1. What is your degree / favorite subject?

I’m majoring in Information Technology and Informatics (specifically, I’m studying Web Design), minoring in Creative Writing, and getting a certificate in Recording Arts!! My interests are all over the place.

2. Where are you from?

I’m from the United States and I live in the Eastern time zone. That’s as specific as I’m willing to get, sorry!!

3. What motivates you to study?

I’m motivated by the people I look up to, by my friends, and by myself. The people I look up to remind me that it takes hard work to achieve goals and that nothing is easy but anything is possible as long as I work hard. My friends remind me that I can get through whatever seemingly impossible task is in front of me and support me at my worst and my best. I remind myself that I’m finally studying what I love, something I’ve dreamed for a long time, and that there’s so much ahead of me that I can accomplish as long as I keep doing my best and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. And, well, there’s also the fact that I have to keep a pretty high GPA to stay in my program. At the end of the day, though, I love what I’m studying and even though it’s difficult at times, I just remind myself of my goals, that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be right now, and that I should never give up.

4. What do you love about yourself?

I love that I dream really big and that when I care about something, I really care about something. I feel very strongly about what I love, and it’s often that passion that motivates me to get stuff done.

5. What time do you do your best studying?

Anytime from early afternoon to early evening.

6. What is your favorite TV show?

Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place... basically anything Mike Schur writes.

7. Best self-care tip for exam season.

As important as it is to spend a lot of time studying, make sure you also take the time to do something for yourself, whether it be watching a movie you love, hanging out with friends, or taking a nap!! It’ll make exam season much less dreadful and refresh your brain before you study some more. Also, make sure you sleep enough and eat well.

8. Do you listen to music when you study?

Usually, yes. Music is what makes studying and doing homework more fun for me. Most of the time I just put one of my playlists or my whole Spotify library on shuffle, but sometimes I’ll listen to a specific album. There are occasionally times when I’ll get too overwhelmed for music and just need to work in silence, but that doesn’t happen too often. And, of course, when I’m working with friends around, I don’t put headphones in.

9. What is your favorite book?

Oh, gosh. I’m afraid to even try to answer this question!! I guess if I had to narrow it down to a few, I’d choose Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, the Shades of Magic series by V. E. Schwab, and What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera. Yes, I’ve read it. Yes, it’s perfect. Yes, you should absolutely get it once it comes out.

10. Where do you do your best studying?

Either in the library or in my room.

11. What do you get complimented on often?

I don’t know? Sometimes I get complimented on my handwriting, though it really isn’t that great. My friends tell me I can write well, though I don’t share my writing with other people very often.

12. Where would you like to live in the future?

NEW. YORK. CITY. I’ve spent so much time there over the course of my life, and it really has everything I need: musical theater (and regular theater), concerts, good food, good bookstores, public transportation (I hate driving and would much rather depend on my own two legs and the subway to get around), and more! There are also so many opportunities there for web design, writing, and music production, so I could pursue any and all of those without having to move around. What’s funny is that if you’d asked me this same question a year ago, I would have said Los Angeles. What’s even funnier is that until a few years ago, I HATED going to New York City since I consistently got sick every single time I went. Who knows where I’ll actually end up, but as of now, New York City is the goal.

13. How long have you been active on your studyblr?

I’ve had this blog since March 21, 2016, but I haven’t been the most consistent with posting on it. My goal for this year is to be more active both here and on my new studygram : )

14. Favorite way to spend study breaks?

I love watching TV, writing, reading, and hanging out with my friends.

15. What is your favorite study snack?

I love pretzels and Cheez-Its, though I’m trying to get out of the habit of eating while I’m studying.

ahhHHH thank you so much!! i’ve actually been working on “unravel” throughout this past summer break, but the first couple measures of the piece came to me pretty quickly (that feeling when inspiration suddenly hits you out of nowhere, hehe), so i just kept on building off of that. i’m so glad you like it, and i’m super excited for my future music, too!! hope you’re having a lovely day as well :’)

okay my Top Tip for fic reading is to click the pairing, and then filter it by kudos or hits, that way you get the most popular fics. the only major mckirk authors i can think of is canistakahari and ceres_libera. aside from them, these are all great fics, and my all time faves are bolded

Blergh, that’s frustrating and tiring, but good for you getting a head start on class next week. Good luck with the bullet journal, I know I could never keep one up and I always admire those who can.

the high priestess: what is your dream date?

A trip into town - somewhere like Covent Garden, maybe also to an art gallery. I like going on dates that still let me talk to the person and spend time with them - I’m not fond of movie dates, though theatre dates are more my speed. I think an absolute dream date would start with a trip through Covent Garden, and end with a trip to the theatre/the opera.

temperance: can you describe a strange dream you’ve had?

Can I ever. I have really weird dreams, generally, but here’s an especially weird one that I had last year, on my birthday. Small bit of background before I describe it: I went to bed at two am, and had watched Birdman the night before.

So, I dreamt that I was in my friend’s attic, and for whatever reason couldn’t get down to where he was. So, who should pop into my field of vision and provide a solution but Michael Keaton, dressed as Birdman. He tells me that if I go through this door that leads to the house next door, and go through that house, I can enter my friend’s house from the front door. It sounds legit enough to me, so I agree and walk with him into this neighbouring house. 

Here is where it transcends odd and takes a nosedive straight into mindfuck territory.

So the house in question is abandoned. And I’m not talking just empty - it’s abandoned, completely derelict, covered in cobwebs - you get the idea. And I’m in this sort of square-ish corridor/front-room thingy, with a door that leads into another room to my left. And I can see into the room, because the door is open, and in this room is a child’s vanity table, all pink and sparkly. And at this table is sitting a little girl, whose face suddenly pops into my vision because she tilts her head to the side like she’s in the fucking Shining and suddenly I can see her face in the mirror.

And it’s mine.

It is my. Face. My face from when I was six years old, but it’s distorted. It’s pulled in odd directions, and it looks like I’m viewing it through a funhouse mirror. She’s wearing an old, fluffy nightgown that I remember from my childhood. Michael Keaton (who is somehow still there) pulls me aside and tells me to ignore them, that they’re harmless. So I do, and we keep walking.

The corridor narrows, and it’s filled with girls like the one I saw earlier. They’re all dressed like I was at six, all with that long, straight hair I used to have. And they’ve all got distorted faces. And on the walls and the floor are missing persons posters, with my face on them. The distorted face that all the little girls also have.

I’m thoroughly creeped out, and I keep walking through the corridor. And as I get to the end, and to the door where Michael Keaton is standing, I turn around, and where the girls are is a sofa, with a man sitting on it, holding a black hat with a veil. I take it, and walk out of the flat.

And then I woke up.

hello friends! ahh sorry for all the stray kids related content lately! i’ll try to tone things down for my next few posts. anyway, this is something that i’ve been working on for the past couple weeks ever since their new album came out. after listening to “insomnia” a few times, i realized that it shared the same key signature as “grow up” from their debut album, so i thought that it would be fun to try to make a mashup! i hope you enjoy listening to this as much as i enjoyed arranging it!!
