Our fandom is made up of 30 people, half of whom have the other half blocked, so I'm an idiot for even addressing this. But since this continues to be posted publicly, I'm going to set my record straight—MY RECORD. I'm not speaking for anyone else, and no one else can speak for me. None of us are mind readers, no matter how much some seem to believe they are.
Back in April, a creator posted commissions of Bryce Lahela and Keiki Lahela in which the two AAPI characters were whitewashed. I interacted with this post in two ways: I ❤️-ed and commented on it from my personal blog. Also, I was the mod of CFWC at the time and I reblogged it there as part of the Choices Fics/Art of the Week. When I realized what I had done, I posted an apology here without solicitation.
I was angry at myself for my involvement and distressed that my actions caused pain to others. I know whitewashing is wrong. It is racist. I've spoken out about it in the past. Still, I interacted. But I didn't delete my comments to try to hide my involvement as some did. See, when I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong. I apologize and will make amends when it's the appropriate thing to do. So, criticism and corrections are never a problem for me. In fact, they're welcomed because it allows for reflection and improvement.
I'm sharing information not as an excuse but solely for context. See, the world isn't as black and white (no pun intended) as some like to believe it is.
I interacted with that post at around 1:00 AM after being awake for over 18 hours after working a long day, tending to real-life responsibilities, and seeing real-life friends (something I suggest each of you attain.) I was exhausted and should have gone to sleep. Instead, I logged on to reblog and do my "CFWC-work". Something I did every day (for free...) when I was still the CFWC mod.
When I was reblogging, I noticed it was the OP's birthday post (it was mentioned in bold in the header). I interacted from my personal to be kind, and I reblogged to CFWC as I did with all submissions. Did I really "look" at the art? No, I did not. I was exhausted and working on auto-pilot. I'm sure you've all done it - ever end up home and not remember the walk/drive there? I'm sure you have.
Now, I'm sure our fandom mind readers will scream, "WELL, YOU SHOULD HAVE!" and "HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE!" And have at it. In fact, that's exactly what I said to myself ... days after ... when I happened to see a post calling it out (days after THAT post was originally shared). I went back to look at the OP again, and that was the first time I truly looked at the art, and I was like, "Dude, what the fuck?" <- That was directed at me for not seeing it before because it was so obvious, and I was super upset over it.
I took action and accountability right away. I deleted the reblog from CFWC and took it off the F/AotW List. I removed my comments from the OP and really reflected. I discussed it privately with the OP - you know —like an adult. Then, I issued a public apology, and, most importantly, I learned from it.
It was a reminder to check my white privilege. Did I not see it instantly because I was exhausted and not paying attention, or was it because I am so used to seeing through the lens of privilege that I overlooked it? Truth is, it was a little of both. So now I know to be more cognizant and do better going forward. It was a reminder that no matter how much you think you've learned, there is always more to learn. Always.
It was also a reminder to be more conscious of the content I interact with. I have always tried to interact with as many creations/posts as I could so people felt appreciated. Most people in our fandom are not very supportive. They will interact with one or two of their friends at most. I know how much people put into their little blorbos, and I won't apologize for trying to make people feel appreciated. But no more. Now, I'm interacting much less and only when I have the chance/time to TRULY look everything over. (To those of you who ❤️ something to go back and look at it later, you may want to reconsider that, too.)
I also posted this, and it was especially offensive to some - though for the life of me - I'll never understand why. It's merely saying stop with the vaguing, stop with the hate anons, just talk constructively. It was not directed solely at this event - but every stupid fucking bit of drama I've seen. Everyone is so quick to assume the worst in everyone. Things would be so much better, and so much needless drama could be avoided if people communicated like the grown-ups they profess to be.
Just be a decent human being, and spare me the "it's not my job" bullshit. Because if you're screaming about it publicly, you've already made it your job. You're just not doing the job very well.
I'm not perfect. I have, do, and will make mistakes - just like every single one of you reading this will - but I'm committed to treating people fairly and learning when I make mistakes, and I will offer grace when others make mistakes and show contrition because I know no one's house is clean.
I ran CFWC for years and tried to make it as inclusive as possible and encouraged diversity. A mistake was made, and it was immediately corrected. That does not make a blog racist, and it's narrow-minded and ignorant to suggest it is. But as is often the case in this fandom, those who criticize the most are those who tend to offer the least. Always have a problem with the way things are done, but god damned if they'll do anything to benefit the fandom as a whole.
I hate seeing all the problems and division this has caused. I hate that three people have come to me and told me that they were told to "choose a side." That they want to interact with me publicly but are afraid to for fear of attack. I'm telling you right now, no one will ever hear that from me. I will never tell anyone to block anyone. In fact, I only block people I consider unsafe or who block me - because you don't get to have it both ways. In real life, if a friend tells me I have to choose between them and another friend? I will ALWAYS choose the friend who did not ask me to choose because the one who did already showed me who they are. Make your own choices, but if you feel you can only interact with me privately, I'd rather you block me and move on. I don't need "friends" like that.
It was very hurtful that someone I considered a friend didn't think enough of me to come to me privately and assumed the worst of me without so much as a word. A conversation could have done wonders. But you know what that tells me? The "friendship" wasn't as much of a friendship as I had believed. It happens, and it stung for a bit, but that's done. After all, we never lose true friends.
I totally broke my rule of not explaining myself to those who were committed to misunderstanding me, but I just had enough. Besides, I don't give a damn about them - consider it a gift to my haters. Have at it - tear it all apart - if that's what you live for and have nothing better to do - go for it. I honestly feel sad for you. I wrote this for me - to put my truth out there. And I wrote it for those who are afraid to say these things themselves, and trust, they are out there. It's really, really, really pathetic that a fandom about stupid pixelated people devolves into this.

Hospital Bed - Lolina: Origins
i am obsessed with this concept album its on bandcamp please go listen to it i need to not be the only person who cares about this
[id: a digital comic consisting of three pages, in grayscale and red.
the first page is four panels, each the width of the page. the first is all black. four beeps go diagonally down across the panel. the second panel is mostly black, with a somewhat fuzzy light in the middle left of the panel. it reads "what is this pain? what is this place?" in the third panel, the fuzzy image of a person is visible, the edges of the panel are still dark. it reads "am i alive? am i awake? what are these scars across my face?" in the fourth panel, a woman in a lab coat and a mask, the doctor, leans in. the right side of the panel is still dark. a speech bubble from the woman says "you are home". the narration interjects with "they say". the woman continues "you are safe."
the second page is three panels, the first one taking up most of the page, with the other two next to each other under it. the first panel is a birds-eye view of a room in a hospital. in the center is Lolina, a woman laying on a hospital bed. she has black hair, a bandage wrapped over her eye, and a red cut down the side of her face. the doctor stands next to the bed. sideways, in large letters, it reads "hospital bed, I'm back on mars." the second panel is a close-up of the upper half of Lolina's face, focusing on her left eye, which is red, and the bandage covering her other one. it reads "but i am wounded." the third panel is a close up of the lower half of her face, focusing on the cut on her cheek held together with butterfly bandages, and the large bandage on her other cheek. it reads "I feel the scars."
the third page is a drawing of the doctor standing by the bed, from Lolina's point of view. across it is dialogue interspersed with small panels. the doctor says "we can regrow your cells," and next to it is a small panel showing cells dividing. then she says "we can restore," and next to it is a panel showing the right half of Lolina's face, with her eye and cheek healed. then she says "you will go back," and next to it is a panel reading "Sandy's Place" in glowing red letters. the narration interjects with "they say." the doctor continues "to the life you had before." under it is a panel divided diagonally into four sections, the first showing red lips, the second showing black hair swishing, the third showing a pair of legs wearing red high heels, and the fourth showing a body from neck to hips, wearing a strapless red dress. under that the narration reads "to the life i had before". end id.]
(I've never written an id for a comic before and there was some visual stuff that was really tricky to describe so if I've messed something up or if something should be clearer please tell me and I'll try to fix it)

“To think I thought you must’ve hated me…”
“My child… I could never.”
When does Volo get to talk to Arceus GF. Nintendo. Pokemon Company. Let him HAVE HIS MOMENT WITH GOD-
ID below cut!
[ID: Four sketchy, non-colored, digital images done in Procreate. They feature Volo, who has long, dark hair, that lightens out at the ends, and parts to the right to cover the (viewers) right side of his face; a squared face; a wide nose; full lips; and a hint of scarring underneath where his hair is covering his face. He’s wearing eye makeup that mirrors the design of Arceus’ eyes. The images of Volo are only chest-up, but he’s wearing a “kimono” and vest reflective of traditional Ainu wear (I unfortunately could not find the proper terms for the clothing), drawn in a way that mirrors the design of Arceus. Arceus is also present, a Pokémon that is goat-like in appearance, but if that goat was a god and had eight eyes and was almost 11 feet tall and it’s head was elongated. Fucked up goat.
The first image is Arceus staring at the viewer, but implied to be staring at Volo off panel. They appear to be crying. They say, “I wouldst never claim to be a perfect deity. Contrarily… Thou art the imperfect creations of an imperfect god. A mere fragment of one greater, with only a fragment of thine’s divine abilities. However…”
The second image is of Volo, looking to Arceus off panel, grief and sadness present in his face. Arceus continues, “… I love each and all of mine creations more deeply than thou might imagine. Thine included, even if thoust does not believe it. … Had I the ability to create my world without suffering, so that mine own creations I adoreth so much need never be troubled… I would have.”
The third image shows both Volo and Arceus. Volo has his head bared down, not looking Arceus in the eye, tears trailing down his face. It’s hard to discern from Arceus, but they appear to be saddened as well. Arceus continues again, “… I love you, Volo. But I have let thou down. Let thine people down… I am sorry. I was… never as strong as thou all believeth me to be… an imperfect god, indeed.”
The final image shows Volo and Arceus again from the same angle, but Arceus is resting their head on Volo’s forehead, their eyes closed. Volo is reaching a hand up to Arceus in a comforting manner, now looking Arceus in the face. Volo says, “Oh creator Arceus… What I wouldn’t give to understand your divine psyche, your doubts and uncertainties that feel so… human. I know them well, my lord… I wish I could ease your fears. Divinity must be a difficult burden to bear…” Arceus responds, “It is a burden I would not wish upon anyone… certainly not thou, who hast been through so much…”
END ID.]
#my art#this is also referencing some hc of mine I’ll expand on in tags lol#volo#pokemon legends arceus#pokemon legends arceus spoilers#?????? kind of???????? jic I suppose#pokemon wielder volo#pokemon volo#arceus#described#so the hc I’m working with is kinda based on the theory that the Arceus we see in the games is just one aspect of the whole creator.#one ‘arm’ I’ve seen it be referred to. where my hc differs is that the original being isn’t actually Arceus. Arceus split off from this-#-original eldritch being and left to create their own universe. particularly because the original being wasn’t a creator -#- it was a devourer. and it’s had many children who have went off to create their own worlds only to have them devoured by their parent#it’s a cycle and one that Arceus is desperately afraid of. they’ve moved their world so many times to avoid the ever reaching-#-limbs of their parent. Arceus loves their world too much; loves their creations too much.#this is why the ultra wormholes and other space-time distorting events occur commonly. Arceus is constantly on the move and sometimes-#-different timelines will interact with one another due to this movement#it’s an incredibly self indulgent hc and is not anywhere supported by canon. I just like messy gods in fiction anbdjsbs#Arceus is not a perfect creator. they couldn’t create a perfect world. but they deeply love their creations anyway.#their creations are a direct reflection of themself in the end. flaws and all. and they refuse to be a destroyer like their parent#probably also ties into Arceus’ great disappointment with Giratina when they betrayed them. to think they could create a child with that-#-same desire to destroy; to devour… it scared them.#anyway LONG TAGS HAVDHSBHS

The dsmp needed to end, stories just work like that, but also it didn't need to be bulldozed in the progress.
Why a reset ending is so cheap in this situation, is because it makes all that the story go through and characters just ...void. and that just does not sit right.
Like I could go one theorising about why they decided to end it like that, but I won't ...cos fuck that.
It sucked, it was a shitty ending, and honestly I thank cc like Wilbur, philza, Niki, sorta Ranboo and even fucking- ConnerEatsPants ...for giving their characters a semi satisfying end in comparison.
For my own sanity cDream is dead, and cclingyduo are off somewhere safe living their lives and shit.
I just look forward to cc from the dsmp branching out from it, telling new stories in different worlds. Or fuck it ...making completely different content all together.
The dsmp ..or at least season one will forever be so fucking important to me, I still loved it and will continue to think and draw the characters as much as that still gives me enjoyment, this isn't me saying I'm 'leaving the fandom' or whatever.
You're talking to a guy who was making content for six years straight after undertale came out, just cos something concluded doesn't mean you can't make and enjoy content from it.
And I hope y'all still stick around for my art!

白银发的超人类(然后与《致不灭的你》挂钩)// Silver-White Haired Human Alien (Plus a tangent to two TYE characters)
I got recommended a really interesting video this morning! It's about 18 minutes and 30 seconds long:
youtube
I recommend watching it just to add to the view count (and leave a comment as a sign of engagement to the discussion!), but for the purpose of my musing, I did jot down some notes.
Generally, white hair symbolizes:
purity
wisdom, which can easily be related to
divinity, which then easily relates to
power, in both senses of the word. "Strength, including the supernatural kind", and "rulership".
What white hair symbolizes, as a whole, is exceptionalism.
These characters are human and relatable, and yet they are also alien and "abnormal" in other important ways. There are broadly two kinds of exceptionalism:
Group exceptionalism - where it's an entire tribe, race, species etc. that possesses white hair
Individual exceptionalism - well... whatever it says on the can.
The kind of character tropes that may be represented by this hair color are:
divine right and rulership - basically, some sort of prince or princess and rulers. Related to the idea that a being that is divine and above is more "fit to rule."
powerful mentors
prodigies
a character bearing a heavy burden or sometimes, sickness; but they are also stoic and strongly soldiering through
hybrid - a character that straddles between two powers, factions, tribes, races, or even concepts (nature v. science), etc.
an enigma - a character meant to represent mysteries
Fushi's white-hairedness fits a lot of these ideas so much that many of their granular qualities can be predicted through this framework completely.
But there is a twist. That default "white-haired young boy" look that fits them to a tee... was not their form to begin with.
It belonged to an ordinary boy, who was only exceptional by elimination—when you're "the last person" of an entire community, you're exceptional just because you have no competitors. In many ways, there was nothing exceptional, wise, divine, or powerful about the Nameless Boy. There was nothing alien about him, either. He was so nondescript that he wasn't even named in the story. His fucking wolf had a name. He himself would have died a nobody if he never met the immortal.
----
Show of hands. How many To Your Eternity readers/anime watchers started out thinking the Nameless white-haired human was the main character we will follow throughout the story? I know I did. I fully expected it. And then he fucking died. And then the alien ball-rock-moss-wolf took his form.
I find it interesting that the Nameless Boy's form fit so many of these classic white-haired tropes and ideas, yet he himself was pretty damn close to a nobody (perhaps more fittingly would be Virginia Woolf's term: he's "Mrs. Brown."). Again, he was so mortal that he succumbed to sickness, despair, and death, having lost out against an indifferent universe. It was only after Fushi took his form that all of these "expectations" of the white-haired character are played straight:
Fushi's purity was touched on in the story by the Guardians. Their specific narrative was that they guard against anyone or anything attempting to poison his purity.
Fushi's wisdom is cumulative and slow, and I'm sure both readers and in-story characters will doubt if they could be considered wise. Nonetheless, even if they hadn't yet reached that threshold, Fushi is undeniably actively learning about life and grappling with all its thorns. Surely one can recognize this, itself, is already a process leading to wisdom.
Lastly, Fushi's divinity and power are pretty much self-evident, considering what they are.
In a meta sense, the Nameless Boy was Fushi's most fitting form just because the former possesses literary connotations and tropes the latter genuinely possesses. Fushi fits the literal "Human Alien" concept, in that:
the human is descriptive; the alien, the subject. This is an alien that nonetheless takes on human qualities, and does so gradually.
(I wonder if Oima planned her main character right down to these mind-boggling details).
They are an exceptional being, spawned from an exceptional (albeit formless) species, becoming an exceptional individual. They are to be a sort of divine shepherd of the Earth; a hybrid of lives and concepts; an enigma to the very world they are to care for. They might even be a mentor, albeit an accidental one, to the Nokkers in terms of interacting with physical beings. They're saddled with the burden of immortality and the Beholder's plans for them so much that they hunched their shoulders frequently.
-----
And yet NONE of these apply to the original owner of that form in the slightest.
This flows into interesting hypotheses.
If everything was created by the Beholder (barring natural reproduction, I guess, because does he really look like someone who would care which sperm and ovum combine every time unprotected sex occurred? Not just humans have sex, you know), could the Nameless Boy had been created by him for Fushi?
If the Nameless Boy was not created specifically for the Beholder's experiment, could he have dropped Fushi in an area close to where the Nameless Boy would be one day so that the first human—and beginning of the orb's humanity—Fushi acquired are from this form that fit its traits perfectly, especially meta-wise?
Could any of this come to the fore in the final arc of this story?
And! Though the Nameless Boy was dead since the first chapter... In a meta sense, could the shadow of this story be about the "Nameless Boy" gaining all the qualities his "form" traditionally signifies? (Note: The "white hair exceptionalism" trope is not exclusive to Western literature. It is also found in other cultures, like Chinese.) This would also play into, DING DING DING, the Buddhist philosophical idea of the skandha ("aggregates") informing a being's qualities; given that TYE has already shown quite a surprising amount of Buddhist thoughts, I wouldn't put this as too wild.
Again, will this play into the finale of the story?
----
Let me close this essay with a poetry left on Bilibili, on the first episode of TYE, by 弼马温侯 (translation by me):
“请你…永远记住我…”  你的陪伴与愿望,赐予了我初成灵智的点点火光;  我以此身铭记你的模样,前往那茫茫的彼方;  此后路上的欢乐与向往、迷茫与彷徨,皆是为了奔赴心中的那所乐园——那个你曾向我诉说的梦想。
"Please... remember me forever..."  Your companionship and your wish—they granted me my first sparks of sapience;  With this body I remember your form before advancing into the unknown.  All my joy and hopes, all the confusion and loss... I will gain them all because I am heading to that paradise—  The very one you once told me, the one from your dream."
Thank you for reading my ramble.

ehhhhhhhh its so weird, not editing is pretty freeing, like all i'm really doing is just saying my silly little thoughts into the void as i play genshin, reblog some stuff, add some IDs, go do my irl tasks, translate a bit, and there's ig a lot less mental expectation for notes and things, which I didn't quite expect considering i was really into graphic making when i was working on that azhdaha post and was like "omg im getting new ideas every minute i'm never going to stop posting or working on gfx"

Katy Manning - in her first ever screen role, and credited as Katie - makes awful coffee and has a good nose at some industrial action, in Softly Softly: Task Force: Standing Orders (1.8, BBC, 1970)
#fave spotting#katy manning#jo grant#softly softly: task force#doctor who#classic doctor who#standing orders#alan plater#bbc#the awful coffee thing is referenced several times in dialogue for some reason‚ it isn't just me being a dick#katy's part here is fairly negligible at a glance‚ but this is a fascinating episode of SSTF. I've found this first series deeply uneven so#far‚ beginning with a couple of brilliant‚ razor sharp scripts from series creator Elwyn Jones‚ but followed by a few really duff#eps by Robert Barr‚ who seems to have seized the procedural aspect of the series and clung to it so his episodes depict fairly dull#routine work for the characters. my heart jumped‚ then‚ when the opening credits for this episode announced Alan Plater as the writer#Plater was truly one of our greatest screenwriters and deserves to be mentioned alongside Rosenthal and Potter (but rarely is‚ perhaps#because he contributed so much to genre work or bc he did so much freelance for other series like this‚ rather than concentrating on his#own original creations all the time). this is well before Beiderbecke made his name‚ but he was already an established writer and so#presumably well known for the socialist views that inform much of his work (even freelancing). doubly surprising then‚ considering this#episode follows on immediately from 1.7 The Aggro Boy‚ an Allan Prior script that's interesting as a document on attitudes and approaches#to football hooliganism in 1970‚ but which has a highly Conservative bent and contains dialogue which seems to support increased powers of#policing‚ the return of national service‚ and a general despair with 'modern society'. Prior's script couldn't be further from Plater's#beliefs‚ but to his credit this episode (concerning labour disputes and unofficial strikes) does its damndest to remain neutral (mostly#through the figure of Norman Bowler's Insp Hawkins who will not be drawn into taking sides). i suppose it's testament to Plater's#professionalism; he was after all a guest writer on a mildly conservative cop show‚ not to mention writing for the BBC (always at pains to#appear politically neutral). his characters are varied‚ with good and bad on both sides of the debate; there are bad managers and trouble#makers on the picket‚ as well as sympathetic bosses and earnest union men. if Plater does allow his leftwing bias to show (and it's only#briefly) it's in scenes where Hawkins is goaded by his superiors into betraying his own sympathies: something he explicitly refuses to do#so where does Katy come in? what does her character represent? if anything i think she represents the disinterested masses#the idle onlookers; her secretary character is not directly involved in the shop disputes and spends most of the episode watching the men#from the window with half curiosity and half boredom. and she does it superbly!

Hold on- didn’t you make that wattpad book? “This is all real?” Or something like that-
((NOT A REQUEST PEOPLE MISTOOK IT LAST TIME))
Ah, I expected to get a question like this at some point. To make things short: no, I did not make the wattpad book. That would be a repost by someone else, who copied the original hcs found here.
Truthfully, I don't actually even have a wattpad account since I don't like the website all that much. And it's not like the reposter denied that it was copied, or deleted the comment about that, so I guess I can appreciate their honesty to some capacity lmao.
Naturally, I would have much preferred to have clear credit/acknowledgment in the description as I outlined in this post. However, considering how that book on wattpad predated this by a lot (the rb especially) that comment and response count as just enough acknowledgment in my view to make me withhold any legal action that I was considering at the time. And my name was still in the description, even if they said it was "inspired" by me, so I guess that might count for something (even if it wasn't nearly as important to my decision as the comment). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So essentially, that book's a repost of my stuff on a website I don't go to. And honestly, I wouldn't have named it that if I posted it there anyway lol. Thanks for the question, though, it gives me a good chance to clarify things. <3

not totally sure what this says (idk exactly what it's implying), but if it says what I think it says, I'm gonna be 100% real with you- if I don't like something I'm not doing ANYTHING I will leave it behind and never look back responses take up too much energy even to decide if my keysmash looks weird
and I'm gonna be 100% real with you in return, likes mean absolutely nothing to an author on tumblr. does it mean you read it and liked it? does it just mean you read it and don't want to read it again should you come across it later? does it mean you're saving it for later? fuck if I know. with all due respect I really can't help but laugh when you say it "takes too much energy" to keysmash?? if it really is such an exhausting ordeal you can also just leave a heart emoji and i guarantee any writer's day will be made. I really do not mean to sound haughty when I say this but we have been over this already time and time again and it's straight up not fun for content creators to post anything on this website, because we don't connect with anybody. by all means, continue liking pieces instead of engaging with them in a way that matters - you are the sole master of your tumblr experience and I could never be the boss of you. just don't be surprised when your favorite artists pack up and leave.

So You've Finally Switched to Firefox: a Brief Guide to a Some Very Useful Add-Ons.
This post is inspired by two things, the first being the announcement by Google that the long delayed Manifest V3 which will kill robust adblocking will finally roll out in June 2024, and the second, a post written by @sexhaver in response to a question as to what adblockers and extensions they use. It's a very good post with some A+ information, worth checking out.
I love Firefox, I love the degree of customization it offers me as a user. I love how it just works. I love the built in security features like DNS over HTTPS, and I love just how many excellent add-ons are available. It is a better browser than Chrome in every respect, and of the many Chromium based browsers out there, only Vivaldi comes close.
There are probably many people out there who are considering switching over to Firefox but are maybe putting it off because they've got Chrome set up the way they like it with the extensions they want, and doing all that again for Firefox seems like a chore. The Firefox Add-on directory is less expansive than the Chrome Web Store (which in recent years has become overrun with garbage extensions that range from useless to active malware), but there is still a lot of stuff to sift through. That's where this short guide comes in.
I'm presently running 33 add-ons for Firefox and have a number of others installed but disabled. I've used many others. These are my picks, the ones that I consider essential, useful, or in some cases just fun.
Adblocking/Privacy/Security:
uBlock Origin: The single best adblocker available. If you're a power user there are custom lists and scripts you can find to augment it.
Privacy Badger: Not strictly necessary if you're also running uBlock, but it does catch a few trackers uBlock doesn't and replaces potentially useful trackers like comment boxes with click-to-activate placeholders.
Decentraleyes: A supplementary tool meant to run alongside uBlock, prevents certain sites from breaking when tracker requests are denied by serving local bundled files as replacement.
NoScript: The nuclear option for blocking trackers, ads, and even individual elements. Operates from a "trust no one" standpoint, you will need to manually enable elements yourself. Not recommended for casual users, but a fantastic tool for the power user.
Webmail Ad Blocker: The first of many webmail related add-ons from Jason Saward I will be recommending. Removes all advertising from webmail services like Gmail or Yahoo Mail.
Popup Blocker (Strict): Strictly blocks ALL pop up/new tab/new window requests from all website by default unless you manually allow it.
SponsorBlock: Not a fan of listening to your favourite YouTuber read advertisements for shitty products like Raycons or BetterHelp? This skips them automatically.
AdNauseam: I don't use this one but some people prefer it. Rather than straight up blocking ads and trackers, it obfuscates data by injecting noise into the tracker surveillance infrastructure. It clicks EVERY ad, making your data profile incomprehensible.
User-Agent Switcher: Allows you to spoof websites attempting to gather information by altering your browser profile. Want to browse mobile sites on desktop? This allows you to do it.
Bitwarden: Bitwarden has been my choice of password manager since LastPass sold out and made their free tier useless. If you're not using a password manager, why not? All of my passwords look like this: $NHhaduC*q3VhuhD&scICLKjvM4rZK5^c7ID%q5HVJ3@gny I don't know a single one of them and I use a passphrase as a master password supplemented by two-factor-authentication. Everything is filled in automatically. It is the only way to live.
Proton Pass: An open source free password manager from the creators of Proton Mail. I've been considering moving over to it from Bitwarden myself.
Webmail/Google Drive:
Checker Plus for Gmail: Provides desktop notifications for Gmail accounts, supports managing multiple accounts, allows you to check your mail, read, mark as read or delete e-mails at a glance in a pop-up window. An absolutely fabulous add-on from Jason Saward.
Checker Plus for Google Drive: Does for your Google Drive what Checker Plus for Gmail does for your Gmail.
Checker Plus for Google Calendar: The same as the above two only this time for your Google Calendar.
Firefox Relay: An add-on that allows you to generate aliases that forward to your real e-mail address.
Accessibility:
Dark Reader: Gives every page on the internet a customizable Dark Mode for easier reading and eye protection.
Read Aloud: A text to speech add-on that reads pages with the press of a button.
Zoom Page WE: Provides the ability to zoom in on pages in multiple ways: text zoom, full page zoom, auto-fit etc.
Mobile Dyslexic: Not one I use, but I know people who swear by it. Replaces all fonts with a dyslexia friendly type face.
Utility:
ClearURLs: Automatically removes tracking data from URLs.
History Cleaner: Automatically deletes browser history older than a set number of days.
Feedbro RSS Feed Reader: A full standalone reader in your browser, take control of your feed and start using RSS feeds again.
Video Download Helper: A great tool for downloading video files from websites.
Snap Link Plus: Fan of Wikipedia binge holes? Snap Link allows the user to drag select multiple hyperlinks and open all of them in new tabs.
Copy PlainText: Copy any text without formatting.
EPUBReader: Read .epub files from within a browser window.
Tab Stash: A no mess, no fuss way to organize groups of tabs as bookmarks. I use it as a temporary bookmark tool, saving sessions or groups of tabs into "to read" folders.
Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey: Managers for installing and running custom user scripts. Find user scripts on OpenUserJS or Greasy Fork, there's an entire galaxy out there of ingenious and weird custom user scripts out there, go discover it.
Browsing & Searching:
Speed Dial 2: A new tab add-on that gives you easy access to your favourite sites.
Unpaywall: Whenever you come across a scholarly article behind a paywall, this add-on will search through all the free databases for an accessible and non-paywalled version of the text.
Web Archives: Come across a dead page? This add-on gives you a quick way to search for cached versions of the page on the Wayback Machine, Google Cache, Archive.is and others.
Bypass Paywalls: Automatically bypasses the paywalls of major websites like those for the New York Times, New Yorker, the Financial Times, Wired, etc.
Simple Translate: Simple one-click translation of web pages powered by Google Translate.
Search by Image: Reverse search any image via several different search engines: Google Image, TinEye, Yandex, Bing, etc.
Website Specific:
PocketTube: Do you subscribe to too many YouTube channels? Would you like a way to organize them? This is your answer.
Enhancer for Youtube: Provides a suite of options that make using YouTube more pleasant: volume boost, theatre mode, forced quality settings, playback speed and mouse wheel volume control.
Augmented Steam: Improves the experience of using Steam in a browser, see price histories of games, take notes on your wishlist, make wish listed games and new DLC for games you own appear more visible, etc.
Return YouTube Dislikes: Does exactly what it says on the package.
BlueBlocker: Hate seeing the absolute dimmest individuals on the planet have their replies catapulted to the top of the feed because they're desperate to suck off daddy Elon sloppy style? This is for you, it automatically blocks all Blue Checks on Twitter. I've used it to block a cumulative 34,000 Blue Checks.
Batchcamp: Allows for batch downloading on Bandcamp.
XKit Rewritten: If you're on Tumblr and you're not using whichever version of XKit is currently available, I honestly don't know what to say to you. This newest version isn't as fully featured as the old XKit of the golden age, but it's been rewritten from the ground up for speed and utility.
Social Fixer for Facebook: I once accidentally visited Facebook without this add-on enabled and was immediately greeted by the worst mind annihilating content slop I had ever had the misfortune to come across. Videos titled "he wanted her to get lip fillers and she said no so he had bees sting her lips" and AI photos of broccoli Jesus with 6000 comments all saying "wow". Once I turned it on it was just stuff my dad had posted and updates from the Radio War Nerd group.
BetterTTV: Makes Twitch slightly more bearable.
Well I think that's everything. You don't have to install everything here, or even half of it, but there you go, it's a start.
