Why Korean Celebs Pose With Food Trucks
Supporting From Friends
Tumblr media
During the filming of K-Dramas or movies, friends of Hallyu stars will send food trucks to express their support. It usually means that they wish the drama or movie to be a success and that the shooting process will be smooth-sailing.
Fan’s Love
Tumblr media
It’s not just friends or colleagues who send these trucks. Fans would chip in together a fanclub to show their support to their beloved celebrities by sending a customisable food truck. This is why you see some food trucks are plastered with the star’s picture.
Why Do They Send
Tumblr media
During busy filming period, both casts and crew usually do not have any time to dine outside filming locations. There are times where their filming locations are in remote areas too, making it hard for them to get drinks or food. This is why a food truck is great for friends or fans to express their care for the stars and dozen of crew working hard.
Food Truck Sent By A Friend
Tumblr media
As the food truck trend has been becoming more common and popular Internationally, even fans from overseas are sending food truck to celebrities. There was even a time where a Filipino actress sent food truck to actor Ji Chang Wook.
Food Truck Sent By Friends
Tumblr media
There are many celebrities which have well-known friend relationship. One of the best examples is the famous Wooga Squad. Park Seo Joon and Choi Woo Sik from the squad had sent V a food truck as V was jealous of Jungkook who received one.

TIPS FOR LEARNING KOREAN!
HI!!! I'm Korean, but most of my communities are English-speaking, so these are my tips to improve fluency, retain knowledge in, and learn Korean!
Tumblr media
1. Consume media in Korean
There's a bunch of Korean language entertainment, especially recently. I'll make a separate post on this one, but video games with Korean dubbing/text, k-drama, manhwa, etc. is very helpful!
2. Talk out loud
Even if you have no one to talk to in Korean, try reading your written/text work out loud! Even if it seems silly, it helps a lot more than you'd think.
3. Research Korean culture/history
Language is a part of society, so things that you may not understand in Korean could start making sense once you learn why it's said like that!
4. Don't overwork yourself
Rest is important. If you study too much, you may lose the practical/fun aspect to the language, and it can make you burn out! Don't do that.
5. Ask for help
If you know anyone willing to help, ask! My asks are always open for any questions that you may have ♡

Hi! I’m hoping to study abroad next spring at Yonsei for art history. How exactly can I be sure what classes Yonsei has for this? The course catalogue is a bit confusing with all the different tabs available
Yonsei Course Search
Thank you for asking this I think this is really important to know! Yes it it quite tricky to understand. There's a whole process for searching courses. It is recommended to use Internet Explorer for Yonsei's registration. Set an automatic translator so it will immediately have it all in English. Their registration is super complicated and can easily screw you over if you don't look at every detail. I noticed looking at the Yonsei portal that the layout is different from when I attended. So the process for you may differ.
With the translator working hopefully you can follow these steps.
Change the Academic year to 2023
Choose semester (학기) to semester 1 (Spring)
Check the box "Courses in English"
Next to "Keyword" change category to "course name" and start entering for ART, HISTORY, etc
Once you find a course you think is good (this might take some time) there are many things you have to check before you can confirm that you qualify to register
CHECK
Far right column has a Y!!! for exchange
LOCATION IS SINCHON
Tumblr media
3. explore these boxes for more course info (IEE3597 is the course # for Arts of Asia)
4. Check the second icon to make sure the outline is in English
5. CHECK M icon for "Mileage Course Registration" If you're not sure what this is, Yonsei gives a certain amount of "bidding points" to register for courses. When you register you choose how many points you want to give to compete to get into the class. You get 72 points.
It is really important to check that the course was available the previous year or semester. Because for some reason the search results will show courses that have been gone for years.
And lastly check "Mileage Ranking Results" and see the average bidding points used to get in the class. This is really important because Exchange courses are super competitive (bc they don't offer enough courses for exchange students...)
PHEW well I know that was a lot of information. I wish you and any future Yonsei students the best because I know how stressful the whole process is.
*Yonsei requires all exchange students to register for a minimum of 9 credits a semester
I really recommend joining the Yonsei Study Abroad group chat on Kakao to ask current students for course recommendations
Good Luck! :)

China continues SCARY electric car growth - up 87 percent!
The Electric Viking
China continues SCARY electric car growth - up 87 percent!
P.S. American, Japanese, Korean and European legacy automakers missed the start of the electric car revolution already in 2017. At that time, it was the last moment when important decisions had to be made in order not to lose the race to be the first to be able to mass-produce affordable long-range electric cars. The arrival of the MG4 and BYD Atto 3 on the European car market is just the first warning sign of what will happen in the car market in the next four years, when Chinese car manufacturers will easily be able to grab a significant share of the affordable electric car market without any competition in Europe...

6 Must Have Food On Chuseok
1. Songpyeon
Tumblr media
Chuseok wouldn’t be the same without Songpyeon. These are small rice cake that are traditionally steamed on pine needles. They are shaped like crescent which symbolises future prosperity and come in vibrant colors such as pink, orange, and green. Songpyeon is usually served for dessert as they contain sweet filling like red beans or brown sugar.
2. Pajeon
Tumblr media
While commonly referred to as Korean Scallion pancakes, the word pajeon actually comes from pa meaning scallions and jeon which refers to food that is pan-fried in batter. Although there are different types of pajeon such as the haemul pajeon (seafood scallion pancakes), the plain version is traditionally served at Chuseok. It is best eaten with a simple dipping sauce made of soy sauce, vinegar and toasted sesame seeds.
3. Perilla Leaf Jeon
Tumblr media
Perilla leaf jeon consists of meat filling wrapped in a perilla leaf that is folded into half and then dipped into a seasoned egg batter before pan frying. Perilla leaves are type of herb that is commonly eaten with meat at places like Korean barbeque restaurants. Its minty taste help balance the greasiness of barbequed meat.
4. Wanjajeon
Tumblr media
Wanjajeon are mini meat patties made of beef, pork, or both that are dripped into egg batter and then pan fried. Korean often call these dong-geu-rang-ttaeng which roughly translates to “circle coin” due to its small and round appearance. While wanjajeon was customarily only eaten during festive season like Chuseok, it is commonly included in everyday lunch boxes nowadays.
5. Galbijjim
Tumblr media
Galbijjim refers to Korean braised short ribs. It is often made with beef short ribs although pork ribs work just as well. While it was once regarded as a dish eaten only by the wealthy, today galbijjim can be eaten during festive holidays or special occasions such as birthdays and weddings.
6. Tri Colored Namul
Tumblr media
Namul refers to seasoned vegetables that are eaten as side dishes with regular meals. These serve to balance out the heavier dishes eaten during Chuseok. Tri-colored namul is made of different types of seasoned veggies in 3 colors - green, black, or brown, and white. The most traditional combination consists of sigeumchi namul (seasoned spinach), seasoned Korean bellflower roots and seasoned Korean bracken/fernbrake.

KOREAN MEDIA!
Some pieces of media that I personally enjoyed that may help retain your Korean :)
Tumblr media
games
1. Mystic Messenger (dating sim)
-> Korean voiceover in calls, visual novel mode, and stickers!
-> good for learning how Korean people text in general; may be a little outdated, but not inaccurate at all
-> text can be changed to Korean, English, Spanish, or Chinese
2. StoryTaco games (otome game company)
-> all of them are written in Korean
-> only some (i.e. secret crossing) have voice acting and can be very sexual
-> you can change the language, but since there's little to no voice acting, I recommend using it for reading practice
shows & movies
1. Physical 100 (reality TV show)
-> reality tv series about athletes (etc.) and athleticism
-> there are a lot of different dialects and accents, and you can listen to how real people talk
-> they swear sometimes LMFAO
2. Single's Inferno (dating show)
-> so I like reality TV, sue me
-> flirting in Korean mostly
music
trot (older Korean music, similar to enka)
-> Hong Jin-Young's Love Battery is a good place to start, and maybe Shabang Shabang
-> more popular with older folkx (아줌마들 ㅋ)
-> might get called 촌스러워 but who cares
k-pop (Korean pop)
-> I am not elaborating on this because I'm not particularly into it, but there's quite a big fanbase, so it shouldn't be too hard to find something and take a listen
homebands/k-indie bands (Korean underground style music)
-> very edgy (?) I wanna say
-> some popular/more mainstream ones are Jannabi, Black Skirt, 10CM, and SE SO NEON
manhwa
TBA because I can't think of any rn LOL
