Derek ignored the shouts of his name from his fellow teammates as he ducked beneath the yellow police tape, along with the curious glances people threw his way as he stalked towards the building with purpose. Once inside, he thoroughly checked every room he passed by, stopping only when he spotted the familiar figure sitting on one of the chairs in the pantry.

"Derek? What are you—"

You didn't get a chance to finish your question before Derek was enveloping you in a bear hug.

A wave of calm instantly flooded over his entire being. Derek buried his face deeper into you, breathing in the smell of your body wash and the addictive tang of your perfume. Your own arms wrapped around his muscular frame once the shock evaporated, letting the warmth of Derek's body seep into you as you listened to the rhytmic beating of his heart.

"All thanks to you, Derek." You smiled. "I wouldn't have known what to do if you didn't warn me beforehand. We're all safe because of you."

Derek's heart sat fifty pounds heavy inside his ribcage. Before he could pull you back towards his chest, an interrupting cough sounded from behind him. Derek turned around to see Rossi standing in the doorway.

"Everything alright in here?" the older agent asked.

"Everything's fine," Derek replied. "Rossi, this is (Y/N). She works here."

Rossi wasn't blind. He knew you meant something more to Derek despite the younger man introducing you as an employee of the daycare center where all of you were standing in. Nonetheless, Rossi made no mention of it as he shook your hand and offered you his name.

"Are you the one who called 911, Miss? Can you tell us anything about the man who did this?"

"Yeah, I did. I've told pretty much everything to the officer over there," you said, pointing to the uniformed policeman standing outside in the hallway. "It was before lunch, so the kids were having outdoor playtime. One of the kids, George, suddenly came crying to me about someone being hurt. His hands were red. It looked like blood at first, but after a closer look, I realized that it was paint. That's when I told everyone to gather inside."

Rossi jotted down everything you said in his little notepad. "And that's when the man barged in?"

"Yeah. He tried to go through the front door at first and became aggressive when he noticed it was locked. I called 911 after that. He just barely managed to break down the back door when the police finally got here."

"And then he fled the scene," Rossi concluded. You nodded your head in confirmation. "Same MO as the school and the orphanage. This is definitely our guy."

"Did you happen to get a look at his face, sweetheart?" Derek asked.

"I, uh, I think so? But everything happened so fast, I don't know if my memory is reliable."

"You should still sit down with our sketch artist, Miss. We'll take any help we can get," Rossi responded.

For the next hour, Derek proceeded to investigate the crime scene with his team while you sat inside with a sketch artist who brought your hazy memory of the perpetrator's face to life. Derek eventually reunited with you again on the front porch of the daycare, approaching just in time to see you bidding a goodbye to one of the kids you were caring for.

"Can I get a one? And a two! A three? How about a four? Now a five! And a high five!" The little girl in front of you laughed wholeheartedly as she gave you a high-five. Derek's chest constricted at the sight. "Good job, Bee! Now, go to your mother. I'll see you soon, okay?"

11. What do Javi and Osita admire the most about each other?

Javi: He honestly admires everything about her- Her independence, her compassion, her strength, her humor, she is truly unlike anyone else he's ever met and he loves everything that makes her the person that she is. While he obviously thinks that she is physically beautiful, he thinks that her personality is the most beautiful thing about her 😭

Osita: She loves how caring and compassionate Javi is. She's never had anyone treat her the way that Javi does, and the fact that he is so thoughtful and kind to her makes her heart melt into a million pieces. She also loves the fact that he's brave and headstrong (even if it means they butt heads because these two are stubborn peas in a pod) 🥺

22. How does the other know that they're horny/want to have sex?

Javi: He can tell Osita's in the mood whenever he catches her trying to sneak glances at him while he's not looking, and then is just smirking around the house. She'll be walking around trying to hide it, and when Javi asks what's got her smiling like that, she'll try and shrug and be like "I don't know what you're talking about", even though they both know damn well what's got her all giddy.

Osita: As if Javi wasn't already the most handsy man alive, when he's horny his hands are ALL over her- he is like a magnet, constantly touching her whenever he can not only because he loves it, but because he knows how riled up it gets her, too 🤪

2. What's my favorite drabble from the NTL universe?

Either Take Me Home (where Javi picks up Osita from a girls night out at the bar and she's hammered) because I think it shows the dynamic of their relationship so well (and it makes me laugh), or You're My Home (Osita and Javi fight all week and it blows up in their faces, until Osita realizes Javi is so worried from things happening at work and has a panic attack and she calms him down) because I feel like it's the most real and raw- we get so much cute and happy Osita and Javi that it was kind of refreshing to write something that was angsty bc even our two faves aren't perfect 🥹

What do I picture Osita looking like?

Light from the TV casts light through the dark of the living room and across your and Levi’s faces.

His eyes are on the screen, but the screen might as well be dark, and he might as well be alone. His ears idle, twitching lazily.

It’s been one year, almost, since you’ve shared your home with him… but maybe half that since he warmed up to the idea of someone caring about him without—conditions. Someone who wants him not for a fetish, or a pet, just...

You giggle at something on the screen and he blinks out of his stupor, eyes darting around to make sense of whatever just happened.

Usually, he wouldn’t care so much.

“Levi, Do you wanna put on something different?”

“Why?”

You turn sheepish. “It doesn’t seem like you’re… having fun.”

“No,” he replies, a little too fast. “I am. Having fun.”

His stomach drops when you pause it, then push your blanket off.

For some time he’s reverted into isolating his personal space. It’s not like he is the most affectionate of his kind (he learned not to be, because owners never shared Levi’s more innocent intentions), but the distance, despite how much he craves it, is safe. He has disciplined himself to not need to rub up against you, and to not be tricked into feeling protected when you say what you say and do what you do.

“Are you okay?” A warm palm comes up and settles on his cheek, but he turns away, fluffed ears flattening.

This is bad. You got onto him a little this morning because he had been cleaning so damn much that his hands were starting to turn red, and blister. Now he is worse, acting out again.

He knows you’re not cruel, never, and he knows you know him well enough to tell when he’s stressed, but not what about. When will you hit your breaking point?

Then you reach up and pet down his low ears, and it instantly calms him so that he flinches away. His tail bristles.

“Going to bed.” Levi forces the words out and shoots up before you can say anything else.

You share a bed, but there is a guest bedroom he used to use, and has gotten into the habit of using again since he realized what day was coming up. On the first night, you peeked in and asked if he was alright, and Levi said fine, he was alright. He was fine.

He gets it, that he is neglecting giving you the attention you always give him. At least half of the reason he has been working so hard around the house is to compensate for that.

(His kind aren’t allowed… jobs, in the conventional sense, and you work hard.)

Under the duvet, his cheek pressed to a cool pillow, he curls up and feels the darkness eat at him. He doesn’t feel like anything more than a bad emotion. He has been bad, by all accounts. Bad and bad and bad.

A solid knock on the door at some point in this strange stream of time jolts him even though he wasn't sleeping.

Light from the hall darkens your visage when you peek in. “You didn’t have any dinner, want me to make you something?”

His chest twists violently, and so he rolls over to face the wall. His mouth feels like a desert.

“Not hungry,” he replies. He isn't.

“Okay.” It sounds like you're letting him down gently. “See you in the morning, baby.”

“…’night.”

The next morning, Levi wakes up early to the heat pelting off his skin, suffocated by the blankets.

With a raspy grunt he kicks them off, rolls onto his belly, and shoves his face in the rumpled pillow. He rubs his cheek into it madly, at random, for something, but in his fog he only smells detergent and faint traces of his own shampoo. A keening noise vibrates his throat.

He shoves himself up into a sit, and nudges his legs together. A grimace twists his expression.

His heat isn’t here, not quite yet, but he feels the haze in the outskirts of his mind, that faint buzzing creeping down his limbs.

Where are you? part of him whines, then remembers.

Cursing, standing, Levi manages somehow to fly through his morning routine and bolt downstairs. At this time, you won’t be awake yet, so he can make breakfast before his heat starts, and then lock himself away in the guest bedroom, or even better, a closet.

He has faced all his heats up until a year ago alone, or as alone as he could get. One more wont kill him, but it will be fucking agony.

Morning light glides over his hands as he starts up coffee for you, and then pulls out the kettle for his tea. That (so soon) is when his limbs grow languid and heavy, and he has to stop at the counter to brace himself.

A pinched sense of longing sits in his chest. He closes his eyes.

The soft, even steps descending the stairs doesn’t register until it is too late, and there you stand in the doorway, watching him with a troubled look that tugs your lips down.

His shoulders hunch. “Go away.”

You say his name full of tenderness. All you offer him is that care.

He’s already weak, weak for you, when you approach and your arms come up around his waist from behind. It is like being swallowed. What does he do?—How does he escape?

Your head drops on his shoulderblade, massaging the other side in soft motions, and he melts with a swallowed mewl. Heat is so fucking close he can taste it.

You notice. “Do you really want me to go away?”

He swallows hard. By your calf, his tail twitches, even though his ears lay flat. You take that as an answer.

“Why’re you pulling away so much, hm?” You sway gently. “You know… the bed’s been cold without you; I miss you. Tell me what I'm doing wrong, and I’d do better for you. I want you to be comfortable.”

He shifts, almost squirming. My bed has been cold, he wants to say. Make me stop.

“You haven’t been keeping track,” he manages.

“Keeping track...?”

His jaw moves helplessly as your hand follows down his spine, and massages the small of his back. He’s craving, but he doesn’t know what. An inevitable tell for his heat incoming.

What if you’re bluffing? he can't help but think, despite himself. What if the paperwork just hasn’t arrived yet, and you forgot?

His ears lay flat and firm, like downturned airplane wings. “A year. Since you’ve had me. Did you really not know that’s when you can get rid of me for free?"

The adoption program, it allows a certain trial period around the first year mark. Before that, and after, you would have to pay to get rid of him.

In the past, his owners didn’t wait that long, but you aren’t that wealthy, which he liked about you from the start. That is also what makes this terrifying.

The air is eerily still for too long. He pants and squirms harder, caught between the urge to escape and fall right into you. Are you shocked?—Or caught in the deceit?

“If you're sick of me—”

“Levi—”

“—just say that.”

“Levi.”

That tone. He freezes.

You sigh. Instead of letting him go, you squeeze him to your front and kiss his hairline, then his cheek. “What in the world made you think I was sick of you?”

His jaw locks and jams, teeth grinding from the fear-feeling up high in his chest. It’s hard to think.

“Didn’t,” he whispers.

He is so afraid, because he has never been wanted for this long. Being kissed at breakfast and indulged by buying teas, and being allowed to hold and be held after fucking.

But it has never felt that way with you, either. You make it so scary in a way he can’t get enough of.

You kiss his hair and ask, “Why’re you so afraid?”

He finds himself rendered mute, like his tongue has gone too swollen for him to say a single word. Mind blank.

He whines instead, rubbing back against you; his heat is almost on top of him now.

“Poor baby… I’m not leaving you, Levi. That's the last thing I want.”

“I…” He leans into the warm kisses pelting his neck. “What’s the first thing?”

“Your heat’s about to start,” you say into his jaw, warm fingers prodding up underneath his sweater. “What do you think?”

“Please—make me stop, just.”

“Then c’mere.” You pull on him. “Come with me.”

So since the thing I wanted to do for today still isn't done 😔😔😔 I just wanted to drop in and say happy birthday to one of my favourite series I've ever read. And to thank you for creating it too, of course.

I genuinely love every single word and scene from it, I think about it all the time too. So many things will remind me of it - art, flowers, songs... the word angel... and I'll just find myself thinking about them. Thinking about their video calls while Jungkook was away 🥺🥺🥺 thinking about the body painting scene 😫😫😫 thinking about the fact that they're still not together 😭😭😭 I just honestly love them so damn much!!!

I really wish that my full love letter was done in time, but I'm really excited to finish it! I have some of my motivation back though and I'll even work on it some tonight!! It requires me rereading cmi again and I swear every single time I read it, I find new things to marvel at. New paragraphs to read over and over, new scenes that make me blush and smile so wide, all while having a feeling of familiar comfort at the same time. Here's what I'm currently working with:

It might already be at over 1k words with just a bunch of scrambled thoughts from my reread of the first chapter and some half baked ideas about the structure of it all 😅 We'll see how it will turn out though, we all know how much I like to ramble...

The apartment was always slightly chilly in the morning during this time of year. Derek could only smile at the sight of your figure in the middle of the bed, curled up inside the mess of sheets and blankets as if you were chasing whatever traces of heat you could unearth. His footsteps were discreet as he trudged deeper into the room.

"Morning, gorgeous," Derek murmured, sitting down on the bed before leaving a kiss on your temple. He saw you stir underneath him. "Gotta get going, baby. I'll see you at lunch, yeah?"

His last sentence caused you to open your eyes blearily, frowning in confusion when you took in Derek's attire. "Where are you going?"

"You don't remember? I told you last night." He chuckled. "The guys at Quantico's self-defense class asked me if I wanted to join them this morning. There's gonna be a spar."

Your frown only deepened after Derek's explanation. "You told me about this?"

"Yeah, gorgeous. Last night at dinner, remember?"

"No." You pouted. "Don't go."

Derek raised an amused eyebrow at your stern demand. "Don't go?"

"Stay with me. It's cold this morning. You need to come back to bed and cuddle with me to keep me warm."

"Is that so?"

You nodded your head earnestly, shuffling closer towards Derek until your face was pressed against his abdomen. Derek ran his fingers up and down your bare arm.

"C'mon, baby. I really need to go," Derek urged once more.

You only whined louder in protest before tightening your arms around his waist.

Derek sighed loudly. It was clear that you weren't going to yield any time soon, and frankly, his resolve was crumbling more and more with each second that your soft body spent wrapped around him. Without detangling himself from your arms, Derek reached into his pocket to pull out his phone, texting the other guys that he wouldn't be able to come and join them after all.

Once he tossed the device away, Derek manuevered your body until the two of you were lying side by side on the bed. A clear question mark danced on your face as you stared at him.

"Derek? What are you doing?"

"You said you wanted to cuddle."

Your eyes brightened in the aftermath of Derek's response. "You're not going?"

"Nope," he replied. "Thought about it and realized, why would I deliberately spend my morning getting kicked and punched when I can just spend it here with you?"

Your giddy smile was a breath of fresh air for Derek's lungs. You leaned closer and shoved your face into his chest, securing your arms around him until there was no definitive way to tell where either of you ended and began.

Derek kissed the top of your head, his heart heavy and full as he murmured, "I love you so much, baby."

The only response Derek received were soft snores slipping past your lips. He glanced down to see that you were once again fast asleep in his arms, lovely and peaceful as if you were a literal angel on earth.

Derek smiled.

He knew then, there was no other place in the world he'd rather be.

i don't think that malleus is that extroverted, but he would probably be a more assertive kind of introvert when you're around. and i think malleus is sort of.. "forced" to be an introvert? considering that he wants to socialize, make friends and attend parties and events, but he doesn't always have the opportunity.. also, he just gets that protective instinct when he sees you, so yeah, you're adopted now. about your texture issues, malleus would make sure to respect your boundaries and even though he would love to hug you/hold your hand/etc, he doesn't want to hurt you, so he will be careful! he can express his love for you in other ways too :) and he's not the loudest kind of person, so you don't have to worry about that either!

He wants to know you, you, and when that day finally arrives, when you're finally comfortable around him, he is elated and he bounces around like a little puppy. It drives the other members of Hellfire crazy with how he's jumping on and off tables. Listening to you talk is a highlight of his day, of his every day, and Eddie remembers absolutely everything you tell him. The TV show you just watched and didn't like even after four episodes, the book chapter which had you sobbing at three in the morning but laughing again an hour later, and anything and everything which crosses your beautiful mind. Eddie wants to know you and just as you grow more comfortable around him, he grows more comfortable around you at the same rate and he sheds his armour for vulnerability, matching you pace for pace. It's his way of thanking you for trusting him. You get worried and stressed easily and within only a few weeks of knowing you, Eddie knows all your tells and he's gonna be there as often as he sees you anxious, holding your hand or rubbing your shoulder, telling you stuff like, "it's okay, Y/N, I'm here" and "you got this, babe, facing all this is very metal" and "don't cry, Y/N, let me help you" and no matter what it is you ask for help with or whatever Eddie perceives you would be grateful to receive help in, he's there for you. You're not alone in any of it because Eddie is somehow always there before you even think to ask him. He's not perfect, of course, but he tries and that really really counts, especially when it needs to. You love laughing and hanging out with your loved ones and Eddie does too, he loves media as much as you do, and you definitely bond over books, music, chilling out together and making each other laugh so hard your cheeks and stomachs hurt but you wanna be like this, just like this, with each other forever.
