personally i find it deeply boring that amc iwtv is so insistent on the main focus always being on loustat/lestat himself. yes he is the narrator of the majority of the books and yes he is a major character, but iwtv is interview with THE vampire, the vampire being louis. the main character is louis. putting more lestat into s2 works well enough to transition from s1-s2 and as a visual means of literally haunting the narrative but amc is starting to seem like its making everything about lestat, when it shouldn’t be (at least not during the events of the first book and this particular interview) it’s about louis. louis’s life, his relationships- with lestat but also with others (claudia, armand, his own family, hell even DANIEL)

tldr i don’t like how lestat seems to be becoming more of the main character than louis.

Favourite fantasy book series

I'm due for a reread for several, if not most of these, and I'm really interested to see how they rank with other people!

So please vote for your favourite of these and let me know which ones I've missed!

In no particular order:

The Lord of the Rings isn't on there because it has the uncontested top place in my heart, mind and soul forever and ever anyways and I can't chance it not taking first place in a poll on my blog, I would probably literally cry.

ik it's like Late now and idk how many will see this but as a little closer to anon reunion party bash 2024 . i just want to say that it was a real treat seeing all of y'all . and im really happy that bein a silly goofy anon on my silly goody blog was smth memorable enough to make you want to come back and pop in and say hi even if it's been 4 years and we're not in any connected fandoms anymore . y'all're incredible and my ask box is ALWAYS open if you want to pop in for any reason, any time . and even if our paths have diverged far enough that a pop-in is all you're really lookin for im still really glad to have seen u today and to have known u as i did back then . hope y'all've lovely rest of evenings, rest of weeks, rest of lives, and everything in between and outside :]

I'm currently too busy to completely freak out about the Jean book news, but believe me that I'm going feral in the most low-energy, lying on the floor, no expression on my face kind of way.

I decided to give a go to @niennanir’s lovely print-your-own-fic recipe on my Inside and Out as a test run and I’m quite pleased with the results as a first pass :D

I wish I’d taken a few more process pictures but there was a slight lull as I had to go shopping for 12x12 cardstock lol, but! I do have a couple closeups/extras that I added for funsies :D

I went with freehanding the title and I think in the future I would opt to not do that lol, at least not without a printed template. That said, both LibreOffice and SAI refuse to recognize my SCII fonts >:0 If you notice on the first page, I used the Ace Attorney font in italic haha, it’s an okay alternative even if it’s not what I actually want |0 I am happy with the gold detailing tho :3c

I did have an unconscionable amount of fun freehanding the ship caption tho ahh <3 <3 Immediate happy stims upon completion, their names together look so pretty ♥ Credit to Zarla’s original minicomic on that one :3

I also managed to get the last sentence of the fic isolated on the last page thanks to the formatting haha ♪

I was also able to add a bookmark! Ma happened to have a couple very thin ribbons to choose from and red ended up complementing the green very prettily!

It reminds me of VUX tongues hehehehe ❤️💕💖💞

Before We Were Trans (Kit Heyam): I finished this last night and I am so happy that this exists. A challenge to the existing frameworks of what we call Trans History, purposefully intersectional and broad in its exploration

Brand New Ancients (Kae Tempest): This came out before Kae did, so ignore the name there. A beautiful story in poetic form, you can see it was intended to be read out loud. Reconsidering mythologies and gods

Shikhandi And Other Tales They Don’t Tell You (Devdutt Pattanaik): A queer exploration of Indian mythologies and religious stories. I have a lot to learn here, and I’m so glad this perspective exists

I Sexually Identify As An Attack Helicopter (Isabel Fall): A short story that sparked a lot of conversation about how we forcibly out creatives, genuinely an interesting set of questions about what happens when queer gender rights are appropriated by militaristic society

The Prophets (Robert Jones Jr.): Rethreading queer lines that were broken under slavery, centres two enslaved men on a plantation, while creating queer cultural roots through space and time

Detransition Baby (Torrey Peters): A story about a detransitioned trans woman (now cis man) who accidentally gets a woman pregnant and tries to find a way to queer parenthood. I’m pleased I read it and definitely recommend, but there were elements that I struggled with. The detransitioned character was so worth following

Braiding Sweetgrass (Robin Wall Kimmerer): Recommended to anyone who’s feeling climate doom, especially to get us out of an individualistic headspace and into anti-colonialist allyship with one another. Also plants. Remember to thank them

A Bright Room Called Day (Tony Kushner): Can’t believe I never read (or watched) this play before, considering it’s Kushner and I was a baby theatre gay, but I found it very healing in our times + Kushner’s musings in the 1994 afterword, thank you @mimsyaf

Between The World And Me (Ta-Nehisi Coates): A letter to his son. I don’t even know what else to say, go read it

Thanks again for the tag, I feel like if there’s one thing I actually have had the energy to do it’s read a lot (ngl it’s been a coping mechanism/avoidance tactic at times) and I always want to !!!! about it. I noticed with this list I’m currently drawn to books about creating/recreating threads; historical, mythological, political, communal. I’m very much feeling the potential power of finding similarities, allyship, and family, rather than cutting ourselves off into individual causes and clear-cut hierarchical identities. Some of these books were for me to find myself in and some of them were about listening. I think that’s an important balance too.

There was an itch I had to scratch, so here’s one of their (two?) children (and the oldest), Vivienne Tog//ami. 

Unlike her mother, she doesn’t tame her hair with braids and is fine leaving it out and free. Dissimilar to both parents, she isn’t an excellence in academics (don’t doubt her though), more rather, she is creatively intelligent. 

Byakuya definitely didn’t know what to think of it at first (especially due to the fact he’s going against his family inheritance system by only having children with one influential women and all ‘heirs’ will run the conglomerate in tandem). But oh boy, he is (predictably) hit with the ‘fatherly instincts’ and absolutely adores her. She’s a dada’s girl, alright. Vivienne and her father play piano together. 

Although she’s her father’s “perfect little princess”, she’s a little bit more unhinged with her mother. Byakuya promotes composure and calm in her (teaching her patience), while S/I really bolsters her creativity. S/I taught her how to paint and fall in love with the world around her (S/I has completed her character development and found true content in life by then, no longer measuring her worth by her achievements).

Overall, she’s extroverted and bubbly, but still remains a realist at heart. She definitely does the An//ya For//ger “heh” face a lot when she’s messing around with her mum and friends. 

S/I works with the Fu//ture Foun//dation (in public relations, like Byakuya did) though is much more of a diplomat after the tragedy. Byakuya occasionally is partnered with the foundation in his work, along with managing the remains of the Tog//ami conglomerate. Both tend to work a lot more from home as they value spending time with their child (especially considering how they were treated by their families). 

Byakuya really does love his little family to bits. Yes, he has been domesticated. Though, he’s only so soft for his girls, hehe.

i have been receiving and reading daily poetry emails for quite literally every day of my adult life. yet somehow every time i seek to compile collections of quotes for people, there is a solid 70% chance a line from andrei bely will creep in there, a man who normal english-speaking people have never heard of and who i obsessively read every single one of his works i get my hands on.

i feel like both of these are if not individual red flags, at least yellow ones, and they are both things that make me go "fucking of course you write urianger, you weird little fruit"
