does swiftpaw still die in this au?
Swiftpaw's Stand
Tumblr media
“She’s not going to give us our warrior names” he spat, clawing the moss of his bed while the apprentices around him listen, it wasn’t fair, Cloudtail had been an apprentice less then him, Brackenfur and Cinderpelt were younger when they were made apprentice.
And yet, he was still an apprentice, and now Thornpaw and Brightpaw were suffering the same thing he was.
Fernpaw’s tail  flickered, the young apprentice turning her head away “What should we do then? Come up to her and demand your ceremony? ‘Oh mighty Bluestar please spare us a warrior name!’ And! And we approach all demanding, I’m sure that’s a great idea” Ashpaw snickered at her sister’s comment, and he noticed Thornpaw’s gaze moving from him.
“We can only wait, right? Bluestar is old, maybe Fireheart will be leader soon and he’ll give us our warrior names!” Brightpaw tried to smile, lighting up the expressions, but neither one of the apprentices shared her sentiment, a leader like Bluestar, older than any of them, and how many lives were still left with her? It could be until the next New Leaf when they were given names…
“Unless you go around a spit that you don’t believe in Starclan then forget about your names” Ashpaw stretched and yawned, curling around himself dropping on his bed.
Swiftpaw’s gaze returned to his paws, unsheathing and sheathing his claws methodically as he pondered “We could do something brave” He muttered, the three apprentices still listening turned their heads toward him “We find what’s killing the prey, we get rid of it, and she’ll have no choice but to make us warriors” the more he spoke, the more hopeful his words became, louder until they were heard through the den “No one is caring about it! Not Fireheart nor Bluestar, but if we fix it and we prove them we’re brave they’ll have to make us warrior.
‘They’ll have to, right?’
Thornpaw was looking at him like he grew another pair of ears, Fernpaw’s gaze was worried but Brightpaw.
Brightpaw was facing away, her eyes thoughtful, and a small, barely noticeable curve of her mouth as she smiled.
“Snakerock’s” She muttered, jumping onto a fallen log, Swiftpaw followed as well, the rocks were barely visible in the distance, poking themselves from the underbush “Whitestorm is going to kill me tomorrow”
“Longtail too” he agreed, the two apprentices glanced to each other and laughed “But we’ll return warriors”
“...Do you think we can kill it?” she whispered, traitorous and consuming doubt, a flaw Swiftpaw had gotten rid of, there was no space to doubt, not when they were close enough to their goal.
“That or drive it away” his head high, he turns to look at her. Her slightly frightened expression pains his heart for a moment, and he pushes his head against her while purring “I’m your kin, okay? I’m not gonna let anything hurt you Brightpaw, I promise”
“I know” she whispers, returning the purr and closing her eyes “I’m excited, we’ll be warriors Swiftpaw”
“What name would you like?” He jumps down from the log, and waits for her to join her on the ground before resuming their treck towards the rocks “I want something fierce, like, Swiftclaw! Or or, heh, Swiftrock imagine”
Brightpaw laughs, shaking her head “I saw you as a Swiftfrost maybe” she walks faster, now the two of them starting to trot “I would like… Brightheart” he glances at her, his smile softening and nodding.
“Lionheart will be proud” she stops for a moment, her head rising high and nodding before taking off in a sprint towards Snakerocks “Brightpaw! Wait for me!” He calls.
The leaves and bushes hugged his pelt, yet they parted as he chased his friend through it, the only thing visible from where he was was the tip of her tail disappearing into the darkness of the night.
“Brightpaw!” He tripped, biting the dirt and coughing a bit as her tail disappeared to the bushes that hid the rocks “Wait! Come on…” he sighed, standing up, the fur on his neck standing by a chill air, and he stepped through the leaves shaking his head and looking down “I know you’re excited but come on we’re in this toge-”
Head looking up, his body froze as the beast charged towards him jaws open.
“-Swiftpaw… Swiftpaw… Swiftpaw!” it hurt to open his eyes, eye? he gurgled out a pool of blood (unsure how, his neck, he was bleeding, he felt it), with as little strenght as he could his gaze landed on Longtail’s face, his mentor in distressing looking at him, at him? No, his body, Longtail was examining his body, his wounds “We’ll get you to Thunderclan, okay? And Tigerfoot will patch up, just, stay with me okay?
He was crying, no, not him, Longtail was crying, those were his tears that fell onto his pelt, Swiftpaw wheezed and tried to crawl towards his mentor, but Longtail curled around, sobbing. They would not make it to Thunderclan.
Goldenflower wasn’t here? He hears his mentor deny and it makes him realize he can’t tell if what he’s thinking is actually what he’s saying.
“I got one…” He affirms, visible just beyond the embrace of his friend is the carcass of the beast that did this. Longtail nods, and he whimpers just low enough when the warrior licks his forehead in comfort.
He’s dying.
Dying...
It’s the warmth of being surrounded by his mother’s pelt while he watched Frostfur’s newly born kits suckle beside their mother’s belly, it’s the warmth of sleeping in a pile with all of his kin and friends because he was their protector, the oldest, he was supposed to be there and help them.
“Brightpaw… Brightpaw was hurt” Longtail is telling him they got her, they were rushing her to Thunderclan…
Good… At least she was safe...
You're dying Swiftpaw.
He's dying without a name. Without a mother beside him, without his friends to whisper memories, but at least one cat to mourn him...
That's enough, one cat is enough for him, he always liked Longtail, there was no other mentor he would rather have, but he wished there was another apprentice the other could've had... One that wasn't foolish like him. One that he would mentor to warriorhood, unlike him.
The shape infront of him is a shape that looks like a cat, but he's unsure, it's small and with a pelt covered of stars... no, she's bigger, she's a warrior with tuft of furs and big, with kind eyes and familiar face... was that Lynxkit?
You did good.
She sounds like Goldenflower, he's crying, he feels his heart beating, he doesn't want to die, he clings to Longtail and wheezes, claws digging into a golden pelt as he feels his body be carried, Lynxkit is following him.
You can close your eyes, you can sleep.
He's holding his eye open with all the strenght he can muster, he's creaming, the pain is burning him, the fangs are piercing his flesh.
Oh Swiftpaw...
He's dropped as gently as they can into a bed, there are shouts muffled by the body of his sister standing above him.
You'll be a warrior in Starclan, because you did good, you fought, you won! You saved Brightpaw you can rest.
From the corner of his eye, he watches as Cinderpelt busily works her sister's wounds, he feels large paws pressing the cobwebs onto his wounds and he screams from the pain.
Dying is the comfort of kithood and the thrill of being a warrior.
He can't let Brightpaw go through it alone, he won't abandon her, he can't.
Lynxkit stares at him, and she's just as small as she would be the time she died, she puts her paws on his muzzle and smiles, pressing her head to him the same way he did to Brightpaw, to her siblings, the same way her mother would do, in a way she told him his father had done to her many moons ago.
I'll wait once you're ready little brother, I'll be waiting.
He blinks for a moment, the pain is present, but she's gone, and with pain he goes to sleep, breathing, alive.

Note
sorry to spam you, but. what happens with scourge in your rewrite? he’s my favorite <3
Please, don't ever apologize for sending lots of asks! I love answering them and they can help me think of things I hadn't thought about before, or flesh an arc out. Send as many as you want, all of you!
Anyways, Scourge, the literal scourge of my brain, because I've had to rewrite him 3 different times.
This little guy has been reworked SO much. The first was to tell the story of a downfall, how sometimes people become worse than the people who hurt them, and pay for it, but showing that there was still 'Tiny' in there, having The Rise Of Scourge end with his spirit, now back to being Tiny, reuniting with Quince, while his older self faded away.
I... Hated the vibe. And I'm probably gonna save THAT kind of ending for someone else...
I then changed it to be somewhat more like Better Bones, but with Scourge remaining leader of Bloodclan.... But that also doesn't line up with the themes of Graystripe's Clan and Ravenpaw's Path, where Fury and Neo Bloodclan come into play.
I didn't wanna kill him. I didn't want him to join Thunderclan. I didn't want him to stay in Bloodclan....
Then, it hit me.
So... Meet the new Scourge. He can say the F word.
Scourge
His story is one about coming back from the brink of no return.
Firestar has noticed something about Scourge. The fur around his neck has rubbed off, his voice is brittle, swallowing is so difficult that he drools a bit, his breathing is shallow, and he's... Painfully underweight. Now, aside from the terrifying thought that is "how strong would this guy be if he WAS properly nourished?", he realizes that even if Scourge manages to make it through this battle, he will most likely not make it to next season.
In a flash, Firestar leaps onto Scourge's back, and sinks his teeth into his scruff and collar. Just like his new deputy Longtail did to him, he begins to pull, hoping and praying that Starclan will grant another miracle.
The collar snaps, just as Scourge is about to pass out, he takes in his first deep breath in ages. Firestar pays for it with his first life.
Swiftpaw, now posthumously named Swiftclaw, is chosen as his first life to lose. He feels the pain and terror and rage and desperation that Swiftclaw did, but he also puts pieces together. Why did this happen? The real why. Not just the dogs getting a taste for cat. Not Tigerstar's seemingly unending thirst for power. Before all that.
This problem is the fault of the Clans. Churning out radicalized youths who will hurt others because of the instilled belief that Might Makes Right. Sure, Scourge has taken things too far, and seems hellbent on revenge, but the seeds of this bloody battle were planted on Clan Land.
Blackfoot, Brokenstar, Leopardstar, Mistfang, Darkstripe, Longtail, even Crookedstar and Nightstar have all fallen victim to this belief at one point of another. Tigerstar was not made in a vacuum. This kind of "kill or be killed" mentality is not making the Clans strong, it is getting cats killed.
He sees another vision of himself fighting Scourge, killing him. But his sight flickers, and it makes him sick. Scourge's build is so much like Princess. His eyes the same shade of blue that Cloudtail has. He sees his own loved ones in the one he is fighting. He is sinking his teeth and claws into his own Kin.
And then, finally, he sees the vision of Tigerpaw being goaded by Thistleclaw to beat Tiny. Then Thistlepaw being rewarded by Adderfang for sparring with a Riverclan apprentice and tearing their ear. Adderfang charging into battle alongside his father, too eager to take a life from Heatherstar Heatherstep. Tigerclaw berating Darkpaw for failing a training exercise. Darkstripe getting his new apprentice Longpaw to eat prey instead of giving it to the sick elder... The vision ending with Longtail touching noses with the newly named Swiftpaw, a line of cats behind him so long it stretches into the shadows, endless kittens behind Swiftpaw, a mentorship doomed before it even began. Generations of cats hurting each other with no end in sight.
Enough is enough.
When he comes back to life, he slams against Scourge, dodging his attack again, and looking around to confirm his worst fears. All of Bloodclan's cats are fully grown. The Clans have brought apprentices. This victory is for the future, to Save The Clans as Fire Alone.
He slams Scourge against the ground, and knocks him out. However, Rooster, a Bloodclan cat, cries out that Scourge has been killed. To be fair to Rooster, Scourge is laying limp at the feet of Lionclan's leader.
While many Bloodclan cats scurry away, some to one day become Neo Bloodclan, Firestar taps the ground to call attention to Snowpaw, using a bit of Body Speaking to silently tell the deaf apprentice to sneak Scourge to camp, grabbing Scourge's torn collar and hiding it for later.
Bloodclan negotiations begin with the cats who stay and will later be seen in Graystripe's Clan.
Meanwhile, Snowpaw drags Scourge through the woods and sneaks him into Cinderpelt's den, scaring Cinderpelt half to death. She begins to treat Scourge, removing the enforced claw tips and gathering some food for him to eat without getting sick from the influx of sudden nutrition. Snowpaw is so friendly that he manages to become friends with Scourge while he is slowly recovering, hidden in the back of Cinderpelt's den and slowly putting on some weight as he eats with his friend while getting more comfortable with others. None of this would have happened if Snowkit had been taken by that hawk...
Eventually, he is healthy enough to groom himself properly and walk around. But... What now? Can he stay in Thunderclan? Would that be a safe option for him? Firestar is still teaching cats to unlearn their biases, and Scourge may be subject to suspicion and discrimination, which isn't fair to him.
Firestar talks with Princess, and the answer is clear.
His housefolk are not home now, haven't been in a week, but... Smudge is pretty lonely. Rusty left a bit of a hole there, he could use a good friend.
Scourge is brought to Smudge's home in the dark of the night, collar in his teeth, and welcomed inside. His collar tag reads 'Tiny' but with no phone number or microchip, Smudge's people take him in as their own, and Smudge isn't so lonely anymore.
Firestar left housecat life to be wild, proving himself with a broken collar, and Scourge is leaving wild life to be a housecat once more, saving himself with a broken collar.
He is seen during Firestar's Quest, slightly chubby and full of energy, and I might have him go on the Quest with them to round out the party. The important thing is, he is happy.
Princess's Short Story, currently unnamed, is about her passing, visiting her old friends and family as a spirit. She finds Scourge's spirit, along with Quince, Socks, and Smoke, enjoying a peaceful afterlife together.
He is allowed a place in Starclan and Sky-Starclan, and will reappear during Beyond The Stars as a supporting cast member.

Brightheart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brightkit - Brightpaw - Lostface - Brightheart
Kit - Apprentice - Warrior
Thunderclan
Mentor: Whitestorm
Apprentices: N/A
Grandmother: Speckletail
Auncles: Goldenflower, Darkstripe, Snowkit
Parents: Lionheart, Frostfur
Siblings: Cinderpelt, Brackenfur, Thornclaw
Mate: Cloudtail
Kit: Whitekit
Kin: Swiftpaw (cousin), Brambleclaw (cousin), Tawnypelt (cousin)
Brightpaw and Thornpaw were apprenticed after their siblings, due to illness, which didn't help when they were delayed their warrior names for a even longer time. Brightpaw was close to her cousin Swiftpaw, who's warrior ceremony was also far delayed. When they learned about the dogs, the two left to fight them in order to 'prove their worth'. This, of course, led to Swftpaw's death and Brightpaw's mangling. Bluestar cruelly renamed her to 'Lostface'. Though she suffered self-hatred, Fireheart and Cloudtail supported her. Especially Cloudtail. Lostface's self-confidence fell again after her first visit to Princess, but Cloudtail was with her every step. When Firestar ascended, she was given thenee name Brightheart. Cloudtail and her became mates, even visiting Princess again, who apologized profusely. The pair just had Whitekit, lovingly named after Brightheart's mentor, Whitestorm.

One of the things I wish was focused in on more in the books was the relationship between Goldenflower and Swiftpaw. It's never really touched on but Golden is his mom, and Tigerclaw indirectly murders Swiftpaw with the dogs. I don't really think we ever see Goldenflower's pov on this? I honestly wish we saw more of Goldenflower in /general/, with how much her kits were hated for merely being related to Tigerclaw.
Yeah, this could be said about basically ANYTHING in Goldenflower's life. To me, she's someone who just genuinely enjoys motherhood and caring for others! She's defensive of her kits, she stayed with Bluestar while she was ill, she was the first cat to run to Ravenpaw when he came into camp injuried, and she took care of Longtail after he was blinded and would describe surroundings to him.
Really, I could see her taking interest in the healer role/assistant after Tigerclaw's exile + Bramble and Tawny are weened! Maybe she had always been interested in it but didn't want to give up the opportunity to have her kits...
Here's some concepts of hers I would've personally loved to see detail on:
-Thorn, Bracken, Cinder, and Bright are all her nephews/nieces! Cinder and Bright are both permanently injuried because of Tigerstar.
-Snowkit was her younger brother, she was raising her own kits besides her mother Speckletail. Bramble, Tawny, and Snow were all being judged and questioned by others for things out of their control and it would've been amazing to see Speckletail and Goldenflower coming together to defend their kits.
-She grew up beside Bluestar. I like to think they were very close and it hurt her alot to see everything she was going through in her leadership. Goldenflower's mate had tried to kill her. Did Bluestar ever question her loyalty because of that? Did it hurt their relationship or strengthen it, since they were both betrayed? THIS IS YURI!
-She initially didn't plan on telling Bramble or Tawny who their father was. (Really odd writing choice imo to have Fireheart tell them anyways though LMAO?💀)
-Goldenflower nursed Stormfur and Feathertail and is said to love them like her own kits. She was upset to see then taken back to Riverclan- where Tigerstar eventually takes over and attempts to PUBLICLY EXECUTE them there. Storm and Feather had no mother and no kin in their clan, they must have missed Goldenflower alot :[
-If she had lived long enough to po3 she would have been a grandma! Though it wasn't intentional, I think it would be very sweet for Lionkit to remind her of Lionheart.
But that's all I can think of for now!! I love Goldenflower<33

I honestly can see how Cloudtail could be seen as not kin to Ashfur and Ferncloud.
He definitely saw Brindleface as a mother figure in my opinion, but that doesn't necessarily mean he had a sibling relationship with Ash and Fern.
- He was a little younger than them, and needed a lot of attention when he first arrived, so one can easily headcanon Ash and Fern feeling neglected and not playing much with Cloudkit.
- Cloudkit was given to Brindleface because she'd recently lost a kit, and Ash & Fern might resent him for "replacing" their sibling.
- Plus Ashfur later shows disdain for kittypets, so maybe he and Cloudtail never really got along partly for that reason.
- That would fit with why Cloudpaw takes to sneaking off to twolegplace instead of spending time with them when not training, the way apprentices / siblings usually hang out in the books.
- Then, they're all pretty young when Brindleface is killed, and with that last link disappearing early on, one can assume they go on in life seeing each other simply as clanmates, maybe becoming friends later on.
I'm not saying it's the one true interpretation, and the traumatic experience making them bond is just as sound in headcanon.
There's a million interpretations possible in Warrior Cats that can make sense when you think about them long enough. Cloudtail, Fern & Ash not seeing each other as siblings has enough canon backing to be one of them in my opinion.
I think it's less interesting narratively than them being close though. It's a shame the books didn't elaborate much on their relationship! I would have loved to have tough little Ashkit defending his new sibling from Swiftpaw trying to pick on him.

What if GoldenFlower? The angst of giving up her kits to try and be a leader, and make the clan a better place for them after Tigerstar betrayed them all. Having to separate from them despite the heartbreak, but thinking it's for the best
Only for it to lead to a feeling of isolation, and the two being more at risk for Tiger's manipulation
Ooh…. Hm…
Unfortunately, the Clan regards any blood or adopted kin as “family” — hence why a leader cannot ascend until they are the last of their immediate (father, mother, siblings, children) family. Swiftpaw would be dead by this point, but if Bramblekit and Tawnykit were born, Goldenflower would be out of the running.
But… Since Tigerclaw wouldn’t have sired them, point blank, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to shuffle Bramble and Tawny to a different mother… 👀

The Evil Firestar AU, or the Firemask AU, is a warrior cats alternate universe
Everything goes as normal, but when Rusty joins the clans, he is apprenticed to Tigerclaw (who is very unhappy about it). Ravenpaw is the apprentice of Bluestar. Meanwhile, Mapleshade is very interested in this new kittypet in ThunderClan (who starts talking his way in and out of trouble and saying very radical ideas about unifying the clans), and begins teaching him how to lie in the DF. There's a subplot of DF politics, but mostly things go as normal. Firepaw manages to convince Tigerclaw not to kill Ravenpaw for finding out about Redtail, and the apprentices all get their warrior names after rescuing the kits from ShadowClan.
Firepaw is named Firemask for the darker orange mask around his eyes.
Tigerclaw ends up killing Bluestar, and naming Darkstripe as deputy. Firemask kills Darkstripe. During that time, Cinderpaw has her accident in a trap that was set for Firemask. Tigerstar acknowledges the game has begun, and after that Swiftpaw and Brightpaw end up attempting to lead the dogs to Tigerstar. They fail, and both are badly wounded, Tigerstar killing Swiftpaw and leaving Brightpaw to die. Firemask and Ravencall (Ravenpaw's warrior name) bring her to the RiverClan border, telling her to run.
Firemask starts his own little group of his supporters.
With great reluctance from everyone involved, Cloudkit is brought to ThunderClan. Firemask starts worrying, and this gets worse when Graystripe and eventually Sandstorm leave for RiverClan (Sandstorm was going to have his kits, and didn’t want them to grow up there). After the TigerClan merges with ShadowClan, he stuffs deathberries in Tigerstar's prey, and that takes his second to last life. Then BloodClan attacks, along with RiverClan and WindClan. This time Scourge doesn't really care about taking over the forest, he just wants to kill Tigerstar. In the midst of the battle, Scourge and Firemask kill Tigerstar a second time, and the TigerClan cats are matched into the RiverClan camp.
Firemask manages to convince Leopardstar not to exile him, and gets passive aggressive nine lives. He is forced into picking Greystripe for his deputy (Ravencall was his first choice). He's not pissed, but not overjoyed at it.
He sort of reconciles with Sandstorm, and that's how the first arc goes. Mapleshade is clowning on Thistleclaw at the end.
That's the basic summary of the first arc, but there is a lot that I didn't go into.
This is the masterpost for those changes!

In the season of the holidays, let's talk about the Clan Culture of Gift-giving!
There are many different kinds of things that Clan cats give each other as gifts. I will show some of the different categories, feel free to ask about anything in them.
Flowers (for all intents and purposes, most flowers are no longer toxic to cats)
Flowers are a very common gift amongst the Clans. Different flowers also have different meanings. Lavender is given as a general "wishing you peace" as the scent has a calming effect. A rose is seen as a VERY bold gift, as they are mainly found in Twoleg gardens, and posses thorns. Stems, petals, and leaves are all seen as gifts themselves, but all parts of a flower have the same culture.
Scorchfur brought Snowbird tulip petals while they were courting. Quite brave and romantic since they come from Twoleg gardens!
Tree brought Needlekit and Rootkit daisies while they were small. Oops, that's a gift younger cats tend to give older cats. Thankfully they liked the smell.
Palebird liked giving heather to Woollytail, which is seen a nice, generic gift in Windclan. In any other Clan, it is pretty much seen as just friendly. Heather flowers were Woollytail's favorite though,
Generally, they are given to from any cat to any cat, but have their own meaning unlike human flower language.
Stones/Shells
Since shells are nearly Riverclan exclusive, I'm gonna throw them into this category.
Stones are seen as adult gifts. You don't give them to kits, they are given to fellow warriors. If a mentor gives one to their apprentice, it is seen as a HIGH compliment. Longtail gave a lovely smooth pebble from the river to Swiftpaw. Cloudtail buried it with him. Rainwhisker gave a jagged little stone to his friend Spiderleg, which he uses to help cut up mushroom pieces, good useful gift!
Shellheart, true to his name, gave shells to Rainflower while they were courting. She threw them all out when they split up. Crookedjaw gave a shiny shell to Willowbreeze when they got together. Silverstream kept it and it is now in Blossomfall's possession, as Blossomfall is Silverstream's daughter now.
Berries/Mushrooms/Nuts
Snacks! Snacks are great gifts! Anyone can give these out to anyone, and some have basic messages. They quite different from straight up meals. They are very often given from parents to children, especially nuts.
Acorns are very common in Thunderclan land, and Squirrelflight liked giving them to The Three for them to eat and play with.
A large beech nut tree grows on Riverclan land, close to their Windclan border. Beechfur would leave small piles of beech nuts for Gorsetail to find and give to their kits.
Mushrooms are more mature, since they have tastes that young kittens may not enjoy. They are most common found in Shadowclan's beautiful marshy land, but grow in other areas too. I'll be doing a post on the different mushrooms that grow in WCR. FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES THE MUSHROOMS USED IN THE STORY ARE NOT TOXIC TO CATS.
Toadstep made fried mushrooms (beefsteak mushroom) for Featherpelt during an Aftergathering while she was pregnant.
Berries are also incredibly popular! Whether for fur dye, food, or bait for hunting, every cat is happy to get gifted berries. They are most popular to give to cats you are either kin with or have mentored/been mentored by.
Puddleshine likes to give sloe berries to Shadowsight, as a bush grows on the Thunder-Shadow border.
Strawberries grow near the Wind-Thunder border, and strawberries are Leafpool's favorite snack, so Squirrelflight does her best to get lots for Leafpool, and got some for the Three.
Snowtail likes to give lots of blackberries to his mother Speckletail, as blackberries are both their favorite.
Feathers
Feathers are a lovely gift! They are often used in nest building or as toys for kits. (Or, if you for some reason make the hike up the mountain to the Tribe Of Snowy Peaks, used in sculptures) (except eagle feathers, which are only for nesting because of their stiffness being perfect for keeping nests together)
Note: You do not give Cuckoo feathers as gifts. Ever. It is seen as incredibly disrespectful. They are NOT gifts.
Icecloud likes to give robin feathers to her mom and dad, she makes sure they have nice nests, and knows that Dustpelt really likes the colour of them.
Ivypool found a large crow feather once and gave it to Blossomfall, who especially appreciated to softness while recovering from having their kits.
Tigerclaw gave Firepaw cuckoo feathers, because he knew Firepaw wouldn't know what they meant.
Clay
Clay pots, bowls and plates are all very good things. Most often given to Medicine Cats or Cooks since they get the most use out of them, they are the most frequent recipients. Each is very unique and has a different vibe.
Briarlight made a small plate for Jayfeather while she was in recovery, using her claws to make lots of different textures.
Bristlefrost made bowls for Rootspring and Shadowsight, they both still have them. They have her pawprint in the middle.
Curlfeather made Frostpaw lots of bowls, each with curly, looping designs on them...
Wood
Woodworking is difficult, but since the discovery of Fire, was revamped with woodburning. Tools and decorations are made, but while decorations are for anyone, tools are not for apprentices (aside from inheritance).
Pieces of wood are cut with sharpened stones and bone tools, then shaped as best as the WCR cats can get them.
Tools are important to the Clans, and inherited and passed down until the tool breaks, to which it must be replaced by the cat who broke it. Tools are a very high-value gift and a huge honor to receive.
Ashfur gave Ferncloud a small decoration, he burned a small pattern into it for the nursery to smell nice. She threw it out after his death.
Breezepelt gave his first litter (Smokehaze, Brindlewing and Needletail) their own tools when they were apprentices, despite the pushback he got.
Food/Meals
Food is always an amazing gift, especially when you know someone's favorite meal. You can always expect a meal gift if you are close with a cat who likes cooking, such as Sparkpelt, Strikestone, Featherpelt, Firefern, and Graymist.
To apologize to Daisy, Spiderleg made her favorite dish: scrambled egg. It was burnt in one part, undercooked in another, and not enough shell was in it, but Daisy told him it was the best meal she had ever had.
Spicy Chub Soup is Hawkfrost's favorite meal, so his daughter Cloudsnap learned to make it for him whenever he looks stressed out.
Squirrelflight makes Fried Squirrel for her family members, often drizzling it with honey as well.
All in all, giving gifts is done all year round, but a lot of gift exchanges happen at Gatherings or Aftergatherings.
Happy Holidays, whatever you celebrate!
