#steve can be a great brother and i love when he adopts all the kids incl max but saying it like that specifically is snubbing billy

sometimes i see posts of steve and max where they call steve "the brother max deserves" and it always irks me a little because billy was the brother max deserved, they just killed him before he could properly show it. 🤦🏻‍♀️
she had a brother, they (the writers) just didnt use him very well. clearly by s3, billy and max were on good enough terms for her to mourn him all the way into s4. her grief and survivor's guilt and the trauma not just from his death but from living in an abusive home and being part of that abusive cycle are the reasons she gets targeted by vecna, and there's an entire episode titled after the letter she writes to him and reads to his gravestone. the last words he ever says are an apology to her.
calling steve the brother she deserves like billy isnt an integral part of her character, like billy isnt worth considering or looking at or like he doesnt exist, like he's somehow a villain that was cast upon max, a punishment she didnt deserve... that aint it. it takes away from their character backgrounds and the nuances held within them imo.
i love steve but the brother max deserves is a living billy, shuttling her around in his camaro and calling her "shitbird" and being like a real brother and sister, the way she wishes for in her letter. i have no doubt that had billy survived starcourt, they would have gotten there. they just chose to let him die instead. :/

Seeing a lot of Step dads being asked to adopt officially their step kids today on Tiktok and it made me think of Eddie doing something like that with Wayne.
We don’t know if Wayne officially adopted him, maybe he’s just in temporary care and now Eddie is old enough to not need an adult to look after him but when anyone asks him about his parents he always talks about Wayne so he might as well make it official, right?
Steve helps him prepare the papers in time for Christmas and he even asks Jonathan for his camera so he can capture the moment.
Despite being sure, Eddie feels a little nervous. He knows that Wayne loves him like a son, but he also knows that taking care of him wasn’t something he chose, more like the right thing to do when your brother is a fuckup and goes to prison leaving his kid to fend for himself.
Steve cheers him up by threatening him that if he doesn’t ask Wayne to adopt him, he will. Somehow that’s the weirdest and sweetest threat Eddie has ever received.
Eddie gives the papers to Wayne on Christmas, carefully folded inside a box, under a very ugly mug he knows Wayne will love in case the adoption papers aren’t well received.
Wayne opens the box and huffs looking at the dog-shaped mug “you’ve outdone yourself son, might be my new favorite one”.
He notices the way Eddie flinches at the word “son” but he shrugs it off and turns to Steve, gesturing at the camera in his hands “is this all? Wanted to take a picture of this ugly ass mug?”
Steve tries to use a neutral tone, but it comes out fond nonetheless “I think there’s something else”.
Wayne frowns, turns to Eddie who’s bouncing on his place “look at the bottom of the box” Eddie points at it.
He picks the piece of paper, unfolds it and, after giving a suspicious look to the both of them, he reads quietly.
If they didn’t know Wayne, they probably wouldn’t have noticed his eyes getting a little watery and his hands lightly trembling.
Eddie and Steve exchange a knowing look and a big smile, Steve takes it as his cue to snap the first picture.
The second depicts Eddie putting his hand on Wayne’s shoulder and his uncle -or better, his dad- looking up to hold back the tears.
The third one, everyone’s favorite, has Wayne enveloping Eddie in a bone-crushing hug and Eddie’s surprised face.
A while later, when everyone has calmed down and Wayne has signed everything he needed to, he asks “so, what about Steve?”
The boys give him a surprised look “what about me?” Steve wonders.
“Either you two get married or I adopt you too” he says simply, sipping his coffee from his new favorite dog mug.
Both Eddie and Steve get red and ramble about how it is way too soon and that gay marriage being illegal anyways.
“Im just saying, son” Wayne dwells a second on the word, as it has taken a new meaning for him “that Steve is part of the family too, and if you don’t make it official then I will.”
Eddie doesn’t give Steve any time to react “No fucking way, man” he jumps out of his seat and points at his boyfriend without looking at him “I’m asking him as soon as marriages are legal!”
“We’ll see” replies Wayne, just to rile him up, which works perfectly.
“Are you challenging me?” He turns to Steve, scandalized “don’t you dare become my step brother Steve!”
Steve winces just at the thought of it “of course-“
“How do you expect Steve to say yes to marring you if you’re this controlling?” Wayne interrupts him.
“Me?? I would be a great husband! The best!” Eddie replies, looking outraged.
Steve covers his face in his hands and mutters “oh my God” as Wayne keeps poking at Eddie and the latter takes every bait.
It takes Eddie approximately 45 minutes to realize he had been talking about being Steve’s husband in front of him the whole time despite never having that conversation between them first.
His embarrassed expression once he realizes is Wayne second’s favorite Christmas present that year.

Being dustin's parents Pt: 2 (kinda)
Tumblr media
summary: just you and Eddie being great parents and taking a trip, nothing too excited..I think?
a/n: thank you so much for all the love on my headcannon! I wasn't expecting it to do so well, so I couldn't handle it and I made somewhat of a second part!
part 1
Okay with johnny, whenever you go out with dustin together, people are shocked, especially older people
“Oh wow, you two are awfully young  to have 2 kids already!”
“How do you do it?”
“You must have a lot of help with 2 kiddos”
“Who does he get the curly hair from?”
You and Eddie heard it all, you were used to it at this point
Like hell yeah! you do have 2 kids! Big deal
You guys even planned a trip to California to visit Will
This was made into a big trip with the whole gang
Of course you all try and chip in to getting an RV
Eddie suggested he could steal another one
Lowkey would be easier, but no way in hell you would let him do that
Big boy Steve was the designated driver
Nancy and robin were on snack duty
Eddie was on music, along with robin of course
They would fight on what really is music
And you were on babysitting duty
Dustin was by your side hanging out with his little brother
“Wait, can you adopt us too?”
“We wanna be munsons too,”
“HEY! I can use a few too, i am a parent too,”
“Hey hey, you are all my kids, no one is loved less or more,” you teased.
Steve was kinda jealous how under control you had it.
“I’m just better at this than you,”
“Well yeah you have practice, that's not fair, I had to learn to take them under control.”
“Steve don't you forget I was here first, so I showed you how to control them,”
You would make stops along the way and take pictures, with this being your first family trip and all
“Okay okay, stand here, HENDERSON GET IN THIS!”
Eddie smiled through as he took the photos of you two
Of course you took a family picture with dustin too
You took pictures of him as well and together so that way johnny had pictures of you guys
As well with the rest of the gang
He took small candids along the way wanting to catch you and Johnny in your element
From time to time he would take care of him and babysit the kids while you slept
Eddie has helped you a lot since you Johnny so he was used to doing all the messy work, along with dustin
After all you did all the work giving him a kid and giving Dustin a brother so, as he always did, he treated you like a princess, broke the gender norms and helped you out.
Once you arrived to Will’s house you all got out excitedly
“Oh my gosh! You had the baby!”
Joyce would be all over you being so happy
She would hold on to Johnny for the most part.
“I miss when Will was like this, he would be all sleepy, Jonathan would be awake and kicked a lot,”
She would go through all the baby pictures she had and she even gave you some baby clothes
She even had girls' outfits.
“We thought Will was gonna be a girl so we bought some clothes, but he surprised us all,”
“Here, you should have them, i have a feeling you're gonna have a girl next,”
Ahhh of course, next.
You and eddie wanted a big family you guys were going for 4 kids and of course made an exception for dustin, so in total you were having 5 kids
“Im hoping i get a girl too,”
Oh how crazy he was for trying for a girl, but for now he was okay with Johnny, of course he wanted them to be close in age, but wanted to wait until Johnny was a little bigger.
But you enjoyed his gushing
He saw the clothes and fell in love with the idea
“Oh my gosh, i can just imagine, she might be the opposite of me, she is definitely gonna come out as you, but likes what i like, if you decide you want more, maybe one will come out like me, all metal head, and nerdy, and look exactly like you,”
You could imagine it all already, you more than anything loved the idea.
“Wait, who will babysit them if Steve has kids? He will no longer be the babysitter,”
“Well we have a lot of help, the kids love you and they will want to help,”
When you got back from the trip you stayed in hawkins
You had talked with wayne, and he was gonna be home for a few days
So you stayed so he could see johnny
He hadn't met him and you knew this would be a good chance to spend time with him all together.
“Look at you two, all grown up, what's the little fellas name?”
“Johnny, johnny munson,”
He was shocked too at the last name
“I didn't think you wanted to keep the name?”
“I didn't at first, but y/n convinced me, i've grown to be proud of it,”
“So am i,”
a/n: thank you so much for all the love! I'm happy you all enjoy my writing glad I hope you stay along for the many not so many fics I write. for those who are knew I write and then I stop writing so be prepared for my bipolar writers block, love you all so much and thank you!

Monsters AU, anyone????
If you haven't already guessed it, Steve Harrington is my comfort character and almost everything I write lately has to do with him. But I love myths and monsters, so I mashed them up.
Steve is a werewolf; not always, but an incident when he was four changed him. His mother blames herself for his accident and tends to stay away from him, too overcome with guilt to even look at her son. Unfortunately, of all things, he was changed into a pack animal, and the loss of his mother's comfort has a negative effect. He's withdrawn, aggressive, unable to get comfortable in his own skin, all before even starting kindergarten- his only relief is when his mother hires an old friend to watch him. Her friend is from the supernatural world: the oldest son of a family of vampires that have lived in the United States since they stowed away on the Mayflower.
Steve and his new babysitter are instantly bonded: Steve goes back to being a sweet, albeit clingy, little angel, and his sitter is always more than happy to indulge him and shower him in love. Life is really looking up for Steve, to the point that he secretly refers to himself as "Stevie Munson," and dreams up a world where Wayne is his pa, instead of his actual father. But life is rarely kind to Steve, and soon his beloved Wayne has to leave town for an undetermined amount of time because of a "family emergency." Steve is heartbroken that he isn't allowed to go with him.
As if losing his sitter isn't enough, Steve's mother dies in a robbery-gone-wrong on Steve's ninth birthday, five years to the day after the attack that changed him. Richard Harrington can't be assed to take care of his son in her stead, and hires another sitter. Claudia Henderson (human, through and through) decides on her first day that Steve is as much her son as Dustin, and that only solidifies when she discovers that the poor baby her late husband attacked years ago was actually Steve. Dustin (a born werewolf as opposed to Steve, a changed werewolf) decides that Steve is his brother immediately, and it's like two puppies have found each other. Steve is protective, loving, and maybe a little bit possessive of his new brother, but Dustin has love to spare. As he grows from toddler to kid to preteen, he acquires more and more friends: first, Will Byers, from a family of light elves, who is shy and artistic and never cuts off one of Dustin's excited rants, even though they're both seven and Dustin's grasp of engineering is on par with a college undergrad. With Will comes Mike Wheeler and his older sister, Nancy, both of whom are descendants of the great Valkyrie. Nancy is a little more.... ethereal than Mike, because their Valkyrie blood is more prominent in women, but they're both stubborn and snarky and have a weird obsession with the Byers boys, but Dustin swears that they're both very nice. Lucas Sinclair comes around soon after, and he's really the only friend of Dustin's that Steve has actually met. He's a soft-spoken kid until he's comfortable, and then he's quick witted and so loyal that Steve actually thinks that maybe he's a werewolf, instead of a chimera.
Steve refuses to meet anyone else in Dustin's friend group; he says it's because he's too big to be around Dustin's friends, but it's actually because he doesn't think that he can be around them without lashing out for taking his baby brother away from him.
When Dustin is eleven and Steve is seventeen, Chief Hopper- the only Berserker in Hawkins- adopts a little witch named Jane, although she answers more to El than she does Jane. Soon after, Max Mayfield moves to town, and Dustin's little group of friends adds the banshee to their ranks.
Finally, Steve agrees to meet his friends, lovingly dubbed "the Party" by every member of it. They're wary of Steve at first- Richard Harrington is the most outspoken anti-supernatural in town, and they didn't know that Dustin's Big Brother Steve the Werewolf was actually Steve Harrington, so almost all of them are sure that they'll be harassed in their safe space. Steve is quiet for a while, yes, but Will and El take to him immediately, and Steve is weak for people who look at him like he's worth something (it's why he's such a pushover for Dustin and Claudia; they love him unconditionally and he will do anything to make himself feel worthy of that) so he adopts Will and El into his little family almost immediately.
Will and El adore Steve: El insists that he's a big, fluffy puppy, and her descriptions have never been wrong, so it makes the entire Party warm up to him. Will is painfully shy, and the speed with which he warms up to Steve is unheard of; but Will quite literally glows when Steve shows up, and even once he's calmed down the air around him glitters with his excitement. Steve takes to them both; at first, Dustin is over the moon at this.
Next to warm up to Steve is Lucas, a few weeks after Steve joins the Party. He's frosty toward Steve at first, but at a group movie night he watches Steve jump out of a dead sleep to jump out of a window and slam into a tree, face first (apparently, he'd been having a dream about a cheese monster trying to eat his toes). Then, Jonathan and Nancy, who both watch Steve with the kids and decide that, yes, they do have a crush on the sweet, dumb dog that's joined their ranks. Nancy asks him out first, though, and Steve is flustered enough that he agrees (and is almost instantly smitten with her). Mike refuses to warm up to Steve; the guy can't even breathe right, as far as Mike is concerned.
The longer that Steve and Nancy date, the angrier Dustin gets. He feels like he's being left behind. Steve spends more and more time with Nancy, at her behest. Neither of them realize how unhealthy their relationship is growing to be, just how the relationship between Nancy's parents are. Nancy demands that everything be held to a certain standard, and Steve does everything he possibly can to meet that standard. It isn't until Nancy dumps him- a very nasty affair that has Steve avoiding everyone except Dustin- that they actually grow as people and become something healthier to each other. (Just like in the show, they get into a fight at a party, and when they revisit it while sober, they fight again; Steve is hurt and wants to know if she really thinks he's bullshit, and Nancy won't give him a straight answer. He's upset and he can feel himself losing control of himself, so he walks away. Nancy leaves town on an overnight trip to get some info with Jonathan, and when she comes back, she spits vitriol at a panicked, concussed Steve. She does a lot of growing up after that, but she never actually apologizes for hurting Steve, although he frequently tries to "make up" for his own mistakes.
Max joins the group soon after that, and gets along with Steve almost immediately. She's a young banshee, and a part of her lore explains that she screams; she can't control when, how long, or even how loudly she screams, and as a result her step-brother (a human named Billy) is incredibly abusive. He belittles her for her Screams, and isn't afraid to shove her around (never where their parents can see: if Susan caught wind of it, his father Neil would hear, and Neil was not a man to cross). When Max meets Steve, and watches how he picks on the Party using their own species(he calls Lucas "little lion man," Will is Sunshine, Mike is Paladin Shithead, and Dustin has always been pup) while still encouraging them (Steve encourages the kids as they grow and develop these new abilities, never belittling them for their struggles, but showing them that it's okay to mess up. She doesn't know that it's because Steve had no one to do that for him until his mother died and the Hendersons were brought into his life). She's afraid to open up to the guy, right up until, in the middle of a crisis situation where Max is forced to use her powers on purpose for the first time, Steve throws himself in the line of fire to protect the Lucas- and by extension, the whole Party- more than once.
Steve protects her from Billy when he tries to "pick her up" (read: drag her home by the hair without regard for her safety), allows Billy to beat his ass because the alternative at the time was to chase him away until no one was around to protect Lucas, and then, with a whole concussion, does a full shift and defends the children from these strange alternate hellbeasts that were summoned by some crazies at the Hawkins Laboratory for Scientific Witchcraft. The guy even praised her for Screaming on purpose, calling her a hero. Max is soon just as attached to Steve as any other.
In the summer after breaking up with Nancy, Steve gets a job at the mall. He meets Robin, who seems for all intents and purposes a simple human being. She's quirky and goofy and she smells like the ocean after a storm; Steve loves her very quickly, but something in him keeps him from actually developing a crush. Robin is his beloved other half, his soulmate, the yin to his yang, whatever else means that she completes him. She calls him Dingus exclusively, and Steve knows that if he ever heard it while he was shifted fully, he would be rolling around like a delighted puppy. He learns later, after they've fought for their lives and suffered and survived, that Robin was born a normal human, but after the most traumatic experience of her life, she was transformed into a siren.
After the mall, Robin is inducted into the group. She keeps an eye on the kids while they're at school, partially for her own sanity, but also for Steve, who is beside himself at the prospect of his babies being out of sight for so long (he gets like this after every Upside-Down interaction, he loves those kids and he can't stand the idea of losing the family he's built for himself). By the end of the first month, Steve is desperate to meet this guy his kids keep ranting about, Eddie Munson, and it's just because he's worried about them, not because he's afraid of losing his spot as their Big Brother or because the name Munson struck a chord in the back of his mind(for whatever reason).
Without the kids knowing- except Max, because she saw him going up to the Munson trailer. She would never bring it up to the Party unless Steve did first- Steve goes to meet this Eddie Munson and maybe scope out the competition a little. Instead, he meets a pasty boy with unfairly attractive hands and full lips and the warmest chocolate eyes and-
His mooning over this pretty boy is cut short when a man with a painfully familiar face peers in from the kitchen, meeting Steve's eyes with a surprised, "Stevie?" The greeting is enough to make Steve tear up, and he starts freaking out because why is he so happy that this guy knows him, and he's ushered into their little home and onto an old, well-loved couch. Eddie is gushing about finally meeting the Stevie Harrington, he's been told all about him from Wayne through the years. Eddie asks him why he's never seen him at school, and Steve mumbles about being home-schooled ("I won't let people see my mistakes so easily," Richard Harrington drilled into his head from the moment Steve was old enough to go to school). Wayne is flustered and standoffish for all of three minutes before Steve is smothered in more paternal affection than he's received since he was seven; it clicks in his brain when Wayne calls him Stevie again, that he used to wish and beg the stars to change him into Stevie Munson, not Harrington, and that Wayne was his best friend for three years.
Eddie is smitten with this strong, pretty, downright fluffy boy that showed up on his doorstep, even more so when Wayne Munson (easily most comfortable when left alone in quiet) spends almost an hour fussing over and showering him in praise. Steve becomes a regular fixture in the Munson household, after that. Wayne spends weeks explaining the different types of supernatural creatures that have made their homes in Hawkins and the surrounding area, explaining Munson family history, and Steve finally has someone to walk him through everything about werewolves (Claudia tried, but she was really only parroting things she'd picked up as she raised Dustin, not any formal education. Steve never knew that it was a special thing to achieve a full shift; that particular afternoon had Eddie calling him a sweet little pup for a month).
********
I'm too lazy to spend another two days puzzling out how I want the rest of the show's plot to align with this au. I have it in my wips folder but this is already suuuuper long. My bad, pals

Hello love! Could you do a Steve x Munson!reader?? I want like protective big brother Eddie and love sick Steve and reader I think it’d be so cute! Btw you’re so talented and I absolutely adore you and your writing 💘💘💘
of course i can my love! and thank you ever so much for the compliments, it means a lot to me <3
warnings: fem!reader. munson!reader. no physical appearance mentions so r could be biological or adopted sibling. swearing. a lot of comedy. fluff. comfort. a love confession!! [1.5k].
Tumblr media
You started dating Steve at the beginning of ‘85. Your Uncle Wayne had taken a great liking to him, Steve being extra polite when you first invited him around to dinner with your family. When he called it a night and headed home, Wayne closed the door with the words: “He’s a very good kid, Y/N.”
But, there was one person who wasn’t fond of your boyfriend at all, and that would be your brother, Eddie.
Eddie was a prime victim of Steve’s ‘King’ era, recklessly getting bullied by Steve and his friends at the time. So, when you eventually broke the news that you were seeing Steve, it’s safe to say your brother did not take it lightly.
Eddie actually stopped speaking to you for a good day and a half, and then sulked around you for the remainder of the week.
He had eventually gotten used to it, Steve acting nice enough when you invited him over and Wayne wasn’t home. But, just because he was used to it didn’t mean he liked it. If anything, he despised it.
So, instead of leaving you two alone when he would come over, he would become extra annoying.
And boy did he enjoy it.
Tumblr media
“Hey, Wayne?” you ask, walking into the living room where he was lounging on the couch. “Is it alright if Steve comes over tomorrow night?”
“Course it is darlin’,” he replies, signalling over to your brother, “But, I am out for the night, I have a shift. So, you should really be asking Eddie.”
“Yeah, whatever…” he mumbles, not looking up from his Heavy Metal magazine, obviously listening in to the conversation between you and Wayne.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” you say optimistically, “Thanks Eds!”
You skip back to your room, running to the phone so you could let your boyfriend know, unaware of the conversation that was happening in the living room.
“You gotta accept who they are son, you can’t be sittin’ here all grumpy any time she brings up the poor boy.”
Eddie sighs out frustratedly, “He’s an asshole Wayne. He bullied me for two years!”
Wayne looks up from his newspaper, “Has he bullied ya recently?”
Eddie pouts his lips, avoiding Wayne’s gaze, mumbling out a “No.”
“Exactly boy,” he replies, “He’s obviously changed, people can do that. Your sister wouldn’t date him for no reason.”
Eddie shakes his head, groaning out, until a little idea pops in his head. An idea that he could accomplish tomorrow.
Tumblr media
You and Steve were sat on the couch, snuggled up to one another, some cheesy horror flick on the TV which Steve had rented out from Family Video.
“How’s your week been, beautiful?” Steve asks with a smile, pressing a light kiss to your forehead.
“Not bad, Mrs. Click only gave me a B- on that damn History homework, again! Like, I really don’t understand what this woman wants from me, honestly,” you softly laugh.
“Babe, I think you forget that I get a C in every class, so anything above that is incredible to me,” he tangles his hand in your hair and presses a kiss to your cheek, “I’m proud of you.”
“I’m proud of you too,” you whisper back, “Grades are technically just a reflection of the teacher’s working. If most of your kids are failing, technically that’s your fau—“
But, your sentence gets interrupted by the loud sound of clashing from behind you, Eddie shifting through the cupboards to grab something.
“Hey Eds,” he looks up at you, “What are you doing?”
“Oh, I just fancied a grilled cheese, so I thought I’d make one,” he smiles.
“You know Wayne left that soup in the fridge that Mrs. Johnson gave to us. You just need to heat it up,” you remind him, your patience wearing thin.
“Nah, I don’t feel like that,” he looks between the two of you, innocently saying, “Oh, I won’t interrupt you guys. You just keep being cutesy and all that shit.”
You sigh as you snuggle back into Steve’s side, trying to focus on the movie. But, you could’ve sworn Eddie was being extra loud on purpose, slamming the fridge door shut and throwing the frying pan on the stove.
It went all quiet for a while, the low sound of sizzling being the only distraction in the background, silent enough for you and Steve to focus back on the movie.
However, that was until Eddie called to you, “Hey Y/N!”
You roll your eyes as you turn around and look behind you, “Yes Eddie?” you ask with a sarcastic smile.
He signals you to come over with his arm, “Would you say this is cooked enough?”
You pinch your forehead with your fingers, “When it’s golden brown, it’s cooked Eddie.”
“Yeah, but what is ‘golden brown’? Just, get your ass over here.”
You groan out as you get up from your seat, stomping over to Eddie and looking down at his food sizzling away in the frying pan.
“Eddie, you haven’t even flipped it over yet,” you stare at him with a deadpan look.
“Oh yeah, so I haven’t,” he smiles back at you, a smile you wanted to wipe right off of his face, “See, this is why I need you sis. Where would I be without you?”
You walk back to the couch, mumbling under your breath, “Away from me, that’s for sure,” laying completely on top of Steve as he wraps his arms around your back, yours around his neck as your face squishes into his chest.
Although you can’t see, Eddie’s frustrations are growing. How did that make you two even closer? Eddie smirks to himself as he thinks of something that would definitely get you to move away from Steve.
You haven’t looked up from the screen in over five minutes. With the grilled cheese sizzling away behind you, you believe Eddie has everything under control for once. That’s until you smell the sense of burning behind you, followed by the loud blaring of the smoke alarm.
“What the fu— Eddie!” you yell, leaping off of the couch, Steve covering his ears with his hands at the loud noise as you turn the hob off and move the frying pan onto the worktop.
Eddie returns from the bathroom, you yelling at him, “What the hell were you doing?”
“I needed a piss!”
“Well, you can’t just leave food unattended!” you shout, smacking the smoke alarm with your fist, knowing from experience that the worn out item died down from doing that motion.
“Jesus,” he holds his hands up, “I’m sorry.”
You huff as you head back over to Steve, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek as you say, “I’m heading to the bathroom, okay?”
He nods as you exit the room, leaving just him and Eddie alone, Eddie assembling his burnt sandwich, although he didn’t mind, since it got you away from Steve.
But, maybe this was worse, because now he was stuck in a silent atmosphere with his former bully.
Steve speaks up, “I’m not going to hurt her, y’know?”
Eddie doesn’t look at Steve as he continues making his sandwich, “What?”
Steve turns around, looking at Eddie in the kitchen, “I said I’m not going to hurt her. I’m not like I used to be. King Steve died a long time ago.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t believe that,” Eddie mumbles back, throwing his grilled cheese on a plate and heading towards his room.
“Dude, wait!” Steve yells, getting up from his seat and jogging over to him, Eddie turning his back as he leans against the kitchen countertop, “Look, I know why you don’t believe me, hell, I wouldn’t either.”
He sighs, “The reason Nancy Wheeler broke up with me is because I didn’t care about her problems. When she needed me most, I wasn’t there. I don’t want to be that again for your sister, man,” Steve admits. “I love her, I can’t lose her. I’m not like I was before, I’m not friends with Tommy and Carol anymore, I couldn’t give two shits about popularity, all I care about is being a good boyfriend to your sister. And all I ask of you is to accept that because if you started dating my sister, I would accept it in a heartbeat.”
“You love me?” you whisper as you come out of the bathroom, looking at Steve with a loving gaze. You walk up to him, wrapping your arms around his neck as he cups your cheeks, “Yeah baby, I love you.”
You smile, your insides burning alive at the confession, “I love you too.”
Steve sighs happily as he slots his lips in between yours, the two of you sharing a soft kiss, expressing all of your love and admiration for each other.
Eddie slides past the two of you and heads to his room with his food. Did he 100% believe Steve had completely changed? No. He was still pretty convinced that the old him was buried away in there somewhere.
But, was he undoubtedly in love with you? Yes. And although he feels protective of you after everything the two of you had been through together, the one thing he could let you do is be happy with your boyfriend.
You deserved love, and he wasn’t going to take that away from you.

i really hope you enjoyed this fic! i had a lot of fun writing it <33

more of punk!steve bc i adore him
steve first runs into the Party at the arcade (where he works part time because he wants to make his own money as a ‘fuck you’ to his parents and cuz it’s a chill job) and he becomes their favorite worker and they become his favorite customers. one day steve takes a smoke break in the parking lot and sees some kids bullying the Party and his older brother instincts kick in.
he walks up behind the party like “well well what do we have here?” and the Party is like “steve!! :D” and steve in his leather jacket and ripped jeans and combat boots glares down the bullies and they scamper off. from then on steve tells the kids to go to him if someone is bothering them and it becomes town-wide knowledge not to mess with byers wheeler henderson & sinclair. he basically becomes their personal Scary Dog.
the parents end up wanting to meet this young man who kept bullies away from their kids (and they’ve heard all sorts of rumors about him and he dresses like That so they’re suspicious) and steve’s like “yeah sounds great!” and immediately charms all of them because he’s a sweetheart and does genuinely care about and want to protect their kids. from then on he’s the go-to babysitter / ride to school / campaign host. steve pretends to be annoyed but he loves it and treats them all like they’re his younger siblings (especially lucas and dustin)
joyce and steve bond especially and they have coffee dates every sunday and just talk (joyce tries to get steve to come to her when he needs help or just someone to listen). at first everyone who sees them is super confused because what is paranoid mother Joyce Byers doing with the high school bad boy Steve Harrington?? but after a couple months it just becomes commonplace and people will even stop by to say hi
i also think jonathan and steve would end up being best friends in like freshman year and steve would get jancy together in s1 (steve and nancy don’t date). he’s never a third wheel though they have a great “this is my boyfriend and our best friend steve” type relationship. (plus jonathan never takes the creepy pics and the whole fight never happens so they’re all chill).
steve and robin are fellow outcasts so they’re chill. then steve beats up some guys who harassed her and they become actual friends and steve lets robin come over whenever her parents are being shitty. steve lowkey converts her into a punk and they basically do illegal shit and have a bunch of fun.
btw steve is a fully realized biromantic demisexual (or just queer whatv lol) and he has an extremely accurate gaydar which is partially why stobin become friends. anyways i’m mentioning this becauseee
steve meets will byers and Immediately Knows and pretty much comes out to him and tells him it’s okay and he becomes wills Gay Mentor (imo jonathan can either be straight or queer and just not really informed abt gay shit so steve would be the mentor in his place bc they’re basically brothers anyway (joyce absolutely tries to adopt steve multiple times)).
steve meets max at the arcade before any of the Party befriend her and she immediately becomes another of his favorite customers (the ranking is dustin, will & lucas & max, mike). she thinks he’s super cool and basically projects onto him as an older brother figure and he’s happy to play the part. he notices the way billy treats max and threatens him that if he ever treats her like that again he will kill him and hopper will help him hide the body. things are pretty peaceful for max after that. additionally neil hargrove gets arrested for domestic and child abuse and billy takes his car and leaves without a word. max’s mom still drinks so steve kinda unofficially adopts her, she has her own room in his house and ends up staying there most days. he ends up actually adopting her later but they’re still more of an older brother & younger sister dynamic than father & daughter
steve doesn’t interact with eddie until s4 but they know of each other and are on neutral terms until the byers move to cali and eddie starts DMing for dustin lucas mike erica and max (who steve managed to convince to play). they’re wary of each other at first but eddie realizes steve is actually a huge softie and steve realizes eddie is just a cute dork who reads LOTR and plays D&D.
steve isn’t on any sports teams or anything but he works out on his own, goes for jogs every morning with jonathan and nancy especially after the demogorgon and demodog shit. basically he’s fit and good at fighting (due to more experience with it) and nancy taught him how to shoot so he can do that too. most of his scars are from demo-creatures instead of fistfights, though he has a few of those too (not from jonathan or billy tho).

spy x family x lookism
has anyone ever done dg x gun? has anyone ever even thought of that? no? well let me try and convince you to convince Me to someday write the only valid spy x family!lookism au i can think of instead of just you know. shitting it out on tumblr and leaving it to rot
1. gun park as loid forger
spy man from foreign country (pretend he’s japanese) sneaks into new country (korea) under disguise to stop a war (the 4 crews) by assassinating military advisor (charles choi) of the president (steve hong)
has multiple names: spy name ‘white oni’, previous names include ‘yamazaki yuzuru’, current given name is ‘park jong gun’
currently works as bodyguard and fake husband to idol singer ‘dg’
does not know real identity (mercenary) of his fake husband
2. dg as yor forger
sweet and angelic by day (idol dg, real name kang dagyeom), won’t hesitate to shed blood and commit violence by night (james lee / ‘legend’)
is most often hired by charles choi to do his dirty work but cannot disobey bc charles choi has dirt on him (committing violence and breaking the law)
hopes someone will destroy charles choi for him so he can finally be free
does not know real identity (spy) of his fake husband
3. daniel park as anya forger
age 5 to start with, was orphaned after mother passed away and father (park jinyoung) was arrested for conducting illegal experiments on kids
is adopted by gun park first, but dg also warms up to him, which is great bc he now has 1) two doting parents 2) life like a spy kdrama
psychic due to pjy experiments and has excellent common sense but is academically a bit of a dumdum. math is his worst enemy
knows secret identities of both parents but they don’t know he knows
4. jay hong as damian desmond
second son of the president but does not hold a candle to his superstar hyung kitae even tho he’s smartest out of all jae won prestigious elementary school first graders and probably could handle third grade homework
gun originally wants daniel to befriend jay to get closer to steve hong and then charles choi by default, does not expect the father son relationship to be so terrible
falls in love with daniel at first sight when daniel punches kid zack (re: damian Anya Can Do No Wrong filter) but suffers from extreme social anxiety so he comes off as tsun a lot
5. others of note
zoe as becky: adores daniel like a blood brother, idolizes dg
goo as franky: the fun uncle! but horrible with kids
kouji as handler: brings messages from the big boss but is more chill about things.
eugene as yuri: unhealthy obsession with knowing what dg is doing all the time. onesided childhood friend of dg
the rest of j high squad + johan: the rest of janiel’s class. issues crop up, daniel solves those issues to make friends in the name of world peace, dg wonders how such a bully like gun managed to raise such a sweet son
crystal: charles choi’s middle school aged daughter + hi bye friends with kitae. hence the jay to kitae to crystal to charles choi pipeline (aka gun’s plan 2 for Project Friendship)

hiii so i just saw a post where you were answering an anon and you said you had a lavender marriage stobin au, one where children break into their house and then get adopted (??), and one where steve has a half sister. if it’s not too much trouble can i have the links for those fics cause they seem rlly interesting and i would love to read all of that? thanks!! - 💜
haha Sure! here are the tags big brother steve au
and Hollywood Studio Era Lavender Marriage Stobin au
but also. I will elaborate under the readmore for Lavender's Blue because I haven't said anything about The Children and I love them so so much haha
They eloped right after Robin graduated, 1936, and end up leaving hawkins in fall of that year, after more than a year has passed since the upside down (in this au, everything is 50 years ealier and it's done after s3 and also hop isn't dead) They get a ground floor apartment in a sketchy part of LA. It's kinda shitty, has all of three rooms (bedroom, livingroom/kitchen, and somehow a private bathroom) Steve is working as a server at a diner and as a sort of gofer/physical labour/just do what we tell you to for the day guy at the same studio Robin rambled her way into being an editing assistant at.
He comes home one day in early 1937 to find a kid, no older than eight, eating a hunk of bread at the table. The child says "you should probably invest in better window locks." Before going back to the bread.
Steve blinks. Huffs. Says "well don't you think it's rather rude to stay for dinner without introducing yourself?"
Which is how Robin finds him with Charmaine, all seven years and 40 pounds of her, eating beans and corn on bread at the table with Steve. She just sighs, because of course he'd acquire another child less than six months away from Hawkins. Of course.
So it becomes routine, Sherry (as Steve has taken to calling her) shows up every few days for a meal or a bath, and slowly they learn that she's an orphan (unsurprising) and is living with a few other street kids who fell through the many wide cracks the Great Depression caused. Robin immediately invites them all to come over, have Steve cook up a nice big pot of chili for them and get them all washed up a bit. Sherry seems weary, but says she'll see.
At this point, it's spring 1937 and Steve's been asked to do a couple walk-on parts, and the studio seems to like his All-America look so is starting to shift him from "guy who does stuff we ask" to "guy who does stuff we ask but in front of the camera this time", which means he's getting a raise and can probably quit the diner job soon, and he and Robin can start looking for a better apartment but don't want to move without letting their newest gremlin know and making sure she's safe.
The next day sees Sherry and the kids she calls her siblings, five altogether, mismatched skin tone and heights and ages, standing outside Steve and Robin's apartment door fumbling with the key Steve gave her in case she needed to get in when they're not there.
One is clearly a toddler being held by a young teenager, another has a visible limp, and they all look dirty and scared. But they came, because Sherry said the Buckleys are actually half decent and invited them all, and Robin said they were welcome to stay whenever and Steve gave her a key, so they obviously won't get in trouble and they can always leave early because she knows their schedules. Steve stumbles home after a double shift at the diner to find them sprawled on the living room floor, bundled in blankets, asleep.
He tucks them in and is sure to make enough eggs in the morning.
After that...they just. Don't leave. Robin and Steve have a lot of talks about what to do about the kids, if they should move, how to ask the kids if they want to move in if they DO move.
Robin is getting more responsibility at work, Steve's being looked at for a role alongside Mae West that isn't a gangster (it's a lead romantic interest), and The Kids are becoming more Their Kids. The tiny shitty apartment is crawling with kids and eventually they sit everyone down and say "Hey. We need to move if you guys want to stay with us. Do you want to stay with us? We could, if you wanted, officially adopt you..."
So they do. Steve gets the part, playing a young sailor who falls in love with older married socialite Mae West, and his career really starts. (it has an infamous scene in which West stands on steps, looking down on Steve, who looks up at her, all big eyes and floppy hair. She says, with that famous Mae West drawl, "I'll devour you, kid." to which he says, breathless, "Please do." which barely gets passed the censors) They get a bigger apartment, the kids officially move in, and everyone at the studio realizes that the buckleys have a couple of tagalong kids now. The fanmags eat. it. up.

hcs for steve x henderson reader please?
ofc!!
the scenario as to how you're a henderson sibling is ambigious; could be adopted, biological, whatever u prefer😌
you 100% met through dustin
i mean you probably knew each other already, because you're a similar age and hawkins high isn't massive but you actually properly, meet through dustin
your baby brother is an adventurous kid; he's out at all hours of the day getting up to god knows what and you know he sneaks out his window past curfew when your mum thinks he is asleep
it's whatever, really; you know he's good at heart and probably isn't getting into trouble. you were the same when you were his age
you meet steve for the first time in unfortunate circumstances; you were meant to pick dustin up from a d&d meet but the thought completely slipped your mind
steve drops him off on the doorstep about two hours later with a very grumbly, curly haired kid by his side
"you forgot about me! what's more important than me?"
you send dustin inside and profusely apologise to and thank steve at the same time; he finds it quite funny actually because honestly how could you forget about someone as persistently loud and annoying as your little brother??
you bond over the fact he's a great, if not irritating kid
steve sees you in a coffee shop a few days later & you buy him a cup to say thank you for your mistake the other night
you end up talking for hours and he asks you out
from there it's an uphill trajectory of literally just falling in love with him
you hide it from dustin at first; there's no telling how he'll react
steve likes to think he'll be jealous because even though he shouldn't care what some kid thinks, he definitely feels a pang of something everytime dustin calls him all like "don't worry about picking me up later, eddie's gonna give me a ride!"
and harrington would like to think that dustin would extend the same courtesy to him
dustin finds out by accident; you're on the phone to steve one day, hanging up and saying you love him, and dustin goes "oh, i love you too steve, i'm sorry i missed your call. we're good right?"
and when he hears you go FUCK OFF, DUSTIN! he realises he meant the other henderson
there's no anger. maybe a little that you felt the need to hide it from him but overall, dustin is absolutely obsessed with the idea of you two
your mum, a little less so. she's always been a little weary of steve, ever since mrs wheeler told her one day at brunch about what a bad influence he was on nancy
(barely tho, but yanno how ma's can be)
you don't really care; you're old enough to move out if you want and tbh most her nervous energy is focused on dustin because she swears 11 times a week that he's gonna cause her a stroke from stress
your lil brother loves movie nights with you!! he'll sit in the middle of you and steve because he can't read the room
you're both super over protective of him; one time some kids in school gave him shit for his cleidocranial dysplasia and you and steve basically corned them in the parking lot
he tries to rope you both into playing d&d and it only worked once
overall, you're like a little family and dustin loves it

i don’t want an eddie argyle jonathan steve polycule, i NEED an eddie argyle jonathan steve polycule
and here’s why;
firstly, no offense, but steddie (and eddie in general) is just another dude the Suffer Brothers ‘made’ to replace Jonathan- its the same thing, in a different font. a much more flirty font.
but it’s still cute- a bit over sold, maybe- or that’s just my bias as a hard core stonathan shipper- but i definitely felt ‘let down’ after actually watching season 4, the fandoms portrayal or hype of it was not at all what i saw- but it, admittedly, is still pretty neat- (not as neat as stonathan, in my stonathan opinion, because he’s a flirty metal copy of jon made to be frenimies with steve)
secondly, as much as i love stonathan- i love jargyle with all my second heart. mainly because Agryle is Jonathan’s first source of comfort in his LIFE, and they’re cute and stupid together and i love them <3
thirdly, eddie and jonathan DEFINITELY knew eachtoher- i refuse to believe they didn’t. outcasts, freak, know DnD, cough, daddy issues, cough, enjoy children (Eddie kidnapped them to play DnD, and Jonathan is the world #1 father brother) smoke weed(i know jonathan started with Argyle, but still, he COULD have started before), all about music, (jonathan even has Enter Sandman by Metallica on his official spotify playlist, so they have similar kinds too) and had some beef with Steve they’re the puppy extrovert and trust issues cat introvert but as outcast freaks <33
fourthly, why have ONE freak boyfriend when you can have TWO. why have ONE total stoner when you can have THREE (sorta four? steve’s not all about drugs, but he’s done them before)
fifthly, they ALL do weed n shit- even Steve does, in season three he says “it’s only marijuana, dAd-” argyle and jonathan obviously get high together, eddie deals them and has them, and steve does it too, just not as much
so you have ur four stoner boyfriends high as fuck after traumatic evens <33
sixth, Argyles whole thing is “Try before you deny,” so Eddie Jon would force Steve to listen to their type of music, and Argyle would pin him down like Mike to prevent him from leaving
seventh, they’re ALL decent with kids for different reasons on different levels
Eddie: went around adopting highschool kids to play a game
Steve: is a great sassy babysitter mom
Argyle: drove el and will (and jon) around wherever they wanted, and made food for all them, and went along with no questions asked, he’d get the kids to try new things! like pineapple on pizza
Jonathan: it’s obvious. i don’t really need to explain it, hes been a parent for a decade to Will snd the best brother in the world
eighth: nancy can be the cool divorced (broke up with steve and jon) aunt and robins the cool wine aunt, nancy makes sure they’re not stupid, and robin spoils them rotten
possibily eden can show up and be the cool goth aunt, robin and nancy deserve her
ninth: imagine the CUDDLE piles oh my GODS <3
tenth: now Eddie has ppl to make campaigns with him!
eleventh: jonathan and FAMILY PHOTOS <33333
twelve: it’s gonna be a huge t4t polycule, because they are ALL trans in some way <3
thirteenth: bc it’s transphobic if you disagree lolsies haha

The slowburn, getting-together storyline between Eddie and Steve gets angsty (it's what we love to see!) but aside from that, I love how in this universe we get to see Steve happy - he's got a whole new big family who loves and supports him (and keeps trying to nudge him in he right direction romantically despite everything). I wonder what the family dynamics are like, aka how the family views Steve post final battle - Jonathan, Will and El (and by extension, Mike) become siblings because he essentially (or officially?) gets adopted into the Hoppers-Byers clan, where he gets a new mom and dad in Joyce and Hop too (Side note - so in love w El and Steve's relationship here). Max is obviously a little sister (another favourite dynamic) - I'm also assuming that Steve's the only one she traveled for to tell him about the wedding in person and waited to do so because she cares about his thoughts the most? Dustin and Lucas are brothers too - Lucas tells him as much at the wedding + Robin still very much gives platonic soulmate, I-know-you-the-best energy. We get so many stories that are dark and angsty, it's just really nice to see one against the backdrop of a big, supportive found family. I'm also such a sap for stories that champion important platonic relationships as much as romantic ones!
thank you!! i love a romance, but i totally agree: platonic relationships are just as important, if not more important, and we need to tell more stories about them!!
also for this rest:
you can blame jim hopper on this one. in my opinion, in any universe, jim takes one look at steve and is just like (dj khaled voice) another one. it happens slowly, for him, reluctantly. he learns about him in the fall of ‘83 — it’s hard not to clock that fucked up eye on the one kid in the hospital room that doesn’t have parents present, jim’s a very observant man with (previously) little to occupy his time — but he doesn’t like involve himself with steve until the next fucked up adventure they all go on.
and then it’s ‘84 and he’s half-dead on joyce’s sofa and he’s mumbling about how his parents are in germany on business and don’t call they won’t come back, and also he’s not wild about hospitals plus it’ll just upset them, make them look bad, and jim’s like what the absolute fuck. so he takes this kid home for a lot of reasons, some of them the way he protected the other kids, some of them eleven’s big eyes when she hears the mumbles, none of them how this boy is the same age as sarah should’ve been —
steve spends a week in jim’s cabin, healing. and he’s sweet with el and patient and listens as she haltingly talks, nods along and doesn’t push, just waits, watches cartoons with her and laughs at the same jokes, and even if the kid is like “oh it’s just because we’re on the same emotional intelligence level” — yeah, get out of here with that shit, kid, thinks jim. boy’s got a heart on him that’s got nothing to do with his daddy, and jim just lets him come and go as he pleases after that, bringing groceries and making them all dinner and letting el help him with his homework and jim just — decides not to look to closely at it.
so that’s how it starts. to paraphrase a line from another story i’m working on (not remarkable verse) about these two: this kid that jim didn’t want but got, this kid who quietly made space for himself in the heart that jim burnt out — well, jim always did want a son.
(in the summer of ‘86, it’s easier for jim to acknowledge that space, to pry it open wide and let the rest of them in and drag his emotionally stunted children with anxiety disorders along with him. the byers are his step kids, and nancy’s an in-law, and jim supposes max’s is his too since she’s steve’s and lucas is an in-law too, and wheeler ugh fine, and christ okay there’s henderson too, his mom is doing a great job but it takes a village, right? and then that buckley girl is along for the ride, she’s basically handcuffed to steve so there’s another one, and he’s not sure what the deal is with the kid from california but fuck it he might as well parent this one. and munson, well, wayne clearly needs all the help he can get there.)
(with six you get egg roll, he thinks; even though the math on that doesn’t quite check out, the sentiment remains and jim’s gonna need a bigger house.)

i love your post talking about single dad Steve. single dad/teen dad steve is one of my favourite tropes.
theres two things that bug me a little about the way the fandom approaches this trope
the first is the instant steddie that happens in too many fics. like steve barely gets chance to hold the baby before he and eddie are together and fully co-parenting. it's not really single parent steve if he has someone to co-parent with? sure, have eventual steddie, but if its supposed to be single dad steve give him time as a single parent, of course hed have robin and eddie and everyone supporting him, but at the end of the day he's got sole responsibility and no co-parent.
and the second is the amount of fics in the single parent/teen parent steve tags on ao3 that are just steddie acting as the party's parents. if I'm looking for parent steve i want actual parent steve, where he has parental responsibility of a kid that may or may not be his biologically (result of a one night stand, a kid that came of his father's affairs, fostering or adopting after the earthquake), not him acting as a surrogate parent to a bunch of teens that are just 4 years younger than him that all have parents anyway. he's like their brother, not their parent.
single dad steve is so fun!!!
yeah that was a big thing about the post I made because like, single dad steve (whether to a party member or an actual steve baby) is almost always a vehicle for shipping. (most often st*ddie but im sure its used by at least one or two other pairings) which is frustrating bc like... im here for steve and the baby! not the ship!! Those fics /can/ be fun but it's often not what I'm looking for esp when Steve has a pretty fun support network already!
I forgot that so many people tag Steve "parenting" the party with single parent Steve 😭 bc yeah that's not... Most of the party has at least one good parent! Like ig Max's mom isn't great but like I still would say they have more of a sibling relationship than a parental one. Even in those fics where Steve straight up adopts max after S4 (which I'll admit... Are a guilty pleasure but he gets too parental in those too tbh - that's a dif post tho lmao). Tbh this fandom isn't very good at tagging. The amount of fics tagged "everybody lives/nobody dies" but it's literally just talking about Eddie and max and maybe Chrissy.... Like that's not how that tag is used 😭 some people live/not everyone dies exists for a reason!
I digress though, it's so hard to find some good fic concepts without it all just being avenues for shipping. Like I get it I write a lot of ship oriented stuff too but I also lovveee platonic shit so much! So. Much.

10 Things I Hate About You steddie au
(note this is a modern au because i didn't want to deal with homophobia and also the fruity four are all in the same grade because it's easier)
steve and nancy have been close since they were kids, they dated their freshman year before realizing they were better as friend
but they still go to all their school dances together because nancy asked steve to help her and he's still totally whipped (friendship addition)
they also both realized they were bi when they were sophomores and are out and proud because why not
steve still has a reputation among the school because he's a giver ;) so he and nancy are the king and queen of hawkins high (also steve is still a basketball star which helps)
but he's not great at romance because anytime a date is like 'wanna go to homecoming?' he's like 'but i'm going with nancy???'
(he's a bit of a himbo but we love him anyway)
nancy is kind of the untouchable ultimate prize at the school, so naturally every guy wants her, if only for the clout
(hence going with steve to every school dance)
enter billy hargrove
billy obviously decides he's going to take queen nancy to senior prom if it kills him, because it will get him so many cool points
but first he has to get steve out of the way
his father, an even bigger douchebag, is the one who comes up with the idea of paying someone to seduce king steve, even offering to fund the endeavor
(max is not aware of this plot, because billy knows full well she'd snitch to her favorite babysitter in 2 seconds if she knew)
speaking of max - steve and nancy have been friends for ages. so obviously steve knows nancy's dorky little brother. one time their sophomore year, nancy was supposed to babysit mike but she wanted to investigate something for the school paper and convinces steve to take her place
mike has all his friends over, and steve ends up getting along with them really well and starts hanging out with them and the next thing he knows he's a single mom of seven
quick overview of the kids:
will was missing for a week when he was ten and he was discovered kidnapped two states over with his bio dad
el is hopper's adoptive daughter and will's stepsister and pseudo twin. she was raised in foster care and did not have a good time
dustin is still dustin, and latches onto steve immediately
lucas is steve's basketball protege
erica is still cooler than all of them
and max is still billy's stepsister and spends 90% of her time avoiding home whenever possible because her mom is a drunk and billy and neil are... billy and neil
(steve figures this out and unofficially takes her in)
steve and nancy are semi-friends with jonathan but he mostly hangs out with argyle smoking pot (hopper is resigned)
anyway billy needs the perfect candidate to sweep steve off his feet, and he finds it in eddie munson
eddie is a year older than the rest of them because he was held back his freshman year since that was the year his mom died and his dad went to jail
(A/N no shade to eddie, btw. i failed half my classes sophomore year and dropped out junior year because i had a nervous breakdown and was in iop treatment and later discovered i was physically disabled so like, eddie bby i feel you)
eddie runs hellfire, the dnd club, and sells drugs, and there's rumors he killed someone so billy's like 'he's perfect'
(eddie did not kill anyone. chrissy od'd in front of him and he saved her and brought her to the hospital but rumors gonna rumor)
eddie's best friend is robin, who's had a crush on nancy for years but is too afraid to ask her out despite nancy being out as bi
eddie hates steve, btw, because steve is rich and handsome and popular and on the basketball team and also steve was a dick to him when he was a freshman before he and nancy realized they were bi and eddie holds a hella grudge
so eddie's like, i get payed to pretend to fall in love with king steve and afterwards i can pull one over him? plus i get to watch billy totally fail to bag nancy wheeler? (because he's well aware this is going to blow up in billy's face) i'm in!
robin's less enthused, but she agrees to keep quiet about everything despite feeling icky about the situation
so eddie asks steve out. and because steve being a dick when they were freshmen was really steve pulling eddie's pigtails, he's quietly ecstatic
'nancy, /eddie munson/ asked me out! isn't that great?'
and nancy's a little suspicious, because the vibes she got were that eddie hates steve, but she chalks it up to eddie also pulling steve's pigtails and just warns him to be careful
(spoiler: it was absolutely eddie pulling steve's pigtails. he's hella jealous, he just won't admit it to himself)
so eddie and steve start dating, and steve introduces eddie to his kids, and eddie dm's for them, and he gets to know steve, and
oh shit
oh shit he's /nice/
and hot and sweet and kind of a dork?
(meanwhile robin continues to pine for nancy, and because their best friends are dating they start hanging out and 'eddie this is terrible! she's so pretty and smart and badass and -')
eddie starts feeling really guilty for everything and tries to call it off, but billy offers even more money, and look, there's a reason he's a drug dealer while still in high school, okay? they have bills!
so eddie goes to the kids to help him convince steve to take him to prom instead of nancy, and as incentive offers to hook nancy up with robin so she's still covered
and steve asks nancy her permission, and nancy likes robin so she's like 'hell yeah'
cue prom night
steve and eddie and nancy and robin are all having a blast when billy shows up and starts yelling at eddie that 'i payed you to seduce harrington so i could bag wheeler! why is your dyke friend going with her?'
steve's like 'wtf eddie is that true?' and eddie's like 'it's not what you think!' and steve bolts, eddie following close behind
nancy proceeds to deck billy and kick him in the balls, just like the movie, because that scene is perfect, then threatens to shoot him if he comes near any of them again
meanwhile eddie catches up with steve only for steve to slap him and yell for like five full minutes and he's crying and eddie has never seen steve cry and 'oh god this is awful, i'm the worst'
also - i want robin to have some consequences for knowing and not speaking up. i want nancy to tear her a new one. obviously they make up later but i feel like nancy would be pissed that robin knew and never said anything and steve got hurt because of it
'i trusted you! i trusted you and eddie and you were lying the whole time! i knew something was off, i never should've trusted you!'
nancy and steve proceed to isolate and cut off everyone but the kids (and maybe jonathan)
the kids, meanwhile, who had loved eddie, are horrified
max confronts billy for the first time to scream at him and when she finds out neil was involved she's like 'fuck it i'm moving out'
(Protect Max Mayfield 2022)
idk if she moves in with steve or the hopper-byers but either way she's fucking furious at eddie
and dustin and mike, who'd both begun to really look up to eddie, are incredibly betrayed. they can't believe he'd hurt steve like that
and of course english class was studying sonnets and steve, with nancy's help, writes The Poem and reads it to the class before breaking down and crying, again, and nancy is giving eddie death glares and meanwhile eddie is just... /so/ guilty
the kids decide to band together and confront eddie only to find him wallowing, a complete mess, and he confesses he really is in love with steve and he ruined it
so they decide to help him find a way to make it up to steve (after yelling at him for a while, because he shouldn't be let off the hook just because he's in love and sorry)
idk how eddie would make it up, but steve eventually forgives him and they all live happily ever after
the end

It’s so funny to me how people take what Steve said so literally like, lmao, he said it was his dream! But well, at least Steve tells Nancy the truth, he opens up like that after they’ve been through a few scary and intense experiences, unlike SOME PEOPLE who can’t admit the truth to Nancy, making her believe whatever just because they’re too much of a coward to tell her the truth. Steve is talking about his old hopes and dreams to her and it’s genuine, he’s not meaning to convince her to have that dream with him, and yet she does say it’s a nice dream. Idk, I just think it’s a sweet thing, that he imagined a life with her and it probably has to do with everything he ever wanted to have as a kid. (Brothers and sisters and loving parents and a family that does things together…) I think it’s great that he can voice these feelings he has. Go, Steve!
Yes to all of this!! It's such a sweet moment, especially when you think about him being an only child with what kind of seems to be absent parents, dreaming of having that loving family who goes on adventures. Spending time with all the kids probably played a part into creating that dream (also now I'm thinking about how "babysitting" the gang has kind of been his opportunity to be an older sibling and how robin is kind of like a sister to him 😢). It's just so weird to me that people watched this scene and took from it that Steve was trying to manipulate her or force her into something. That's NOT the Steve we know AT ALL!! I've said it so many times already (and so have many others) and I'll say it once again: Nancy is the most important part. Nancy is the dream. Whatever their lives look like, whether they have kids or not, whether they adopt or he works at a daycare or whatever the case may be, Nancy is who matters.
And you're so right to focus on the fact that Steve is able to be open and voice his feelings while a certain other person hasn't been capable of that. I understand why J0nathan hasn't been able to be honest about everything, because when you sense a relationship ending it's hard and you want to hold onto it, but it was also probably extremely difficult for Steve to open up about his feelings, especially considering how completely vulnerable he was (he could have just been like "you know i kind of like you still" but instead he was completely honest with her) and how he could have had to face rejection once again, which would be so painful, especially on top of how vulnerable he was.
It really is so telling that while Steve is opening up about his feelings and what he wants, we see J0n regressing and keeping everything in. It gives me hope for a stancy endgame because why else would we end the season with Steve being open while J0n is dishonest and hides how he's really feeling.

Oh, oh!
I also wanted to say that I like that Steve is not the 'tiny, petite, slender' Omega in this story.
A lot of stories do have the Omega as that and I can totally understand why but it sometimes also makes me sad because I know I am not tiny or slender and sometimes I think that makes me less 'female' in a way. Or less attractive to people.
Which I also know is stupid but well.... your own thoughts tend to be your worst enemy so yeah. 😞
Just glad that Steve is not tiny or 'weak' in this fic and Billy loves him anyway. That Billy even finds it a turn on, a good thing. I really like that. 😊
Ohhhh YES the smol Omega thing.
Listen. Size difference is very much one of my favorite tropes to write, especially in Omegaverse because regardless of the Omega's relative size to their Alpha, I tend to write them as capable and smart and maybe even dangerous in their own way, and all those attributes are made so much more fun when the Omega is like. Pocket Sized.
In Marvel especially, we get Tony who is arguably not actually all that small, like 5 8 is completely average height. But I always exaggerate out the size of my Alphas (and super soldiers in general) so a very pretty 5 8 next to an absolutely hulking 6 4 and 250 pounds+ of sheer super powered muscle makes for EXCELLENT scenes. Or like, Spideypool. I use Andrew Garfield for my Peter Parker and it's not like he's short, he's a solid 5 10 or 5 11 but especially in the movies he's very slender and very baby faced and I LOVE him next to an absolutely ripped and six foot plus Wade, like have you seen Comic!Wade's size? Thighs of Death INDEED.
But I actually really love that Steve and Billy (and Eddie, but that's a different vibe all together) are basically the same size. Arguably Billy is wider/stronger and Steve is taller and less defined but basically. Same size. There's no several inch height difference, no real discernible weight or muscle advantage, Steve doesn't automatically look submissive just because he's shorter (the open mouth pout and hair does it for him c'monnnnnnn) and I LOVE it.
Not only does it give us really great moments like in Risk where Billy does surprise Steve by being able to pick him up or where Billy just heart eyes when his mate can drag him in for a damn near violent kiss, and then too, moments where Steve can straighten up and lower his voice and go from a slouchy pretty thing to a full on force to be reckoned with. He IS strong enough to drag his Alpha out of a bad situation, he's strong enough to stand down Neil, strong enough to protect the kids and that's so important for Billy at this point in his life.
I really think Billy would be one of those guys who needs a PARTNER in all things, not just a spouse. He needs someone who can stand on their own two feet and then also help HIM stand when he can't. Needs an Omega who WANTS to be taken care of because that means Steve is actively choosing him instead of just letting biology dictate it all. Billy doesn't want someone to roll over and submit but he needs someone he can also feel safe with and the repeated emphasis in this fic of Steve looking at him eye to eye, not submitting, straightening up and getting stern, flat out saying no, grabbing and pushing and pulling or REFUSING to be grabbed and pushed and pulled-- I love it. He is exactly what Billy needs.
And also? I HEAR you about always feeling big/not feminine. I am a WOC adopted into and raised with a conservative yt family and let me tell you. I never once, never ONCE felt like I was small and pretty and petite and feminine like all the other girls at school or the pretty little yt girls my brothers married. My hair was kinky and curly and I got hips and tiddies and a period when I was barely 11. Went from little girls clothing straight into a size 4-6 in womens (juniors fashion in the early 2000s was NOT kind to anyone with curves). I couldn't trade clothes with friends, I had big feet (turns out a size 8 isn't actually big??) I couldn't squish into chairs with everyone and in group pictures I just looked... well to steal a line from Ms Taylor-- like the monster on the hill. Even when the Kardashians (barf) decided that having super intense curves were popular and my body type was finally accepted as sexy (jessica rabbit!) versus "too big", it didn't help matters. Not even a pretty fucking severe eating disorder changed that my hips were just that wide or my shoulders were just wide and it was YEARS before I felt even slightly pretty or feminine or anything close to it. Even now on the rare occasions when I date peen-owners, I feel awkward cos unless they are of the over six foot variety, generally speaking? I outweigh them. And nothing triggers my eating disorder issues like realizing they probably couldn't pick me up and carry me and ohhhhhh my god I just realized why I write my Alphas so goddamn big. I just-- like truthed myself into figuring out one of my kinks, fucking yikes.
Anyway. I hear you on that. I get it. I had so much fun purposefully writing Steve in this fic and I'm so glad it spoke to you.

Happy Birthday Billy
Notes :
This is a future AU
Billy was adopted by the Sinclairs when he was four so his legal last name is Sinclair
I am working on a fic that goes into the past so please let me know if interested
Summary: it's Billy's birthday and Steve has plans
....?.............
Billy woke up and turned over.
The other side of the bed was empty.
He looked at the clock, it said 7am and he groaned. “What was Steve doing up so damn early?” Billy asked in the empty room.
Getting up he slipped some pants on and went off to find his other half of the last forty years.
His head spun when he thought about that and how old they were.
He checked each room and yet no Steve.
When he got to the kitchen he saw a note on the counter.
“Sorry I wasn't home whenever you got up but our daughter needed me to watch our grandson who fell sick and she had to work.
Love you and can you come and pick me up at 5 because my car's battery finally died”
Love you,
Steve”
Billy groaned. What the hell was he supposed to do all day? It was a Wednesday but being retired meant he had nowhere to be.
The rest of Billy's day consisted of fixing every squeaky door and window in the house.
Around 4 he headed to the store to get some soup for his grandson and a couple frozen pizzas for them.
When he got to his daughter's house he couldn't help but notice the number of cars parked around the house.
“Wonder what the neighbors are up too” he thought to himself as he headed to the door and knocked.
Steve opened the door. He looked tired. “How did one kid kick you in the ass that much Harrington?” Billy asked handing him the bag with soup in it.
Steve looked at the bag a bit confused but quickly said “thanks, sweetie. Our grandson will love this”.
Billy raised an eyebrow but let it slide. Steve was always a bit odd.
“Are you going to let me in or are we just going to converse right here?” Billy asked, getting a bit apprehensive.
Steve smiled and asked, “do you know what day it is Billy”?
“Yeah it's Wednesday I'm not that dense yet,” Billy said, trying to control his anger.
“I mean the date?” Steve asked quietly. “No I didn't look at the damn calendar now move it, Harrington,” Billy said and started inside.
Steve looked behind him, smiled, and let Billy pass.
When Billy entered the living room he heard “surprise, happy birthday Billy/dad/son/brother” and realized what this was and looked back at Steve and put his hands on his hips.
“You got me this time Harrington,” he said and pulled Steve in for a deep kiss.
“Welcome to 56 Sinclair,” Steve said and kissed him back as the others joined in.
Sue and Charles came over. “Happy birthday son. You've become an amazing man you know that” Charles said hugging him.
“I knew that day 52yrs ago when I met you in California you were going to be an amazing person, and you are. Happy birthday son” Sue said and gave him a huge hug.
Billy hugged her back trying to keep from crying. “Thanks, mom, I love you so much,” Billy said.
“Happy birthday bro,” Lucas said and gave him a hug followed by Erica and Max.
Then his daughter, grandson and friends all took turns wishing him a happy birthday.
After presents and cake, Billy and Steve went and watched the sunset from the porch swing.
“Forty years ago today we kissed for the first time on my sixteenth birthday and you have owned me since.
Also on that same note, "You know I hate parties” Billy said, taking a long drink from his can of beer.
“I will never forget that day but I can't believe you didn't know it was your birthday,” Steve said laughing. “At this age, it's just another day” Billy retorted following up with “thank you though. It was a great surprise” he said as he kissed his husband softly.
The two snuggled up together and watched the sunset before heading back in.
Later that night as they were falling asleep Billy asked “was our grandson even sick”?
“You will never know. Here's to many years to come. Happy birthday Billy” Steve said, cuddled against Billy's chest and the two of them fell asleep.
