Would Lexi ever try to get custody of Stef?
No, for a couple reasons.
Lexi cannot stay in one place for very long. She loves to travel, try new things. If she's going to live forever, she's going to make the most of it. This also means she's doing things that do not support a Little lifestyle. Such as following rock bands on tour, getting wasted in bars, etc. While Damon does still go out and drink, have one night stands, etc, he does it all in Mystic Falls and not all the time. Lexi's lifestyle is not sustainable to be a full-time caregiver.
While it would be something she may want, it is not in the best interest of Stefan. He loves her. She's his big sister. But she is not Damon. Stefan is very attached to his big brother. They have been through far too much to be separated. I think Damon would relent if he knew it was what Stefan truly wanted and it was the best thing for him. But, it just isn't. In the aftermath of the Tanner situation. Stefan flat out says that he doesn't want to be away from his big brother. No matter how Lexi feels about Damon, Stefan's well-being and feelings come first. Always.

creators notes on each episode of belliveau so far: episode 2
Tumblr media
the art of this is the earliest art i did for the comic and honestly…i really DO NOT like it. this is probably my least favourite episode artistically i can’t even stand to look at it but that aside…
eliza handcuffing stefán to the desk was another thing that i came up with very early on and it’s HILARIOUS for absolutely no reason. she’s like ok i’ll help you but i’m going to make sure you don’t do anything crazy
will forever laugh at the comedic timing of the first three panels. it’s hilarious always
eliza “i love a good murder case” hailey … iconic line i love her so much.
the funniest bit is eliza seemingly bothered by the fact he’s a murderer and then immediately following that by implying she would kill him
the second funniest bit is them just glaring at eachother constantly
“it all started long ago when my father—“ NO.” was pure genius on my part. why is that so funny
in the panels of the flashback to stefán finding the news report, i had to casually make a whole new model for the background. for fun. yknow. and also it was there i decided he was going to have super long legs. that was never a part of his design before but then and there it was decided
i also made separate art + graphics for the professors ID and the news report AND that graphic that goes up when he’s like “the police don’t even know what i look like”. kind of like how they turned out
also about ^^ the picture of assassin stefán i like to think it was a PR stunt. like. who caught him looking like that? or it’s some poster someone drew to look like him. that’s my thoughts
“why do you think i look like i wrestled a squirrel?” why is he like this (i actually do remember thinking that was HILARIOUS when i wrote it but now it’s …no)
*stef backstory* *random shot of their feet*
i liked adding things super early on that set up everything else in the story. like it seems like random information at the beginning but OHOHOHO JUST WAIT JUST YOU WAIT MY FRIENDS
the amount of panels i had to use myself as a reference for was…so interesting. i was also super sick when i made the second half of this episode which i think is a fun fact
TOMMY ?
WHY DID YOU TRUST HIM THAT FAST ELIZA. YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THIS. EVERY MURDER DOCUMENTARY STARTS THIS WAY ?
stef is canonically homeless btw
that’s it

Reflection 25/11/23
Met Stef in the afternoon and she dropped a big bomb. I totally didn't expect that and the meeting ended with me being very confused and anxious.
Met Lings after to talk to her about what Stef shared and some personal thing that i am unsure on how to move forward.
Purpose
The first question i asked God almost immediately was 'God, what is your purpose for me?' I know very clearly what God is doing in my own personal walk but in terms of His purpose and where He leading me towards i'm confused and unsure.
Motive
The next question that i asked God was 'God, what then should my respond be?' There were alot of fear and uncertainty that came to mind. I was fearful of the unknown, the plans ahead seems blur and i know my avoidant self wants to avoid everything and stay in my comfort zone. But at the same time, i know in my heart that i want to choose what God is calling me to and not what i deem as safer or better.
Worship
God of my forever — God reminded me that He is the God of my youth and will be the same God in every season of my life. Throughout my whole journey with Him and in every decision i make, God is faithful and will always be. As i ponder on this throughout worship, I know that this is God's answer to my fears and uncertainty that He was, is and will continue to be faithful.
I say yes — This was the tough one LOL. When this song came, i asked God if this is what He wants me to say to Him. The one thing i know that God is speaking which is also my respond to Him is that i want to always say yes because i wanna love Him and following Him the rest of my life. At this point, i still don't have an answer if what Stef asked is really God's purpose and calling for me. But i know in whatever and wherever God is calling me to, my one and only respond is to say yes because i just simply wants to obey.
Prayer
My prayer is this that i will continue to yield and press in till i get a clear answer from God. I don't want to make this decision and settle for what i 'think' God is saying but i want to hear and know that it is God's calling for me. My respond to God is that i don't want to live a safe life but i want to risk this one and only life and trust God with it — Therefore, if God's purpose and calling is for me to go, then i will say yes despite the fears and uncertainty.

yours for the weekend - nico hischier
Tumblr media
note: this is part of the late nights in the middle of june series. Everyone say Happy Birthday, Nico! for Tuesday.
word count: 3,339
summary: They'll always find a way.
Tumblr media
It hurt a little bit to let Daisy drag her out of the arena before she’d seen Nico. All the partners had told her that she’d be waiting forever, that none of them were hanging around because the time would be better spent preparing for the New Year’s party and she didn’t disagree… It just pained her to be so close to him without him even knowing she was there.
The month of December had been nothing short of awful.
The message to her Instagram had startled her because she’d expected it to be a message from someone asking exactly how she knew Nico (it wouldn’t be the first). What she’d received was from @haisydolston that said:
Hi stef!! Nico talks about you all the time and I think you should come to new jersey for Christmas
I’m daisy btw
Jack’s girlfriend
It can be a surprise for nico!
As lovely an idea as it had been, and Stef was quick to agree after working out her schedule between university and seeing her family, it didn’t take long at all before Stef realised that lying to Nico was not normal.
So, Stef had spent an entire month lying to one of a handful of people she had never lied to before all in the name of a surprise. And she still had to wait a few more hours before the lies could end despite being oh so close.
They got changed at Daisy’s house and then, when the time finally came, climbed into the Uber that took them to a ridiculous bar that had been booked out for the team’s party.
The event was nothing like Stef had ever experienced before, an odd mix between her university house parties and dinners she’d attended with her parents; Stef had never seen so many outfits with sequins in her entire life.
Stef made a split-second decision when she saw Nico—she’d never had second thoughts about how she greeted him until she was standing in a room filled with his teammates who she’d never met before. At least, that was until she saw him and then she was running through the crowd of teammates. She barely saw the recognition on his face before her feet were leaving the ground and her legs were wrapping around his waist.
Stef pressed a kiss to his left cheek then his right cheek and then to his mouth just as he worked out what was happening and moved his hands under her thighs—the skin-to-skin contact was incredible.
“I missed you,” she breathed, leaning her head back so they were making eye contact.
“How are you here?”
“It was Daisy’s idea. Apparently, you’ve been talking about me more than ever.”
“I’ve missed you, what can I say?” Nico laughed, unashamed.
Steff kissed him again, tongue and all, and could vaguely hear someone behind her comment on how they thought Jack and Daisy’s PDAs were bad. Maybe Stef deepened the kiss because of it.
“How long do I have you for?”
“My flight is Sunday evening.”
Nico’s sigh was heavy before he said, “I can’t even be mad that you’re not here for my birthday because I won’t be here for my birthday.”
“I thought about it,” Stef told him, her hands cupping his cheeks. “I would have missed a few days of classes if you weren’t on a road trip.”
Nico kissed her again, more subdued than their initial kiss, before he put her back on her feet.
It was easy to follow Nico around, letting him introduce her to his teammates. They all knew who she was before he even said anything—half of them introduced themselves before Nico even had the chance to speak—and Stef felt a little more lightheaded every time it happened.
It was something she’d been thinking about since she’d read Daisy’s first messages. How much did Nico actually speak about her? Was it just in passing? Was it conversations about her specifically? Did he just manage to relate things back to her when talking to people? She guessed it was probably all of the above.
Stef found Daisy after she’d been paraded around the venue. She grabbed a glass of wine from a passing waiter, kissed Nico and left him to speak to some of his teammates. He gave her a concerned look as she stepped away from him but she smiled and pointed at Daisy until his face relaxed.
Truth be told, the pride that he had in her was beyond anything she could ever have imagined and she needed a second to breath.
As the night grew on, midnight drawing nearer, Stef made her way back to Nico where he was talking to Jonas—she’d met him at camp in Bern over the summer so at least he was a familiar-ish face.
“Why aren’t you drinking? It’s New Year.” Stef sidled up beside Nico, easily filling the space under his arm; he’d raised it as soon as she got close.
“I get one day with you. I want to enjoy it.”
The glass in Stef’s hand was instantly heavier and the blur in her vision decidedly stronger. She had been preparing herself for a dreadful hangover; all it took was Nico’s words to have her finding a nearby table to put her champagne on.
“You could have told me your plan. You would have spent all day looking after me.”
“I don’t like telling you what to do,” Nico shrugged, “and I have no problem looking after you.”
Stef swayed, his words filling her with so much emotion that she didn’t know how else to release it. She leant up, pressed her hand to his cheek so that she could pull his mouth to hers.
“You are very good at looking after me.”
Jonas groaned beside them, and they both turned to look at him. He said, “This isn’t fair when I’m the only one who understands you two.”
“Stop eavesdropping,” Nico deadpanned, kissing Stef again, though much more pointedly than before.
“I haven’t moved!” Jonas protested, another groan leaving his mouth when Stef pulled Nico even closer.
The countdown started shortly after; everyone had champagne glasses in one hand and partners in the other.
A chorus of Happy New Year! rang out through the room and then Nico was kissing Stef as if there was nobody else in the room.
Tumblr media
Waking up was less enjoyable than Stef would have liked, but not as bad as she had been anticipating when she showed up at the party—and then she rolled over, expecting to see the wall of her Zurich bedroom, and forgot how to breath.
Nico was lying on his side, and he lowered his phone when he noticed her movement so that she got the full force of his lazy morning smile. Stef surged forward with enough momentum behind her to rolled him onto his back and she buried her face into his shoulder. His arms were tight around her, no space was left between their bodies, and she felt more relaxed than she had in months.
“Good morning,” Nico laughed. “I didn’t think you’d ever wake up.”
“Now is not the time to let me sleep in, Nico,” Stef whined, pulling back and making sure he could see her exaggerated frown. “We have limited time together. I wouldn’t sleep tonight if it wouldn’t mess up your game.”
Nico’s hands were cool against her bare waist. He slid them from her ribcage down to her ass and then up again and it was so hypnotising, so calming, that Stef felt her eyelids droop. She rolled off him instantly, squeaking as she did so, until she was standing beside the bed.
She was shameless, comfortable, standing before him entirely naked and demanding her tell her what time of day it was. If she wasn’t so conscious about their limitation of time, the smirk on his face would have been more than enough to have her crawling back next to him.
He had barely been able to tell her that it was nine thirty before her back was to him and she was rushing into the bathroom to shower. The water wasn’t even hot before she was stepping into its spray.
Nico joined her, recoiling as he put his hand under the still lukewarm water.
“Stef…” he said, concerned and slow, that same hand touching her wrist to stop her from reaching the shampoo. “We have so much time.”
“What do you mean? We have no time, Nico, there’s so much to do.”
“There’s nothing we have to do. I just want to spend the day with you.”
Stef froze for a brief second before falling forward and pressing her forehead to his chest. She counted her breathing; four seconds in, hold for seven, out for eight. Nico released her wrist, his arms wrapping around her as he angled them so that water wasn’t just streaming over Stef’s face.
Nico let her breathe, counting along with her, until it turned back to her regular pattern.
“I’m sorry,” she sighed, her lips moving against his chest. “I’m so stupid. I—I just want to spend the day with you, too, and I was going to ruin it by rushing through a to-do list.”
“Do you even have a to-do list?”
She looked up at him, frowning at his teasing, “No. I don’t know what there is to do here.”
“Oh, so you thought I would have a to-do list for the visit I didn’t know was happening. It’s also New Years Day, so not everything will be open.”
With an accompanying eye roll, Stef draped her arms over his shoulders, “I guess your company will have to do, then.”
Their kiss was gentle and unassuming, even though it definitely could have led to something without much effort.
Stef slowed down after that, able to just enjoy having Nico by her side as she got ready for the day. It was the way he pressed his body up against hers, moved her hair to kiss the back of her neck as he passed her, that ensured she didn’t forget just why she’d gotten on the plane.
As Stef was finishing getting ready, Nico found them a café that was open for breakfast and, after a quick make out session at the front door they pulled on their coats and scarves and descended on New Jersey.
If it weren’t for the weather, it would feel exactly like they were back in Bern, when Stef had joined Nico while he did his summer training.
Walking down the street, hand in hand, Stef told Nico all about how hard it had been to keep the trip from him. She was able to laugh about it, at least, especially with Nico’s teasing about it—he wasn’t considering it lying when it was a surprise for him.
Breakfast was appropriately greasy given the slight ache in Stef’s head, and appropriately diet-approved given that Nico had been a bit more well behaved the night before.
“Do I have something on my face?” Stef asked, lifting a napkin and trying to wipe away anything that may have missed her mouth.
“No,” Nico said, shaking his head, “you just don’t wear make up in the summer, so I’m not used to it.”
“I was wearing more make up last night,” Stef said, tilting her head.
“Yeah, that’s not what I was focused on last night.”
“What were you focused on?” Stef pitched her voice lower, leant across the table and made sure her foot brushed against his calf.
“You want to do this here?” he asked, his voice thick.
“No,” Stef relented, relaxing back with a sigh. “But you should definitely tell me later.”
Nico folded his arms over his chest, also leaning back in his seat. He was far less relaxed about it, though, and Stef could see the tension in his jaw. Her smile was innocent as she went back to eating her breakfast.
Out of nowhere, after a comfortable if not slightly sexually charged silence, Nico said, “Julien wants to propose to Tanja.”
“He what?!” Stef asked, losing control of the volume of her voice and drawing the attention of the few other people in the restaurant. “Since when? How’s he finding a ring? Who’s helping him?”
“He was going to ask you when you were in Zurich but couldn’t get you alone.”
Stef squealed, closed mouth to muffle some of the noise. Tanja and Julien had been together for so many years and it had always been inevitable that they would marry, and Stef had been waiting for it. She was going to make sure that she was as big a part of the ring choosing process as she could be.
The excitement of it all had her shaking in her seat—until it didn’t. Until a new and unwelcome thought crossed her mind.
“Does that mean our summers change?” Stef asked, doing her best to remove any sadness threatening to escape.
“Why would it? They may as well already be married. They might not even get married for a few years.”
“It has to change sometime, doesn’t it? It can’t just be the four of us forever.”
“It will be for a few more years.”
Stef didn’t dare ask about what was going to happen the summer he wanted to bring a girlfriend along with them—if she didn’t speak it, it couldn’t come true.
“Can we go into New York?” she asked instead.
“Times Square is going to be gross after last night.”
“Central Park? Will MOMA be open?”
“We can check and if it isn’t then Daisy will probably go with you tomorrow morning.”
Stef wouldn’t go without Nico, and she was sure he knew that, though it did warm her heart to know that he’d find a way to get her there if she really wanted to go.
The hopped on the PATH train and then onto the subway, standing almost on top of each other the entire time. A few people gave them unimpressed looks because of their closeness—or maybe it was the fact that they were kissing each other rather relentlessly while being pressed chest to chest. They would never know.
MOMA was open and relatively quiet—most likely a sign that most of New York and its tourists were still in bed nursing hangovers. They both removed their gloves, checked their coats and Nico suggested that they get a coffee before they ventured into the exhibits.
“I feel good, Nico,” Stef said softly, tugging on his hand to stop him from heading in the direction of the café.
Nico shrugged, looking only a tad caught out, “What if I want another coffee?”
“You drink too much coffee,” Stef said, looking Nico dead in the eye as she said it, “but fine.”
Their visit went much the same as every other time they’d been in a museum. Stef wasn’t as well versed in art as she was science, but she was very good at reading the plaques and recalling random pieces of information she’d read online. It was more than enough to keep Nico rapt.
It was nothing like they’d ever done before because Stef could lean back into Nico as he stood behind her, let him drop his chin onto her head. She could lead him through the museum by the hand. They could stop wherever and kiss freely, even if it did earn them more disapproving looks from passers-by.
The entire day was easy from when they finished at the museum to when they stood in the kitchen to cook dinner together. They could barely keep their hands off each other.
Whilst they were cooking and eating dinner, it was easy for Stef to get lost in the dream that it was her everyday life. Looking over at Nico, to see him smiling softly, whether it be at her or just at his own thoughts, was so nauseatingly tempting.
She could have spent hours just being in his space, living in his house, but Nico was a professional athlete with a regular bedtime that was much earlier than her usual University student bedtime, so she wandered up the staircase while he made them tea.
Stef sat up against the headboard, waiting for Nico to finally come back upstairs. It had probably realistically been ten minutes since he went downstairs with the intention of making tea; she just couldn’t shake the worry that any time not spent right next to each other was time wasted.
He slipped into the room carrying two mugs and placed one on the bedside table next to Stef. She closed her eyes and leant up for a kiss. It never came.
“Am I going to wake up tomorrow to you ignoring me?” Nico whispered; Stef opened her eyes to see him standing at the end of the bed.
The hurt etched on his face was
“No. I know that we’re still—we’re still Nico and Stef. I was just scared last time. I didn’t need to be.”
“We’re always Nico and Stef. I don’t ever want you to be scared of that. Of me.”
Stef’s heart broke and all she could do was reach out to touch him, no matter that he was still at the end of the bed. She sighed, anguished, “Nico.”
By the time he had walked around to the side of the bed, Stef was on her knees in front of him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, holding him as close as she possibly could. He relaxed against her, resting his weight on her.
“You’re the least scary person I know,” Stef whispered into his ear.
It wasn’t all she wanted to say, and she was sure it wasn’t all he wanted to hear; they both knew they couldn’t say anything more when they were going to be separated. So, they fell back onto the mattress and tried to show each other.
Tumblr media
Stef heard Nico before she saw him descend the stairs. She knew that he was carrying his hockey bag and a small suitcase because she’d watched him start packing them; it didn’t hurt any less when she did see him.
“Maybe I should just stop studying and move here.”
“Not a chance,” Nico said firmly, his hockey bag dropping to the ground loudly. “You’d never forgive yourself.”
“I’d never forgive myself? Or I’d never forgive you?”
“Yourself,” Nico said firmly. “I’ve never known you to hold a grudge against anyone else. Besides, you’re The Future of Medicine so you need to finish studying.”
Stef huffed, “I could hold a grudge if I wanted to.”
Nico’s eye roll was vicious, disbelieving. He walked to her, pulling her out of her seat and away from her granola. He was telling her that he didn’t want to leave, that he didn’t want her to leave, but he knew that she needed to.
“I’ll see you in Tenerife?” Stef asked, as if she didn’t already know the answer. As if Nico was going to suddenly change his mind and not join her, Tanja and Julien on their summer tradition.
Nico hummed, resting his hands on her waist and pulling their hips together. He asked, “When is your last day of school?”
“The last week of June. I’m basically in Zurich for one day before I’m back on a plane to see my favourite people.”
Nico thought for a moment, Stef watched his eyes as they looked over her head. She couldn’t help but smile up at him and kiss the underside of his jaw.
“I’ll come to Copenhagen when the season’s over.”
“Kommer du til København?” Stef gasped, switching from their native Swiss German to her learnt Danish with ease. “Virkelig?”
“I don’t know any of the words you just said,” Nico laughed, “But as soon as the season’s done I’ll be there with you.”
Stef buried her head into his chest, feeling the swelling of her heart take over her entire being.

Title- 'The Salvatore and The Mikaelson
Pairing- Elijah Mikaelson x Salvatore!Reader
Summary: You are the older sister of Damon and Stefan Salvatore and had came from England with your husband to visit. You meet Elijah Mikaelson the night you learned Katherine's dark secret.
A/N: An idea popped in my head and I ran with it.
You sighed looking at your husband who shrunk away from your cold stare you got from your father. You and your husband had to go stay with your father and brothers while your husband's family had to fix things in England when word got out he was having an affair with a lady of the night.
"My beloved, please stop staring at me."
"Don't James. We wouldn't be in this mess if you kept it in your pants." You said as the carriage stopped in front of the Salvatore home. Damon stood outside with Stefan both dressed in nice suits with a woman standing between them.
"I wasn't aware you both had an older sister."
"Careful Katherine, Y/N is a cold woman so try to make a good impression because she is every critical of any woman near me and Stef." Damon said as Stefan glared at Damon as Katherine watched the driver helped you out. You dressed in a beautiful navy blue dress your dark hair in a low bun two curls framing your face.
"Your sister is every beautiful." Katherine said watching you open your fan as James came out of the carriage. James was a small round man as Katherine thought you should have married a much more good looking man.
"Welcome Y/N, James."
"Stefan, Damon. Who is this?" You asked staring at Katherine with a cold calculated stared that reminded the boys of your father. You were protective of your brothers which was why Giuseppe had married you off believing you were too soft with your brothers.
"This is Katherine Pierce, she is staying with us for awhile. She has no where else to go." Stefan said knowing you were judging Katherine but noticed the soft glit in your eyes.
"Lovely. James and I are only stay until next summer."
"Well me and Stef missed you sis." Damon said with a smile as you all went inside. That evening Katherine noticed how you seemly stayed near your brothers and them doing the same.
"Lady Salvatore, Stefan says you are a novelist." Katherine says sipping her tea as your eyes settled on her while your brothers were playing ball with your husband.
"Yes I am. Have you read them?"
"Why yes. But I must say I'm surprised a woman like yourself would write such scandalous things." Katherine said as you smirked sipping your own tea.
"We women do have fantasies of a handsome tall dark stranger to steal us away at night. To ravish us like no other can."
"Yes but your husband."
"My husband wouldn't know how to please a woman unless he pays for it." You said watching James fall face first and Damon burst out laughing while Stefan helped him.
"But vampires?"
"We all crave the darkness Miss Katherine." You tell her standing up to go help James while Katherine stared at you. A week into your stay you learned Katherine's secret. It was a late night as you woke feeling the bed was cold and noticed your husband was gone.
"I swear to God." You groaned getting out of bed putting on a dressing robe and went looking for James. You lit a candle walking out to the quiet hallway when you heard James moaning and realized it was coming from Katherine's room.
"James you piece of......." You stopped seeing Katherine on top of James with a bloody mouth. Katherine looked at you seeing you drop the candle before running.
You knew you couldn't tell Damon and Stefan, they were in town with your father for the night. You decided to run for it not before grabbing your vervain as Katherine caught you and was going to bite you. You smashed the bottle of vervain against her face making her let you as you got up running out into the cold night.
You were panting as you ran having grabbed a wooden stake on your way out. It was freezing as you could see your breath crying out when Katherine grabbed you by your hair throwing you down.
"I was going to let you live Y/N. But you ran and going to tell them about me." Katherine said tilting your head getting ready to bite you.
"Don't worry I'll make it pa......" You cut Katherine off when you stabbed her in the abdomen. You pushed her off when the vampire fell over and you got up running once again. Katherine growled pulling out the stake pissed off but impressed with how much you were fighting.
You screamed when an arm came around your waist and pulled back against a strong chest.
"Careful there." You heard a smooth voice say as you looked up your breathing hitched seeing a every handsome man staring down at you with warm mocha eyes.
"You're hurt." The man said as you realized that Katherine had hurt you as your side was bleeding. The man bit his wrist holding it up to you and you were confused. You ylep when he pressed his wrist to your mouth forcing you to drink his blood healing you.
"Elijah?!" You heard Katherine and you tensed in Elijah's hold as he calmly looked up pulling his wrist from your mouth.
"Katerina, I've been looking for you."
"I'm aware but I would like Lady Salvatore back." Katherine said as you gripped Elijah's arm and he picked up on your racing heart.
"You're going to kill her."
"She caught me. She knows too much I can't risk it."
"Why not compel her?" Elijah asked as you realized he was a vampire and tried to get away from him but Elijah held you tighter.
"Drinks vervain. Death is my only option." Katherine said as you managed to break away from Elijah falling to the ground. Katherine grabbed you making you cry out.
"Katerina, don't hurt her. What if I took her? Help cover your tracks." Elijah says watching Katherine hold your neck as you teared up scared.
"Sorry Elijah I can't risk it." Katherine said snapping your neck and dropped your body leaving. Elijah frowned walking over picking up your body taking you back to the inn he was staying in.
You woke up with gasp noticing you were in a man's shirt and in a warm bed. Elijah walked in carrying a tray with a glass of red liquid.
"Good morning Lady Salvatore."
"You're the man from last night....but Katherine killed me."
"I'm Elijah Mikaelson, you had my blood in your system. You are in transition if you don't drink this blood you'll die." Elijah tells you as you stared and took the glass drinking it taking the first step in forever.
Elijah had became your friend, Sire and now husband as you were now 181 years old and it felt weird being back in Mystic Falls. You walked down the street as you hadn't really changed as you were still bit of a cold woman.
"Stefan?" Elena asked as seeing the vampire stopping and followed his line of sight seeing you standing in front of a floral shop.
"That is my sister."
"I thought Katherine killed her like you said?" Elena said following after Stefan when he headed for you.
"So did I."
"Hello Stefan." You say when you looked up seeing your baby brother then your eyes landed on Elena. Elijah had told you about the doppelganger as you both got to town.
"How are you?"
"Alive? I was turned like you by my husband."
"James was a vampire?" Stefan asked confused as you laughed lightly.
"No, my Sire is my husband. Katherine killed James the night she thought she killed me."
"Wait who is....."
"Hello Stefan, Elena. I hope you both aren't bothering my wife." Elijah says walking up standing by you kissing your hand as you blushed still not used to Elijah being affectionate with you.
"You turned my sister!" Stefan growled angry as you stepped between them eyes narrowed at Stefan.
"If he hadn't I would be dead. Elijah tried saving me from Katherine." You tell your brother as Stefan looked between you and Elijah.
"Let's go Elena. I need to tell Damon." Stefan said leaving with Elena as You frowned. Elijah placed a hand on your waist.
"Don't worry dear. We should get going, mother is planning a ball."
"Alright. It has been awhile since I went to a ball." You tell Elijah hoping that it will go well with Damon.

hello my darlings! it’s that time of year again, where everything is pink and fluffy and heart-shaped. last year i did a countdown series of some of my favorite ships, which was challenging but fun! but this year i thought i might do something a little more interactive. that’s where you come in!
this celebration is a little mix of a follow forever and a creator game. the part where you come in is down below! it’s a mix of popular content creator memes and some extra goodies i threw in for fun, and all you have to do is pick whatever one calls to you and send me an ask with the mentioned information, and voila, you’ll get a custom fanwork! how fun is that? not only is it a way to give back to my little community, but it also strengthens my creativity, so i think that’s a win-win, no? plus there’s options for both visual and written content, woo! ✨
take a look below and then send something in here!
color palette meme: send me 🎨 + a color palette and a character, ship, show, movie, etc. and you’ll get a gifset inspired by it timestamp roulette: send me ⏱ + an episode or movie and you’ll get a gifset of random moments make me choose: send me 👯 + two (or more) characters, ships, episodes, shows, movies, etc. and you’ll get a gifset of my fave! wardrobe meme: send me 👗 + a character, movie, or show and you’ll get a gifset of my favorite outfit superlative meme: send me 📚 + a superlative (best smile, cutest couple, etc.) and you’ll get a gifset of who i think best fits the theme writing prompt: send me 🖋 + a prompt for a one-shot fic! can be as detailed as you want, as long as you include the ship, character, fandom, etc.
as for the follow forever part of this post, i suspect this might get a little long, so i’ll be putting it underneath the cut! but don’t worry, i love you all imensely and am so happy you’re here. i might get mushy, but hey, valentine’s is a good excuse right?
love fest aka follow forever is down below!
@togetherkru my darling stef! or as i call you in my head, my partner in crime clarke. first of all, i’m so thankful and lucky to have you over at @dailyclarkegriffin, i really had no idea what i was getting myself into and i really can’t thank you enough for the help! secondly, i honestly can’t imagine being in this community without someone as wonderful and positive and supportive as you. i’m sure i’ve said it before but you really are such a light in this community and i hope you know how much we appreciate you! a sunflower for a sunflower 🌻💛✨
@bellamyblake iva, i can’t express how grateful i am for the support you’ve given me from the start. whether it’s my own creations or bcso or just a chat now and then, you’ve always been around to support me and even offer me kind words when i wasn’t at my best, and i hope you know that truly means a lot to me! as someone who came back to the t100 fandom later on, it could feel a bit like being the new kid coming in during the middle of the semester, but your support has and continues to make me feel included 💙
@klarkegriffin lynn, obviously everything i said about dcg goes for you too, the love and support i got when opening the doors was so lovely and my little clarke partners are just two wonderful people honestly. on top of that, i wanna talk about what you’ve done in the community. i know you do a lot and keep up a steady flow of ways to keep the creativity in the community alive, and i hope you know that it is greatly appreciated. i don’t have to tell you that this fandom can be tough, but the projects you’re involved with have done so much! you’re a wonderful part of the community and i’m glad we have you 💞
@queen-of-the-wallflowers15 i don’t think we’ve actually talked here on tumblr! but it felt silly not to mention you when all the work you and lynn do has helped me and my writing process so tremendously. i honestly don’t know where the bellarke writing community would be if not for you two. bellarke hub has been an absolute godsend for me and my writing process, even when i feel like i’m in a total rut, seeing the prompts and the microfics and everything are really so inspiring and have helped me when i thought i couldn’t even write a single sentence. plus i love all the writing you do yourself! basically this is a big thank you 📚💜
@infp-with-all-the-feelings @carrieeve @spacebell @ninappon @igotbellarkeforthat @bookwormforalways @moreflowersthanweeds @pendragaryen @natassakar my sunflower kru! this is getting long even under the read more so i just wanna mention the bellarke gang that keeps this fandom alive and together, you’re all grand and thanks for including me even though i don’t always show up 😂💗 (sorry if i forgot anyone! i went by my mentions but just know i love and appreciate you all!)

“You’re absolutely positive you can’t come with me?” Y/N asked Matt.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. I work that day. Maybe you can ask Ty or Stefan or something.”
“Yep. Been there done that. Stefan has plans to hang out with Caroline and Tyler has another wedding to go to by some stupid twisted chance of fate. I hate June.”
“You can…well, I’m not even going to suggest that torture.” Matt said cutting himself off.
“What? Anything is better than the torture of my family trying to set me up with someone.”
“You could ask Damon, but then again, he’s literally the worst. I guess pick your poison. Damon Salvatore or wedding set up. Personally I’d go with the latter.”
Y/N patted Matt on the shoulder and sighed. “You don’t know my family.” She exited The Grill and reluctantly drove to the Salvatore Boarding House.
She knocked, and Damon immediately opened the door. “You know, I was wondering when the tension would catch up to you.” He smirked.
“That is not why I’m here, Damon. I need a favor.”
“What kind of favor?”
Y/N sighed and took a deep breath before starting her rant. “I need a date to my relatives wedding, and i’ve already asked literally everyone else i know, so i know you probably hate me, but please say yes. Otherwise they’ll try to set me up with someone, and they have awful taste.”
“And what do I get out of agreeing to this?”
“Um…I don’t know? The wedding is literally tomorrow and I have no other option so…I have no clue. Whatever you want.”
“Whatever I want, huh? I’ll let you know when I figure out what that is. What time does this wedding start tomorrow?”
“Wedding’s from 5:00 to 6:00 and the reception’s from 6:30 to 10:00, unfortunately, I have to help with setup, so I have to be there three hours early, it was almost five luckily I got out of that, but I’m not going to make you deal with that, so I’ll leave from there early, come pick you up around 4:30. Dress nice…but not too nice. You’re already going to outshine the groom. My cousin does not know how to pick em.”
“That was a very trivial way of you saying you think I’m attractive. I’ll be ready, and don’t think I’ll forget that you owe me.”
“I wasn’t saying that! And I didn’t think you would forget. Not even for a second. And one more thing, please don’t eat any of my relatives.”
“Oh I’m not that bad. Why would I eat one of them when I could eat you?” He said eying her from head to toe.
“Stop making everything sexual! I’ll see you tomorrow!” She exclaimed as she brushed her hair to cover her red face.
He watched her as she walked back to her car, because let’s be honest with ourselves, he loved to see her walk away, then he shut the door and poured himself a glass of bourbon.
“Did Y/N just ask you to her cousin’s wedding?” Stefan asked walking downstairs.
“Why yes she did, brother.”
“Then you’re welcome. I don’t actually have plans with Caroline tomorrow. I told her that so she’d ask you. Don’t screw it up.”
“Really Stefan? I could’ve gotten the girl on my own. I’ve had plenty of practice.”
“See? That’s what I’m talking about. Y/N is different. She likes you, but she doesn’t like you just because she wants to sleep with you. She likes you because she wants to be in a relationship with you. If you don’t want that, then don’t lead her on. Promise me you won’t lead her on.”
“Do you really think that low of me, Stef?” Damon asked placing his palm over his chest.
“I won’t hurt her. Believe it or not, I actually like her, and tomorrow I’m going to be a perfect angel around her family, and she’ll have no choice but to invite me to another family event. I will be the best fake boyfriend. Mark my words.”
The next day was absolute torture for Y/N to say the least. “Y/N, Mark and Angela have to be seated near the back. They have not earned the status of front and center. Move the cards.” Her cousin, Allison, was normally really sweet, but she was an extreme bridezilla.
Y/N rolled her eyes but did as she was told. She expected for Allison to follow her every order when her wedding came around.
“So, Auntie Bethany has invited a really cool guy to set you up with. His name is Reggie and he’s so much nicer than the last one.” Allison said taking a minute to rest, which did not bother Y/N one bit.
“First of all, I’m eighteen which is freshly out of high school, I don’t know why she thinks it’s so urgent for me to settle down. Second of all, mom is going to be real disappointed because I actually have a boyfriend now and I invited him. I mentioned him a few weeks ago to you.”
“Now that you say that, I remember you mentioning it.” Yeah, she didn’t say a word, but Allison bought it and that’s all that mattered. She’d been pushing her to get a date since the wedding was announced.
“Speaking of which, it’s 4:00 and I told him I’d be there to pick him up at 4:30. You don’t mind me leaving a bit early do you?”
“No. Of course not. Chloe, Lilly, and Amy will help me finish my makeup then I should be all ready! Can’t wait to meet this mysterious boyfriend of yours.”
Y/N waved at the other bridesmaids, who all glared back at her for leaving them alone, and got in her car to get Damon. She knocked.
“Just a minute!” She heard him call. He opened the door a couple minutes later.
She smiled brightly. “You look great.” She said.
“Yeah, and you look…gorgeous. Your cousin was very generous with the bridesmaids dresses.” Damon commented.

“Come on. If we’re late I will not hear the end of it.”
Once they arrived, there were literally like five minutes till the start of the wedding. “Shit.” She muttered. “Just sit down and avoid eye contact at all costs. I really wish she hadn’t made me a bridesmaid.” Y/N muttered the last part and got to her place.
The ceremony lasted forever. The only thing that made it tolerable was watching Damon mess with the dude sitting next to him.
“Oh my god. That was literally the longest wedding ever. Why the hell did she force us to wear heels?”
“On the bright side, you were definitely the hottest bridesmaid up there.”
She elbowed his side playfully. “Oh shut up. Now come on, we need to get going. If we’re late to the reception, my mom will kill me. I haven’t even got to talk to her yet.” Y/N to practically dragged Damon to the car.
Of course the reception was about as cliche as the ceremony. It was held in a big old barn decorated with fairy lights.
“There’s my mom. Come on, act coupley or whatever, and be on your best behavior would you?”
“Oh, Y/N I’m hurt. When am I not?” He wrapped an arm around her waist.
Y/N rolled her eyes, smiling slightly at his antics.
“Hey, mom.”
Her mother looked kind of upset. “Come on, Y/N. You should’ve told me you were bringing a date. Reggie is going to be disappointed.” Her mother motioned backwards towards a guy who was already making out with another bridesmaid.
“Yeah…that him? He doesn’t seem too upset. I wouldn’t worry about it. Mom, this is Damon, my boyfriend.”
They shook hands. “Hi, Mrs. Y/L/N. It’s great to finally meet you. I’ve heard so much, and can I just say, you look lovely this evening. Speaking of which, where’s the lucky man?”
“Oh, he’s just over there talking to the groom. I’m glad that Y/N has finally gotten a boyfriend. I was starting to think she was going to be single forever.”
“Mom, cool it, will you? I’m eighteen years old. I just enrolled in college. I’m not getting married anytime soon. I know that’s how people in our family usually do it, but I don’t want to be married and have three kids running around by the time I’m twenty five. Okay?”
“You may feel that way now, dear, but wait until the baby fever catches up to you.” Y/N rolled her eyes.
“I need a drink.” She mumbled with hostility.
“Y/N Y/M/N! You are not drinking any alcohol!” Her mother scolded after her.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she doesn’t get into too much trouble. You just have fun. Raising a girl with that attitude must have kept you away from fun quite a bit.” Bethany laughed.
“You have no idea.”
Damon followed Y/N to the open bar, and found her with a wine glass filled to the very top.
“Dude, first of all you aren’t even of age, and second of all, do you really want to get drunk at a relative’s wedding? Answer, no. No you don’t.”
“You don’t know what I want, Damon. Just go charm off the pants of another middle aged woman.”
“I’m trying to be a perfect fake boyfriend so your mom will get off your back. Did you already drink one of these?” He asked taking the glass from her hands and swirling it around.
“Yeah, duh. Did you meet my mom? She makes it her mission to control every aspect of her life. I love her, but some alchohol would really help me love her even more. Here gimme that.” She said grabbing the glass from his hand. She downed the whole thing in one go as if it was just a shot glass.
“Y/F/N! No! You are banned from this bar for the rest of the night. Come on.” He hoisted her over his shoulder.
“Damon...what are you doing? You’re supposed to be the least responsible one in this fake relationship.” She whined.
“No. I’m supposed to be like a real boyfriend which means I have to keep you out of trouble and do everything I can to make your parents like me which is what I’m doing.”
“Come on. Just let me walk. I won’t do anything stupid. I promise.”
“No.” Y/N huffed.
“Fine. If you want some douchebags looking up my dress then whatever.”
“Fine! Okay fine. I’ll put you down, but only because I’m your douchebag, and I don’t want anyone thinking otherwise.”
They ran back into Y/N’s parents.
“Did you get her away from the bar before she went psycho?” Mrs. Y/L/N asked.
“No. I took away the wine glass and she took it back and chugged it.” Damon said glaring at her.
“I’m fine. See?” She walked in a straight line.
“Oh come on Bethany. Lighten up. If you think she isn’t too young to get married then don’t you think in that mindset that she isn’t too young to drink alcohol.” Her father, Chris, said.
Y/N snapped and pointed at her dad. “Yeah. He’s totally right? Ready to admit that eighteen is too young for someone to get married?”
“Fine. It’s too young. Now no more drinks for the rest of the night, missy.”
She smiled triumphantly, but then she started sulking again. “Rest of the night? As in I have to stay here for the rest of the night and not drink anything?”
“Fine. You can leave like an hour early, but come talk to me before you leave. Have fun, but not too much fun.”
Y/N smirked. “I thought you wanted grandkids?” Her dad choked on his drink.
“Y/N!”
“Kidding. I’m obviously kidding…mostly. Bye!”
“You’re a lot of fun when you’re not avoiding being killed by some type of villain. I like you when you’re not in serious mode.”
“I’m so so sorry that I don’t have any witchy woo or an immortal life, but you do have to admit, I am amazing with a crossbow.”
“Yeah. Yeah. Sure you are. Even though you’ve almost hit me multiple times.”
“Exactly. I’m amazing with a crossbow. By the way, Allison wanted to meet you. We should get that over with.”
“Okay. That was uncalled for. You can’t just change the subject after admitting to trying to murder me multiple times.”
“You would have healed. What do you want me to do? Fall at your feet like Elena?” Y/N asked clearly passive aggressive.
“Woah. Woah. Woah. Stop walking for a second. Are you jealous of Elena?”
“What?! No. Why would I be? I don’t…I don’t even like you!”
“This wedding has proved that statement otherwise. Come on. Admit it. You. Are. Jealous. You want to get with all of this! You want to go for a ride on the Salvatore train!”
“No! No! No! I don’t! I don’t like you! I don’t want you! You... you infuriate me to no end!”
“But you like that don’t you? You like it when I get you all flustered. And don’t think I didn’t catch you blushing earlier when I called myself yours, given I said I was your douchebag, but you still blushed. Not to mention the fact that you put my hand back on your waist when we were walking back from the bar. You like me.”
“No I don’t! Everything that happened here was for show! It was for show.” She defended.
“The only reason you didn’t want to invite me to this wedding is because you knew that I would get your heart racing. Yeah. I can hear that.”
Y/N ran her hands over her face in frustration. “Oh. Don’t mess up your makeup. I can do that for you later.” Damon smirked. So what? His plan to be perfect didn’t last very long, but this plan seemed to be working just fine.
“Stop. Stop saying stuff like that.” She whisper shouted.
Damon leaned in. His mouth was only inches away from her ear. “Why? Does it…frustrate you?”
Y/N gave him a glare and crossed her arms, huffing. Damon smirked. She grabbed his wrist and took him outside.
Damon still had a smug look on his face. “You wanna know how you really make me feel? Yes, Damon! Yes you fucking frustrate me! You make me question my existence on a daily basis and sometimes I even wonder why me?! Why does he like me?! I’m no Elena. I’m not the perfect annoying ass girl next door, and I still don’t know the answer, but you know what?! Since you’re deciding to push me and push me until I explode, I love you, Damon Salvatore! I fucking love you!”
After seconds of tension filled silence and staring at each other, Damon smashed his lips against hers. She immediately kissed him back. She felt his hands gradually slide further down her back, until they were groping her ass. She pushed him away out of spite. “No.” She stated crossing her arms defiantly.
“Really? You’re going to be like this? Now?”
“Yes. Yes I am. Say it back and maybe I’ll be more lenient.” She sassed.
“I thought it was a given. I’ve literally been flirting with you and pining after you for months, Y/N. Of course I love you.”
“Was that so hard?” She joked. She leaned in to kiss him again, this time resting his hands on her butt. He squeezed her ass making her gasp, and slipped his tongue in her mouth.
“Woah. Woah. Woah. This isn’t your honeymoon Y/N.” Allison had walked out of her own reception looking for her.
“Oh, shit. Sorry Alli. So what’s up?” Y/N asked slightly out of breath.
“Well, I was promised that I could meet your mystery man, but you were nowhere to be found. I decided to look for you myself. Aunt Bethany was complaining about your grandkids joke earlier. I didn’t think you were serious.” She joked.
“So, this is Damon. Damon this is my cousin, Allison.”
“Nice to finally meet you. By the way Y/N, I connected the dots, and I realized after getting out of the point where I was completely freaking out, sorry about that by the way, that this is the same Damon that you literally used to call me just to complain about on the daily.”
“Hey, now. Let’s not bring that up, especially the things that I said…” Allison cut her off.
“She used to call me and talk about how annoying you were. I believe one time she called you a flaming douche nozzle? That sounds about right. Every single call always ended with her saying he is so infuriatingly attractive. It’s not even fair.” She knew she was embarrassing her cousin, and to be honest she loved it.
“Hey! He doesn’t need an ego boost! Trust me. I would know.”
“Okay. Okay. All jokes aside, if you are leaving, your mom and dad wanted to talk to you. Oh, and I won’t tell them about this little encounter. I know how they can be.” Allison winked and walked back in the building.
“Was it just me, or did we just get permission from the bride to leave? Come on we have got to hurry up and talk to my parents so we can get out of here.”
“What’s got you in such a rush to leave?” Damon winked.
“None of that. Stop. No. No. Bad.” She said pointing her finger at him.
“Relax. I won’t be myself, but only for you.” They walked back into the reception making a bee line to her parents.
“Hey mom, we’re about to head out.”
“Y/N, your lipstick is a little smudged.” Her mom said. Damon had to look away to stop himself from laughing.
“Huh. Is it? Must’ve been from where I got a drink. Anywho I love you guys and we will see you later.”
“Wait a second. Damon would you like to come over for dinner this Friday?”
“Of course. I’d love to Mrs. Y/L/N.”
“Great. We cannot wait to see you again. Alright. I won’t keep you. Have a nice night.” They both waved goodbye to her parents and headed back to the Salvatore house. They walked in, and Damon poured a couple of glasses of bourbon.
“I have been accepted by your family. I’d say this calls for celebration.”
“I thought I wasn’t allowed to drink, dad.”
“Oh shut up. You can do whatever the hell you want when your parents aren’t there to witness it.” Y/N rolled her eyes, and flopped on the couch.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m tired. I’m going to sleep no matter what you say.”
“Come on then.”
“Where?”
“If you’re going to sleep then you’re coming with me to a comfy bed, not the couch.” Instead of waiting for her to reapond or get up, he slug her over his shoulder and took her upstairs.
“Goodnight, Damon.” She said sleepily.
“Goodnight, sleeping beauty.”

“Are you ready for this?” Carina hears Andrea ask her.
She makes eye contact with him by looking in the mirror in front of her. She inhales deeply. “I don’t think I’ve ever been more ready for something in my life,” she says.
Andrea smiles, his dimples prominent. “Carina, you look beautiful,” he tells her.
She turns around and faces her little brother. “It’s not too much?” She asks.
Andrea laughs. “It’s your wedding day,” he reminds her. “You could walk down the aisle wearing a flamingo costume if you wanted to.”
Carina joins in on his laughter. “I don’t think Maya would appreciate that,” she says.
Andrea’s laughter dies down. “She’s a lucky woman,” he tells her.
Carina holds back tears because, God, she’s never been more in love with anyone. “I’m lucky,” she breathes out. “The luckiest.”
Andrea pats Carina on the shoulder. “You’re getting married,” he says softly.
Carina nods. “Did you ever think I would?” She asks him.
“Honestly? No,” he says, which gets him a chuckle from his big sister. “But I’m so glad you are. Carina, I’m so glad you’re happy.”
“Ti amo, fratellino,” Carina says, caressing Andrea’s face.
“Ti amo,” Andrea replies.
Just as Carina pulls Andrea in for a hug, he fades away and Carina’s eyes well with tears.
She turns back around and looks at herself in the mirror. She tries to pull it together, but the absence of her little brother haunts her. The pain and the emptiness in her chest torments her.
“Carina, we have an hour until-” Jo says as she walks into Carina’s bridal room. “Hey, are you okay?”
Carina tries to stop the tears, but the overflow of emotions is too much for her. “I miss my little brother,” she tells Jo.
Jo offers Carina a kind hand. “I’m sorry,” she says. “I know how much he’d want to be here.”
Carina breaks down and it’s all she can do to stay upright. “I…I want Maya,” she says.
“Okay, I’ll go get her,” Jo says before quickly leaving the room.
Carina sinks onto the chair by the mirror and rests her head in her hands.
“Va bene, Carina,” she hears Andrea say.
“Baby,” comes Maya’s voice as she walks into the room, “what’s going on?”
Carina looks at Maya, her makeup smeared. “I’m sorry, bambina. I know it’s bad luck for us to see each other in our outfits before the wedding and-”
Maya grabs Carina’s hands. “I don’t care about that,” she says, cutting Carina off. “What I care about is my crying wife.”
Through the tears, Carina smiles. “Soon-to-be,” she says.
Maya smiles and kisses the back of Carina’s hand. “What’s wrong?” She asks.
Carina takes a deep breath. “I miss Andrea,” she tells Maya.
Maya wipes a tear from Carina’s face. “What can I do?” She asks.
Carina shrugs. “I just wish he was here,” she says. “When we were kids, before mamma took him to the U.S., he was so protective of me. It was almost like he was the older sibling, you know?”
Maya nods and tucks a strand of Carina’s hair behind her ear.
“Anyway, whenever I would bring a girl or a boy home, he would have this stern look on his face. And then my heart would get broken, and he’d be there. He’d always tell me, ‘Carina, your broken heart is far from whole, but, one day, someone worthy will come along and put it back together, as if it was never broken in the first place’.” She blows out a breath. “And then he would say, ‘When that day comes, I cannot wait to walk you down the aisle and give you away to the person who will pick up your broken pieces for forever’.”
Maya smiles. “I wish I could’ve gotten to know him better,” she tells Carina.
Carina nods. “You guys would’ve been best friends,” she says. “He loved sports like you. He was caring like you, and he had a great taste in music like you.”
Maya kisses Carina’s forehead. “Are you okay?” She asks.
“Yes,” Carina says. “I just needed a moment to miss him.”
Maya let’s go of Carina’s hands and Carina stands up. “You look beautiful,” she breathes out.
Carina beams. “Go,” she says. “I have to get cleaned up and you,” she grabs Maya’s tie, “need to leave so I can do that.”
Maya smiles. “Of course, my love,” she says.
Carina melts and looks deeply into Maya’s eyes. She’s so happy Maya decided to wear her Class A’s for their wedding because she was definitely more than pulling it off. “See you soon, bella,” she says.
Maya winks at her. “See you, amore.”
Ben walks them both down the aisle and Maya holds back tears the entire time. She spots her mom and offers her a smile. Andy and Vic are stood in their Class A’s at the end of the aisle. Meredith, Jo, and Bailey are stood on the other side of Andy and Vic.
Once they are at the end of the aisle, Maya takes Carina’s hands and gives them a small squeeze.
Ben starts the ceremony once everyone is seated.
Carina sees Andrea standing behind Maya, giving her a thumbs up. There he was, giving her away after all.
“I understand you wrote your own vows,” Ben says.
Maya and Carina both nod.
“Maya, please say your vows,” Ben says.
Andy goes to hand Maya the paper with her vows on it, but Maya shakes her head. “I don’t need it,” she whispers before clearing her throat. “Carina, I stand here today to promise you the very best of me. You are not only the love of my life — you’re my best friend and the greatest part of me. I promise to fight for you when you’re feeling down and that my love for you will never weaken. I will take care of you for the rest of my days and love you for even longer than that.”
“Carina, please say your vows,” Ben says.
Carina didn’t write vows because she knew she’d find the words when she was looking Maya in the eyes. “Maya, I first fell in love with your eyes. It’s the way you look at me, the way you look at your friends, and the way your eyes light up when you’re talking about fighting fires. I found home in your eyes, in your arms, and in your heart. And I promise that you will always have a home in mine. Forever.”
Maya smiles. “Can I kiss her now?” She asks Ben.
Everyone laughs.
“Just one more step,” Ben says. “Maya, do you take Carina to be your lawfully wedded wife for forever?”
“I do,” Maya says.
“Carina, do you take Maya to be your lawfully wedded wife for forever?” Ben asks.
Carina nods. “I do,” she says.
“I now pronounce you wife and wife,” Ben says. He nudges Maya’s shoulder. “Go on, Captain, kiss her.”
Maya kisses Carina with all of her being and Carina reciprocates.
“Spero che ti renda felice per sempre,” Andrea says.
Carina pulls away from their kiss as the audience cheers. She hugs Maya. “Lei lo farà,” she whispers.
Andrea smiles. “Chao, Carina,” he says.
“Ciao, fratellino,” Carina whispers as Andrea fades away.
Maya grabs Carina’s hand as they walk up the aisle.
They are home, forever.
Hi, guys.
I’ve been working on a series that I might upload to Archive of Our Own. It follows the lives of Nicole Haught and Maya Bishop as best friends. Also, Nicole was fostered and adopted by Stef and Lena from The Fosters.
Let me know if that’s something you guys would be interested in.
I do not own any of these characters. They are used strictly for entertainment purposes.
Good day.

Tumblr media
“Stefan!” You exclaimed.
Stefan rolled his eyes. “I had him!”
“No, you didn’t!” You shouted. “God, why can’t you just let me do my job! Why do you have to be such a control freak.”
“Cause I’m the one who made the plan,” Stefan said.
“Yeah, and it was literal dog-shit. I was about to stake him!” You said, putting your hands up in the air in exasperation.
Stefan rolled his eyes. “You should be thankful. You would’ve been toast if I didn’t come in.”
You clenched your jaw. “I’ll make you into toast.” You went to lunge at him, but arms pulled your back quickly. You kicked your feet in the air, trying to get out of the hold that Damon had you in.
“Let me go! I need to kick his ass!” You exclaimed.
Stefan smirked, “You’re human, you wouldn’t last one second.”
“We’ll see about that,” you said, managing to rustle out of Damon’s grip.
“Stop it!” Caroline yelled. You looked at the blonde who had her fangs out, ready to get in between you and Stefan.
“He started it!” You straightened up, pointing at Stefan.
“No, she did!” Stefan exclaimed.
“You two are act like 5 year olds. Grow up. Y/n, you were about to die if Stefan hadn’t come in,” Caroline said.
You scoffed, turning to your friend. “Really, Care?”
“See, told you,” Stefan snickered.
“But,” Caroline started, looking to Stefan. “You should’ve trusted her. She's more than capable of handling herself.”
You smirked. “HA! In your face, Salvatore!”
Stefan rolled his eyes. “I just didn’t want you to get hurt. I can’t live without my best friend.”
You teasing smirk turned to a soft smile. “Aw, Stef, I always knew you cared about me.”
“Barely,” Stefan scoffed.
“Oh, sure,” you giggled, walking up to him. “You adore me.”
“Only in some aspects,” Stefan said. “Oh, yeah? What are those aspects?” You smiled.
“Like when you’re quiet,” Stefan smiled at you.
Ouch.
You frowned, “Wow, so nice.”
“Well, you asked,” Stefan shrugged.
“Hm, true. Alright well, I’m tired of getting my feelings hurts by a vampires so, I’m gonna go home,” you said, walking over to the door.
“No, Y/n! Stay for dinner!” Elena begged.  “Nah, I’m okay. I have ice cream at my house,” you shrugged.
“You sure?” Caroline asked.
“Yeah. See you guys tomorrow,” you smiled and waved before exiting the Salvatore’s house. You sighed and went to your car, going in and heading home. Once you got home, you put on your pjs and opened a pint of cookies and cream ice cream. You turned on Criminal Minds and cuddled up on the couch.
15 minutes into the episode, a knock on your door sounded. You paused the tv, getting up. You grabbed pepper spray and a knife you had hiding in a vase, going to the door hesitantly.
It’s 10:50 PM. Who is at my door?
You peaked through your window, relaxing immediately as you saw Stefan. You put your weapons on a nearby table, opening the door.
“Hey,” you smiled.
“Hi,” Stefan smiled back.
“What’re you, uh, doing here?” You asked. “I came bearing gifts. As an apology for being mean,” Stefan said, holding out a box of chocolates, a box of pizza, and some soda.
“And I should forgive you, why?” You asked.
“Because I’m your best friend and you love me?” He smiled.
You pursed your lips, putting your finger on your chin. “Hm, well, I do love chocolate and pizza and soda. I also kind of consider you as a friend, too, so... sure. I forgive you.”
Stefan smiled. “Awesome. Can I come in and hang out for a bit?”
“Sure,” you said, moving out of the way so he could step in. He stepped inside, slipping off his shoes and his leather jacket.
“Whatcha watching?” He asked, walking into the living room.
“Criminal Minds,” you said, walking in with him.
“Ah, nice. The show doesn’t scare you?” Stefan asked.
“Not when you’ve seen a vampire rip a person’s head off right in front of you,” you chuckled, taking your seat on the couch again. Stefan sat next to you, putting his arm on the top ledge of the couch.
“Right,” he chuckled.
You sat back into him, putting your head on his chest. Stefan put his arm around you, pulling you closer to him.
This was normal behaviour for you and him. You two had been best friends for the past 3 years since he came here. You two connected instantly. You were witty and teasing, which was something Stefan couldn’t help but be intrigued by and attracted to. After finding out he was a vampire, you two became closer. You learned all his secrets, everything about his childhood, and slowly fell in love with him. It was cliché, you knew, but it was true.
You had always been attracted to him, since day one. He was handsome, no doubt. He was also kind and dedicated to helping his friends and family, which was something you admired. You’re little crush on him stemmed from when he had saved you from Kol Mikaelson. Kol pushed you off the terrace after you tried to stake him, making you fall hundred of feet. You truly thought you were about to die, but Stefan Salvatore swooped in and saved you. From the moment he caught you in his arms, when you looked into his eyes, when your lips almost met, was the exact moment you knew you were starting to like him. The time you realized you were in love with him was when the teasing started.
You two had been friends for about a good year or so. You two had always had a playful relationship. You two made it that way because you two liked each other and it was easier to be mean to each other than admit your feelings, but you two didn’t know that about each other. Anyways, the moment you fell in love with him was when he was helping you cook for you and your friends. You were trying to have a nice night without all the crazy. Stefan and you were cutting some vegetables up when you sliced your finger. You expected him to go all crazy, but really, he helped you out. When he was cleaning up the cut and wrapping the bandage around your finger, there was a moment when both your eyes met and a little voice in your head that said, ‘he’s the one you love and are gonna marry’.
It had shocked you, at first, and there was a period of time where you shut him out because you couldn’t deal with your feelings. But you soon realized that you couldn’t live without your best friend and that if you weren’t gonna confess your feelings, you would at least keep him as a best friend. So, you two started to tease each other more and would bicker like an old married couple. Everyone seemed to notice your feelings for each other but you two. It was truly amazing, but you two seemed happy this way, so no one every really bothered you guys.
“Wow, that’s not gross at all,” Stefan said, commenting on what was happening in the show.
“Yeah. it’s kinda weird, but I’ve been watching this show for 10 seasons so, you know, I’m very used to it,” you shrugged.
Stefan smiled down at you, admiring how pretty you looked all natural, hair in a bun, and in your pjs. He liked how focused you were on the show, even though mutilated bodies were being shown on the screen, very very up close.
“I never would’ve pegged you for a criminal show type-of-girl,” Stefan said.
“I’m full of surprises,” you grinned.
“Yeah, I know,” Stefan smirked. You looked up at him, your eyes skimming his lips before gazing into his eyes.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You asked.
“Nothing,” he shrugged.
You started to yawn, putting your attention back on the tv.
“You should get some rest. You had a big day,” Stefan said.
“No, I wanna stay up and be a rebellious teen!” You exclaimed.
“You’re 18. You’re not a teen anymore,” Stefan chuckled.
You smiled, “True. But hey, you are! Aren’t you, like, 17?” You asked, looking back up at him.
“Yeah, but I’m also 165 years old,” he said.
“Haha, you’re still younger than me. I order you to go to your room and sleep. Oh, and you can’t talk back to me,” you giggled, teasing him.
Stefan rolled his eyes, “Ha-ha, you’re so funny.”
“Stefan Antonio Salvatore! Do not talk back to me!” You exclaimed, getting up from the couch. “Go to you room!”
Stefan stood up with you, towering over you. “How about I take you with me?”
You looked into his deep, green eyes. Your breath hitched, your heart racing to the point where you thought you were going to have a heart attack. Stefan took your hand in his, lighting your skin on fire. Heat rose up to your face, making you hide your face from his view so he didn’t see you blushing. But he put his other hand on your chin, lifting your face up and looking you in the eyes.
Your eyes went down slowly to his lips, subconsciously licking your own at the thought of kissing him. Your eyes went back up to his, noticing his eyes on your lips, too. Stefan’s arm snaked around your waist, pulling you in so your bodies touched. You felt the warmth radiating off of him, wanting to stay there forever. And as much as you wanted to kiss him, you knew you couldn’t. You knew he didn’t like you like that, and this was one of his ways of teasing you. So, you pulled away, turning away from his once more.
“You should, um, go. We’re both tired and stuff,” you said.
Stefan frowned, wishing you would follow along with him, but he didn’t try again. He didn’t want to force you into anything, especially since he wasn’t too sure about your feelings for him.
“Alright. I’ll go. I’ll see you later,” he said.
You nodded, not looking at him. “Bye.”
You heard the door open, hearing Stefan mutter a ‘goodbye’. Once the door closed, you started to cry. Tears that were forming in your eyes fell, coming down like a waterfall. You put your fist in your mouth, trying to drown out the sound of your cries, not wanting to wake your mom. You went to your room, curling up on your bed and hugging your pillow.
I wish I would’ve kissed him.
————
You walked in Elena’s house, your mouth watering at the smell of bacon and eggs.
“Hm, who’s cooking?” You asked.
“Me,” Stefan smiled once you came around the corner.
“Oh, great,” you said.  “Aw, come on, I apologized to you last night. Be nice,” Stefan said.
“Being nice to do is the last thing on my to-do list,” you snorted. “Give me some eggs and bacon?” “Nope. Say sorry,” Stefan said.
You rolled your eyes, walking over to Stefan and the stove. “In your dreams. Now, give me food, Stuffy,” you smiled, using a nickname you had made up for him.
“Not a chance, Y/n/n,” Stefan smirked.
You sighed and tried to grab the plate of bacon that was in his hand, but he held it up in the air. You huffed, jumping up and trying to get the plate from him.
“Stefan, I’m hungry! I didn’t have an actual dinner last night. Please,” you begged, jumping up, barely touching the plate.
Stefan put the plate down to your reach. You smiled, “See, I knew you couldn’t resist me.”
Right as you were about to grab the bacon, Stefan swiftly put the plate down, taking both your wrists in his hands. You fought against him, a big smile on your face.
Caroline, Elena, and Alaric scoffed in the living room.
“Are they ever gonna get together?” Alaric asked.
“Sometimes it seems like it,” Caroline says. “And sometimes it doesn’t,” Elena sighed.
“Why? They’re like, perfect for each other,” Alaric said, smiling a little when seeing Stefan scoop you in, spinning you around.
“They’re so oblivious to each other’s love, it’s annoying,” Elena said.
“And weirdly movie-like,” Caroline said. She sighed, looking at the two of you longingly. “I want what they have.”
“More like lack there of,” Alaric snickered.
Elena hit his shoulder, going over to the kitchen.  “Okay, love birds, let’s eat. I’m starving,” Elena said.
Stefan let you go, your feet landing on the ground.
“So you’ll listen to Elena and not me?” You asked.
“Hm... yep,” Stefan smiled sweetly.
“Rude,” you remarked, making your way to the kitchen table.
Stefan brought over the food and you dug in. You all talked about a new plan to take out Klaus, which led to you needing to go back to your house to get some vampire-hunting supplies.
“Mind if I go with you? Might be some heavy lifting I’ll need to do,” Stefan said.
You rolled your eyes, “I’m strong enough, but sure. I could use someone to make it less boring.” You got up, putting on your shoes and jacket.
“See you later, guys,” you smiled and waved to the rest of your friends.
They waved back at you and Stefan followed you out to your car.
“So, what’s the reason you wanted to go with me?” You asked, getting in your car.
“I don’t know,” he shrugged. “I’m bored.”
You snorted, shaking your head. “Okay, yeah, what’s the real reason.”
“I um... I wanted to talk about last night,” Stefan said.
“Alright, but nothing happened. We did our little friendly-cuddle, you got all up in my personal space, and then you left and I went to bed,” you said.
Stefan shook his head, “No, Y/n. That’s not what happened.”
You parked your car in your driveway, getting out and going into your house.
“Then what happened, Stefan. Tell me,” you said, walking into your room and going into your closet.
“Well, we did do our cuddle thing, but it definitely wasn’t friendly. We also almost kissed,” Stefan said, following you.
“Sure, Stefan. You have a funny imagination, you know,” you said, getting out your box of weaponry.
“We did, Y/n. Stop being in denial. I also know that you cried after I left,” he said.
You looked up at him, scoffing and moving past him.
He just wants to get under my skin.
“Y/n, this isn’t one of the times where you can just walk away and we forget about it. I’m serious,” Stefan said.
Shit.
“How do you know I cried?” You asked.
“I... I heard you using my super-hearing through the door,” Stefan admitted.
You shook your head, “Stalker.”
Stefan went up behind you, grabbing your forearm, causing the box you had to drop on the floor. He turned you to him, looking deep and hard into your eyes.
“Let me go, Stefan,” you muttered through a clenched jaw.
“No. Why won’t you talk to me about this?” He asked.
“Be-Because I don’t want to. I have a right to not want to do anything, you know. Let me go!” You exclaimed, fighting against him.
Stefan shook his head. “No. I want to know why you pulled away. We had a moment, Y/n, and we’ve always been having moments since we met. I... I don’t know if you are in love with me, like I am with you, but I felt something last night. I know you did, too. I saw in your eyes and I know that you were crying because you pulled away and you were upset. So, Y/n, why’d you pull away?”
You looked up at him helplessly. “I... I pulled away because I was scared.”
“Scared of what?” Stefan asked softly.
“Scared of what would happen. I didn’t know if you loved me back. I was scared that if I kissed you, that I would lose our friendship. And as much as I wanted to kiss you, I can’t risk losing you,” you confessed.
Stefan’s hands let go of your wrists, going over to your waist. He pulled you closer, your bodies touching once again. Your heart beat against your ribcage, making you more nervous than ever. You looked up at him, leaning in closer.
“You’re in love with me?” You asked.
“Yeah. Probably since we became friends,” Stefan said.
“Me, too,” you smiled.
“I figured after last night,” Stefan smiled.
You chuckled, “Yeah.”
“So, are you gonna pull away now?” Stefan asked. He put his hand on your cheek, his hand staying on the small of your back. He looked into your eyes, waiting for your answer.
You shook your head with a smile. “No, not this time.”

(definitely almost sent an avocado emoji 🤣😂🤣. It’s been a day, can’t tell my fruit emojis apart lol.)
Haha me: is allergic to kiwi and hates avocado... PERSONAL ATTACK. It feels super fitting to go with these two folks with you being the one to send in the message. They're probably the first two people I followed/knew of in the LS fandom when I first moseyed on over:
@howtosingit Brian does SO MUCH for this fandom. I am forever in his debt for the Rafa blog aka my lifeline on this site. A++ tags when it comes to most things but especially Rafa content. He gets it. I love his love for that man bc hard same. I really like reading his thoughts about the show as a whole too. In my head, I really associate Brian with my first foray into this fandom. I was SUPER nervous to write because there were so many wonderful writers (Brian among them) that I wasn't so sure if I should even post. But I did! And he was, I think literally, the first person to leave a comment on my first fic. It's such a small thing that had a big impact on my confidence in posting stories so, thanks for that 💕
@bellakitse another day one. Stef is one of my favorite writers. I love going back on her page and rereading stuff and getting yelled at by ao3 that I already left kudos, like okay and?? the stories are amazing, I want to continue showing more love! I just love her writing so much, my goodness. It was a good day when I decided to get back into the world of fic/writing. I'm glad to have come across her stuff. Stef is so chill and cool. There's just something about her vibe that I like a ton and it totally reflects in the things she writes and shares on here. We have other fandoms in common too which is pretty neat. I appreciate each and every Stucky reblog that graces my dash because of her.
for every 🥝 i get, i’ll recommend a blog i love

LOVE IS A DANGEROUS THING
Part 4
Tumblr media
Part 5
The sun flickering in your face made you open your eyes, your head was resting on his chest, you smiled recollecting last night's happenings. You tried to get up gently, not to wake him up.
"Good morning, love," he said in a sleepy voice as he wrapped his arms around you pulling you back to him.
"Good morning" you smiled
"Going somewhere?" He tightened his grip around your waist, holding your bare chest to his
You smirked as you looked at his lips "Yeah, I was about to get up"
"It's too early, mind if we stay here all day?" he said as he ran his hand down your spine
You put your finger on his lips and kissed him
"You're beautiful, you know that?" He whispered as you pulled away
"Stop distracting me" you teased him as you got up with just a towel around you
"Dinner tonight ?" He raised his eyebrows looking at you up and down
"Pick me up" you answered while trying to put your dress back on
***
You met Caroline and Bonnie for lunch at the Mystic Grill
"I did something" you bit your lip
"Other than disappearing last night, what?" Caroline giggled
"I had the best night of my life" you smiled rethinking those moments "I was with..."
"With who?" Bonnie asked impatiently
"with Klaus"
"You didn't!" Caroline put her hand on her mouth shocked
"Y/N girl..." Bonnie looked at you smirking
"I know, it was amazing!!" you laughed "I will tell you the details after, I gotta sort some stuff out"
"With Stefan?" Bonnie looked at you
"Yeah, I can't pretend I don't have any feelings for Klaus while being all complicated with Stefan" you ran your hand through your hair "I don't want to end up hurting anyone"
"Whatever you choose, I'm sure Stefan will understand" Caroline smiled
"And we will support you no matter what"
***
You decided to go to the Salvatore's house, you weren't sure what you were going to tell Stefan but you were hoping to find him there. Then figure out what to tell him...
"Oh hey it's the cheating backstabbing bitch" Damon said as he opened the door
"Hey, it's the narcissistic selfish brother" you rolled your eyes "I need to talk to Stefan
"I'm sure he doesn't want to, he heard you had fun last night" he tried to close the door
"That's none of your business, besides how do YOU know?" You opened the door again, entering in with no invitation "Nice"
"Come on, it's Mystic Falls, news spread quickly out here" he followed you at the hallway as you speed up to the living room
"Y/n..." Stefan was standing with a glass of bourbon in his hand
"Stefan, hey" you approached him slowly "Can we talk?"
"Sure" he smiled as he signaled Damon to leave you two alone
"Don't forgive a cheater, Stef" he shouted as he left you two alone
"Don't mind Damon, so what did you want to talk about?" He lead you to sit down
"Everything, " you looked down "look at us where we at now..." you smiled
"And that was all my... fault" he looked at you "I'm sorry, I put you through this"
"No, I did it all because... because I loved you Stefan, and the thought of you hurting me while your humanity was on, was it true Stefan?" You said with a downhearted tone, waiting for a response
"I... I knew Klaus would heal you" he replied
"And you knew Katherine would kill me?"
"No, no ...no" he put his hand on yours "I've never wanted this for you"
"Well here we are, and no matter what happened, don't say that, I don't blame any of this on you even if you left me when I most needed" you quickly pulled your hand out of his
He just looked at you
"I'm sorry Stefan, you will always be a part of me but I can't be what you need me to," you sniffed trying to hold back your tears
"I know it wasn't supposed to end like this Y/n, but I want you to be happy, and happiness is the only thing I couldn't bring you"
"No..."
"You'll always be a part of me too Y/n, and I want what's best for you which is obviously not me" he smiled through his teary eyes
"Stefan I-..."
"It's okay, I'm letting go for both of us, be with that person that makes you the happiest you deserve it" he caressed your cheek, before getting up to leave the room
***
"I never believed that you could love one person so deeply in an instant, but one day, there comes that person, the one that you could least imagine you could fall for, it makes you doubt yourself, your morals and your being... Klaus Mikaelson, the man that I fell in love madly with, the man that I call family and I'm willing to spend all my eternity with. Never in a million would I've guessed that I'd find such great happiness and love in one person but here I am, I love him without knowing how or when it happened, I love him simply without a problem or pretension. Is this the love that books are written for? Is this the love that beautiful songs are sung for? Is this the most beautiful dangerous thing? Whatever that it is, I hope it lasts forever with him by my side."
You closed your journal, leaving it on your desk as you stared at the beautiful engagement ring which Klaus proposed to you "You're the best thing that ever happened to me Klaus" you whispered knowing that no measure of time will be long enough for you two, starting with 'Always and Forever.'

Never, Ever (Wedding Edition)
Tumblr media
PART ONE PART TWO PART THREE
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x Reader
Desc.: You and Klaus say your ‘I do’s 💕
Notes: surprise 🤪 bet you thought you’d seen the last of my most chaotic series 😌✨
You stared into the mirror as your bridesmaids crowded around you— Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie... and your newest edition, Rebekah.
Caroline was fussing with your makeup as Elena stood in the corner playing a game of “you hang up, no you hang up” with Damon.
“Will you stop, Caroline?” Rebekah asked. “She looks perfect.”
Caroline sighed. “I know, I just...”
“Since when is it the maid of honor with pre-wedding jitters?” you asked, a smile on your lips.
“I’m just glad it’s not you with them,” Caroline replied, sitting next to you.
You laughed. “I am... eerily calm.”
“Eerie is right,” Rebekah chuckled. “I still can’t believe you’re marrying my brother— you’re much too pretty for him.”
In the years since your first wedding, life had changed quite a bit.
You and Rebekah had rekindled your friendship, for one. Damon, having wedding-fever after Klaus popped the question, proposed to Elena a week before your wedding. And then, of course, there was Caroline and Stefan, who had been going on two years now.
You and Klaus were closer than ever, and there was nobody you’d rather be with today.
Your smile couldn’t be wiped from your face.
After you were finally ready, the bridesmaids left. But the doors opened soon after, and none other than Stefan strolled in.
You turned and sighed. “Stef.”
He grinned and hugged you. “(Y/N).”
You were the first to pull away, holding him at arms’ length. “I’m glad you came.”
His eyes glittered. “Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
You smiled, but Stefan could tell there was something wrong.
“What is it?” he asked.
You sighed. “I’m just sorry.”
Stefan laughed. “For walking out on me at our wedding?”
Your face began to heat up and you hanged your head in shame. “Yes. I don’t regret it, I just feel bad about how it happened.”
Stefan smiled. “(Y/N), you leaving is probably the best thing that ever happened to both of us. You and Klaus have always been soulmates, and... I don’t know what I’d do without Caroline.”
You grinned. “So... when’s that wedding?”
He blushed. “You’re relentless.”
“I’m just happy for you, Stef,” you said. “You’ll make a good husband. One day.”
“And you’ll make a good wife,” Stefan replied. “Today.”
Your heart fluttered, butterflies overtaking you. Yes. You were getting married today, to the love of your life— Klaus Mikaelson.
Stefan left you, and finally Alaric came in. You’d asked him to walk you down the aisle again. Elijah had offered, but the both of you knew that he belonged right next to Klaus.
“You ready?” Alaric asked you, a small smile on his face.
You nodded excitedly.
He laughed. “Can’t say I agree with your choice in groom, but... I hope you two will be happy.”
“We will,” you said.
Caroline poked her head in. “Music’s starting.”
“Don’t let me fall,” you muttered to Alaric.
“Wasn’t planning on it. Also, (Y/N), don’t make me walk you down the aisle a third time— my good shoes are wearing down.”
You laughed, and you and Alaric walked out of the dressing room and down a little hallway. You stopped for a moment, your heart thumping in your chest.
There was a moment of dead silence. In that moment, you listened for Klaus’s heartbeat. Like a rhythmic drum beating to the same pace as your own.
And the doors opened.
Your loved ones turned to you, with smiling faces. But the only one you cared about was Klaus.
Klaus stood at the altar with a smile on his face, that same eternal smile that you’d love forever.
You couldn’t get down that aisle fast enough.
Time flew fast for you and Klaus— time meant almost nothing when you had all of it— but this was the slowest it had ever gone, as you walked down the long aisle longing to be beside him.
But finally, after what seemed like another hundred years, you got there.
Damon, who you’d begged to get a license to officiate the wedding, grinned. “Dearly beloved...”
He glanced to Kol, who had somehow gotten to be a groomsman.
“And hated.”
Kol glared at him.
“We are gathered here today for the wedding we’ve all been waiting for... (Y/N) and Klaus. I’ve known these two for a few years, but apparently they’ve known each other for a century before that.” He shrugged. “Who knows? Anyway-“
You giggled, and Klaus’s eyes lit up.
Damon continued. “These two are sickeningly in love.” He paused for a moment. “Now, I hate to ask, but does anybody have any objections to this union? Speak now or forever hold your peace.”
From the front row, Stefan cleared his throat. Both you and Klaus tensed. Damon whispered under his breath, “here we go again.”
Stefan’s eyes widened. “Oh, my God, no. I just had a tickle in my throat. Um, proceed, Damon.”
You laughed nervously and looked up to Klaus, who looked relieved.
Finally, Damon got to the vows. “Do you, (Y/N)(L/N), take Niklaus Mikaelson as your lawfully wedded husband, as long as... well, forever?”
“I do,” you said, a tightness coming to your throat.
Damon smiled. “And do you, Niklaus Mikaelson, take (Y/N)(L/N) as your lawfully wedded wife, forever?”
Klaus grinned. “I do.”
Damon smiled. “You may kiss the bride!”
Klaus grabbed your face gently and kissed you. The crowd cheered— Elijah and Damon especially— and neither of you could resist smiling into the kiss.
Finally, he pulled away, grinning. “No going back now, love.”
“Never, ever,” you whispered.
“I now pronounce to you, Mr. and Mrs. Klaus Mikaelson!” Damon cheered loudly into your ear. The crowd erupted in more cheering.
You grabbed Klaus’s hand and started running down the aisle.
He followed. “Where are we going?”
“How does Chicago sound?” you laughed.
“Chicago it is,” he replied.
You made a decision a lifetime ago— the decision to love Klaus Mikaelson.
No matter how many times you and Klaus fought, or how many times you still felt the pain of him leaving the first time, or how many years you’d been separated...
You could never bring yourself to regret your decision.
Never, ever.

The Goonies: The Story
So, considering that this is a charming children’s adventure movie about a bunch of kids trying to save their town, opening up with a jailbreak is kind of an unusual move, but I’ll say this: at least it gets your attention.
Tumblr media
The movie starts outside a prison, where one of the inmates, Jake Fratelli, (Robert Davi) has faked his own suicide, tricking the guard in order to knock him out and make a break for it.  Outside, his brother Francis (Joe Pantoliano) and his mother (Anne Ramsey) are ready with the getaway car.  Jake gets in, and Mama Fratelli peels out.  The cops give chase, and the Fratellis zoom through the town of Astoria, Oregon to evade them, passing:
Andy Carmichael (Kerri Green), a cheerleader practicing on a football field…
Clark “Mouth” Devereaux (Corey Feldman) watching a car chase on television while helping his father fix a sink…
Stefanie “Stef” Steinbrenner (Martha Plimpton), washing her hair in a barrel on the pier…
Richard “Data” Wang (Ke Huy Quan), testing out his latest invention…
And finally, Lawrence “Chunk” Cohen (Jeff Cohen), enjoying a slice of pizza and a milkshake, and immediately becoming enthralled by the car-chase.
The Fratellis lose the police and get away, scot free, as the camera pans away, cutting to a big white house, in which Michael “Mikey” Walsh (Sean Astin), complains that nothing ever happens around here, making himself feel better about the sad fact that his family is moving away from Astoria.  His brother, Brandon “Brand” Walsh (Josh Brolin) continues exercising, admitting that he knows how Mikey feels.
Tumblr media
A knock at the door brings the boys downstairs, opening the door to Mouth, who immediately begins bemoaning that they’re not doing anything on “their last weekend together…last Goonie weekend”.  Following him is Chunk, who begins describing the police chase to the others, but, as he has a history of telling tall tales, the others don’t buy it.  Meanwhile, Data zip-lines into the house from next door, and just like that, the gang’s all here.
This is all within the first ten minutes of the movie.
Tumblr media
I usually wait until we’re further along in the film to stop our summary, but I want to point out some of the really interesting things that happened right away, setting up almost everything about to come:
First, that opening.  I pointed out how unusual it is to start off a kid’s adventure movie with a jailbreak and a police chase, but, besides setting up the Fratellis for later, it also served as a great brief introduction to a ton of characters, whose personalities we’re beginning to see fleshed out here: Data as the Gadgeteer, Chunk as the excitable boy who cried wolf, and Mouth as a kid who’s not quite as cool as he wants to pretend he is.  We know all of this, got all of these characters here, found out about their houses being foreclosed on: and the movie has just started.
This is an excellent example of pacing, keeping the audience engaged without wasting any time, but furthermore, it’s also a master-class in introducing characters without it getting confusing: each kid, as he appears, brings with him the brief flash of recognition: we’ve seen him before, and we know something about them in order to help them stick.  It’s a genius tactic, and the film reaps the rewards of it throughout the entire rest of the film.
As the boys bemoan their houses being foreclosed on and their inevitable move, Mrs. Walsh comes home with a new housekeeper, Rosalita, who doesn’t speak a word of English.  Thankfully (or not) Mouth does, and proceeds to abuse his skill ‘translating’ Mrs. Walsh for the sake of comedy.  This is a throwaway joke, yes, but it is important that he knows Spanish.  Keep it in mind.
Tumblr media
Mrs. Walsh and Rosalita depart again to do some shopping before the move, and Mrs. Walsh instructs Brand to not let Mikey outside because of his asthma.
The instant Mrs. Walsh leaves, the boys stampede up into the attic, apparently undeterred by the veto of any outdoor activities.  It turns out that Mr. Walsh is the curator of the Astoria museum, and as a result, there’s all kinds of old odds and ends cluttering up the Walsh attic, some items that the Goonies think are pretty cool: pirate hats, steering wheels of old ships, swords, clothes, and other stuff.  During the exploration of the attic, Mikey stumbles upon an old picture frame, inside which appears to be a treasure map.  Handing the frame to Chunk (and waiting the few seconds for him to inevitably drop and break it), Mikey pulls out the parchment: the treasure map of One-Eyed Willy.
Tumblr media
One-Eyed Willy, as it turns out, is a topic that Mikey happens to be an expert on.
Mikey tells the others the legend of One-Eyed Willy, a pirate who sailed his ship into Astoria, on the run from the Spanish Armada, where he, and his treasure, remained buried after he killed his entire crew and set up a series of traps in order to protect the treasure forever.  While Mikey is telling them this story, the boys stumble upon something else: a newspaper article about a man named Chester Copperpot, who claimed to ‘have the key to One Eyed Willy’, right before he disappeared.
Before there can be much discussion on what this means, the doorbell rings, and after pocketing a doubloon that had been hidden in the same frame as the treasure map, Mikey and company go downstairs to answer the door.
Tumblr media
At the door are two men with foreclosure papers, who drop them off for Brand to give to their father to sign before leaving, already remarking about the buildings about to go in over the Goonies’ houses.
Back inside, Mikey bemoans the fact that One-Eyed Willy’s treasure would sure be helpful in paying to keep their houses, but Brand’s not having any of it.  He can’t afford to let Mikey run loose, he’d get grounded, not with his date with Andy (the cheerleader from before) coming up, which he can’t drive to because he failed his license test.
The Goonies, undeterred, jump Brand and tie him to his chair with his own exercise equipment and make a run for it, while Mouth lets the air out of Brand’s bike tires so he can’t follow them.
Tumblr media
Some time later, Mrs. Walsh and Rosalita return to free Brand, but it’s too late: Mikey and Company are already well on their way to another Goonie adventure.  Brand eventually frees himself and steals Data’s sister’s tiny pink bike to go after them.  In the process, he runs into Troy, the son of one of the guys who’s foreclosing on them, with Andy and Stef.  After a dangerous moment involving Troy’s establishing character moment (running Brand off the road), Brand manages to get away and continues searching for the boys.
Meanwhile, the Goonies use the map to figure out that it’s guiding them to the coast, where Mikey holds up the doubloon, finding that it’s markings (Three holes) match a trio of landmarks, concluding that they must be in the right place.  Mouth translates the map, and the boys follow it up to an old abandoned summer restaurant.
Tumblr media
As they approach it, they see two men in trenchcoats enter.  Assuming this means the place must be open after all, the boys follow, continuing to count paces until they hear two gunshots.  After convincing themselves that it was probably nothing and certainly wasn’t gunshots, they approach the window and peek through.  Meanwhile, Chunk has spotted the car parked in the garage and recognizes it from the police chase he saw that morning: riddled with bullet holes.  Realizing the danger that they’re in, Chunk starts trying to convince the others to make a run for it, but the others, knowing what Chunk is like, ignore him and drag him into the restaurant.
The Fratellis make a show of being actual employees of the restaurant (aside from Mama Fratelli threatening to cut Mouth’s tongue off, which, to be honest, he had coming), before Mikey manages to get away to look around.  While wandering around the basement, Mikey pulls the map out and tries to figure out what to do next.  His train of thought is interrupted by a loud roaring sound: going over to one of the rooms, he sees Jake Fratelli singing to…something, chained to a chair.
Tumblr media
Mikey, understandably frightened, freaks and runs back upstairs, where he runs into Brand, who’s finally caught up with him.  He and the rest of the Goonies are promptly kicked out by Mama Fratelli, and outside, the boys try to convince Brand to let them stay and explore.  From a safe distance, the Goonies watch the Fratellis carry something out in a bag (a body-sized bag), and Chunk again tries to convince the gang to go home.
“Mikey, Mikey, come on, our parents are worried. It’s dinnertime. Why don’t we go home?”
“Home? What home? In a couple more hours, it ain’t gonna be home anymore. Come on, guys, this is our time. Our last chance to see if there really is any rich stuff. We’ve got to.”
Tumblr media
After Mikey’s compelling speech, Stef and Andy jump out of nowhere to scare them, and just like that, the gang’s all here.
With the Fratellis gone, the Goonies head back inside the restaurant to look around, with Andy convincing Brand to let them stay so they can spend more time together.  Mikey tells the others about the ‘It’ he found in the basement, and he leads the Goonies down to get a look at it.  They take one look and, scared off, the kids close the door on the ‘monster’ and rush off to another corner of the basement, where they discover a secret tunnel under the fireplace.  While they’re there, Data discovers a counterfeit money machine, and Stef finds a newspaper that includes the names and pictures of the Fratellis.  The boys recognize them, and for the first time, get an idea of exactly how dangerous the situation is.
Tumblr media
Chunk, feeling vindicated, berates the group for not believing him, before he’s interrupted by the smell of ice cream.  Following his nose to the freezer, Chunk discovers a stash of ice cream: and also a body.  This, combined with the sounds of the Fratellis arriving upstairs, send the kids into a bonafide panic.  They shove the corpse back into the freezer (and Chunk too), and hide in the tunnel under the fireplace.
The Fratellis come down into the basement and notice a water-cooler that Chunk had broken.  Thankfully, they think it must be the creature they had chained up, and go to investigate, giving Chunk the chance to get out of the freezer and go for the police, while the rest of the kids head into the tunnels.
Tumblr media
Chunk manages to get out of the restaurant and out to the main road, where he flags down an approaching car, spewing everything he knows about the Fratellis: only to discover that, of course, the car is being driven by the Fratellis.  They throw him in the back with a stiff (the same one from the freezer), and immediately turn the car around, heading back to the restaurant.  Once there, the Fratellis begin to interrogate Chunk, with the handy assistance of a blender for incentive.  Being told to spill his guts, he immediately breaks down crying and tells them that the Goonies went down into the fireplace, but the Fratellis don’t believe him.  After threatening him again, Chunk, not made of the strongest stuff, immediately tells the Fratellis every bad thing he’s ever done.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Andy, apparently unable to take the strain, has a minor breakdown after finding a human skeleton crushed underneath what appears to be a booby trap.  After searching his wallet, the group discovers that it’s the body of Chester Copperpot: the man who said that he had the key to One-Eyed Willy.  Approximately half of the group dissolve into hysterics: if an ‘expert’ like Chester Copperpot couldn’t survive, what are the odds of a handful of kids making it?
Mikey, undeterred, takes from Copperpot’s possessions a handful of candles (dynamite) and a skull-shaped key.  Data, in order to make sure nobody follows them, heads to the rear to set up booby traps to make sure they aren’t followed without them knowing.  Mikey accidentally sets off one of the booby traps already set by the pirate crew, and the Goonies, in what has to be the one-hundredth near-miss of the day, escape just in time.  While they catch their breath, Brand accidentally startles a nest full of (fake looking) bats, which fly past them, and explode out of the fireplace in the room where Chunk is being interrogated.
Tumblr media
Realizing that Chunk was telling the truth, the Fratellis tie him up and leave him in a room with the It, and head down into the tunnels after the Goonies, and, more importantly, the treasure, which Chunk also told them about.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Goonies continue through the tunnels into a cave with a waterfall, where the ground is covered in coins.  At first, the kids are elated, thinking they’ve found the treasure, but it turns out they’re underneath a wishing well, and the coins are just loose change thrown in over the years.  Aboveground, Troy and his friends, who are hanging out by the wishing well, discover that Andy herself is down there, as well as the rest of the Goonies.  The Goonies persuade him to help them up via the wishing well bucket, but as they begin to make their ascent, Mikey stops them, saying that they’ve already gotten further than Chester Copperpot.
Tumblr media
“Don’t you realize? The next time you see sky, it’ll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it’ll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the bestest stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what’s right for them. Because it’s their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it’s our time. It’s our time down here. That’s all over the second we ride up Troy’s bucket.”
The Goonies decide to press onward, and send up in the bucket Andy’s jacket instead, officially branding her a Goonie.
Meanwhile, Chunk discovers the It in the room he’s trapped with: Sloth, the Fratellis’ deformed brother.  After another screaming fit, Chunk manages to throw Sloth a candy bar, a Baby Ruth that he’s had with him.  In order to reach it, Sloth tears the chains binding him right out of the walls, freeing him, and then Chunk.  Now released, Chunk goes to place a call to the police station to try to let them know what’s going on, but just like earlier on, Chunk’s stories have given him a reputation, and the cops don’t believe him.  Chunk’s connection is lost, and after Sloth begins lowering himself into the fireplace to go after his family, Chunk, unwilling to abandon his new friend, follows suit.
Tumblr media
In the tunnels, Mikey, Mouth and Data take another look at the map and the key that Mikey found, trying to figure out what to do next.  Mouth’s translation of the words on the map lead Mikey to spot a series of rocks protruding from the tunnel.  He fits the key to them, and turns it, setting off yet another booby trap.  Data falls through a trap door that opens underneath him, only saved by his ‘Pinchers of Peril’.  Dangling through the trap door, Data spots a new opening in the tunnel.
Once the Goonies safely move down into the tunnel, they take a break from adventuring (a break that is mostly important because Andy tries to score a first kiss with Brand.  In what is the best example for why you should always do it with your eyes open, she gets Mikey instead, without realizing), which is cut short by the Fratellis, who have caught up.  Now in an outright chase, the Goonies book it across a log that is suspended over a stream.  Data leaves behind an oil slick from his ‘Slick Shoes’, which stalls the Fratellis while the group presses onwards into another room with a skeleton organ.
Tumblr media
The group flips the map over to discover that there are musical notes written on the map, and luckily, Andy has taken piano lessons, though she’s a little rusty.  Although she makes a few mistakes, causing the floor to start to crumble away, she manages to play it well enough to open the passage at the end of the room.  The Goonies tumble through and land in a giant waterslide which drops them into a lagoon where there waits the pirate ship of One-Eyed Willy.  The Goonies climb aboard and explore, uncovering one or two more booby traps, and finally, a secret room where the skeleton of One-Eyed Willy sits at a table, surrounded by tons of gold and jewels.  Mikey shares a moment with Willy alone, dubbing Willy the first Goonie:
“Hi Willie. I’m Mike Walsh. You’ve been expecting me, haven’t you? Well I made it. I beat you. I got here in one piece… so far.”
Tumblr media
The crew starts loading up from everywhere except a scale, loaded with treasure at the center of the table, which Mikey tells everyone not to take from.  That, he says, belongs to Willy.
Just as the kids finish stuffing their pockets, shirts, (in Mouth’s case, his mouth) and marble bags, the Fratellis enter, armed and dangerous, and force the kids onto the deck.  Data, proclaiming that he won’t be taken alive, tries to fight them off with his gadgets, but ultimately, the kids are forced to turn out their pockets, shirts, and even Mouth is forced to spit out his string of pearls and handful of jewels.  Mama Fratelli ties the kids’ hands together before starting to make them walk the plank, starting with shoving Andy overboard, which prompts Brand to dive in after her.  Mama Fratelli next pushes Mouth and Stef (who have decided to quit arguing and bickering with each other now that they’re about to die together) out onto the plank, but before she can push them in too, Sloth and ‘Captain’ Chunk appear.  Sloth rescues Stef and Mouth and then takes on the rest of his family while the rest of the Goonies untie themselves and dive overboard to make a swim for it.  In unimportant and mildly related news, Brand and Andy share a first kiss, prompting them to realize that she got Mikey the first time.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Sloth ties up his brothers and tosses his mother overboard, diving in after the Goonies while his mother climbs back aboard the ship and releases her sons, heading for the loot.  Showing none of Mikey’s restraint, she takes some of the gold from the scales at the center of the table, triggering one last booby trap: causing the cave to start to collapse.
The Goonies head for the cave wall, using one of the sticks of dynamite to blow a hole large enough for them to squeeze through.  With Sloth holding the path open so that the Goonies can get through, the kids escape, reluctantly leaving Sloth behind while he goes to save his family.  One-Eyed Willy’s ship, still affected by the trap, pulls up its anchors and starts to head out of the lagoon.
Tumblr media
The Goonies, wet and worse for wear, but safely on the beach, are spotted by a few cops (one of which is played by director Richard Donner), who call it in.  Soon enough, the kids are surrounded by parents, grandparents, and various other family members (many of whom are played by actual cast members’ families), all of whom are happy that their children are alive and well, if a bit disheveled.  Brand has brought Mikey home safely, Chunk’s family brings him a pizza, Data’s father, evidently as much of an inventor as he himself is, embraces his son, and Mouth and Stef make up, displaying some feelings towards each other that aren’t blatant aggression.  Andy shares a heartfelt talk with Mikey, and happily prepares to head off into the sunset with Brand.  Mikey apologizes to his father:
“Sorry, Dad, we had our hands on the future, but we gave it up just to save our own lives.”
Tumblr media
Everyone’s home safe, breathing a collective sigh of relief, when the Fratellis (Sloth included!) show up.
After Chunk convinces the cops that Sloth is a good guy, the Fratellis are led away in handcuffs.  Chunk tells Sloth that he’s going to take care of him now.
Tumblr media
“Sloth, you’re gonna live with me now. I’m gonna take care of ya, ’cause I love ya.”
Just as it looks like things are winding down, Troy’s father, Mr. Perkins, (and Troy himself) show up to force Mr. Walsh to sign the foreclosure papers, completely ignoring the fact that he just now found his missing kids.  Reluctantly, Mr. Walsh prepares to sign, but before he does, Rosalita, the housekeeper, stumbles upon Mikey’s marble bag, full of jewels.
Mouth manages to translate fast enough to stop Mr. Walsh from going through with it.  The marble bag is emptied out, revealing enough of a fortune to save the Goondocks.  Mr. Walsh tears up the papers, and One-Eyed Willy’s pirate ship, breaking free of the lagoon, floats off in the distance as the Goonies, and Sloth, gather together and cheer.
Tumblr media
The End.
So….that’s The Goonies.
So what?
Tumblr media
All in all, the movie, on paper, doesn’t seem very special.  There’s not much by way of ‘plot’ past the initial setup.  It sounds like a concept film on a roller coaster, without much in twists and turns.  It moves very quickly, from scene to scene to scene (I didn’t even cover all of it), one after another in a way that progresses the story, but doesn’t really add to it.  That’s not even mentioning all of the very lucky coincidences and oddities, such as the pirates building a water slide into the caves, apparently, or the fact that, throughout the story, everything just seems to work out for the main characters.
This isn’t to say that’s a bad thing.
Tumblr media
On the contrary, the movie is an exciting, fun ride from beginning to end.  But as far as the plot goes, it may be a little hard to see where the charm is in this story that seems like Indiana Jones for kids.
Here’s the thing about The Goonies.
Tumblr media
The story is rock solid in its simplicity, in its initial setup.  Four kids who care about each other very much are about to be separated, and in a desperate grab to prevent it, go treasure hunting, racing against a criminal family after the same thing for selfish reasons.  The rest: Sloth, booby traps, ‘Goonies Never Say Die’, etc. is all trimmings, icing on the cake of a basic story that, boiled down to its essentials, is extremely bare-bones.  Even in practice, there isn’t much added to it: there are no real character subplots that tie into the main story, just minor things: Chunk finally being believed, Data proving himself a capable inventor, Mouth and Stef’s bickering growing into mild mutual respect, even Brand and Andy’s romance doesn’t really add up to directly influence the story much at all.
But that’s the stuff we remember, almost as well as the bone organ, or the first time the kids see the pirate ship.  The question is, why?
Tumblr media
The Goonies is not a mind-blowing story.  It’s very basic, with less twists and turns than many contemporary kids movies, but in the end, that’s the brilliance of it.
I don’t need a long, drawn out reason for why Mikey’s father has a map in his attic.  I don’t need to know what brought these oddballs together, or where Data gets the stuff for his inventions.  The movie cuts right to the car chase, introduces you to the main characters, and throws you into their plight immediately.  And although the problem is more small scale than plenty of other adventure films, it’s incredibly high stakes, at least, to the main characters.

The idea of losing your home to foreclosure, while not a reality for everyone, is something that an audience can instantly relate to: you don’t want to be separated from where you are, and Mikey’s passion for staying together is such that he drags his friends into a life-risking adventure to save the Goondocks.  As an audience, we understand that this is maybe a little extreme, but we go with it, because it makes sense to him, and therefore, it makes sense to us.  The Fratellis are incredibly easy to grasp as villains: they do nothing but bad things (albeit often in humorous ways), including mistreating Sloth, who again, is simply presented as a victim.  There are no moral ambiguities in The Goonies, no moments of decision beyond ‘go forward or quit’.  Once the Goonies discover where the treasure might be, the story is launched on a forward trajectory with no signs of stopping until the very end, when, of course, the Goondocks are saved, and the Goonies themselves return safely to worried parents.
You can describe the plot in a sentence, and there’s no deviation from it: kids trying to save their homes by finding a buried treasure before a criminal family does.

And yet, it works perfectly in its simplicity.  Like I said, you understand exactly why the main characters do what they do, and you understand who they are, nearly immediately.  The story doesn’t need to go into explaining it, or the characters, as it goes along, merely to build upon what’s already there.  That forward trajectory allows the story to always keep moving, keep pushing characters forward with chases, booby traps, lucky stumbles, and so much happening at all times that it’s easy to go along for the ride, enjoying the little moments added onto the basic premise like the wishing well scene, iconic because it directly attaches to Mikey’s goal and is a turnaround point for a few characters.  Nothing changes here, but things are reinforced: the initial goal and motivations, and the decision to keep moving.  When Chunk meets Sloth and follows him into the tunnels, nothing feels like it’s changing, exactly, except his actual physical movement, going forward instead of retreating.
There is no ‘switching gears’ in The Goonies.  Everything pushes forward, building until the climax, and the near instant the goal is achieved, the movie is over.  We don’t need to see, (as much as we might like to) Sloth moving in with Chunk, or Data’s next invention, or Brand and Andy’s relationship’s next step, or even Mikey’s next Goonie adventure, because that story is over.  We can close the book on these kids, and although sometimes it’d be nice to know what happened to them years later, we don’t need a winddown of a conclusion.  All we need to know is that they kept their houses and stayed together.

Again….why?
Why do we care so much about these kids?  It’s not like they changed, or grew as people.  There’s no ‘Hero’s Journey’ for Mikey, he gets what he wants and throws away his inhaler.  He never changes goals, never overcomes a character flaw.  If most good stories are dictated by dynamic characters who change, it seems like The Goonies falls flat.

From beginning to end, the characters in The Goonies seem to end the film the exact same way that they started: Mikey’s an idealistic leader, Mouth’s a loudmouth, Data’s an ‘absent-minded professor’ type, and Chunk is a boisterous, easily-panicked kid.  There are subtle differences, sure, like Chunk becoming a braver person and Data proving his inventions, even Mouth settles down a little, but for the most part, there’s no arc, no beginning, middle and end, no big changes that show what all has happened and how it affects each one of them.
Because it doesn’t have to.

We care about these kids because they, and the story, are simple, without being stupid, and easily grasped.  Everything in this film is tailored for quick accessibility: grab an idea and move on so we can play with it.  As I pointed out with the initial chase scene: instantly, you have an idea of what’s going on, and who each character is.  With that in mind, especially with an ensemble cast, ‘character arcs’ don’t matter quite as much.
You can have good stories without good character arcs.  Back to the Future is a great example of a protagonist who doesn’t change, but is within a deeply compelling narrative, and in the end, that’s the secret.  The plot for The Goonies is deeply compelling, because we as an audience like these kids and don’t want them to lose their home.  We want them to stay together, whether it’s from Stand By Me-like nostalgia for old friends, or feelings towards friends we have right now.  The goals are rock-solid, and after that, the story is too.

I’m not talking about things like the skull carved into the cave face: I’m talking about the forward trajectory.  Every single story beat henceforth is tight and fast-paced, each scene sliding right into the next without any real breaks.  It’s a waterslide in its own right, full of excitement and consistent characters and goals, with understandable stakes and villains, and in the end, when the kids make it home safe, achieving their goal by the skin of their teeth, we cheer with them.
As it turns out, the recipe for successful filmmaking isn’t always ‘thought provoking plot + well rounded, dynamic characters’.  Sometimes the way to make a good film is ‘simple, interesting plot + simple, likeable characters’.

With that in mind, The Goonies is 100% a classic.
There is a reason that this movie stuck, and it all revolves around the streamlined simplicity of its design.  With so little ‘fluff’ getting in the way of the main conflict, the film is free to devote its entire focus to these goals and these characters reaching them.  Thanks to this single-minded drive, the film is memorable in everything: iconic characters, great lines, wonderful setpieces, with no part being overshadowed by all of the rest.

It’s not hard to see why this movie became such a milestone for so many.  It resonates with people who can find themselves in a specific character or plight, whether children themselves or considerably older, who can allow themselves to be sucked along for the ride and believe, for just a little while, that there’s still such a thing as pirate treasure.
And it’ll continue to resonate for decades to come.
