently stubbled jaw, but I don’t think he’s...slovenly. It’s very trendy now to portray John with a perpetual five o’ clock shadow, but if you refer to the art in the Vertigo series, he’s predominately drawn clean shaven so. I mean. *gestures* Although, I’ll also freely imagine him to one of those guys that has a fast growing beard like he should probably shave a couple times a day.

7. IS YOUR MUSE AFFECTIONATE? HOW MUCH? HOW SO:

Yeah, but it’s a thing that he’s had to struggle with over the years. He grew up with very little affection. Like, yes, Cheryl did what she could, but I think as he grew older, and started acting out more, not to mention her leaving home first being considerably older than John, I think he could be hard to love and frankly still is. So he’s terribly affection hungry and I do believe his promiscuity is part of it. Like, listen, he’s a handsome, charming man, and for him it’s easier to connect with his sexuality more than vulnerable sincerity. Not to say he isn’t ever able to emotionally connect. I think that comes part and parcel just as well. Hey, have I mentioned he’s a mess. He’s just the mess of contradictions in so many ways. He tells Patricia to keep quiet bcs if George finds them with the intruders, they’re dead

M+J find A+P and try to help them escape only for Adrian to say “it’s no use - leave while you still can, please” bcs it’s not like he hadn’t tried to undo the chains but to no avail

He tried to tell them about the keys being in George’s room (bcs in this ver there’s no way he’d keep the keys any place A can get to them)

M+J are kept separately and Adrian knows the shite Mickey’s going through unfortunately (i’m sorry for giving you more ptsd, buddy)

Adrian is kept in the basement while M+J are there bcs no way is he going to be allowed anywhere near the key

Adrian explains the situation to Jules quietly and swap trauma stories

He can’t help Jules but he fixes the bandage on Mickey’s leg and says he’s sorry for Gloria, he knows how that is

After Patricia tells them about the laundry shoot, he tells her that it ends up in Ethan’s room and Ethan’s a creepy doll not a child so get out asap and call for help

She escapes and meanwhile M+A are tortured slightly to tell George what’s going on (Adrian: luk dine øjne, kæreste (close your eyes, sweetheart)) and Mickey escapes

Meanwhile Jules ran up the road and kept running

Meanwhile Adrian can hear G+G talk about killing them bcs if they escape and snitch everyone’s screwed

So they make Adrian OD a little (‘no one’ll question a foreign ex-con ODing’) except Officer Wells came over so he ends up in the gym alone

He finds their coke and he feels sick bcs he remembers the old man but then remembers his daughter and knows he has to do something so he takes the shit and pretends to escape by doing the shoe-toss-and-hide thing

Jules called the cops and Officer Wells knew something was sketchy so they go on their way to the house with more than a couple of officers considering it’s a multiple hostage situation

He grabbed the keys while G+G were in the woods and frees Patricia and they grab the car and go bcs he already knew where the garage door clicker was and they gun it, pun intended, and get shot at but he just gets nicked on the shoulder

They meet up with M+J and G+G get arrested after the cops see the state of A+P plus when they find the recording of the other couples they killed

M+J go to prison for 3 months and get it reduced to 2 for good behaviour

A+P write them letters almost everyday (but they don’t send them all) and somewhere along the line, they realise they’d fallen in love bcs you don’t go through what they did together and not form some kind of bond

A+P are waiting for them when they get out and they go to Florida together and there it is born, Lykke Seashells (lykke meaning good fortune and happiness, that which they had found in each other’s company)

A couple notes:

The complaint about the ending is not baseless. The ending is kind of rushed and looking back on it, I could have written a better version of it. This was one of the earlier fics I wrote (see timestamp, Jan 2014), and so I will fully cop to the fact that people who complained about the ending (and yes, there was more than one) were not wrong

that being said, complaining about it was still a shit thing to do

IDEK why she thought Derek was a pussy in this fic and tbh I don’t care. I have received many complaints over the years that I don’t write Derek as the macho aggressive manly wolf man that he is. What can I say? I like him in soft sweaters with thumb holes, taking care of plants and being a gigantic softy. Is it OOC? Yeah, probably. I maintain that in different circumstances, he could become that way. His protectiveness could easily become gentleness. I love my soft mountain man. Don’t read my stuff if you don’t like it.

regarding it being nothing like DWS and her thinking it would be like DWS but from a different POV, the author’s note at the very beginning literally states: “Beyond the fact that it’s based off the same prompt, this fic is not related to DWS in any way. lastly, it’s possibly important to realize that almost five years later, I still remember this comment. I was able to immediately go to the fic and find it to post here. This shit sticks to authors more than a hundred nice comments. This is the stuff that makes fic authors stop writing. I’m old and grouchy and have attained a pretty thick skin over years of wank, but this particular comment came at about the same time as a very nasty review of TSOIP (“utter shite”, I still remember that one very well too) and although it did not drive me out of the Teen Wolf fandom, it actually did nudge me away from Sterek

Up to that point I had written TSOIP (Sterek-ish at the beginning, later full Sterek), DWS (Sterek), One Door Closes (Sterek), I’m Still up and Driving (Sterek), Tangled Webs (gen with a hint of Sterek flavor), and To Those Who Wait (Sterek)

The next two fics I wrote? Sympathy for the Devil and Something I Can Never Have, two of my first Steter fics. Plus Get Off (me), which had been mainly smut, became a more serious, in-depth fic.

(This was in part because I started to shy away from writing Derek, due to complaints mentioned above.)

I mean, I did get back into writing Sterek, probably in large part because I got the idea for the second installment of TSC, which was very popular, and then I got into Petopher, which often paired well with Sterek (like a fine wine), so yeah. It didn’t drive me out of the Sterek fandom. But it could have, very easily. Ten years previous it almost certainly would have, because believe me, before I was on anxiety medication, that sort of comment would have left me in a spiral for weeks.

I have been re-watching Once Upon A Time and boy do I still love this show. And boy, am I starting to remember why I ditched this show, oh god. It started off as the best thing ever but now? Eh. Mind me, I’m right now on the Neverland arc and I stopped watching right before season 5 finale so I don’t have any clue what’s happening right now on the show, but I still want to make a post to bash it cause hey I have no life. So, my problems with the show so far are:

- They killed Baelfire. Seriously, the premise of the show aka the first curse was created so that Rumple could find Bae. His motives were based on the fact that he wanted to be reunited with his son. And then they killed Bae? Well good job ruining one of the best characters on the way, because after that Rumple’s character has just kinda... been there. Idek maybe if I gave any fucks about Rumbelle I wouldn’t mind but I don’t, so, yeah. (Please don’t get me wrong, I did love the ship when I watched the show back then, but nowadays it just makes me uncomfortable. They should have left it at Skin Deep. That was good.) Oh yeah, also Bae was a good effin’ character so, meh.

- Too much Captain Swan. Sorry, folks, this is just my honest opinion. Again, I do not hate this ship. Well, I did when I first watched the show but it has kinda grown on me, even though I like Swanfire more, but I do like the chemistry between Hook and Emma. Just that... After all that Captain Swan stuff, Emma’s character went from 100 to 0. She isn’t the badass savior tiger mom who loves his son more than anything. And Hook? He lost all his charm for me when he became a good guy. Also, because I love the family relations in the show more than the romance, I think all this CS fanservice just takes too much time for things I love to see.

- Not addressing horrible behavior. Seriously, wtf writers? The characters have done so much shit that is never addressed. Regina raped Graham many times. Zelena raped Robin. The whole premise of Rumbelle is Stockholm Syndrome. Regina was a very abusive mom. Belle can be just as manipulative as Rumple (like, with the dagger thing for example). I get the redemption thing, I really do and I love it, but seriously, you cannot just address some issues and let others just be.

- They killed Hades. That was the reason I stopped watching the show. Like, I really fell in love with Hades, ok. I love the Disney version of him and the original mythology, and the character in OUAT was a wonderful combination of the two. He was a really great character with so much potential and they gave us the best romance ever aka Zelena and Hades and then... poof, gone. Also you literally can’t kill gods wtf

- The fact that no one cares about Rumple. Like. Um, What? I know he’s a huge dick and a villain and all, but he has helped the Charmings a lot in the Enchanted Forest. He has saved their asses multiple times. And during the Neverland arc he redeemed, truly, and saved everyone and sacrificed himself. Then he lost his son and was kidnapped and tortured by Zelena. And no one (except Belle) came to look for him. No one cared. And after that everyone still treated him like shit. He went through so much, probably got PTSD and loads of traumas and no one even invited him to a family dinner or even asked how he was. And then everyone was shocked when he turned evil again. Mind you, Regina has done far more shit to the Charmings but she’s ok? Like... what the hell? This is the thing I’m the most salty about cause... What. The. Fuck. Give Rumple some love and get him a proper therapist.

- Forgetting nice storylines and characters. Nova and Dreamy forever in my heart. </3

- The lack of representation. Ok, I’ve heard that we have some POC cast in the show and that we have a girl couple, too, so points for that, but still... It’s so infuriating to watch two and half seasons of a show full of queerbaiting only to get one scene where Mulan wants to confess her love to Aurora but leaves the scene crying.

- Robert Carlyle’s haircut. Rest In Peace, floof, I still love you.

- Too many damn curses what the fuck.

- Regina and Rumple apparently became a thing for a while. I watched a few clips and I’m traumatized for life.

- Henry became kinda meaningless after Neverland arc. (I still love you boo).

- Rumple didn’t get a song in the musical episode. I’m not there yet, but what the hell is this fuckery? Ok I understand that it would be really damn hard to sing while in character, especially when Robert Carlyle’s singing voice is so sweet and wholesome so I guess I forgive that. (I love Hook’s song, though!)

- The Dark Swan arc. Also Frozen arc. Also Merlin. Wtf all of that was just shite.

I guess this was it. Now I’ll be trying to catch up so that I can watch at least the final episode on time. Jeez, I’m already scared for seasons 6 and 7, cause they seem so... weird. Lol.

I found the original questions on AFF a while back, and I thought since I’ve been tagged in so many meme things lately, I’d also tag a bunch more people in this one XD Since the questions were designed for AFF, I’ve reworked some of them to fit for AO3 writers. I also removed two questions rather than trying to translate them to AO3 terms.  So, I’ll fill out my answers first, and then put the blank questions again at the bottom for you to easily copy and paste! 

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

'Her dust is very pretty' is the last part of a Dorothy Parker poem called Epitaph for a Darling Lady. Dorothy Parker is the only poet I’ve ever liked. I usually detest poetry and find it stupid and annoying. But I like most of hers. I used this as my first tumblr URL too. It’s just kind of my name now. I’ve been using it since 2010. 

2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)

Subs is Chemicals with 177, bookmarks is Neko at 116, hits is Chemicals at  18600, and kudos is Chemicals again with 694. Stats are weird. 

3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it? 

It’s ahegao Kuroko lmaaaaooooo. I chose it cause I love slutty Kuroko. 

4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?

Quite a few actually. Maybe too many to list even... I’d say High_Noon and Goldfasan are the ones I recognise or see the most?

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

I don’t actually read that much fanfiction? Which might be odd for someone who writes a lot of fanfiction. Idk I tend to find a few really good ones and then reread them for eternity and never look for anything new. Though tbh I haven’t read fanfiction for a number of months now. I’ve been too busy, or too stressed (and definitely too autistic). 

6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked? Subbed to 7 fics (most of which are really old and will never be updated, or are friends’ stories). I have 231 bookmarks. Apparently. I have no idea what they all are, because only 30 of them are my OTP, and I only started bookmarking last year, and again, I don’t read much. I think AO3 is lying to me. Likely, as it lists my subs as 67, but I counted them and there’s only 7 in there plus 2 author subs. Conspiracies. 

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

I define AU as ‘completely unrelated to the main plot’ so, if the KnB characters were in fuedal Japan. I use UA (universe alteration) to define things such as if a KnB story followed the general main plot (basketball) but had changes to it, such as omegaverse (though I don’t consider ships UAs). With that said, tbh I don’t think I have one? I write a whole range of stuff. I don’t think I lean towards any particular AU or UA. 

8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

Honestly I don’t think I’m ashamed of anything by this point. I’m probably one of the most non-judgemental and open-minded people you’ll meet, so I kinda have no shame with that. Like, I won’t judge other people for having weird interests, and therefore don’t feel any shame for my own because I see no reason to have a problem with it. If people don’t like my writing they don’t have to read it. No one’s forcing them to. 

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc. 

I’m mostly okay at replying to comments, sometimes I won’t reply if I don’t know how to respond or I’m busy/tired. Unless I feel like there’s no reason to further reply to a comment, I’ll usually try to reply later (sometimes months....). I need to get better at putting description in instead of just rushing through something and shoving it at the internet saying “I’M SICK OF IT JUST TAKE IT HOW IT IS”. Ideally it would be nice to update more frequently and consistently but that’s something that will never change due to my mental and physical health sooo. Whatevs. 

11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?

tbh I think it’s arguable if even the more popular ships I write are even that popular. The most popular ship I write is Akakuro I guess? I do write a bunch of rarer pairs (Mayumibu hghghghgh also Aoaka yes) occasionally though.

12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?

39 in Google Docs. Possibly. I’m half asleep and may have missed some. I have a crap tonne more in MS Word, but I don’t want to count them all. Oh, fyi, these are only for my current fandom. I have other stories in Docs and Word that are original or other fandoms. 

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

Write everything down. Either in a document or just in the notes on my phone.

16. How did you discover AO3?

An uh, ex-something found it in 2013 and showed it to me. I liked it more than FF.net, which always gave me a headache with it’s shitty UI and layout, and Livejournal, which was either dead or didn’t exist for my fandoms back then. Does anyone still even use those 2 sites as their main story platform?

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?

Not at all. I might say I am possibly known or recognised, but I definitely do not think famous or popular at all. Far from it. 

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Does anyone? I’m not published yet lmao and neither am I a Korean idol so uhhh, no, my readers do not have a nickname or fandom. 

19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

I would say no. No one prompted me to start writing when I was little, I just did it cause I liked it. Even when I started writing seriously, and when I started writing fanfiction, it was all me. I guess there have been writers who have inspired me to get better though? Namely Mikssi and goseum-dochi. 

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

I was once told that if you can't think of anything to write just put SOMETHING on the page. Be it a date or a title or an idea. Just get something on the page. I now start every story by dating when exactly I started it (yes even the exact time). It's less intimidating that way. Writing down my ideas also helps me plan. 

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

I often have a general idea or at least ideas for future chapters. But mostly I just bullshit my way through it lmao. It often backfires. 

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

The only negative comment I've gotten on a story that really upset me was once being called insensitive when referring to sexual abuse. It really offended me because. Um. You... do not know my past experiences. At all. And I'm not going to bring them up because of that. But wow. And it bothered me too that they called me insensitive when I was just writing from experience. Like ok. Sure. Cool. I mean I could see where they were coming from, but I’m going to take a guess and say they had never experienced what I was writing about.  I’ve gotten a couple of other negative comments, but they didn’t upset or ‘get to me’ so much as just piss me off due to the stupidity of them. 

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

24. What story(s) are you working on now?

Uhhh, I guess mostly right now I’m working on Nano, and one other story. I have unfinished and ongoing things, but they’re on the back burner right now. 

25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

To a really problematic degree. 

26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

Definitely not. Way too much pressure. Do not need. 

27. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

My god, yes. From my early original (shite) stories of 2007-2009, to my really early (also shite) fandom fics in 2011-2012, to my explosion in the VIXX fandom (at least 80% shite), to now... My goodness. I’m actually in the half-hearted process of editing old AO3 fics to be easier on the eyes. Mostly that’s relatively minor changes. If I went back to AFF. Hoo. I’m highkey scared of looking at some of those again. 

28. What is your favorite story that you've written?

I guess I’d say Chemicals. It’s a story I always wanted to do, and I’m happy with how it turned out. I also have to make mention to NMT, since that thing was my life for like 2 years, and writing it helped a lot. I also am quite fond of what I refer to as my ‘cat vampire story’ aka this. I also don’t mind my story Wanderlust. I think I put more effort into that one than I do with most things I write. 

29. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

MMMMM I can think of it and I don’t want to acknowledge its existence at all. IT NEVER HAPPENED AND IT WAS A MISTAKE. Also NMT. 

30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Probably not published yet but goddamn will I try (not very hard though)

31. What is the easiest thing about writing?

For me it's writing dialogue. Chat room/text message based dialogue is especially fun.

32. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Starting and ending the story (or, if it’s a chaptered story, ending the chapter). Also liking your own work. And not comparing yourself to others. And holding onto the hope that maybe one day you’ll actually be successful and you should keep going. 

33. Why do you write?

idek. It’s fun? Satisfying? It arguably sometimes entertains people? Gives me something to do. Unleash all that creativity bopping around up there. idk. Do I need a reason?
