I had this idea where Evie found a baby in the streets of the Isle and decided to take care of it. Decided to write it down. This is between d2 and d3, almost the beginning of d3.
It's also Jayvie centered cause I'm so soft for them <3.
Sorry for any grammatical mistakes, english is not my first language. Hope you like it (if you do, let me know cause I've already written like four parts, got excited lol)
Rescued and Restored - Part One
It was finally happening. Evie's beloved program to rescue all those children from the Isle of the Lost was finally up and running. The Second Chance Program.
After the Royal Ball and Uma's escape from the Isle, there had been several months of preparation. Ben appointed Evie as the King's Counselor, and she had never felt happier in her life. Due to her lack of experience in the field, Fairy Godmother enrolled her in some courses to help Evie learn and understand all the responsibilities that came with being a counselor. It was intense weeks of studying and classes, but Evie managed to impress everyone with her efficiency and organization in this royal position. And when she finally had time to discuss her ideas with Ben, the program for the children of villains was finally ready. She was finally able to make a difference, just as she had always dreamed.
Evie was proving to herself that she was not just a pretty face, as her mother had taught her all her life.
Being the King's Counselor helped Evie financially above all else. The salary was good, and with the profits that Evie 4 Hearts was generating, she managed to make a good deal for her first property. It was a cozy house, spacious enough to live in, host her friends, and work on her designs. It was everything Evie didn't know she had dreamed of.
After all, she wasn't a girl of grand castles. She discovered her love for small and cozy cottages. At least for now.
Jay, Carlos, and Mal helped with the move. Jay practically didn't leave since Evie's first night in her own home. The girl's wardrobe was gradually being taken over by pieces of Jay's clothing. It was the time of rest that both of them needed.
While Evie had all these responsibilities, Jay had now become a coach at Auradon Elementary School when he wasn't helping the blue-haired woman with the details of the villain kids' Program. He had never connected so well with children as he did with his team. The little ones adored him and had enough energy to last the entire week.
They never thought their lives would take such different turns than expected. They never envisioned a life completely free. And now, with the opportunity to offer that to other children, they couldn't be more excited.
"We have to meet Mal at the castle in an hour," Evie said, sitting next to Jay on the kitchen island. The four VKs would be meeting this morning for a discreet visit to the Isle of the Lost. Only Ben, their parents, and Fairy Godmother knew about it. They were going to the Isle to assess the number of candidates for the new project. Evie was eager. She forked a piece of her pancakes and murmured with satisfaction as she took a bite.
"Please tell me Ben isn't going this time," Jay joked, smiling as he saw Evie laugh. "Seriously, I couldn't handle another rescue so soon. I'm still recovering from the first one."
"Mal made sure he stayed at the castle this time," Evie replied, chuckling as Jay leaned in and buried his face in the crook of her neck, breathing in her scent and giving a gentle kiss to her collarbone. "We do need a vacation, don't we?" She reached up to caress the cheek of the dark-haired boy with one of her hands.
"Desperately," Jay murmured, still leaning against the blue-haired girl. "Let's go to Neverland, or Agrabah..." After thinking about it, he said,"You know what? Let's go to both. And maybe the beach afterward."
"Sounds like a plan to me," Evie whispered, giving him a quick peck before they both returned to their breakfast.
It didn't take long for the four friends to be on the other side of the barrier. Before they began their actual work, Mal reminded them of the task at hand. "We need to attract as little attention as possible. We're here just to observe a sample of children who might be suitable for studying in Auradon. If they recognize us, it's fine, we can be polite, but we can't stay here longer than necessary."
"What about Uma's territory?" Carlos asked anxiously. They were never 100% at ease when they were on the Isle, too many enemies, and especially because it was their second time there without finding their parents. It wasn't something they wanted to do; no one was ready for that yet.
"While we're apart, we'll stay away from the pirates' territory. We'll do our assessment there together," the girl said. "The same goes for any place near our homes, unless you're willing to find your parents."
"Definitely not," Jay said, while Evie nodded. It was too soon.
"Alright, let's get to work then. We'll meet back here in 30 minutes," Carlos concluded, and the four young people separated to observe, talk to the children on the Isle, and learn what they thought about living in Auradon and having a new life.
It was a fierce battle. Half of them couldn't care less about the "land of princes and princesses," but the other half dreamed of the opportunity to be whatever they wanted with the endless possibilities of Auradon. Evie spent the 30 minutes doing just that, and to her relief, most of the children and teenagers she spoke to were excited about the program.
However, the return to the meeting point was not as quick as Evie had expected. She walked calmly and purposefully back to the designated spot when she heard muffled crying as she passed by Enoja's Shop. The daughter of the Evil Queen abruptly stopped to give it her attention. It wasn't uncommon to hear cries on the Isle of the Lost, but this one seemed much more fragile and desperate than usual.
She looked around a few times, searching for a child huddled in a corner but found nothing. That's when she noticed something moving inside a dumpster in front of the shop. Evie's heart squeezed as she walked closer, and the crying became more audible. She looked down, and the scene immediately brought tears to the princess's eyes.
Wrapped in tattered cloth was a baby, inside a trash bag, discarded in the dumpster as if it meant nothing. Evie knew it wasn't an accident. The child was tied and wrapped enough to conceal the living being within the garbage. It was intentional.
"Oh no..." the blue-haired girl whispered, a mix of anger and sadness flooding her heart as she reached out to pick up the baby.
"Evie!" she heard a familiar voice call out, but she didn't bother to look back. Her eyes remained fixed on the baby, who cried louder than ever. "We were all at the designated spot, and you didn't come back. We got worried," Jay said, not yet seeing the child Evie was trying to untie from the trash. "Evie, what are you doing..." He trailed off as he caught sight of the same sight as the girl. Jay furrowed his brow.
"Jay, help me. There's something tied around her neck," Evie's voice was choked up, and the young man quickly approached, carefully tearing apart the dangerously tied cloth from around the baby's neck. He fell silent, stunned, as she removed the trash bag from the small being squirming in desperation. "I just found her. It's a little girl."
"Was she just thrown there?!" Jafar's son questioned indignantly. He saw Evie nod without saying a word as a solitary tear slid down her cheek. She cradled the baby in her arms and sighed, her heart breaking as Evie tried to soothe her.
"What do we do?" Evie whispered, her voice barely audible, as Jay approached and ran his hand through her blue hair. She couldn't bear to leave the little, fragile baby there after what she had witnessed, and Jay felt the same way.
"We'll take her with us," he said gently. Evie nodded without hesitation, and the two of them returned to the meeting point of their four friends. Carlos was the first to notice the bundle squirming in the arms of the daughter of the Evil Queen. Jay's nervous expression didn't go unnoticed by the platinum-haired boy.
"Who is this?" he asked, and only then did Mal notice their friends.
"We're taking her with us," Jay said. "We found her in the dumpster in front of Enoja's Shop."
"Oh my God," Mal exclaimed. "Wasn't there anyone around?" She approached to get a better look and tried to read her best friend's expression, but Evie never took her eyes off the baby. It was Jay who guided her through the streets.
"No, she was wrapped up enough to not survive until tomorrow," Jay replied angrily, and Mal and Carlos exchanged glances, shaken. Nothing more was said. The four of them returned to the car they came in. Evie managed to calm the crying child on the way. She seemed more tired than hungry. And that's when Evie looked up to meet Mal's gaze.
"Can we get a pediatrician to visit her at home?" she said, her voice sounding more fragile than Mal had ever witnessed.
"Of course, E," Mal smiled, tucking a strand of blue curls behind her friend's ear, offering some comfort. "I'll let Ben know and ask him to bring the best."
"Thank you," Evie smiled.
(...)
"Have you drunk the water I brought you?" Jay asked, taking Evie's hands as she stared at the baby lying on her bed, being examined by an excellent pediatrician and two nurses. "I'm talking to you..."
"I had a little bit," Evie finally answered, looking into the eyes of the dark-haired boy. "I'm not very thirsty." Her voice still carried anxiety, and Evie's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts.
"Hey, look at me," Jay called her attention once again. "She's fine, we're safe now. You can relax." He pulled her into a hug, and Evie wrapped her arms around her boyfriend's waist, taking a deep breath and releasing all the adrenaline that was rushing through her body, calming down a little more.
"I know," Evie affirmed. "Thank you." She smiled, expressing gratitude not only for his recent words but for Jay's calmness and support when she was on the verge of losing it. He responded with a kiss on her forehead and took Evie's glass, heading to the kitchen.
"Well, Miss Grimhilde," the pediatrician began. "We're dealing with a mild case of malnutrition. The little one has a slight fever due to that. Therefore, for the next few days, we'll continue feeding her with breast milk, along with some regulated vitamins. You can retrieve the milk from our Auradon bank, and I believe your proximity to King Ben will help with the process. We've already brought the milk for today; you just need to pick it up tomorrow." The doctor explained while Evie nodded, paying attention to every detail.
"Can we determine her age?" the blue-haired girl asked.
"With the examinations we've conducted, we estimate that she's only about three weeks old, which makes her survival a miracle," the doctor surprised Evie with her response. "And that also means that the next few days will be a bit challenging. Will you be her temporary caregiver?"
"I believe so."
"Alright, since I already have your contact information, I'll provide you with further necessary care instructions for the baby over time," the pediatrician continued, writing her prescriptions on paper. "I'll also be available if you have any doubts."
"Okay, thank you very much," Evie smiled, bidding farewell to the medical team.
Once Evie was alone with the baby, she sat beside her, getting close to the little one. Now that all the adrenaline had subsided, Evie felt a mix of fear and excitement about the idea of temporarily caring for the baby.
She would never understand how such an angelic being could be discarded in the trash.
She began tracing the small features of the sleeping little being with her fingers. The sparse brown hair she had, her rosy cheeks, her tiny, pointed nose, and her rounded chin. Evie smiled, her heart filling with a warmth she had never felt before. She gently ran her fingers over the chubby little hands of the baby, plump even for a malnourished baby. And as she touched the baby's tiny feet, the baby squirmed as if tickled.
Evie's giggle caused the little one to slowly open her eyes, wriggling. "Oh, sorry for waking you, little miss," she whispered. Evie carefully picked up the baby and cradled her, placing her head against her chest, smiling as she heard the contented sigh from the little girl.
Jay slowly opened the door to the room, only to find Evie singing a lullaby while gently rocking the baby back to sleep. He smiled, quietly closing the door, giving them more privacy.

“What the heck she’s wearing? ‘The future is female’?” Jacob mumbles to himself, narrowing his eyes to read the sentence at her shirt. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Basically, that it doesn’t end well for us” Luke repeats with a smile what Cassie said when he questioned her at Frankie’s house, reminiscing their first interactions.
“What do you mean by that?”

Purple Hearts (2022)
In spite of their many differences, struggling singer-songwriter Cassie and Luke, a marine with a troubled past, agree to marriage solely for the military benefits. When tragedy strikes, the line between what's real and what's pretend begins to blur in this romantic drama.
TL;DR: Do I recommend it? > If you're just looking something simple to watch, sure.
The long of it:
Studio: Netflix Director: Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum Writer: Kyle Jarrow, Liz W. Garcia Music: Tony Kanal, Blake Neely Cast: Sofia Carson, Nicholas Galitzine, Chosen Jacobs, Linden Ashby Runtime: 122 minutes IMDB | RottenTomatoes | Official Site
Watched: on Netflix, August 14th
Reaction: ± It's like a slightly aged up 2000s teen movie: average writing --sometimes alright, sometimes terrible; mediocre filmmaking; one of them is in a band. With all the fanfiction writing tropes: Enemies to lovers, fake relationship, hurt/comfort, chronic medical condition, military injury. Nevertheless, it was a decent watch, kind of nostalgic and cringe-y at the same time. :))
Memorable aspect of the movie: + The songs were truly nice. + The dog. <3 - Showing the passage of time. Or the lack thereof. Instead of a way to tell the audience that weeks or months have passed it just seems like it continues directly after the previous scene.

//
Opening up the doors to the New Hope Dance Studio, you tugged your beanie off your head and looked around the small room. It was late afternoon so you didn’t expect many people around, your footsteps echoing loudly on the tiles. The wall is lined with pictures of the same girl that everybody has been talking about all over town.
A small girl with big dreams of becoming a dancer made it on Broadway in New York City. The town’s pride and joy. You smiled as you let your eyes roam over from photo to photo, to her face in the local article about her achievement.
Faint thumps of beats coming from the practice room made your head turn to the right and you curiously peaked your head inside the door.
April’s body moved with grace to the song, completely lost in the rhythm as she danced in front of the mirror, blocking out the world around her. You stood mesmerized at the sight, your eyes taking her in as she gave it her all, dancing her heart out with the spotlight shining on her.
You wasn’t even aware of the smile blooming on your face or the fact that she suddenly stopped and rounded on you, hands on her hips while she tried to control her breathing.
“This is a private lesson.”
You shook your head slightly as you stepped inside further.
“Oh, sorry, I’m just - You’re April, right?” You asked softly.
Her eyebrows frowned in confusion as she grabbed the remote from the floor and turned the music off. “Do I know you?”
“No but I know you.” At her surprised face, you finally smiled at her. “Your face is all around town. You’re pretty hard to miss.” You couldn’t help yourself as your eyes dropped down slightly before you forced it back up, not missing the way April’s head tilted to the side at the gesture.
“I’m Y/N. My little sister wants to join your class. My Mom sent me to check it out.” You continued, crossing your arms over your chest. April’s eyes hardened for a second.
“Well, we don’t hold auditions at the moment. My class is full. Maybe next time.”
Her harsh tone didn’t bother you at all as she turned the music back on, although slightly quieter and started to move again with easy. You took a moment to watch before you opened your mouth.
“You’re really good, you know? I’ve seen your videos on Youtube.”
At that April abruptly stopped and her face changed to something that was a mix between angry and ashamed for a second before she cooled her expression and pointedly started at the mirror.
“That’s great. I’m not Youtube’s biggest fan at the moment so...”
Suddenly understanding her anger, you were quick to clarify.
“Oh, I wasn’t talking about that...I mean, that Broadway Cares benefits that you danced at. I couldn’t take my eyes off of you in that chorus.”
You smiled as her head snapped to you, eyes boring into yours as she seized you up. You toyed with the fabric of your beanie in your hands but didn’t break the eye contact.
“Do you dance?” Her tone was stern but kind and you laughed.
“Oh no, I have two left feet. I actually think it would be quiet dangerous for me. I don’t want to face-plant in front of a bunch of little kids who are better than me.” You felt pride spread through your body when you caught the smallest of smile appearing on April’s face. You promised yourself to make her smile more. “My sister can, though. That’s why I’m here.”
“Hm.” She hummed absentmindedly and killed the music before grabbing her purse from one of the chairs, “Maybe I can teach you.” She walked closer and you instantly straightened up, dropping your crossed arms.
“Maybe.” You smiled happily but couldn’t help keep out the teasing tone in your voice when you noticed something in her bag. “Is that a block of cheese in your purse?”
April immediately snapped her bag closed and pulled it close to her side so you couldn’t see inside and lifted her chin high in the air. You bit your lip to stop yourself from smiling.
“Bring your sister on Friday afternoon and I will see what I can do.”
With that she walked past you quickly and you spun around to watch her push open the doors and leave the studio.
“Yes, Miss April.” You grinned and couldn’t wait until Friday to see her again.

OC Profile
Alejandra Cordova (Encanto.)
Bio
Name: Alejandra Graciela Salazar Cordova. (Alejandra Reyes as an alias.) Nickname is Allie.
Age: 30. People think she looks to be late teens-early 20s which kind of bothers her.
Ethnicity: Colombian.
Species: Human.
Height: 5"1'. She'd be just an inch shorter than Mirabel's canon height.
Weight: 115 pounds.
Hair color: Dark brown.
Hair style: Usually in a loose braid which has free hairs flowing around her ears. Hair is naturally curly mid-back and no bangs. Type 2B curls.
Eye color: Jade green like her mother.
Birthday: May 24th 1920.
Gender: Female.
Sexual Orientation: Its not the main point of her story, but she's asexual. She wouldn't mind a romantic relationship though.
Powers (if any): Hmm...shall I tell? OK. She does gain the gift of Pyrokinesis. She can create and control fire. She has the benefit of not getting cold easily and have fire immunity. She can't be harmed even by breathing smoke or ash. To handle the gift it takes discipline. If Alejandra's emotions are overwhelming the fire is uncontrollable. In that case, Alejandra's eyes glow golden-orange. Considering this poor gal is dealing with anxiety and grief it's going to be a challenge.
She does have the weakness that if her hands get wet, she can't make fire. Sometimes she gets too warm easily and that's what leads her to wearing light pajamas and clothes in a lighter fabric. Her symbol would be flames.
Distinguishing features (if any): Looks like her mother. The round face, small sized nose, full lips and arched eyebrows. Very faint freckles across her nose. She inherited her father's smile and shape of nose. Petite rectangle figure with toned arms and long, strong fingers due to her job. Skin tone like Luisa.
Blood Type: A+
Clothing
Day to day outfit: Sea green dress with scalloped neckline and sleeves. A lighter green petticoat. Dress has pockets for her mice, but has a narrow one they can't hide in. Dark brown alpargatas with a beaded design along top hem. If she had a power, her symbol would go around the hemline of her skirt in a lighter shade.
Pajamas/What they wear to bed: Plain white nightgown with her best attempt at embroidering a mouse design along the hemline. Eventually has one in lighter material with cut sleeves due to her gift.
Formal Clothes: Had a light pink Quinceanera dress and one formal dress that's yellow. She wore it to her father and stepmother's wedding. She'd like a new one someday in her favorite color.
Work/School uniform: Wears dark brown trousers, a simple shirt and a leather apron for glassblowing. Will wear boots though they're not her preferred shoes. (Based off of the Luisa concept art where she had pants.)
Other (glasses, jewelry, etc): She made all the jewelry she owns. Hoop earrings fully covered with green seed beads. Simple wooden brown bead necklace. Keeps a rosary from her friend Benecio in the narrow pocket of her dress or pants.
Health
Physical Illnesses: N/A.
Mental Illnesses or disorders: Anxiety disorder.
Medications?: None.
Addictions (Drugs, alcohol?): No.
General Health: Physically she's healthy enough. Mentally, she's struggling.
Life/Preferences:
Likes: Dancing, horseback riding, hiking, rainfall, watching a sunrise and playing with her mice.
Dislikes: Nosey people, arrogance and her father leaving. She especially dislikes seeing Francisca suffer from migraines and wishes her twin had it better. The one thing Alejandra dislikes most of all is having meltdowns to the point she's hyperventilating.
Career: Glassblower which has also become a hobby.
Hobbies/Talents: Jewelry making. She enjoys making trinkets out of glass and colorful stones like lampshades, windchimes and mobiles.
Habits (good or bad): Fiddles with her hands often and touches her left arm when nervous.
Family: Twin sister Francisca. They're 20 minutes apart since Alejandra was breech. Her deceased mother Mercedes and father Pablo Salazar. She doesn't know the maternal side of her family well and doesn't get along with the paternal side anymore.
Friends: Ramon Sandoval. A shy, but kind young man who lives nearby. Benecio. An older priest who helped her find work and some peace after her father's second marriage. Benecio sadly died in a case of protecting Alejandra in which she blames herself. Gets along well with her coworkers and boss Velasco.
Romantic/Love Interest(s): Other than an innocent crush as a kid, none at the moment.
Pets: Alejandra's horse, a dark brown Paso Fino breed, named Acosta. She bought him while on a trip along the Colombian coast. Three mice: Violetta (grey). Yareli (white) and Rodrigo (brown.) She calls the mice her babies.
Social Status: Middle class.
Favorite Food: Empanadas. Her favorite drink is Chocolate Santafereño (hot chocolate with a hunk of melted white cheese.)
Favorite Color: Sea green. It's her favorite with glass colors.
Favorite genre of music: Vallenato.
Favorite movie genre: She'd like adventure/fantasy movies.
Favorite Animal: She loves lots of animals, but she especially loves mice. She would rescue them from traps and set them free.
Degree of Education: Normal education.
What language(s) can they speak?: Spanish and English. She tried learning another language Francisca can speak but couldn't keep up.
Can they cook?: She's a decent cook.
Positive Traits: Friendly, warm, caring, creative and quiet.
Negative Traits: Easily stressed, disorganized, low self-esteem and a little bitter towards her step/half family.
Archetype: The Orphan like Oliver Twist, Luke Skywalker or Simba.
Way they interact with others: Friendly and sociable until she's tired. She doesn't give all the details about herself if she can help it.
Way of speaking: Voice inspiration for her is Sofia Carson.
Introvert or Extrovert?: Introvert. MBTI would be ISFP.
Backstory
Alejandra was a sweet and shy little girl being the opposite of Francisca. They were still close and remain that way as adults. They've had challenges, but the biggest was at 13 when their parents separated. Though it was amicable, Alejandra was conflicted. Later, she felt betrayed when Pablo remarried less than a year later. Her stepmother wasn't mean to her, and Pablo said he still cared for his twins, but that didn't help. She eventually had a meltdown at the wedding. When Alejandra found out she had a baby half-sister (and more siblings) she was angry. It felt like being replaced. The fact that Pablo didn't offer help when Mercedes died was more salt in the wound. Losing her friend Benecio added more weight to her soul. Everyone she cared for either abandoned her or died. So it's just Alejandra, Francisca and they're little group of animals.
Life Goals
Alejandra would like to feel peaceful again. Just have some peace about herself and her family. Maybe even feel parental affection again since she misses it. Oddly enough, she may find it in Encanto and through a particular seer.

What should have happened in Descendants 3 when the spark gets soaked...
Mal returns to Hades, trying to think of the best way to keep her friends safe from his wrath. She finds him just standing in the entrance way to his cave and she hesitantly shows the drowned Ember, Uma’s standing beside her and Evie is too, Ben’s trying to look threatening as much as his half beast form will allow with Jay, Carlos, Harry and Gill looming around him; Jane is standing with Dizzy and the kid, protectively trying to keep them back; theres a shot that pans over all of them, not as the heroes of the story, but as children. It ends on Hades, looking at them, before he holds his hand out and Mal steps forward to hand him the ember but before she can he pulls her into a hug.
“This shouldn’t be your fight.” He mumbles carefully pulling the ember turning to look up to both the spires and towers in the Isle and the ones on Auradon, he snarls, fire starting to lick up his hands and hair, lighting the ember in a blaze of glory. Everyone stares stunned. He turns shooting everyone a quizzical look, resembling Mal’s from the first movie.
“I’m a god, do you really think I’m bound by a fae’s magic?” He offers the ember, once again burning to Mal.
“You said this shouldn’t be our fight.” There is still defiance in her voice; Hades simply looks tired, almost sad.
“That’s not my choice anymore.”
After they defeat Audrey, Hades is called because he knows the ember best. Sleeping spells are dangerous and they’re not sure if Mal has the power to remove it. When he steps back from the room, and Mal follows him.
“Why did you stay?” It echos around the corridor and he turns his face that was an unimpressed glare softens as he looks at Mal and where her friends peek from the doorway.
“Someone had to look out for you.” A short montage of clips, the rotten four meeting in the market all drawn by the flickering blue flame; Mal’s way being lit in the dark or her canvas’ being illuminated by a shimmering blue light from below.

“Okay, I’m gonna bite” he gives in “What am I supposed to feel guilty about?”
She keeps quiet, gripping the wheel tighter and he wonders if her fingers are not hurting from that.
“Was it because of last week? Because I accepted my dad’s invitation to have dinner? Or because I was rude to that paparazzi at the beach?” He guesses but still gets ignored “This is getting harder. Maybe it was something I didn’t do?” he wonders and Cassie huffs. “Okay, so it was something I certainly did. Can’t you give me a hint, Cass? I’m lost here and I can’t apologize or defend myself from something I’m not aware I did”
“Fine, I can give you a tip” she concedes “You’re an ass with an ego the size of a dwarf planet”

Anniversary
Tumblr media
Pairing: Sofia x Reader
Request: Hii, love your work, could you do Sofia Carson and number 8 prompt?
“I can’t believe I got the first date, let alone a year.”
/
The pine scented candles burned steadily on the dinner room table as you put down the salad bowl and adjusted the cutlery. Tonight was a special night, marking your one year anniversary with Sofia and you wanted everything to be perfect.
She was bound to be home any minute, having been on set for her next movie and you spent the day cooking your ass off in the kitchen. You weren’t the best cook but you tried your hardest. You set the table for two, dimmed the lights to make the room romantic and placed a single red rose in the middle in a clear vase.
The front door opening made you exhale deeply in nerves as you heard her coming in, her duffel bag hitting the floor and her footsteps approaching.
You smiled as she appeared at the doorstep and stopped short, wearing a knitted off the shoulder black sweater with black leggings, her beautiful hair falling down her back. Her mouth opened slightly as her eyes took in the room.
“What is this?” Her awed tone made your smile grow as you held out your arm.
“Dinner, m’lady.” You joked and grabbed her hand, guiding her gently to the table and pulling out the chair for her before sitting down across. “Happy anniversary.”
Sofia’s face softened. “Aw, happy anniversary. I can’t believe you did this.”
“Well, me too, if I’m honest.” You laughed a little easier as you poured some wine into her glass before your own and removed the lid from the pot, the aroma of spaghetti with meatballs filling the air. “It was really hard. I almost burned the sauce... twice.”
Sofia chuckled as she leaned forward and breathed in through her nose. “I’m sure it’s delicious, it smells really good.”
“I hope so.” You grimaced as you put some of the pasta on her plate. “I have the pizza place down the street on standby just in case.” You joked half-heartedly as Sofia laughed and your heart swelled.
The next couple of hours were spent talking, laughing, eating and just enjoying being with each other. Sofia’s career kept her away sometimes for months at a time and although, the distance was hard, you both made a promise that you would not let a day pass by without talking to the other.
And as you looked at her with love in your eyes as her laughter quieted down and she reached for another sip of wine, you realized that you wouldn’t do this with anybody else.
Sofia noticed your faraway look and tilted her head to the side, her voice coming out in a whisper. “What?” She smiled self-consciously and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.
“I can’t believe I got the first date, let alone a year.” You puffed out a laugh. “Remember the first time I asked you out?”
Sofia smirked. “You mean, when you tried to ask me out?”
“Hey, that cord came out of nowhere!” You said in defense but you couldn’t hold in your smile as she laughed.
You remembered the day you first saw her like it was yesterday. You worked as a number of the crew on one of her films and she caught your eye right away. You were clumsy and shy at your attempt to introduce yourself but she found you sweet.
You watched her work and being amazed at her talent. You remembered almost falling on your face when you finally gathered up the courage to approach her and ask her out weeks later, only to trip on a power cord and ending up on your knees in front of her.
She didn’t let you forget that since then.
“It did catch your attention, no?” You pouted.
Sofia blew you a kiss with a slick smile. “We are here after all. One year on.”
You shook your head fondly and lifted your glass in a toast, watching as Sofia did the same.
“And hopefully many more.”
The End.
