(book/season three spoilers) man, imagine being jace. you’re literally like sixteen, maybe not even, you have a diabolical posture and you have had three dads and one is dead and gay and the other is just dead and the third is daemon targaryen of all people and you kind of hate him. he’s also your uncle. and your favourite sibling who is your only brother close in age to you is eaten by a dragon after you suggest that the two of you fly out with messages, so you blame yourself except you don’t have time to blame yourself because you’re in the middle of a war. and now your only other full sibling is a six year old who will steal your mother’s dragon in the future and die but i digress. and then your dad-uncle that you kind of hate sends assassins to kill your little cousin and then flies off on his dragon without a word and then your mom starts hooking up with his ex-girlfriend, but hey, at least she isn’t hooking up with HER ex-girlfriend who is also the mom of the guy that killed your brother. you can count your blessings for that. but your mom won’t let you do anything so you just storm around with your sister who is also your cousin who is also your fiancee and talk about how everything is going to shit. and then your mom lets bastards come live with you (you are also a bastard, but a better kind of bastard) and one of them touches your hair that you spent hours styling. you have beautiful hair but everyone gives you shit because it’s the wrong colour or something. all in all, jace should have crashed out even more.

normally i don't rely too much on actors' insights but i feel like not only has oakes put it all in a perfectly succinct way in these interviews, but his insights also translate beautifully to what we see on screen because, aside from juan's exterior façade and his deep insecurities about himself (compared to his siblings) and his parentage, he's clearly the most naive among his siblings based on his actions that set him apart from cesare and lucrezia. he never once plotted against his family because he genuinely trusted them (when he was massively shocked by cesare betraying him at forli, it wasn't only because of the damage it caused to the family's reputation but also because he had expected loyalty on the grounds of them being brothers). he believed he did everything for them and to uphold their name. his lack of "borgia" traits stems from his absence of cunning and his inability to act righteously as political savvy, and his intentions aren't born of ill intent but are driven by his sense of duty as a soldier to protect the family and prove himself to them even through dubious means (like killing paolo for instance who could've damaged lucrezia's reputation), rather than by selfish and meticulous ambition like his brother. in a family ruled by ambition, he certainly did love them simply for being his "borgia clan" and wanted to belong, but they perceived him as a weak link that needed to go.

Stuff to look out for in wild ghost types that indicates you SHOULDN'T catch 'em!

This has nothing to do with trainability and "evilness" cuz anyone who knows me knows I couldn't care LESS about that! I love nasty guys! This is about Pokemon that would be worse off caught, mainly cuz they're trying to move on or would be emotionally harmed by doing so.

Ghost types with unusually docile behavior for their kind. These guys are usually close to becoming at-peace spirits and heading to heaven or ressurection or whatever you personally believe in. While a pokeball isn't quite as spirit-binding as a seal or what have ya, it still impedes a lot on them moving from one plane to the next, so it's more than just a wasting a pokeball issue. In contrast, a ghost that frequently fades into transparency or invisibility as a passive thing instead of a battle strategy is probably super out of it and disconnected from the world. That dude could use a friend and a stronger tie to the world, catch 'em if they're willing.

Ghost types can often get very attached to objects and locations, it's how ya get haunted houses and furniture and such. Whether or not you should catch these guys is very context dependent, and them hanging around something isn't always attachment. A Haunter always sticks around one room but seems restless and uninterested? It probably doesn't like where it's stuck, so go ahead and catch it. A Greavard is always playing with a thrown out toy? Catch it as long as you take the toy with ya (if it's too gross to do that, then DON'T CATCH THE GREAVARD!). A Mismagius is dusting all the furniture in this abandoned house and is defending that stuff from stray blasts from your guys' battle? LEAVE IT. That house is important to it, and it's probably also very important to that house and the other ghosts living there. Also do NOT steal items from a ghost type, I mean it, it's basically like taking an Arcanine's pup and you might just actually die. Don't do this or you're askin for it.

Speaking of the Mismagius example, ghost types DO play a role in ecosystems, even if they are part-dead! (Especially ghost types who came from reproduction, often those guys ain't even dead and are more just deeply connected to the ghostly plane. Anyways.) Guys like Dusknoir especially can play an important role in moving spirits through their cycle and keeping a place from being overcrowded with restless and unhappy spirits. You could almost consider them a keystone species like Sharpedo and Lycanrock! 9 times out of 10, do NOT catch a wild Dusknoir, ESPECIALLY if they're rare in the area! Trevenant are similar, catching a wild one is a surefire way to destabilize an ecosystem! A lot of Pokemon can be keystone species in different situations, so DO YA RESEARCH ON AN AREA BEFORE TOSSING AROUND QUICK BALLS!

Angry ghosts do not want ANYTHING to do with humans most of the time. If a ghost straight up attacks ya with "little reason", that reason is probably to dissuade you, and might be more personally motivated than other wild mons just doing their predator/prey thing. My rule of thumb: if a ghost type giggles or teases you after attacking you, it's just bein a ghost type. If it doesn't, it might just hate ya, and you should suck it up and NOT try to catch the guy.
