I've got several WIPs in edits, but I haven't posted from this one yet. In the 14th story from Kanej Wensen, Bevrediging, Kaz is going to take Inej out on their first public date. He might be a smidge nervous...

Kaz straightened his purple and black paisley tie for the third time, and checked that the matched pocket square was tucked just right in his jacket’s breast pocket. He adjusted his hat for the fourth time. The mirror in the front hall of the mansion showed him that everything still looked perfect. It did nothing to settle the nerves that had risen up on his way to the Geldin district. Even though he’d just seen Inej over the weekend, and had a grand dinner with her, Jesper, Wylan, and Marya. Spent a marvelous night cuddling and talking late into the night. And a rather lovely morning snuggled together upon waking, too. Even though they’d had multiple conversations about tonight’s date, Kaz couldn’t shake feeling like an absolute mess. He reached for the tie again with bare, subtly trembling fingers.

            You’re acting like you’ve never gotten dressed before… 

            It’s my first actual date out in public, okay? 

Of all the times for Jordie to be in his head, acting like the concerned older brother, this wasn’t the most helpful. He didn’t need to feel any more on edge. The tie was fine. The pocket square was fine. The hat was fine. It was all fine…  he just needed to breathe. Was his tie too tight? Fuck, the fucking tie is FINE!

This piece was a c0mmission for the fic Zelfliefde by @dreamtigress

The fic goes into Kaz and Inej's relationship a while post-cannon, and mainly revolves around the way in which they're learning to grow and be more vulnerable with each other.

Also, they took in a cat! I absoloutly melted at that. Krai, "sneaky as the Wraith, murderous as the Bastard," Kaz's words not mine, she is a good hunter. She has presented Kaz with many dead mice. The only thing she is cautious about so far are the crows on the rooftop.

The scene I'd illustrated is from chapter 4, a certain, slow, sleepy morning dawn in Kaz's attic in the slat, with both his Wraith and his cat snuggled in the warmth of his bed.

Reading kanej interact with Austen coded manners was just so fun and fit them so well. If you love Jane Austen and Inej you will love this fic. The other crows relationships are in this fic and its so adorable.

My summary/notes: I have to warn you that this fic incomplete but its definitely still worth the read. QHQ is such a good Kanej writer I recommend their other fics. This fic has a good chunk of angst as its a marriage of convience.. but there are so sweet moments. They wrotes Inej's worries and experience of what its like to be a woman in regency era fit, and stayed honest to her character.

I'm not sure how much to say without spoiling but we have Kanej taking down *horrible* people together. A lot of Nina and Jesper appearances, especially Nina's friendship with Inej and Jesper's friendship with Kaz, we love them <3.

And how many times will Mr. Brekker try to convince himself their partnership is merely an investment for the future? My summary/notes: I adored reading Kanej develop in this fic, we get to see them grow from strangers to friends to...... and Mama + Papa Ghafa are in this fic, I love them so much. It was so interesting reading the way they adapted canon to fit and it works really well. One thing I loved was Inej being vigilante and being the Wraith in regency era. The writing is incredible

Usually no external reaction. He's learned not to show weakness to anyone, so even if it really hurts, he'll keep it inside. Maybe a grimace or a gasp will slip out, but that's about it. Walking without his cane would be categorized here.

Vindingrijkheid

Vindingrijkheid (Fabrication/Invention) is a spinoff story from Kanej Wensen, featuring Jesper starting his apprenticeship with Tij Bashnya at Toren Leder.

This takes place during and after Verbanden & Geesten. Jes begins learning how to better focus his powers, some leather crafting, and a good chunk about his mentor as well. We get a section from Tij’s POV, and see how she views her new found apprentice. We also get to see Jesper and Tij trading stories as they work on a custom order for Kaz.

-for me personally its not possible to seperate the works from the author, like my brain doesnt work like that I mentally cant do it -> sandman &gomens doesnt spark joy for me anymore

-the whole thing opened my eyes about how toxic some of the fellow fans are ( looking at the conspiracy theory folk) and I dont want to acsidentally associate with them

-thought about deleting the fics i wrote but I think I'll let them on Ao3. Definetly won't finish pints&paints anymore. Also wont delete any of my fandom posts I think, would feel like erasure of a important part of my life. (The hyperfixation was strong and all-consuming.)

-> going forward this will likely be more focused on Merlin/ Atla/ Dirk Gently/ soc/ whatever sparks joy or I'll disappear fully from tumblr who knows.

being a soc fan with just no strong feelings on kuwei is weird because the entire fandom seems to love him or hate him. I think he's funny and tragic. there's a certain thing he does in ck that I wish to god his fans would stop defending. whenever he is made into a villain in wesper fics, I full-body cringe. I chortle at his antics. I'd be happy enough not seeing him again. the mention of him lighting shit on fire in ravka in kos made me laugh more than it should have.
