He brushes it off and asks why the dog is green and glowing, that can't be healthy. When he learns that Cujo is a ghost dog, he reflexively replies "ghosts don't exist"

The boy just laughed and disappeared with the dog.

Later he sees the same dog with another boy playing fetch in the sky.
