I need something to help protect them and get them back alive!" - "Here, sweetheart, have the Fey-Touched feat for an extra d6 damage, in return for your eternal servitude." Maybe there's more to it (or less to the other end of the deal), but that's a bit how it feels. Though of course, an extra d6 for every attack when you can potentially make six per round is nice enough.
