The (crappy) art of Freakycare

Much like I did in my initial 'final farewell' post (which turned out to not be final post at all because so much shit happened afterwards), I want to focus this post on an aspect that other people have not talked about - the art itself on the new freakycare blog. A lot of other people have talked about how KC refuses to take any accountability and trying to shed culpability, her refusal to acknowledge or apologize to any victims (Emsody being the only one who received so much as a 'sorry' from KC, has since been redacted with the removal of the post from the main blog), or the fact that she has very openly gone all in to publicly post her secret canon material (and pathetically begging proshippers to interact with every post, hungry for attention).

And, to any KC bootlicker supporters being like 'errm you wouldn't have found the freakycare blog unless you were looking for it, checkmate antis' I'll copy/paste what I replied to one who was harassing an anticare poster:

Related accounts get recommended to people due to tumblr's algorithm, don't be stupid now. If people follow interact with sparklecare and related tags/blogs, freakycare will come up too because a lot of you goons who post with freakycare tags also have posts on your blogs tagged with sparklecare AND cometcare (some even posting freakycare with those two aforementioned tags in the same post). If the same person is posting with the same art style and the same characters no shit the algorithm will show people. If people had to go out of there way to find it, it is unlikely it would've been found instantly by people. Also peep you, this supposedly anti harassment pro shipper going out of their way to harass and bother this person who's explicitly tagged their post as anticare. Hm! Curious! Maybe you should heed your own mantra and block/move on and curate your own experience by muting tags! But you guys are all hypocrites so who's shocked.

Without further ado, let's talk about how the quality of KC's art has taken a significant dip, especially comparing it to the initial Cometcare, which Freakycare directly parallels. I will not be going for the content itself, I'm sure I would be a broken record saying 'sexual harassment and covert incest is not cute or funny at all, and 'the way it's framed as a normal light hearted thing is abhorrent' over and over. Considering the first 'arc' is also called 'coming out' I think directly comparing being incestual to coming out as queer is quite frankly incredibly insulting.

Rushed art

We'll start with the most basic observation - the art is very rushed. There a distinct lack of care when comes to various aspects of the art that is most evidently seen in the inconsistency in how the frills on Ally's dress lines up between panels, nor how the bow does not connect properly. They are inconsistent and change wildly between panels that are right next to each other. It looks terrible.

Missing features

In various panels very basic assets of the character's design are just not there, such as Ally missing a star on her cheek so she has 3 instead of 4, the sleeves missing their frill lines, and Sly constantly missing the glasses' temples. Below you will also see Ally's whiskers disappearing periodically.

Copy/Paste job

It is actually not uncommon for artists to use the same panel with minor altercations between panels. HOWEVER, this is something that was not in the original Cometcare, as KC used to redraw the same pose entirely between asks. In Freakycare, however, this copy/pasting of panels is used extensively. Much less effort and in some cases, the erasing of the previous panel hasn't been done properly so there's distinct leftovers between them in the lineart.

Imprecise lineart

The lineart often doesn't connect properly or overshoots where it should stop. This also leads to things like weird dents in Ally's facial stars patterns.

Bad anatomy

Anatomy is of course subjective depending on style, but at the very least one would hope for consistency, or things making sense connecting to the body wise.

Cometcare VS Freakycare

Cometcare first, and then Freakycare second. I don't think it's controversial to say I think the art in Freakycare is worse in every single way. The shapes are much wobblier looking, the anatomy is worse, the character figures look stiffer, the speech bubble placement is less cohesive, etc.

In conclusion, this is quite literally slop. It is sloppy, rushed, and little care has been put into the art. I feel even if you are a proshipper incest lover, your standards should 100% be higher - this is the garbage you settle for? I guess quality doesn't matter when to someone who enjoys this content, the mere notion of incest being present is like having keys jangled in front of one's face to entertain them. It is no exaggeration to say not a single panel has any care put into it. KC is capable of better art, she just doesn't have a reason to try anymore. KC thoroughly rinsed money out of her former fanbase through patreon, and the merch drops - anyone left doesn't care.

KC gave up working on Sparklecare, and turned her back on the people who loyally enjoyed what came before for this. It is sad that the instant gratification from people who clap like seals for anything 'problematic' has caused KC's art and writing to degrade significantly. KC does not care what people think or believe, and that 100% extends to the victims of her and her associates. KC feels no remorse for doing things such as retraumatizing a fellow victim of incest in Imani, or triggering her partner so bad new alters of a traumagenic system were created to cope in Chaos, or willfully ignoring those who have reached out about her groomer pals. To KC, her fictional animals matter more than the real people she has hurt.

In addition I would argue this outright unsafe for KC to be doing, considering her family home living situation. Being back publicly to do so has further put a spotlight on her, and her actions.

Look who's in the likes, Woofles who groomed a 15 year old and is a self admitted pedophile/zoophile. Jk-tech too, who you may remember actively defended Oddballs, the real CSEM trafficking site. This is the type of person KC wants to cater to now.

And the greatest irony of all of course, is how page 161 from Sparklecare V2 directly calls out behaviour like KC's.

If you want something like Sparklecare or Cometcare to fill the void and not support KC, there's always the various projects by former fans.

In the future a few month down the line when more former fan projects are out I may make a second/continuation post promoting them.

Hiya! I was the advice anon from a few days back! First of thank you so so so so much for taking the time to not just answer but give such thorough advice! I really appreciate it so much, shared it with other friends of mine who have similar anxieties as I do. I really do appreciate it so much. Even if the internet isn’t how it used to be with less algorithms and numbers, I hope that I can still find my own enjoyment. I do have a best friend who I reconnected with 4 years ago and he gave me back that spark I was losing being one of the first people genuinely in love with my work much how I love his!

And yes please! I would love to hear your thoughts on meeting other creators and how to “launch” stories , and create that community! I love hearing the insight and introspection of fellow artists ! Everyone has different experiences that can be learned from and I just love reading what artists have to say about their work or methods ! Don’t worry about length, the more the better (of course please do not stress or worry about it, take all the time you need!)

Hey Anon, sorry this took a while to get to! I've been pretty busy. I'm glad you found the first post helpful!

Regarding audience building and finding other creators... as I mentioned, I have a lot of thoughts. Here's a bunch of slightly disjointed notes on I've put together…

AUDIENCE BUILDING TIPS FROM SOMEONE WHO KINDA DID IT:

TIP 1: FIND OTHERS WITH SIMILAR INTERESTS!

Making OCs and original stories can be kind of isolating compared to, say, fandom. Best we can do is find specific points to bond over.

What is your story about? Does it involve heavy research into a specific topic, like speculative biology or real-world history? Look up tags related to this and see if anyone else is doing characters or stories based around this topic.

Does it share a theme with a popular media property? See if you can sneakily trick some of the fans of that media property into looking at your thing, too. ;) For example, a high-fantasy story might do well to court D&D fans. If you're writing a romance story, try to think of other stories and popular fandom ships that share themes with yours. You can follow artists who draw for that fandom, draw fan art for it, or make an AU of your character in that setting. Or all of the above.

This can even apply to very superficial things. Like, is your main character a woman with red hair and glasses? Did you find another artist whose favorite OC is a woman with red hair and glasses? That's a connection opportunity! And chances are, that artist may have friends or fans who ALSO like red haired women with glasses. Superficial appearance might feel like a silly thing to bond over, but catching someone's eye with your design is often the first step toward them engaging with the character more deeply.

Of course, you shouldn't be doing this as a cynical attention-grab… I absolutely wouldn't recommend courting a fandom for something you don't personally enjoy, and I wouldn't recommend following artists purely in hopes that they follow you back. That's a recipe for feeling miserable and resentful when it inevitably doesn't "pay off" immediately. Building relationships and establishing yourself in spaces takes time, and it needs to be something you enjoy doing or you'll just feel frustrated and give up.

TIP 2: BE THE ONE TO REACH OUT FIRST, BE CONSISTENT, BUT HAVE REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS.

So you've found someone you think is cool! Their story has werewolves in it, and so does yours. You think their main character is pretty cool and would like to know more about them. (And, secretly, you want them to ask you about your characters, too!)

So, get the ball rolling! Go ahead and ask them about their guy! It's scary, but that's often what you gotta do. If, after a few messages, they seem amenable, you can eventually start dropping tidbits about YOUR guy and YOUR story. "Your description of how the transformation sequence feels is very vivid and cool! In MY OWN werewolf story, transformation goes more like this…" or "Your guy who hates his werewolf side wouldn't see eye to eye with my werewolf character, who sees it as a blessing because…"

See if they bite on that. If they don't, maybe they're just not interested. But a lot of creators are interested in that kind of connection!

Some caveats here:

While many artists love that sort of attention, some people can be kinda defensive of their creations and become standoffish and prickly when strangers try to chum it up with them about OC stuff. If someone is like that, leave them be and don't try to force it.

Super popular artists tend to have way more messages than they can keep up with. You're very, very unlikely to develop an equally reciprocal friendship with them as a stranger in a short amount of time, and it's absolutely not anything personal. That's not to say you shouldn't bother interacting with them, just don't feel stung if they don't respond or follow you back. (This kind of overwhelm happens at much lower levels than you might think!) In my own experience, friendliness with a popular artist tends to happen when you're a consistent positive presence over a long period of time (often multiple years, but at least a span of 6+ months). And even then you will not be in their "inner circle" with the friends they've known for a decade, and that's fine!

Artists with smaller followings are way more likely to be receptive to following you back and doing the reciprocal friendship thing.

TIP 3: FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT.

If you do manage to make a connection with someone, or get a friend or two on board with your story, commenting and sending asks and stuff publicly is extremely helpful for audience-building. Not only does it increase your visibility, but it gives shy audience members "permission" to comment themselves, and a template for what kind of comments you find agreeable. A lot of people will think "Oh I want to comment… but what if I say something wrong and they get mad? I'll just say nothing instead." If you demonstrate that you respond in a friendly manner, they'll feel more comfortable. People are herd animals like that.

Also, people love the audience engagement aspect of sending "asks" and seeing responses to comments drawn. It doesn't need to be an "ask", though--one of the first things I did for Amaranthine was draw Hyden reacting to people's tags. You could even invent a question no one actually asked and draw a response, just to show people that you are open to that kind of thing.

In fact, way back before Amaranthine, I proposed a plan to collaborate with my friends to astroturf audience engagement to launch a story by sending each other and ourselves fake anon asks with questions. I ended up not having to do that--Amaranthine's popularity caught me completely by surprise--but if I ever have to cold launch a brand new story, I would probably send myself some fake anon asks to get the ball rolling, hah. Feel free to steal this idea and try it yourself!

TIP 4: SHOW CHARACTER, SHOW LORE, OVERSHARE, AND DO IT OFTEN!

There are tons of characters on the internet. What makes them memorable is sometimes their design, but usually it's their personality and story. If people don't know anything about a character except their name, physical appearance, gender, sexuality, and three character traits, they might think "aw, that's a neat character!" but probably won't think much more than that. They may like the cool art but probably won't say a lot about it beyond #cool art.

But if you draw the same character living out their daily life, interacting with friends and lovers and enemies, hanging out in their messy room, a flashback to them as an angry teenager, a short mini-comic of the incident that got them expelled from necromancer school, all coupled with little lore tidbits that offer a deeper look into their life, world, and inner psychology… that's when they start feeling like a PERSON, not just a cool design. Couple this with the asks and stuff from tip 3 and they become "a person I, the viewer, can reach out to and engage with".

It feels vulnerable to put this stuff out there initially, when you're not getting much feedback. But by having this built-up library of art and info people can read through, new viewers will arrive, think "hey, this character seems cool!" and instead of stopping there, they'll binge on your archives. It's very fulfilling to see a new person find your stuff and then see a strong of "likes" on older pieces as they go through your story/OC tag.

…Also, people have short attention spans, and modern social media means a lot of people won't see and certainly won't remember everything you post. Kwillow and I occasionally joke about "whoa, I can't believe I got a question about a topic I already answered! Don't they remember this 1 single post I made about the topic four years ago?" NO, THEY ABSOLUTELY DO NOT. You need to restate things, repost things, etc because people are probably not paying THAT much attention. You can't just put it out there once, especially the really juicy stuff!

You also gotta stick with stuff even if it feels like it's not working. Put your stuff up on a bunch of different platforms and cast a wide net. You might only get 1 comment on Tumblr, but if you post it to Bluesky, DeviantArt, Instagram, etc, and each of those gets 1 comment, then that's 4 comments. Think of posting on other sites like extra slot machine pulls. Even the ones with bad odds are still worth doing when the cost to pull the lever is basically nothing.

TIP 5: THE BITTER PILL:

Bitter pill to swallow: Modern social media favors things that can be distilled down into hashtags/tropes/aesthetics. Furries, punks, cottagecore, monsterfucker, D&D-esque, enemies to lovers, princess-core, werewolves… the harder something is to reblog with #aesthetic, the harder it is to sell in general. It'll always be harder to sell Bob The Regular Human Guy's story than it would be to sell that same Bob as a furry, or Bob as a shy punk with a shipping-fanfic-trope-friendly crush on a guy at a coffee shop. This doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't try, but it is something to be aware of. Like, if your thing isn't doing social media numbers, odds are high it's not bad, just not hashtaggable enough.

This is one of the reasons I say to try to focus on yourself and a small group of like-minded friends first. You can't count on social media mechanisms to help boost you if you're marching to the beat of your own drum. You can try to use tropes and fandom for your benefit, as described in #1, but even so it's often kind of an uphill battle.

However, if you have a ton of energy and love for your project then the awesome glowing power of your passion will help draw people to you. People like that energy! It may never be huge social media numbers, but do remember that every single person who interacts with your stuff is A WHOLE ENTIRE REAL PERSON, and that's pretty damn cool. 10 notes on something is 10 entire people standing in your living room giving you the thumbs up.

Anyway, hope at least a few of these tips are helpful! The social media landscape for artists is, frankly, very bad right now, and if you are struggling and feeling discouraged you are not alone. But there are still ways to find each other even in this landscape!

after getting used to the controls and operations on social media and understanding the basic goal, or lack, of it–miguel had begun scrolling through his feed like you and lyla directed him to do. he scrolled and scrolled through the endless photos, videos, and posts sent his way by the very strange algorithm of the app. he still hadn't found the right thing for him on social media and he honestly wouldn't be here if you and lyla didn't force him to try it out so much, but when he least expected it... he happened upon your account.

he saw a photo of your back, it was you taking a selfie in the mirror with hardly anything covering your back. your behind was in full view but covered up, the lighting was dim, save for the flash of your phone's camera. the caption read: "for m, hoping you'll enjoy this three-course meal 🍓"

...that did something to miguel. it set some sort of feeling off of him, something that urged him to not just click like, but to comment right then and there: "who the shock is 'm'?" but if only he knew how to comment; all he knows how to do is click like and scroll.

he clicked the like button, unsure of how to feel about that very... eye-catching photo of yours. he tried shaking the feeling off, but he just couldn't; he couldn't stop thinking about it. he scrolled back up to see who else liked your photo, it took him a few tries to figure out how to do that. he also saw a few of the preview comments, complimenting your looks and tagging their friends who had 'm' in their names–joking that the photo was for them.

it pissed miguel off that these people could think your photos were for them, when you promised him you were all his. it damaged his ego slightly, but he figured these people were just douches, simple as that.

...but he needed to be doubly sure, so he click on your profile and looked through the posts you made. you really did love showing off your behind, it seemed like you were incredibly proud of it; miguel's totally in love with your ass, don't get him wrong, bur to know other people could see it and get to revisit the sight of your ass? oh, that made him feel a bit of a stinging pain in his chest.

he hated that feeling, where he felt like you were sharing intimate bits of yourself when you kept reminding and telling him you're all his. that, and as he scrolled through your comments, he saw a lot of people who not only loved your photos and sent you many compliments, but many who told you to get off the platform–many also catcalled you in the comments, too, much to his disgust.

"can't even keep this shit in real life, what losers." he muttered under his breath as he felt his anger rise as he kept scrolling through your comment section. he had gone through almost all of your posts, memorizing all the details of your posts and how you looked in them, feeling his face and chest flare up in a fit of heat as he looked through them all one by one. he sighed as he noticed you were a little too bold in these photos, in his opinion. he didn't want you to jeopardize yourself, seeing as how there were a lot of creeps on your account, he wanted to bring it to you attention.

hence, he messaged you all about his concerns.

"for... her mother?" miguel repeated to himself as he reread your message to him. he sighed, not believing your excuse one bit, believing you directed it to someone with an 'm' in their name, like him, but he decided to play along for now to get you to fess up eventually. that, and he doesn't think you'd wish your mom would have a lovely three-course meal with your ass picture, but he did see that you took pictures of food afterwards, so... it was plausible. but you were not off the hook yet.

he sighed as you laughed at his attempt at guessing who that post was for, who 'm' was. he felt a little embarrassed, a little ashamed he thought it was him, but then he thought of who would be closest to you, had 'm' in their name, and would enjoy the three-course meal that was... you already know what. he sighed as he typed and retyped his message after deleting the previous one, trying to get himself together after outing himself as being a little expectant that those thirst traps were for him.

he finally messaged you, trying to sound stern over text, but he was completely ignored by you when you sent him a selfie of your bottom half, with little letters on your bottom that read: "good????? bad????? should i get em....."

fuck, you baited him again.

he felt his cheeks grow hot and his breath hitch in his throat as he stared at your photo for a second, hoping you wouldn't post this, that this could remain as just a little thing between you two. but then again, he couldn't control you, so he'd just try to respond back–seeming unfazed. hopefully.

he was so easy to please sometimes.

It’s so fucking frustrating, good lord. Especially the posts complaining about a lack of content. Not only does it make the actual legitimate writing content harder to find, but it’s also just completely tone deaf the current harassment problem happening to fanfic writers. Like, don’t get me wrong, I’m also bummed out about the reader-insert drought, but as someone who’s been harassed off of previous writing blogs, you have to understand how those kinds of posts hit a sore spot for me.

Ah, yes. Btfm (derogatory) (<- and also written like that to avoid showing up in the Btfm tag). There’s honestly no way to talk about my grievances with Btfm as a concept without people thinking I’m a pretentious gatekeeper, so I’m not even gonna open that can of worms. Also, sorry to all my Jason-enjoyers out there. I love y’all, mwah. You guys are totally welcome in my humble abode. Your man, though? Yeah, no. I’m forcefully pushing him out the door with a broom. And with the current state of the Dick tag, it’s just given me more incentive to utterly despise that guy. Bro really comes in and fucks up everything, both in and out of the comics, LMAO. Kind of poetic, actually.

I made the OG post about this because of Dick. You’re totally right about it being applicable to a lot of characters on my masterlist (eye twitch), but it’s definitely the comic book men that are suffering the most. Weirdly enough, this isn’t as prominent of a problem with anime men and video game men. Like, there are still irrelevant posts in their tags, but those are spaced out enough with legitimate writing posts for it to be a nonissue. My poor Dick tag, though… if it’s not filtered out yandere Btfm or Jason posts, then it’s the memes/text posts/complaints issue or unspecified CW smut posts (I am 100% an advocate for writing whatever the hell you want, but PLEASE give the proper warnings beforehand; that includes any mentions of the reader’s gender).

I just… yeah. I’m taking one for the team and going back to totally SFW writing. We really are missing the essentials right now and it’s hurting the reader-insert ecosystem. I’ll drop the blog url when I finally post something.

(Also, before any of y’all translate this as me abandoning this blog, I’m not, don’t worry. I’m still working on shit here. Always have been. Nevah stopped the grind. I do want y’all to keep in mind that I write as a hobby, so there’s really no such thing as “a break” from this blog, and if anything, this blog is my “break” from life. A little treat from the horrors, if you will. Trust me, I wish I could post more often, but… nothing I can really do about real world responsibilities and stuff. Bwomp.)

But, yeah. You know what they say, be the change you wanna see in the world. I guess I owe it to the people after complaining so much about this. Lowkey, I think that’s also why the complaining posts rub me the wrong way. Why clog up the tags even further when you can take this as an opportunity to get a little creative? WIP Wednesday - 4/30/2025 (A Smell Can't Be Ineffable by @thinkinginscripts)

In this fic, Crowley, for whom most socializing centers around food and drink, loses his sense of smell and taste after a bout with Covid. As you can imagine, it upends his life. Then his friend recommends he meet Aziraphale, whose unique approach to anosmia brings some light back to Crowley's life.

Each session, Aziraphale describes the place and experience of exploring a different food or drink in an attempt to help Crowley's brain reconnect with his smell and taste receptors.

Although Crowley doesn't see fast improvement to his Covid-impaired senses, other parts of his body do start to appreciate his experiences with Aziraphale.

This fic updates daily and is nearly half finished. It's a low risk bet even for readers who normally avoid WIPs.

The story is an exquisite little gem. I smile the whole way through. And I'll be sorry when it ends. Check out the writer's description below. I hope you'll stop by and check it out. It's a ray of sunshine fic that I expect many will love as much as I do.

look, I'm not desperate for attention or anything. I'm fortunate enough that my art is just a fun hobby.

but I do feel a little bit salty when the time I put into something doesn't match the reward I get out of it.

my post popular posts are stolen memes from twitter and bluesky, stupid shitposts, and my insane political ramblings. those take anywhere from 10 seconds to five minutes of effort.

my art, on the other hand, I put so much time into that. I've been working on a huge project non stop for all of October, my celestial playing cards. and even my most popular post from that doesn't even have the fraction of the notes from the stupid shit I post in like a minute. my most recent piece has been in the works for literally a week straight, and it took me begging people to reblog for it to actually get any traction.

like, to me, the fun I have making something is always more important to me than the attention I get. creating art is what makes me happy. not some stupid number. but I would be lying if I said I didn't care about that stupid number at all.

and then I feel like a bitch for constantly reblogging my own art. like I'm desperate for attention.

and then at the same time I have to deal with stuff like this on ig

scammers and assholes like this who take advantage of the little guys. they prey on people who get very little traction and do stuff like this. "please give us money and also the rights to post your art and take all the credit". eat a bag of dicks.

Creating social media content was one thing people thought was very easy to do. But it really wasn't. Trends kept changing and the algorithm was absolutely ruthless. So life as a content creator was not that easy. Also, you hated the word influencer but kept being called that.

What you could influence, or should we say who you could influence, was your boyfriend. Because you had him wrapped around your finger and he'd do anything you needed him to do for you.

“Micky!”, you called while you walked around the house with your laptop in your hands. “I need your pretty face to get more likes. The last few posts didn't do well”.

“Huh?”

Micky took his earphones off to listen to what you were saying while he got up from the bench where he was lifting weights…shirtless.

“Give me a second…”, you said, placing your laptop on the floor and grabbing your phone to take a photo of your boyfriend. “That would get a lot of likes but it's going to my private collection. Not sorry”.

“What are you doing?”, laughed Micky.

“Brainstorming. I don't know what I can post next but I need you to be in the post. It gets more likes”.

“Brave of you to tell me you only want me for the likes”.

“I was literally drooling 10 seconds ago. I also want you for the abs”.

Micky laughed and kissed your cheek before finding a towel to remove the sweat from his face.

“We could do a couples workout. People like that”.

“It's not a bad idea”, you nodded, adding that to your list of potential post ideas. “I could get a brand to sponsor it if I wear their clothes”.

“I like it when you wear sexy workout clothes”.

“I bet you do…I'm fine with you only wearing your Spurs shorts like you're doing now. But wear a t-shirt if we film this video. Only I get to see you wearing so little”.

“You and my teammates”, he laughed.

“Yeah…lucky boys”.

At the beginning of your relationship, you were more reticent about posting about Micky. You were aware that dating him made your content more popular but you also wanted to build your own career without his help. Also, there was the worry that Micky would think you were just using him to get more popular on social media. But it was also so much fun to film content with Micky. And he joked but he didn’t mind being in the posts at all.

“I wish people knew how hard you actually work”, said Micky when he saw you sitting down on the floor writing.

So a week later, once you had the sponsorship you wanted, you both got ready to film the video. While you waited for him to get to the gym, you kept writing in your notebook the exact names of the clothes you had picked from the collection sent to you. You’d need to tag them on the post and people would want to know the exact model. Then you had to link the pieces on the stories you posted too…

“It’s a lost battle, babe. But let’s get ready for our video”.

The video performed well. You had told Micky to repost it on his stories a day after it was posted and that made the brand from the sponsorship happy because it drove a lot of traffic to their website. But reading the comments made you overthink. They were mostly positive but you noticed that what people liked were your interactions with Micky. They wanted to see the real you, not the parts where it looked like you were reading from a script. Because you were actually reading from a script.

“People like us”, you told Micky when you sat down next to him, still reading comments.

“I would hope they do…”.

“No, I mean they like our relationship. Our banter. There are so many comments calling us cute”.

“Well, we are cute”, said Micky, smiling and wrapping his arms around your waist to bring you closer to him. “We can make more videos together. You know I don’t mind”.

“Yeah…not so soon after this one. But I’ll ask people what content they want to see and I’m sure lots of requests will include you”.

“Your fans like me more than they like you then”, he teased.

“I can’t blame them for that. I like you quite a bit too”.

One of the things people wanted you to do was a Q&A. Easy content so you got a lot of questions ready for a live on Instagram where you could answer them.

“Alright, everyone. I thought I would make this a bit more fun by also baking while I answer your questions. And I’m terrible at baking so this should be interesting but…you can’t go wrong using cake mix, right?”, you looked at the camera pretending to be scared. “Right?”

The first few questions were the usual ones so you got those out of the way while you mixed all the ingredients. The oven beeped to let you know it had finished pre-heating so you put the cake mix inside of it and set a timer.

“Now I can answer questions better…”.

By the time you had already spent 10 minutes answering questions, you heard the front door. Micky wasn’t supposed to be back so early, which is why you were doing the live then.

“Hi! What are you doing?”

“Umm…a live on Instagram. Wanna say hi?”

The reaction to Micky joining the live was the one you’d have expected. But it also worried you because people would think you did it on purpose and you hadn’t.

“What were you doing? The kitchen is full of flour”.

“Baking…”.

“Baking a cake for me?”

“For both of us”, you laughed. “I also wanted to try and do a cupcake recipe but I already embarrassed myself struggling with the cake mix in front of our lovely audience”.

“I could help you do the cupcakes. So they all laugh at the both of us”.

The issue with livestreams was that you either were too worried about what people saw, like before Micky arrived, or you forgot there was a livestream going on. The latter happened when Micky joined you. It was so easy for you to forget the rest of the world existed when he was around.

“When did you learn to bake?”, you asked Micky, noticing how well he followed the recipe.

“I didn't”.

“You're really good at it for someone who didn't learn”.

“I guess I did a bit of baking with my family but I’m no expert”.

Once the cupcakes were ready to go in the oven, you both waited for the cake to be done and answered some more questions. The live had been going on for almost an hour by then.

“Should we decorate the cake?”

“What do you have for that?”, asked Micky, looking around.

“Frosting and sprinkles. I’m not going to the next edition of Great British Bake Off like you are”.

“They should invite me to the celebrities edition”.

“Hey Channel 4”, you said, looking at the camera. “You heard him!”

Micky thought you could write your names on the cake and then try and do some funny designs. A bit ambitious for someone who didn’t know how to bake.

“How big do you think this cake is, babe?”, you laughed. “Maybe we can write the names here and save the rest of the frostings for the cupcakes”.

“Ok…”.

You were also impressed by how nice his handwriting was…while using frosting. That just seemed unfair. But you were also used to Micky being good at almost everything he did.

“I’ll order my next birthday cake to the van de Ven bakery”.

“They’ll probably give you a discount too”.

“In exchange for what?”

“A kiss?”, he asked, leaning down to kiss you. Again, you had both forgotten about the livestream but the people watching were loving your interactions.

When the cupcakes were out of the oven, you mentioned decorating a few and ending the livestream. But when you were about to start, your mum called you.

“I need to answer this”.

“Ok guys”, whispered Micky to the camera when you were gone. “I made this one for her. What do you think?”

He showed the cupcake he had decorated with a bit of frosting to make a heart. Then he used sprinkles to write your initial. He saw the responses were mostly full of heart emojis and smiled.

“But we’ll need to finish this live now. It’s been going on for too long but it was fun. We’ll see you soon. Bye!”

Talking to your mum was always nice but you also couldn’t wait to eat some cupcakes so when you ended the call, you went back to the kitchen quickly.

“I ended the live”, announced Micky. “And made these for you”.

“Thanks…”.

Seeing all the different decorations on the cupcakes made your jaw drop. How on Earth did he manage that?

“You like them?”

“Are you for real? Have you always been an artist and kept that information from me?”

Micky laughed. “I just felt inspired today”.

“These are perfect”, you told him, kissing his cheek. “You’re literally the sweetest”.

“Sweeter than the cupcakes?”

You nodded, forgetting about the cupcakes to just focus all your attention on your sweet boyfriend.

What seemed like just an anecdote ended up becoming a tradition. A very sweet tradition. Soon after the day of the livestream, you went on a little work trip and came back home after 3 days out of the country. Knowing Micky was still at training when you got home, you just made your way to the room to take a shower. But then when you got back to the kitchen, you noticed a box on the kitchen island.

“No way”, you laughed picking up the box. It had van de Ven bakery written on it and when you opened it, you found more cupcakes baked by Micky. The order they were placed in spelled welcome home and your smile couldn’t get any bigger.

That started the tradition of Micky baking for you whenever you needed a little sweat treat. When you were working too much, when you weren’t feeling great or whenever you achieved something big. Micky always made sure to get cupcakes and cakes ready to make your life sweeter. But he still was sweeter than all the treats.

I've missed interacting with my lovely mutuals on here so I just wanted to do a quick update for you all.

And I'm sorry if I've missed posts I've been tagged in! I'm not ignoring, just been pretty offline lately. <3

This could probably come across really petty but I promise that's not my intention.

Like I said in my previous post, the algorithms on Tumblr have been messing with my account lately. I've noticed many posts of mine don't show up in tags, or simply get lost among other posts.

I get it... I REALLY do.

I understand. Y'know I used to be so excited to get Asks. It means someone wants to talk about art and silly cartoon characters with me. But now all I feel is dread. Not because I don't want to help, but because the help I give is never enough. I used to privately mesage back to those Asks, but one became 6 became 10 to... Well. I can't donate. Euros and dollars are valued a lot higher here, thus the opposite is also true. The value of our money is but a paltry bread's worth and even if I split it in crumbs, with the amount of people who approach me for help, it'll soon run dry, but I'm just a student who still rely on my parents financially. So I thought I'd share instead, but that quickly got out of hand. I post one thing and get multiple asks by the HOUR. I already had to apologize for struggling to meet demands before and I only had 3 or 6 rare to come-by short Asks about art. Now I have a hundred and counting I have to check personally. I didn't want to admit it, but I've also long been overwhelmed. I just didn't feel like I had the right to say so. I still don't. But the truth is, anyone can say they're verified too, which is terrible because not only will I be partially responsible for my followers who got scammed by bots or scumbags who take advantage of those at war with fake fundraisers, but even worse is that the help and money may not even reach those who actually need it. I thought I would be fine the first time. I don't really like posting too much about our depressing reality or watching news in general because my account was supposed to be a "safe SPACE" and a "nice little BUBBLE" for us to be happy and escape for awhile, so I didn't think much about reblogging it at first. I only wanted to help. But it just kept going and I got swept away. There's so many of them, but there's only one of me and I've been spiraling lately. So for now, I will no longer take any Asks about this subject (which I always avoid mentioning directly because the algorithm has it out for putting you guys down and I wanted you all to make it so I didn't tag those reblogs as such). I'll still take Asks provided they're related to my actual content and of course I'll still support raising awareness for Pal est ine, yet I also get it if this may appear selfish to some of you.
