I also want to point out a critically missing skill among students these days is the ability to save a document with an identifiable name in a retrievable location.

This sounds like it should be a non-issue, but this is a skill that is not being taught that is really screwing students over down the road. You need to keep digital copies off your own documents on a device you own. Overreliance on Autosave in general is keeping people from being able to use word processors in the very basic ways.

I frequently hear from students who have lost their own work because they did not know where it was saved and could not retrieve it again. You need to keep copies of your own work no matter what you're doing.

Instagram and Facebook have recently blurred, blocked or removed posts from two abortion pill providers. Instagram also suspended the accounts of several abortion pill providers and hid the providers from appearing in search and recommendations.

The actions ramped up in the last two weeks, and were especially noticeable in the last two days, abortion pill providers said. Content from their accounts — or in some cases, their entire accounts — were no longer visible on Instagram.

Perhaps we simply shouldn’t create DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations, a combination of decentralized finance instruments and smart contracts running on blockchains). Perhaps the legal fiction of corporate personhood is absurd enough without giving the corporations the ability to run themselves. I think it’s very telling that there’s only like two web sites I know of that still actually have humans moderating them and checking mass reports. One is furaffinity and the other one was mentioned in a group VC that I forgot the name of. There’s so little human site moderation these days that as long as you have bots and bot hosting technology, by all intents and purposes you are the site moderation. Which I think we can all agree is pretty fucked up!
