More Cyberknight AU sketches... I can already tell I'll have to do something with this universe, considering how much I'm thinking about the world building, plot, characters...

Speaking of world building, gonna write down some of it under the cut, if anyone's interested... (it turned out to be....... a lot..............)

Alright, so obviously there's a lot of influence of medieval knight armor, so my first line of thought was adding some sort of magic system. Initially I was like "well, can't use the magic system I have in my original stories, since Revenant AU is based on that, and if I do that again it would be way too similar". I considered scrapping magic off this AU completely, because I didn't think I could make a magic system different enough from rev AU to not be just the same thing but To The Left. And then it hit me.

COD already has a magic system. In Zombies.

Now, the Aether is not really treated as magic, more like scientific phenomena, but it's practically magic, taking to account the field upgrades, and its effect on living being (zombies, and special zombies like manglers, mimics, disciples...).

And the moment I thought about that, everything started clicking together.

Picture this, post apocalyptic world. Operation Deadbolt failed, and the Aether spread from Urzikstan to the rest of the world. Decades later, humanity found ways to ward it off, leaving swaths of land infected with the Aether, quarantined away from the remaining human cities.

This quarantine isn't perfect, however, and certain Aether forms threaten the delicate peace on the cities. This is where the Cyberknights come in.

Using Aether portals (the ones in-game), they teleport deep into Aether territory, and with motorcycles traverse the land, tracking big Aether forms that pose a big enough threat.

Scientists have found ways to build weapons made of Aether. The more in the metal, the better, so guns were now dwarfed by the power of swords and spears. These new weapons use the Aether of fallen enemies as a power source, for charging a powerful attack (in-game they're called Field Upgrades, and I'm giving them a lore explanation as to why it takes a while to charge them, and why it charges by killing zombies).

There are a few types of Aether forms: Aether-Mechanical (think the Manglers from the game), native Aether forms (Disciples, mimics, Aether worm), and infected Aether forms (humans turned zombies). Because of that, each unit must include at least one of each: a mechanic (in charge of equipment, and the mechanical nature of Aether-Mechanical forms), an Aether expert (for teleporters, and Aether forms in general) and a fighter (acting as sort of a tank as the others work).

I also thought a bit about the 141's weapons and field upgrades, so here's a little blurb on each:

Soap - Wields 2 short swords, the right with Cryo Freeze (Ammo Mod in-game), and the left with Napalm Burst. Field Upgrade is Frenzied Guard: Killing zombies grants a shield, but all hostiles are attracted to Soap once he turns it on. This Field Upgrade is usually reserved for fighters, which Soap used to be, but he's now acting as a mechanic for the 141 unit.

The blue and red in his design are for his ammo mods, ice and fire, and the helmet obviously resembles his hairstyle. Originally I went for something more Scottish, but it didn't look exactly like I imagined (Scottish warriors were notorious for not wearing a lot of armor, and they kinda scared other cultures, sometimes carrying the head of their enemies to intimidate others. So metal haha).

Gaz - Wields a spear, that uses Aether as a sort of magnetic force, meaning he can throw it and pull it back. Field Upgrade is Energy Blast: turning it on will create a force field around him, pushing and injuring anyone attempting to get close to him (this is a modified version of the Energy Mine in MWZ, just thought I can make it more interesting).

The purple on his belt are Aether crystals, as he's the 141's Aether expert. The "horns" on his helmet are actually a detector of Aether forms (and they're there to look cool).

Price - Wields a foldable shield, and a short sword, with Brain Rot applied to it (Brain Rot will make a zombie turn to your side for a short while, attacking hostiles for a few moments before their head explodes). Field Upgrade is Healing Aura, which will... heal everyone around him, obviously. Price is the fighter of the 141.

Price is nicknamed "The White Knight", as a well known fighter with a long history of felled Aether superforms. The piece on his right arm (his right), is his shield in folded form.

G.H.O.S.T. is a robot, powered by Aether, the first of his kind. This means he uses 2 Field Upgrades: Aether Shroud, making him go invisible for a short while, and Tesla Storm, which channels bolts of electricity through his body and his teammates', as well as his knives, so he makes sure to throw them in tactical positions before activating this. The electricity doesn't hurt his teammates, their armor makes sure of that, but it will kill lower Aether lifeforms, and damage the stronger ones. G.H.O.S.T. is the secondary fighter of the 141.

G.H.O.S.T. - Wields several knives, that use a similar technology to Gaz's spear, meaning he can pull them back at will.

His design is based on the "Gilded Ghost" skin in-game, without the gilded part lol. The purple parts are the Aether powering his mechanical body.

For the story, I have something planned... but I don't wanna spoil you lmao. I was thinking a lot about Soap, who (if I make a fic which lets be honest I probably will) will be the POV.

Soap joins the 141 mainly as a mechanic. Each unit has a fighter, a mechanic, and an Aether expert. Gaz is the Aether expert, and Price is the fighter, G.H.O.S.T. acting as a support for Soap when the unit splits up. Soap comes from the northern territories, so he's very different from the rest in terms of his background, basically an outsider. He used to be a fighter, but a knee injury forced him to change positions. All members of a unit can fight, but it's not their main job, bar the fighter of course. He feels bitter about that.

He finds in G.H.O.S.T. an odd companionship, considering the robot can't feel. His AI is exceptionally advanced, so he does talk unnervingly, almost like a human. Soap often just rants, talking about his home city, about the life he used to have, and G.H.O.S.T. listens with no complaints, not that a robot can really complain.

It all changed on one fateful deployment, where Soap and G.H.O.S.T. get separated from the rest, and Soap finds the truth behind G.H.O.S.T.'s technology...

That's all I'm gonna leave you with for now, haha. As you can probably tell, I spent a lot of time playing Zombies in MW3 (idk I just find it a good way to relax), so I really enjoy trying to think of explanations for each mechanic, and how the world would look like 50 years in the future.

Using the COD zombies fandom wiki i came to a rough estimated age of 28 for Richtofen during the time of origins.

I first figured out Eddie Richtofen's birth since he was apparently 45 in 1991 which gave me the year 1946 as a birth year and taking away 1946 away from 1954, the year he was taken into the orphanage, it gives us the age of 8 and if we assume he remained the same age of when he died in the aether story line and getting to the new world be would take that away from 1898, the year where is parents/himself dies, it gives us the birth year of 1890 and 1918 is the year origins is set place which would make him 28.

His ultimis counterpart in Der Riese would be 55.

This is all just guesstimations, using a not so fully trustworthy source so there is a lot of room for corrections and mistakes.

In honour of the last dungeon meshi Thursday (I know it’s Wednesday, shut up)

Minecraft cooking!

Where I go through the mob bestiary and treat it like a cook book.

Chicken, cow, pig, goat, rabbit, horse, wolf, sheep, cat, cod, salmon, tropical fish, llama- you know what these are, you don’t need me to explain. Both Laios and I are bored, moving on.

Villagers, pillagers, piglins- don’t eat people. I know piglins are half pig but listen. DONT EAT PEOPLE! You know the orcs? This is the same thing.

All zombies ever- technically edible. We’ve all eaten rotten flesh. Senshi would not be proud of us, it’s not very nutritious. Also, cannibalism.

Skeletons- I guess you could make a soup stock. But they’re better for fertilizer.

Vex and allays- ghosts. I don’t think we can make sorbet here either. I don’t think they work like that.

Bats- very small, not much meat. Hard to find and catch. But if you’re in a cave and in a pinch or just curious, sure why not

Puffer fish- cook very carefully. Probably just better for potions. But you can eat puffer fish, your chef just needs to be trained in how to cook it.

Mooshroom- now we’re talking. Beef, but with mushrooms. Comes with mushroom soup too. Usually raised for soup rather than meat, but still a good source of meat that’s pre seasoned.

Squid- mmmmm calamari… Laios enemy… also good for squid ink. I hear it goes well with pasta.

Cave Spider- venomous, could technically remove the poison like with puffer fish and boil the spider but I dont know. Small but have spawners, so you’ve have a steady supply

Spider- not venomous, and bigger. So I guess you could. Probably taste like giant scorpion since they’re both arachnids.

*dont eat spider eyes, they’re poisonous

Endermen- for personal reasons, I will not be eating endermen. They don’t even want to fight unless you antagonize them. More importantly, don’t eat endermen, it’ll probably fuck you up. They’re built for the end and full of chorus fruit. They’re also so skinny, not much to eat there. Ender pearls have a chance of giving you a parasite. And will probably teleport your stomach out of your body. You could try but it’s probably like jerky and you’ll see god.

Incidentally, I think chorus fruit tastes like vanilla

Polar bear- probably very tough meat. Very gamey. Beware though, they eat people too

Iron golem- that’s a robot. Don’t eat metal. DONT EAT REDSTONE! ITS RADIO ACTIVE.

Snow golem- probably makes good ice cream. Don’t eat it. Let it make ice cream. It’s just snow after all. It would just taste like water.

Blaze- it’s more of a spirit than an animal. Good for potion making, probably not tasty. A central core surrounded by rods, maybe that core has some meat on it, probably tastes a little spicy.

Striders- why? Why would you eat these poor babies? What did they ever do to you? They’re probably reptiles, so you could definitely eat them but could you live with that knowledge?

Elder guardian- really old puffer fish. Cut carefully for good sushi. But it’s such a hassel, you’re better off having a puffer fish. Plus, they’re endangered, so like, come on.

Guardian- jokes on you, it’s hollow on the inside. Check the mob bestiary, they have no internal organs. Could probably get some meat from the outer flesh but that’s also the spikes, so beware.

Ender mite- remember those parasites from ender pearls? This is them. Could def cook them though. They’re fair sized and full on meat. You’re probably be tripping balls though.

Ghast- like a squid, but balloon. They are filled with gas, to allow them to fly. So much like a dragon, likely have a gas sac that could contain gases that could ignite, be careful. But sky octopus. Lots of meat.

Magma cube- slime but spicy. Magma cream is probably yummy. We know it’s ok to ingest because it’s in potions, so I think it should be ok to eat. Just wait got it to cool a little

Slime- senshi has recipes for these buggers.

Shulker- I can only assume it tastes like living armour. It’s definitely a mussel

Silverfish- it’s a bug, it’s big, enjoy.

Wither skeleton and the wither- please, for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT EAT THE WITHER! THIS IS HOW WE GET THE PLAGUE! YOURE GOING TO GET WITHERING AND DIE!

Sniffer- I know they’re really big, I know they’re probably full of meat and they have eggs, but look at their little faces. Could you really eat them?

The Ender dragon- I mean, you beat her, might as well I guess. Apparently dragon is delicious. But also, probably full of the end, probably going to fuck yup up a bit

And now, for the big one

Creeper- as we all know, creeper skin feels like dry, crunchy leaves. It’s a moss monster with a tnt block inside. So, if you carefully cut around the explosive, you now have a very dangerous vegetable. Thick “meat”, might make a good salad.

I love how Shi No Numa can be considered among the least popular/played maps, yet manage to exist in 4 different COD installments (World At War, Black Ops 1, Black Ops 3 and Vanguard)

It really helps that its easter egg song, The One, is just that iconic. It's such a beautiful depiction of the zombies' perspective.

Sorry if it took a long time to get this my friend @pin-crusher2000 but after much looking over and consideration, here shall be my answers ;-)

1) Oh too easy; either ancient Kryptonian and Tamaranean warriors from their history, fighting against their numerous enemies whether it be the Gordanians played by their plushies or even each other as a fair duel, so basically Space warriors OR As a Royal Prince and his Bodyguard Knight against demons and enemy knights like in a fantasy world akin to D&D

2) Chris = Han Solo

Jake = Greedo

and yes Han Blasts Greedo First

3) Okay So, the Kents and Graysons would find themselves waking up in a corrupted and twisted version of Bludhaven, swarming with hordes of the red eyed Undead, hellhounds, Demoniac Bats, and even Three Headed Canines (functionally the latter two are akin to the Parasites and Margwas). They have their superpowers albeit severely dampened and diminished to which they can only take down at most the zombies at the same time before they need to strike again.

The basic story is that before being sent here, the four were tipped on what was a summoning ritual by some cultists who were trying to summon Trigon, likely led by Brother Blood and while they prevent Trigon himself from coming out, the spell was corrupted and activated anyways so now it’s up to our heroes to gathered enough of their strength and find the source of these demonic Zombies in order to escape this Hell. Guiding them though would be one young voice; a girl who sounds no older than Mar’i but intelligent and willing to help them as they traverse this hellish city in exchange for also helping her, wherever she may be. This ancient evil beyond their imagination summoned by those cultists and their sins was invited and she concludes there’s far more to them than this…how their very world maybe even their multiverse itself is now in danger and they can stop it with her…..her name is Samantha, she’s going to tell them how all of this really began.

While not exactly Wonder Weapons in the traditionally sense, the Mystery Box would grant our heroes gauntlets, capes, headbands like what Chris and Mar’i wear and other accessories which do grant them enhanced powers that function like them. One gauntlet Jake can equip on his gloves can cause a chain reaction electric shock to the Zombies he punches a la the Wunderwaffe DG2. The map itself while a sprawling city with a central hub in the City Square with branching areas including the Dockyards, Downtown, the Suburbs, Bludhaven Stadium and the Pack A Punch location being Titans Tower, has numerous Kino/Der Riese style walkways, barriers and corridors allowing players to vary their play styles whether it be camping, training or going with the flow.

So yeah basically a combination of Mob of the Dead, Shadows of Evil and Maur der Toten with a tiny pinch of Origins

4) Mar’i; she trounces all of the boys without any fail but doesn’t cheat. Her secret is to always get rid of her cards that have the lowest number first

writing for young kid characters can be hard but a good trick is to give them one Big Interest! it's the most important thing ever to them, they want to talk about it/engage with it at all times, and they'll derail conversations without hesitating just so they can say the same Fun Fact they said an hour ago. bonus points if somehow the Big Interest fits with the themes; in this case Kaylee could be all-in on a certain animal, a predator, and want to talk about how it hunts its prey, paralleling Lalo and Nacho. or maybe she's obsessed with some children's media that's a reboot/continuation of something Nacho liked when he was little, and her trying to get Nacho to engage with it echoes the way he feels his loved ones want to keep him stuck in childhood

as for dialogue, I'd say the best thing you can do is not phonetically write out the Kid Lisp, it's only ever annoying lol. also remember they jump between ideas very quickly and interrupt a lot. good luck with Kaylee's character!

thank you anon, very useful!! I hate writing out accents in general LOL, I find if they're not very subtle then it just takes away from the story. it's much more appropriate and easy to read if you utilize narration and dialogue tags, imo!

Oof. I think I've said this before but my favorite fic is always the one I'm currently writing. Like, once a fic is done, I hope it loses my number because it is dead to me.

That being said, I'm really fucking proud of Songs for the Zombie Apocalypse (for a lot of reasons) so I'm going to say that one. And also... Normal Frenemy Shit because it has maybe my favorite Spideypool scene I've ever written in it. And the wound fucking, of course.

Man. Okay. Well, I already mentioned the Normal Frenemy Shit scene (the eating on the obligatory rooftop "date" one). The ninth chapter of Hang Me Up to Dry (SFTZA). Annnnd, let's say the closet scene from every star for you because the world needs more wlw smut.

Just wrote? Not published? I mean, I'm not done but I'm definitely over 400k. (Also, I can't believe you always make me share my shame inducing numbers with you.)

Mobius. If you had asked me before I watched Loki, I'm not sure what my answer would have been, but now it's Mobius. I love him as just Some Guy™️ with the dad jokes and swag to capture a god's attention. He's such a compelling character, and so, so different than a lot of the representations of "men who work for authority" we get. He's just the guy that said, "I can fix him" and then actually did. The order to Loki's chaos.

14. a fic you didn't expect to write

A Particular Set of Skills. I really, really didn't want to start a whole other fucking fic for those two, but Black Ace captivated me and it couldn't be helped.

15. something you learned this year

I AM CAPABLE OF WRITING THINGS THAT DON'T END IN ROMANCE. Don't get me wrong, I love romance and am glad to be back in fluff city, but for so long it felt like every fucking thing I wrote ended not just with a happy ending, but with a romantic one. I like happy endings, and I'm not going to cull them from my stories forever, but it's nice to know that I have the skill (now? always?) to write something that isn't (strictly) romance.

Sapphic gothic horror here I come.

I'm going to pick something that so far away from a fandom I would typically participate in. Not because I don't like it, but I just wouldn't come in contact with the source material.

Poison Apple by surveycorpsjean which is a SoapGhost (COD) fic that scratches some of my worst itches. (You recommended it to me so thanks!)

Here I was, so proud of myself that I could come up with an answer to the last question, and you hit me again. Is this where I admit that I don't read a lot of fics? 😬 Okay. Okay. No. I have one. I think everyone should read it because it's entertaining as hell (and a super quick read, too!), but I definitely think that writers should read it so they can see just what kind of shit you can do with limited words and only dialogue.
