Yue Qingyuan finds Shen Qingqiu objectively more pleasant to be around than before, but he doesn’t like it. Because deep down, he knows this isn’t the person he grew up with. And while he may be more tolerable, this… isn’t the man he’s in love with.

That Malleus Anon again, apparently also TWST EN on twt has now come to the consensus that Malleus hates Silver because he did what he did in Chapter 7, Part 2 and I'm... I'm honestly Pepe crying right now.
PLEASE SAY UR JOKING
IM BEGGING????
Like, Malleus doesn't hate Silver at all, he practically helped raise him [and Sebek] with Lilia. It's more of the fact that Mallleus never got to experience what it was like to have a father.
His parents are long dead and his Grandma, for all intents and purposes, is stuck in Briar Valley tiding the people over so as to not put unnecessary pressure on one the last Draconia's.
Lilia had to pick up the slack of raising Malleus into a King who would usher in a new era for Briar Valley.
In some ways Malleus feels robbed that he can never have someone to call 'old man' or 'father'..
It's more akin to slight jealousy if we wanna be honest, but even then Malleus still cares enough ab Silver to hear him pour his heart out. He heard the pleas of Silver not being strong enough to keep Lilia and took matters into his own hands.
You can say he looked indifferent while Silver was tearing himself up ab not being able to repay Lilia a debt that never needed to be collected, but you cannot deny that there's a sense of love in putting the entirety of NRC [and possibly the island] under a 'blessing'.
Malleus wanted to quell the hurt he and Silver shared in not being able to do anything in the face of death. He picked up where Silver left off when he cried out that he wasn't strong enough, because Malleus is strong enough.
He did as a king would, he heard his people's struggle and did something about it.
And I would argue that he and Kalim share parallels because of that, because they want to wrap everyone in a 'blessing'.

is omari basil still a delinquent
(and side note here id LOVE to hear you ramble all about your Omari au)
Ahem,,,, if it is alright with you then,,,,,, I will talk about my OMARI Basil then,,,,
To answer your question, he was planned to be the delinquent of the group (as per typical swap aus), though over time, I really began to sit down and think about it the more swap aus began to pop up around the fandom. I didn't really like the idea of being a carbon copy of various other omari aus in specific, so during the time I have been absent on here I began to slowly revamp the AU over time. I had to start over with what I originally had in the first place since a lot of the au things in my take on it also had contributions by followers as well!
For Basil, his first concept was initially a delinquent take... but the thing that caused a problem with that was the fact that I had planned for him to also play a sort of "detective" role in this universe, as I had written a short snippet on Basil having caught on to something suspicious going on between the older siblings and Sunny's sudden disappearance.......
Frankly, as much as a delinquent Basil is my darling concept of all concepts, I had to, unfortunately, push it to the side and alter his role in this AU to fit with the revamped look I was going for him... therefore fully integrating him into his "detective" role. In a way though, looking through Mari's perspective, he's sort of a clashing force with her and is equivalent to an antagonist in her own story (but! Keep in mind, Mari in this AU isn't the Mari who you should be sympathizing for.... an unreliable narrator who happens to be a wolf in sheeps clothing....).
As for the emotions, while a lot of people tend to view the emotions being assigned to the characters as their possible role in RW (the happy-go-lucky, the perfect student, the delinquent), for mine I ended up making it were each friend had 2 main emotions.... Basils would be anger and sorrow (Aubrey and Kel tend to have anger as their second emotion, though that is still up for debate! I still have a few things to work out :3). So, in a way you could say that in Headspace they were only ever seen as a one-dimensional character by Mari/Hikkiko, while in the real world, they had a even bigger "mess" of emotions that they all dealt with. In turn, Basil's concept strayed further away from the path of delinquent and more into a path which.... ehehe..... obsession as a concept is such a fun thing to play around with, don't you think?
Just as much as he plays the "investigator", he also is meant to be a parallel of what Mari/Hikkiko is. Obsession has always been a part of his character, and in doing so, you could say I played around with it until I found quite a nice concept with this. Mari/Hikkiko both have a need to keep Sunny around as the perfect brother and therefore paint his Headspace counterpart to their own liking.... while Basil in turn has, on some level, a need to imitate Sunny as closely as he can. Both are a form of obsessions I have given them, and in a way, the only reason Basils is a more "lighter" version of this is because Aubrey, Kel, Hero (sort of), Polly, his grandmother, and Faraway Town as a whole have been there to guide him on a better path. Though his obsession to keep Sunny's memory alive by becoming like him is still there, it's not to say that he doesn't have people to talk some sense into him-- meanwhile Mari does not have that type of support.
Obsession stems from love, at least, in their case. And in the end, it really depends on whether or not they have people who are willing to reel them back into a state of sanity. Basil was, at least in terms of my omari lore, viewed as a delinquent at one point, though he never acted out aggressively towards others unless provoked enough and only ever kept to himself.... eventually the town residents accepted the fact that this was just his way of grieving and treated him with patience and respect, especially with the fact he took it upon himself to go around town and helping around with the little things, though especially with gardening and photography.
it's not to say though, that he doesn't have some... worrying habits. That as in, most of his plants being replaced with tulips and most of the heads of certain plants being chopped off with garden shears, left to rot. While Basil mimics his best friends habits, he isn't exactly the best at fully hiding his feelings and emotions as Sunny was able to. No amount of masquerading will change the fact that once he's laid his sights on you, it'll only be a matter time before he seeks for your head on a silver platter.
#im sure i have much more to say and i probably ended up giving you more information than you can chew at a time but like...#listen..... i've been waiting for so#LONG for someone to ask something regarding the characters for the revamped version#in a way i will say that this omari au is a very personal thing with the way some characterizations come off#(some of the stuff in this au is based off real experiences lol)#and any time it comes to swap aus in general for any fandom#i always take them seriously#if anything. i WILL shit on someone in my head if their swap au doesnt have anything unique to it and its just a roleswap#its why the one swap au im actually paying much mind to is a friends au thats called CHICO#one things for certain; if your swap au doesnt have any creativity put into it i will cast upon shame on you your family your families dog-#jk but. swap aus have always been a passion project thing for me in every fandom i've ever been in and OMORI fandom is. well#lets just say that im the gordon ramsay of swap aus because theres BARELY ANY FUCKING GOOD FOOD AROUND HERE!!!!!!#OMARI AU#A Sisters Mourning AU#omori au#omori basil#omori spoilers#omori#anon asks#miko talks#mikkos ramblings#this also just goes in general for aus#ive always been picky and if theres something i dont like or something doesnt make sense well#im sorry to those who have to watch me get real bitchy with things#aus have always been a therapeutic thing to me and ik not everyone is gonna do what i want to see but even then#if your au is mostly for shipping (that has no relevance to the plot whatsoever) or blatant mischaracterization then you can leave!!#ik im sounding like a shen yuan rn but i have a lot of pent up rage and resentment#if you think you can get away with stuff like this in aus i will hunt you down and pour milk over your heads!!!!!

I had a dream yesterday. And I've always had weird dreams. Creepy or bizzare or both. Though they've always told a narrative. They've always been long drawn out stories with dialogue and characters and a goal and a beginning and usually an end.
Yesterday I dreamt of walking down my street. It was dark and I was with an old friend. I knew in the dream they were an old friend, one I hadn't met since I was a teenager, maybe longer. But now, awake, I can't recall their face.
We were going somewhere to find something. In the dream I knew where we were going and what we hoped to recover. Now the details are murky.
I was apprehensive in the dream. I couldn't shake the feeling that I had tried this before, with more people, with more old friends, and that I had failed. And like a game resetting I had started at the beginning again. Except none of the others were given a second chance and I was here now with a new companion, walking back towards the same fate. My friend remained oblivious and happy. We were talking about the neighbourhoods and houses we were passing. I think I dismissed the flashing images of my 'first try' as deja vu or anxiety.
It was night when we started off from my street. No time passed, but it was bright and early a step away, on the next street. There was something safe about my small dark street with its one light, and I felt we had left that safety behind.
This new neighbourhood was idyllic. Sunny and green with little houses. But there were no people. I don't think there was any noise at all, aside from the two of us.
We passed a pair of cottages that were painted to look like little green frogs. They had one connected garden with a little fence and archways and garden seats painted to look like toadstools. I told my friend I'd like to live there. That when we got what we came for we should go see the cottages, invite others and have a lunch on the toadstools.
At the end of the street was a white wall and a large gate, behind it stood an old fashioned bungalow with a sprawling garden dotted by bushes. The bunglow's veranda wrapped all the way around it, all the doors leading to the inside of the house were open wide, and we could see a courtyard in the middle. There was antique furniture throughout the house, making it difficult to navigate through. But they made good hiding spots. We knew we needed to hide. That we weren't supposed to be there. That whatever we were taking, we'd be stealing. I think we got caught last time, my other old friends and I.
There was an older lady. A servant. I could see her from my hiding spot. She was talking to someone. I don't think I could make out what they were saying, can you hear noise in dreams? But I knew she was talking about us. Telling someone that we had come here.
I only ever saw who she was talking to through their reflection in the glass doors. Whoever it was she looked like my next-door neighbour who had passed away almost a year ago. The one who used to make little bouquets of this plant the cats liked, tied together with a red ribbon, and toss it into our garden for them to find. We never spoke much, but I miss her.
She looked exactly like her. Except her hands didn't make sense. They just kept going and going till they almost reached the ground. I didn't understand why at first. I had to keep staring at that reflection. I thought maybe something was wrong with it. That maybe it was distorted? It was her nails. It was her nails that were wrong. They were long and sharp and dirty and I knew I had felt them once, against my skin, against my flesh, tearing into me. Maybe it's just because it was a dream, but it's an odd feeling to know you had died once and you were going to die again, that even the extra steps you took to prevent it hadn't really changed anything. There was a strange disconnect to it.
We crept around the bungalow. It was really just one long circular corridor packed with furniture, with a courtyard in the middle. I think she knew we were there. I think she was hunting us. But whatever we came for it was more important than whatever fate had met my previous companions (Becoming a corpse? Becoming a meal?)
The more we stayed there, the more I just knew things. Like how that wasn't really my old neighbour. How whatever it was just looked like her. To appear safe and friendly and comforting, maybe, to me specifically. I knew why the whole neighbourhood was empty, of course. I knew what had happened to all the people. I knew why the houses were so well kept though, so welcoming, designed to draw people in.
We got what we came for. It was further than we had gotten last time. Or at least that's the impression I had. Then we ran. It, whatever it was, chased after us. We made it out of the gates and as we ran past the picturesque little houses, as we ran past the frog cottage I knew that one had been made just for me.

A cat sits alone in the cemetery
Inspired by @circuscountdowns's bishop death comic.
cw: grief, slow mental deterioration by way of immortality
Mortal minds were not meant to live forever. Not alone.
It’s the middle of the night and they kneel before the grave. In one of their hands they grip a shovel that had been gifted to them a long time ago. At the base of the handle is an engraving that matches the stone crown on the gravestone.
There is a pendant on their chest, and it gleams gold in the moonlight.
They close their eyes, and breathe. Out slow, in slow.
Camellias smell like sugar and dirt, like three thousand years of longing. The flowers on this grave are always fresh. always redder than blood, even in the winter, when every other plant on cult grounds wilts and turns bare and hibernates. The camellias on his grave are always there, always beautiful. One might call them blessed.
They are not afraid of dying—they are devoted to Death. They simply cannot die yet. Their Gods and leaders need them. The rest of the flock needs their wisdom. Someone who can speak to them as an equal, but who knows more and has seen more than the rest.
Mortal minds were not meant to live forever, but they’re still doing pretty well. They lose days or weeks sometimes, but it’s not a problem yet. They suspect it’ll take another five thousand or so before their mind becomes a problem, assuming something else doesn’t kill them first.
So, they cannot leave. Not of their own accord. They have no need to.
They want to stay, to be content with the impossible life they live, but something is missing. They’ve been missing the sandpaper edges of his voice for the last few centuries. They’ve been yearning for the feel of his fur on their own—green and yellow, a sunbeam shining over a bed of moss.
He left them. They agreed to it. He was tired. They understood, or thought they did. They were with him for the rest of his life, and they loved him, and he died, in the end, like a mortal, but his heart was full, and when he was gone for good, they realized that their heart had gone with him. Stolen in a final prank.
At first they figured the pain would lie in the loss itself, but true moments of pain were every time they would forget that he was gone. It was every time they would look beside them, to whisper to him something that he would yell aloud to embarrass them both, only to find no one was there. It was every odd hole in the ground that they would feel the urge to crouch down beside, to talk to him, coax him out, before someone would ask what they were doing and they would remember that he wasn't there. It was every time they remembered that holes in the ground were for plants, and not Gods.
He would be severely annoyed to see them do anything but smile, but it was getting hard to smile without him.
And, and he would want this, wouldn’t he? Even if getting woken back up annoyed him at first.
His After was probably boring without them.
He'd think it was funny.
He’d grin impossibly wide and say, “ABOUT TIME YOU DID SOMETHING SELFISH.”
They stare at the old stone. The crown of the God of Chaos stares back. It's only another life. He won't even have to put on a necklace this time around.
Mortal minds were not meant to live forever. Not alone.
So, they stand and lurch forward. They take the shovel into both their hands, and they drive it like a spear into the dirt, into Leshy's grave.
They don’t know how the ritual works, but they know they’ll need his bones for it. They'll figure the rest out later.

So, I’m thinking about the immortal au (obsessing, casually)
And I’m really into Good Omens, and I was thinking about the way that Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship is often shown through various non-chronological flashbacks to different points in history besides the present-day storyline.
This came to mind because I was thinking about if this au were written as a fic, this format would be really cool to see if the hypothetical fic took place around the time leading up to m/c somehow claiming the dca from the pizzaplex with the flashbacks being from before/when m/c meets the dca. (I hope that makes sense)
I can’t really call myself a writer so I’m not sure if this is a good idea or not but I’ve been thinking about this premise a lot and thought I’d share.
Ooooooh that's great!! It's an interesting idea for sure, kinda like intercalating (is that the word? Idk english is hard. Consider mixing) the two arcs (which would be pre/during-pizza plex and post-pizzaplex)
I think about flashbacks a lot regarding the 'mc' but whenever I think of them is more like. Things lost in time, from places of really, really long ago
Them making a vague comment about how some random king was a wise and kind leader on his time, smiling softly as they remember how great of a friend he also was, and how they both would gaze down the grass field and talk about nothing and everything
Them mentioning not liking something to the dca, trying their best to not think of the specific situation centuries ago that made them to this day still be scared of it
They are the carrier of the memories of people who've been lost on time and history, who keeps them alive by remembering them, telling their stories after they are long gone. Kinda dramatic but it's like holding onto a drawing your old childhood best friend made you back when you were kids and that you still cherish despite having lost contact ages ago
They've loved those people with an open bleeding heart time and time again, which reflects on their relationship with the dca today and all the things they don't quite tell them
I always think of flashbacks of important relationships that marked them like fire to the skin, which narrative-wise I guess is also kinda interesting- but idk
But I really like your idea too, for sure is smth I'll keep in mind if one day I get to sit down and sort out how will I write this thing
Man, i really gotta watch good omens one of these days

I do think that not being allowed to be a little grumpy and unreasonable in private without someone noticing would give me new unique kinds of neuroses though. I have always wished the imperial radch books examined breq's surveillance of her crew more in the later books because the common radchaii habit of being intentionally oblique/people from other places being more oblique and unreadable when talking to someone from the radch irritates breq frequently but seems to me to be the natural result of constantly being monitored. breq may be causing some of her own interpersonal issues here

Hello Nevermore webtoon fandom. I’m very obsessed and have some thoughts and questions and I’d like to see other ppl’s too. So. I’ve seen it commonly theorized that many of the chara’s come from different time periods. If this is true, why is it that they, specifically, end up at this particular time in Nevermore? (This is mostly me rambling lol.)
We know it’s not the case that there is a certain quota of people dying who fit whatever qualification there is to be at the school before a new term starts. This is because Theo was in a previous class, and he lived well after Prospero for example (judging by his plague doctor motif) and died before Lenora. Yet, Theo is not in the same class as them, so the makeup of classes doesn’t seem to have anything to do with overworld chronology of when they died.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So maybe instead, people who die and fit the qualifications for Nevermore are kept in some sort of stasis. Then when a new term starts X amount of them are selected (randomly? On purpose by some entity to create a class with a particular characteristic?) and join that class? If this is true, then what the Raven tells Lenore would mean that this was not always the case.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at the words “recently departed.” If this was the way of doing things, then there would be no people from the 17th century mixing with people from the 20th century. Yet, there are, as “things are different now.” Somehow, someone (the Deans?) have changed the way Nevermore works so that people who died in very different time periods are in Nevermore at the same time.
Interestingly, Lenore (and presumably Annabelle) very much “wash up” on the shores of the southern island:
Tumblr media
They also arrive late to class, meaning that maybe for some reason, they were set to follow the old process of making the pilgrimage to the other side of the island, before they were guided by the Wisps to Nevermore. This idea is messed up tho by the fact that at this point, they were not “recently departed”: Other students who died at later times were already in Nevermore. So idk where I’m going with this particular point, but I feel like it’s important that Anabelle and Lenore were shown to be something of anomalies.
Another related point was how the Deans didn’t seem particularly worried about the fact that two students were missing before Annabelle and Lenore showed up. This shows that they don’t have complete control over the system and have grown accustomed to that fact. Interestingly, this contradicts what the Raven says to Lenore about leaving Nevermore Academy:
Tumblr media
Again, the world “recently” in “recently departed” would imply that Nevermore exists in a particular time in relation to the overworld. We know Nevermore HAS time—there are mentions of sunsets, it gets dark at night, the raven says that Merry and Mourn are relatively new to Nevermore, etc—how tied is it to the overworld though?
Is there a direct equivalent, like, it is 1980 CE in the overworld so it’s 1980 in Nevermore?
Or is time related but compressed or expanded, like, 1 overworld year is 5 Nevermore years?
Or does time in Nevermore exist completely separately. Ie, when it’s 1980 in the overworld it’s 3000 in Nevermore, and when it’s 2000 in the overworld it’s 900 in Nevermore, and when it’s 2020 in the overworld it’s 1500 in Nevermore. (This could make Annabelle and Lenore “recently departed”)
Nevermore exists in a state of complete stasis. The days and nights are only there to mimic the real world, but time doesn’t actually exist.
Or something else?
I’m wondering how time in Nevermore relates to time in the real world because I want to know what the year will be if Lenore and Anabelle get back to the world of the living. Will they have a second chance at the exact lives they were living before? Will they be the same people in a different time? Will they be reincarnated into different people in a different time?
Also! New point! I assumed earlier that there was some criteria for getting into Nevermore. Looking the cast, this seems like the case: they’re all young, didn’t seem to expect to die for a long time in life, and are from a relatively more economically developed area in the world. However, many more people who fit those traits than the cast died and it would take an extremely long time to get through all of them given the class size so there are four options that might exist at once:
There is some other trait that gets them into Nevermore
it’s random who goes to Nevermore
There are multiple Nevermore academies
The time works like option 2 mentioned above, so the Deans have a lot more time to process all the students
(Note: the fact that all the character’s we’ve seen seem to come from more economically developed areas could just be chalked up to authorial bias, rather than having some in-universe reasoning)
Another, vaguely related point: what do the deans gain from changing the way Nevermore’s system works? (What’s their currency?) It seemed like in the past, all recently departed souls could try to make the pilgrimage to return to the overworld. Sure, some would get eaten, but I’m guessing that a lot more would make it through. The current system limits the amount of people who can get through a lot, since 1. the criteria for going to Nevermore excludes a large portion of the population, and 2. only one student in like 30 or whatever the class size is can go to the portal. They also hide the portal from students, as they’ve closed down the wing that has a view of it. I’m not even sure if the portal is used to send the one student back, or if there’s some other method. So why would the deans (or whoever set up the Nevermore academy system) try to limit the amount of souls that can come back? I have some ideas:
The underworld wants a higher population. We know that there is some sort of administration there, as there are trains and train tickets, so it would make sense for them to have an interest.
Using the portal takes energy away from something, and whoever set up the Nevermore academy system would like to limit the energy that’s being lost
It’s a metaphor for capitalism
The creatures in Nevermore gained something from the previous system—having pilgrims to eat, something to do with the use of the portal—and the creators of the Nevermore academy system don’t like the creatures having power
anyway, these were some thoughts I had. They’re not particularly well organized, so I might make some of them into their own post. Please tell me your thoughts! I would love to have some people to talk to about this webtoon.
tl;dr because this was some of the least linear thinking to ever think
It’s not clear how the makeup of classes are decided
Time is screwy
Nevermore hasn’t always operated this way, and someone has an interest in keeping up the current system with the academy
Lenore and Annabelle are, at least at first, slightly outside of the system
