Condor – King Kukri Machete

The King Kukri machete is modeled after larger kukri examples from different regions in Nepal, and features a wide special fuller out of the middle (often referred to as a chirra) to give the large 12.6-inch blade a good amount of balance by removing some weight from its heaviest part, making this Kukuri much more lively and swift in the hand than would be expected from such a large bladed Kukri. The blade is crafted from well-tempered 1075 high carbon steel and is both tough and robust and well-capable of slicing and hacking through even very thick targets. The Kukuri is made as durable as possible by directly riveting its walnut grip scales to a very thick blade tang.

Included is a thick sheath of welted leather with buttoned retaining straps and a swivel-mounted belt loop.

Playing catch-up on Vol. 8 so I can be fully immersed in The Pain(tm) next week. Nothing terribly deep rn but I have some plant twins thoughts.

I can't help but think about how Knives and Vash are both being pushed beyond their limits, to growing black hair, by each other. It's the thing that Knives hates and blames humans for, but he's doing it to himself in the end. And his followers, explicitly Elendira and Dr. Conrad, are waiting it out while toeing the line.

And I think this conversation is a bit of a turning point for Vash, as he sticks up to Knives a bit more than we've seen, stands his ground, and doesn't crumble into a heap of self-pity quite as much. He's trying so hard, especially now that he has people who genuinely and deeply love him (Wolfwood, Meryl) who inspire him to fight harder. He's had some time to reflect on Knives' abuse and he's trying to call him out on it. Of course, our favorite hypocrite won't listen (do they ever?), but it's important that Vash tries.

I've said it before but this panel of Vash standing up to Knives really struck me, even on my first read-through several months ago at breakneck speed. Vash is trying SO HARD to talk some sense into Knives. He's assuming Knives might have some empathy for his brother, that he might listen.

It doesn't work, and it's heartbreaking to realize that it never will. Been there, Vash. You tried, and so valiantly.

When you boil it down to just Knives and Vash, Trigun really is a tragedy.

Oh yeah, and this is in parallel to Wolfwood's conversation with Chapel. (Is it weird that I see Chapel as a fucked-up father figure for Wolfwood? Is that valid?) Obviously Wolfwood is exercising some of Vash's empathy, trying to avoid killing innocent people (which sucks because Chapel goes and kills them right after, trying to show him there's no point to it, the people will die anyway). Chapel is trying to show Wolfwood that he will always be an agent of the Eye of Michael, it's something he can't change, can't escape - he was made to kill.

Wolfwood doesn't argue back. He can't. He's still struggling with his past.

This same volume shows us Wolfwood as a child in the orphanage, caring for a baby. He knows he wasn't always a monster. He knows the Eye made him that way, and of course Chapel is using some good ol' cult tactics to try to keep him reeled in.

Have you seen the term 'tactical weapon' used to refer to a blade. But is it tactical, or tacti-cool?

There's no definitive answer - tactical weapons are generally understood as modernized knives, axes or choppers. When looking at tactical weapons, remember that their construction is typically uncomplicated yet robust with popular materials such as stainless steel or titanium alloy. Although they often serve outdoors and survivalist activities, sometimes these specialized blades have been adopted for historical sword models, or take on a post apocalyptic feel -- like zombie cutters!

@androidships007​ asked me what Tactical Mona Lisa was like before she got her face exploded.The answer is that she was an absolute menace. Delivering Tank Girl vibes like she breezed in from 1995. She had a lot of anger and aggression from personal life stuff that she would expend on the battle field and caused a whole lot of damage in a nearly unhinged campaign of chaos. Her getting exploded was a pretty big win for the other side (Whoever they are.)

She has since calmed down. Which probably most if not all the turtles appreciate.

In the On the Run AU, how careful is Vash about showing up in the background of people's photos? I feel like his chaos energy wouldn't allow him to skip on photobombing, but in a "where's Wally" style. Poor police staring at a busy photo of some tourist, trying to spot him because dammit he's got to be there somewhere! He was on all the other's by this person! (spoiler, he wasn't)

An anonymous tip informs the police that Vash the Stampede was seen in Queens going down to the subway earlier that day. The subway security footage is immediately pulled and they rush to track his movements.

The footage shows him not only in Queens, but in Brooklyn and Manhattan as well, in each instance he is seen standing still in a rush of people, holding up a different sign. He is easily seen due to his height and signature red coat

The signs are white cardboard with thick block letters written in black marker, held above his head as he smiles and waves. There are assumed to be four signs in total as each one is numbered. The three found so far read, in the order he indicated, are as follows:

1/4 Hello Big Apple! (note: he is holding this sign in his right hand while he holds a red apple in his left hand)

2/4 My Evil Plan Is As Follows (note: he is wearing a false black goatee)

3/4 (note: still unknown)

4/4 On This Tuesday (note: he blows a kiss at the camera before letting himself be drawn away by the flow of the crowd)

The timestamps on the footage match up with his locations and order of the signs, an unaccounted gap of time between the second and fourth signs being of a sufficient length for him to have gone elsewhere for the third sign. But after combing extensively through the footage the third sign, possibly the most vital, is still not found.

Consequently on the announced date a large police presence manned the subway stations Vash the Stampede had been seen at and security drastically heightened. There was worry that he may strike at the unknown third location and therefore the footage continued to be examined up until the end of Tuesday and resumed again Wednesday morning.

Vash the Stampede did not appear.

However due to the increased surveillance of the stations explosives were discovered in multiple subway cars and successfully dismantled with no injury or property damage. Evidence so far points to a known eco-terrorist group with which Vash the Stampede is suspected of having ties to being behind the attempted attack. No statement was issued by the group leaving the situation ambiguous. As of the present all signs indicate that the incident was concluded with the discovery and removal of the explosives.

The third sign was never located and the possibility was considered that there may never have been a third sign.

. . . hehehe yeah so. I imagine that Vash does indeed love photo bombing (but not subway bombing) and one version of his wanted poster is taken from a tourist's picture. The one where he's smiling and has his fingers on his chin. However Vash has a knack of accidentally ending up in the background of photos and tiktoks just when he really needs to be lying low. Chaos ensues.
