I think it’s silly how in fics Danny’s like “oh thank the ancients” or otherwise using them as a stand in for “oh my god”. He beat half their asses bi weekly and they only made him stronger. He spits on their names like a Canadian who just got attacked by geese 

He is cocky and full of rage. He can and has fist fought several gods, no way is he respecting them.

Maybe clockwork and pandora, but no one else (nope, nvm on clockwork).

Anyway I think he should curse them out or use them in derogatory ways rather than use them as a curse

i was going to make a long meta post but tbh i dont think it'd be taken in good faith. but there's something to be said about how much fallout new vegas is a reflection of war & military-critical views in the late aughts & 2010s that maybe younger people can't fully appreciate having not been quite as cognizant as i happened to be at the time (a tween/young teen).

i think i can understand where someone who was (we can assume) financially marginalized like boone would think joining the military was his "out" and an at all honorable thing to do. why he broke to the conditioning. the level of self-hatred and alienation when he comes out of it realizing that he committed war crimes, hurt real people, that he was always a tool to the NCR--it chewed him up and spit him out, let him out into the world without resources.

beyond being about boone himself, boone's narrative fits in very well with the (broader american) cultural feeling towards war in those who were critical of it in the 2010s and i find it very interesting to pick apart. because his story is about new vegas. but like all fallout games, it's highly political and a criticism of contemporary cultural feelings/ideas.

Okay whatever, Spy x Family 100 exists. Not as dark as Tista, still. But pretty clearly leaning into the stuff that Endo likes to write about lol, I can only imagine how satisfying it is for him to depict how easily and violently life can be stolen away.

But I'm sorry, all I can really imagine is what the hell is Becky's response to this? Like I really can't take this violent part as he clearly wants the audience to because of that initial context, so I'm just kind of imagining like:

It was fine in Twilight's flashback because it was uninterrupted until the end so there was no reference to what it was being framed with, plus as a dream he was having he wasn't divulging personal topics to anyone but himself. Here though Martha was like. Originally telling Becky about the same things Henderson was reminiscing about with the housekeeper but their story is going on for so much longer and about much more sensitive topics, so all I'm thinking about is how this is supposed to end back in the present lol.

I still think M99 was good, all because it gave a bit more context to Donovan Desmond. Knowing that he's lived through two wars, and that he has always accepted that people's lack of trust in each other contributes to perpetual conflict, goes a long way to giving more context to his behavior in the present, despite the fact that he has had way too little focus over the course of 100 chapters. At the very least, it's actually easier now to speculate that his goal in the present is unlikely to be reigniting war. There's more to say about him and his actions and relationships when looking back at his appearances and mentions as they span the story.

But I can't really say the same for M100 because it's a rough set up chapter that exists to explain "how did Martha get back?" and according to the next chapter preview for M101, the first couple of pages at least will focus on "the long journey home". But to me, there's not much point to closely following her story from here on now that she's been cured of her xenophobia since we already know that she eventually did make it back, didn't marry Henry, but ended off decently as the live-in nanny to the Blackbells. (Though that detail is a little peculiar now given that he used Martha's past to display just how brutal the war is, but flashback's not over yet so I'll wait for Endo to make it make sense.)

Oh, I guess people really liked the part with Anabel, but for me it's simply too short to really add anything new that hasn't been touched on before. Anabel herself feels like just a milder flavor of Advisor's dad with regards to the anti-war sentiment and "there's people on both sides (but especially Westalis which has never been explicitly shown doing things to actively incite war btw) who hate war itself and see their 'enemies' as human" messaging.

Even the page layouts are similar, geez...

One thing I will point out though is that the VIZ English translation for M100 left out a bit of important context on Anabel's snide comment to Martha when she tells her to stay hidden.

In the original, Anabel says that the east is "also" a pathetic country instead of just saying that Ostania is pathetic for putting Martha on the front lines. So she is at least critical of Westalis as well even though Martha is still bitter about it. It probably could be corrected to, "What a pathetic country Ostania is, as well."

Overall I can't really say much about the chapter. It was fine I guess, just not great. I still think the highlight of this "arc" is probably Donovan's appearance in 99. Maybe Endo can still do something interesting with Martha if he tries to connect her to one of the other main clandestine organizations in the story in addition to being employed by the Blackbells, but as simply a vehicle to show more of the past conflict between East and West, I don't think she works that well. And I think a lot of it is because we really did not get to see as much of Westalis as we should, plus we're still lacking a lot of context for what was going on in Ostania during the second war.

I hope there's another twist or turn waiting at the end of this flashback because I really do want to see what the significance of knowing this is, but I think for now I'll just keep my expectations low.

Watching world record speedruns is always fun bc very early on it feels like it’s common to hear „yeah this run sucks :/“ type stuff. “This bit was sloppy” and “that was a bad [x]” and so on

☾ GOJO SATORU 

"Toru, stop splashing my stomach!" you exclaimed at your playful husband, attempting to push the lukewarm bathwater onto your stomach, inadvertently splashing your face. "But she likes it, look!" he exclaimed with a huge smile as your daughter continued to kick your stomach. "I don’t need to look; I can feel it," you rolled your eyes. "Feels like she’s trying to break my ribs." You let out a little grunt when she kicks a particular spot. Satoru shoots a worried glance at you. "Are you alright?" he asks, rubbing smooth circles on your stomach. "I'm okay; she just keeps kicking the same spot," you gave him a small smile when he leans down to kiss your belly. "Hey now, take it easy on your momma, or no more splashes for you," he mummers to your stomach. As if your daughter understood, she stops and starts gently kicking in another area. "Look, Angel, she listened to me!" he exclaims before pushing more water into your stomach. "Toru! You got water in my nose!" 

☾ TOJI FUSHIGURO 

"Are you okay, beautiful?" Toji inquired, concern evident in his eyes as he observes you holding your stomach with a furrowed expression. "Just a big kick from the baby," you struggle to get out, your stomach contracting. "C'mere--lemme make you feel better, baby," he whispered, sitting up on the headboard of the bed and pulling you between his open legs. "What are you doing, Toji?" You question as your husband reached towards the nightstand to grab something. "Makin’ my girl feel better–just lay down and relax," he whispers in your ear before placing a gentle kiss on your shoulder. With the cramps becoming unbearable, you had no other choice but to obey. Eyes squeezed tight, body resting on Toji’s toned chest, you tense when he starts to gently massage your stomach with what feels like lotion. A moan of relief escaped you involuntarily. "That’s right, let me take care of you," he mummers, continuing the soothing massage. 

☾ NANAMI KENTO 

"Are you ready to taste heaven, babies?" Nanami smiles warmly at your stomach as if expecting your unborn twins to give a response. Quickly, he leans down and places two affectionate kisses on your stomach, one for each baby. "C'mon, Kento, ’m hungry!" you pout, crossing your arms over your chest. Nanami was supposed to be giving you new food items that he found online, but the more he talks, the more it seems like he's eager for his children to be the taste testers rather than you. "You know they can’t actually give you a review, right?" you question your husband, but he ignores your sass and reaches for a plate. "Duh, ‘course I know that, but they're still going to taste it inside of you," he says as if it's the most obvious thing. "Yeah, all mashed up and mixed with a bunch of different foods. Now, give me that plate–I’m hungry!" you insist, reaching out for the plate as your husband laughs. 

☾ GETO SUGURU 

"I don’t think they like me," Suguru grumbles, and you laugh as your unborn child tries and fails to kick their father's head off your stomach. "Hell," Suguru yanks his head up and glares at your protruding stomach. "Hey, don’t cuss at my baby," you laugh. "I wouldn’t have to if my baby wasn’t trying to give me a concussion," he rolls his eyes dramatically before rubbing his calloused fingers on your stomach, The baby kicks at his hand. "Don't be so dramatic, Sugu," you roll your eyes at your husband as he continues to tease your child with his hand. "How do you think I feel when they’re kicking my bladder at three AM?" you laugh. "You better not come out as moody as your mommy," he taunts before pressing a soft kiss on your stomach. "I’ll give you whatever you want when you come out if you let me lay down in peace, deal?" he whispers to your stomach, and all he gets is a harsh kick. "Deserved.” You huff out.
