WHAT IS THIS AU? HOW DOES IT WORK?

A brief (I'm lying, this is a long post) explanation post for this AU for anyone new <3

As I've mentioned before, this AU is based on the theory that Papyrus is (was) Gaster. I did not create this theory, it has existed for a long time as far as I know and I'm also not the first person to do something like this with the concept, I'll touch up on that later.

About the Papyrus is Gaster theory

I've looked up a lot of stuff about it but I don't actually know where it originated. It's not super popular but if you're a Papyrus theorist you might have heard of it before.

It's not a super serious theory really, it's more about pointing out the weird connections and similarities between Papyrus and Gaster and giving an explanation to the many weird things about Papyrus and his lack of backstory.

Just to mention some things:

Them both speaking in capital letters, having no asterisks, their weird way of phrasing things, Papyrus being described as forgettable, Papyrus hating hotland, pretending he doesn't know about a lot of stuff ( The lab for example, he know what a lab is but pretends he doesn't in front of Sans), Gaster being related to hands and Papyrus never taking his gloves off, Papyrus weird connection with phones (his photo-graphic memory for phone calls) and Gaster's weird connection to phones also(Fun events related to phones, using the phone in the darkworlds and only getting Gaster's garbage sounds), their love for puzzles (The CORE is a giant puzzle), THAT one quote that I still find misterious “beside, it’s rude to talk about people that are listening, right? not everyone is as though as my brother”, Papyrus DOES have Gaster blasters it's pretty much canon even if a lot of people ignore it, Papyrus is very very smart he has a LOT of books, knowledge on many subjects, building stuff, and even made a shakespeare reference when he died (why is he like this lmao), he's the character with the most dialogue in game yet we don't know a lot of stuff about him, he breaks the laws of physics and of the game, he's not in deltarune the heavily Gaster connected game.

Now that's some of the things I could think about, and look, yeah I'm probably looking too much into it and these are all just coincidences and the weird Papyrus things are related to other stuff maybe not Gaster. But I still like this theory, not because I think it's real but because I LOVE the possibilites!!!

About how this AU works

Okay, so this au is basically a -pretend this theory is real and how would the undertale timeline work then!- We're giving Papyrus his backstory and I'm also making a Gaster focused story at the same time.

I will adapt basically how I think a situations like this would play out (and also add some of my other favorite ut theories as a treat)

Papyrus used to be Wingdings and then Wingdings shattered across time and space, Papyrus and Gaster are different separate people.

Actually I kind of, treat WIngdings before and after accident as different people also... you change a lot when you become an omnipresent being. So, Wingdings, Gaster and Papyrus I treat them all as different people.

"How did Gaster become Papyrus?"

He didn't "become" Papyrus just like that. After he shattered he stopped existing like he was before, he became a being in another layer of the game but physically his body was just there

I based this on how the goners and Gaster followers have counterparts that are not, uh, goners that look different or deformed and gray

Papyrus was just kind af an empty shell at first, he still kept parts of Wingdings original personality but his Papyrus personality developed on his own with time!

"How did Gaster shatter across time and space?"

Usually everyone agrees it was because he fell into the CORE

Not here! I don't think the CORE caused his accident, it is a power source not a time and space altering machine. In this story it was some other thing he was working on, and it wasn't so much of an accident per se

I've seen some people tell me this is a good idea for an AU and I agree!! I love this idea so much, but as I said before I didn't create this concept or theory I just love it a lot!! and was desperate for content wich I surprisingly did not found much of

I was so surprised, I really thought there would be more people that made this before but I couldn't find much, so I'm just making it myself and one of my goals is to maybe make other people like this idea and make their own takes on it !! cause i think it's neat and would love more perspectives and content

First, you all should really see "I know that I know nothing" by linssins

It's because of this comic that I discovered that theory in the first place and really loved the concept. It's my main inspiration, unfortunately the comic is unfinished. If you see it you will definitely see how I took inspiration... Still my story and this au is a different take on the theory, it goes on a different path.

everything is basically the same, except now shadow is a toon character created in the sonic equivalent of the 30s instead of the 50s. maria's disease kicked in a little later in life, and all gerald really knew to do was quarantine her in her room, so the only sources of entertainment she really had was stuff that was already in her room and a small tv that gerald introduced into the environment for her.

as per canon event, gerald was contacted by GUN to create a bioweapon for them, and conveniently being a decent artist, he drew up a lot of possible designs. because maria took a liking to the cartoons that played on tv, gerald ended up doodling some more cartoony designs to make maria happy. black doom (basically a god) found out about the bioweapon project and came to gerald, offering help in exchange for an explanation of the project. that's all, really. he pinkie swears. as gerald was yapping, black doom started viewing his art gallery and really liked one of a cartoon mobian hedgehog, bringing it to life with chaos energy, giving him toon abilities (which is also like a roundabout chaos control kind of). he was also immune to all sickness, and couldnt host bactieria or viruses (because technically hes not real), so he was able to come and go from marias room as he pleased, letting them become best friends. once gerald noticed, he started to wonder is shadow could maybe lead to a cure, so he took some of the ink shadow was made of to do personal experimentation with, lowkey abandoning the bioweapon project. GUN found out about this theft of government property and it led to gerald and maria getting shot, as well as geralds entire team (all of whom conveniently never noticed the missing ink), and shadow getting locked in an ink jar to go in GUNs archives.

in this au, all the events of sa2 happen, but instead of destroying the earth with the ark (which doesnt exist), shadow threatens to turn off the sun. the moon, eggman gets him to break in half, simply to show off his power and back up his threats, and the only reason his redemption happens is because he has a theatric streak a mile wide, so he has to be all dramatic about it, which gives sonic and co the time to turn him back to good. black doom, who had actually been the one to change up shadows memories, was not happy about his plans getting foiled, so he came back with the black comet to destroy earth himself, leading to super sonic and super shadow beating back him and the black comet in place of final hazard. shadow falls through the atmosphere and literally burns into ashes, but a la toon physics, hes basically unharmed, but black doom took away some of his abilities in his final moments, so there were some consequences to that fall (the whole memory thing plus now his toon abilities arent totally impossible to fight against).

thinking about calling it the inkwell au but im like.. 90% sure theres already an undertale au with that name so idk lol

The world is similar to theirs but the monsters are stronger, aren't trapped, somehow bleed and are fighting REAL hard with the humans :0

While the kids get separated and try to figure out what to do, everyone back at their world discovers that the key to go back has to do with stuff from the past :)

An AU based off of an RP between me and a friend of mine from my discord server discord.gg/pQf9ZsdF6E where the Creation Trio as babies (a time they all cant really fully control their powers and junk) accidentally create a portal into the Undertale Universe and meet Chara and basically Arceus finds Chara and adopts her after finding out about her shitty human parents and Chara ends up helping Arceus raise the babies and basically lives in the Pokemon Universe now

Character Updates & Information {Please Read}

This is just an update regarding character designs: I might not post in a minute due to trying to complete the clothing rough drafts for the 6 remaining characters, finishing the outline & coloring of finished rough drafts, writing character sheets for the characters, & working on rough drafts for new AU Variants.

So I have a lot on my plate & will be taking breaks to avoid becoming burnt out, however I feel bad not posting anything, especially regarding my characters, so I’ll post minor facts or ideas for the characters while working on them.

For now, this post will go over a few of the characters, mainly 3-6 characters at a time to avoid creating a super long post. Anyway let’s start.

Neue - UNDERTALE

Neue is able to remember past timelines/resets like Sans, but how he remembers them is a bit different. Neue will remember resets similar to trying to remember a dream, or having a strange sense of deja vu. He can’t tell if these “memories” are real or not, which causes him to overthink/ overanalyze certain events that occur.

Roman - UNDERFELL

Roman is trans, male to female, but is fine with the following pronouns: She/He/They. This is due to the transition being rather recent & giving her friends & family time to process her changes, she is keeping her original name since she really likes it. She already had a somewhat “feminine” physique before transitioning, which did cause some teasing/bullying from the other monsters.

Nova - OUTERTALE

Nova has & will always just float/levitate about few feet off the ground. He doesn’t remember the last time he has actually walked or even touched the ground, not that he minds. He does doze off a lot which could cause him to drift off, his friends came up with the solution to tie a rope around him & hold him like a balloon.

Just had the best-worst case scenario “two cakes” event happen to me.

Best case: Someone is writing a fic I really REALLY am looking forward to! In fact, it’s an idea I’ve wanted to write myself, so obviously I’m super hyped about it!! We even have similar points we want to explore and add in! That’s so awesome!!

Worst case: Oh god, if I ever do write it now, what if it looks like I’m plagiarizing? Like, a lot of the points are similar. I got to see the Undertale AU shitshow go down. What if rather than “two cakes” it looks like “one cake real, second cake copied”??

Hi Everyone!! Here are some more brand new next gens for my Blossom Love AU. Andre, Jesse, Layla and Brittney's parents are Jack Skellington and Sans. Andre is very polite and quite the gentleman. He loves to read, play piano and take nature walks with his family. He's also super helpful and loves being there for his friends and family whenever they need him. Andre is next in line to become Pumpkin King in Halloween Town once Jack retires, but even though Andre will become king very soon, he's still loyal, selfless and always there for others no matter what. Jesse is very sweet, a gentleman as well and very intelligent. He has a huge fascination with science just like his father, Jack, and loves to help out his father whenever he needs assistance. He's also musically gifted as well and can sing and play the guitar quite perfectly. Jesse helps his older brother by planning events and does other tasks for his brother so that way he doesn't get too overwhelmed. Both Andre and Jesse are gay, which means they fall in love with men. Layla is super peppy and loves to read. She's also a really good singer and loves to perform for her family and the townsfolk. Layla also has a bright grayish heart-shaped birthmark on her left eye. Brittney is very bubbly and loves to be around her family. But she can also be very lazy just like her dad, Sans, and enjoys taking naps with him very often. Brittney's magic is much more powerful than any normal baby's magic, but she can control her magic so no magical mishaps can happen. Credit goes to Selenaede for the bases I used and to Tim Burton, Disney, Touchstone Studios and Toby Fox for creating The Nightmare Before Christmas and Undertale as well as creating the characters, Jack Skellington and Sans and for creating the location, Halloween Town as well. I only take credit for my next gens, art, ships, stories and the Blossom Love AU. I hope you guys like them!!!

The Amazing Digital Underground

okay, so think of an Undertale x TADC crossover AU. No I’m not just reclothing the characters and using the same story. I’m making something new and interesting, that uses both stories in a sort of way that makes sense but is still its own thing. I’d like to call it: *drumroll* The Amazing Digital Underground! (TADU)! Lemme explain the plot I came up with:

chara is an adult that’s been alone all their life, so they create a way to escape reality. An AI world. Their first AI test is Asriel, and they grow very attached to him. Too attached. Asriel starts to get self aware because Chara programmed too many “emotions” in him, and goes insane at the realization that he’s not a real being. Chara tries to SAVE him to bring him back, but alas, no avail. Asriel was sent to the cellar. Thus, Chara created Papyrus and his assistant, Monster Kid. She gave them less “emotions”, so even if Papyrus became self-aware, he wouldn’t care and would never abstract. Papyrus started growing powerful, too powerful. He got smarter and smarter each day, that one day when Chara tried to leave, THEY COULDN’T. Papyrus had trapped them in there to play with him forever. Chara eventually abstracts of insanity, and Papyrus creates a technological wormhole in the real world where humans can get trapped in as well, where? You guessed it, Mt. Ebbot. People started disappearing into the wormhole, which began the “you can never come back if you go” legend for them. Frisk however, was curious, so they decided to go. They found the wormhole in a literal hole in the mountain. They ended up in the underground circus world, and was greeted by Toriel (the Ragatha), Sans (the Jax), Napstablook (the Gangle), Undyne (the Zooble), and Asgore (The Kinger). (There’s no Kaufmo because this follows it’s own story and not the TADC pilot’s) Day after day, frisk notices something…wrong. Glitching, things out of place….and one day, the abstracted characters break free from the cellar. Frisk gets a SUPER COOL EDGY FLASHBACK™️, and learns how to SAVE. they SAVE all the abstracts, (in this AU the term “SAVE” means to ultimately free their souls from the circus.) Papyrus witnesses the events and passive-agreessively threatens Frisk not to tell anyone. Frisk is acting weird around Papyrus and there’s a lot of tension and the others notice and pressure Frisk into telling them. They feel betrayed by frisk, and they make it up by compromising a plan to defeat papyrus and escape. But one has to be sacrificed, because someone has to SAVE the others and SAVING yourself is impossible. Poor Napstablook decides to sacrifice himself to prove his courage and that he isn’t just a sad tool for the plot. They all go through with the plan, and escape (except Napstablook because haha you get to cry now) but they didn’t exactly escape because it plays out like the end of Be More Chill (great musical btw, highly recommended) and Papyrus is an annoying voice in their heads haunting their dreams, constantly reminding them they can’t get rid of him. Aaaand yeah, that’s what I came up with so far :3 I’m currently working on character designs, I’ll post them when I finish. Ideas and art submissions are welcome, just remember my idea is to kind of mix both character designs equally instead of just putting one character in the other’s clothes.

i kinda wanna talk abt what that anon was saying with people adding non-side characters into fanworks and how that could be connected to other analyses of the fanbase (i haven’t been here as long as u have though so mb there’s some stuff idk abt)

for me it’s symptomatic of the way this fanbase treats the characters in general- they like. boil them down to one simple trait, one little personality thing that becomes how they’re viewed in fanon. so like patton is just sweet/innocent/stupid, but all other aspects of who he is, what he does, etc are kinda they out the window.

people add characters like picani and sleep even though they’ve had no canon overlap with the sides because their fanon personalities are simple enough to imagine with the sides. this fanbase ignores canon events so often that they can just like. add characters in and it feels the same to them

by making them into these one-note characters, it’s easy to imagine them interacting with one another as if they are from the same series because they’re so one dimensional and shallow in fanon. they can basically be made into whatever you want them to

i just think it kinda says something abt the way this fanbase warps it’s characters beyond recognition tht you can straight up just add these guys in and it doesn’t change the dynamic much, it doesn’t seem super out of place, and they’re just kinda. there

idk if that made any sense, im really tired, but my thoughts on this change all the time so i might look at this later and decide it’s bullshit lol who knows

I do agree that people boil down the sides into one specific trait & dont have any nuance to their character, however every fandom has crossover AUs. Every fandom boils characters down to their characters into one specific trait. I don't feel like there's anything to discuss there, because if I wanted to talk about how fandoms function as a whole, I'd just talk about that. But I don't want to. I want to talk specifically about the SaSi fandom and how it correlates to the series.

There's a difference between

"the series is about morally greyness and how there is no 'good' or 'bad' in the world, but the fanbase completely ignores that to treat the sides one-dimensionally" (and because of the lack of content and large stretches of time)

&

"the fanbase creates crossover AUs, like every other fanbase, and tends to make the characters one dimensional to fit them into the AU"

Every fandom has the same issues, but it's very interesting when it comes to SaSi specifically, because they are actively ignoring the lesson in Sanders Sides. It's the same with the Undertale fandom. People were actively ignoring the point of the story to make a child out to be the villain, because they couldn't comprehend, or want, the idea that it was them/the player who was fault

(also, it's less the one dimensional thing, & more that they are all creations of Thomas. People are adding in shorts characters and cartoon therapy characters because it's all by the same creator. I'm sure it's also because their fanon identities are so shallow it's easy to imagine them interacting, but that's not the main reason why it's done. It's done out of love for the other creations Thomas has.)
