"I can save you." The spider told Martin.

The silver worms wiggled their way inside from every single crack and hole they could find. The ceiling, the vents, the cracks on the wall, the faucet...

There were even maggots coming out from the empty cans of peaches.

Though Martin couldn't tell if they were real or just the beginnings of a hallucination.

At this point, it felt like there was nothing else outside his apartment, just a black void full of worms slowly eating through the walls.

"I can save you." The spider repeated, cleaning its fangs. Its eyes were like big black dots of the cosmos, as if they promised a void with no worms, just a mesmerizing, peaceful quiet.

Martin had run out of food and water a long time ago. Even if the worms didn't reach him, he was sure to die before long.

"I can save you." The spider told Martin. "It will just cost you small price."

Did he have a choice?

Headcanon #134:

Mind has a bunch of plants & flowers that he takes care of insanely well. A solid chunk of its room and the house itself has its plants just scattered about.

Heart has a couple as well and they're pretty good at taking care of them. He has a few succulents in his room + some herbs & spices he uses for cooking.

Soul has like...one small cactus & a spider plant that is constantly on the edge of death. Bro can NOT keep a plant alive no matter how hard he tries.

I think it's absolutely hilarious when spiders are afraid of humans and will run away like "EW A HUMAN!!!"

Theres a biiiig orb weaver spider on the patio and it has a very beautiful web that I like to admire. Now I'll admit I am afraid of spiders and im trying to get better at not being afraid (mostly by thinking of them like I do the crabs, multi-legged little dumbasses (affectionate)). So I was admiring the spider itself yesterday and talking to it, then I went around the other side to look at it, well apparently I was talking to it's back, and when I came around it SCURRIED up the web so fucking fast that it made me think of how people react to seeing spiders sgdgdggdgd it really looked like it said "EW A HUMAN! SMASH IT!!! :0"

I might be wine drunk right now bit how chill you are with wasps even though one is bugging (hehe) you and you have been stung before just seems so good to me!! Like I donot know you but I feel proud thst you care enough about a wasp to stay kind! I always freak out cause I was stung omce and now these critters scare me but, I'm trying, and I think I wanna be able to act like you. Around wasps. Very positieve sweet post, thanks :) Just wanted to say, I like your attitude about them little yellow bugs :) (I checked for spelling errors but there might still be many, sorry)

Haha I'm glad it was appreciated! I don't know when I became really chill around critters, but I did realize recently that I have become that person who's like "Ugh it would be so much simpler to just kill this bug in my house because it's in an inconvenient place, but no, I feel morally obligated to catch it and let it outside 🙄" haha. The thing about a lot of stinging flying insects is that they generally won't sting unless they're disturbed (i.e. a bee had climbed into my jacket sleeve in an orchard, so when I put it on, it freaked out, validly—though there are some hornets that are a bit more aggressive) so I try to keep it cool and stay aware of where they are near me, and it's worked pretty well so far!

We did have to get rid of a hornet's nest recently that was next to the front door, which I did not enjoy, but there are limits to interactions. Actually, I just read A Honeybee Heart Has Five Openings and am currently reading Braiding Sweetgrass, and both of them have some applicable discussions of interacting with nonhuman life (and the first with bees in particular), so highly recommend checking one or both of those out if you're interested!

In general though I tend to let the urban wildlife do what they're doing, and don't move too quickly around them, and normally that cuts it, though I do draw the line at the squirrel that tried to steal my lunch the other week. -_-

But my newest insight is that ALSO Friar Lawrence should really be the Elder Butch who lives on the edge of town and has the best garden and a million plants and crystals and a large dog probably. And Romeo goes there to talk about her girl problems and get tarot readings
