thinking about lucifer again and how much i hate the “sadist” image he has.
in the words of the lovely kazuya yamashita (lucifer’s va) in what is probably my favorite otaku fm episode: i believe lucifer thinks about his brothers constantly. honestly love how much kazuya seems to understand lucifer’s character pretty well.
and it doesn’t take that much digging to realize how much lucifer cares about his family. he signed away the freedom he just earned to save his sister. he kept it a secret from his brothers to save them the hurt - thinking it’d be better if that burden fell to him alone. he hid belphie away in the attic to prevent diavolo from finding out belphie wanted to destroy humanity - and face punishment that’s likely worse than death for it. lucifer relies on mammon the most, the one who he seems to be the strictest with. and honestly, i’d be strict too if the last time i rebelled against authority i lost my sister. lucifer is strict with them to protect them, to protect his family.
and i keep thinking about mammon who expressed to have no regrets following lucifer after the celestial war. about beel who sees it as his duty to follow and protect lucifer. about levi being introduced to anime and manga through lucifer.
it’s really no wonder that the way to lucifer’s heart is getting along with his family.
this is only the tip of the iceberg, and there’s so much more to say! but yeah, i think the sadist label is a huge mischaracterization.

This is a weird useless post but if wizard101 was ever officially animated by experienced animators well versed in body language, symbolism, and design I would be dead. Impactful animation and movement and dynamics between characters and the plot itself IS my hyperfixation

su-a is such a good example of nature v/s nature and how society can play such a huge part in messing young people up entirely. like this girl is obviously very talented and observant and hardworking plus she comes from a wealthy background so she has the means to polish her talents without any outside help. she's so committed to what she does so she has so much potential to do so much good yet her parents literally enable all of her terrible behaviours and isolate her from new perspectives. she has no friends, spends all of her time studying so has no hobbies, her dad is aloof, and the only person she speaks to is her mom. and my god what a character her mom is.
su-a's mom is so consumed by upper class societal expectations and literally feeds off of their validation. she's so far gone that she's convinced herself she's doing what's best for her daughter and is only looking out for her. the world can be a scary place if you don't come out on top after all. su-a verbally expresses her distresses to her mom, tells her she she's seeing words pop out of the page, even ends up in the ER only for her mom to say 'it's alright! this is just a minor setback! you can get back up and focus on your studies again'. as soon as su-a mentions her competitors, all of her mom's attention is instantly diverted towards how others are doing in comparison and she starts wondering what she can do to cut down the competition. her mom doesn't give a single thought to her daughter's health or well being. and every tantrum that su-a throws, because of how isolated and lonely and stressed and tired she is, is always met with her mom basically telling her to ignore her mental and physical health and gently coaxing her into going back to studying
su-a is kicking and screaming to be heard. to be helped. she's suffocating but the only place she can turn to is her mother who is so good at convincing her that this thorny path is the right one. that it's the only one. i can't help but wonder how different su-a would have turned out if someone like haeng-seon was her mother. bc at the end of the day kids don't really care about money, or societal expectations, or validation. what they really need is moral support, attention, advice, and room to breathe. money is great and definitely helps ways more than one, but if used in the wrong way you end up confining yourself into a jail cell of your own making

Day’s mom fascinates me because like. She’s a single mom. And she’s probably a bit more protective of her children due to that, which makes sense. And her son is going blind, which is obviously very difficult and navigating that would be challenging for anyone. And she obviously loves day so, so much
But then she seems to be in complete denial about day’s condition. Doesn’t like it when he calls himself blind. Encourages his isolation. Doesn’t even let him go to his friend’s wedding because “something might happen” (something could happen whether day we’re blind or not but I digress). Not to mention that her only method of helping her sons improve their relationship seems to be forcing day to spend time with and rely on night, which is flawed logic at best. And she doesn’t seem to make attempts to amend her busy schedule to spend more time with either of her children
And again, this is all a very difficult situation for everyone involved, and I do believe that she just wants the best, but day seems to have made a lot of progress in terms of accepting his future as a blind man, actively taking steps to get out and live a life (with the help and support of Mork) while his mom is still stuck.
I do hope that we see her come around more and let go of that overprotective stifling that she has been clinging on to. Day loves his mom and I think having her support in his new take on life will only make him more confident in the new trajectory that he’s on.

Would love it if somewhere in the future centuries from now Roan Kingdom/Empire someone makes a show or movie out of Cale's life and the war with the White Star.
Of course Cale is there, having somehow achieved immortality or smth a la being the gods beloved/babygirl to scream in horror at the movie/show's success.
any time Cale is onscreen there's practically sparkles and hearts and a mysterious wind blowing his hair majestically and he hates it soooo much. (Meanwhile the rest of the squad are giving the director notes because they think the director isn't portraying his beauty accurately enough)
