What’s your most hated fandom characterization for each of the main 7?

hoo boy am i glad you asked. although i’m gonna be real, my issue is less with fandom characterization, because you do you i don’t give a shit, and more with how people go batty if you personally are not a fan of fanon characterizations.

like, lemme be obvious and talk about my biggest example. i am a brown eyed lance truther. we know this. the amount of weirdo comments, weirdo DMs, and weirdo asks i get is atrocious. i post a lot of them bc they’re so stupid they’re funny but the amount of people per week that tell me to kill myself is lowkey wild. the amount of people that love to say some variation of “i liked your fic but you ruined it by making lances eyes brown! his eyes are blue!” and i’ve checked other brown eyed truther’s fics — either they delete their comments better than me, or they do not get the same thing. idk what the deal is lol.

i will concede to the point that i’m a contrarian and annoying about it, but a list of the following non-fanon headcanons/characterizations i hold that have been commented on in some derisive way:

- bitchy hunk (lol)

- non “cinnamon roll too pure and baby and good for this world” hunk*

- allura is a good character (🤡)**

- allura is a sweetheart

- allura is not a drill sergeant

- kuron was a good iteration of shiro

- red paladin lance/black paladin keith/blue paladin allura

- pidge is not cruel

- pidge is not an infant and can handle things a regular 14-15 year old can handle

- small details are irrelevant (think lances family, exact prekerb details, etc)

- keith gyeong and lance sanchez

- fucking brown eyed lance. i’m saying it again

- non omega keith***

- autistic lance

- adhd keith

- non asshole/cruel keith

- comphetting gay lance****

- bi shiro, demi keith, essentially any sexuality headcanon that isn’t mainstream

**the allura hate is ridiculous and largely rooted in anti-Blackness. it should not be a fight to say that she had a reason to feel betrayed by keith’s heritage, that she did not “get in the way” of klance, that her death was stupid and ridiculous, that she is often pushed over in favour of klance (not as in she’s less popular, but that her/her death are used as a plot device to further klance), and that she is as interesting, nuanced, and multifaceted as the rest of them.

***people, inevitably, feminize characters in fandoms (largely because many people in fandom are young women, i know i feminize characters simply bc i’m making them like me and i’m feminine lol), and my issue is that people (in the general sense, not everybody) love to feminize keith and then get really mad if anyone else is feminized. this is not about fem or trans woman keith btw. this is about people omega-ifying him and then losing their MINDS if i don’t share that headcanon.

****i literally only wrote this once and then never again because people lost their minds. but as much as i love bi lance, i think it’s interesting that usually, when we see “boy crazy” or “girl crazy” characters, especially if they have a lot of chemistry or homoerotic tension with a same-gender character, people are like oh ya that’s comphetting. that character is desperately trying to outrun the gay thoughts. but with lance, who was definitely girl crazy and cared more about having a girlfriend than actually dating and falling in love (think “mrs blue lion” — he didn’t give a fuck about who he was marrying, so long that it was a girl), calling him gay will have people saying you’re erasing bisexuality. as if he was not fucking straight in the show. so.

Whatever happens he will continue to wait! Not sure but pretty sure the stars represent Dream (stars in his eye(s)). And Dream. Dream, my dude. Just because a story ends in death does not mean you will destroy him! For all you know the death could literally be at the end of the universe! If it is you both have a very long (overall happy) time together! The Fates are literally telling you Hob will be "more well with you near him than not." The Mother and the Crone aspects literally tell you not to worry and to let it be!!!! The Crone ignores your "Must I destroy him" question and offers you another answer instead, and RUFFLES your hair to comfort you??! The Fates, who when you first summoned them to get your tools back were, uh, *slightly* hostile to you???

I hope that this gets through to Dream, but the way the last few sentences go, I'm not sure. I somehow think he took the Fates' words in the worst way possible. He is not comforted by this interaction at all. He's not rushing to Hob eager to officially jumpstart anything. He's crumpled on the floor, he's still crying, he's very afraid. The way he thinks about inevitability, about being tired of fighting!

Just. I hope he's crumpled because he's processing. That those are tears of joy/relief. That that fear is the fear felt before taking a step forward towards Hob! That he's tired of fighting his reluctance to return to Hob. And that he will. Return to him. And not do anything stupid when he does.

Also, uh. The Maiden's description of the apple as "loving ruination." That sort of sums up what Dream thinks will happen between him and Hob, huh?

the Fates telling dream to chill is like. like he never got the parental care really he never has had authority figures who cared about him and in a way I like to think of the Fates, harsh and unyielding and hostile as they can be, as the closest thing to shepherds of undying beings that we could get. they know all, they see all, and they control the path of all things –– how could they be such without empathizing on some level, without understanding consequence and choice emotionally? I think their hostility is merited and always in character, but I think there's room for gentleness as well.

one of the through-lines I'm really tryna work with in this fic is that exact idea of inevitability. a friend and I recently had a very lovely discussion about the cycle of history –– it's not that we're always doomed to repeat mistakes, but more that the things that drive us stay the same. love and fear and wanting and grief and joy. those things push us, always, unavoidably. and I think that's the core of dream and hob. they have lived very separate lives, but there's always those core behaviors: hob will wait, and dream will circle back. it's how they are, fundamentally. in many ways I think the events of their relationship are inevitable, really. I hope to sort of continue with following this concept, especially as I figure out the ending, which is still very nebulous. because like, where do you go? if you will always love someone the same, if it's always a cycle, how can it end? or does it not end? does it just keep cycling?

he'll always return, I think. his bond to hob is the most lasting of his relationships (which are notoriously short-lived and temporal). I think he's always running back, ya know?

the loving ruination, absolutely yes. his love is always ruin. I think they are fundamentally both constructive and destructive for each other. like. the things they do in each other's name, and yet together they are something greater than the sum of their parts. I really could ramble about their relationship and about like the fundamental eldritch beauty of it for like three years anyway thank you for your most lovely words and for the ask :) <3 <3

hello!! so i'll tell you the premise -- its a wolfstar teacher fic!! it was more of an inside joke between my friends and i because wolfstar was going to be based on the teacher lore from my school :)) (theres these two teachers at my school who have the exact same personality as wolfstar, and they always insist they're not friends at all, but then they go to each other's dinner parties, and they also once went on this teachers trip thing?? and shared a hotel room. it's a whole thing.

anyways here's the summary i came up with:
