verse one ( pre - series. )

this verse is set prior to the outbreak. heath works as a mechanic at a local autoshop, which he also part - uses for his side hustle of stealing cars. he doesn’t live with negan & lucille, but he does still visit every sunday for dinner without fail, if not more so since she got sick.

verse two ( season one to season six. )

this verse is set prior to negan’s introduction in the season six finale. unfortunately for heath, he wasn’t with negan & lucille when the world went to shit. the last time he spoke to his father, they were at the hospital. he raced there, but by the time he arrived, it had already been overrun by a horde of walkers. they weren’t anywhere in sight. heath travels alone for a while. he meets other survivors, though never stays with them, searching instead for family. he finally gets closer when he overhears a group talking about a man trying to find chemotherapy drugs for his wife. he follows the lead, but only finds a burnt out house and what remains of lucille. in some threads, he is the one who put her down due to walkers surviving fire. heath keeps searching for negan and eventually finds him. by the time he does, the saviors have already started to grow & establish themselves. he joins the ranks.

verse three ( season seven. )

this verse is set throughout season seven and follows canon events. heath lives at the sanctuary and though he isn’t considered a lieutenant himself, he will often travel with them to other settlements as an extra intimidating presence. the fact he’s negan’s son isn’t necessarily a secret to other saviors, but it isn’t immediately announced to outsiders due to the target it would put on his back, though the fact they look eerily alike was probably the first giveaway. it eventually becomes confirmed common knowledge after negan’s visit to alexandria with carl and heath shouts “dad!” when rosita shoots the bat. by this point, he is father to a little baby boy called sylver.

verse four ( season eight. )

this verse is set immediately after the season seven finale. as chaos reigns down on the sanctuary, mark and a few rogue saviors see an opportunity for revenge. heath had raced to sylver the moment rick & co. arrived, finding him under the protection of the wives. this then put them under his protection. unfortunately, they were no match ( and possibly didn’t even attempt to be ) against his attackers, and as bullets started to rain on the sanctuary, heath found himself pinned down. please note, from this verse & onward, heath now has his burns from the iron. they are relatively fresh and painful throughout this verse. now fully at war, heath is pushing himself to recover faster than he should, wanting to fight to defend their home. he’s a lot angrier, a lot bitter, a lot everything.

verse five ( alternative season one - onward arc. )

this verse can be set during any season and is a divergent take on verse two. unable to locate his father after finding the burnt out house with lucille inside, heath starts to suspect the worse. he instead stumbles across rick grimes. at first, the group are hesitant to trust another person, but he earns their trust when he helps aid them in the fight against the governor. from that point, heath becomes part of the gang, eventually ending up at alexandria with them. here, he has his son with another resident. these people become his friends. they become his family. imagine his horror when rumblings of the saviors begin, and they utter those three words: we are negan. please note, in this verse heath still obtains his burns, but they happen in season six at the hands of a savior mimicking their leader as punishment for their rebellion. they have no idea heath is negan’s son until later, when an already - injured heath finds himself at the infamous lineup.

verse six ( alternative season season eight arc. )

this verse is set throughout season eight and based around people not knowing about his existence. feeling as though he has something to prove after being humiliated by mark, heath plots his own attack; infiltration. he uses anonymity to his advantage. he decides keep your friends close, your enemies closer. when aaron comes across a burnt man and his young son, the only thing he sees is a father & son surrounded by walkers in need of aid. he offers it, taking them back to alexandria or the hilltop (could be either), where heath claims to have escaped a group of violent saviors. his injuries only further sell his story when he says they were a punishment for refusing to join. from this point, heath is invited into the fold. he now lives among them, pretending to be a friend when really he’s the son of their biggest foe, sending any information he gains back to the sanctuary. an important note: i do not think negan knew heath was going to do this. he did it of his own accord and once he was in, he found a way to contact his father to inform him.

verse seven ( season nine prisoner arc. )

this verse is set from the season nine finale and follows canon events. refusing to cooperate and proving himself untrustworthy, heath too became a prisoner alongside his father. he is kept in a separate cell, behind bars, to avoid him enacting revenge or releasing negan. as a result, sylver was placed into the care of another alexandria, hilltop or kingdom resident and remains here. threads can be before or after the mid - season timeskip. if after the timeskip, heath remains a prisoner. his son is now around six or seven, and has been raised away from him, though whether he’s been allowed visitation, etc. is open for potential plotting. this verse can also be linked to verse six, with him being imprisoned by the same people that used to think he was a friend before his betrayal was revealed.

verse eight ( season nine - onward released prisoner arc. )

this verse can be set anytime after the six year timeskip in season nine. i call this.. heath’s cliche prison escape, aka he wooed another resident into falling in love with him. could be your character, could be a random npc. either way, somewhere along those six years, they started visiting more & more, and he saw an opportunity. this resulted in them speaking in his favour and, after a lot of persuasion, heath was released under the promise he was a changed man. he isn’t! absolutely still has ideals of busting negan out and finishing that war they never finished. however, i do think he’s started to form some emotional attachments and is more changed than he realises, especially when he sees how well - looked after sylver has been, putting this version of him in quite the turmoil.

verse nine ( season nine alternative arc. )

this verse is set from season nine and onward. everything goes to shit. eugene betrays them, rick cuts his father’s throat right in front of him then orders they save his life. the fighter in heath wants to go down swinging, but he realises he has to be smarter for once. he has a son to consider and so, he flees. in this verse, heath survives to final savior v. militia showdown and manages to escape before they imprison him too. he hides out in a found abandoned cabin, a few remaining saviors with him & looking to him to lead in negan’s absence.

verse ten ( spn verse affiliated with @unclenegan )

this verse is heavily affiliated with my version of negan winchester, found on @unclenegan. heath is the son of negan and, in turn, the nephew of john winchester as well as cousin to his boys. when negan first went into hunting, he tried with all his might to keep heath separate from it. he didn’t want that life for his son, but his son had other ideas, too angry at what had happened to lucille. eventually, after heath hunting by himself, negan had to accept defeat and begrudgingly brought him into the saviors. in season four, heath is still burnt by a very human mark. the attack is an act of cruel revenge after negan, discovering one of his trusted saviors was in a relationship with a vampire named amber and believing it had put their entire sanctuary at risk, set fire to his lover’s nest with her inside. mark was killed for his troubles, but not before leaving behind a mark both heath & negan will face everyday.
