Stranger Things: Max Mayfield: ISTP 6w5
Myers Briggs: ISTP
Ti: Max is very analytical. She understands how things work in the world around her, and applies that logical understanding to the Upside Down. She quickly figures out how Vecna’s curse works based on the files she reads, and despite not being a “nerd” like her friends, often surprises them with logical insights. She makes logical, impartial decisions, even risking her life selflessly, because she knows it is the best course of action. She always argues based on logic as opposed to emotion when convincing her friends of her point, even in emotionally charged situations. She’s good at “hacking” different aspects of the Upside Down with her Ti- like using the Sauna Test on Billy when he’s possessed by the Mind Flayer.
Se: Max is very impulsive and trusts her gut. She lives in the moment, pursuing what she wants and not thinking about future repercussions, like when she takes Jane to the mall in Season Three. She does, however, fall into a Ti- Ni loop in Season Four, not living in the moment and withdrawing inward. She is very physically active and enjoys skateboarding. She is practical and more interested in the immediate world than her “nerdy” friends, preferring to improvise than to learn the theoretical explanations of the Upside Down.
Ni: Max likes to develop a plan before leaping into action. She uses her internal logic to assess the situation first, then formulates a plan using those same Ti hacks. She’s good at laying out a detailed plan for how to solve any Upside Down related problem, coming up with clever, creative solutions. She is intuitive about the Upside Down and good at drawing conclusions from the available information about Vecna’s plan.
Fe: Max is selfless and willing to sacrifice herself to save her friends and the world. She doesn’t find it easy to open up to people, especially after the trauma she experiences, but finds it helpful to work through her emotions with Lucas when she feels ready. In season two, she is hurt when her friends don’t tell her things about the Upside Down, because she wants to feel part of the group. She wants to be on the same page as her friends, and is upfront about her feelings in order to do so.
Enneagram: cp6w5
Max values her friendships above everything. She tries hard to be accepted by her friends, and is always loyal to them even when it’s difficult. She faces issues head on, looking to solve problems with the help of her friends rather than running in the opposite direction. She is cautious and likes to gather data before making a decision, using knowledge to help her solve problems.

Been doing my annual re-watch of Stranger Things, and although Mike does show a lot of 2, ultimately he's a reactive type (6w7) so I have changed his Enneagram type. I wrote this explanation:
Initially, I thought Mike was a 2 and typed him as such, but in my re-watching having since learned more about the various types, I see a lot of 6w7 “reactivity” in him. Being a reactive type is all about the sharing of raw emotions, and wanting people to respond in a similar way—for a 6, the need to convince people to agree with you, and we see this a lot in his constant clashes with Lucas, his “best friend” and a 6w5. Both of them differ on their opinion of El in the first season; Lucas is reactive and suspicious of her and her intentions, blaming her for everything and thinking she’s working against them, and Mike, because he’s attracted to El, is angrily reactive against Lucas for not accepting her, giving her a second chance, and thinking the best of her, as he tends to do—but he can also pivot on a dime, and be reactive against her when she hurts Lucas (angrily accusing her of being mean to Lucas, of misleading them, and of taking them to the quarry to find Will’s body – “Why did you do that??”). The reactivity continues into later seasons, with him being angry about the group accepting Max and refusing to have anything to do with her (he sees them as replacing El), with him defying Hopper and beating on him/screaming at him, etc. Mike moves back and forth between angst, paranoia, and being a generous and loving boy. He is fearful, but protective; welcoming but aloof; ping-ponging back and forth between his need to care for everyone (especially those weaker than himself) and defy adults, yet he always turns to them. Initially when he finds El, he wants her to go to his mom, trusting her (an authority) to handle it. Then he becomes nervous about her being in danger, and insists they avoid authority. His 7 wing can never quite leave him alone in negativity—he wants to believe the best in El, he wants to have fun, he takes great enjoyment out of being the head of the group, but he can also be self-absorbed at times, pushing away his friends’ needs out of a desire to vanish into El’s company as he gets older (trading his friend group for a girlfriend). But Mike can be somewhat pushy in a social 6 way, in that he wants others to agree with his opinions, and is rather intolerant when they don’t (as seen when he refuses to accept Max, and is upset that the others are doing their own thing). He also finds it hard to make up with Lucas when they differ on anything, since both of them stubbornly don’t want to be the first person to admit they were wrong. As the threat level increases, Mike becomes more and more concerned with personal safety and loyalty to his friends, wanting to ensure nothing bad happens to any of them, but also finding it hard to let go of them. He flip-flops between thinking Will is dead and being mad at El for leading him to believe otherwise, and then immediately embracing the idea that he’s alive and they can find and rescue him (positive thinking).

this is my stranger things personality analysis. I went off the personality types of the enneagram since they cover the deep desires and fears of an individual. this isn't every character, just the ones I feel like are shown enough to analyze.
-
mike: 2w3. his deepest desire is to be loved, and he develops unhealthy attachments styles in order to keep that love. he pours himself into his friendships and his relationships, and often becomes consumed, appearing codependent or selfish. however his love for those around him are always prevalent in his mind, always worrying for those he loves with the fear of losing them. his greatest desire to be loved makes it harder for him to be vulnerable to those he already loves, devoting hours of time worrying they will leave him if they really know who he really is. he doesn't trust those who could jeopardize the love of his friends, and he often hates change because it could take them away from him as well.
lucas: 6w5. he wants to be safe and secure, his deep love for his friends are what make him feel safe. he would do anything for them, anything, but he also has a hard time trusting. he joins other groups when his current foundation is rocky. be wants to find security, find safety, find peace of mind. but his trust still lacks in them, and in the end his loyalty is always to those he loves and calls home.
dustin: 5w6. his greatest desire is to be knowledgeable. he wants to be the smartest person in the room and often is. however his loyalty to his friends and family create someone who not only wants to learn just to learn, but he wants to learn to help them. he uses his knowledge as a super power and finds pride in how he can save the world with his mind.
steve: 3w2. his greatest desire is to be significant or worthy. steve fears leaving hawkins or highschool because then he might no longer be the legendary steve harrington. the idea of failure is so overwhelming to him he just chooses not to try. however, his deep love for the people around him is what gives him a new found purpose. if he doesn't have fame and popularity from the world, the love and approval from those around him can suffice.
eleven: 1w9. el's greatest desire is to be good. he greatest fear is to be bad or evil, and she strives for peace of mind over her flaws. she over compensates by trying to do good acts all the time, trying to protect those around her, trying to maintain the peace no matter the cost. she loves her friends and family deeply, and her deep desire for good helps her fight against anything else corrupt along the way. she doesn't let a lot of people in because her whole life she was afraid when they saw who she really was, they would see how bad she thinks she is. though she is always capable of standing up for herself and others, she often needs a reminder from loved ones that she isn't what her thoughts tell her. she isn't what's bad, she isn't what's evil. she might take on the blame, but she is everything that's good and lovable.
eddie: 7w8. eddie's deepest desire is to be free. all he wants is to be free from hawkins, free from the bullies, free from the judgment. he values fun and adventure above all else. he often tries to give this freedom and justice for individuality on to his peers because he knows what its like to feel smothered by expectations. his want to be free often gives him the reaction to run and hide when in danger. he values his independence, and the idea of being locked up or bound by death is his greatest fear. however, his desire for justice of those around him actually frees him from the weight of the future in the end.
max: 8w9. max's greatest desire is justice and independence, and her greatest fear is to be powerless. max often cuts people out of her life to make herself feel more in control of her life. they can't hurt her if they're far away. she feels powerless when vulnerable, yet when she does open up her devotion to those she loves is unwavering. she will always stand up for those who deserve it, stand up against the bullies, fight for theirs and her peace of mind. even if it means giving up her independence and control to do it.
nancy: 1w2. nancy fears being seen as anything but perfect. her deepest desire to be perfect and good at everything she touches, and often times she is. she strives for perfection in her education, her career, and in her social life. the thought of others seeing her as anything but perfect terrifies her, which often prevents from people ever truly being let in to see the real nancy wheeler. nancy's desire for good also makes her amazing at fighting against what is evil. her devotion to those around her also make her a wonderful bodyguard, because she will do anything to protect her loved ones. the thought of not protecting them if often projected onto herself not being as good as she could be, and taking on the blame of others demise.
will: 9w1. his greatest desire is to be at peace. he wants to be seen but not as something others might see as bad or condemned. he wants people to look at him and understand him and just always love and appreciate his presence. his deep desire to for his inner peace often reflects into his actions for his friends, always making sure they feel peace in their lives even if he doesn't. his want for peace makes him inheritly selfless, but it also causes bitterness to stir when those around him don't allow him the same amount of serenity. his greatest insecurity is that he is invisible and irrelevant, and when his people pleasing personality kicks in, it causes others to put him last. he would do anything for his friends but he often doubts they would remember to do anything for him.

Jonathan Byers' MBTI Type, Big Three and Enneagram Type
Tumblr media
MBTI Type: ISFP [The Adventurer]
ISFP types need plenty of personal space. Though they enjoy building connections with people, they need alone time to think and recharge.
They are very observant, especially focusing on the details more than the overall view. They live in the present and tend to base decisions on what they can see right now.
Adventurers also prioritize emotion when making decisions. They prefer to follow what feels right.
They don’t like schedules, but instead prefer to keep their options open. They are adaptable, spontaneous, and like to challenge the need for strict rules.
Big Three: Scorpio Sun, Cancer Moon and Aquarius Rising
Scorpio Sun: Ruled by Mars and Pluto, the Scorpio Sun is known to be intense, mysterious, and ever-evolving.
Cancer Moon: The emotions of Cancer Moons have no limits, restraints, or depths. This is a cosmic placement that often leads to sweetness, kindness, emotional awareness and responsibility.
Aquarius Rising: This rising sign can speak lucidly on a number of topics, using their lofty knowledge to charm crowds and solve problems alike.
Enneagram Type: 4w5 [The Free Spirit]
Basic Fear: Four wing fives fear having no impact on the world. They may be reserved, but they seek recognition and admiration.
Basic Desire: They desire their own personal identity, and may retreat within themselves to discover who they really are.
Free Spirits tend to defend themselves either by withdrawing from others or adapting characteristics of loved ones.

Cancer Rising: Cancer ascendants tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves and take care of those they love.
Enneagram Type: 3w2 [The Enchanter]
Basic Fear: Enneagram type three wing twos are afraid of failing and being unworthy of love. They avoid this by setting and accomplishing goals, in order to feel successful and worthy.
Basic Desire: Their basic desire is to be admired and accepted. They seek value through accomplishment, which may push them deeper into their work.
Enchanters tend to adjust their persona to their audience, in order to feel as though they are easily liked, which may lead to playing a character rather than being themselves.

Nancy Wheeler’s MBTI
Introduction
Hello there this is gonna be kinda of a rant post because I want to start making another series of character breakdowns however im very torn in which one I want to start however I am currently in a dilemma over Nancy’s MBTI. So id like to pose the 2 most likely types of hers and try to map it out. Please let me know of your opinions and your thoughts on all of this.
the most likely types for Nancy are: ESTJ or ENTJ. However I think its important to look at her enneagram since it affects her functions and such. I personally I believe Nancy’s enneagram is 1w2 sp/so Being an enneagram 1 can give her the look of an Si user too sometimes. Ive seen some people type her as an 3w2 sp/so however I am not fully sure about this since I think it only applies to S1 Nancy rather then her character all throughout the show.
Small Break down of Each Type
ESTJ (Te-Si-Ne-Fi)
Tumblr media
Im currently leaning the most towards ESTJ I think Nancy displays quite allot of Te all throughout the show and people who type her as an ESFJ are conflating kind behavior with Fe. But thats just a stereotype I get that in media there is this idea of high Te users being incredibly mean and irritable  but not every character is like this and using that metric to type is just bad. Now to her axis I think I can see a bit of Si in Nancy she is very usually very careful and sticks to maintaining step by step solutions. Also she doesn't seem to be working towards long term goals (or maybe im wrong about this) However couldn't everything I just said be traits of enneagram 1? Since I've seen people conflate these two allot look at Princess Leia Organa (ENTJ 8w9 or 1w2) who isn't interested in meticulous processes and details but for some reason we see her get typed as an ESTJ allot. I genuinely don't remember if Nancy was ever interested in details which leads me to another thing about details Se is also a detail oriented function; extroverted sensing details and introverted sensing details are different. One Is based on prior examining things through a subjective sense and the other one is based on objective observation. For example an Si user could understand every part of a clock while an Se user would look at the physical traits of it (color, material, temp etc...) Ive seen people debate that Nancy having a develop Ne is what makes people confuse her Si-Ne with Ni which I guess? However look at Sokka from ATLA (ESTJ 6w7) Even when he fully develops his Ne in Book 3 he still uses his Si allot and constantly narrows solutions with those by exploring those and I personally don't see Nancy interested in exploring all of those solutions in any capacity. Maybe the use of external pattern seeking?? but then again that could be Se? IDK guys let me know.
ENTJ (Te-Ni-Se-Fi)
Tumblr media
Allot of people use the “I know something happen to Barb” line in S1 as an explanation for her Ni however couldn't that just her going to Ne in stress trying to explore a possibility?. Also I do think I see more Ni than Ne I think Nancy does jump to conclusions a bit too fast sometimes. However I also see her step by step process (something an Ni user wouldn't be very fond of) Also she tends to be a bit too careful (but again E1). Also she doesn't seem to be quite as impulsive as an ENTJ would be even some E1 can be quite impulsive such as Light Yagami from death note (but I think thats quite debatable since Light kinda borders the line between impulsive and careful quite allot in the show). Also next to Se I don't see much Se in Nancy she doesn't seem to be that interested in Te-Se processes like other ENTJ would (unless again I missed something) she seems to be quite careful and sturdy with her processes rather than rushing head on like allot of ENTJ do allot the time. However again I could be assuming her Se is well develop same with her Ne. I could see how she tunnel visions allot in the show and how she tends to hyper focused on goals allot of the times making her struggle with her Se but I don't think thats quite enough to type her as an ENTJ how many other charcaters with other types have focused on goals too hard and ended up losing track of themselves?.
Idk guys sorry for the long rant post I am just very curious to map this out I usually am very certain of a charcaters typing however this one Is just weird maybe I missed something's so please let me know your thoughts below

Jamie Campbell Bower:
Quicktype: INFJ 4w3
Observations on myers briggs: He accurately predicts the show- he knew Vecna was the main villain before it was confirmed to him, which indicates Ni. Tends to unify everything he does- music and acting, indicating convergence of Ni. He is very intuitive about getting inside his character’s heads- NiFe. He is very personable and polite- Fe. He is methodical in his roles- Ti. He mentions having finally found a good work/ life balance- maybe struggles with living in the moment so inferior Se is likely. Se could be developing with age, he is in his thirties.
Observations on enneagram: He is very individualistic, authentic, identity based despite being Fe, which is why he is often typed as INFP but I see clear auxiliary Fe. He is sensitive and emotional, good at getting in touch with dark side for his roles. Sounds 4w3 to me, he is also very charming and socially conscious. Could have a 7 fix somewhere because he is a very positive person in interviews, reframes things to be more positive in a activity-/ fun- oriented way.

Here's my ultimate character profile template that helps define crucial details of any important character in your story, may additionally help with outline, plot holes, and even writer's block if you're stuck or losing interest:
Name:
Gender:
Personality type: (unnecessary, but may be helpful with making your cast diverse and assigning more realistic fears and desires, e.g., enneagram)
Desires: (what does your character want?)
Fears: (what keeps them from getting it?)
Beliefs and misbeliefs: (what does your character need to change their mind about in order to overcome their fear and get what they desire? There's also beliefs in this part, because some things your character believes in don't necessarily change, but if they can somehow affect the plot, why not mention it? It doesn't necessarily have to be bad)
Social life: (how does your character behave around their family? Their friends? Strangers? Rivals? Enemies?)
Addiction: (what habits does your character possess? What or who do they depend on? Do they always need something in their hands to fidget with? Or do they often ask for a light?)
Self image: (how does your character view themselves personally? What are their imperfections they feel bad about? What are the parts of their appearance they're proud of? Do not confuse with physical description!)
Physical decription: (do not confuse with the former! What does your character look like to others?)
Backstory: (here's your time to shine by using everything we established in previous parts by explaining the reason behind each (but not necessarily every single one) part. For example: where did your character's fears come from? Their desire? Their misbeliefs? The ugly scar they're so uneasy about? Why do they smoke or need fidget toys? Why are they more friendly to strangers than their own family? Etc.)
Here's the blank version to copy and paste into your projects. Feel free to use, change, ignore some parts, or add your own:
Name:
Gender:
Personality type:
Desires:
Fears:
Beliefs and misbeliefs:
Social life:
