a lot of media assumes robots would be immortal but i think its a lot more interesting to explore robots dealing with their parts wearing down and battery life shortening and all the horrible little failings that come with being a complicated machine. sure they can replace parts but you'd assume you cant completely ship of theseus them, or it'd have pretty big rammifications on their sense of identity. idk. give me robots with distinct, unique signs of aging. as a treat.

#thinkin about wall-e.... how wall-e looks so much older than all the other robots just based on how theyre constructed #also thinkin about my phone that has to be on charge nearly all day at this point. does this qualify as a robot disability.

ok so i think that my favourite fantasy subgenre is The Inherent Tragedy Of Being Born Into Royalty. which mostly means that i like to read about gay princes but with some nuance

#ethically i am opposed to monarchies and empires. i think being born into a royal bloodline is inherently traumatising #which makes for the juiciest tastiest drama in stories obviously #either you become a bad ruler and people will suffer at your feet. or you become a good ruler and you no longer belong to yourself #how much will you sacrifice at the altar of your ideals?#It Compels Me. Narratively #also books like the goblin emperor have a big autism appeal in like. the court had a lot of nonsensical rules and you have to mask so much #apparently i am such a parody of myself that whenever im like. i have a drawing of my current blorbo #my friend immediately assumes it's a prince based on their vibes #IT'S NOT ALWAYS A PRINCE... SOMETIMES IT'S THE EMPEROR'S SECRETARY.... OR A DEMON WHO'S A KNIGHT.............. I CAN BE DIVERSE #anyway im currently reading the hands of the emperor AND a prince4prince web novel. that's the vibes rn

one of my favorite subtle implications in the series is that it seems the Titan Army was fully banking on Percy being the host of Kronos. Why else would they make their main base a cruise ship if their primary enemy is a son of Poseidon? Named after Andromeda, the wife of Perseus? Why would they work on Oceanus specifically being free so much? Side notably with other children of Poseidon? Why plant Zeus and Hades' items of power on Percy when Luke already had them? Why only Zeus and Hades' items, not Poseidon's? Well because they really need Percy as Kronos' host, that's why. (and Poseidon siding with them because of that would be a bonus as well)

I like to imagine Luke's cabin on the Princess Andromeda is fully decked out with like "WELCOME PERCY" and sea-themed sheets and everything and he hates it so much cause it's a constant reminder he failed and he was Kronos' second choice. Also then he gets his super special pegasus not even exactly stolen by Percy, but the pegasus willingly defects to be Percy's personal steed instead, which must just be insult to injury. Luke has immense one-sided beef with Percy and Percy has no idea.

#pjo #percy jackson #riordanverse #luke castellan #its only by TTC/BoTL they start making their more permanent base (probably because by that point theyve determined they cant get Percy)#and it's in the Garden of the Hesperides specifically #which makes sense for Kronos - he's titan of the Harvest. of course he'd pick a garden #but at the same time - that's exactly where Luke had his quest for Hermes. another reminder of him failing to achieve goals #so poor Luke is just constantly stewing in the reminders of his failure
