3 months since I finished Hannibal tv show. Not moving on at all from hannigram.
and here are the fics that i read to soothe the pain and pretend that the mess that is hannigram relationship has been tidied up.
Personal favorites are marked with 🦌 <this is supposed to be a stag but then it turns out to be a goat???>
arranged by time setting.

Season 1 divergence

Book No. 13
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A tête-bêche quarto of two Hannibal fics by emungere, bound for @springkitten, which were exactly the right length to make this a satisfyingly chunky little book to hold.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have to confess I'm only passing familiar with Hannibal, so I had to take a wild stab at the vibes (as Hannibal does at people, perhaps?), but they assure me that these were acceptable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was my first time typesetting from start to finish in Affinity Publisher, and I'm now at that stage where it's not so frustrating to use that I can't appreciate how powerful a tool it is, which is great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also trialled a new method of hot foiling, using a handheld foil pen with a plotter-cut vinyl stencil. I'm really pleased with the results here, which is largely due to the faux-leather bookcloth (also a first for me). It took the foiling beautifully, as well as taking creases nicely and generally being very fun to work with.

hiii do you have any slow burn post fall fics?? it seems like there’s only so few around but they’re my fave kind. i like a more morally ambiguous will, rather than straight up dark will, so that would be nice to read! i appreciate the help
Hello! I'll do my best to find you a few. I haven't read post fall in a while, but I have some that I found a while back, and I hope they'll be to your liking!
This one is long distance, because after the fall, Will is too injured for Hannibal to take him when he runs, so they have to work out a way to get back together later.
This one has time travel hijinks, and I believe it's part of a series of time travel fics, but this is the only one I've read of them. Basically, Will wakes up after the fall, and it's before he ever met Hannibal. So, it might not fall under the kind of fics you're looking for.
This is a one shot, so not as slow burn as the others, but the tension is high because Hannibal hasn't been touching Will since the fall, and it's driving both of them crazy with want.
I only vaguely remember reading this one, because it was a while ago, but it's by emungere, so you can know it's really good.
Another that I don't quite remember the details of, but I liked it enough to bookmark it.
Again, I don't know if this counts for what you want because they're both... dead? It's a kind of The Good Place AU. Again, HigherMagic is a reliable author for me, so you can be sure it's pretty good.
That's all I could find right away (I don't have my bookmarks organized very well) but I hope they're what you were looking for. Don't hesitate to ask for more if.

Two Solitudes by @emungere
After the fall, Will drags Hannibal out of the Atlantic and they find their way north to a remote part of Labrador, where they try to make a life together.
title/chapter headings/headers/page numbers/body text: EB Garamond
54,491 words | 221 pages
I had so much fun with this bind! this fic is one of my favourite hannibal fics, and I had to do justice to it. the prose is beautiful, I enjoy the plot, and I've just thought about it a lot since I first read it. @emungere if you would like a copy, I would love to make you one <3
I did this as an exchange with @celestial-sphere-press because I really wanted to trade books with her, EVEN THOUGH SHE DECEIVED ME AND GOT ME FOR THE RENEGADE EXCHANGE. SO now I guess I'll have two books by her and it'll be great! I wanted to do classical typesetting, to emulate a book I would imagine that Hannibal would have on his shelves, and I thought the cover would also be a great way to do that! I had fun using stencils on my foreedge painting, but I need to make sure that next time I sand the edges really well before I do it, haha. I had to live up to the beautiful copy of Royal Flush that she gifted me.
I'm sure many people who are into Hannibal have read this fic but if you haven't - please do!

When I start designing new decorations for my annual Hanniversary dinner party, I'm not only inspired by the show's magnificent aesthetic, but also, always, by @emungere's themes and imagery.
An antlered body lit from within and spilling over with fruit and flowers and sparkling gems seemed like something they might write. So...

We have the same hannigram fanfic pet peeves lol. Do you have recs for good ones?
Absolutely! These have no common theme or premise so sorry for the whiplash lol
One of my fav Chesapeake ripper reveal reactions from Will. Anything emungere writes is pure art tbh
Post fall. Hannibal approaches Will too fast after an argument. Will flinches. Angst ensues.
Post mizumono. Masquerade ball. Smut. Need I say more?
Will uses Hannibal’s keen sense of smell against him..to seduce him. Love confession via tableau.
Enjoy!

Third floor on the West Side, me and you
Handsome, you're a mansion with a view
Do the girls back home touch you like I do?
Long night, with your hands up in my hair
Echoes of your footsteps on the stairs
Stay here, honey, I don't wanna share
'Cause I like you
This ain't for the best
My reputation's never been worse, so
You must like me for me
Yeah, I want you
We can't make
Any promises now, can we, babe?
But you can make me a drink

Hi! I've been following you forever, since before your change from prompts to writing snippets and I'm a huuuge fan. You are actually my main motivation to continue writing!
I was wondering if you ever posted something more about your inspirations and "backstory", like how you got into writing and publishing your work here on tumblr and then on patreon, while working a job (seriously, how do you do that?!?) and also: do you have a goodreads account? I would love to get to see which books you are reading, since your writing style is so very original, or recommendations about writing blogs here on tumblr.
I totally get it if this isn't the kind of ask you want to answer on your blog, so no worries, just thought I should try..
Have a lovely day! :)
My goodreads is here.
I don't get as much time to read on tumblr as I would like, but some blogs off the top of my head that I like are: @recklessfiction @insomniac-dot-ink (their books are also on my to-read list!) @emungere (I also enjoyed their book, Love under Fire, and am meaning to get around to reading the others!)
@gingerly-writing @yourheartonfire @trappedgoose-in-a-writblr-room @nuttynutcycle @amethystpath-writes @thepenultimateword @creweemmaeec11 @save-the-villainous-cat @caffeinewitchcraft
There are many, many others!
I also generally reblog other people's writing/art/things I find cool on my other blog @the-modern-typewriter-aesthetic
In terms of backstory...I don't know. I've been posting my writing online in some format or other since I've been online as a teenager. I think I had a not-close friend who posted her fanfic online, which made me realise that was an option. So I started and didn't stop. This blog was just a natural progression I guess, when I got more into writing my original fiction over fanfic. It's what I do with my free time. I like writing! (mostly).

which fics do you keep open? i'd love to get some new reading material!
so this ask is in reference to a post i reblogged a while ago about how a good story can really alter your brain rhythm, and how when i try to write, i usually keep a couple of tabs open of a few specific fics that have a writing style i really admire to kind of help keep me on track.
there's obviously tons of fics i love for a multitude of reasons, but these are fics by people whose style i admire specifically, writers who have a knack for precision, ease, and simplicity in their storytelling (all things i struggle with, me and my run-on sentences).
i keep fics like the following open to remind me of what it's possible to achieve, and to get myself in a rhythm that otherwise doesn't come naturally to me.
miss you like a home by @hallo-catfish | matthias & maxime
the dialogue is lively and sparkling, the narrative is rich and thoughtfully introspective. full of deceptively simple images that sit unassumingly in the narrative, but powerfully elicit intimate, subtle, joyful, and painful emotions.
why this fic: a reminder of what imagery can achieve
it's the beginning of a new age by @yeats-infection | good omens
there’s a weighty, beautiful power behind these words, chosen carefully to their greatest effect. the author's sense of place, history, and scene-setting details that locate the story within a particular time and landscape is incomparable.
why this fic: the power of place
the theatre of fear by alivamae | our flag means death
a unique and memorable writer. the scenes are so pacy, and one thing trips into the next in a way that feels very impulse-driven and uncareful, and allows characters to just expose themselves without an excess of consideration. the writing is free and funny and irreverent and full of incredibly visual images and textures.
why this fic: remembering to keep writing free
a renaissance, another day by @tiny-steve | the goldfinch
pretty much in my mind the perfect story. literary in a way that is not overwrought. structurally tight. a sharply-observed, brilliantly-constructed bit of storytelling. uses excellent environmental details to tell us so much about characters in a powerfully pared-down way.
why this fic: less is more is everything
the wave at morning by @emungere | hannibal
a collection of scenes full of raw intensity. plays powerfully with sexual desire and compelling, psychological dynamics. the author hits emotional notes with such accuracy and economy, leaving all this imaginative breathing room around the scenes, which is what makes them so stimulating.
why this fic: a how-to for explicit writing
will as it moves towards deed by yeats | history boys
truly an exercise in simplicity and precision. the dialogue is sparse, but with an emotional punch behind it, and the characters have an expanded life that is suggested rather than told. a brilliant example of showing time passing, using the movement of other people around a centre point, montaging moments of passivity leading to action.
why this fic: simplicity in action
what if birds aren't singing, they're screaming by @drawsaurus | rocketman
a vivid sense of place, this author is brilliant at creating strong, visual landscapes on which exceptionally emotional scenes play out. there's a tangible realness to the setting, which allows the motif-driven jigsaw puzzle-pieces of the story to sit artfully on top. things continue on in the background while bright snapshots come to the front to get our attention.
why this fic: using snapshots to tell a story

hi I love your blog :] can you please share your favorite hannigram fic recs?
omg ty! Yes, ofc I’m always happy to recommend fics <3
1. Five Times Hannibal Visits Will and One Time He’s Already Home by bones_2_be: https://archiveofourown.org/works/28821315
- When Will tells Hannibal to leave at the end of Digestivo, he goes. And then, a few years later, he shows back up. They have long conversations, drink a lot of wine, at the end of it all they find something that works.
This is one of, if not my all time favorite. It’s sooo good and well-paced. All the pining and hannigram conversations and domesticity.
2. Two Solitudes by emungere: https://archiveofourown.org/works/10673940
- After the fall, Will drags Hannibal out of the Atlantic and they find their way north to a remote part of Labrador, where they try to make a life together.
You really can’t go wrong with anything by this author, but this is a fandom classic for a reason and one I always come back to!
3. The Stress-Sex Connection by Shotgun_sinner: https://archiveofourown.org/works/28355106
- When Will gets out of the BSHCI, he resumes therapy with Hannibal Lecter. His stress levels are through the roof, and Hannibal makes an offer that Will doesn't turn down.
This is another author with a repertoire of amazing fics! This one is season 2 honeypot but they have sex and ofc it’s not just sex. To quote the Hannibal script: “the intimacy is striking”
4. Maybe Tomorrow also by Shotgun_sinner: https://archiveofourown.org/works/42674154
- A stranded Hannigram AU, featuring basketweaving and sweaty Will Graham
I had to add another one by them haha. It’s not too long so you can get through in a sitting and it’s basically Hannibal impressing Will with his survival skills, talking it out, and reconciling. it’s another one I come back to often.
5. kiss with a gaze by bleakmidwinter: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27131753
- Will is heterosexual but in love with Hannibal. Complications arise when they finally form a relationship in France.
Pining and basically Will being Hannisexual. It’s actually quite sweet and a good read if you’re looking for something more light, all things considered haha
6. two slow dancers, last one’s out by antiheroblake: https://archiveofourown.org/works/39973092/chapters/100099095
- post-fall, hannibal and will go their separate ways for a time, however they eventually reunite due to disturbing and devastating circumstance
This one is kinda like the first fic on this list except make it devastating. I feel like the author may have been inspired by it, but either way it’s another amazing fic and I sob every time I read it. the author can truly write some heart-wrenching stuff!
7. 208 Days and the Five Stages of Grief by nbcravenstag: https://archiveofourown.org/works/39885039
- Hannibal wakes up in the hospital after the fall and finds out that Will has disappeared, and is thought to be dead. Hannibal knows better though, he knows Will is alive. He isn't grieving. He just... isn't.
Look, Hannibal suffering a bit and being sad is always a good flavor.
8. give it to the dirt by littleneedles: https://archiveofourown.org/works/48641683/chapters/122699131
- Hannibal gets called in to consult on his second FBI case after The Minnesota Shrike; a string of murders connected to New Orleans. While he’s there, he meets a very interesting tour guide for the city. They talk. They argue. And they have much more in common than they may realize.
This is only two chapters in but it’s already one of the best hannigram fics I’ve read! The world-building and description is god tier, the dialogue and characterization is so accurate to them, and I’m in love with it all. Plus who doesn’t love dark Will

for the wip ask meme, please can i have as much as you feel comfortable sharing about 'funk hole' (an inherently funny combo of words, onomatopoetically speaking) or failing that the nanananana HANNIBAL (im assuming hummed to the batman theme tune)!
Thank you! You can have both! :D (oprahwinfreybees.gif )
Ngl, Funk Hole's title choice is like 50% 'oh this would be an attention grabber heh heh' but the phrase was also WW2-era slang, capitalising on the anger/fear that people were using country hotels or resort towns to hide out away from the bombardment and fighting ('funk hole' having originally been military slang for a dugout). The press really went after certain areas for this, including Torquay, where I lived for... like six months at one point, and distracted myself by reading a lot of local history. (side note: the majority of my family's from Kent/London, and when you listen to people's memories, or just look a map of V2 bomb sites, you can extra see why the idea that wealthier folks were just paying to avoid the reality of war generated so much rage.)
So, it's a queer romantic drama set in 1940s south Devon, in a (mostly) fictional quaint little country hotel run by an eccentric old lady, with help from her quiet, bookish nephew, a socialist conscientious objector saddled with the first name Raleigh. Poor bastard. Cue the cast of weirdoes living in the hotel - a mix of neurotic oddballs, well-heeled assholes, self-styled bohemians and Artsy(tm) types - until a new guest arrives: a recently disabled ex-pilot recovering from his injuries, his stay paid for by a wealthy relative.
You know where this is going. But I promise it's going to be an interesting or at least enjoyable journey. Probably. idk, this one's still largely notes on a proverbial napkin, but it's got all that good potential: the dissolving myth of 'England' in the post-Edwardian mess of the early-mid 20th century; the rapidly changing roles and boundaries of class, gender, and identity; hurt/comfort with graphic skin graft recovery (I read multiple books about Harold Gillies and now everyone else must suffer); characters forced to come to terms with lives and worlds irreparably changed by things beyond their control... and so forth. With luck, I might actually get to writing up the first draft later this year.
Aaaand then there's the Batman Hannibal AU, a concept which is largely @emungere's fault and that is the story I'm sticking to. It is entirely skates dangerously close to crackfic and is not to be taken at all seriously.
More beneath the cut if you dare.
Essentially, Hannibal is Alfred. Mischa is Batman, Chiyoh is Robin (kinda), and Commissioner Crawford has a perpetual headache. And Will Graham is... Dog...Man...?
The Lecter siblings coped with the death of their parents in different ways. Hannibal largely withdrew from society while Mischa secretly became The Bat, a vigilante who fights crime but does not kill, despite the fact that assholes are constantly breaking into Lecter Manor to rob/murder the city's wealthiest siblings. Fortunately, Hannibal's there to keep things neat and tidy... and cater spectacular menus for his beloved little sister's charity galas.
Things get complicated when Chiyoh lays a little too much smackdown on one of The Bat's enemies, and they bring him back to the estate to recover. This one's still in super early stages, but I cannot resist sharing the visual that would never ever leave my head. I'm sorry. Not very sorry, though.

Shreds of moonlight glanced off the brickwork and made ghosts of the gasoline rainbows in the puddles underfoot. The alarm still blared in the distance, shrill and ignored. Wherever the figure had gone, they were trapped in the alleys now. No way out. Mischa stole forward, boots silent on the greasy asphalt.
Chiyoh sniffed. “Smells like wet dog.”
Mischa shot her a frown. Rain beaded the tight slick of Chiyoh's hair, as dark and smooth as her high-necked black suit. Behind the mask, her gaze stayed firm. Mischa felt her lips twitch.
“What d’you expect?” she murmured. “It’s rough out there.”
Chiyoh sighed and looked away. Movement deeper in the alley drew their attention, and they crept forward. Mischa drew breath to call out to the thief, but something shifted in the dark.
A dog ran out of the shadows, a scruffy white-and-brown little thing, barking and showing his teeth. He stopped a few feet from them, stubby legs planted determinedly square, and let out the squeaky small dog version of a baying howl, back end quivering with over-excitement.
“Buster!” A voice called from the depths of the alley. “Leave!”
The sound of scrabbling paws and footsteps filled up the dark, and a dog pack of varying shapes and sizes burst from the alley. If Mischa hadn’t known better, she’d have said the scruffy little dog looked almost smug. Beside her, Chiyoh reached for a blade, but her hand stopped at her utility belt as three of the larger dogs pushed forward, growling.
“I wouldn’t do that. They’re… protective.”
A figure all in black—black jeans, black sweater, black hat pulled low over unruly dark curls—melted from the shadows behind the dogs. A small blue backpack dangled from his fingers. The kind people who hiked a lot zipped their pets into so that Fido could carry his own snacks and water bottle. Each of the dogs had one, but something trailed from the unzipped backpack in the man’s hand. Even in the dim light of the alley, the strings of diamonds glittered.
“You’re kidding, right?” Chiyoh said, her tone flat. “The Westerley robbery. And you… put….”
She let out a long, weary breath. Mischa lifted her chin. The subway vent behind her hissed. Steam rose, turning white against the cold. It snaked around her ankles, climbing the sleek black of her cape. If he knew who she was, he didn’t seem to care, and that irked her. All of Gotham knew The Bat.
“Who the hell are you, anyway?” She glanced at the pack surrounding him, each with their own little harness stuffed with ill-gotten gains. Seven sets of jaws panted, each furnished with awfully white teeth. “Dog… Man…?”
He stepped forward and clipped the backpack onto Buster, who lifted each paw obediently in turn, never looking away from Mischa. When the guy straightened up, he didn’t meet her eyes, but he wore a hard, crumpled kind of smile.
“Funny. No. You can call me The Packmaster.”
“I don’t think so,” Chiyoh said.
Her hand moved in a blur. The blade flew, silver against the dark. Mischa caught her breath, and it was easy to fall into the rhythm of their training, to read Chiyoh’s body language as easily as her own heartbeat, and to know she was just as readily understood.
Together, no one would stand against them.

Can I ask your top 10 fav fics ever (from any fandom, if you don't mind)?
Also, just curious, is there a story behind your name "glenflower "?
Wow, this is a fun and difficult question. I'll do my best to list them, but truthfully I consume so much fic that I'm sure ones I've adored have slipped through the cracks in my mind, and ones that I will come to adore I have yet to discover. Still, off the top of my head, sorted NOT by order but vaguely by fandom:
Blackbird - emungere (Hannibal)
Consenting to dream + sequel - emungere (Hannibal)
Ladders + sequels - emungere (Hannibal)
Two Solitudes - emungere (Hannibal)
Bloodline - xzombiexkittenx (Hannibal)
Poison Apple - surveycorpsjean (COD)
Debaser - Sharpthing (Scream)
The Professor's Wife - xxxHOLIC (Foolish Mortal)
New Blood - manic_intent (RDR2)
Poor Wayfaring Stranger - lithos_saeculum (FFXV)
As for my username - "glenflower" is a spin on "glendower", the Welsh king from TRC series, of which I am a massive fan. I've thought about changing it over the years, but my fondness for the name remains.

hi i would personally love recs of hannibal fics that don't feature weaker-than-hannibal-will bc when i joined the fandom i was expecting SO MUCH good fic (and I have found some!!) but a lot of it falls into that category and i HATE IT
heyy, sure i'll drop a few of my fav fics/authors here! i don't know what in particular you like in a fic, but i mainly read post-fall fics so it's mostly that here skdjfshkf
Two Solitudes by emungere
this is like my fav hannibal fic ever, their dynamic and the dialogue is just perfection. emungere is a really good author in general, they have a bunch of great stuff
2. We Killed a Dragon Last Night by inameitlater
basically after the fall will wakes up months before he met hannibal for the first time and he decides to meet him again. it's a three part series, i haven't read part 3 yet but so far it has been great and a real emotional rollercoaster
3. Frozen Lake by sourweather
this is another one of my favourite authors, he just Gets them. this is a short one, just hannibal and will talking about their fears and stuff <3 i recommend checking more of his works
4. he has no use for sails by antiheroblake
yet another one of my favourite authors :D (i become very clingy when i find an author i like sdkfshf). blake is really good at writing about hannibal's trauma/insecurities/emotions etc, this fic in particular also has those themes.
5. Bone of My Bones (& Flesh of My Flesh) by everyday_forever
so this one's literally insane but like. SO GOOD. takes place during dolce and in short, there's some homoerotic cannibalism going on. the writing is just out of this world, just mind the tags if you wanna read
