LOVESONG ⌕ CHAPTER 01

Looking around the street, you would see a female who was feeling anxious. She was shivering, her hands were shaking. "You will be okay," she told herself. Taking deep breaths even though it didn't help, not even a little. She gulped nervously, hoping the anxiety would go away soon or maybe later. She was in the middle of the sidewalk, sitting down, plugging her ears as she heard people whisper to their family or friends or significant other or anyone.

Probably about her, nobody would help her just walk by or even stare at her. She cuddled up to her knees, and tears were falling. Her bag was on the floor, and the supplies were scattered around her.

Everyone could see her horrible drawings and paintings. "Sorry－oh my goodness!" Footsteps were running towards her. The person dropped their things and hugged her. "It's okay, it's okay, everything will be okay, I am here now." She felt warmth from the words and the hug. Looking up with tears in her eyes, she saw her best friend. "Taehyun?" She choked out.

Her friend smiled and nodded. "That's me," he said. She quickly hugged him with tears falling. He doesn't care if his shoulder is wet from the tears. He gently patted and comforted her while glaring at everyone around them who didn’t do anything to the poor female. "I'm scared," she cried.

"I'm here now. Do you want to go home?" He asked her. She shook her head. "But what about your shopping?" She asked her. He smiled while still hugging her. She was still selfless even despite her problems. She worries about others instead of herself. "It's okay, I can do it another day or something. It's not important at the moment."

He looked at her and wiped her tears. She smiled. "I'm sorry for ruining your shopping," she muttered. He gently stroked her hair. "You don't need to be sorry. Things like this happen a lot," he reassured her. She still felt guilty for ruining it.

He picked up her things before turning around, his back to face her. "Come, let's go home." She got on his back, then he carefully got home after picking up her bag and his own. Carefully hugging him, but making sure she wasn't suffocating him from behind. Once they reached their apartment, Taehyun punched in the passcode while his friend was still on his back. She was asleep from crying and shaking a lot. Once the door was unlocked, he opened the door and saw his partner in the living room. His partner looked at them and softened when looking at his friend on his boyfriend's back.

"What happened?" His partner asked him. Taehyun looked behind him and then back at his partner. "She has another anxiety attack," he said. His partner smiled and got up from the couch. He patted gently on her hair. "She is cute," his partner bluntly said.

"Yes, she is, but you are cuter." His partner blushed, carefully hitting his arm, not wanting him to let go of her. "Stop it." Taehyun laughed silently and kissed his partner's lips. "I'm going to bring her to her bedroom." His partner nodded before he went to her bedroom.

After making sure, she is warm in her bed. He kissed her forehead before leaving her alone. Taehyun came out of her bedroom with a sigh. His partner went up to him as he closed her door. "So, do you know what caused her anxiety attack?" Her partner asked him. He shook his head.

Taehyun met his partner in his first year of high school. They were one year apart and have been together since then. His partner was okay with him being affectionate towards his best friend. He doesn't mind it at all since he knows her and his lover. "No, but I think it got worse when people were looking at her." He said. His partner nodded. "Miyeong has been through a lot, hasn't she?"

"Yeah, she has been through a lot. A lot of friendship breakups, fights, parents fighting, etc," Taehyun said while holding his partner's hand. "I am not trying to be overprotective, just worried about her." His partner kissed his lips. "Me too. Let's take care of her until she finds someone who will love her in and out." Miyeong woke up from her little nap. She let her eyes adjust. Realizing she was in her bedroom, she sat up and winced in pain, a headache from all the crying and shaking, she assumed. Feeling a bit relaxed, she got up from her bed and grabbed a cardigan from her chair. Noticing it was 3:30 in the evening. She missed lunchtime.

With a sigh, she put on the cardigan and grabbed her bag off the desk. She went out of her bedroom. She saw Taehyun and his partner sleeping on the couch. She smiled at them. What a cute couple. She carefully put a blanket on them before sneaking out of the apartment. Once she successfully sneaked out, she went to her favorite cafe and sat at her usual spot before finishing her sketch that was due tomorrow.

Feeling herself shaking, she cursed. "Not again," she grabbed a water bottle from her bag and drank all of the water inside. It didn't help at all, even though it usually does. Taking deep breaths and closing her eyes, at her phone to see Taehyun was calling her. Calming down, not wanting to make it obvious, she answered the call. "Hello－." "Where are you?" He interpreted her. "I'm fine," she said while looking at her hands and feet, which were still shaking. She heard a sigh from the other side. "I will be there, don't move." "But－." The call ended before she could finish her sentence. Cursing at her phone while trying to think of something positive so her anxiety attack won't escalate.

"Stop!" She screamed with tears falling. Accidentally knocking off her water empty bottle. Her eyesight was blurry. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at her. "Great, now everyone is looking at me," she told her. She felt like she was in a car that was driving past its speed limit. Remembering her father driving recklessly and almost causing an accident when she was in her first year of high school. She almost died that day. That's how she was feeling right now. Closing her eyes and trying to take deep breaths. She heard muffled sounds.

She felt useless, then suddenly she was in the arms of someone. The perfume or cologne was familiar. Realizing it was Taehyun, she felt safe as tears fell down her cheeks.

Feeling so stupid at the moment. Taehyun was comforting her. He was also talking to some people who wanted to help. "Excuse me, does she need some water or something?" He smiled, looking at the empty water before answering, "Water would be nice." The person nodded and went to the counter to order water. He looked at her and felt she was still shaking due to her attack.

He picked up his phone to call his partner. "Beomgyu, could you drive to the usual cafe she always goes to? I don't think she is stable enough for me to piggyback her."

"Sure, I will be there in a minute." The call ended, and now Taehyun was focused on Miyeong. He saw the person come back with water and candy. "I also have anxiety, and candy helps me. I hope it helps her too," They said with a smile. He smiled back. "Thank you." He politely took it in his hand while the other was hugging her. "My name is Kim Sunoo, by the way," he said with a bow before walking away from the two friends.

Taehyun unwrapped the candy and put it closer to her mouth. He gently tapped on her shoulders. Miyeong opened her eyes. "Here, a nice man gave this to you for your anxiety." Her hands were still shaking, so she let him feed her the candy. It helped her calm down a bit, so she drank a bit of the water. Beomgyu finally came rushing into the cafe and sighed in relief when he saw them.

He saw Beomgyu and smiled. He looked at Miyeong. "Can you walk?" He asked her while signaling his partner to come. She got up. Caughting herself before she fell. Her friends shook their heads. Taehyun made her sit back before picking up her bridal style. He felt her legs were still shaking when he picked her up. Her eyes widened from the sudden action. "Hey, I can walk!" He shook his head. "No, you can't. You are still shaking."

"But won't Beomgyu be jealous?" She asked him before looking at Beomgyu, who isn't jealous even one little bit. He was smiling at her. "I'm not jealous and never will be." Miyeong was kind of in shock and confused. She knew anyone would be jealous if their partner did the same thing that her best friend did. "How?" She asked him in confusion.

"You can say I am not the type that gets jealous easily when it comes to you," Beomgyu winked. Miyeong was even more astonished. "Why does this feel like a throuple or something?" She mumbled. "It can be," Beomgyu suddenly said. She was speechless looking at him like he said something illegal. Taehyun was just focusing on walking to the car and not dropping off his friend. He heard the conversation that the two were having but not joining in.

Once they made it to the car, Beomgyu opened the back door so Taehyun could put Miyeong in the car without any trouble. Then he went to the driver while his partner went to the passenger side. She quickly put on her seatbelt with her not so shaking hands. "We are going to the hospital before going home," her friend spoke.

"But-" "No buts." She sighed and looked out of the window. She felt like a burden to her two friends. She went to dig her own grave. Beomgyu looked behind and saw her lost in thoughts. "Mi." She snapped out of her thoughts. "Yes, Beomgyu?" "If you are thinking that you are burdensome, you aren't." Miyeong just nodded before looking back through the window.

Once they arrived at the hospital, she was filling out some papers while Taehyun filled out the others. She has to be submitted to the hospital since her anxiety attacks are getting worse, and she needs some help. Beomgyu was just on his phone. "Cheong Miyeong!" The nurse called. She gave her half-finished papers to her other friend, who was on his phone before going with the nurse. Entering her doctor's office, she gulped nervously. Her doctor greeted her with a smile. "Good evening, Miyeong-ah."

"Good evening, Doctor Anh," she smiled back. The doctor looked at her computer. "So how bad is your anxiety attack?" She looked down. "It happens every day now twice and sometimes more each day." The doctor nodded. "You will be staying in the hospital and won't be admitted to the mental hospital since the last time you went. You almost have a heart attack." Miyeong nodded.

"You will go to therapy again twice a day. One in the morning and another in the afternoon when you are staying here." Again, she just nodded. "Any questions?" She shook her head. The doctor patted her back. "You will be okay." Miyeong smiled at her doctor before leaving the office. She sighed and went back to her friends. Taehyun and Beomgyu have already finished the papers. They saw her and gave her a warm hug. She felt safe in their arms. They broke the hug.

"Miyeong, come, let's get you in your room." The nurse came to her. She nodded before turning around to her friends. "Both of you, don't miss me, and don't go crazy," she smiled. Beomgyu was slightly blushed when she said the last part. "Yeah, yeah, now go. We will visit when we can," Taehyun said. She smiled before following the nurse to the room.

BeomGyu looked at Tae Hyun in the distance. His ex boyfriend. He doesn't remember why they broke up but now TaeHyun had someone else and he probably wouldn't have time to think about him.

"Why...?" He asked in a whisper to himself as he watched Tae smile and laugh with YeonJun. Taehyun's current boyfriend.

A small tear escaped from his eyes, which he immediately wiped away and decided to leave so as not to continue torturing himself, how did Tae get over him so quickly? why couldn't he do that?

TaeHyun on his side, saw Beom in the park and the desire to go with him, wanting to talk and fix things became present but... he couldn't, no. They were no longer boyfriends, nor did they look at each other. They were as if they were simple strangers to each other.

"Everything is to save companies"

Those words from his father stayed in his mind, that was one of the reasons why they broke up, Tae would marry YeonJun just to save a damn company that he didn't even care about.

"You must continue with the family business, forget about being an idol Tae"

BeomGyu was the only one who supported him in his dreams.

"Did you hear me, TaeHyun?" YeonJun asked, looking at Taehyun expectantly after seeing him so distracted.

The truth is, now that Tae see YeonJun well, he could perfectly be the ideal type of person, he was attentive, tender, generous, friendly, funny, cute and he had a very nice smile, but the problem was that Tae don't in love of him, no, he was not BeomGyu.

A fleeting memory of BeomGyu came to mind and a sad smile played on his lips.

"How did we get to this Gyu? How come you don't even talk to me anymore?" He asked himself, looking at his reflection in the mirror.

Her eyes began to fill with tears but she just gave another sigh and blinked several times so that they were no longer there, then she lowered with a smile.

"We have to start the preparations Taennie" the pink haired spoke with a smile.

Tae just smiled and nodded.

"H-how is he going to get married?" The boy asked his friend, completely confused and hurt.

"Yes, Beom, I found out this morning, the news is everywhere..." Huening Kai explained cautiously, who understood his hyung's situation.

BeomGyu felt twice as hurt, if he could hurt more than he already was.

"He... this didn't have to end like this... I... I still love him, damn it!" Her voice began to crack and her eyes began to shed tears.

Huening looked at him sadly and understood that perhaps he should be alone.

"Beom, I'll go with SooBin, you're looking for anything, okay?" He spoke with a slight smile to reassure him.

Beom nodded and Huening left him alone.

"Tae, how did all this happen? I miss you..." He said to himself looking out the window of the place.

TaeHyun was walking down the aisle with the best smile he could maintain that day, all the people around him looked at them happily and tenderly, believing that they loved each other and wanted to be together forever and forever, no one imagined that it was a forced marriage. I get to the altar and the priest began with the vows.

"Choi YeonJun, do you wish to love, protect, care and support TaeHyun until death do you part?"

"Accepted"

"Kang TaeHyun, do you wish to love, protect and support Choi YeonJun until death do you part?" Tae was silent and looked at his parents and then at YeonJun.

Tae didn't say anything and just hugged him letting his tears run down his cheeks.

"I missed you" He said through tears and in a small whisper that the other man managed to hear.

And that was enough for BeomGyu to hug him too and cry with him.

"Me more" Replied the boy in the same way.

The smile on both was inevitable, now they weren't crying with sadness, they were crying with happiness to be with each other together again. They broke away from the hug and looked into each other's eyes with their faces soaked with tears and TaeHyun's red nose.

"I love you Gyu, I always loved you and I promise never to get away from you again." The redhead whispered, joining his forehead with BeomGyu's.

" love you too TaeHyunnie, I promise not to let you go again."He promised in the same way.

They both smiled at each other and little by little their breaths began to collide to give each other a tender kiss where they transmitted all the love that could not be given in so long.

Review:

I stopped reading fics for a while as I felt a little detached from this ship. So when I felt nostalgic for yeonbin again, instead of going to read new fics, i turned to the classics. And this one is a classic. One of those fics that everyone in the fandom probably already knows but for good reason. This fic is 70k words of slow burn, pining, misunderstandings, unrequited love, and fluff. This fic is basically hand crafted to check off all the things I like to read. 

It is a continuation of a short fic the author posted and wanted to expand. It’s called Just One Kiss. I would highly recommend reading that first, its quick and cute and yeonbin make out at a kissing booth. Super cute!

This fic revolves around Yeonjun who is pining after Soobin. Who happens to be in love with his best friend Hueningkai. Yeonjun tries not to fall in love with him and fails and the whole time he’s trying to be Soobin’s friend all while hurting himself because he can see just how much Soobin loves kai. 

I think what I love most about it is how cozy it is. It’s a university au, their friend circle is small. This was written in 2020 so it still has that cute puppy love feel to it without the reality of yeonbin divorce in 2021. 

Over all, it is a slow burn. You get taken into Yeonjun’s life trying to navigate a blooming friendship while trying to succeed in his university dance group and trying to avoid his feelings. So despite it taking a while for yeonbin to get together, you’re left with a fic about friendship and what it means to talk through your feelings. 

I love fics like this where you get taken into their world and by the end, despite it being a happy ending, you feel so sad because you have to say goodbye to the characters. 

And the best part, beomgyu and taehyun are a side ship. I feel like a lot of taegyu fics are angsty so I always love to see writers put them as a cute couple in love in the background.

Where Taehyun goes to the beach on summer break and that’s where he spots Beomgyu who is a brand new life guard.

One day, Taehyun decides to go to the beach and that’s where he notices a new lifeguard. Right then is when he makes a decision to visit the beach more often just so he can secretly watch the pretty red headed lifeguard in those cute little red shorts.

After a few days, he gets an idea to pretend to drown and that’s when Beomgyu takes action to save him.

Beomgyu doesn’t realize how hot the man actually is until he attempts to perform cpr. He kneels next to the body and puts his hands on the man’s chest to start the compressions.

“1, 2, 3, 4.”

But then Beomgyu gets distracted by the firm, toned muscles underneath his hands and halts his movements. He immediately realizes he forgot one of the most important things from his training you should do before you perform cpr.

He panics.

“I FORGOT TO TELL SOMEONE TO CALL 911.”

Suddenly Beomgyu hears a chuckle from the body underneath him that he was attempting to save. His gaze shifts downward and he sees the man was looking back at him. The eye contact made his heart leap.

“Aw I was waiting for you to give me mouth to mouth as an excuse to kiss you.”

Taehyun noticed how the cute lifeguard’s face was turning red. It was evident that he was flustered. Taehyun thought to himself how extremely adorable he is and wants to ask for his number.

“What’s a man gotta do to take a cutie like you on a date?”

Beomgyu was speechless. He just stares for a few moments to process this man’s words. After some pondering he made a decision. He would consider himself stupid if he were to reject him. This man was undeniably irresistible.

“My shift ends at 6.”

Pleased with that answer, Taehyun finally sits up and Beomgyu gulps at the sudden closeness.

“Perfect. I’ll pick you up here at six.” He winks then stands up to head back into the ocean to cool off from the blazing hot sun.

They hadn’t learned each others names or got each others numbers but Beomgyu supposes that he will find out those things later on their date.

As Beomgyu is sitting in the lifeguard chair, there is a small, genuine smile on his face while he is patrolling the beach. He takes quick glances every so often at the man who asked him out on a date.

Happiness with a mix of slight nervousness take over him. Beomgyu anticipates for this date. He can’t wait for his shift to end so he can get to know this handsome man that he was so determined to save, yet didn’t need saving at all.

Perhaps this man didn’t need to be rescued from drowning and his heart needed to rescued instead.

Beomgyu will gladly be that person for Taehyun.

September 26th, this day would have been special if it weren't for the fact that I broke up with you, almost two years together, if it weren't for the fact that I broke up with you before the second year. And here is an 18 year old boy walking alone on the streets aimlessly, looking at the stars thinking about everything that happened.

The stars seem to be telling me to go back to him, that I need him in my life.

And just for the sake of going somewhere aimless, I ended up on a bar seat, drinking a few glasses in silence and alone, slowly, the night is long so I can depress myself in peace.

I was feeling pretty overwhelmed with everything, Beomgyu was always my support, still I let him go... for my sake.

It was so strange to have such a conversation with him now.

—Did your life become chaos...?—He asked, he looked at him again and I saw how he drank from his glass of whiskey, he was looking at me in such a penetrating way that I swore he knew what I was thinking.

I let out a sarcastic laugh, he knows I don't share those thoughts and yet he insists.

I watched him for a few seconds, blinking several times, that was mine, let him look up his sentence.

I smacked his arm.

—It's my sentence, you don't finish it. Dumbass—I said and wrinkled my nose, I used to do those things too... I was annoying.

He let out a laugh.

—Well, shut me up for next time—he said amused.

—Yes, in one fell swoop—I said almost threateningly.

Another laugh, is he sick or why is he laughing so much?

We were silent for a few seconds, it was uncomfortable. We continued like that for many, too many, very long seconds, until I finally spoke.

—TaeHyun...

I made a little sound with my throat, giving to understand that I heard him, while I finished drinking my second glass of beer.

—Why did you finish me?—He suddenly blurted out, I choked a little on my alcoholic beverage.

God, I would have preferred the awkward silence.

—I... I don't know.—I whispered the last while playing with my fingers around the glass.

—TaeHyun...—He called back.

I looked up and in less than a second his lips were on mine, they were moving so softly that I couldn't help but close my eyes and reciprocate, my arms went around his neck and he put one of his hands on my chin. To feel this again was... beautiful, I felt again the churning of emotions in my stomach, maybe it was the alcohol in my system or my nerves, but I swore I wanted to vomit, his lips were even better than I remembered.

We had to break apart for air. Damn air.

We both had our foreheads pressed together and our breaths hitching, I couldn't help but smile.

Without saying anything, BeomGyu grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the Bar.

And here we see two teenagers running through the streets when they remembered they didn't pay for the drinks.

—If I end up in jail I'll blame you all your life—I joked as I ran away from the bartender who was following us.

—It wouldn't be the first time, now run— he said as he laughed.

—BeomGyu!—I said laughing in the same way.

I didn't think I'd see myself running through the subway in trouble again and even less with BeomGyu by my side.

We both ended up in the park that was nearby, behind some bushes, both lying on the grass.

—Calm down TaeHyun.—Beom said to me, but I could not.

The situation made me laugh more when I remembered the thousands of times that we both ended up spending the night in jail because of escapades like that, it was clear that our relationship was something unforgettable, Beomgyu was always someone quite spontaneous.

—I'm sorry.— I said while I was holding a laugh, God, this was so funny—Do you remember the last time we went out?

And I burst out laughing again.

—YeonJun had to bail us out of jail that time.—he commented, laughing a little.

—Yeah... That wouldn't have happened if someone, I won't name names, had thought to bring money and pay the restaurant, maybe it wouldn't have ended up like that.

—I already explained to you why I didn't bring money TaeHyun!—He exclaimed defending himself, it was true, he didn't bring it because he forgot it at home because he was so nervous to see us again.

—Yes, but it was so funny.— I commented, finally calming my laughter.

—Anyway, it was fun, look on the bright side TaeHyun.—He said smiling.

I rolled my eyes and stopped looking at him to look at the stars with a slight smile.

I felt him settle down next to me on the grass, we were both looking at the stars in calm, there was silence and this time it was comfortable, as if the silence said everything that can't be said with simple words.

We stayed a few minutes in just silence, just enjoying each other's company, until BeomGyu spoke.

—TaeHyun.

—Yes?

—Why did you break up with me?

That question again.

I was silent only and turned to look at him, he was looking at me waiting for an answer so I just went straight.

—I was afraid—I confessed

He looked at me confused.

—Afraid of what?

—That you'll leave me.

—What? TaeHyun-

I interrupted him.

—Y-You... you'd already go to college, this would be your last year in high school and... and we'd be separated, you'd meet new people that might catch your attention and you'd leave me aside and that I... I couldn't stand that... I turned my eyes to the sky... My chest hurts just thinking that I wouldn't have you with me and I could lose you, that you'd get away from me, so... I decided to get away from you first, so the moment you leave and forget me, it won't hurt me... or at least, not so much.

Finally, I said it.

The lump in my throat grew bigger, I was struggling internally not to cry.

—TaeHyun, a person never stops meeting new people, that's life and you have to adapt to it.

—After we finished, I met new people, several of those people will be going to the college I will be going to.

Who would call me at three in the morning just because one of their book characters died? Who would listen to those complaints about how boring horror movies are? No one, TaeHyun, you are unique and that's why I can't get you out of my mind at any time, no matter what I do, something always reminds me of you and because of that I live constantly thinking about you, just waiting for the weekend to come so we can both snuggle between the sheets and watch movies, I promise you, I wouldn't trade you for anyone, no matter how many people there are, I only want you. Now I'm crying.

—I wiped away some tears that maybe came out without my permission, I love you too... very much.

He let out a laugh and hugged me, I could have pushed him away and run away to cry in peace, but it's better to cry in his arms.

—This counts as a reconciliation..?, I can't stand not being able to sleep with you any longer.—he said and left kisses on my forehead.

—I guess so... can we go to your place and watch a movie before we go to sleep?

—If we don't get caught by the police on the way, then yes.

I let out a laugh, I really, really missed him.
