"Do. You. Still. Love. Me?" I enunciate every word and lean right into his space just to prove that I'm not intimidated by him.

He cups the back of my neck and pulls me within inches of his face-close enough to kiss.

"I could reach the rank of Maven, lead armies of dark wielders against everyone we care for, and watch every vein in my body turn red as I channel all the power in the Continent, and I would still love you. What I did doesn't change that. I'm not sure anything can."

ill probably delete this in a minute but ive just been fuckin boggled by what ive seen across tumblr in the last few days in particular. its why i havent really been around. like holy fucking shit, its really like some of yall just dont want a chunk of the trans community to exist. like some of yall are thisclose to saying it verbatum. way too many already have. 'shut up sit down be quiet and smile for us' type shit, gee where have i heard that before. oh yeah my entire life cause i was forcefully gendered as someones daughter. shock horror i know. you might be surprised to remember and/or learn that very few trans folks know theyre trans before we're 5, or even 10, and that that gendered experience stays with all of us in both/either small or large ways. either bc we literally dont have a solid identity yet (bc we're very small children), dont have the words, we're repressing it out of fear from how others will treat us, we're actually enjoying or enjoyed being another gender in our childhood, or we just genuinely didnt fuckin know until shit lined up later in life. weird isnt it that transmascs dont pop out as 6'1 brick shithouse cis men when we're born so yall know for certain that we're confused lost girls/women oops i mean big dangerous scary men. its almost like we're transgender too. none of yall actually know what intersectionality is or means

What do you think happened to Alberto's father: did he abandon Alberto, or was he killed by a fisherman?

It depends upon which approach you want to take.

Taking everything available into consideration—the movie, the short, the novelization, the interviews, tweets, special features, golden books, deleted scenes, concepts, production notes, etc.—Alberto was abandoned. Purposefully. Alberto’s father was a horrible person, and if he happened to have died after leaving Alberto on the island, he absolutely had it coming because he did not have any plan on coming back.

Taking only the depicted canon—the movie, the short, the novelization, and the books—into consideration, it is entirely up to interpretation.

Art is subjective, meaning, regardless of the author’s intent, it is up to each individual audience member to create their own impression and understanding of the art.

Not the movie, nor he golden books, nor the junior novelization, nor even the short Ciao Alberto is there any indubitable, concrete, objective evidence that points to Alberto’s abandonment being purposeful. Yes, he eludes to how he thinks he was abandoned because he was a bad kid, but we don’t know if he was ever told that. We don’t know the origin of most of his behaviors.

Alberto’s father could have been killed. Alberto’s father could have planned to come back. Alberto and his father could even have had a good relationship. Alberto clearly looked up to him, after all, and he absolutely wished for him to come back. But he could have just as easily left purposefully, had a horribly abusive relationship, and all that warmth could be from just Mere Exposure Effect.

Really, we don’t know much of anything about Alberto’s past, and the only way to truly study his character is to rely upon the word of the creator. But, again, art is subjective. Therefore, it’s what you decide so long as it does not actively go against what is being depicted (for example: arguing that a painting of a red dog is depicting, instead, a blue cat; arguing that a death of his father negates some trauma of his abandonment).

Personally, I tend to take the artist’s intent into account. But by all means, if you want to argue that it was all just an accident, go ahead! I’d love to see it, and I would very readily provide my own evidence towards that theory.

I think a lot about bingqiu being playful with each other but especially that scene after binghe pretends like he'll force himself on sqq and they roll around in bed fighting. if I remember correctly sqq says something about how he hasn't been like this in a long time and that later on canon they play fight whenever they're flirty makes me think he secretly delighted in being able to let out his feral energy around binghe and drop the immortal master act for a while :') my favorite headcannon is that he gets more and more familiar with binghe as time passes and eventually they get to bitch and moan at each other about their everyday grievances to their heart's content which is very important to me since they're both the same brand of bitchy and neither have realized yet! a tragedy

SO TRUE!! I think about the bit in the extras when they play fight (flirt) it's so cute and it warms my heart when they're comfortable enough to play around like that without fear. I completely agree that they should get to bitch and moan together lol they really are the same kind of bitchy!! I noticed this when rereading the meng mo scene from vol 1, binghe's judgmental thoughts about meng mo are EXACTLY the same kind of snarky judgment we'd get from shen qingqiu. I hope someday one of them is having a long day and suddenly that bitchiness slips out when they're complaining about some idiot they had to deal with, and then they panic for a second, only to be met with SUCH delight because YES YES LET'S TALK SHIT TOGETHER.
