thirdly, pathetic simon came to you one evening, asking if you had any extra pillows lying around because the ones in the guest room were leaving a crick in his neck. (which it didn't)

He knew that there weren't any. He had checked the house when you'd left to buy groceries with his money. (He ate three servings worth of food because he was so enamored with the fact that you cooked with what he provided)

Johnny was quick to offer one of their pillows in exchange.

Simon thanked him with a nod and went to bed.

He stayed up all night with the pillowcase in between his clenched fist pressed tightly into his face, sniffing it. It smelled like your favorite shampoo— that lotion you put on every evening before bed.

It even had a couple strands of your hair, which he wanted to loop around his left ring finger.

The next morning, you ask Simon how he slept, and he gives a soft grunt in response.
