Are there any good books that are not fantasy romance but more like... romantic fantasy? Like I DO want my romance plot/subplot and I want it to be in focus, but I also want a really well fleshed out and vast fantasy world with high stakes and a lot of action??

There is so much angst potential in the way that Gojo is also Tsumiki’s guardian I feel like it’s making people uncomfortable and they happily ignore if. But like idk. Like i am so insane about this. That Gojo would go and sneak some time for Suguru if not for the fact that he cares about two kids now, one of which isn’t a sorcerer. What would he do if Suguru kills Tsumiki? As a dumb show of how weak and insignificant she is? Gojo would not forgive that and he cant face the reality that Suguru would be ready to kill someone rhat close to him. But it is, thats what Suguru lives for
Idk i feel like we cant ignore how actually fucked up Suguru is. Like genocidal. Like he taught his daughters how to kill and they are legitimately the most fucked up kids in the series, actively enjoying strangling non shamans. Like there is so much shit there is just want to ignore canon entirely but also GOD just imagine Gojo and his desire to show him the kids he’s taking care of but he cant because then Tsumiki would be in danger

Not to mention Voltron and Klance/Allurance in our year 2024 but I find it very telling how they didn't have anything planned for the ending and how they made Lance choose Keith on "The Feud!" by saying "He's our leader, plus he's half-galra so he's like, the future" when a season later he refers to Allura as "the best thing that has ever happened to him".
And yes, you can love somebody to death and yet think somebody else should get to be the one to live, logically thinking, but Lance is pretty much the most emotional out of all the paladins. He's loverboy Lance. He speaks and acts with his heart all the damn time and thinks about the people he loves first and foremost. And I am not saying this is "wooahhh Klance proof!" because we are pretty over that. Just saying it feels like they didn't have shit planned for the last season because Lance (a Lance who is in love with Allura, in theory, from the start) would have never, even if it's logically speaking, let another person that wasn't her get out of there alive. And even if he wasn't in love with her, he has said multiple times how much potential, strength, and importance he sees in her role.
So it is just stupid to make him vote for Keith and say something extremely damn endearing like "he's the future" instead of saying it about his romantic interest.
Not to mention that they could have easily fixed this if they wanted Allurance to be canon. They could've made the bond and conflict Allura has with Keith deeper by making her vote for Keith and saying he is the future for being half-galra (something that is personal to Allura and it would've made more sense for her to say and eat her pride and hatred towards the galra. Character development who?). Then it's just easy to make Lance vote for Allura and make him go "She's our princess and her strength is what the world needs and the universe would be lost without her" or some bullshit like that. And then make Keith vote for Lance because the joke was actually perfect and I have nothing against it and it's pretty in character for him to say "I don't wanna be stuck with him" instead of saying that he truly believes Lance is crucial for the future. And idk, make Pidge and Hunk vote for each other because they are best friends and it makes sense to reaffirm their bond (although I do find really cute and in character their original votes).
I am just saying what we already knew and is that Allurance was so not planned and they could've written a way better build-up. And look, it would've still been shitty and forced and awful but at least it would've been written thoughtfully. Kind of. Instead, we got... Deeper bonding between Lance and Keith? And I am the first one to say that they barely have scenes together with the amount of drama people make about their canon relationship but... Why give these two this moment (plus the other two only emotional and well-written scenes of season 8) that could've been great to build up another romantic relationship?

You are so right with that words "wasted potential".... As much as I love BNHA & JJK, they really are similar with their wasted potentials. Now I still follow them because of the characters......
I may be biased because Izuku is my favourite character but I definitely think that MHA has a whole lot more wasted potential than jjk.
I agree with you both series have very similar problems like:
1) pacing. Jjk has some very fast pacing and the it was incredibly slowed down during the culling games and now it sped up again whereas MHAs is all over the place
2) tension and stakes. Jjk killed a whole lot of characters to the point the reader feels numb about it and the characters don't get time to fully develop whereas MHA does the opposite leaving characters that should of been dead alive and then sidelining them
3) female characters. Both had some very good female characters that were sidelined, killed or just aren't developed or talked about enough
4) the way they handle misogyny. Jjk gives it's misogyny arc to only one character aka maki when multiple characters have talked about it and I think all of them should of had their own insights and thoughts/actions incorporated into the idea. Gege uses noya as a symbol of all misogyny but killing him off didn't kill the idea. MHA introduces sexism and misogyny as early as the sports festival but then does nothing much with it.
5) when it comes to jjk too many characters are killed off when it's too early or they don't have enough development to give the audience a lasting impression which sucks because characters like tsumiki, Yuki, higumara, nobara and uro could of offered so much more to the plot yet they're just killed off for ultimately what used to be an effective way to raise tensions and show the point that the jjk world is harsh.
6) Both series have too many characters. Jjk didn't have this problem until the culling games arc and I think it could of easily dealt with this in a proper way but sadly that opportunity was wasted. MHA on the other hand just has too many characters point blank and too many characters of the same type we have no insight into characters that are from support, business courses or foreign heroes or characters who could simply offer more when it comes to worldbuiling like pony who is an international transfer student
7) MHA severely lacks worldbuiling and jjk lacks worldbuiling to a certain extent I feel like that problem would of been easily dealt with if jjk just focused more on the foreign military invasion plot and how that impacted Japan and Jujutsu society as a whole.
8) both lack academic or relaxing arcs in general. I kinda blame this on the people who made the whole concept of thinking that a non action packed arc is filler when those arcs basically develop characters and their dynamics and can even foreshadow suture events which just makes the writing so much more better. Jjk should of given us more of the Tokyo trio them just doing normal things before tragedy struck and for MHA we should of gotten more academic arcs
Ultimately I think jjk discusses it's themes a whole lot more better than MHA and doesn't face the problems of mixed signals and messages that MHA has. Jjks story and parallels are definitely more interesting and I feel like they just have better types of villains (still waiting for kenjaku to comeback if he doesn't then that sucks) sukuna is a way more interesting villain than AFO 🤷‍♀️(my opinion). I feel like both could of been good stories in their own right if they focused a whole lot more on the factors they lacked that I mentioned previously

I've seen some OMORI fans talk about the "Sunny and Mari's parents were abusive" fanon and this discussion really fascinates me because like. They were certainly not abusive in the game proper because the story doesn't care about Sunny's family enough to elaborate on what kind of people his mom and dad were. I can also agree that a LOT of stories tend to make the main characters' parents abusive as a quick and convenient way to explain their issues, so it's an overused cliche by now.
At the same time, however, as overused as it may be, abusive parents still are quite a solid reason for a kid to end up with significant mental issues. And what OMORI's story lacks is just that - a solid reason why Sunny and Mari were the way they were. Trust me, you don't grow up with low self-esteem or into an overly uptight perfectionist by eating watermelon on the beach, building a treehouse and partying at your besties' birthdays lmao

ever after high is that kind of show for me that has stuck with me throughout all these years.
even if i dont talk about it, even if i dont mention it anymore, and even if i myself do not give priority to it; it is always there.
and yes, i mean this in the sense that it is an ever-present eldritch demon that is sitting on my shoulder and refusing to let me sleep because it just occurred to me at 4 am how many details of the original cinderella’s tale they incorporated into ashlynn’s design.
god bless the doll show.

Shadowsight and Bristlefrost as characters parallel Dovewing and Ivypool pretty well but I just wish that they had become best friends and had the close relationship that their mothers were never able to have with each other

also lex and i just watched the keldeo movie. it sure is a movie that exists
#all we took from it was that vic micogna voiced keldeo so we were just imagining keldeo was edward elric#i saw this movie when it premiered and i only remembered the stuff at the beginning w the swords of justice#and honestly i kinda just wish that was the whole movie#it feels sad bc i like the swords of justice and kyurem but i feel like this movie is just wasted potential. like its just a longer episode#that couldve fit any other kind of pokemon. like ‘’hey this patrat wants to join a watchog club so to win their respect he has to fight an#an ursaring or something and ash helps them get the courage to fight it. like thats all this movie is#plus i feel like its one of the worst looking movies like kyurems hideout is really good and the landscapes are nice#but so much of the film felt grimey and dated compared to the other ones#it not a bad movie per say but it just feels like nothing#and i feel like the swords of justice deserve better given their backstory#this is just like the age of pokemon movies where they mostly rely on the advertising element instead of going crazy#like i dont like to go ‘’ugh its just pandering its just product placement’’ bc it can be that and still be really fun. like mlp g4#but this movie was just like. ‘’eh idk go buy bw2’’#especially bc the kyurem doesnt fit the game lore at all which BOTHERS ME bc its so interesting in the game#but we gotta pit these unrelated groups against each other and its too complicated#nvm we couldve gone the sinnoh trilogy route…. make it a successor of the victini one#echoed voice

Loved ur musings on btas (along with other stuff !) btas Tim to me is just some abomination of Jason with some tim ?? Characteristics that they've put that industry implant's name on.
Which was sort of basically confirmed so you'd probably love watching those eps too ! Just ignore when he's called tim ! That is not him LMAO
his design seems so good,,, i'll do my best to mentally replace 'tim' with 'jason' lol

older Helene/Paris WIP piece
i feel justified in thinking that Helene would just straight up say "That sounds like you're trying to start up a courtship" in this work because she REALLY WOULD SAY THIS in the light novel.
Both her and Paris are really candid people and i like how their honesty still evokes a lot of tension + chemistry between them :Dc So much so i can write stuff like this pre-light novel and I can still see how in-character they are even after knowing LN!them never got together like this (but Helene sure did swear off dating LMAO)

Really hoping “the Mandalorian can be anyone” isn’t a way for them to write off Din Djarin as a character because writers/directors/D*sney can’t decide/agree on a coherent story (for him or Mandalore tbh) or compelling character development especially when the show is built on his character (and Grogu) and in subtitles he is still refered to as ‘THE MANDALORIAN’ and known by other characters through that moniker or ‘Mando’ like what???
