[ID: A comic with two panels. In panel one, an angry figure points at distant houses and stick figures on fire. The figure has orange hair and green eyes (representing Lilith) and says, "She commited genocide." In panel two is an angry figure with long black hair, a yellow headpiece, and yellow earrings (representing Arella). She holds demon!Raven (drawn with red skin, four yellow eyes, long black hair, and a blue cloak). Arella shouts, "She was ovulating!!?" Demon!Raven has her face in her hands. End ID.]

Thinking of Arella's grief...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like so much of Arella is defined by Raven and her love for Raven and what Trigon did to her and I feel at this point Arella has sacrificed her ideals once (throwing herself into endless conflict against Trigon to stop him from leaving after issue 6 of NTT), her physical and mental safety, and how she cannot even believe in her ideals anymore (rather than just working against what gave her peace) and she wants revenge. Everything that gave her life meaning is gone when Raven dies and not just because she loved Raven.
I feel like also Raven and Arella both characterize it as weakness that Arella did not kill Raven... jeez... despite the fact that we know that Arella loved Raven from when she was a baby (link).
I think part of the way Raven so clearly defines Arella's life does help explain why Arella is unavailable for Raven for a bit later (link)

New Teen Titans (Vol. 2) #6 - post-Terror of Trigon
It's very interesting to me that even in the midst of this earnest team heart-to-heart, when Dick is explicitly working against Batman's teachings of privacy and reserve to try and open up to his friends…he still does not actually discuss the nightmare that he experienced. (Which was a doozy.)
Donna and Gar talk explicitly about what happened in their own nightmares - their evil selves, their innermost fears and struggles. Vic doesn't go into detail like they did, but he does talk about the nightmare renewing his horror with the way he looks, and his fear of losing touch with Vic Stone, the person underneath the cyborg steel.
Kory is the only other person who doesn't talk about her nightmare at all - in fact, she's the only one who apparently hasn't been shaken by Trigon's torture, instead focusing on how they saved the world, knowing that they've helped so many people.
Dick not going into his own nightmare is probably meant to reflect a similar resolve and forward outlook, as the Titans' leader... He does firmly stand behind his decision to leave Robin behind, to become Nightwing and a full-time Titan, which is an obvious rejection of the fears and themes tangled up in his battle against his "evil self".
But that's only clear to Dick himself, and to the readers, who know what he experienced in the nightmare. He doesn't tell his friends about it - maybe can't gut himself and bare his vulnerabilities that far? Even as he's admitting how much it bothers him that they don't talk to each other more on a personal level, how he feels better with them than with anyone else, and wants them to keep getting better... Oh, Dickie.

Hello, welcome to Incorrect Fab Fifteen, a blog about all things Silver Age Teen Titans! I've come up with the term Fab Fifteen to broadly refer to all of the members (which I'll explain below) as well as a natural expansion of the Fab Five (plus, it's better than just calling them the OG Teen Titans or the 70s Team).

So a special note: despite Beast Boy being a part of the Titans West (as well as appearing in the above photograph), they do not count as part of the Fab Fifteen, mainly because he's already part of the New Teen Titans. Also note that this acc won't be using the New 52 version of Duela Dent (although the Gotham Knights version is fine so feel free to send in any hcs about her)
Also you maybe be asking why Gnarrk's entry is below instead of with everybody else. That's because Gnarrk was never a Titan in the first place. Sure, he appeared as part of the title and was there when the Titans West was formed but he never actually joined the team at all. Gnarrk becoming a Titan became a thing when he was introduced following the New 52.
Gnarrk

Uhh, yeah, so that's the Fab Fifteen! Again, don't worry about this technical jargon if you're a newcomer and you just wanna look at the other posts, we're all here to have fun.

RAVEN WITH A READER WHO IS FORCIBLY TURNED INTO A DEMON BY TRIGON OVERNIGHT
Headcannons because you girl looooooves headcannons
♤She'd be pretty fucking angry let's be fr
♤You'd come bursting into her room sobbing your eyes out and covering your face
♤its probably like 2am so it would probably be quite a surprise
♤she'd literally peel your hands off of your face despite your efforts to stop her
♤the rage she felt with her father was undescribable she knew he didn't like you but going this far was horrifying
♤she'd calm you down and reassure you there was nothing wrong with your face and you were beautiful before going on an absolute rampage to find her father
♤she'd destroy anything in her path to find him and once she did it was lights out for a good long while for him
♤she did what she could to get you back to normal but nothing could calm the absolute terror you now felt for her father
♤even though you knew raven would rip him to shreds you still didn't feel safe by yourself so slept with raven instead
♤if you thought she was protective of you before then buckle up because that's just been booted to 1000%
♤but yeah the tower is now triton proof and so are you :D

I think Titans #10 actually exemplifies a lot of what has weakened about Raven's character over the years. Take this panel:
Tumblr media
This would be shocking if NTT Raven said it! Her pacifism is so well established that this would be an immediate glaring red flag that something is wrong with her! It is meant to be out of character for her here, as this is her demon side speaking, but it loses a lot of impact because there has been no attention paid to Raven's pacifism. We don't even know if she's even meant to be from Azarath in this current run.
Because they've distanced themselves so much from Raven's original backstory and vital parts of her characterization, this moment falls flat. While what she did (cutting her brother's arm off) is more brutal than her usual attack style, there's been nothing in this run to suggest she shies away from offensive attacks. It's not even particularly egregious by superhero standards: he's a demon, and we can assume his arm will grow back or otherwise be magically healed, and he was threatening a lot of people when she attacked him. It's even less dramatic than NTT's ongoing conflict of Kory thinking the Titans should kill their enemies and everyone else having a more merciful approach.
Then there's the distancing of actual Raven (I refuse to call her Rachel) from anything her demon side does. She's literally imprisoned in a gem. It isn't even her body committing these evil acts. A lot of the impact in the original Terror of Trigon arc is that it really is Raven doing all this; Raven, who's been worn down for years both in universe and out of it, finally snapping and becoming a villain.
This, in contrast, has about as much impact as if Trilogy was the main villain of this story. I do like the angle this comic is going of having demon Raven pretending to still be her normal self among the Titans, but having normal Raven be a physical separate person who's in magic prison really weakens it. It's not as far as I can tell that it's meant to be a trapped aspect of her soul, it seems like she's just an entirely separate person from her evil self. Demon Raven even calls normal Raven her sister.
Tumblr media
It's meant to be more figurative (at least I sure hope it is) but it just drives in how severe the degree of separation between normal Raven and demon Raven has gotten. Nothing about this story would change if demon Raven was Raven's shapeshifting half-sister. Contrasted to something like Terror of Trigon, where Raven being the same person, just corrupted into something unrecognizable, is so central to the entire plot and theme, it feels a lot cheaper and less impactful.
I just think this arc could be so much better without the weird complete division of Raven and demon Raven as separate people. Instead of having both Raven and demon Raven be physically separate people, they could've still gone with the gem thing as a sort of projection in Raven's mind, with her good side locked up in it. They still share the same body, it's just different aspects of her soul fighting each other.
I don't hate this story, but it's frustrating because it feels like it could be so much better if just more care was put into it. I wish there was more time to show the Titans' friendship, so the betrayal of Raven siding with her father could be more devastating. I wish they'd paid more attention to Raven's pacifism earlier, so this issue would actually be jarring. I'm interested in Trilogy, but they haven't shown us enough of him to really get any feel for his personality and motivations other than a vague jealousy over Raven being Trigon's favorite. Hopefully more will be revealed in the future, but with the way this comic has been going so far I'm not too hopeful.

i couldnt reply before but here it is. Long asf.
@raven-harlot
What a convenient way to forget Nightwing's arc with the Titans, written by Taylor a few months ago, the beginning of his Titans. Where raven wasn't at all "just Gar's gf", right? Raven did things on her own, she wasn't there just to be with Gar, she had moments, she had a leading role, she had a role in the arc that was much more than just being Gar's girlfriend, did you forget all that? Raven having action, Raven showing her best qualities with Olivia…She was the best and more interesting character of that arc without doubts. And even though she was with Gar there, it was never like she was stuck to him, was it?… While Raven had a second leader role in this arc, what happened with Gar? Nothing (he wasnt there just as Raven's boyfriend tho).
Do you remember TT Academy? Where Gar was doing exactly what Raven is doing now? Being a moral support for her partner? (oh no! A couple that helps and supports each other!😨😟) I bet at that moment you didn't think that Gar was "just Raven's bf", no, I bet you were saying something like "they made Raven Weak! Raven doesn't need a man!" Blah, blah, blah.
Traumas? What traumas? You know damn well that the only reason we're seeing Gar's trauma is because of what happened in Dark Crisis; otherwise we wouldn't see shit about his trauma, just like we won't see the other Titans' traumas.
Do you know what character progression is? Something Raven went through under Wolfman's writing? Do you remember how she tried to have relationships back then? how she tried to love, right? Raven has been free of Trigon for years, stop the cap, she can express her emotions without problems since the 80s.
Stop the cycle, do you want Raven to be some kind of Redhood going through the same arc over and over again?
Do you want Raven to be exactly like she was 40 years ago in the damn 80s, when she debuted as an 18-year-old woman who didn't even have friends and couldn't express her emotions?? Holy character regression!
If you say that Raven is unrecognizable and a totally different character (if that makes you feel better, keep pretending that, I guess) then just stop reading the comics…easy, that easy.
Did you start reading a Gar comic, where Raven was only going to be a character in a supporting role because the comic focuses on Gar and only Gar, hoping that she wouldn't be a character in a supporting role? The joke tells itself. Did you want her to be the protagonist of Gar's comic? And don't say she's just Gar's girlfriend and nothing more when she literally had her own comic where Gar WASN'T there, no matter how bad it was, it was a comic of her, about her, with a story for her, Gar wasn't there(i bet you got maddd when Raven talked about him tho{1 line in a 30 pages comic, before you even say anything lmao}).
Before this new Titans comic what did Gar have? Nothing at all. Raven instead? She had the storyline of Unkindness, she had some small roles in that same storyline in TTA and Shazam(where she was also given some respect), she had an important role in Dark Crisis: The Deadly Green, and it didn't end there, she also had a big fight with The Spectre. Gar at the event, meanwhile, was only being used as motivation for Dick and nothing else (0 scenes of Gar with Raven or Cyborg even when they are the characters that should have been with him). (And not to mention the Titans United comics, those are not from the main earth, but Raven had a big role in the second one, and in none of them was she "just Gar's gf", i wasnt a big fan tho).
Oh and let's not forget the comic where once again Raven crossed paths with Trigon, and it wasn't the best thing in the world, but Gar wasn't there… she literally got a mini story for herself there in that Lazarus Planet tie-in, while Gar at that time only had the back up from Action Comics with Power Girl, where they once again ignored Raven and Victor and used Dick.
And there was also Knight Terrors: Titans, where once again, Raven wasnt there as "just Gar's gf".
Umm, no, just because a writer doesn't give focus to the character you want it means it is misogyny😂. There are 4 issues that don't focus on Raven, so he hates women? 😂, let's completely forget how he even put Donna in the role of leader in that mission(not much but is more than what she got in the last 3 years). They are setting up Beast World, of course they will focus on Gar. And even then, let's look at who's been focused on so far: Dick(who is Taylor's favorite and is being pushed by editorial as a super leader), Gar(who is being set up for something bigger) and Wally(who is part of a semi-plot from the comic). Vic isn't getting that much focus either, I guess that makes Taylor racist, right?… Don't worry, more moments will come for them, I repeat, ITS 4 ISSUES IN. Even Taylor has said that Kori will have more prominence in the next issues.
Do you remember the little arc with the Brotherhood of Evil and Madame Rogue?…who was the lead and who was in a supporting role?…oh yeah! Gar was the main character while the others were mostly sidelined… And that was by Wolfman and Pérez…
About the part of Taylor not knowing how to write women, Taylor isnt a perfect writer for sure, im not saying he is, and he isn't Gail Simone, he misses too, but yk one of his most acclaimed comics from marvel is a comic about a female character(X-23), right? Lol.
You say Taylor doesn't understand her, yet, he is probably writing the best version of Raven since Wolfman in the 80s. He clearly understand this character, and its funny that you pretend he doesnt. Cant even imagine how you reacted to Teen Titans Rebirth Raven🥴.
We both know that if Raven had these scenes she is having with Gar, with Donna or Kori instead, you wouldn't be saying shit. If Raven was saying "i love you" to Kori, or Donna, you wouldn't be saying shit…that's the funny part about this LMAO. You know your account isn't private, right? How do you expect someone to take your "raven cant express her emotions!!" seriously when we can see what you post? (And we can also read the comics...)
You aren't mad because Taylor doesn't understand Raven, you are mad here because Taylor isn't writing what YOU want.
Raven isnt the same character she was 40 years ago, just like Gar isnt, or just like Batman isnt the same character he was in the 80s or the 60s. Its called character progression(well, Bruce is in a deep whole right now lol). Raven has long passed her days of not being able to express her emotions, but you are saying she should go back to square 1?…
So yeah, I proved Raven in the past years has had more going on that just being Gar's gf. Raven by Tom Taylor has as well been more than "just Gar's supportive gf". And seriously, you were so mad about this that you made 3 posts complaining the same day lmao. You don't like it? STOP. READING. IT instead of reading it just to complain like a damn baby.
All that said, do you think i dont want more solo stuff for Raven?? Its really a shame Howard dropped the ball so hard with that story, a solo story of Raven that will barely mean anything at the end…
And…I dont know, how else would i find out about Raven's new content in this site?…
(seriously tho, you are in the tags, i could just ignore it, just as you could ignore the comics you dont like, but this time i decided i was gonna reply to such a dumb post).

I do not know if t was the intention here but this shows so much how abled society views the appearance of being abled far more important than any actually being abled.
without his prostheses that keep him alive, victor will die, but he is being told here (in the nightmare you get from Raven during ToT) that he should take them off anyway.
Without mobility devices many disabled people cannot leave their homes or have any quality of life but people, including doctors, still shun the use of mobility devices or appearing visibly disabled.
