a through line to 3a that i really enjoyed is the setup of colin's frustration and disappointment with the lack of connection with his sexual partners -

- contrasted with the payoff of his sexual intimacy with penelope. with no words and without really calling attention to it over any other beat in the sex scene, they manage to communicate visceral connection in the moment he, er. inserts himself.

colin is Extremely Present in this moment, attuned to penelope's experience in a way that grounds him in her body as much as his own. their separateness ceases to exist here, it's full communion.

and i love the way the framing/writing - again without putting too fine a point on it - manages to reinforce that the sexual intimacy being especially gratifying is a result of their existing love.

their ability to make each other giggle at such intense moments is indicative of their comfort with each other is indicative of how loneliness cannot exist between the two of them because years of intimacy exists in their every interaction. best friends to lovers utilized to its greatest effect.

Identical eyes, even the tresses
