"Hey Pete, what's up?-"

"I.. I need help..now...", Harry was immediately on edge, as he heard his best friend and secret crush, speaking quietly from the other side of the phone.

"Where are you." Any other questions have to wait, if Peter Parker asks for help, it's more than serious.

"I'm in my Lab, at Horizon. Just- please hurry...?"

"I'll be there in five." With that the raven hung up and grabbed his glider, it'll be the fastest. Yes, his best friend knows that Harry is the Goblin, as well as he knows that the other is the Spiderman- just another reason to worry! If spiderman asks for help, instead of doing a solo trip- it's a deadly threat to the whole of new york or even more. Even though it was sorta weird... Harry could have sworn it sounded a little like a whine?

It's already late enough for the sun to set, and of course only Petey-boy is in school. All the better, no one saw Harry get there so fast. He hammered on the locked door.

"Pete! What happened!?" The door opens and the young Osborn stumbles as he rushes in, scanning the room to find... nothing. Well, except Peter that is, who's sitting at his desk with his hood up. Then the door closes.

"...promise you won't laugh..."

"wha-... What's going on-"

"Just promise, okay!?" Harry staggered a bit. was... Was that growling?!? Harry nods, still a bit red in the face from the speed he came in with. In return, Peter also nods and then takes his hood off...

"It's really, very embarrassing. I had a little accident- just don't!" The brunette pouts, as he already sees his best friend, and also secret crush, beginning to smirk. He sighs in relief and even huffs a little chuckle. It doesn't help the fact that Peter's fluffy new uhhh... Appendages? Are tugged tightly to his body, while his whole face grows bright red in absolute embarrassment. "Aaahhrg!! It was a mistake to call you! I'm sorry...", the puppy hid in his arms, crossed on his desk. He WISHES he could just sink into the ground... Well, technically maybe not the ground, since this isn't the ground floor. So how could that even work? Where does this saying even come from? From sinkholes? Must be, since the hypothetical state of super liquid was only hypothetically found later on...or did it-

-"Damn, Peter... You really had me worried for a moment there. You okay, aside that?" Harry leans against the desk, standing next to the other, who simply nods once still hidden in arms. Slowly he calms himself down, from the thoughts of what would happen if super liquid Peter would seep into the floor. "...you know, they're not that bad?? I mean, I think- ONE MIgHt think, one, that it's... -How did it happen anyway?" The raven tries to change the topic, as he feels the heat sneak onto his face of nearly admitting to finding his best friend cute. Oh boy... Harry definitely deserves a medal for surviving this evening. Especially now: the still embarrassed, but less red, pouting puppy slowly comes out of his hoodie-fortress of solitude and, god bless, his fluffy tail's slightly wagging from the implied praise. This is way too adorable, that Harry would have ever forgiven him, if it wasn't him he called first. Never ever.

"I...I took a sample of the goo, last time one of those human-animal hybrids led us to an outpost... Since there's been an uprising of those incidents lately and the composition is different from Warren's work. These guys must've based it on his work, but complicated it to make it more efficient- the core structure is at least similar enough to believe so..." He comes out more, his tail wagging casually from his little nerdy tirade, the raven could only smile at that. What a dork... His dork. "ANYWAY!!- What I meant to say is, I just managed to break it down a little, which is why these symptoms are so small apparently..."

"Okay, that explains... your situation. Did you find out anything else?"

"Uhhh.... Yes, actually! There has to be direct skin contact with the goo, for an "infection" to start and according to my calculations, these symptoms should seize after a couple hours, due to my simplifications... But I just CAN'T go home like this!! What would aunt May say!?-" Peter drifts into a little panic, but Harry on the other hand can't really concentrate on anything other than his crush looking freaking adorable. He can't get it off his mind, most definitely not, when he gets reminded with a flick of an ear, nor by their constant bouncing when the brunett gestures wildly again.

"Hey, Pete. May I.. try something?" Said person cocks his head slightly to the side, like the curious puppy he currently is and nods. And he swears- if this was an anime and not real life, he'd be in the ground already. Here lies Harry Theopolis Osborn, died of blood loss from constant nose bleeding.

He slowly reaches over to him, carefully beginning to pet the other. At first the puppy is a bit sceptical, when slowly and gradually he starts enjoying it. His tail is fully wagging, he's leaning forward and further into the other's touch. Literally, best feeling ever right now.

While Harry just can't anymore. Not only does he demand a platinum medal, a gigantic feast and ceremony, as well as a city key when this is over, for an outstanding amount of self control! He is so lost in thoughts, he doesn't realise that he stops petting, until some small whimpering breaks him free. Peter looks up at Harry with his big, green, sparkling eyes and droopy ears.

"..why did you stop..?" It really took every last ounce, drop and smudge of self restraint, not to kiss and pounce him. But instead Harry took a deep breath, couldn't help but smile and kept petting. Sure, he loves Peter, with the whole of his heart. ...which is exactly why he won't try anything that might just scare him away. Harry wouldn't know what to do, if he'd lose him in any way. So he just keeps quiet for now. His thoughts start spinning again, as Peter fully enjoys this simple touch of affection and closeness. Very quietly, the raven mumbles something under his breath:

"...you're my adorable dork..."

So I finally caught up with the Spider-Man 2017-2020 cartoon (it doesn't have a unique name but it's the Parksborn one), and Harry Osborn continues to be my fav character in season 3! I just adore how the show wrote his character and his whole arc is fantastic! My fav version of Harry because they got everything right about him and his friendship with Peter was cute!

Carolyn 'Lady Octopus' Trainer from Spider-Man (2017 Animated Series)

I wanna give a little shoutout to Marvel's Spider-Man (2017) Carolyn Trainer & how similar she is to the original comic book version.

See's Otto as an icon, looks up to him & admires him (basically worship, just like the comics)

Works in computer science (tho in the comics was more VR, in this it's more hacking)

Her voice seems to match what I think Carolyn would actually sound like in the comics (but that's just personal opinion. Tho less up-speak, plus I think her voice would be deeper too)

While yes, she's a little bit off from the original version of Lady Ock, she's still pretty close, and I appreciate that as someone who is quite hyperfixated on multiple Doc Ocks, especially Carolyn.

Then Carnage crashes the Symbiote invasion to square up with his father/ex?

(Yes, this is set in MSM 2017 bcz I’m biased. Also, it has the best Parksborn.)

Mostly angst & hurt/comfort from Harry’s POV. Can also be read on AO3.

Harry is in his dad’s company building. He already knows the place but he’s mostly there to spend time with the person who knows him most. 

There’s a bite. He barely notices the inflamed skin before the nausea overtakes. He knocks a door off its hinges, his body burns, his hands stick to everything- his feet are stuck to the ceiling, he’s walking on the ceiling like it’s nothing.

He experiments. He’s stronger, faster, sharper, and he loves it.....but it’s lonely. Norman doesn’t notice the items he accidentally breaks, never even bothered to ask if he felt okay after the bout of sickness from the field trip. He doesn’t notice and doesn’t care. 

Harry tells himself it’s normal, he doesn’t need his attention, he’s a busy man....but god, he craves some validation. It didn’t matter who it came from, he just wanted a taste of it. 

He goes over to the Parkers but even Aunt May’s sandwiches & Uncle Ben’s warmth can’t erase the hollow pit in his stomach. Peter tries to cheer him up with TV cartoons they binged when they were kids. Instead, a wrestling channel comes on. 

Harry hears the crowd cheering and he sees the award money.

He sees an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

And well, Osborns were nothing if opportunistic.

Peter & Ben notice his excitement. Harry vaguely says he has something big planned.

Peter wishes him luck, Ben reminds him with great power comes great responsibility.

All Harry could think about was how with great power comes great reward if properly used.

Harry is humiliated and so very angry. Sure, he won but only after getting his ass thrown around. Still, it’s not the bruises that ache, it’s his pride. At how callously the man cheated him out of the prize money, offering a measly $50 to rub salt into the wound. He’d wanted to give the money to Peter, maybe buy him something nice. There goes that plan.....

Yeah, he lets the thief go. Oh, he stole the prize money? Boo-hoo, that’s not Harry’s problem, is it? Serves the asshole right.

Then he sees Uncle Ben with a bullet in his chest. 

Harry washes his hands until his skin is raw but Ben’s blood perpetually stains his nails. He doesn’t go to the Parkers' house because the image of their heartbroken grief was still hauntingly vivid in his memory.

Instead, he puts his brains and money to use, tracking down the murderer to make him pay, make him hurt, make him bleed, it’s only right-

He sees the culprit’s face and Harry has to live with the fact that although he never pulled the trigger, he may as well have shoved Uncle Ben in front of a firing gun.

Peter loves Spiderman.

He gushes over his powers & gear; hell he tries to make his own goddamn webshooters. Peter supports Spiderman & sees him as a symbol of hope.

Harry doesn’t share the sentiment. Peter assumes he hates Spiderman and well...he’s not too far off, is he?

Harry does hate Spiderman. 

He hates himself. 

Hates how he did nothing that night; hates how it took losing Uncle Ben, the only positive father figure he had, to wake him up; hates how it took making all the Parkers suffer from his inaction to truly push him to be better not for his father’s approval but to atone.

But what he hates most isn’t even his inability to tell Peter his greatest secret; it’s his cowardice to confess his biggest sin.

That he’s the reason Uncle Ben was buried with a bullet in his chest.

Would Peter still admire Spiderman if he knew?

Would he still love Harry?

He doesn’t find out. He doesn’t want to and he hate hate hates himself for it.

Miles gains powers. He wants Spiderman to mentor him and fuck, Harry avoids that like the plague.

Miles is disappointed. 

Good, he should be (because that’s all Harry will ever be).

Eventually, he tells Peter. If he can’t tell the boy he loves him, he can at least tell him why he shouldn’t love Harry.

Peter is furious. Harry doesn’t blame him.

.

Peter forgives him. Harry doesn’t believe him.

But this is Peter-can’t bullshit to save my life-Parker. No, it’s Peter-always sees the good in others-Parker. It’s Peter, the boy who’s always been there for Harry not because he’s an Osborn but in spite of it.

(Norman made him abandon fairy tale whimsies a long time ago but god, if soulmates were a thing, Harry dared believe that’s what he & Peter were.)

Peter doesn’t hold his hand, but he squeezes it before he faces Aunt May.

He confesses that he was there. That he let the culprit get away. That, at the time, he hadn’t cared until it was too late.

He had braced himself for a slap.

Instead, she hugs him and his ears ring not from screams but from thanks.

She thanked him for making sure Ben didn’t die alone. Thanked him because even in his last moments, at least one of his nephews could be by his side.

Aunt May: I think it’s time you took responsibility for your own guilt, sweetheart.

Harry: You forgive me?

Aunt May: There’s nothing to forgive.

Forgiveness doesn’t make the guilt go away. But for the first time, he managed to stay afloat without having to wear a mask or swinging on webs.

Harry still puts on the mask. After a while, he talks to Spy-D. Instead of mentorship, he offers something better: partnership.

Peter offers his help because of course he would. He’s their guy in the chair and wow, he does a spectacular job. 

(Peter offers him a kiss, hair wild from dangling on a fire escape in a humorous imitation of Harry's abilities, because of course he would.)

(He's Harry's boyfriend and wow, he does a spectacular job reminding Harry that despite all the fighting, there are things worth living for.)

At some point, Norman burns the bridge between them. Harry’s hurt in ways he’ll never fully heal from but he’s not broken.

He’s not alone.

He has Peter, Miles, Gwen, Anya, May and most importantly, he has Uncle Ben’s words.

“With great power comes great responsibility.”

DONT listen to redditors when they tell you a good jumping off point to get into spiderman comics is Superior!! they are lying to you!! not even as a dig at superior spiderman, as much as i love making fun of it it's a good comic run

but I can't imagine recommending the one where Peter gets freaky friday-ed into a dying doc ock's shriveled body and then proceeds to die in said shriveled body as Doc Ock fucks around in Spiderman's body. and you have to read dying wish which is honestly a pretty dense 5 issue run leading up to Superior Spider-Man on its own, filled with characters that you won't have encountered unless you've been reading asm up to that point (be honest how many of you have even heard of horizon labs.) But then the first like 5ish issues of ssm Doc Ock just tries to get with MJ and also it is HEAVILY SUGGESTED to that doc ock has feelings for May. In Peter's Body. And the whole time Peter is just stuck as a ghost watching doc ock SORT OF FLIRT WITH HIS AUNT IN HIS BODY ? and I'll stop here. but in no world would I suggest maybe one of the most absurd spiderman comics (sure it's no sins of the past but come on) to someone who has only seen the movies or the cartoons, and wants to get into the comics. I get that it's like a fan favorite but come on!!

anyway here's what id recommend people read if they want to Spiderman:

Obviously ASM is the main title and if youre really committed to being in the know on spiderman, it's definitely The place to go. But also it has 900+ issues and it can hard to find a good starting place.

I don't hate the 2022 run as much as some people do (totally reasonably btw there's some choices I'm not crazy for eithsr), and since it's the ongoing run there's not as much you'd have to read to be caught up. A lot of it is little 3-4 issue self contained stories! There's only fifty-threeee (?) issues out rn so plenty to read but not as daunting as the almost One Thousand Issues that lay before you and a near 60+ year run. I also hear the 2012 run is pretty good but I've only read a few issues here and there of that one so I cannot speak to it myself lol

Another series that's not too long but still has plenty there: Deadpool/Spider-Man! has two fan favorites and absolutely plenty of wacky comic antics. The first big plotline isn't the best but the character moments more than make up for it. Only 50 issues so not too bad! Plus, the run is over so you won't be trying to catch up (im hoping they revive it <-self delusion)

Avenging Spider-Man is another good jumping off point imo! It's a team-up series that will point you to ongoing plotlines without dragging you into them, so if one happens to strike your fancy you can go find those comics to read that storyline. It's fun, heartfelt, and self contained (for the most part). Can you tell I like team up stories yet.

Liz 'Screwball' Allan from Spider-Man (2017 Animated Series)

I know this is a difficult question to answer, but wich of the mysterios are the least attractive? (Not including MCU/Jake G’s Mysterio because we already know your thoughts on him.)

Right off the top of my head and personally speaking, uhhh...

The 90s cartoon. Why is he blond. Why does he have a ponytail. Why the heck is he WHITE? That man does not look white in the source material (not to me, at least)

Another, I would say, is Marvel Action Spiderman's Mysterio. Why the heck does that man look like tssm Norman Osborn with a ponytail? Deeply cursed and uncomfortable. Keep the dome on. I mean, at least he was genuinely funny despite his appearance. He came on so strong upon his first introduction in that comic djjddvskfnsg

One more, honorable mention, whatever the heck was going on with the 60s/70s cartoon iterations. Especially the one where he's inexplicably green with red hair and glasses?? Like.. WHAT.

..Also the white suburban dad from the 2017 Marvel's Spiderman cartoon. I know at least one person likes and simps for him, and respect to you! Mad respect to you! Love what you love and enjoy that man! But he's just not for me.

Anyways, there might be a few more, but that's all I really got.

Note: I never watched any of the cartoons mentioned, and I skimmed through the action comic. I could recommend the comic, tho, the art was interesting, and the premise of the villains being teachers for the school Peter goes to is also interesting!

Also, the art in it is very reminiscent of TSSM, so that's definitely a plus!
