I’ve gotten some hate asks because of my complaints about my quote being stolen. I won’t post them because they’re very negative and cruel. But I will say that it isn’t okay to steal people’s words. Even if you think it’s “not a big deal”. Or if you think “words are so easy to come up with”.

It is disheartening to see your words stolen and then to see the stolen posts get a lot more shares and interactions than the original.

I put a lot of genuine care in my original posts on my blogs and it does suck to see someone copy and paste it and pass it off as their own.

You can see the importance of a child having a Dream Prom, and having access to a fancy outfit that helps them feel beautiful to celebrate. You can see the importance of making sure that feeling isn't restricted to only those who can afford it. I struggle to understand why you can't extend that compassion and kindness, and see the reason why any child who wants a dress to feel beautiful at prom deserves one? The decisions they make between their parents and doctor are none of our business. Why are you basing who can feel pretty and cared for by their community on what's in a literal child's pants?

There are two options here: kids who already feel different, who hear adults on the news saying HORRIBLE things about them and hear it parroted by their peers, show up to the only resource in their small town, beat down and nervous and so so scared that they'll be bullied and turned away by another adult. One promising to make the world a better one for kids, turns them away - making it clear that you don't want that for THEM. THEY don't deserve community support and feeling beautiful in their skin and having the prom of their dreams. They either force themselves to be someone they aren't so that they're even allowed to show up to the dance, or they sit out one of most kids major life events. They consider suicide. Statistically, there's a pretty good chance they'll do it - if not tonight, then in the future, thinking about all of these people who prize community yet made it clear that, for the crime of looking and feeling different, they weren't part of it.

Or, a kid who's scared and been beaten down and comes for that dream of prom night and beautiful dresses. And they're welcomed with a smile. They try on dresses with their friends, or other girls in town. Maybe they get over loving dresses in 3 months, maybe it's finding a part of who they are for the rest of their life. And they had the space and freedom and love of their community to find it, and to try out different outfits and different names and different ideas of what they want in life like ALL of us do.

You get to make that choice. You get to make that moment, that prom night, that building block of being someone who Belongs and is Worth showing up for - or another bully who shames and dismisses them and makes them wonder what the point is in staying alive in a world where so many people decided they hated you before they ever knew you.

i know someone previously sent an ask warning about this person, but seeing as their posts are getting more and more popular within the fandom i wanted to send another reminder. i know this is a blog for silly discourse and takes, but i wanted to send this where a big portion of the fandom would see it. (for mod courtney: if you feel like this is too heavy to be posted or you just dont wanna post it for any reason that's fine! i understand why you wouldn't want something like this on the blog.)

TRIGGER WARNING FOR suggestive content pedophila and racism @/ scepterno (also known as sugarandmemories or metrix-86) is a proshipper, shotacon, and has a habit of whitewashing and drawing racist art. they were previously in the total drama fandom i believe around 7 years ago? but they've made a comeback and have made a lot of ale/noah art and a fic which has gotten them some popularity but a lot of people don't know about the really shitty things they've done.

they tend to whitewash noah a LOT in their art. you can try to excuse it by saying they just put a filter over their art or something but the fact its been multiple times is worrying. their older art of cameron is EXTREMELY racist, it was a few years ago but ANYONE should know better than to draw a black person like that.

they also sexualize children a lot in their art. they have pages of fanart for a rwby character who is 14 years old, drawing him in suggestive clothing and posing, and shipping him with an adult. i don't know anything about rwby so i can't say much besides that, but it's very disgusting knowing they're a grown adult and draw children like that. they have drawn fanart of other fandoms, shipping a child character from it with adults as well. their weird obsession with sexualizing CHILDREN is disgusting.

you guys all know that like. his take on this is a very generic liberal take, right. and it doesn't mean he's secretly super transphobic, right. you guys know that most bigotry is very mundane and subtle, and not secretly a sign someone's a nazi, right. right guys? right?

like there's things to criticize yes but i guarantee you if you talk to like. a random person at Walmart about this they'd probably have the same take. and i think having a huge uproar & insisting that it's immoral to watch his content now is like. more likely to make him dig his heels in than anything else.

edit because this apparently wasn't clear: that doesn't mean don't talk about it or don't care about the normalization of bigotry. what this means is that making the situation something it's not (ie that skizz is actively and purposefully transphobic) masks the way that bigotry like this is mundane and often unintentional, and stops us from being able to talk about it in that way. i care a lot that's why I've posted like 1000 words about it atp. lol
