Oh boy would I

For this list let’s focus on physical disabilities, both because they’re the most commonly dismissed by the fandom and bc if we try to cover everything we’d be here all day (that can be another list, maybe, if y’all want)

This isn’t going to be comprehensive bc I’m tired but!! I will aim for a broad variety of examples nonetheless

Bumblebee - You all know him, you all love him. He’s the most obvious and most well known example of a disabled Cybertronian character.

In many iterations he is mute

Not by choice but because he lacks a voice box. Bee physically isn’t capable of speech and depending on the version has different tools to work around that. Sometimes he uses his radio to repurpose song and radio dialogue into speech, in cyberverse he also makes use of the internet for clips. In the aligned continuity (tfp and connected media) he speaks in binary, a very simplified form of language using beeps and buzzes, but still lacks a real voice and can’t form words.

In IDW he has a cane

At one point in the comics Bumblebee was shot by a human protester and as a result used a cane for a good bit of time. I haven’t had the chance to read that far into IDW yet so I’m not sure how long he had the cane for but it was enough time that it’s a solidified part of the charcaters history. I’ve seen little models of the cane for sale, to be paired with bee figures.

TFP Ultra Magnus - everyone’s favorite awkward commander, despite his popularity he’s surprisingly overlooked when it comes to this discussion

An amputee, he lost his hand

During an energon raid with wheeljack, magnus’ hand was crushed. Ratchet couldn’t save it and had to amputate, replacing it with a hooked prosthetic. I call it a prosthetic rather than replacement part because despite him being able to move it, it’s not a hand. Not in the way he had previously, and he has to relearn how to use it at all.

I think that’s an important distinction to make when discussing disability and transformers. Some bots might have only ever had one hand, or no legs, or etc but that’s always been their level of ability and since they Are robotic. Yeah they might not have the same capabilities as another bot but that’s a hard metric to go by. Seekers can fly but a grounder isn’t disabled because they can’t fly too, it’s a different standard.

WFC Shamble - far lesser known than Magnus, and reasonably so, this background character is Also missing a limb

Amputee, leg edition

His prosthetic is a lot less fancy than magnus’s, it’s a simple peg leg. Put em together and you get a pirate. Not much to say about him since i don’t know how he lost the leg, just that he did.

Shadow Striker - Most awesome lady in cyberverse. Unlike the above two, she Was able to get actual replacement parts rather than prosthetics. Despite this, she is both shown throughout the show and implied to have

Impaired mobility

Chronic pain

She was able to get replacement parts yes but they were needed because she was blown up. The limbs she was given were kinda just what the others could Find and as such are mismatched and don’t fit her very well. Her motor skills took a blow especially when it comes to combat, something she used to excel in. Her new limbs are described as unstable and prone to malfunction. The loss of mobility and implied chronic pain that come along with her situation are rough, but she makes do.

SG Soundwave - my favorite little guy, he’s in a bit of a different situation than the previous.

Bad Joints ™

His body was entirely overhauled multiple times, successfully, but the latest frame change was done with conflicting metals. Earth and Cybertronian materials clash in his joints, making them prone to getting stopped up. The most affected hinge being the one on the door to his tape deck. It is so prone to getting stuck that his cassettes refuse to dock with him at risk of getting trapped. To work around this, Soundwave has the aid of a personalized case he carries around that they dock in instead.

IDW Sunstreaker - speaking of assistive devices, this guy was (for a time) a wheelchair user! Or,, hoverchair.

Temporary,,, paraplegic? Correct me if another term fits better

Taking this moment for an aside to say hey!! Lookit that, both canes and hoverchairs are things that canonically and casually exist on cybertron!! It’s not too wild to assume there are bots out there who use them long term!! Yes both characters on this list were repaired eventually but they’re also both very popular old characters from an action based franchise and hasbro doesn’t have the balls to make something like that permanent yet. We the fandom are not hasbro. We can do whatever we damn want with our OCs. It’s canon that ur little guy can use mobility aids.

Ok, PSA over, anyway yeah Sunny’s body was basically wrecked and alpha trion was able to repair all of him except his legs. This put him in a hoverchair for a good amount of time.

Finback - he’s a con, a pirate, who developed a “metal wasting disease”

He’s on permanent life support

The disease is going to kill him eventually, and it’s explicitly stated that he’s come to terms with the idea of his death. In the meantime he’s using pretender tech, kinda like fancy armor, to reinforce himself and boost his immune system

Perceptor - for a microscope, the fact he’s got vision issues in multiple continuities is kinda ironic

He’s fully blind in cyberverse

He lost an eye in IDW

Between the two we get to see both routes taken to work with this. Adaption and technological aid. In cyberverse he uses his scope to compensate for the loss of vision Toph-style. In IDW he built himself a monocle that basically replaces the pieces that are missing.

Now we get into the uniquely Cybertronian disabilities, one’s that don’t quite translate to human conditions

Transmutate - is a beloved bot from beast wars

They can’t transform, they don’t have an alt mode

I’m hazy on the details of their character but afaik they came from a damaged stasis pod. Described as deformed and handicapped for their both their lack of an alt mode and general appearance, they are probably the oldest explicitly disabled Cybertronian character

Xaaron - from G1 is in a similar situation

He can’t transform, it would kill him

Unlike transmutate he does have an alt mode, a tank, but after thousands of years without transforming he is no longer able to. The new stress it would cause on his body would kill him.

Broadside - continuing with the subject of alt modes, this clumsy boy is a boat! That’s not a good thing.

He’s very prone to motion sickness

As you can imagine, chronic sea sickness isn’t the most helpful thing when you are the boat. This brings in the entirely new element of mobility issues that are inherent to alt modes. A bot that functions fine in root form might not in alt mode and vice versa.

Trailbreaker - is another instance of this. He’s not a fast car by any means but that doesn’t stop the fact

His frame has a very high energon cost

Possibly the least fuel efficient autobot, he’s got an outlier ability on top of it all that only further increases his required energon intake. He needs to pay more attention to his energon levels and refuel more often overall.

G1 Knockout - yes that’s right the shiny medic himself is on this list, though not for the same reason as his tfp version, g1 knockout still lives up to his name

He’s prone to fainting

A knockout in the more literal sense, he faints when he gets too excited. Fully collapses and everything. Since he’s a fall risk, his teammates take care to keep an eye on him.

Annnnd Yknow he probably should’ve been earlier in the list along with the “human-ish” issues but I’m tired, it’s late, and I’m bringing this list to a close

Megatron will have regular talks with Ratchet and Bumblebee, in this version its more of autobot therapy and rehabilitation than prison. Orion(Optimus? What do I call him??)has tried to talk to Ratchet but Ratchet usually just ignores him

Soundwave has to deal with all these insane children but it's okay because he loves mentoring them and he loves seeing his cassettes have friends. I like to imagine that Ravage and Nightshade work together a lot. Just like Nightshade turning around in a swivle chair with Ravage in their lap like a super villain. I'd also like to imagine that Lazerbeak and Nightshade go on flights together

I kinda want to give Breakdown to Jawbreaker as a mentor but it could also be fun to have a redeemed grimlock be his mentor, or we could do both

I mean hey I've been rolling with Orion because it suggests that he's not under the Matrix's influence anymore (thus, not a prime?) And I've seen fics where post war he goes back to being Orion again (hell for a short amount of time we see it in IDW)

Also ooooo on it being more like a rehabilitation center than prison because honestly speaking that's just. Better. Otherwise it's just tossing someone in a hole because vengeance.

From what I know of SG Ratchet he's a truly interesting case that leads to him being terrifying in specific ways (or at least that was my interpretation of the SG comics I read, that is probably not the case for EVERY version of SG Ratchet)

We full well can do both (though I can see sg Breakdown as being Jawbreaker's first mentor for a while, but reformed Grimlock is his second mentor and that's when he gets his stygimoloch altmode)

I'm actually campaigning for later on sg Bumblebee who's trying out this redemption thing being Thrash's mentor, because that would be ~interesting~

Things Final Fantasy III does not tell you about Final Fantasy III.

When it comes to RPGs, information that the player has is far from a guarantee. Some games will tell players practically everything about their systems and leave it to the player to use that information. Others will leave some mechanics in the background, quietly applying them without the player's knowledge. The Final Fantasy III remake falls into the latter category, as there are some mechanics that the player may not realize even exist unless they look outside of the game. Here are seven of them.

This is based on the Future Press Official Strategy Guide. As far as SGs go, it seems pretty close to the Japanese SE guide (baring at least one case).

Party Member Levels (Life of the Party)

While temporary party aren't directly controllable, they seem to have their own levels and stats. Interestingly the Future Press strategy guide states that they also have stats. Though I should clarify: At this time, I have yet to find these in the Japanese strategy guide, so I am not entirely sure that these are accurate. However, the FP guide in general is close to the Japanese guide in terms of technical information, so I am willing to accept that risk.

These are:

Sara: Lv 5 (Str/Vit/Agi/Min: 6, Int: 7)

Cid: Lv 3 (Str/Agi: 5, Vit/Int/Min: 8)

Desch: Lv 10 (Str: 15, Vit: 10, Agi: 14, Int: 7, Min: 6

Aria: Lv 25 (All: 25)

Alus: Lv 30 (All: 35)

Doga/Unei: Lv 50 (All: 45)

Some observations:

The guide notes that the characters stats are usually significantly higher than the main characters' at the same levels. This is especially noticeable with Alus (The party's base stats, by compare, will be: Str/Agi: 24, Vit/Min/Int: 20)

Cid is the only party member to be weaker than the character before him (Sara), presumably due to how little time the party spends with him. He does have an impressively strong hammer, though.

Despite being portrayed as a White Mage, Sara's Int (7) is slightly higher than her Min (6).

It seems that after Desch, the devs kinda gave up with making varied stats, so Aria, Alus, Doga and Unei have the same number for all their stats.

Coincidence or otherwise, Aria's stat number also matches her level.

Doga and Unei share the same levels and stats as each other, a distinction no other party member has. For extra fun, Xande is also level 50, although his actual stats are unfortunately but understandably different.

Alus, a 10 year old boy is somehow twice as strong as Desch, a grown man.

Mognet Details (Stampin' N Stompin')

Most of Mognet's discussion usually begins and ends with it being connected to the sidequests. Because of this, there are a few features of Mognet that go undernoticed.

One particular aspect is the cards: For meeting the Legendary Smith with a mastered job and defeating the Iron Giant, the party can get cards signifying their mastery.

(I have yet to defeat the Iron Giant. I apologize for being a fraud).

In the PSP and Steam versions, these cards are mostly just rewards. In the DS version, however, they can be used as stamps for Mognet. And while the Iron Giant is purely to flaunt your superiority over the beast, the job mastery cards actually allow players to help out other players: If a player holding a signed letter runs into the Legendary Smith, she will give the player the respective job mastery item without having a level 99 job. While it doesn't break the game, due to how late it is before you can encounter the Smith, it does cut down on the grind you'd need if you wanted those items.

Encounter Frequency (Fights in the A.M. P.M. F.M.)

In Octopath Traveler, a later game by Team Asano, entering a new location will usually show you a danger level, giving you a general idea of how strong the enemies in that area are. While the mechanic is visible in OT, it was actually deployed discreetly in Final Fantasy III: Each area has a level that the guides recommend the player be at. However, the game itself uses a more subtle method: If your party is below the recommended level, the encounter rate will be higher than usual. By contrast, the further above the recommended level that the party is (up to six levels), the lower the encounter rate will be.

For example: The Nepto Shrine has a Danger Level of 10. If the party made it to the Shrine at level 7, then they will likely encounter more enemies than they would at level 10. By contrast, at level 16, they will have a chance at encountering the least amount of enemies.

Attack Types (SMASH! SLASH! STAB!)

In Final Fantasy III, elemental weaknesses are clear and easily implied by the fact that Mages have themed spells. However, the game also has a second, subtle weakness system: Attack Types, the physical counterpart.

The four attack types are

Unhanded: Despite the name, Claws are also included

Blow: Weapons that focus on slamming or bludgeoning the foe

Cut: Weapons that actually cut the foe, like Swords

Stab: Weapons that stab or have a stab-like effect, like Arrows

Interestingly, some weapons aren't mutually exclusive: Axes count for both blows and cuts, Knives count for both stabs and cuts and Unarmed counts for both Unhanded and Blow.

Hands (The Hands of Fate)

The Hand stat is a secret stat that the game silently keeps track of for each character. The hand stat represents how many times a physical attack has been made with a particular hand, the hand getting 3 XP for each use. Much like job levels only one hand level can be gained per battle, regardless of how many points are racked up. Theoretically, if you can have hands of different levels, although given how much III encourages dual-wielding, it's unlikely.

The FP guide recommends using the Ranger's barrage if you want to build up the hand stat, as that is a multi-hit attack that nonetheless counts each hit for the hand.

Weight (The Weight of the World)

Weight is not a new mechanic to Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy V, in particular has the stat help to determine who quickly a character acts (i.e. how fast the ATB bar fills up). However, V is the rare game where the game will actively inform the player of its existence. Other games in the series have it, including III (at least, in the remake).

Weight, along with Agility, determines how soon a character will act during the turn, as well as how many hits a character does (alongside the aforementioned Hand stat). This is why a Warrior with an axe will generally hit less than a Warrior with a sword, despite having higher attack. Interestingly magic also has weight to it with spells having a specific weight/cast time to it.

Boss Scripts (Script Write)

Bosses changing strategy mid-fight has been a Final Fantasy staple since at least Final Fantasy IV (Zeromus, for example, only starts to spam Meteo when he's close to dying), so the FF3 remake isn't particularly new or original for using this. Still, it's something to be aware of in case you make a particular fight harder than it needs to be.

A likely candidate for this is actually the final boss: While the Cloud of Darkness uses Particle Beam (and spams it during the last phase), it actually doesn't use the move until it's down to 80% of its HP, using the less threatening standard attack instead. This means that a player willing to take some turns to lower the danger can focus on the tentacles, which are the more immediate threat.

i’m gonna say she’d be worried more about lena being taken advantage of than any real anger over learning kara is sg again, largely because of her insistence that lex can’t harm her even tho she’s actively working against him, even if it’s just because she thinks they can eventually draw lena back into the family (remember she doesn’t have her og memories and has no idea what lex had become/done before crisis)

also, as it was, lillian was mostly removed from lex’s final plot. so say the phantoms don’t drag him away and they actually beat him and arrest him, i don’t think lillian would be sent too

(granted she died before the final “battle” so we don’t know really know if she still would’ve backed lex in the end)

so i could see her popping up at lena’s with all this supposed evidence of how kara is using her only to really see and get to know this fully lex-free version of lena and how good she’s doing both on her own and with kara that she eventually begrudgingly comes around and is the most unlikely semi-supportive mother-in-law kara never expected

as for lex, i think he goes full smear campaign against kara

like. i can absolutely see him funding a media competitor to exist solely to dig into every article kara has ever written or even researched or edited to discredit her credibility (especially since lena will continue to make it harder and harder for him to use kryptonite against her)

Some of the changes even affect Kickstarter stuff and the concept art, which comes off as revisionism and is a punch in the face to anyone who backed up the game years ago.

The "desexualization" still applies to characters that are legal like Cerebella.

They could also easily retcon Fillia's age to 18 but even then, it's just a number randomly slapped to a made up character and people thought Shantae was 16, while Yoko Littner from Gurren Lagann is like 14.

If people even thought SG had "evil content that had to be removed", why even support it in the first place? Same thing with P3P having the Ken social link: Why even support Atlus after the fact?

Maybe these people will always attach to Skullgirls and Persona because of the "waifu" appeal, meaning they only easily boycott Hogwartz Legacy because they think Harry Potter sucks and has no "cute 2D girls", not because of JK Rowling.

Otherwise, if Hogwartz Legacy had a 2D art style or even looked like whatever mobile game came prior, it wouldn't be just /v/ that'd talk about Merula Snyde.

People say "it's only censorship if the government does it" as if they would say the same if it applied to a game they cared about more and affected specific things they'd like. It's honestly a statement on pair with "it's only prejucide if THIS specific group does it" where the meaning of a word is revised by making it as if only a group can do the act.

"It's their game, they can do whatever they want" the actual creators (Alex Ahad included) aren't present anymore, so this whole "they own it" part lines up with the notion that IP's matter more than artist: Part of what Martin Scorcece talked about with MCU movies.

It's pretty clear that Skullgirls (And a lot of media people attach because it's always a topic of discussion online) was made for and by "perverts".

Even the people that claim to be ok with these changes probably got into it for the same factor ("Sex sells" etc) and now, most reviews are turning negative on Steam and most positive ones are from years ago.

Maybe the problem with Skullgirls is that it's technically an indiegame but it didn't have that much of a "indie spirit". What i mean is the "goal" of it landing on EVO, since the competitive fighting game scene became corporate and i occasionally draw a line between that and when they started to tone down the panty shots from years ago. Because people already assume that other companies get rid of fanservice and sexy stuff for the sake of approval (Meanwhile, SNK is owned by Saudi Arabia and Mai Shiranui is still safe). It's a similar sentiment people have towards that Boxtown cartoon for being indie yet having the same animation style as most modern cartoons or that one Dinomites "when you encourage an artist" comic involving someone's dream of a Pixar mascot character and a Katy Perry music video. "Indie" isn't just a status in terms of economics or publishing, i like to think it reflects on the actual creativity and risks.

And this is also because Skullgirls has its fair share of references and influences to other stuff, which might've come from media by artists who had to say "no, i want to make this". Take a look at various artists, writers, game devs, movie directors, composers etc that you like: Chances are they had moments where they had to stand up for their works. Some even have their own varied political beliefs and still managed to upset both sides.

Even if they're notorious in certain industries and praised by some nerd media sites, they still have content that you know people would lose their shit over if it came today.

Anyway, if i were to make a fighting game, it'd just use it as an excuse to "mechanically expand" my characters and say "look, they have attacks and abilities" and not give a fuck about a competitive scene. And i don't really hide the fact that i'm a pervert, so if my current game's art improves, i'll still retain a certain easter egg. Maybe i'm too wary over things like "Troll's Remorse" but i know it's possible for someone to still make stuff and retain somethings in a creative field.

Not like anybody cares who i am and i still consider myself at a very early phase.

There's still some lessons to learn from this event.

okay so i've watched this whole church scene several times now trying to figure out why it's not hitting any emotional buttons. padalecki is working his ass off and doing amazing and i'm getting nothing from jackles, subsequently i'm feeling not much of anything. did they break my emotions? which is extra weird because the text of this conversation is like.. romantic catnip? should be breaking and remaking my heart and yet...? just for a hint at the end the music reminded me of the expanse and THAT made me feeling a little something. so, like a broken record, i'm blaming this partially on the musical score.

so sometimes, i will admit, i have a kneejerk dislike - or anger, of something that seems irrational considering my shipping preferences. like, in 2x11 playthings and sam honestly looks like he's about to kiss dean, i was mad. i felt like they were baiting this thing that would never go anywhere, i was pissy about the gay jokes in the scenes prior at the front desk. now with separation and seeing 6 more seasons, i see how they actually have often stuck to this plausible deniability romance dynamic between them and made it more textual without making the impossible full commit to gay incest on the CW.

i don't think that's what's going on with me and the church thing because i'm not like freaked out->upset->pissy, i'm just... not feeling it. super weird

So 1060 is the penultimate installment of PKJ’s (stellar, spectacular, phenomenal, brilliant, top-tier) run on Action Comics and I just want to applaud him—for a lot of things, really, but in *this* specific case, I wanna stand and cheer because he’s making it EXTREMELY CLEAR that the twins (who are not actually twins) are in fact, Clark’s kids. No question, no ambiguity; Otho calls him papa, Clark refers to her as his daughter, and he’s willing to travel through LITERAL HELL to get her back.

It’s entirely possible that future writers will try to get rid of these kids, but I appreciate that PKJ has made it *very* difficult for them. XD Any retcon they’d come up with would be so messy. (Of course, saying this, I realize that the more depressingly realistic outcome here isn’t that writers actively try to erase them, but rather, will probably sideline/ignore them, trot them out for generic precocious kids stuff every now and then, and wait for the next line-wide reboot to ‘streamline’ Clark aka toss out anything mildly interesting and/or additive to Clark’s corner of the DCU.)

I love that Lois lets Kara and Osul have that moment, that space; I maintain that while Clark has a better handle on getting what the kids went through on Warworld given that he was there, and Lois obviously has more experience with raising kids that have unique needs thanks to Jon being half alien, but *Kara* is more readily equipped to sympathize with Otho and Osul’s struggles with transitioning to Earth life, based on her current, canon characterization. (Which is, uhhhh…Woman of Tomorrow and alsoooooo…Rebirth? Maybe? WoT is def canon, the recent SG one shot visually referenced Kara’s departure from Argo.) But I digress!

Speaking of the kids’ struggles…Otho is Going Through It. The stuff with Sister Shadow (AKA Norah Stone AKA evil daughter of an alt universe Bruce and Talia) trying to tempt her to the dark side by preying on her trauma/difficulty adapting to her new home and revealing a future, tyrannical version of herself is some wonderfully juicy character work, both from the perspective of fleshing out Otho AND being additive to Superman’s roster of villains; that’s something I love about PKJ’s approach to world building overall. Yes, he’s revamped some of Superman’s established bad guys (Metallo, Mongul) but he’s also added awesome new foes, like Norah Stone, and Pyrrhos.

I really hope DC lets him do like. A mini series on his original Kryptonian/House of El characters. I would honestly love to read about all these cool new, additive elements, than deal with the Luthor cameo fest over in Superman rn. XD

In conclusion: DC once again shying away from anything interesting and new with Superman in favor of the safe status quo. -_- I mean, I hope I’m wrong. I hope the new ‘Superman Superstars’ opt to build on the solid foundation PKJ has set up. But given what happened with Bendis? Creators’ absolute refusal to incorporate any of the canon he built, because they knew DC would walk it back ASAP? (And the Superman group editor openly admitting that was his number one priority as soon as he GOT THE JOB???) Just shows a complete lack of faith in your creators, and doesn’t really give me too much hope for one of the few remaining titles I look forward to each month.

…but hey, hopefully Marilyn Moonlight will be neat??? XD

Stargate rewatch: 1x07 The Nox

aka Space Pacifists.

“We've already visited 19 separate worlds." EXCUSE ME?!?! Abydos, Chulak, Mongol planet, planet where Sam "drank the stuff", The Land of Light, UV planet, blue crystal planet, and that's just SG-1. I'm being generous and not counting any of the home planets they sent the refugees from CotG back to, but that only leaves 12 planets for all nine SG teams to have visited offscreen in the months before this? Even taking into account that not all of them may be exploration teams, this is stretching credulity. Was this episode meant to be earlier in the season?

Daniel and Sam are back in their helmets - maybe this was meant to be placed earlier.

Why did the Nox cloak the Stargate in the first place if they want to be left alone?

This episode was written by Hart Hanson, who would go on to create/exec produce Bones. It was his only Stargate script.

By a galactic coincidence, Apophis is also looking for the invisibility hummingbird at the very same time SG-1 is - but it kind of works, Apophis has had a First Prime rebel against him, he’d be afraid of looking vulnerable to the other system lords and is in need of an advantage over them.

Watching these episodes in HD you can really see how much everyone is just acting though the Vancouver rain. Look at poor Chris Judge’s head!

Daniel is all in a tither wanting to capture Apophis - it’s the first real mention we’ve had of Sha’re and Skaara in several episodes. He’s the one pushing for it - when things get Personal for Daniel he gets fixated and while he marshals his arguments, they’re coloured by emotion.

Jack by contrast keeps it tampered down - but he wants to be convinced and in the end quite easily is, importantly with Teal’c’s support (which isn’t given without bias either). Sam is the only one with reservations.

I think this is the first time we see Daniel actually fire his weapon. Doesn’t hit anything though.

Apophis personally takes out Jack, Sam, and Daniel, which is kind of badass. He’s a Goa’uld who leads from the front lines.

That’s death no. 2 for Daniel so far.

“Dal shakka mel - I die free.” This will become a mantra for Teal’c and the Free Jaffa moment, although they later change the Goa’uld version to Shal’kek nem’ron.

Jack and Sam both sniff the fruit the Nox give them, and Jack gives it a little buff before taking a bite. Sam doesn’t actually seem to eat it, and Daniel’s too distracted trying to communicate to do anything but hold it.

“You attacked them.” I love Lya so much, and she had their number here - it’s a good setup because absent of context it does look like SG-1 was trying to kill Apophis without provocation, and the Nox have good reason to be wary of them.

“We just wanted to take him back to our world to have a little chat with him about all the nasty, bad things he’s been doing.” I love RDA’s delivery of this. And Daniel, echoing the bad, looking pretty murderous, seeing as Apophis has been doing those bad things to his wife. I do appreciate that Shanks commits to playing the subtext around Sha’re even when it isn’t explicit in the dialogue.

Great dynamic between Teal’c and Shak’l - he could not be the mentor Bra’tac was for him, and created a rival rather than an acolyte.

Aw, Jack still getting jittery about weapons around kids.

“Knowledge takes time, and over the years we teach the young to be wise.” Daniel trying to get information out of grandpappy Nox but not really hearing what he’s saying - that knowledge must be learned, not simply told. This is the arc for Daniel over the whole series and particularly around his later ascension - at this stage he wants to absorb as much information as he can, without really understanding it.

Daniel wearing gloves most of this episode again when no one else seems to be.

Great scene between Jack and Anteaus as well - Jack’s frustration comes from a good place, but it’s misguided and paternalistic.

I love the faerie, wood-sprite aesthetic of the Nox, especially this branch/flower arbor.

LOL Sam kicks one of the Jaffa right in the crotch. And due to a continuity error, we see it twice!

Daniel then shoots the Jaffa with a staff weapon - unclear whether or not he dies (if so I guess the Nox bring him back to life). But it’s not as if this is the first time Daniel has killed, he offed at least one Jaffa in the movie, so I guess he’s a better shot with the staff weapon than a handgun.

“The very young do not always do as they are told.” This might as well be the show’s tagline.

Interesting that we’ve had two cautionary tales so far, to ensure the show isn’t always in favour of US imperialising all over the galaxy.

Sg Wheeljack, Sg Beachcomber, and Sg Blaster killed sg Chromedome right? To protect the factions and to protect Sg Rewind.

What if he survived and actually looking for revenge and try killing them by putting them in an deadly escape room BUT the accidentally took the OGs. So the Shattered Glass versions are racing to find them before it’s too late and Sg Rewind kills Sg Chromedome once and for all. This time he stays dead.

I was going to say that he'd be more clever than the OG Chromedome (*waves at Overlord*), but grabbing the OGs instead of the SGs seems par for the course. XD

There’s a careful and non-rushed approach to a lot of these songs, like on “Oh Laura” and “Epiphany.” A lot of space for sure. “Oh Laura” is different to the rest of the album in a lot of senses. There’s a lot of playing with space and lack of sound, in a way that a lot of my favorite ‘80s pop music does.Between the front half and second half of the album there’s a lot of exploring. While the front half is exploring the toxic rush of emotions with a relationship, there’s still pleasure in that version, in the same way that there’s still toxicity in the second half of the album’s theme. In “Another Life” and “Fever Dreamer” especially I wanted to explore this. If it was all just bad then you wouldn’t find yourself in that position. There has to be something that draws you into that kind of version. Nothing’s perfect — so the record carries that theme throughout.You didn’t completely go solo on this record. We still get some of that classic SG magic collaboration, like with Tove Lo for instance. How is it working with her? We really just became fast friends. She’s an unbelievable person and artist. She’s someone who is in full control of her voice and her pen. It’s so much easier to work together when you really connect.It’s super clear how well you two work together. Fans are already craving more from you two. When’s the Tove x SG album dropping? We know the fans are asking for it. We both have been touring a lot and schedules have been crazy, but we both love working together and I’m absolutely sure this is not the end of our collaborative partnership. I’m sure there can be more in time.Another standout collaboration on this new record is “Fever Dreamer” with Channel Tres and Charlotte Day Wilson. Tell us a little bit of how that one came to be. Charlotte is amazing and obviously I've worked with Channel before. I’ve been a fan of Charlotte for a minute, she’s super talented. I love that she writes, produces and sings. She really is kind of like a Swiss Army knife of musical talent. We had a verse and pre-chorus done in the studio with Charlotte and then she had to go. I was working on the track the next day and Channel was working in the same studio and stuck his head in. He was like, “Oh, what are you working on?” I had a whiteboard, I told him I was finishing the album. He said, “What, I’m not on the album?” Obviously, I’d have Channel on every track. He improves basically every record he’s on. I played him what we had of “Fever Dreamer” and he was like, “Cool, done, let’s do it. His delivery is amazing and oozes confidence. If you’ve seen him live, he’s an unbelievable performer. I’m happy to have hooked up with him again.I love hearing those magical studio situations where things just naturally work out like that. Major! I’m kind of always working on stuff. With the Tove stuff, I had the idea of “Call On Me” mostly done. I had the rough instrumental. Then it’s only when you get in the room and start working on it that the rest of the idea formulates. There’s something about the chemistry of being in the room with somebody as opposed to just sending things back and forth.That’s so evident in the work you've done with other artists — specifically with Dua Lipa and Jessie Ware, who are adored by gay fan bases. Are you aware of the impact that you’ve had among the gay community who support you and your work?The support from gay audiences has been one of the most rewarding things about releasing music for me. The strength and support that they have shown me and my music is amazing. With times, I made an album that was influenced by disco music. Disco music has always been about creating safe spaces for marginalized communities to celebrate their identities. So for me to be able to create those similar safe spaces in a modern context where marginalized gay communities can come celebrate themselves — that, for me, is one of the most fulfilling things I can do with my music.The other thing with gay audiences is that they study pop music in the same way I do. We have that same shared passion for pop music. They care about who's on the production credits, who's written it, even who the management companies are. They’re so dialed-in — we share that kind of music nerd mentality. That eye for detail for music. I think that’s something we have a bond over as well. Without the support of gay audiences, I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am right now.We absolutely love to hear it — thank you for acknowledging. Is that the trajectory?I haven’t taken a moment to pause, mostly because I find it quite difficult to pause. I thought after this new album campaign that I would feel like taking a break, but I already know what I want to do next. As long as I know what I want to do next and as long as it remains fun, then I don’t see any reason to slow down. If there comes a moment where I feel like I’m making music because I feel like I have to, then that’ll be when I stop. I scratched that itch of wanting to be more introspective with this record, so now I’m like, It’s time to go produce some music with some pop stars and make some escapist music.The fun part of my job is that I get to wear many different hats. I usually pay very little attention to JP albums cause they mostly remixes. -i want the events in cybertron not earth because im tired of every transformers show being on earth

-i want to see character before the war like megatron,orin pax, starscream and more i want to see what were they doing before the war and thire views

-i want to see how megatron started the deceptcions movement and gained his followers

-how the war started we all know how the war started in transformers but i want to see it from the shattered glass perspective and why those character join this faction

-character development i want the characters to have personality not just a good/evil version of thire counterpart i want reasons on why they become the way they are and what are they fighting for i want sg megatron be more than just a good version of megatron and the same with optimus i want to know why he's like that and how did he become a prime

-the characters desgins should be original it will be cool if they do a new desgins only for the shattered glass not using just g1 desgins and change colors or use other desgins from the shows like unicron trilogy

-a good budget and animation will be nice im not asking for something mindblowing but not something cheap

Honestly just so much about SG Soundwave he was a delight in the comics that I read and his dynamic within the SG decepticons is so cool

More of SG Starscream doing science shit. We're always told many versions of Starscream are scientists but we never see much of it

In the comics I read it was in the tail end of a lost war, so in my opinion I think if we get a SG show it should actually be towards the beginning if not exactly the beginning! You want your when/how/whys, that feels like the place to start: the beginning and a little bit before it.

If we get SG Rodimus I hope it would be either modeled off of his blueberry emo phase in LL with red optics or if we get his SG comics look we see him applying the "facial hair" paint in a scene. I will never hesitate to make fun of his sharpie beard, and if we ever got a show with SG Rodimus in it with it I hope it gets to make fun of it too.

I'm actually here for a SG show being a little more lighthearted than SG tends to be, because of our dear friend shenanigans.

again SG Megatron. I love what I've seen of his design in the comics I read and think it can be navigated into a new one inspired by it pretty good. I think Megatron looks so interesting with blue optics. His personality is always interesting. Having him as arguably the main character of this would be lovely. And I'm a Megatron simp sue me.

Fandom: Stargate SG-1 Characters: Jack O’Neill, Samantha Carter, Teal’c, Jonas Quinn, George Hammond Challenge Day Number: 4 Prompt: “Our family has a Halloween tradition where we...” Warnings/Notes: None Summary: Jack and Sam teach Teal’c and Jonas about Halloween Word Count: 1802 Author’s  Notes: Hey I actually did a fic for this this time... And I’m almost caught up on days! Please enjoy :) Masterlist

           Sam walked into her office, coffee in hand, to meet back up with Jonas. He had been listening to The Weather Channel, as usual, while helping her look over some of the EMF-generating items their team had brought back from P5M-557. A fascinating find from an archeological dig that the locals had been doing, but the design did not look to be of the Goa’uld origin they had expected. They only had these items for a week, with the promise to return them to 557 once they had finished looking them over.

           Jonas, however, had stopped looking at the item that he was holding. Instead, his eyes were fixed to the screen, which was showing video footage of a Halloween event at a school and rattling off the expected weather for trick-or-treating. Sam smiled to herself, amused by how in awe he was of all the goings-on of a world he never really got to see.

           “Whatcha looking at?” She asked as she set the coffee down in front of him.

           Jonas took a moment to shake the startled expression off his face. “What are all of those kids doing.”

           Sam studied the screen a moment before answering. “Looks like a school Trunk-Or-Treat event.” When he looked confused, she continued. “On Earth, we have a holiday called Halloween. Every year, kids get dressed up in different costumes and go house to house collecting candy.”

           “Why would they do that?”

           “It’s just a part of the holiday… Well, in the United States at least. I’m not sure if other countries do the same.”

           Jonas looked back to the television for a moment before asking his next question. “How did that start?”

           Sam drew air in through her teeth. “That’s a Daniel question, I’m not sure.” She paused for a moment, her heart lurching at his memory. She shook it off before he could notice. “But I do know it’s been a tradition here for a long time.”

           “Huh.” Jonas kept looking to the screen like he was waiting for something else to come up about the holiday.

           Sam thought a moment, tilting her head. “I’ll be right back. You keep working.”

           Jonas looked to the item in his hand as if remembering it was there. “Oh. Right, sure.”

           Sam knew where she could find Jack this time of day. Conveniently, it was in the place that she thought would be best to start to get this idea going.

           “Colonel,” she greeted when she walked to his table in the middle of the mess hall. He nodded back in greeting, as his mouth was full of pumpkin pie.

           “Finally finished with your research, I take it?”

           “No, sir, just taking a break. Actually, there’s something that I think you will want to be a part of.”

           “What’s wrong?” His face had turned serious.

           “No, nothing! Just a bit of fun.”

           He looked at her quizzically. “I think you and I have established before that we have very different definitions of the word ‘fun’.” He put air quotes around the word before dunking his fork back into the pie.

           “What about pumpkin carving? That sound fun enough?”

           He stopped with the pie mid-way to his mouth. “Carter, are you alright? I think you should go down to the infirmary and get checked for a stoke.”

           She dipped her head down with a smile before laughing out. “I’m fine, sir?”

           “Haven’t been replaced with a version of you from another reality? No snake in the head?”

           “No, sir.” She laughed again. “Jonas was asking about Halloween, and I thought it would be nice to show him something.”

           “Ah.” He said before he resumed eating his pie again.

           “If you don’t want to join us, that’s fine. Just thought I would offer an invitation and ask that you help me track down some pumpkins.”

           “Oh, I’ll be there. If for no other reason than to see you actually doing something fun.”

           She smiled. “Thank you, sir. You finish that, I’ll go see if there are any pumpkins back in the kitchen.”

           “Well, don’t take too many. You know how much I like this pie!” He called after her as she walked away.

           It turned out the mess hall did not, in fact, have any pumpkins. Jack was mildly disappointed to hear that the pie he loved so much came from a can. He had shrugged it off, offering to leave the base to get some pumpkins and fresh air. Sam took that time to gather all of the knives they might need out of the armory and kitchen. When Jack returned, she had met him top-side with a cart they could use to bring them in, earning them both strange looks from the SFs guarding the entrance to the base.

           General Hammond had an even more curious look on his face when the elevator opened to Level 19 and he saw them there – Jack in his civilian clothes, and a cart of their supplies between them.

           “Major, Colonel. You know we do have a mess hall, you don’t need to do your own grocery shopping.”

           “Yes, sir, but it was an emergency situation.” Jack answered with a smile.

           “It was, was it?”

           “Oh yes. Carter here is having fun,´ he jested, earning him a pointed look from Sam.

           “I see,” Hammond couldn’t suppress his laugh. “Well, then, don’t let me stop you.” He gestured for them to pass him.

           “Thank you, sir.” Carter said as they wheeled away their supplies.

           They parted ways for Jack to head to the locker room and change into uniform. Sam made her way to B-3, where Jonas was sitting surrounded by some of Daniel’s books. She stopped in her tracks for a moment, thinking of how much Daniel would have appreciated this – teaching someone from another planet a little bit of Earth culture. Maybe that was why she was so set on doing this.

           She composed herself, smiling as she got Jonas’s attention. “Looks like you’re having fun.”

           Jonas looked up blankly. “Oh, hey. Yea, this whole idea of Halloween is fascinating.” His brows pulled down when he noticed the cart she was pulling. “What’s all this?”

           “Well my family – and other families, actually – has a Halloween tradition where we carve pumpkins with faces and put them outside with candles in them. They’re called Jack-o-Lanterns.”

           “I read about that briefly a little bit ago.”

           “I thought maybe we could make some.” She smiled brightly at him.

           “Yea, sure. What do you want me to do?”

           “Nothing until I get this all set up. Or until the others get here.”

           Jack walked into the room a couple minutes later and started helping Sam set up the area. He had also brought more coffee for the three of them, and another piece of pumpkin pie to munch on, claiming that he couldn’t stare at all of those pumpkins and not have pie to go with it.

           “Major Carter.”

           Sam turned to see Teal’c in the doorway of her office. “Oh, Teal’c, hey.” She took another pumpkin off of the cart.

           “Have you made any progress with the items from P5M-557?”

           “Not much yet, no,” she replied as she placed it on the work table with a thud.

           “Do you require my assistance?”

           “No. Well, yes, but not with the EMF research.” She held up the carving tools, smiling at Teal’c. “We’re going to be carving pumpkins, I thought you might like to join us.”

           Teal’c looked between the pumpkins and the carving tool with his classic one-eyebrow-raised look, and then looked back to her. “For what purpose?”

           “It’s just for fun. Jonas was asking about Halloween, and I thought we would show him one of the more popular traditions.”

           He paused for a moment. “I see,” he said in a way that clearly said he did not see the point.

“C’mon, T. It’ll be fun.” Jack encouraged, already having too much fun linking markers into a chain and moving it around like a sword.

Teal’c looked as amused at the sight of Jack as he ever did. “Very well.” He tilted his head to Sam before taking a seat at the work bench.

           While Sam and Jack finished clearing the desk and setting everything up, Jonas rattled all of the information that he had learned off to Teal’c. He went through the information Sam had given him and what he had learned from Daniel’s books. Jack chimed in now and then with his half-assed explanations for the things the two still didn’t understand.

           While they all cut the tops off of their pumpkins and scraped out the insides, Sam started explaining the process of how to make the Jack-o-Lantern to them. Jack, finding it way too technical, just told them to start drawing shaped that kind of made a face, and if they didn’t cut it exactly the same, oh well. Teal’c, as expected, took the instructions seriously, looking at Sam make hers before drawing on his own pumpkin, and keeping the cuts precise. Jonas took Jack’s approach, sticking to a more simple design.

           “How goes the decorating?” General Hammond was standing in the doorway, looking around at the lab.

           “Going great, sir.” Jonas turned his pumpkin so that the general could see his progress, smiling like a child showing their parent their art from school.

           “Very nice.” Hammond leaned a little to look at Teal’c’s, since he was so focused on his work he had not acknowledged Hammond.  “Usually I do this with my grandkids, but it doesn’t look like I will be making it home for that this year.|

           Jack noticed the solemn look on Hammond’s face and waved him into the room. “Why don’t you join us. There’s a few extra pumpkins here, though you might be competing with Teal’c for most complicated design.”

           Hammond chuckled, considering it a moment. “You know what? I don’t mind if I do.”

           Sam offered him a lab coat to cover his dress blues. It was a good thing, too, since the process of scooping out all the seeds left him covered in pumpkin guts. He laughed at himself, joking that this whole idea was going to cause them a hell of a time at the dry cleaners.

           After they compared their work, the Jack-O-Lanterns were placed back on the cart. Sam had wanted to keep them in the lab with her, until Jack reminded her that things tended to catch on fire or explode in her lab without the added element of candles. They decided it was best for them to be placed in Teal’c’s quarters since he already burned candles regularly for kel’no’reem. He took them gladly, smiling to himself as he found them all the perfect place among the rest of the candles and settled into his spot on the floor.

So many questions on how shattered glass sentinel prime would be. On one hand, some media portray him as a good guy, but dead. But in the other hand, I like the interpretations where he’s a jerk or fully evil. I just really like arty hobbitses interpretation of sentinel as this narcissist who mentored Optimus and saw him as a perfect son.

Would he even be alive in your interpretation?

Does he have a legacy of being a patriotic savior who’s actually a slaver/mass killer?

Okay so here's what I'm thinking.

The structure of prewar Cybertron would be kinda similar to the American government, as in they have the Senate and the Prime.

The Prime is SUPPOSED to be chosen by the matrix, but in reality, the Senate has been choosing Primes for as long as they've been in power.

Cause, the Prime is about the only person who can call them out on their BS, and they don't want that.

So, by controlling the Prime, not only do they give themselves complete executive power, but they also gain the social backing of what is basically divine right. So, if you want to be Prime, you either need to be very cowardly, or very stupid. Or both

Sentinel Prime, however, is neither. He's plenty cunning, and he's not afraid of doing whatever it takes to achieve his goals. As a highborn noble, he's been groomed since birth to become Prime. He knows exactly what the Senate wants to see, and he has no problem showing it to them.

Beneath the Primely surface however, he isn't too keen on the figurehead nature of his position, so he starts to sow the seeds of dissent against the Senate. Perhaps by funding a certain anti-functionalist rebel group? (Not to say that he plans on supporting them long term. They're far too egalitarian for his tastes. But, once the Senate has been... eliminated, what better way to assure the populous of his supreme power than annihilating a dangerous terrorist organization? It's a win two fold!) All anonymously, of course. Like I said, he's smart. He covers his tracks well.

But not well enough.

And when the Senate catches wind of his plan to usurp them, well.

He's been Prime for quite long enough.

So they kill him. Plain and simple. And wouldn't you know it, there just so happens to be an easily manipulated, wided eyed traditionalist sat on the right hand side of the Deception's leader. Destabilizing rebel forces, as well as eliminating traitors? (More on that plot here)

....It's a win two fold.

I don't think Sentinel would ever have a chance to one on one interact with Optimus, since he goes from middle class enforcer to Decepticon leader pretty fast. But, Optimus is definitely enamored with him. Major hero worship. It's one of the main points of contension between him and Megatron, who can see the Primacy for the absolutist autocracy that it is. I love love love that evil dad headcanon of him, but I just don't think I could fit it in with the circumstances of the AU already.

How do you think SG Overlord would feel if he ever ended up meeting regular Overlord?

SG!Overlord would get BULLIED

Timid? Gentle? Soft? He’s pathetic! Running away from Megatron because a little too much energon was on his servos? Uncomfortable at the prospect of fighting? Primus, this is him from another universe? What an insult. Overlord would be sickly humored by his pink counterpart, but at the same time, pretty insulted. SG!Overlord is everything he’s against. He’s a pacifist, hates the war, doesn’t have a desire to kill Megatron… really, the only thing both of them could agree on is that they went though a lot of abuse when they were with the Decepticons. Theoretically, they’d be able to bond over that (Overlord would learn that he had it better than his SG self); but that would require Overlord to want to spend the time listening to a version of him he sees as a total joke.

It would be a bad idea to fight him though, because I like to think that SG!Overlord is actually stronger than him. Perhaps not by much, but due to the somehow rougher training he went through, he’d be able to take him on and win. The only problem is that he’s way out of his game, and wouldn’t dream of hurting anyone anymore! But if he was driven to it… that’s another story. Overlord is brutal, but there was a time when SG!Overlord was nothing but a weapon.

Also lord forbid Overlord learns he’s into origami because he’d tear all of that UP just to watch him cry 😂 who cares if there’s deeper meaning to his hobby? It’s just stupid paper!
