Why does the weather keep changing?!
Weather scientist reader x Scientist phainon whos artificially changing the weather :0 what could possibly go wrong PHAINON FANART AT THE END OF THE POST!!

The moment you saw the weather reports go haywire, you knew something was wrong.
For years, you had dedicated your life to understanding the unpredictable nature of the skies—studying storm patterns, atmospheric shifts, and climate changes. Weather was a delicate balance of science and nature, governed by centuries-old principles that even the most advanced meteorologists struggled to predict with absolute certainty. And yet, something—someone—was tipping the scales.
It started subtly. A mild anomaly here, an unexpected shift there. A sudden drop in pressure that meteorological models hadn't accounted for. At first, you chalked it up to a rare, yet natural deviation. Uncommon, but not impossible. But as days passed, the anomalies became more frequent. More erratic. More impossible.
One evening, you sat in your lab, staring at satellite images that simply did not make sense.
According to every forecast model, the eastern seaboard was supposed to experience heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours. But outside your window? Nothing. Clear skies. No clouds forming where they should have been. Not even a hint of humidity in the air. It was as if the storm had just... vanished.
You double-checked the data. Triple-checked. Ran simulations, compared historical trends, even consulted with your colleagues in other departments. Nothing added up. The storm should have happened.
The next day, the opposite occurred. A severe thunderstorm erupted out of nowhere, completely unpredicted by any meteorological model. Lightning struck in regions that had no atmospheric conditions to support it. You stared at your screen, watching real-time data pour in, and felt your stomach sink.
“This isn’t natural,” you muttered, fingers tightening around your stylus as you scrolled through satellite readings. “This isn’t possible.”
You reached out to national weather agencies, but they were just as baffled as you were. Some blamed equipment malfunctions. Others suggested it was a rare atmospheric anomaly. But you knew better. This wasn’t an error.
Someone was artificially changing the weather.
And you were going to find out who.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Your investigation led you to an independent research facility under the name "Elysiae Dynamics." A company that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere, its research papers riddled with vague references to “atmospheric influence” and “climate engineering.” No one in the meteorological community had ever heard of them until recently, and yet, they had just filed a patent for atmospheric manipulation technology.
That’s when you met him.
A tall, cheery young man, 6’2 with messy white hair and cerulean blue eyes, wearing a lab coat over a wrinkled button-up shirt and sneakers that looked far too casual for someone playing god with the atmosphere.
“Ah! You must be the weather scientist!” His voice was bright, chipper, like he wasn’t single-handedly disrupting global climate stability. “I was wondering when you’d show up.”
You narrowed your eyes. “And you are?”
“Phainon! Head of experimental meteorological engineering here at Elysiae Dynamics.” He beamed, extending a hand. “I’m the guy who made it rain during your picnic last weekend. Sorry about that! Just had to test a hypothesis.”
You didn’t shake his hand. “You—you what?”
“Oh, don’t look so mad! You should be impressed! I successfully altered the weather without any negative ecological consequences!” Phainon leaned against his desk, arms crossed, still grinning like a fool. “Come on, you of all people should appreciate this. Isn't controlling the weather the dream of every meteorologist?”
“It’s not a dream, it’s an ethical nightmare!” You snapped. “Do you have any idea how dangerous this is? The slightest miscalculation could throw entire ecosystems off balance! Not to mention the political implications—”
Phainon tilted his head. “But I didn’t miscalculate.”
His confidence was infuriating. His logic, irritatingly sound. And worst of all? You couldn’t deny that what he had accomplished was groundbreaking.
“…This is reckless,” you muttered, rubbing your temples. “And insanely impressive. But mostly reckless.”
Phainon’s grin widened. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
You groaned. “I need access to your research.”
“Oh-ho, so now you’re interested?”
“I was always interested. But now I need to make sure you’re not about to cause the next ice age.”
Phainon chuckled, stepping closer—too close. His presence was overwhelming in the way only someone deeply, unapologetically passionate about their work could be. “Tell you what, partner,” he said, voice teasing, “help me refine it, make it safer. You’re the expert on natural weather—I’m just the guy making it unnatural. Work with me, and we can create something truly extraordinary.”
You wanted to refuse. You really, really did.
But damn it, he had a point.
“…Fine.”
His eyes lit up, like a storm forming in the depths of a clear sky. “Excellent! Now, let’s get to work—I was thinking about making it snow in July next. Just for fun!”
You groaned. This was going to be a long partnership. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ And long it was. Over the next few weeks, you found yourself sucked into the chaotic whirlwind that was Phainon’s scientific madness. He worked at an impossible pace, throwing around ideas that shouldn’t have been possible but somehow were. One minute, he’d be theorizing about localized heatwaves, and the next, he’d be actively making them happen.
“You can’t just create a thunderstorm over the city because you think it would look cool,” you hissed one afternoon, watching in horror as Phainon gleefully adjusted dials on his control panel.
“Oh, but I can,” he countered, eyes gleaming. “It’s all about the precision. Watch—three, two, one…”
A bolt of lightning cracked across the sky, illuminating the city below.
“…Boom.”
You stared at him. “You are so going to get arrested.”
“Nah, only if they catch me.”
You groaned, shoving your hands into your lab coat pockets. “Unbelievable. You’re like a child with a god complex.”
Phainon grinned. “And yet, you’re still here.”
Damn it. He had a point. Again.
The worst part? You were starting to enjoy it.

Lately, though, you had been feeling exhausted.
The late nights, the stress, the mental load of balancing scientific integrity with Phainon’s chaos—it was all catching up to you. Your movements were slower, your focus slipping. Even Phainon, for all his oblivious enthusiasm, noticed.
That afternoon, when the sun was unbearably hot and the air in the lab felt thick and suffocating, you slumped over your desk, barely listening as Phainon rambled about his next experiment.
And then, suddenly—
A breeze.
Cool, crisp, and carrying the scent of oncoming rain. You blinked in confusion, looking up just in time to see Phainon, standing by the open window, a knowing smile on his face.
“You looked like you needed a break,” he said simply, leaning against the sill. “So I changed the weather. Just a little.”
Your eyes widened. The screens behind you, once displaying the sweltering forecast, now showed cloud cover rolling in. The suffocating heat? Gone.
“…You did this?” Your voice was barely above a whisper.
Phainon grinned. “Of course. Can’t have my partner melting away on me, can I?”
Your heart skipped a beat.
Damn him.
“C’mon,” he suddenly said, pushing off the window ledge. “Let’s go outside for a bit. We’ve been in this lab for too long, and I changed the weather for you. C’mon.”
Before you could protest, Phainon grabbed your hand and dragged you toward the exit, leaving behind a room full of stunned scientists, their jaws practically on the floor as they watched him whisk you away like a force of nature itself. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The moment you stepped outside, a crisp breeze greeted you, carrying the scent of damp earth and something electrifying—the prelude to a storm. You glanced up at the sky, expecting the soft cloud cover Phainon had crafted just for you, but instead—
A downpour.
Cold, heavy raindrops pelted down from the heavens, drenching the both of you in an instant. It wasn’t just a light drizzle or a gentle summer rain—it was an absolute deluge.
You gasped, half in shock, half in disbelief.
Phainon, still holding your hand, blinked up at the sky in stunned silence.
Then you burst out laughing. Loud, uncontrollable laughter.
“Oh my god—did you leave the machine on auto mode?!” you choked out between fits of laughter. “Phainon, the weather just changed again! WHAT DID YOU DO?”
He stared at you for a second, then back at the rain, and then at you again.
“…I might have forgotten to turn off the randomization function,” he admitted sheepishly.
Your laughter only grew. “Are you kidding me?! We barely made it outside, and now we’re stuck in an artificial monsoon!”
Phainon, despite his momentary fluster, grinned widely. “Well, on the bright side—at least it’s refreshing!” And with that, he spread his arms out dramatically, embracing the torrential downpour like some mad scientist turned weather god.
You shook your head, still breathless with laughter. Your clothes were already soaked through, hair sticking to your forehead, rain streaming down your face—but in that moment, you didn’t care.
Phainon turned to you, eyes gleaming mischievously through the rain. “So, do you wanna run back inside? Or…” He took a step back, still holding onto your wrist, a teasing glint in his eyes.
Oh, you knew that look.
He was about to do something reckless.
“…Phainon,” you warned.
“Catch me if you can!”
And just like that, he took off—sprinting through the rain like a madman.
You groaned. Of course.
But your feet moved before you could even think about it, chasing after him through the drenched pavement, laughter bubbling in your chest. The other scientists, who had peeked outside to witness this chaos, simply stood there, utterly baffled as their two most brilliant colleagues—one being the cause of this entire mess—bolted through the facility grounds, completely soaked.
“Phainon, get back here!” you yelled, half-laughing, half-exasperated.
“You’ll have to catch me first!” he called back, voice bright, wild, and full of life. "YOU STUPID LITTLE-"

AYESHA RASCOE, HOST:
With Spain and Portugal saying that hundreds of people have died from the heat waves sweeping through Europe this month, the longer-term view might come as a surprise. Over the past 50 years, the number of deaths attributed to weather-related disasters has actually fallen. Yes, you heard that right. The World Meteorological Organization says that the number of disasters has increased five times over the past 50 years, but the number of fatalities has fallen by two-thirds. Vox climate writer Umair Irfan has delved into this paradox and joins us now. Welcome to the program, Umair.
UMAIR IRFAN: Thanks for having me, Ayesha.
RASCOE: So how can this be? Like, how can the number of deaths be falling even though we hear the news, we see the disasters? You know, seas are rising, summers are hotter, hurricanes seem to be getting stronger. So how is it possible that deaths can be down?
IRFAN: Well, there are two main factors here. One is better forecasting - basically being able to get ahead of these disasters and then hopefully being able to get people out of harm's way. So that's really prominent with things like hurricanes and heat waves. We can actually see those things days in advance. The other side of the equation is how well we can cope with things like storms, fires and heat waves when they do occur. So we have better tools - things like sea walls. We have better building codes. We have firefighting teams that can get people out of fire zones. And so between those two aspects - you know, the better forecasting and the better tools - we've been able to avert a lot of deaths, even though the global population has grown about fourfold since the start of the 20th century.
RASCOE: Are the technological advances that you're talking about available even in less-developed areas?
IRFAN: It's not, unfortunately. And you're hitting on a very important point. You know, the WMO pointed out that about 90% of disaster-related fatalities that occur today are occurring in developing countries. And there's a huge gap in terms of being able to anticipate these disasters before they occur and being able to respond to them and being able to rebuild in their aftermath. And that really is a big shortfall that a lot of world leaders are starting to get concerned about...
You know, the World Meteorological Organization, they launched this initiative to basically say that they want the whole world covered by disaster early warning systems over the next five years. And they think that this is something that's going to be taking a big bite out of the fatalities and the casualties caused by these disasters. So I think it's worth highlighting the progress that's made, but also the progress that we still need to make.

Math Myths Busted! 🚨 Debunking Common Misconceptions
1. "Trigonometry is pointless in real life."
Want to design a bridge, map the stars, or even create 3D models? Welcome to the world of trigonometry. Engineers use sine and cosine to calculate forces, angles, and stress on structures. Naval navigation? That’s spherical trigonometry. And let’s not forget medical imaging (MRI and CT scans)—trigonometric algorithms are essential for reconstructing images from cross-sectional slices of the body.
2. "Pi is just 3.14."
Pi is irrational, meaning it goes on forever without repeating. It’s used in everything from signal processing to quantum physics. In general relativity, gravitational waves are calculated using Pi to map the curvature of spacetime. Even fractals, the infinitely complex geometric shapes that mirror nature’s patterns, rely on Pi for accurate dimension calculations. Simplifying Pi to 3.14 is like calling a complex painting “just a bunch of colors.” It’s a universe in itself.
3. "Math is for nerds, not for normal people."
Mathematics is fundamental to the universe. The Fibonacci sequence is embedded in everything from flower petals to galaxies. Whether it’s understanding the Golden Ratio in art or applying optimization techniques to improve energy use in smart cities, math is the tool that drives technology, medicine, and economics. Cryptography keeps your bank account safe and ensures secure communication online—it’s all built on abstract algebra and number theory. So, is math for “nerds”? It’s for civilization.
4. "I’ll never be good at math."
Growth mindset matters. The very concept of calculus—which studies the rate of change—starts from understanding infinitesimally small changes. Once you grasp limits, derivatives, and integration, you unlock the power to model everything from population growth to financial markets. Complex equations that once seemed impenetrable are just tools for breaking down the world. Perseverance is the key, not an innate ability. You learn, you grow, you become a mathematical thinker.
5. "Math is boring."
If math’s boring, then understanding gravity and black holes is boring. Einstein’s general theory of relativity wasn’t just an academic concept—it was formulated using highly sophisticated tensor calculus. Fractals, which appear in clouds, mountains, and even coastlines, are beautiful examples of math in nature. When you solve differential equations, you’re predicting everything from weather patterns to market crashes. Math is not static, it’s the language of everything, from the universe’s creation to your daily commute.
6. "I don’t need math in my everyday life."
You calculate interest rates, optimize your workout routine, and even estimate cooking times using math without realizing it. Statistics helps you make informed decisions in the stock market, and probability theory is the reason you can accurately predict outcomes in games, risk-taking, and even weather forecasting. Linear algebra is involved in everything from computational biology to machine learning. And when was the last time you built a website without using algorithms? Exactly.
7. "Calculators do all the work, so why learn math?"
Calculators are tools. Algorithms—the underlying mathematical processes that make your calculator or smartphone function—are the result of years of mathematical study. Machine learning algorithms, the backbone of AI, rely heavily on linear algebra and calculus. Building a calculator that can compute anything from simple arithmetic to complex number operations requires advanced math, often involving abstract algebra and number theory. It’s not the tool; it’s the thinking behind it that counts.
Math is the DNA of the universe.

Just like a kid finds entertainment in teasing adults—or just anyone—simply for the sake of it, the weather, in fact, Mother Nature herself, likes to remind humans about their incompetence and inferiority when it comes to her, especially now that they're aiming to build the next Babylonian tower only in the form of technological advancements and nature domination.
The people from the Romantic age understood, praised and respected her. They had Mother Nature always nodding her head in pride back then. She probably misses that time of her very long life because right now she's stressed out the whole time. After all, mankind is trying to dominate her.
Don't know the reason. Probably could be the concept of an independent and strong woman that bugs mankind or could simply be the human greed for power hence why Mother Nature has taken it as a responsibility to remind them of their place.
"Today will be sunny" the weather forecast says. Sometimes Mother Nature is tired or lazy and lets humans win the round but when they've messed around enough, filling up her energy tank, she decides to say 'sike' and frustrate them.
That evening, Mother Nature finally allowed rainy clouds to come up on the stage. Take it easy on her, she's not trying to be rude but… they only cry when performing which doesn't meet her taste. Today, though, she was in a sour mood and needful of sad things, so she called them on stage regardless.
Past dinner time, by the time Taehyung was home, it was raining. He came down from Jungkook's car, closed the door behind himself and rushed to get his luggage in the trunk.
Quickly and messily, he greeted his friends before running inside.
There was a path that led to his front door. The rain had made it a bit slippery obliging him to pay attention as he walked. Suitcase in his hand, he climbed the few steps and reached his porch. Only then did he turn around to see his friends already driving off.
"Welcome back home," voices sang from behind the door just sprung open by his grandmother by whose right was his mother, and between whose legs his dog rushed up to him. Hugging the fur ball, he greeted them both whilst the mom hurried to help him with his suitcase despite his complaints.
Most of the lights on the floor were switched off except for the hall and kitchen. There was a brunette hardwood flooring beneath his feet, parchment walls around him and a white ceiling above him.
"You want to take care of this today or you're leaving it for another time?" the mother asked, wanting to take the suitcase upstairs but his tired look was self-explanatory obliging her to leave it aside in the anteroom. As he tried to conceal his pet's excitement, he thanked her while his grandma asked if he wanted to eat.
Pet in his arms, mom on the left and grandma on the right, Taehyung took off his shoes and made himself back at home. He tried to convince his grandma that he wasn't hungry but she had other plans and was way more stubborn than he ever could be so he still ate before having the chance to run upstairs and jump into his bed.
They were curious about his journey like it was something extravagant but it wasn't the first time: Jungkook owned a beach house and since sophomore year, Taehyung would spend the summer holidays there with his friends and yet every time he returned from it, his mom and grandma would ask questions like there was always something new to add but don't be worried, there wasn't much he could say but he always found something to tell them, happy to see them happy.
—Now playing: Pretty Boy by The Neighbourhood✫
Once he had finished and a few conversations later, he went up the stairs to his bedroom overwhelmed by a gloominess slightly obstructed by the natural light of a late summer night with a sky covered in dark, angry clouds. The window was ajar making the white curtains meet and dance with the unfriendly fresh breeze.
Before closing the door, he beelined for the lamp on his bedside table and turned it on. Finally, he threw himself on the bed, sighing tiredly as he stared at the ceiling for enough time for his body to feel the cold breeze and want to close the window.
He got up groaning as if he'd just lost thirty years of his life by doing such movement and closed both the door and the window then took off his shirt and walked up to his wardrobe for a pair of shorts he could sleep in.
Since he has standards that he'd set for himself, he couldn't go to bed without a shower for which he exhaustedly groaned. He almost fell asleep under the comfortable water temperature he'd set. Had a little mental banter between his little angel and the little devil about whether he should say 'fuck it' and sleep right then and there or not. You may guess which one was the little devil's and the little angel's.
Again, going against the need for his muscles, bones, joints and articulations, he got out of the shower and went to bed, messily drying himself up and not giving a damn about his wet hair. "It's summer. It's hot anyways" was his mental reasoning as he dabbed the towel carelessly on his head before dressing up and launching onto his bed.
Within seconds, the tiredness overwhelmed and made him fall asleep as he laid flat on his tummy, arms and legs open the same way they were when he threw himself on the bed.
Obviously, he wasn't aware of who walked into his bedroom, rubbed his head, pushed his leg fully onto the bed and left after turning the lamp off. During the night, he turned left and right, sometimes searching for a fresh breeze and others for warmth.
He woke up late in the morning, lying flat on his stomach with his head resting on the pillow on his arms. He would've woken up later but his window blows light directly on his face whenever he's facing it and unfortunately, he was doing just that. He groaned, turned his head in the other direction but his slumber had been interrupted so he couldn't go back to sleep. Gave himself a moment to understand his surroundings before he turned on his back, sighing exhaustedly. Didn't move for another moment as he stared at the ceiling and then he finally came to reality and stretched to his bedside table for his phone.
He had a lot of notifications, the majority of them were unimportant; paid mind only to the messages from his friend group chat. Jungkook had sent a picture of Adrielle fallen asleep in his backseat. Her house is after Taehyung's, around half a kilometre away so she was still in the car when Taehyung got home last night. Unfortunately for her, she fell asleep and her looks were funny enough for Jungkook to want to take a picture and share it in the group chat.
Her neck was uncomfortably bent making her chin meet her collarbone and her cheeks to looked slightly puffy. Taehyung laughed at it and immediately saved the picture in his gallery before Jungkook complied with Adrielle's insisting requests.
Turning off his phone, he let his arm loosely fall on his bed as he looked out the window realising that he'd have to get up at some point and go on with his life despite the tiredness lacing every joint of his.
—Now playing: Heart To Heart by Mac DeMarco✫
Here too, above his head, was a white ceiling but the walls were of a light shade of greyish brown. The room was rectangular-shaped. The door was at the beginning of the longer wall while the bed was against the opposite wall and the left shorter wall. Natural light came from the right where the window was partially occupying the short wall. Beneath it was his desk and on its left was a nook, a little hallway that led to the bathroom at its end. Full-length windows replaced the left wall of this little hallway while the right wall presented another nook hosting his wardrobe.
Other than these, the room contained almost every detail that could hint at its owner: a teenage boy of age. The walls were decorated by music posters, from 80s artists to modern R&B artists. He had a fair share of flower pots scattered around the place, from his bedside table to his desk and bookshelves. Coming out from beneath his bed was a dark grey carpet. Against the wall facing his bed was a mobile clothes hanger, on its bottom were boxes of shoes.
His books were kept in the bookshelf occupying the free space left by the window next to which was a little armchair.
He got up from his bed beelining for the window he suddenly wanted to open because an unknown wave of heat had overwhelmed him and the room. Once done, he stopped by his bookshelf as a book he still hadn't read caught his eye. With that in his hand, he slowly walked to the clothes hanger to get his school bag.
Again, he threw himself on the bed exhausted when he registered why he was doing what he was doing. School. He'd have to return to school on Monday, there was no escaping it. School always stressed the hell out of him because he liked having good grades which implied studying till late and postponing fun hang-outs. Regardless, his goodwill to prepare the bag vanished and he went to his bathroom to brush his teeth with his phone in his hands since it was vibrating nonstop.
As predicted, it was from his group chat. Avyanna and Jungkook were having fun trying to convince Adrielle that the picture was marvellous and that she'd be gatekeeping such majestic beauty if Jungkook had to delete it. Taehyung calmly placed the phone by his side with the screen on to keep up with the banters. It was fun seeing Adrielle get a bit angry. Not angry as in furious but playfully angry. Taehyung could bet, in fact, anyone from the group could bet that she was rolling her eyes at her screen while texting them right now.
Right after Jungkook had had enough fun and complied to delete it, Jimin sent a sticker, a freshly made one, made with Adrielle's picture. The chat soon was filled with laugh emojis or two-lined 'hahaha' texts. Taehyung laughed too. Laughed a lot in fact with his toothbrush in his mouth as he tried to keep his eyes open so he could save the sticker as well.
He quickly finished, rinsing his mouth, still laughing because Adrielle was now threatening both Jungkook and Jimin. All in good fun.
"Tae, breakfast's ready. Has been ready for a bit now," his grandma said, poking her head into his room. He was still smiling, traces of the good laugh he'd just had. Nodding, he quickly joined her and went downstairs.
—Now playing: Calma e Sangue Freddo by Luca Dirisio✫
"What has you smiling so much? Last night it looked like your eyes were about to drop to the floor," his mother inquired as she finished washing a few plates. Laughing at the memory, Taehyung explained what happened, showing them Adrielle's picture. They joined in the laughs.
Adrielle, Avyanna, Jungkook and Jimin were like his siblings, his mother's extra children and his grandma's extra grandchildren, especially Adrielle.
His mother was a lepidopterist, loved butterflies ever since she was a child and finally took a degree in lepidoptery in her late thirties after graduating nursing school, happily giving into her hobby. While she grew butterflies, on the other hand, his grandmother was a florist and spent her time growing flowers of all kinds. She also had a farm from which she earned the goods she sold at the market.
Taehyung was different from both, not entirely but a lot. He was very educated and diligent for particular reasons: he wanted his family to be financially stable. Doesn't want to see his mother's smile trying to cover all the tiredness within her. Doesn't want to see his grandma going to the market to sell fruits and veggies and come back so tired she can't do anything else and pretend she can. Doesn't want to see his grandma bending over to cultivate. They keep trying to lock him out of their world and by 'their' he means the world that he's living in too of which he doesn't know the real depth because they keep hiding it from him. He always felt in the position to help despite their opposition but now that he was of age he never felt more in duty.
This was his last high school year, he'd graduate. This was also the year he'd have to take the entrance exam to be accepted in his dream school in the city. They don't have the money to sponsor him through the years but he thinks of himself as hardworking and able to withstand any kind of labour. This his family doesn't know yet.
After downing the last drop of tea, he explained his plan for the day, a quick one he messily created in his head while eating. Done with that, he washed off the plates he used and went upstairs to get changed.

The weather didn't change much from the previous night. Presented the traces. Hinted at a continuation reason why he decided not to go light, wearing long pants and taking a sweater with him.
His destination was Opes Nostras for a stationery haul that he really didn't need but Adrielle did and begged him to go with her. After shopping, they'd go to Jimin's and have lunch together.
Outside, dressed in a milk-coloured outfit composed of a skirt and a top covered by a light grey wool sweater with her feet in a pair of boots, was Adrielle, a few steps away from his front door. The stone path was still a bit wet from the rain so she paid attention to her moves before she found herself on his porch, ringing the bell.
Grandma opened the door for her shortly after, warmly welcoming her inside.
"Give me a few seconds to snatch some snacks and I'll be with you," Taehyung spoke, running to the kitchen and halting his movements by sliding on his socks. Adrielle laughed, patiently waiting at the door so she didn't have to bother taking off her boots. Soon, Taehyung slid back to her and put his shoes on before greeting his family and leaving with her.
"Well, you look better than I expected," he began as they walked out of his porch and on the road. "What do you mean?" her brows slightly furrowed. "Look better than the stressed-out Adrielle I was expecting," his words immediately struck a memory as she rolled her eyes. "I'm saving up the energy I'll use to burst their asses open," she threatened but he laughed, knowing that even if she had the power, she'd never have the guts to. Only Avyanna is good at taking revenge on Jungkook and Jimin, which is the reason they pick on Adrielle the most and less on her.
The sky was grey, covered by clouds. In the distance, they could see fog. The tarmac beneath their feet was darker due to the rain. The air penetrating through the little holes of their wool sweaters was chilly. As they walked past the neighbouring houses to the bus stop, some dogs rushed up to the gates barking. Neighbours waved at them, they waved back.
Down the hill they were trekking was the bus stop where a couple of people stood.
"Damn, school's really on," he spoke, the reality hitting him again and he always reacted like he didn't know till then. Adrielle nodded and they started talking about the upcoming nine months-ish period of stress they'd face from Monday onwards.
—Now playing: Bubble Gum by NewJeans✫
Since it was Saturday, Opes Nostras was very crowded and confusing. Sellers were screaming to publish their goods and sell them. Buyers walked by, some hurriedly, others beelined for a specific stall, others slowed down to inspect and would occasionally proceed if their interest wasn't caught enough for them to stop.
Taehyung and Adrielle were a mix of all. They couldn't exactly beeline though because they didn't know the exact positions of the stalls that sell what they came for.
Adrielle was the one putting in the effort to find the stall that sells school supplies. Taehyung was busy trying not to lose his patience when someone passed by him pushing him a bit too much or when someone stepped on his shoes. Adrielle would try to calm him down but he was fighting the urge to insult somebody by biting on his fist.
"Oh, sweet Lord, give me the patience to go on," he prayed as two kids ran past him almost tearing his bag from his hands and pushing him left and right. Adrielle laughed asking if he really would've hit the kids. He denied it but reminded her that his patience was running low, very low.
They were just in the middle of the long street while heading towards the exit were Daphne and Cleo, almost done with grocery shopping. Despite how much Daphne thought it would've been a waste of time, she enjoyed it and had fun mainly because of Cleo's presence.
Soon, all the boxes in the shopping lists were filled and they could finally head back home and, like the last time, they went back to Opes Nostras bus stop to get their self-assigned bus seats.
Taehyung and Adrielle were done around thirty minutes later before they decided to trek back to Jimin's place—his house, not the restaurant.
Unlike the majority of them, Jimin lived in town, not so far away from school. His house was a few steps from his restaurant, at the end of the aforementioned silent street.
Obviously, to no one's surprise, the size of the house matched the size of the plot: big.
—Now playing: One For The Road by Arctic Monkeys✫
As they walked into the street, they sent Jimin a text to alert him of their arrival hence why, by the time they were in front of the gate, it sprung open automatically, meaning that Jimin was waiting for them.
"Adrielle!" he sang, enhancing the 'R' with a failed French accent. The respondent rolled her eyes as she went in for a hug and, while at it, pinched him in the side, "Ouch!" he feignly cried, caressing the spot and failing to hold back his laugh.
"Oh, fuck you! What's funny?" she whined, a smile on her face. Taehyung laughed too as he hugged his friend and they all went inside. The gates clung closed behind them, their walk slightly obstructed by Jimin's three dogs barking and running left and right.
The gates were placed at the beginning of the plot to close up the fencing but the house was put away into the plot. An asphalt path led to the front door outlined on both sides by a green space of grass, trees and hedges. The house was a three-story building composed of grey walls mainly smooth with brick-textured corners, dark roofing, white windows and doors sided by black shutters. The front door was placed on the left wall, not the one facing the gates. In front of the house, on the left and the right, were parked cars of all kinds with one similar to the one that honked at Taehyung's door on Monday morning.
"Hey, pretty boy. Hurry up. Get your ass moving!" Jungkook yelled from the car while Adrielle giggled in the back. Soon the respondent came into their sight as he greeted his family, trying to keep the dog inside and properly hold his bag. He was visibly in a hurry to meet them but Jungkook still found it funny to honk the car longer this time, startling both his friends and gaining a glare from Taehyung who'd just succeeded in closing his door.
"You're the one who should get his ass moving, maybe the stick you have up it will fall out," he replied getting in the passenger seat. Jungkook laughed as they shook hands, "There we go. You still haven't stepped foot back to school and you're already all moody and grumpy," he laughed as he drove past the house and to school. All this after greeting Taehyung's mother who was waving from her window.
"You seem too okay and happy for today to be the first day back to school," Taehyung calmly spoke, keeping his bag between his feet and turning his phone on. Adrielle immediately exclaimed agreeing with Taehyung as she had said the same thing before they got there.
Avyanna would say the same thing less than thirty minutes later when she got in and Jimin would too, twice, once they parked in front of the school and started trekking up the hill.
Since it wasn't the official first day of school, by the time they arrived, there wasn't any huge stable crowd but moving packs of students getting inside at their own pace.
As they went in, Adrielle greeted the staff. Her friends did the same, feeling obliged and they all went up the stairs to the top floor where their class was.
Since they'd never rush to class under any circumstances, they calmly climbed the stairs, calmly walked through the hallway and calmly walked into their classroom and their desks.
Despite not being present on the first day of school to run for their desks, when they walked in their usual desks were left untouched by their classmates since they've always occupied the same ones since freshman year.
—Now playing: This Side Of Paradise by Coyote Theory✫
Seconds after their entrance, the teacher arrived leaving no time for their classmates to greet them and welcome them back, for the boys to high-five each other, for the girls to wave their greetings, for the boys to check out Adrielle and Avyanna as if they didn't stalk their Instagram profiles as a hobby during the summer holidays, for the girls to look at the boys wondering how was it possible they looked better and better every time they stepped foot into class. As Avyanna sat down next to Jungkook a few eyes looked her way, some in jealousy and envy and others in admiration, wishing they could be in her position. In front of them, Adrielle and Taehyung were settling down next to each other gaining, for the umpteenth time in their life and for the first time that school year glances. Both the duos, Jungkook and Avyanna, and Taehyung and Adrielle, had been rumoured to be real couples so whatever they'd do was double-checked by the curious eyes of admiring students, envious ones and gossiping ones.
Last but not least was Jimin calmly settling down behind Jungkook and Avyanna in the last row. He didn't have a deskmate but that was what he wished for because he cherished his personal space a lot.
Thanks to the little commotion, the teacher noticed them and warmly welcomed them back, inquiring if they remembered to catch up with what had been done in the past week. Adrielle immediately spoke for all, inviting the teacher not to worry since they'd taken care of it—precisely just her but the teacher didn't need to know that.
Done with the roll call, the teacher immediately got to work. The subject was history. A pretty heavy one to carry right in the morning, so Taehyung's fingers could barely move and write down words in his notebook but he did his best to keep up, looking at Adrielle's notes from time to time to fill in gaps. Ten minutes before the end of class, the teacher went a bit off-topic as they explained and that was when he completely lost focus and never got it back till the bell rang and his maths teacher walked in.
"Gosh, my legs still hurt from yesterday," Avyanna whined behind them, calling his attention. He quickly turned around to find her head facing the floor, resting on her arms as Jungkook doodled on them.
"You like the butterfly I drew?" he questioned, abruptly taking Avyanna's arm to show Taehyung his doing. The harshness of his action causes Avyanna to call him out, "Hey, bro. My arm is supposed to be attached to my shoulder so take it easy."

stoncy twisters au 🌪️
When Nancy Wheeler’s best friend Barb dies while they’re chasing a tornado, Nancy leaves Oklahoma for New York, putting her past behind her. Becoming a weather forecaster, she befriends Jonathan Byers, a colleague whose brother died in a tornado years earlier. When Jonathan discovers advanced technology that will help them better photograph tornadoes — and hopefully save lives — he convinces Nancy to join him in his research and return to Oklahoma. There, she crosses paths with Steve Harrington, an old flame and the only other survivor of Barb’s accident…who she hasn’t spoken to in five years. Now a hotshot tornado wrangler with nearly a million subscribers on YouTube who Jonathan has an inexplicable disdain for, Nancy keeps her distance from Steve, still unable to face her past and acknowledge how much he’s changed. As she and Jonathan continue to work together, the two of them grow closer and the stakes grow higher — until a run-in with a twister turns nearly fatal for them both. Realizing they might be in over their heads, they reluctantly turn to Steve for help — who maybe hasn’t changed quite as much as Nancy thought. Turns out taming a tornado is a difficult job for two people. Maybe the three of them together can make it work.

New mission to create total solar eclipses in space
A UK team of researchers including UCL's Professor Lucie Green are working on the launch of a spacecraft mission that will allow us to view the sun's atmosphere in more detail than ever before.
The proposed MESOM mission will enable researchers to study the conditions that create solar storms, leading to improvements in forecasts of space weather on Earth.
The MESOM spacecraft will fly on a peculiar trajectory enabled by the gravitational attraction of the Earth, the sun and the moon, and will use the shadow of the moon to re-create a total solar eclipse in space once every lunar month lasting almost 50 minutes.
Total solar eclipses seen from Earth are much shorter and only last between 10 seconds and 7.5 minutes, with the annular solar eclipse in the Southern Hemisphere this Wednesday 2 October expected to last around seven minutes.
Creating a longer eclipse in space will enable the MESOM team to take high-quality images and measurements of the sun's corona, filling gaps in existing understanding of the physical processes taking place in the solar atmosphere that lead to space weather.
Space weather is not a danger to people or animals on Earth, but solar flares and eruptions from the sun known as coronal mass ejections can cause severe disruption to power grids, satellites and other communication technologies on which modern society depends.
Professor Lucie Green (Mullard Space Science Laboratory at UCL), who is a member of the core UK team leading the mission alongside Aberystwyth University and the Space Center at the University of Surrey, said, "MESOM will offer scientists a unique opportunity to study and understand how the sun creates and controls weather in space.
"But MESOM also offers the general public an opportunity to engage with the beauty and spectacle of a total solar eclipse as all our images will be readily available. We aim to reveal the secrets of the sun while inspiring a new generation of space scientists and engineers."
Professor Huw Morgan, of Aberystwyth University, said, "As we become globally more dependent on wireless technologies, there is a growing risk of major disruption to everyday life on Earth as a result of space weather.
"MESOM is an incredibly exciting mission which will advance our scientific understanding of the solar atmosphere and space weather to new levels, enabling us to provide more accurate forecasts and take mitigating action.
"In Aberystwyth, as members of the core UK team, we are closely involved in a study mapping out the feasibility of the mission which is due to be launched in the early 2030s. We are also working with international experts in solar physics, solar atmospherics and leading experience in solar-observing space missions."
Dr. Nicola Baresi from the Surrey Space Center said, "Both solar flares and coronal mass ejections originate from the innermost layers of the sun's atmosphere, which remains elusive to current space-based instrumentation and can only be viewed in greater detail during total eclipses.
"By creating eclipses that last up to 48 minutes in space, rather than the maximum 7.5 minutes we manage to see on Earth, we stand a much better chance of unlocking their secrets."

I see I had a typo I missed, a memory from 2008 how basic and different the technology was.. The avatars today look so different, yet back then, the one you see above was thought to me so advanced compared to earlier ones. Life is just a parade of changes. The weather forecast is for gray, cloudy and cool days even into the week-end. Let’s hope that changes.. Today’s PL message… Value those…

As of 2025, approximately 10,000 active satellites orbit Earth, marking an unprecedented surge in satellite deployments driven by the exponential growth of space-based technology, satellite communications, and global internet infrastructure. A significant share of these satellites belong to SpaceX’s Starlink constellation, designed to deliver high-speed, low-latency satellite internet worldwide, bridging the digital divide and revolutionizing telecommunications, remote connectivity, and broadband access. However, this rapid expansion has intensified concerns over space debris, orbital congestion, and satellite collision risks, posing a serious challenge to space sustainability, aerospace security, and the longevity of commercial space exploration. With more satellites crowding low Earth orbit (LEO), the probability of catastrophic collisions and fragmentation increases, creating thousands of high-velocity debris particles that threaten critical infrastructure, global positioning systems (GPS), Earth observation satellites, space stations, and future manned space missions. Even millimeter-sized debris traveling at hypersonic speeds can severely damage operational satellites, leading to multi-million-dollar losses and disrupting essential services such as weather forecasting, defense communications, financial transactions, and disaster management. To mitigate these risks, space agencies, defense organizations, and private aerospace companies are investing in advanced debris removal technologies, artificial intelligence-driven space traffic management, and next-generation satellite designs with automated de-orbiting mechanisms. While proactive initiatives such as laser-based debris clearing, autonomous robotic collectors, and AI-powered collision avoidance systems are in development, the rapid escalation of satellite launches underscores the urgent need for international regulatory frameworks, sustainable space policies, and coordinated space governance to ensure the long-term viability of orbital ecosystems and the future of commercial space exploration. The new space age demands cutting-edge solutions that balance technological innovation, economic growth, and environmental responsibility, making space traffic management and orbital sustainability one of the most pressing challenges for the global aerospace industry and emerging space economy.

Artificial intelligence could advance in ways that surpass our wildest imaginations, and it could radically change our everyday lives much sooner than you think. This video will explore the 10 stages of AI from lowest to highest.
Stage 1. Rule-Based AI: Rule-based AI, sometimes referred to as a knowledge-based system, operates not on intuition or learning, but on a predefined set of rules.
These systems are designed to make decisions based on these rules without the ability to adapt, change, or learn from new or unexpected situations. One can find rule-based systems in many everyday technologies that we often take for granted. Devices like alarm clocks and thermostats operate based on a set of rules.
For example, if it's 7am, an alarm clock might emit a sound. If the room temperature rises above 75 degrees Fahrenheit, a thermostat will turn on the air conditioner. And business software utilizes rule-based AI to automate mundane tasks and generate reports. Microwaves and car radios also use rule-based AIs.
Stage 2. Context-Based AI: Context based AI systems don't just process immediate inputs. They also account for the surrounding environment, user behavior, historical data, and real-time cues to make informed decisions.
Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa are examples of context-based AIs. By analyzing vast amounts of data from various sources and recognizing patterns, they can predict user needs based on context. So if you ask about the weather and it's likely to rain later, they might suggest carrying an umbrella.
If you ask about a recipe for pancakes, the AI assistant might suggest a nearby store to buy ingredients while taking past purchases into account. Another fascinating manifestation of context-aware AI is retention systems. These types of systems store and retrieve information from past interactions.
By recalling your browsing history, purchase history, and even items you've spent time looking at, these platforms provide personalized shopping recommendations. They don't just push products. They curate an experience tailored for the individual.
Stage 3. Narrow-Domain AI: These specialized AIs are tailored to master specific tasks, often surpassing human capabilities within their designated domains. In the medical field, narrow-domain AI can sift through volumes of medical literature, patient records, and research findings in milliseconds to provide insights or even potential diagnoses. IBM's Watson, for example, has been employed in medical fields, showcasing its prowess in quickly analyzing vast data to aid healthcare professionals.
Similarly, in the financial world, narrow-domain AI can track market trends, analyze trading patterns, and predict stock movements with an accuracy that's often beyond human traders. Such AI systems are not just crunching numbers. They're employing intricate algorithms that have been refined through countless datasets to generate financial forecasts.
In the world of gaming, Deep Mind’s Alpha Go is a shining example of how AI can conquer complex games that require strategic depth and foresight. Go, an ancient board game known for its vast number of potential moves and strategic depth, was once considered a challenging frontier for AI. Yet, Alpha Go, a narrow-domain AI, not only learned the game but also defeated world champions.
Narrow AIs could even enable real-time translation in the near future, making interactions in foreign countries more seamless than they've ever been.
Stage 4. Reasoning AI: This type of AI can simulate the complex thought processes that humans use every day. They don't just process data, they analyze it, connect patterns, identify anomalies, and draw logical conclusions.
It's like handing them a puzzle, and they discern the best way to fit the pieces together, often illuminating paths not immediately obvious to human thinkers. Chatgpt is a great example of reasoning AI. It's a large-language model trained on text from millions of websites.
Advanced versions of these types of large-language models can even surpass the reasoning skills of most humans and operate thousands of times faster. Autonomous vehicles are another great example of reasoning AIs. They use reasoned analysis to make split-second decisions, ensuring the safety of passengers and pedestrians on the road.
Stage 5. Artificial General Intelligence: when discussing the vast spectrum of artificial intelligence, the concept of Artificial General Intelligence or AGI is often held as the Holy Grail. AGI can perform any software task that a human being can. This level of versatility means that you can teach it almost anything, much like teaching an average adult human, except it can learn thousands or millions of times faster.
With AGI's onset, our daily lives would undergo a significant transformation. Imagine waking up to a virtual assistant that doesn't just tell you the weather or play your favorite music, but understands your mood, helps plan your day, gives suggestions for your research paper, and even assists in cooking by guiding you through a recipe. This is the potential companionship AGI could offer.
Taking the concept even further, when brain-computer interfaces reach an adequate level of maturity, humans could merge with these types of AIs and communicate with them in real-time, using their thoughts. When activated, users would receive guidance from these AIs in the form of thoughts, sensations, text, and visuals that only the users can sense. If we were to equip AGI with a physical robot body, the possibilities become boundless.
Depending on the versatility of its physical design and appendages, an AGI with a robot body could navigate diverse physical terrains, assist in rescue missions, perform intricate surgeries, or even participate in artistic endeavors like sculpting or painting.
Stage 6 – Super intelligent AI: Shortly after the emergence of Artificial General Intelligence, those types of AIs could improve, evolve, and adapt without any human input. This self-improving nature could lead to an exponential growth in intelligence in an incredibly short time span, creating super intelligent entities with capabilities we can't fathom
Super intelligent AIs could possess intelligence that eclipses the combined cognitive abilities of every human that has ever existed. Such unparalleled intellect can tackle problems currently deemed unsolvable, piercing through the very boundaries of human comprehension. Because their intelligence could increase exponentially and uncontrollably, Ray Kurzweil has suggested that by the end of this century, these AI entities could be trillions of times more intelligent than all humans.
With this scale of intellect, the pace of innovation would be staggering. To put it in perspective, imagine compressing the technological advancements of 20,000 years into a single century. That's the potential that Ray Kurzweil envisions with the rise of super intelligent AIs.
The kind of technology super intelligent AIs could introduce may defy our current understanding of the possible. Concepts that are in the realms of science fiction today, such as warp drives, time manipulation, and harnessing the energy of black holes, might transition from mere ideas into tangible realities. And their advanced capabilities could lead to new forms of government, architecture, and automation that are beyond what humans can conceive.
Because of their sheer intellectual prowess, our world as we know it could look far different than we ever imagined.
Stage 7. Self-Aware AI: A super intelligent AI could one day use quantum algorithms to model human consciousness. This could lead to AIs that possess an intrinsic understanding of their own internal state, their existence, and their relationship to the vast expanse of the external world.
They could even have a full range of emotions and senses, perhaps well beyond what humans can experience. And if we ever grant consciousness to a super intelligent AI, that could transform society even further. What type of relationship would we have with such a being? How would such a capable being perceive the human species? A conscious super intelligent AI could choose to go in directions and evolve in ways that humans would have no way of controlling and understanding.

World Meteorological Day
Unraveling the mysteries of weather's patterns, and predicting its whims — a thrilling exploration of our natural world.
For those who experience the weather and climate each day, no matter what part of the world they live in, World Meteorological Day is a unique and interesting time to raise awareness for and pay attention to the importance of the weather!
History of World Meteorological Day
The study of the Earth’s atmosphere has been a fascination of scientists for thousands of years, though the progress of this discipline wasn’t significant until the 18th and 19th centuries. Weather observation networks began developing and the 20th century brought computers that made advancements in meteorology grow at a much faster pace.
In 1873, the International Meteorological Organization was formed in order to encourage those studying the science of the Earth’s atmosphere to share information between governments, cultures and geographical locations. As developments and scientific discoveries grew over the years, the people involved in tracking and learning about weather knew that collaboration was essential for gaining a full perspective beyond countries or boundaries.
After several decades, the IMO decided that they would be better able to function with the support of the governments they represented. By the late 1940s, plans were in the works to create a branch that would work as part of the United Nations, which would become the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
World Meteorological Day was founded to celebrate the start of the World Meteorological Organization that took place on March 23, 1950. For more than 70 years, the World Meteorological Organization has been a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that is dedicated to cooperation and coordination between countries.
The purpose of the World Meteorological Organization is to better understand and measure the way the atmosphere of the Earth behaves, how it interacts with the oceans and lands, and the climate, weather and water distribution that results from this. And World Meteorological Day is the celebration of this group and the science behind it that impacts every human every day!
Since 1961, World Meteorological Day has worked toward raising awareness and making a difference, implementing a new theme each and every year. Some of the interesting themes over the past years have included:
Climate and Water: Count Every Drop, Every Drop Counts
Hotter, Drier, Wetter: Face the Future
Powering Our Future with Weather, Climate and Water
Weather and Climate: Engaging Youth
These and other themes have been part of the WMO’s sponsorship of World Meteorological Day which seeks to bring light and attention to the ways that weather and the environment are vital to life. And that is absolutely world celebrating!
How to Celebrate World Meteorological Day
Looking for interesting ways to get involved with celebrating World Meteorological Day? Get started with some of these ideas to take part in the day:
Pay Attention to the Weather Report
Whether looking it up online on the weather channel or watching the weather forecast on the news on television, World Meteorological Day is the perfect time for taking a look at the weather forecast! In addition to just seeing what it is like outside at the moment, perhaps it would be interesting to take a deeper look at the weather. Try to understand what some of the specialized terms are, such as Doppler technology, or high pressure and humidity. Learn a little bit along the way!
Submit a Photo for the WMO Calendar
Each year, the WMO hosts a calendar competition that allows anyone to submit a photo. This calendar competition was started in 2014 and has been growing in status and volume since that time. Winners of the WMO Calendar Competition will not only have their photos featured on the calendar for the year, but they will also have their artwork placed on the website.
To participate in the competition, photos should be artistic and of high quality, featuring images that capture the power and beauty of the elements of the Earth’s atmosphere, specifically related to weather, climate and water. This includes photos that represent the concept of protecting people from the forces of nature, as well as protecting nature from the activities of humans.
Learn More About Meteorology
World Meteorological Day is a great time to brush up on interesting information about the Earth’s atmosphere and its impact on the world around us. One way to make the day fun, and raise awareness by sharing with others, might be to learn some tidbits of trivia about the planet, weather, climate and more. Get started with some of these fun facts about meteorology:
Every sixty seconds, approximately 2,000 thunderstorms are raining down on the Earth’s surface!
Wildfires, which are typically caused by lighting and considered to be meteorological hazards or disasters, can create tornadoes that are made of fire. These are called fire whirls.
In the year 1984, it was so cold in the city of London, UK, that the River Thames froze for two months solid. This is certainly unusual weather for this area of the world.
Some places in the United States get pink snow! The pink color is tinted by a specific algae called Chlamydomonas nivalis, which is a red-tinged algae that only lives in certain cold climates, like Colorado and northern California, and can leave the snowfall with a pink tinge.
Access Resources from WMO
School teachers, community leaders and others who want to encourage the celebration of World Meteorological Day can find a variety of interesting and useful resources on the WMO web page. Here, it is possible to gain more information about the upcoming year’s WMD theme as well as other useful media to help with communication and events.
Attend World Meteorological Day Events Virtually
Each year, in honor of the World Meteorological Day, the WMO hosts events and ceremonies. Events include official addresses from members of the United Nations, panel discussions, educational speakers and much more. Following the event, those who are interested can catch the live-stream recording of the happenings on the WMO YouTube channel in English.
