This gem belongs to p.344 where Stubb wonders if Fedallah means to kidnap Ahab, which was such a baffling ridiculous concept that I couldn't help but make fun of it. literally Ahab snuck this man on board bro, what the fuck is fedallah going to do to him. they're playing uno. shut up

this goes out to chapters 93-95, because the UNREAL whiplash from "a child was just abandoned at sea" to "hey let's be horny about whale sperm" is still the most insane transition of all time. Ish, what the fuck

I was looking for the name of a Moby Dick harpooner that I couldn’t remember (Tashtego) and it was bothering me. I saw this description of Captain Ahab and thought it was like Napoleon!  

The egomaniacal captain of the Pequod. Ahab lost his leg to Moby Dick. He is single-minded in his pursuit of the whale, using a mixture of charisma and terror to persuade his crew to join him. As a captain, he is dictatorial but not unfair. At moments he shows a compassionate side, caring for the insane Pip and musing on his wife and child back in Nantucket.

The other night at trivia, there was a question about Moby Dick.

While everyone considered their answer, the DJ played "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor.

The moment I heard those opening strings and the steady, solid, wooden cadence of the beat as my mind thought of a surging ship over a cold, gray sea broken by the white flukes of foam and leviathans...I need a new Moby Dick movie made As Soon As Possible, and I need that song over a whaling montage.

At this point, I shouldn't be surprised that Ishmael has tried to swing sinking into the sea, drowning trapped in a decapitated Sperm Whale head as a great way to go, but he continues to find new ways to astonish me.
