The first mistake I see people make is assuming there are completely "nonviolent" ways to be transphobic. It seems like some people conceptualize transphobia as being either violent (which is always physical in some way) or nonviolent (which is "simple" emotional, verbal, or psychological abuse)

It seems, also, that people presume that when somebody has "noble" intentions for their transphobia - "I'm trying to save you!" for instance - it is suddenly nonviolent. Consider, though, how a transphobe would "save" a trans person. Would they allow that person to exist unadulterated (including being able to transition), or would they prefer to put them through conversion therapy, or revoke their access to bodily autonomy, or force them to have children, or anything that will prevent them from transition or even identifying as trans or otherwise tying them down with the obligations that prevent transition or identifying as trans?

There is no true "nonviolent" way to be transphobic because being transphobic relies on denying one the ability to autonomy and personhood. Fundamentally, even the transphobes who "want to save us" only do so in their own self-interest to save them from the horror of knowing that more people than they are alive and thriving.

I've seen people who are otherwise ideologically opposed to me- speaking out against the revisionism happening with theyfab. I'll even take folks who are like, "well it's not a slur- but it's just plain dishonest to act like it has anything to do with critiquing transmisogyny." Like 4chan cis men invented it, it's a slur still drenched in its original transphobic misogynist context- but whatever! These folks have a better platform to stand against this shit than I do because they share community with the people defending it. I don't care who does the convincing or how.

sorry to my followers who are long time 911 fans and/or multishippers but... to me, the buddie fandom is the most toxic one i have seen, personally. and honestly... didn't anyone see this coming? the crowd who cries about queerbaiting when there was none, talks shit about other canon LIs and the actresses who played those roles, and harasses cast and crew on social media - and before season 7/bucktommy happened - demanding their fanon ship becomes canon? like. you can't be surprised. yeah, now they've turned against queer fans who are enjoying a canon queer relationship, because it's Not Buddie (therefore it's bad and wrong!) but this has been a long time in the making. sorry.

i just don't fucking understand how one ship can brainwash people to turning against their own community. and ok, straight people being openly homophobic, what else is new.. but fellow queers? over a fictional show with made-up people.
