If you're a moshang fan and not already following seiraheron then what are you doing !! It's getting harder and harder to choose favorite pieces but if I had to pick the atmosphere in this is so strong and their expressions are so warm I could stare at the details for HOURS

Like every other artist on this list, every tadpole_art piece is INCREDIBLE, but this one holds a special place in my heart with how vibrant and powerful its color story is <3 also it made me cry

C's tetris sqq art is an eternally loved classic but honestly all of their gouache paintings are so magnificent and deliciously textured that I think you should stare at them all for a million hours

Hello, new danmei fan here. I'm really late into danmei, just started last year (so I missed the hype). Just when I confused which blog to follow, I found your blog. Thanks so much for this blog of yours, it really helped me to understand more of the stories. I just finished MDZS, TGCG, SVSSS and now I'm reading 2Ha.

For this ask game, can I ask MDZS or SVSSS?

Before I start reading, many people said that SVSSS is inferior to other MXTX works, after finishing the books, I disagree, because I enjoy them all the same....

I mean, if starting last year is considered "late," then I'm also behind, because I only started reading things a few years ago lmao! But it's never too late when fandoms are still booming (for better or worse). So I see we're finishing out the mxtx novels.

MDZS

Favorite Character: Wei Wuxian

Favorite Arc: all Drunk Lan Wangji encounters!

Character I Think is Underrated: Lan Wangji, if i have to hear “he’s boring” from people who can’t read one more time…

Character I Think is Overrated: all of the antagonists and villains. Jiang Cheng is not "single mother!jiujiu," he is just a bitchless Wen Chao. Jin Guangyao is not "poor little Meng Yao forced to do things against his will," he is a a calculating murderer who will scheme against, betray, and kill anyone who stands between him and ultimate power. Madam Yu is not a "girlboss" (unless we accept the real meaning of that word, which is a woman who gains power by ingratiating herself into oppressive systems as the female alternative to corrupt male leaders), she is a domestic abuser who made every single person in her family and husband's clan miserable.

Favorite Ship/Pairing: Wangxian

Something I Love About the Book: I love the way this book is adamant about good always eventually being rewarded. That even if the outcome of doing good was terrible, that does not make the effort wasted or useless. Lan Wangji protecting Wei Wuxian at Nightless City was worth it even if he was almost killed for it, because it made sure that the yin tiger tally did not end up in the Jin Clan's hands as a completed weapon. Wei Wuxian saving the Wen was worth it even though he was killed for it, because A-Yuan got to live. Wen Qing and Wen Ning saving Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian was worth it even though Jiang Cheng betrayed them in the end, because their clan still got to live through its last descendant. None of their actions were met with immediate rewards, but the larger implications of them led to better outcomes than had they just kept to themselves and the status quo of corruption, as everyone else had.

SVSSS (my favorite of the three 🤗)

Favorite Character: Luo Binghe, hands down

Favorite Arc: Holy Mausoleum Arc, cause y'all (Shen Qingqiu 😒) gonna stop falsey accusing my baby, today!

Character I Think is Underrated: Bing-mei version of Luo Binghe, not because he's "unpopular," per se, but because mainstream fandom's perception of him seems to be that he is just Bing-ge who cries, and this is a complete mischaracterization of his character based on popular fanon. I see too much hate for him in this fandom because of it

Character I Think is Overrated: Shen Jiu. The man was a child abuser and died to one of his victims because he chose to be a child abuser. There is nothing tragic or unfair about that. Leave that man in the ether where he'll hopefully never have a chance to harm another person again.

Favorite Ship/Pairing: Bingqiu

Something I Love About the Book: Shen Qingqiu. The man is trying his damndest to do right in what he considers a doomed narrative, but the moment he realizes that his efforts have actually made things worse, he immediately pivots his actions. He never tries to justify himself, deflect from criticism, or misplace responsibility. He has one goal in mind, and that is to make as many people's lives as he possibly can better than what they originally ended up as.

Sexuality headcanon: I would say 'queer,' but that would require him to be in dialogue with society's ideas about sexuality and the dude simply does not give a shit. I don't know if that's standard for Heavenly Demons or not. All the human norms he knows about he got from miscellaneous porn books and Su Xiyan, who—given how fucked Huan Hua Palace is—probably wasn't necessarily the authority on those. TL;DR From what we can tell from the novel, he likes them smart, hot, intimidating, and frequently human. (Despite the thing for humans, he's not even the freakiest sibling, since his sister conceived his nephew with a snake demon. You go, unnamed sister of Tianlang-jun!)

Gender headcanon: Gender is for plebs, and he's a demon emperor. He does what he wants.

A ship I have with said character: Honestly, the canon ship is awesome. I would have loved to have seen more of Su Xiyan and tianxi.

A BROTP I have with said character: I think he should hang out with Liu Mingyan, so she has someone to talk about writing erotica with.

A NOTP I have with said character: Uh, I guess Luo Binghe? Poor Binghe has had a hard enough time and their father-son relationship is fraught enough without adding incest to it.

A random headcanon: Like his son, there's a lot going on under the surface and I think one of those things is that he's pretty lonely? Zhuzhi-lang is there for him but really puts up with a lot of his nonsense; I think he misses being with someone who is willing and able to push back.

General opinion over said character: WHAT A GUY. Chaotic king.

It's gotten better lately, probably thanks to the easily available English translation, but: SQQ's Binghe Syndrome (when instead of brain there is a Binghe).

Listen, this man is obsessed. In the beginning of the book he is obsessed with Luo Binghe the character, and sort of projecting it onto bby Binghe; by the Immortal Alliance Conference however, he is firmly the irl Binghe's stan (though ofc our king of not being in touch with his feelings does not process that at all). Literally every time Binghe appears, his internal narration devolves into Binghe Appreciation Hour. He forgets family and friends when they are not right in front of his face but he will think of Binghe, unprompted, three thousand times a chapter. He is, honestly, just as weird about Binghe as Binghe is about him, it's just expressed differently.

And for me, this is like... a load-bearing element of Shen Yuan / Shen Qingqiu's character. As in, if he is not at least a little bit insane about Binghe, he just does not come off as a version of SY to me. Might as well be an OC with the name. So you can imagine the kind of stress I'm under when starting to read a new SVSSS fic. Like, "a little bit insane" is already my expectations lowered as much as possible. If there's not even that?? ? How am I expected to handle this. I am running away. I am packing my little rucksack and going out to explore the world as a lone vagabond—

If you're doing the ask game, could you please recommend a Bingqiu modern AU where they spend a lot of time together. Extra bonus points if Binghe has an elaborate scheme to secure the attention of his (oblivious, but already doting) shizun.

i love seeing the way people translate bingqiu's Weirdness™ into a modern au! admittedly, i don't read a ton of longfic so idk what counts as spending lots of time together, but here's a couple that i think fit!

the rift that keeps on giving by Deisderium - one of the funnest "schemes to get shizun's attention" you'll find, because it involves lbh opening up a food truck and driving it out into the wastelands just so it can serve sqq while he's on a research field trip 😂 it's reverse transmigration with memory shenanigans rather than a straight up modern au, but i think this fic is super fun so i'm recommending it regardless!

he married meat by aaeph - lbh is a depressed chef and sy is a burnt out office worker, and both of them only manage to have a moment of reprieve when sy comes to eat lbh's food... except neither of them are Normal about it 😌 told as snippets of all the times they spend together, and from lbh's pov so you can see all the dumb stuff he does to try and impress sy even though sy is already Totally Into his food (and him) ehehe. also as a general rec, aaeph has a lot of fantastic freak4freak bingyuan fics (many of which is modern au) so check out all their stuff!

Why don’t you ship it? Honestly, never really heard of or thought about this ship before, and I don't really uhh participate in Yue Qingyuan much. For some reason he is unshippable to me, and I think it's because he's too easy to project onto and I don't like seeing any of myself or my relationships in anything I ship. I am rereading the books though, so maybe I'll have a different opinion.

What would have made you like it? Maybe just more exposure in fancontent and a shift of opinion on yqy ships?

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? It definitely has potential. There's a hint of enemies to lovers in there, even if it's faint. There's two sad middle-aged men who have lost a lot maybe finding something new in each other. Could be fun!

Don’t Ship It (mostly)

Why don’t you ship it? Literally because: Where is Binghe?? Where is my son?? What did they do with him? Why is SQQ not concerned? I also think these two could go decades without confessing anything to each other or even realizing feelings. I tend to read Liu Qingge as somewhere on the aroace spectrum and SQQ as bingromantic bingsexual. I don't really go for slowburn friends to lovers. Needs more zest.

What would have made you like it? More Luo Binghe. SQQ has two hands. More conflict (Binghe getting involved). Basically I read a lot of Bingliushen. Love bingliushen.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? Definitely. I think their relationship in canon is hilarious. Your life gets saved by your most despised shixiong, so you immediately become ride or die for them til the end of time? I think their relationship is beautiful and while I'm answering these asks from a romantic viewpoint, I do love their canon friendship a lot. I can see a good jumping off point for romance there.

THE dilf of all time of course 😩 I genuinely love him as a character he's so funny and I wish he got more screen time and fandom attention. Ofc I also have a lot of emotions about him watching his son basically get his good end (marrying a human happily) but honestly ... Not being malicious about it ? I feel like that's something that's not super common in the mxtx books, where a character's backstory so closely parallels another's but the one who's worse off doesn't openly sabotage the other or whatnot

Not that Shen Yuan knows that they are reincarnated characters of PIDW, but he's more than aware that he's the Very Odd one out of the family. He's not athletic and able to wield swords. 1) Man, I really can’t pick 😬 Maybe Shen Qingqiu because he’s the only one who did what he did with the assumption that he was gonna die regardless of anything he did. But mostly cause svsss is my favorite book of the three lol

2) Luo Binghe: something about him just hits every one of my “shiny new obsession” buttons

3) Now I really can’t answer this one 😭 all of them are equally as important to me as couples and have just as many heart-melting moments 💕

4) The only non-canon mxtx ships I care about all come from tgcf, and it’s Yin Yu x Quan Yizhen and Bai Jing x Ling Wen

Gender: Tianlang-jun is a man who enjoys shifting his body so that he can voice characters better when he's reading romances aloud to Zhuzhi-lang, who thinks his taste is a little tacky but who likes being read bedtime stories.

Sexuality: They invented the Jack Harkness Test for him, but sadly he's so into Su Xiyan now that he rarely ever uses his "hey, rock, aren't you foxy? Quick question, who's this rock babe in the mirror?" pickup line anymore.

A ship: Other than TLJ/SXY, I love TLJ/SJ and TLJ/JC. Very "I'm going to give your father a son he can be proud of" ships for me, lmao.
