Content warning: This story contains references to eating disorder recovery, which may be upsetting or triggering for some readers. The advice in this story is specific to the writer’s individual case of orthorexia recovery and current relationship to movement. Recommendations about restarting exercise in eating disorder recovery are highly individualized, and you should always talk with your doctor and treatment team about what's safe to do at your own stage of recovery.    The first time I exercised outside of mandatory phys-ed classes was a 6 a.m. spin class when I was fresh out of high school in 2012. My avid gym-going parents had convinced me to take their favorite instructor’s class. “You’ll love it, Eva is so great!” Eva was great, and I wanted to please her because she looked like she genuinely loved her class. So I cranked that resistance dial up each time she encouraged us to. It was grueling, especially for someone who never really did phys-ed. But in the end, I decided spin classes weren't for me. My parents never explicitly said it, but with the influx of comments from relatives about my weight gain in the months after high school, the timing of pushing me into that spin class wasn’t mere coincidence. Nobody had ever commented on my weight before. A year later, my relationship with my body began to fracture. What started as a weight-loss goal leading up to my university's ball continued long after the ball was over. Perfectionism had started to whisper (wrongly) that the control I had exerted over my body was an acceptable means to achieve its validation, and I fell into perfectionism's arms. It introduced itself to me with a new name, orthorexia, and it governed how I exercised. I moved my body for the sole purpose of achieving a certain aesthetic. I scheduled fun life activities around training and was wracked with anxiety and guilt when I missed sessions. It wasn’t until 2015 that I fully recovered from orthorexia. Along with a full recovery came a distinct thought: I no longer desired to control how my body looked. Losing that desire was freeing—I was living life as intended. But losing the main driver for why I had exercised also meant restarting movement wasn't easy. Over the last nine years, I've tried to work out consistently, but it's never stuck. I've gone through random spurts of exercising regularly for a week or two, but those bouts of motivation petered off quickly. I now realize that, during my battle with orthorexia, I thought of movement as punishment, so it's no wonder I was subconsciously resisting it. Lauren Muhlheim, PsyD, FAED, CEDS-C, a psychologist and certified eating disorder specialist at Eating Disorder Therapy LA, explains it's common for people in my situation to think this way. “Most of us don’t want to do things that we feel we have to do,” she says. But it's possible to overcome this type of mental block—I'm living proof. Nowadays, I schedule more catch-up walks with friends, shamelessly dance in the kitchen to my favorite '70s and '80s hits, and play badminton on Saturday nights. I no longer feeling guilty for not doing the "right" workouts, and I can confidently push back when someone tells me that I should. After what my body has been through in the last decade, if this is what movement looks like for me in my first year in my 30s, I feel proud. And when my movement practice shifts and inevitably changes, as life shifts and changes, I’m ready to welcome it, whatever it looks like. Alongside Dr. Muhlheim, I spoke with Alanah Reilly, AEP, accredited exercise physiologist, and Leah Hantman, CES, clinical exercise physiologist, both exercise physiologists who help people re-engage in movement post-eating disorder recovery. Here are some of their most helpful recommendations in hopes that you experience the same freeing paradigm shifts that I have. 1. Learn how to choose movement that supports the life you want to live post-recovery Reincorporating movement in your life after having been through an eating disorder is a unique experience.
It requires reprogramming your thinking to learn how to select movement that supports the life you want to live post-recovery instead of choosing movement for body image control and perfectionism. Reilly, who holds an advanced scope in trauma-informed movement and eating disorder recovery, says to remember this: “Every person's movement is highly individual, and we want movement that will help us be present and help us be the person we want to be.” Reilly suggests reflecting on what you value and the kind of person you want to be before brainstorming movements that could support these. 2. Choose movement that you truly enjoy Think about what you enjoy doing that falls into the realm of moving your body, Dr. Muhlheim advises. Not something you believe is “good” or “correct” or what you “should” do. Not something that pushes your heart rate past a certain number or provides resistance to your muscles. Something you actually like to do. Taking a walk with a friend, dancing in your kitchen—“if you find joy in doing it, it counts,” Dr. Muhlheim says. I thought back to how I'd viewed the exercise I'd done post-recovery and realized that I hadn't actually failed to incorporate movement into my daily life. I had been moving—dancing all night at parties, strolls with friends, walking my parents’ dog. Funny how I’d never counted any of these activities as “proper exercise.” “There are usually barriers to [motivation], and when we get to the root of them, it might be self-limiting beliefs coming from diet culture about what it means to truly engage in fitness.” —Leah Hantman, CES 3. Make peace with your past experiences with movement “If you feel safe to do so, reflect on how you've interacted with physical activity in the past, providing yourself with compassion and acknowledging that you were doing the best you could in your situation to keep yourself feeling safe and soothed,” Reilly says. She suggests approaching it from a curious lens of “I wonder what has happened to me?” instead of “What is wrong with me?” Then, reflect on how there may be a different way of engaging with activity now. Reilly recommends doing this with a psychologist or a trusted loved one. In the past, I was doing movement that could silence voices—both inner and external critics—quickly. That meant doing workouts that I thought would bring results I could physically measure and see, proving to my brain I was doing "enough" and to shut those voices up. This was the best way I knew how to soothe myself at the time. Today, I no longer have that inner critic, and I'm able to shut out those external voices. I have the agency to select movements I actually enjoy. 4. Compassionately notice all-or-nothing thinking surrounding movement You may harbor a self-limiting belief that you're only truly engaging in fitness if it looks like “XYZ.” I know I did: I believed that if I didn’t exercise at the level I used to at the height of my orthorexia, I was unfit. “High standards in all-or-nothing thinking as we move forward to reintegrating exercise can be a huge barrier for making progress,” Hantman says. “There are usually barriers to why someone is feeling unmotivated, and when we get to the root of them, it might be self-limiting beliefs coming from diet culture about what it means to truly engage in fitness.” Reilly advises reframing how you view movement, such as: “I've been through a lot, and my time, energy, and capacity has got me through some really difficult times. I am now re-establishing my relationship with movement in a more sustainable way. I am worthy and morally good, regardless of my fitness status.” If you have access to a psychologist, consider working with them to tackle all-or-nothing thought patterns (which happen outside of eating disorders, too!). 5. Remind yourself that movement is something you do throughout your entire life—not just right now With my twenties came the niggling pressure to start exercising now to prevent disease. When I turned 30, the looming health risks of skipping exercise started to terrify me.
However, it did nothing to get me back into the gym—I believed I had missed my chance. I was already 30. It was too late, wasn’t it? “It's never, never too late to start,” Reilly says. “Consider looking at movement as being across the lifetime, so there's no pressure to do it right now, or have it be ‘perfect.’ If we're able to meet ourselves where we're at and engage in activity that is process driven, that's helpful to us, even if it's imperfect for what our standards perceive. It's actually predictive of better long-term well-being outcomes because we are more likely to actually do the movement.” Knowing there's no ticking time bomb to movement is freeing. You have the power to choose when movement flows in and out of your life. What to do if re-engaging in movement triggers past disordered tendencies “If you find this experience of moving your body or exercising is triggering, I would recommend doing some journaling and self-reflection, tapping into what was triggering and why, and sharing that with your treatment team, therapist, or doctor,” Hantman says. If you don't have a treatment team, you can seek immediate support through a helpline: National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders Call 1-800-375-7767 Cost is free from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. CST National Alliance for Eating Disorders Call 1-866-662-1235 Cost is free from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST National Eating Disorders Association Helpline Call 1-800-931-2237 Cost is free from Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST, and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST For a 24-hour crisis line, text “NEDA” to 741741 If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, call the National Alliance for Eating Disorders Helpline at 1-866-662-1235 for immediate support or go to allianceforeatingdisorders.com or anad.org/get-help for more resources.

Thundershield/Valki Headcanon
Ok so I’ve seen a lot of people do like Hockey player/ice skater AUs (mostly for Th*rki but I’ve learned to just ignore it) but I wanted to add my own spin to it.
Thor is usually the jock who plays hockey while Loki is the gorgeous skater, but like…what if Loki was just…shit at ice skating. Like sure, he’s elegant and poised, but on the ice he just sucks major ass.
And then Thor goes into the rink and he’s graceful and fluid, which in turn shocks everybody cause you wouldn’t expect a big guy like him to move like fabric in the wind.
So Thor practices ice skating and one day, a hockey team comes into the rink to practice for a big game. He notices one of the players-blonde and beautiful- and thinks he’s lowkey cute.
Steve is a hockey player who draws and paints on the sidelines. He also notices Thor and when he skates right pass him, Steve nearly swoons and ofc Sam and Bucky lowkey tease him for it. Eventually Steve makes a move and a few weeks later, him and Thor are dating.
Now for Loki, he doesn’t bother going into the rink cause he knows he’ll suck, however, he does find a dance studio since apparently, he had pretty good rhythm.
He begins practicing, rising to the top of his class. Making friends is difficult due to having trust issues, but Loki does make acquaintances with a guy named Scott who everyone loves because he’s a sweetheart. And when Loki becomes an instructor and sees a college student named Peter struggling, he takes him under his wing and helps him out, and even eventually helping out his friends Ned and Harry and even his gf MJ.
As Loki gains more confidence, he sees a woman in the ballet department. She practices in the same class as Natasha. Brunnhilde is very skilled in ballet, poised and light on her feet, but she moves to Loki’s class to try something different.
When the two get paired, they first play off each other, trying to see who will win this battle of wits, but eventually their crushes for each other becomes apparent in their choreography, which Thor notices and teases his brother for it.
But then one day, on performance day, Loki and Brunnhilde are doing their choreography and when it’s over, Brunn makes the first move and kisses Loki, the two not giving a damn about the whoops and whistles from the crowd and Thor lowkey recording while Steve shakes his head snickers.
And that’s my headcanon, no I will not take criticism

Summary: When Tony organizes a team-building exercise at a Salsa studio, Steve doesn’t know what to expect. Shenanigans ensue.
Latin!Reader X Steve Rogers
Tumblr media
It had been an established tradition that once a month, everyone who was free that called themselves an Avenger had to participate in what Tony had dubbed “team-building activities.” Steve thought these were fun, like the time they played laser tag or when they went to that pottery place and the team made mugs. These team activities were always the time where they could relax and do something fun, ignore the weight on their shoulders. A time to spend time together without bad guys around every corner. So when Tony walked into the boardroom, he wasn’t too worried.
The meeting starts off like any other, updates on other regions, a call to the Guardians, the usual. Near the end of the meeting, Tony stands confidently in front of the projector after a pause. “Set the mood FRIDAY,” he says, his face conniving and too cheerful. Very loudly, FRIDAY plays a Spanish song, one he’s definitely heard but doesn’t know the words to.
Suavemente, bĂŠsame!
Te quiero sentir tus labios,
Besåndome otra vez.
Steve’s eyes widen a bit, his mind running through the different activities. Glancing around him, Steve looks at the team’s various reactions. Bucky seems a bit taken aback but not surprised, Nat looks like she knows where this is headed, and Sam is already dancing in his chair. Vaguely shimmying to the beat of the song, a mischievous smile pulls on Tony’s lips as he raises his voice over the music. “We’re going to a Salsa class. Spiderboy, Wanda, Pepper, and Vision are going too. You can thank Sam for the idea. Be ready by 1:30, I booked an hour and a half” Before anyone can say anything, Tony shimmies his way out of the room, the music fading with him. Sam looks around the table excitedly, hopeful his friends like his idea. His eyes practically glow with happiness. “Make sure to wear workout clothes, y’all. Y/Ns gonna make you work,” Sam says, his voice almost mischievous. Steve lets out a defeated sigh, accepting his fate of stepping on many toes and struggling to keep up. Thinking back, Steve was never the dancer, and even less now with the change of music over the decades he’d been in the ice. But he’d be damned if he didn’t try, especially if Sam was gonna be watching, poking fun at him the whole way through. Bucky gives a nod, a small smile on his lips. “So this is where you spend your days off,” Bucky says like he should’ve seen this coming. Sam gives him a smirk as he gets up and grabs his jacket. “How do you think I got these thighs,” Sam replies, gesturing towards said thighs, barely contained by his jeans. Steve lets out a chuckle, chancing a look at Natasha. Grabbing her laptop, her smile is warm but challenging. “I’m gonna dance you into the floor Wilson,” she says, confident in her dance experience. Sam lets out a laugh, his tone just as confident and challenging, “Are you stupid or stupid? I’d like to see you try.” With that, they leave the boardroom together, the faint sound of Spanish music filling the Tower until they all pile into a car and drive to the dance studio.
---------------------------------------
Getting out of the car, Steve can still hear Bucky and Sam bickering, though the parking lot seems deserted save for a few cars. Steve doesn’t know what to expect. Especially since he’s never been a dancer, and knows less about Latin culture, something he only got educated on when he was in the 21st century. As someone who was always in control, this was very new. But nonetheless, he walked into the studio behind Sam, Bucky, and Tony with Pepper on his arm, with Peter, Nat, Wanda, and Vision trailing behind. The first thing that catches his eyes is the glass case full to the brim with different trophies and medals. The studio’s walls were floor to ceiling mirrors and a front desk area near the entrance, with a door that led to what Steve assumed was a locker room. “Y/N, your favorite Avenger is here!” Sam called into the empty studio. The locker room door opens, and Steve couldn’t stop his blush from spreading if he tried. The woman, who he guesses is Y/N, walks out confidently, her arms outstretched to hug Sam. She is stunning, to say the least, her brown skin glowing under the studio’s lights. Her hair is in a slicked-back puff, donned in a simple muscle tank and leggings. And she’s wearing red lipstick. “It’s always the lipstick,” Steve can hear Bucky teasing in his head. “Just because you’re my student doesn’t mean you’re my favorite Sam,” she replies, her voice teasing but fond. Steve feels Bucky nudge him with his arm, breaking him out of his obvious ogling. Releasing from the hug, Y/N turns to the rest of the group. “I’m Y/N, incase Sam didn’t give it away, and I’ll be your instructor today.” Steve feels his heart skip a couple of beats at the prospect of getting to stare at you for the next hour, though his pathetic dance skills will probably kill any chance he has with you. Steeping on someone’s toes wasn’t the best way to make a first impression. In a fight, Steve was light on his feet and agile, but fighting was very different from dancing. Plus his experience with women isn’t exactly the best and he would probably break one of your toes before getting your number- He suddenly felt all eyes on him and a long silence. Blinking, Steve notices you looking at him, your hand outstretched. If Steve wasn’t blushing before, he definitely was now as he stuttered. “I- I’m sorry what did you say?”
Looking at him consideringly, you awkwardly retract your hand. “I was asking if you wanted to be my partner for this class.” Steve can hear Natasha and Bucky holding back their laughter behind him, and Sam just looks as smug as ever. “Oh, I don’t think I’d be a very good partner. I’m probably the worst dancer here.” Steve replies, laughing nervously and rubbing his neck with his hand. Your face lights up in understanding before walking closer to him. You grab his hand and usher him closer to the front of the studio near a laptop and speaker set up. “Which is exactly why you should be paired with me, Captain Rogers. You’ll learn better if you’re with me. Plus, I’m used to students stepping on my toes.” Your voice is resolute as you hold him by the hand, grouping up the other team members as you fiddle with the music. Steve can’t help but feel like this is set up as he looks between your hand grasping his and his teammates, all looking various stages of smug or suggestive except Peter, who just looks happy to be there, and Vision, who is just staring at Wanda. Grouped in partners, Natasha is with Peter, who actually has experience with salsa he found out, Sam is with Bucky, both noticeably not looking at each other, Tony with Pepper and Vision with Wanda.
Looking at the other groups, you start to explain the starting position and the basics of salsa without the music. “Normally, the taller of the pair will lead with their right and the shorter will lead with their left.” You seem to think for a moment before you continue your explanation. “While salsa is meant to be danced in pairs, the lead is the one who guides the dance.” Gently grabbing Steve, you place your left hand on his shoulder and hold his hand with your right. Before Steve can form a thought, you start to slightly move him by the shoulder, using your weight to push him. “When you lead it is very important to use your body weight. Even a dancer with no experience can dance well if they have a good lead.” Most of the group is either trying to hold back their imminent laughter or they’re too busy trying to ask questions so you continue to use Steve as a test subject. You either don’t notice or ignore them as you run over to the speaker, start the music, and go back to Steve. “Can I do a quick demonstration?” you ask him, and it was really unfair because there was no way Steve could say no.  Steve nods slightly, and before he can blink you shoot off like a rocket. You push him into a spin to the right, a turn to the left, another spin, and Steve can only see vague flashes of movement as you move around him fluidly. You almost leave him dizzy, until you finish, letting him fall gently into a dip. Steve opens his eyes, not realizing he closed them, and is greeted by your face inches away from his. His face erupts in a blush as you stare at each other, your breath only slightly labored. He can vaguely hear applause and Sam complaining about not getting to dance with you before you let him stand upright. You let out a small laugh before looking back at Steve. “I hope that wasn’t too bad Captian,” you say, your hands fidgeting with your muscle tank. Steve can only open and close his mouth repeatedly before just replying, “Wow.” The team and you laugh a bit and his blush continues to spread down his neck. “Well, we won’t be doing too many spins today, but I hope that was fun for you.” Steve laughs lightly, his hand coming behind his neck. “Well I- it was a lot of fun. Felt like a rollercoaster.” Your smile widens as your laugh rings through the studio, and Steve tries not to think how nice it sounds before you turn to the rest of the team.
You seem to get back into a professional element, letting go of Steve’s hand to help out the other pairs, especially Buck and Sam as they bicker over who should lead. Coming back to the front of the studio you grab Steve’s hands and get into the starting position. Reaching behind you, the music streams from the speakers. Leaning into Steve, you talk to him over the music. “I’ll lead for now Captain Rogers,” you say, your voice almost teasing. Steve can only nod jarringly, before replying shortly, “Steve is fine.” You nod in acknowledgment before addressing the rest of the pairs. “We’re going to start by doing the basic salsa step, just forward and back,” you say as you demonstrate. Steve stands trying to follow your instruction, his hand clammy against yours. Everyone nods before you start counting the beats and doing the basic step.
The rest of the class goes on without incident, and Steve is proud to say he only stepped on your toes twice. The team seemed happy as well, the couples very comfortable with dancing and lots of laughter coming from Pepper on Tony’s behalf. The rivalry between Nat and Sam got squashed very quickly because Sam was too busy bickering with Bucky, and Nat was trying to make sure her and Peter’s hands wouldn’t stick together. Wanda and Vision seemed the most peaceful, though it seemed they were staring at each other more than actually paying attention. Bucky and Nat kept sneaking teasing glances at him, especially if you used him as another demonstration, your hands landing on his waist or vice versa. By the end of the class, the team was tired but pleased. Everyone was joking around and laughing, so much so that Steve could almost ignore the blush that had coated his cheeks for the past hour and a half. Saying their goodbyes, Steve went to give you a handshake, but you held his hand for a moment. Your eyes lock for a moment before you look back at your intertwined hands and take a deep breath. “I don’t want to be too forward, since we just met and all, but I was wondering if you’d want to go out sometime? Not dancing but maybe dinner-?”
“Yes,” Steve interrupts. You both let out surprised laughs, Steve’s free hand going to rub his neck, a nervous tick you’ve noticed. Both of you are thoroughly flustered and whipped for each other already, Steve found it hard to imagine how he could’ve said no. You let go of his hand, happily running towards the front desk to grab a pen and piece of paper to jot down your number. As you write down your number, you hear a thump against the window of the door of the studio. There stand, very squished together, Sam, Bucky, and Natasha, looking very pleased. Out of your peripheral, you can see Steve trying to shoo them away. “I’m sorry about them,” he says, his voice only half upset. You smile at him and gesture back at the trio. “I’ll have to get used to that if I want to keep you, right?” Steve laughs, his smile lighting up the studio. “Yeah, but I’ll get them to leave us alone somehow.” You nod in affirmation, the trio finally trickling away from the door as they notice their position has been compromised. Handing the paper to Steve, you lead him out of the door, the afternoon light making your skin glow.
“I’ll talk to you soon Captain,” you say, leaning in to give Steve a kiss on the cheek before closing the studio door. Steve might’ve convinced himself the kiss happened, except for the red lipstick stain on his cheek and the hollering of his friends a few feet away from him. As Steve walked away, his friends trailing behind, he knew he had a great feeling about you, and he couldn’t wait to find out more.

HEY tell me more abt ur spider x man AU i would like to hear abt it
OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGG
YOUVE ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD
X SPIDER AU
WOOG
Here’s the set up
My man can walk on walls & has super-mega anxiety
He should be able to shoot webs from his wrists. As a treat even if he can’t canonically
And so MAYBE
-I still think webshooters are cool as hell and really useful In the way he can give it to other people and they can use it to free themselves if he’s saving various people at once-
So let’s just say The web he can get out of his wrists is kind of dog shit at first
It’s just like. Normal thin spiderweb and it sucks ass these are bitchboy webs
SO
He makes his normal web shooters and has those n everything is cool
But obviously since I’m putting this within the X-Men universe mutants are common
Peter is a dumbass but he’s in no way an idiot he knows if he gets figured out he’s gonna have way more issues than Flash Thompson after gym class-
I’m suck at explaining shit but to get to the X-Men part :bangbang:
Peter opens up to Aunt May about being a mutant. Or well “becoming” a mutant.
She’s stricken with grief but still loves him and will most definitely still love & protect him with her life
After a week of being physically ill with anxiety (the normal human kind) he comes home from school. And with his Aunt May in the kitchen. Is a bald old dude in a wheel chair, and a less bald but slightly older & way more intimidating dude.
The bald dude offers him tea and the moment the teacup lifts off the table only half an inch the Spidey sense goes off & he BOLTS he doesn’t understand what’s going on, he’s confused, and feels slightly betrayed
He spends the night at Harry’s. Harry doesn’t ask why Peter is so upset, he knows when something is to sensitive to talk about
The next morning Harry lends him clothes & they go to school together
Peter durring homeroom is called to the office
MJ & Harry are GLUED to his side
When they walk into the principals office & see his aunt and the same men from last night he is visually panicked.
The men suggest his friends leave but he’s half convinced he’s about to be sent away so he says they can stay.
They both hold his hands tight
Nothing could prepare him for the next few minuets
The bald man says “very well, if you’re sure” and with a “i am” from Peter he introduces himself
“I am Charles Xavier and this is my friend Erik Lehnsherr.” All three teens are very alarmed bcuz E. Erik L. . Isn’t t. I. IS THAT FUCKING MAGNEATO ? STANDING IN OUR PRINCIPALS OFFICE PETER WTF DID YOU DO?
👀
Xavier explains that a few days ago his Aunt May, knowing about the Xavier Institute reached out for help. And he is very sorry to have frightened you the other night but this is us formally inviting you in enrollment to Xaviers Institute For Gifted Youngsters, a school for mutants
MJ: it’s a mutant school
Xavier: That Is correct.
Harry: ..Peter?
MJ: Peter?
Peter: .........Funny Story actually ! aha um well you see BOLTS AGAIN
buT
Erik tells Xavier theres no way this kid is gonna talk to us like this, we need him to come to us
Xavier is like. Very well
And politely asks Harry & MJ to talk to him for them, and that it’s very important they tell no one.
But this really is Peter’s best interest
They give their pitch to the two to repeat to Peter
They MJ end up finding him following GPS chip in his phone she totally didn’t put there bc she cares for her best friends safety but also already thought he was Spider-Man anyway
Peter confesses to being a mutant, and Spider-Man
It takes Harry a moment to digest but MJ FUCKIN KNEW IT SHE KNEW. SHES BEEN KNEW FOR MOTHS YOURE NOT SLICK PARKER
They t (btw Yea this is Harry/Peter/MJ what about it)
They both comfort him & tell him about the Xavier institute
Yeah. Hell have to move there but he can still attend Midtown if he wants
But if not there’s always Bayville!
Harry says if Peter wants to go to Bayville Harry will immediately Transfer himself & MJ there bc theres no way there leaving him alone
(Peter is also trans)
It takes a bit but Pete eventually says ok, he knows it’s in his best interest, it’s the best idea, and the most beneficial to him.
He moves to the institute !
He ends up going to Bayville bc. Omg. Freedom from Flash Thompson
Harry & MJ. Transfer
Peter is immediately introduced to Beast AKA Dr Hank McCoy and they’re best friends so quick.
Hank uses Peter web shooter design to make an organic one that takes his shit ass webs & quickly winds and spins them up so when they leave the shooter it’s a thick rope akin to his fake webbing
It takes him a rlly long time to be able to produce webs fast enough to use it but he eventually does!
Peter not knowing literally any of their powers bc he refused to look into mutant stuff bc he didn’t wanna be on an FBI watchlist seeing Rouge KO a student durring training: DID MRS ROUGE JUST FUCKING MURDER THEM? GUYS. GUYS. STOP THE SIMULATION?
Peter: wow Dr McCoy you must’ve been really cool in highschool
Hank: Aha I wish *shows him photos of him in highschool
Peter: hey Mr McCoy these are cool but where are you
Hank: ? I’m right there?
Peter: .
Hank: I wasn’t always blue Mr Parker
Peter:
Since Harry & MJ are In The Know (decided actually no one knows Xavier’s is a mutant place yet)
They’re allowed to come over to da mansion & just get to witness all the weird shit that goes on there
MJ has fun being Ref durring Mute Ball !
Harry just cheerleads n supports them
So Peter goes to Bayville (Harry & Mj transfer bc Yea)
The younger mutants like Pixie, Laura, Armor, Cypher, Roberto, Wolfsbane, Dani, Magik, etc also attend, in this timeline mutants are still relatively hidden but r on da brink. The Second Genesis team is around as instructors

an outstanding performance — marvel (stark!reader)
Setting: an AU where Peter never quit band and Michelle, Flash, and others are also in band, platonic fic!!! Gender: Neutral! Contains: fluff Word Count: 3.7k (I GOT CARRIED AWAY HOLY SHIT)
Summary: Being Tony’s kid meant everyone expected you to be some prodigy in some way. And you were—a musical prodigy at least. The last year of marching band was approaching and you’re definitely gonna be heartbroken. But as long as you had Peter, Ned, and MJ by your side it’ll all be okay
a/n: I wanted to pump something out since I haven’t posted and I’ve always wanted to write something with Peter in band because I WAS A BAND KID IN HIGH SCHOOL. So. It’s also not my best work but I had fun because i reALLY MISS BAND. AND THIS IS JUST A COMFORT FIC FOR ME TBH LMAO [repost from my old account @knightofmarvel]
There’s a lot of band terms that I don’t think people will understand unless you were a band kid so here’s a little… mini explanation. This is what I used for my band by the way.
Sound off = just be louder I guess? Met = metronome The box = the area in the stadium where the announcer is always in Trumpet, mellophone, baritone/euphonium, tuba = brass instruments Flute, clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, bari sax, bass clarinet = woodwind instruments Percussion = anything you can hit with a stick basically (including piano because piano keys control something that hits the string) Guard/color guard = the people who spin flags, sabers, and rifles. They also toss it in the air and do other crazy shit (deadass, guard people were so badass i dont get why people called them discount cheerleaders when guard works just has hard, if not harder. like u try tossing a fucking rifle up in the air. this girl legitimately went an entire show after splitting her brow causing her to bleed horribly and finished smiling soooo) Drum majors = people who conduct and is also basically in charge of the entire band Reps = doing something over and over, usually a certain exercise in music or marching technique or a certain part(s) of the show Set = Can mean multiple things, either a certain part of the show or getting ready for the rep they’re about to do (usually shown by holding the instrument up in “set” position) Stand-by = relaxed but still in attention Holding at pistol/rifle = more relaxed but usually saved in show or when instructors/whoever tells stories. Different instruments have different positions thus the pistol/rifle Horns up = instrument in mouth Horns down = instrument not in mouth, same position as Set.
Let me know if there are any mistakes!  **no beta, we die like men
Enjoy!

“Senior year boyyysssssssss!” You screamed once you entered campus that warm summer morning. Ned and Peter turned around to see you running towards them, about to tackle them. Other band leaders, and especially the senior drum majors, cheered with you.
Ned and Peter, however, did not.
Instead, their eyes widened in fear and they raised their arms up, telling you to not jump at them. But alas, it was too late and you tackled them to the ground.
“Dog pile!” Someone, Adam (one of the drum majors) probably, shouted. And one by one, a group of your fellow bandmates fell on top of you. Each one of them caused you to let out a breath. Peter and Ned taking the brute of it.
“Alright alright, you idiots,” your band directed teased. You all looked up to see Mrs. Ha standing there with her hands on her hips. “Get up, you guys are scaring the freshmen.” She glanced over to the bandroom door where tiny heads were sticking out.
“Oh shit,” you muttered, everyone starting to stand up off of each other. You raised both of your hands down for Peter and Ned, they both took it and you helped them up.
“Damn, (Y/n), why’d you have to do that?” Ned asked. He then reached down for his hat. Something that was mandatory for all band members to wear during practice. Especially during band camp in the summer.
“It’s tradition!” You cheered, wrapping your arm around each of their neck. “Can you guys believe it? We’re seniors.”
“Yeah, and you’re woodwind captain man,”  Peter nudged you in the side.
You grinned and then walked in front of them to grab your backpack, clarinet case, and water jug. You turned around once they were all in hand. “Yeah, but at least I got my two trusty section leaders to lead with me.”
“What about me?”
The three of you turned around to see MJ with her hand on her hip. She had a slight smirk on her face.
“Uh,” you started to say, “to be fair, you’re in the brass section.”
“You could have switched,” MJ retorted, walking up to you and lightly punching you in the shoulder.
And you could have. Afterall, you were a musical prodigy. Especially considering the fact that you were the kid of Tony Stark. You didn’t have much of a knack for STEM, decent at it but only when you put in the extra work to the point of stress. But you had a knack for music.
Your dad noticed your gravitation towards music when you were a toddler and when you didn’t enjoy being in the lab as much as he thought you would have been, as a Stark. But you enjoyed music so he signed you up for piano classes. Then you wanted to learn more instruments and made your way through the wind instruments and then more percussion instruments. From flute to clarinet to alto saxophone, from trumpet to french horn, to, of course, piano and the drumset. You had a lot of range. The clarinet being your favorite instrument to play.
You narrowed your eyes at MJ, “But then you wouldn’t have been brass captain. And do you think I can leave the woodwinds to be left in charge by these losers?” You pointed to Peter and Ned.
“Hey!” They both protested.
“Guys! Roll call is soon and they’re introducing all the leaders to the entire band,” Adam said, holding the metronome in his hand.
“Yeah, got it,” You and Michelle said, both with a slight authoritative tone in your guys’ voice. You both exchanged glances with a raised brow.
“Wow, the captain in you guys is really coming out,” Peter teased. You both rolled your eyes. You went to go walk beside Michelle. On the way into the bandroom.
“Oh man, I just hope I don’t accidentally make a freshman pee their pants this year.” You walked straight into the bandroom and Peter laughed, remembering that clearly last year when you were section leader.
“I just don’t want to do running block,” Ned complained, trudging behind you. “I hate band camp.”
“Ditto,” MJ remarked. Peter shot her a look.
“Shouldn’t you be hyping it up, for the freshmen?”
MJ shrugged, “Yeah, but I can complain to you guys.”
“Fair enough.”
***
“Sound off guys!” You shouted as the band did reps across the field in across-the-floors. In a moment, the voices of the members got louder, counting in time with the met. You looked around yourself, making sure there were no members dicking around too much. With it being so far into the marching season already, you didn’t want any of them to dick around so much where they’d regret it if your guys’ band didn’t perform to the best of your ability at your last competitions.
Your eyes met Peter’s as he prepped to step off on the other side. He stuck his tongue out then faced forward with his clarinet in hand. His mouth moving with his voice being just loud enough to be heard as he began to count off. He was the backline with three other freshmen near him who didn’t count at all. All three of them clarinets as well.
You called out their names, telling them to sound off until one of the visual instructors cut the metronome. Peter continued, trying to keep time without it loud enough for the freshmen to stay with him.
“Alright, stop!” The instructor, Alicia, shouted. Peter stopped, relaxing his arms and putting his clarinet in his hand with standby. The entire band stared at him in silence, waiting for what he had to say. “We have three more competitions to go. One more football game. And then we have Grand Nationals. We’ve been doing this since June. It’s October! I’m doing all I can to push you guys, it doesn’t matter if you’re a freshman anymore. You’ve been in this program so you know what we expect. In the end, it’s up to all of you guys how bad you want it. Do you guys want to make finals?”
A chorus of yeah’s came from the students. Something caught your eye as the instructor continued to talk. Flash was dicking around, mocking the instructor and when the instructor was quiet you called him out.
“Hey Flash, why don’t you run a lap?” You asked. Lucky you, he was an alto saxophone, so completely in your control.
“Wh-What? Why? I didn’t do anything,” Flash argued. You raised a brow.
“Oh really? So you weren’t even listening to Alicia as she was talking?” You retorted. “You said you weren’t doing anything right? I guess that’s still a lap.” Someone next to him nudged him, telling him not to argue and he groaned.
He walked off to the side, setting his instrument down.
“Next time, don’t mock her when she’s trying to help us. Especially since you’re the only senior who doesn’t sound off.” Flash glared at you while you kept a smirk on your face.
He murmured, “Fucking Stark.” Then went off into the run. That’ll earn him a talk after practice.
“Thanks, (Y/n),” Alicia said, shooting you a smile. You gave her a nod
Percussion and color guard began walking into the stadium and prepped to practice with the rest of the band.
“Alright, I’ll cut this rep short, go grab a gush and wait for instructions,” Alicia ordered. The teenagers began to run off the field and towards their water jugs were with their own section.
“I don’t get why Flash is even more annoying,” Peter muttered. You and Peter watched Flash continue to run around the track as you drank water from your jug.
“It’s probably because he didn’t get any leadership position,” Cindy suggested. She stood next to you two, also a clarinet section leader.
“Yeah, well, Ned deserved the alto sax position,” you said. “Not Flash, he’s an asshole.” The other two nodded their heads.
A high pitched whining noise came from the box and everyone flinched and groaned, staring up at it.
“Oh, sorry guys,” the band director, Mrs. Ha, said. “Hornline captains, lead the warm up for your section. Mr. C and I won’t have enough time this practice.”
You turned to face your section, calling out to them and raising your instrument in the air. You led them to wear the respective drum major that conducted for the woodwinds for warm up stood on her podium. Everyone was wetting their reeds in their mouth, save for the flute players who stood in arc warming up their instrument. The reed players began placing their reeds on their mouth pieces, then also warming it up a bit. You walked around, talking to a few of the leaders here and there. Then walking up to one of the seniors in the clarinet section and making them center while also handing them a tuner for later.
With a wave of your hand and your fist closing, everyone stopped playing.
“Stand-by,” you called out. Each member stopped fidgeting and their ears looked to you attentively. “Set!”
In a ripple effect from the edge of the arc to the center, everyone brought their horns up. You smirked. “Nice job guys, we’ve come a long way since freshman band camp. Same warm up, make sure to watch the hands.” You pointed up to the drum major, Kay, who stood on top of the podium.
“Stand-by,” she called out once more. “Doing the woodwind warm up and make sure to watch my hands. Set!”
The rest of practice went by smoothly. The drum majors standing on the podium, instructors up in the box telling instructions through a mic for the head drum major to repeat. The entire band doing what was told. Parents sat in the stands watching their kids practice.
You could have sworn you saw your dad and a few others in the stands that practice. But you paid it no mind, he’d usually come to competitions but he had never gone to a practice.
So when practice was over and the band was dismissed, you, Peter, Ned, and MJ began to set back to the bandroom after all the underclassmen cleared out from the stadium. And after you gave Flash another stern talking about attitude and disrespecting instructors and leaders. Which led to him running a lap and then doing push-ups.
You and MJ were pushing the huge water jugs back as well, all of your stuff riding on the bottom of the cart with MJ’s. All four of you were joking around when you heard a familiar voice.
“Hey kid!”
You jolted, turning around to see your dad standing there with Morgan on his shoulders. Rhodey, Pepper, Steve, and Natasha stood next to him, all of them with a smile on their face.
“Dad!” You called out, letting go of the cart and running up to him. Tony quickly set Morgan down and you hugged him. He let out an ‘oof’ on impact but hugged you back. “You’ve never came to practice before!”
“Well, I thought I should,” Tony said, kissing the top of your head. “You stink.” You tore away from him, laughing when you noticed his scrunched up face.
“Yeah, my hat’s kinda gross from practice.”
You turned to face Morgan and picked her up, setting her on your hip. You looked at the others, “Why are you guys here.”
“Got bored,” Rhodey answered. “Then thought, we might as well see what the musical Stark was up to.” You laughed, shaking your head.
“You’re so cool, (Y/n)!” Morgan hugged you around your neck. “But scary. Just like mommy!” Your dad and you chortled with laughter and Pepper shook her head, grabbing her out of your arms.
“Yeah, you yelled at that kid for a good ten minutes,” Nat said. “Good job.”
“I’m surprised,” Steve spoke up. “I didn’t realize marching band was modeled after the military bands until Rhodey told me.”
“Yeah, you never came to one of my shows,” you playfully glared at him. But you began laughing and hit him lightly. “I’m kidding, you guys are always busy. But-” you looked at them, hopeful “-my last football game is this Friday. Then three more local competitions until Grand Nats in Indiana.”
The adults exchanged glances with each other.
“Well, you know Pep and I will be at Grand Nats,” Tony said, ruffling your hair.
“And me!” Morgan added.
“And Morgan,” Tony laughed.
“We’ll… Try.” Steve scratched the back of his head. “Sorry, (Y/n).”
“It’s cool,” you replied nonchalantly. “You guys are Avengers, other priorities.”
“Not to interrupt, but your friend looks like she’s struggling with the jugs.” Rhodey pointed behind you, and you saw MJ trying to push the jugs over a whole in the ground. Peter and Ned stood there, laughing at her. Your eyes widened and you bolted over to her after passing Morgan to your dad.
“Oh shit, sorry!”
***
The band sat in the stands, playing pep tunes whenever they were supposed to while the football game went on. You, of course, were dicking around with Peter and Ned. Ned sat behind you with his section and you sat beside Peter on the edge. MJ was far off in brassland, reading a book since she hated her section. She really hated trumpets.
Then the drum majors motioned to the saxes that they could do their thing and Ned stood up, ushering his section to stand up as well. You smiled, as this was one of your favorite traditions during football games.
Ned played the first note, and everyone following after. The tune of Beautiful Girl’/’Stand By Me’ leaving the horns. There were a few pitch problems, but it’s not like it was a competition. Football games were always one to just relax, have fun, and do dumb shit.
Mrs. Ha even watched with a smile on her face.
“How do you think MJ’s faring?” You asked Peter. He looked back.
“Still reading her book,” he replied. “Dude, this is the last time we’re ever gonna hear Stand By me.”
You shoved Peter, “Bruh, don’t talk about it! I’m gonna cry.” He rolled his eyes at you.
“Okay, okay, fine,” he said. “This is the last time we wear our uniform for a football game.”
“Peter!”
Peter laughed, raising his arms up in the air to block you from trying to smack him.
“Man, I’ll just do Drum Corps or whatever after this,” you muttered after giving up on hitting Peter.
“You could, that’d be badass,” Peter said. “Maybe do like percussion like tenor drums or something.”
You nodded your head, “I totally should. I’m gonna miss band a lot.”
“Me too,” Peter sighed. “But at least we can focus more on our other extracurriculars.”
You raised a brow at him. “You mean your internship?” Peter nodded his head. “You should’ve just quit band man.”
He shrugged, “Yeah, but band is fun and you’re still in it with your internship. Though, I think MJ would have found out a lot sooner if I did though.”  You laughed, remembering how MJ was only slightly thrown off on Peter possibly being Spider-Man because of how he was able to be in band and a superhero. Though the same applied to you
“Okay, sure, but I don’t do missions on season, and I fight crime a little less,” you retorted. He laughed again at you, eyes filled with amazement. You were cheering at the football team, not that you knew what was going on. Just, everyone else was cheering plus it was fun.
Peter was always amazed at how smoothly you fit into the leader role, something that would put you at an advantage if you ever led the Avengers in the near future. It definitely helped when you led groups in missions or when none of the older adults were around in times of crises. Then whenever a freshman was upset or a band member got injured on the field, you always somehow ended up right next to them. Even tripping while running across the field but falling into a roll then jumping back up, then carrying said injured member off the field to make sure they were okay.
He laughed to himself, remembering each moment he shared with you and all the other band members. He’s going to miss it a lot, but he knew you’d miss it even more.
***
The sounds of cheering, the rush of adrenaline, the musical notes and perfect harmonies accompanying the melody reverberated throughout the stadium. Then when the last note came out of your horn and everyone snapped their horns down, panting and sweat glimmering on everyone’s forehead, you smiled. You started almost laughing with tears coming down your face.
You enjoyed jumping off buildings to feel the adrenaline and going through the city but that could never compare to performing. Especially considering all the hard work you, and the entire band, put in for this particular moment. Your smile widened even more when you saw both of the senior drum majors on the podium in front of you also smiling, panting, but tears in their eyes.
Then the bass drum hit and in time with the beat, the members marched off the field or went to their respective prop to push it off the field. You were part of the latter, meeting up with Peter at the same prop.
He flashed you a smile, “Don’t cry yet (Y/n), we gotta wait before the senior traditions.” Then you only started crying more when you realized you wouldn’t be on the receiving end anymore. You would be the senior participating in said traditions. You wiped the tears off with your gloves.
“Shut up, Peter,” you laughed. “I can’t help it, we made it into finals. That was our final performance.”
“Was it your best performance?” Peter asked. You just started bawling more, nodding your head. At this point you weren’t even pushing the prop, but you knew Peter didn’t even need help, being Spider-Man and all. “Then that’s all that matters.”
When the entire band made it out in the -5 degree cold air, putting their instruments away and giving the props to the band dads to put away, you finally stopped crying. Mostly because tears in this weather was always an ass with how cold it is, especially considering the uniform doesn’t give you any warmth. Before your band director could round everyone up to talk about how it was the best performance your band had ever performed this year, that it didn’t matter what place you got, you felt a small body wrap around your legs.
“(Y/n)!!”
“Mo! What are you doing?” You asked, picking her up into your arms. She was bundled in warm clothing and you saw your dad and Pepper. Then even in the distance, you saw the Avengers which made you beam.
“That was great,” your dad said, kissing the top of your head.
“Wait! No PDA in uniform.” you took a small step back. He rolled his eyes. “Kidding, I don’t care anymore. Thanks dad.” He ruffled your hair the moment you gave your shako (hat) for Morgan to hold.
“Yeah, honey, even your solo was amazing,” Pepper said, fixing your hair then kissing the top of your head.
“It was…” Morgan paused, her face scrunching as she went deep in thought. “An outstanding performance!” Morgan cheered, hugging you tightly. You, Tony, and Pepper exchanged glances.
With a raised brow, you asked, “Where’d she learn those words?”
“No clue.” Tony shrugged. Then he grabbed his dad-bag and pulled out a few cards and even small gifts. “By the way, this is from everyone. They’ll come stop by to say hi but after they have a mission to get to.”
A small smile made its way on your face and you even started crying again. Tony wrapped an arm around your shoulder, rubbing your arm up and down. Morgan held onto you even tighter and Pepper placed a comforting hand on your hand.
“Thank you for coming, I’m gonna miss this so much,” you sniffled. Looking around you at your bandmates and all the joyful tears being shed, the hugs, the laughter. None of them were even staring at your dad in this moment because of the last performance. Which says a lot. Well, save for a few but it didn’t matter.
“I know,” your dad said softly. “But you got to experience it and I am so proud of you, (Y/n). Section leader and then woodwind captain? Amazing. I can barely play piano for the life of me.”
You chuckled, “I can’t code for the life of me.”
“But one thing’s for certain,” Pepper said. “Starks are always a natural for their passions.”
Your band director called for everyone to gather around to give them one last after-performance talk for the end of the season. You stood next to MJ, Peter, and Ned. Some of you with tears in your eyes, but all of you with a sense of satisfaction coursing through you. Four years of band was difficult, but you all made due with each other.
You glanced back, towards your family and the other Avengers and you were so happy to know that there on the field, you knew they were all watching. They all supported you through your musical career and would never stop.
Then the drum majors dismissed all of you and you turned to try to talk to your family once more, even making eye contact with Steve until all the freshmen and other underclassmen bombarded you with hugs and being all teary eyed.
“Hey, don’t worry about it guys,” you mentioned, looking at Peter, Ned, and MJ, trying to get them to help you out, “I’ll be doing drumline this year, I’ll still hang ‘round the bandroom.”
Tony chuckled, watching you talk to the younger teenagers and hugging each of them. He was proud of you, no doubt about it.

My letter
(Note: I’m aware I can’t personally directly send this to him, but I still felt like sharing this with you, my dear comrades, I was feeling really rubbish yesterday but after typing out all of this I felt a lot better, a lot of the thoughts in this letter are what has been buried under the subtext of some of my poems and that one writing piece I did, some of the topics discussed reference mental health, personal aspects of my life and spirituality so TRIGGER WARNING!..you may keep reading)
Dear Doctor Rik Mayall
Hello!,
I’m Kelsey, I’m a huge fan of your work, old and new, a 17 soon to be 18 year old from Northern Ireland I, unfortunately, wasn’t around to see your Bottom stage shows when they came to Belfast, I was too little at the time.
I did know some of your work though, that short-lived King Arthur cartoon was a show I’d frequently watch, and I remember when you’d voice the Andrex puppy and narrate who let the dogs out!
In later years I’d eventually watch that Young ones show you did, I fell in love with that show, your character too, that show helped me at a time after I finished secondary school when I was feeling really depressed because of drama going on with someone who used to be my so-called friend who I had learned later was manipulating me.
Your show made me realise a lot about myself and the world around me, as someone raised tory you helped me express the true  socialist and anarchist views that I wanted to show, I’m now the me I always wanted to be,I’ve met a lot of my new mates the ones in my college and the ones off the internet because of you, because of either them and I mutually liking one of your shows or me introducing them to your shows and them enjoying it.
I used to study drama as you did, but then I had to study media instead, my dance instructor really tainted my confidence, however, I did get a good grade in LAMDA, the drama school that Nigel Planer and Peter Richardson went to, I just did the exam though,I still love drama and I write poetry (like your character did) and my own comedy monologues while it took time to realise I lowkey wanted to be a comedian as well as an actor and artist, but I used to think I wasn’t capable enough, but I’ve written 7 monologues since last summer up to now and I’m quite proud of my progress.
My media course is going well too, I’ve often referenced you in some of my sources for projects like my Moving Image class and one time we had to pitch a film idea and poster, so I chose that Drop Dead Fred film, because it’s one of my favourite films of all time and I felt like the only reason it didn’t get the proper praise it deserved at the time was due to bad marketing.
Outside of that, times have been less than stellar, a bloke last October manipulated me, I just wanted to be friends with him, but he ended up being very mentally abusive,I have Autism so sometimes I hyper fixate *gush* about my interests too intensely, and sometimes I overshare and make weird pop culture references only a few people get,it’s ok at times but other times it can weird people out and it makes me seem annoying to others when I don’t intend to be.
That and my childhood was quite lonely, and often I get traumatic flashbacks from old and modern incidents, and some of the flashbacks are made up and create “intrusive thoughts in my mind, I hate that, I haven’t had my other issues diagnosed, because I’m too busy to find therapy, my country has a backwards mental health system, and some people in my life don’t completely understand the issues I go through.
You and other icons in my life, help encourage me to keep going through the tough times and I’ve been able to help others going through similar problems too, I am so thankful for my friends and I’m so thankful for your presence in my life.
Barbara is a very lucky woman and so was Lise when you were with her and your work has heavily inspired my own.
I feel like whenever I’m acting or when I watch you acting, I see a spiritual philosophical wall beside us, I’ve read and watched all your interviews, most of your tv and filmography and your book is fantastic.
I feel like our personalities are similar, we are both kind, but cynical, we have our cold  moments and times when we just want to be cuddly teddy bears, we love audiences but we’re also shy and sometimes timid,I can’t list all the traits here basically I can go from entranced and hyper-fixated to Pessimistic and Quiet and Timid to Mellow and Loud to dazed, relaxed and happy. Quite a mix of traits, in the past I was an ignorant coward, now though I’ve learned from that and I’ve grown a lot as a person literally and figuratively.
I have taken your mantras to heart, after I got kicked out of my old performing arts course I reenacted your Theatre monologue and posted it on the internet, It got lots of positive feedback not too long after that I continued the poetry, eventually the monologues and in between I got my first job as an assistant stage manager on a local theatre production of West Side Story.
I have a lot in common with both you and your characters, well mainly the positive traits, the negative traits I try to work on, even through our appearances, people have said I look like you, that has helped me accept myself, my identity and my own appearance, I’m far from a portrait but if I’m compared to you then I’m also very gorgeous,I also sort of scrapped through my GCSE’s, technically some of them were BTEC’s, they’re like extension course things, but then some of them I was average at anyway and the performing arts course didn’t let me show my full potential while there I mainly did villain and minor character roles. I shouldn’t be defined by a piece of paper, I should be defined by who I am, a wonderful, creative, smart, kind and beautiful person...like you.
Some of the “poems” I’ve made were tributes to you, and how while yes you had your flaws too, you to me are the perfect person, never before have I been so inspired or so connected to someone who wasn’t a Japanese cartoon (apologies, if that sounds odd, while I liked celebrities not many of them were relatable to me)
I even sometimes dream about you, I dream about being apart of the comic strip, I dream about performing alongside you, I dream about simply hanging out with you, going to pubs, Bowie concerts and that Groucho club you were banned from.
While there were some moments in my life, that I can’t remove or were learning curves for me, to have been around at the time, would’ve been interesting, yeah there’s the political rubbish but that hasn’t changed in the 2010s either, we still have Thatcher but her name is Teresa now, and a talking orange called Donald Trump is ruling America but he’s also literally just a white blonde Hitler.
I understand there are time rifts and time zone differences in the universes around us, but I do really wish I could’ve met you in person, sometimes the lucid dreams give a similar experience except you in those is like an animated hologram,I often try to “spiritually communicate” with you, sometimes it works other times I just end up talking to an imaginary clone of you,I can tell because they look like how you did in the 90s, and not the chill grey-haired grandpa you are now, sometimes I see your real self in those dreams, other times I only hear your voice.
I want to carry on the legacy, I don’t just want to spread my own ideas while teaching the world about your masterpieces, I want to spread the love, I want to remind the world to laugh at misery,I want to bring more light into where you left off,you aren’t dead, your just not physically with the world anymore, your mind, spirit and memory are still alive, in most people, your memory lives on
People still talk about you, I think about you, while the tories are still twats, the young revolution of the new generation is getting more attention.
I’m going to be one of the youths leading it, I’ll never lose my wisdom and you’ll always have a presence in my life and the world.
as long as I, your kids and all your fans try to retain your memory, you’ll never “die”.
After all, you're the Rik Mayall, are you going to let God prevent you from occasionally visiting earth, visiting your family and friends? Of course not, I’m sure they miss you very much, and I’m sure Ade is sorry about that drama he caused about the Bottom spin-off.
Making the universe more bright and colourful
Lots of love as a fellow fan, performer and admirer but also as someone who sees you as a philosophical figure
xoxo
Kelsey
a.ka
That twit on earth from Northern Ireland who will never stop thinking about you
You utter pan-global phenomenon
I could only be talking about the one, the only, the Doctor Rik Mayall~

Pole class 11 and 12
These were my last two classes of this months session.
Class 11 was pole toning, and it was good. I improved on my back bend. I’m still having issues with upper body things but it isn’t too terrible.
Class 12, last class which ended about an hour ago. We learned one trick that I can’t remember for the life of me but it made me dizzy. We did a climb prep, which I was not good at because I again don’t have the upper strength. Then we went over almost all of the tricks we learned this month. I was able to do my basic spin one handed :) but I still have issue with the Peter Pan. Then there is the low fireman. Which I couldn’t do the first time we learned it, and then my instructor came to me last to do it, and EVERYONE was watching me. And I did it!! :) I can’t wait for classes to start again in a week and learn more and work on my tricks and shit. My new adventure continues...

Peter Parker X Reader - Fairytale
This is so long I’m so sorry!!! Anyway, Tom Holland Peter Parker X Reader, enjoy!!!!
Word Count: 2603
Summary: After a princess filled movie night, you tell Peter your princess dreams. Being the person he is, he decides to try and make that dream a reality.
“I wonder what it’s like.” You pulled your legs up onto the couch, sitting on top of them.
“What what’s like?” Your best friend, Peter Parker, sat on the floor in front of the couch, a bowl of popcorn in his lap.
“Being a princess. For real.” You grabbed the TV remote and clicked the off button, turning the previously colorful screen black. “Can’t you just imagine it, Pete?”
“Oh yeah, that princess life would be awesome.”
“Oh, you know what I meant,” you said with a laugh, swinging a pillow in his direction. He dodged it with a smile, tossing a handful of popcorn in your direction to fight back. “I just think it’d be refreshing.”
“To rule an entire kingdom?”
“No, to just be somewhere new. Plus, who doesn’t want to wear a beautiful gown?” Peter opened his mouth to speak, but you swung the pillow at him again. “You know what I meant!”
“Alright, alright, truce!” Peter laughed, pulling the pillow from your grasp. “I think that’s enough princess movies for tonight.”
“Just one more,” you insisted, clicking the TV back on. “I think… Beauty and the Beast should close out our movie night.”
“Fine. I’ll put it in.” Peter stood to find the disk and put it in. “Am I Adam or Belle this time?”
“Adam. I’m Belle, obviously.”
“Oh, right. You’re in a princess mood.” Peter pressed play and took his spot on the floor again, bowl of popcorn secure in his lap. He could hear you take in a breath as you prepared to sing the first song of the movie.
“Little town…”
.
.
.
“Whaddya think?” You stepped out of your bedroom in a dress, something you had hidden in the back of your closet a couple years ago. You only pulled it out because even after two weeks you were feeling the princess in you coming out, and even though the dress wasn’t your usual style you threw it on.
“It’s different. Cute though.” Peter tossed you your backpack. “C’mon, we’re gonna be late, princess.” You grinned, pulling the bag over your shoulder.
“Alright, let’s go, Parker.” With that, you two left the apartment and headed to school.
As usual, school was a drag and the classes you had without Peter were boring. As you sat in math, however, your teacher got a call.
“(Y/N), you’re needed in the main office.”
“Oooohhh,” the class chimed. You, confused by this call as you hadn’t done anything and weren’t expecting to leave early, picked up your bag and quickly made your way to the office. You were shocked at the sight that stood before you when you opened the heavy office door, however.
“-best friend, Mr. Stark!”
“Is that really all, kid?”
“She’s going to take this all the wrong way!”
“Look, it’s Normandy, not Paris. Besides, she’ll love it.”
“We’re going to France?” Tony Stark and Peter whipped around to look at you. “Tony Stark??”
“Surprise!” Peter said, giving you a smile. “I pulled a couple strings and Mr. Stark is letting me take you to France to live out your princess dreams for a few days.”
“Seriously? You convinced Tony Stark to fund us a trip to France?” Peter smiled and nodded, and Tony stepped forward and placed a hand on Peter’s shoulder.
“Yeah, well the kid’s special.” He removed his hand and began walking towards the door. “Anyway, we should get going. I didn’t buy a castle for you kids to be there for 10 minutes.”
“He bought a castle?”
“Come on, (N/N), we can’t keep Mr. Stark waiting.”
.
.
.
One flight to Normandy later, you and Peter stood at the foot of the castle Tony had purchased. It was large, with about 4 floors that you could see, and it had a lot of land surrounding it. Beautiful gardens and a good sized pond sat to the sides of the property.
“Wow,” was all you could say as you were ushered into the building.
“Now, I realize you want to live out your fairy tales, kids, but keep it PG. Think more Beauty and the Beast, less Reign.” You and Peter began to protest, you two were only friends after all, but Tony kept talking. “(Y/N), I’ve flown your parents out to Paris for a week so they’re nearby, and I called your aunt so she knows you’re with me, Parker. There’re clothes in the rooms so you can live out your fairytale or whatever. I’ll be popping in and out during the week. Have fun.” With that, Tony was gone, leaving you and Peter alone in the large front hall of the chateau.
“Oh, my God,” you said finally, the excitement finally settling in. “Peter! We’re in a castle in France!”
“I know!” Peter returned your excitement easily. “Go get changed into something more princess-y, then we can explore this place.”
One princess dress later, you and Peter (he was dressed in the finest, too) were running through the halls of the castle like children, trying to find any secrets that may lay within.
“This is so great, Pete. Thank you for this.”
“No problem, you’re always a princess to me and I thought you deserved to feel like one. It’s the least I can do, right?” You both took a seat on the elegant couch that sat in one of the many rooms. “By the way, Mr. Stark is throwing a ball at the end of the week. We’re invited if we go through with some dance lessons he set up.”
“Dance lessons? As in fancy, old-fashioned, ballroom dancing?” Peter nodded, and you broke out in smiles again. You leaned over and pulled Peter into a hug. “This is exactly what I needed. This is why you’re my best friend.”
.
.
.
“Ow!”
“Sorry, I stepped the wrong way.”
“Yeah, right onto my foot, Pete.” The instructor sighed and shut off the music.
“Children, take a break. 10 minutes.” You picked up your water bottle and popped it open, but didn’t take a sip yet.
“This is surprisingly hard,” you admitted, looking over to Peter. He was actually drinking his water, but nodded in agreement.
“It’s not that bad though, is it?” he asked. Secretly, he enjoyed being that close to you, even if it was just for the stupid dance. It was still nice to dance with you.
“No. And you being my partner makes it better,” you added with a smile, taking a sip of your water at last. “Promise me we’ll blow the socks off those old billionaires at Tony’s party?” Peter smiled and nodded.
“We’re so taking them down.”
.
.
.
You were out spending a moment alone by the pond, just admiring the view, when you heard a voice calling your name. Spinning around, you saw Peter walking toward you.
“I thought we could take a walk through the gardens together?” You agreed, and the two of you made your way to the beautiful flowers. You walked in silence, but it was comfortable, as you just enjoyed each other’s company.
The flowers were beautiful, and you reached around Peter to gently hold a particularly pretty one in you hand. “This place is enchanting,” you said as you pulled your hand back.
“Yeah, it’s crazy pretty here,” Peter agreed. “Plus, being here with my best friend makes it, like, 20 times better.” You smiled. He was right. If anyone else had flown you out to France for a week, you probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it half as much as you were enjoying this quality time with Peter. The two of you continued the walk in the garden, once again in a comfortable silence. The short talk had drifted you two closer, however, and your hands were occasionally brushing.
If only one of you had the courage to hold the other.
.
.
.
“Pete?” A soft light was pouring through a crack in Peter’s doorway, and your blanket-wrapped shadow appeared. “I’m sorry, I can’t sleep and I was wondering if I could-”
“Yeah, sure.” Peter sat up and patted the place beside him in the large bed, and you made your way over. You climbed onto the bed and pulled your blanket tighter around your body.
“Sorry, Pete. I just heard some noises and at night this place can get kind of creepy and I got a little spooked.”
“Hey, it’s okay. Besides, if there is anything creepy going down, you know I’ve got you.”
“Oh, right. My spider hero.” You giggled, giving Peter a small smile. “You didn’t actually bring your suit, did you?”
“Mr. Stark wouldn’t let me,” he admitted, making you laugh again.
“You need a break, Parker. I’m glad he didn’t let you. I get worried, you know.”
“I know.”
“For real, Peter.” You sat up a little straighter, placing your hands on his shoulders to look him in the eyes. “I can hear you crawling into your window when you come home in the middle of the night, and you’re terrible at hiding bruises, Pete. I know you insist that you’re fine, and I know you love helping people, but it worries me. What if one day you can’t crawl through your window? What if one day…” You removed your hands and pulled your blanket tighter, turning away from Peter so he couldn’t see the tears forming in your eyes. “I just get worried, Peter.”
“(Y/N), I’m not going to get hurt.”
“You don’t know that.” You could hear Peter sigh, and you felt his hand on your arm.
“Get some sleep, (Y/N). We can talk about this when we get back to Queens. For now let’s just enjoy France, okay?”
“Okay. Sorry I woke you.” With that, you crawled from his bed and headed back to your room.
.
.
.
The castle staff was rushing around, trying to set up for the ball that was in two days. You sat in a study, reading a book you had brought along, while Peter was off doing who-knows-what.
“(N/N)!” You looked up from your book to see Peter, soaking wet and shirtless, running towards you.
“Pete, what the hell?” You were laughing at his wet form, but still wondered how he had gotten that way.
“Ever wonder what it’d be like to swim in a pond?”
“Not really…”
“Well, come on! It’s fun, I swear.” He pulled you up off the couch and pulled you out the door. He didn’t let go until you had reached the pond. “Alright, it gets deep enough to jump in around… here.” He laughed and took a leap, splashing into the water like an eager child on a hot day.
“It’s cold out!” you exclaimed, but as the boy resurfaced he only laughed.
“Come on, (Y/N). I know you want to!” You shook your head and laughed.
It’s literally only 50 degrees out right now.” Peter swam toward where you stood.
“Fine. Help me out?” He reached out his hands, and you leaned forward to help pull him out. Instead, he tugged you forward, toppling you into the pond.
“Peter Parker!” you yelled, pushing dripping strands of hair out of your face. All you could hear was Peter’s laughter. “You are so dead.”
.
.
.
“Peter, where’s your little friend?” Tony Stark stood in the ballroom, adjusting his jacket while Peter glanced around. The ball was starting soon, and you were nowhere to be found.
“I-uh, I’m not sure,” Peter admitted, shrugging his shoulders. “But, before she arrives, can I ask one more favor, Mr. Stark?”
“Sure, kid.”
“Before we head back to the States, can we take a quick stop in Paris?”
“Paris, huh?” Tony looked over at the boy, giving him a smirk. “You finally gonna make a move?”
“W-what?”
“Look, kid, I know you’re head over heels for this girl. Sure, you two can make a stop in Paris.” Tony started to walk away, but turned back to say one last thing. “Just promise me you’ll kiss her. Don’t want a wasted trip to Paris.”
.
.
.
The ball had begun, and you were still in your room. You were wearing the most extravagant gown you had been provided, but you were slightly nervous. What if you looked ridiculous? What if it was too much? What if you and Peter actually sucked at dancing?
Your thoughts were interrupted by a gentle knock on your door. “Come in,” you called.
“Hey, you coming down?” Peter slid through the door, closing it behind him. “Wow. You look amazing.”
“Thanks,” you said, standing from your seat. “Yeah, I’m coming. Just not ready to leave this place, you know?”
“Well, Mr. Stark did buy it. Maybe we can come back during Summer break.”
“I’d like that.” You smiled and reached over to grab Peter’s hand. “Come on. Let’s go dance.” With that, you pulled him out of your room and down to the ballroom. There were a lot of people in beautiful gowns and nice suits, and you could make out your parents and Tony in the corner talking. You dragged Peter out into the middle of the dance floor, ready to show off your newly learned skills.
After hours of laughing and dancing with Peter, the ball ended. You were set to leave after the ball, so you went to your room to gather your things. When you returned back downstairs, Peter was waiting with a huge smile on his face. “One last stop!” he said, before pulling you out of the castle.
.
.
.
“It’s beautiful” You and Peter were walking up the Champs-Elysees, and the Arc de Triomphe stood before you. “I can’t believe we’re in Paris.”
“Me either,” Peter said, earning a laugh.
“Tell me we’re going to the Eiffel Tower?”
“Mr. Stark gave me directions on how to get there from here, don’t worry.” Peter grabbed your hand and pulled you down the street, leading you away from the giant arch. 30 minutes later, you and Peter had arrived at the foot of the tower. “Come on, if we hurry we can make the last elevator up,” he said, pulling you along.
At the top of the tower, you glanced over the edge out on Paris. It was breathtaking.
“Hey, (Y/N)? I have something I want to tell you.” You turned around to face Peter, who was messing with the hem of his sweater nervously.
“Yeah, Pete?”
“Okay, so, Mr. Stark made me promise I was going to do this because I probably wasn’t going to have to courage to do it otherwise so I just really need to tell you something.”
“Yeah, you already said that.” You laughed, turning back around to look out over the city again. “Go ahead, Peter.”
“Well, I like you. Like, really like you. Borderline love, probably.” Those words had you frozen in place. “God, and now you have no idea what to say. I probably just ruined our friendship, didn’t I?” As Peter continued rambling on, you found the strength to turn around.
“You… love me?” Peter stopped talking and looked up.
“Well, yeah, I think I do.”
“I love you too, Pete.” Peter broke out in a huge smile.
“Really?”
“Yeah.” You nodded your head and smiled. It was like your fairytale week was finally coming to its fairytale ending. “You know, I’ve always wanted to be kissed at the top of the Eiffel Tower.” Peter took the hint and moved forward, placing one hand gently on your waist while the other held your cheek. He slowly leaned in, closing his eyes in the process. You couldn’t help but smile as you leaned up to meet his lips.
Fairytale complete.

Tricks Are For Kitty
The post Tricks Are For Kitty by Sassafras Lowrey appeared first on Catster. Copying over entire articles infringes on copyright laws. Trick training isn’t just for dogs! Although cats are thought of as stubborn and independent, they are highly intelligent and are able to have a lot of fun learning tricks. Trick training isn’t about telling your cat what to do; it’s an opportunity to bond and develop a stronger relationship with your cat.
For Arden Moore, an author, pet behavior consultant, radio-show host and pet first-aid/CPR instructor, teaching tricks to her cats isn’t just a hobby, it’s part of her business “My two confident orange tabbies, Casey and Rusty, team up with my Terrier mix, Kona, and me to conduct in-person and Zoom interactive classes all over the country,” she says. “We conduct pet behavior and pet first-aid classes. We also visit animal shelter critter camps for kids and nursing homes to visit residents.”
Training can not only be fun for your cat, it can actually improve your cat’s quality of life. Trick training can give your cat an outlet for getting more physical exercise, and it can provide important mental stimulation as well. “Schooled cats are less apt to display unwanted behaviors, such as furniture scratching, waking you up too early, yowling or attacking your ankles,” Arden explains. “These unwanted behaviors are often triggered by boredom or the inability to unleash pent-up energy.”
Is your cat trainable?
When you start talking about teaching tricks to your cat, people might laugh. They mistakenly think cats are stubborn and untrainable, but in reality, cats are not only intelligent, they love learning new things.
Related: Take This Test to Figure Out Your Cat’s Personality Type!
“The most trainable cats tend to be those who have good attention spans, outgoing personalities and who are highly motivated by food, praise or grooming sessions,” Arden says. The key, like teaching any species, is finding your cat’s currency: what kind of treat or toy she finds most rewarding. “Before you launch into teaching tricks, devote a few days to look at your cat in a whole new way,” she says. “Focus your attention more on your cat’s actions and habits. By understanding cat chat and feline body cues, you will strengthen your communication skills with your cat.”
Getting started
None of us want to work for free. Learning tricks is fun but also hard work, and your cat deserves to be compensated with what she likes most — treats and toys.
Arden says that with her own cats, “Casey and Rusty are very food motivated, and I use that to my advantage when teaching them — and getting them — to perform tricks at home, in classes and at pet conferences.”
Try small bits of cat-safe people food like cooked, unseasoned meat or commercially available cat treats. What is most rewarding to one cat may not be as rewarding to another, so there may be some trial and error finding what is most motivating to your cat. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different treats to figure out what is the highest value.
Train where your cat is comfortable. For some catsthat will be elevated up on the couch or your bed, while others will prefer you getting down on the floor with them to train. When first getting started, try different areas and see where your cat is most comfortable.
For some cats, training solo with quiet time is important, so they don’t get distracted. Other cats, like my youngest cat, Thing, prefers and is most skilled at learning and most interested when he is training with my dogs, who he is very closely bonded to.
Here’s what you’ll need to trick train your cat
1. Treats that are high value to your cat. Don’t forget to try different things to find out what she likes best. Don’t overfeed, so feed her a little less dinner if you are going to give her a lot of treats to trick train.
2. Toys that your cat enjoys playing with.
3. Clicker (optional) if you want to use one as part of your training; you can find one at most pet supply shops or order online.
Tricks to teach your cat
When it comes to trick-training sessions, a little goes a long way. Short training sessions multiple times a day are much more effective than one long training session where you and your cat are likely to get frustrated or tired. Always keep your training sessions fun and upbeat, and stop a session while your cat is engaged and successful.

Sit
Sit is a fun introductory trick that is easy for most cats to master. 1. Get your cat’s attention with a treat. 2. Bring the treat down to your cat’s nose and slowly pull the treat up and slightly back. 3. As your cat’s nose follows the treat up and back, her bottom will go down. 4. As soon as your cat gets into the sitting position, click or verbally mark with a “Yes” or “Good” and give kitty the treat. 5. Repeat several times. 6. When your cat is consistently following the treat into the sitting position, start to introduce your verbal cue “Sit.” 7. Slowly phase out the treat lure the more experienced your cat becomes. 8. Treat your cat while she is still in the sitting position. You want to reinforce that sitting is what gets the treat

Come On Clue
Teaching your cat to come is not only impressive but it also can be really useful when you need your cat to come to you in the house when you need to find her.
1. For this trick, start with a bag of cat treats. 2. Get a foot or two away from your cat, and crinkle the bag to get her attention. When she moves toward you, praise her and give her treats from the bag. 3. As you practice, introduce a verbal cue like “Come” or “Close” as your cat is actively moving toward you and you are confident your cat will come to you. 4. Start to move farther away from your cat before crinkling the bag and calling. 5. As your cat consistently comes to you, start to phase out/limit crinkling the bag so your cat is just responding to the verbal cue to come.

Sit Pretty
For this trick, kitty will be sitting and then go up on her haunches with her front paws in the air. Sit Pretty requires coordination and core strength, so work slowly and recognize your cat might have to build up the muscle and coordination to do this trick.
1. When your kitty is sitting, bring a treat to her nose and slowly raise the treat up above her head. 2. Kitty will follow the treat and raise her body up onto her hips. When she gets into that position, praise and give her the treat. 3. Add the verbal cue like “Pretty” or “Beg” when your cat is comfortable being lured into the position each time. 4. If your cat goes up onto her hind legs instead of staying sitting while going up, your positioning is probably a little too high. Try slightly lowering your hand/treat to help your cat stay in the right position

High Five
Training is fun! Give your kitty a high five for all the smart learning she is doing with this trick.
1. Using a treat your cat is excited about, put some of it in one of your hands and close your fist around it. 2. Hold your hand up to your cat and wait. 3. Your cat will explore your hand trying to figure out how to get at the treat, possibly even nuzzling or licking your hand. The key is to be patient until your cat offers her paw to try to get at the treat. 4. The moment your cat’s paw touches your hand, praise and open your hand to give her the treat. 5. After a few repetitions, start introducing your verbal cue “Shake” or “Five.” By now your cat will start to understand that pawing at your hand is what releases the treat. 6. Next, hold up your open-palmed hand without at treat in it. When your cat reaches up with her paw, praise and treat. 7. Just like people are right or left-handed, cats also have a right and left side and may more naturally be inclined to offer up one paw or another.
About clicker training: Clickers are positive training aids that help you better communicate with your cat. A clicker is a box with a button or metal lever that when pressed delivers a distinct “clicking” sound. Clicker training is effective because it provides a clear and consistent signal to your cat to mark that the desired behavior has occurred and that a treat is coming. Clicker training is successful because it allows for people to precisely mark/let your cat know exactly what she did right. This helps your cat understand trick training faster and get less frustrated.
To start clicker training, you’ll need a clicker and lots of small-sized treats your cat likes. Start by creating value and positive associations between the clicking sound for your cat by repeatedly clicking and giving a treat. We want our cats to understand that hearing the click means a treat is coming. Once your cat associates the click with treats, start using the clicker in your trick training.

Spin
For this trick, your cat will spin in circles either left or right depending on your cue. Similar to being right or left pawed, your cat may be more likely to spin one way versus the other.
1. Show your cat the treat, and with her nose on the treat lure her in a wide circle. When she comes all the way back around, praise and treat. 2. As you practice, start adding in your verbal cue “Spin” or “Around.” 3. Practice luring your cat to spin both left and right. 4. When your cat is consistently spinning, start to phase out the wide-circle lure as your cat understands that the verbal cue and a small physical cue means you are asking her to spin in a circle.

Skateboarding
We’ve all seen the viral videos of skateboarding cats on social media. Most cats are probably not going to get excited about learning how to ride a skateboard, but if you have a young, energetic and treat-motivated cat, she just might be interested in giving it a try!
Supplies needed:
Skateboard — purchase a lightweight mini skateboard, which will be easier for cats to maneuver
High-value treats that your cat likes
Open area of your home with carpeting
A blanket
Start skateboarding inside for your cat’s safety. Also start on carpeting so that the board doesn’t roll too quickly from under your cat and scare her. This will allow kitty to keep better control over the board.
Two-Paws Push: 1. Use a treat to bring your cat next to the back of the board. 2. With the treat on your cat’s nose, lift the treat up and forward. Your cat’s head and front feet will follow. As soon as your cat’s front feet are on the board — praise and treat. 3. After a few repetitions, add a verbal cue like “Paws up.” 4. Keep feeding your cat treats in position with her paws on the board as it starts to slightly move. 5. As your cat gains confidence putting paws on the skateboard and the small amount of movement, move the skateboard from the carpet to a towel or blanket, which still provides a bit of resistance but allows the board to move more as your cat puts his front paws onto it. 6. When your cat is comfortable at that level of movement, put the board onto hardwood or other smooth floors. 7. Cats that tend to excel at skateboarding will naturally begin to find their own stride with pushing and riding the board at this stage.
If at any step your cat seems nervous, or uncomfortable, move the skateboard back to a surface where the board will move less, and keep those treats going!
Four-Paw-On Riding:
For a cat riding the skateboard with all four paws, start slow to make sure your cat doesn’t get stressed or fearful.
1. With treats your cat is excited about, lure your cat onto the skateboard, which is inside your home on carpet. When your cat has all four feet on the skateboard — reward and treat. 2. After several repetitions with the board staying still while the skateboard is still on carpet, gently begin to rock it forward with one hand while treating your cat with the other. 3. If your cat jumps off or is uncomfortable for the next repetition, just treat your cat for being four paws onto the board. 4. When your cat is comfortable with a small amount of movement of the skateboard, move the skateboard first to a blanket and then to hardwood floors. Keep treating your cat anytime the skateboard is in motion. The goal is for your cat to make positive associations (treats!) with being on the skateboard as it is moving. 5. As your cat gains confidence with riding a moving skateboard, begin to decrease the number of treats you are giving, so instead of feeding your cat the entire time he is riding the board, decrease the rate of treats to a small push and then treat.
Give your cats trick titles: If you and your cat are having fun with trick training, your cat can actually earn trick titles from the comfort of your own home.
The organization DMWYD (Do More With Your Dog) is the oldest trick titling organization and is very welcoming to feline participants! DMWYD trick titles can be earned by kitties anywhere in the world.
The structure of the program is that titles are earned via video submission. CTDI (Certified Trick Dog Instructors) review these videos and, once approved, cat guardians can submit the titles directly to DMWYD and they will be mailed an official title certificate and ribbon.
For Novice (the first level), cats must perform 15 different tricks. After that cats can earn Intermediate, Advanced, Expert and Championship titles. You can find the breakdown of tricks for each level of titling at domorewithyourdog.com (despite the name cats are welcome and encouraged to participate!)
Tricks in everyday life
Trick training is great for cats’ physical and mental health, but it also makes your cat more confident and comfortable in otherwise stressful situations like grooming and going to the vet. Trick training fosters a deeper relationship between the two of you. With more advanced tricks, your cat will learn “cooperative-care” style tricks, where she learns tricks that allow her to be an active participant in vet care or grooming by learning to offer her feet, ears and mouth for examination. These skills are similar to those used with our cats’ giant relatives in conservation/zoo environments where big cats like lions and tigers are taught to be active participants in vet care instead of being forced.
