This is kind of a touchy subject but I'd like to get my thoughts on it out there and I'm going to try to do it like I think Beau of the 5th column on YouTube would.

So today we're going to talk about the LGBT+ Community, the lgb alliance, my perspective as an outsider looking in, and why I say the queer community

First of all I am an outsider looking in. I am a cis/straight person (as I have said in other posts) but I want to be an ally to those that fall under the umbrella term queer. Now I know that some hate the term queer because it has been (and still is in some homophobic/transphobic groups) used as a slur. I understand not liking the term on those grounds. The main use of the term nowadays though including within the LGBT+ community is as a blanket term for anyone in that community including; enbys, people who are asexual or aromantic and so on and thats how I use it. To me it brings a sense of togetherness which to me is what a community should be: people coming together and sticking up for one another. Making it an acronym makes sections, and sections can be removed. Which brings us to the LGB alliance and the drop the T movement which is exactly what it sounds like. Some lesbians, gays, and bisexuals want to distance themselves from trans people, enbys, and other gender nonconforming people as well as aces and aros. In other words, removing sections. I've been hearing a lot of LGB people saying the same things about trans and nonbinary people that homophobic groups have been saying about them for years. Which in the current political climate especially here in the US which reads as "Hey we'll let you go after these people. We'll even help you do it, as long as you don't come after us." At least thats how it reads from my perspective. I can guarantee that the people who hate the LGBT+ community won't stop hating the community as a whole just because the LGB drops the T. Trust me ive met enough of those people to know. Ive also been hearing about bi phobia within the queer community at large which to me reads as the classic "one or the other pick a side!" thing that straight people have said to bisexual people for years as well as people saying that asexual and aromantic people aren't a thing which doesn't make sense to because if there are people who feel sexual or romantic attraction to the opposite sex/gender or to the same sex/gender then logically there have to be some that don't feel sexual or romantic attraction to any sex/gender.

I'll end with this: if you're part of a large community with smaller sections throwing one or more of the smaller sections under the bus isn't going to stop the bus from running the rest of you over. It might not even slow it down.

Hargreeves sexuality and gender headcanons cuz I’m bored.

Luther-

I 100% believe he is CisHet but he is absolutely an ally. He probably didn’t understand everything at first but Viktor and Klaus helped explain and he got the gist of it. He also maybe uses He/They pronouns? He thinks They/Them just sounds nice.

Diego-

I know a lot of people think that Diego is a trans man and I think that would be cool (as a trans man myself) but I just don’t really see it. I kind of understand it but I don’t really agree. I definitely do think he’s Bi though, female leaning. Definitely He/Him.

Allison-

I also see lots of people thinking she’s a trans woman, and I think that’s a great headcanon imo but I again do not agree. I absolutely don’t see her as anything but Cisgender Heterosexual. And I honestly like it that way. I don’t think all of the Hargreeves siblings have to be LGBTQ+, I think some of them should be straight too. I think Allison might have messed around with girls but she just didn’t really feel a click like she does with males. She/Her.

Klaus-

I think most of us agree Klaus is not Cis or Straight. There is no way. I would probably say he is Non-Binary or Gender-fluid. He never heard those terms until they were a bit older, probably after Five disappeared, and the first time he heard it was someone shit-talking it, and they wanted to look more into it. So occasionally Viktor and Grace would be allowed to go to the library because Viktor usually didn’t have much else to do so Klaus asked him if next time he goes if he could look up those words for him and Viktor obviously said sure. He came back and told Klaus about it and Klaus was like, “yep, that’s me.” They were happy there was a word for it. I also think Klaus is Pansexual, but he also isn’t very fond of labels anyway. They honestly just think everyone’s hot (EXCEPT CHILDREN NOT CHILDREN). Any pronouns but mainly He/They.

Five-

I think Five’s above gender and stuff like that. When they were kids Viktor had a crush on Five and Five just found it disgusting. Partially because they’re like siblings but also because Five does not want a relationship or anyone to have a crush on him. Five also never liked gender roles and was confused why there were differences in the uniforms depending on gender. Five saw Viktor and Klaus wearing each others uniforms and was a little confused why Reggie wouldn’t just let Klaus wear what he wanted but also was kind of confused why Klaus even wanted to wear skirts. Five never really thought about gender much though because he thought it was incredibly stupid and useless. Five always thought that way. But especially whenever Five was in the apocalypse, he had absolutely no use for it. Five wishes that they didn’t live in a gendered society but he we are. If he has to use terms for himself, he’d say he’s Agender and AroAce (Yay AAA battery). Five doesn’t like using pronouns and prefers his name but if it’s mandatory Five uses He/Him pronouns but Klaus uses They/them for him cause he knows Five likes it.

Ben-

I don’t know enough about Ben to give a really detailed answer but I have a simple bit to say. I would like to think he’s Bisexual, but I don’t really think he is. I like the headcanon but again we don’t know enough about him. I think he’s Cis too but maybe DemiBoy? I’d probably say He/Him but maybe some neos?? I’m not experienced in them though so I don’t really know any he might use (I’m also talking more about Brellie Ben than Sparrow Ben).

Viktor-

I absolutely adore Viktor. I know lots of people thought he was a Lesbian before season three but no, that’s not the case. He actually liked Leonard/Harold. Before he found out about all the things Leonard did he actually liked him. And when he was younger it’s confirmed (I’m pretty sure??) that Viktor had a crush on Five. Viktor doesn’t only like females, he actually does like guys. I absolutely think Viktor is Bisexual, possibly Pan. I think he could also be on the Aspectrum maybe? But he definitely doesn’t only like women. I also thought he might have been Non-Binary before he transitioned but now I absolutely like him as just a trans man. He/Him maybe He/They and possibly neos?? Again I don’t know much about neos so.

My grandma throws herself into queer culture as it suits her interests. It may seem strange and fetishistic to people but if you really knew how she worked it's not. She's a cis het straight woman. Married to a man. Only been with men. Has had breast enhancements. But she's confided with me that she used to dress like a man in her youth and get mistaken for one. If she were born now she would choose to be a man. But that wasn't an option back then so she couldn't do it. And she doesn't want to destroy the life she has now to. Most of the "people"(dissociative) in her head are men and she openly talks about her "guys" she's functions with while maintaining her womanhood. This is the closest she'll get to it. She's talked about women in a queer way. She doesn't really trust or like most men. She doesn't under understand how sexuality and gender are different. She says things wrong all the time like referring to cis men as regular men. She was incredibly supportive of my top surgery and paid my insurance fees. She asks Innapropriate questions. She wants to know everything she can. She's queer. She's not. Not until she chooses to pick up that label. She is a loud ally who goes to events and gets maybe to excited. She's Innapropriate. She's supportive.

Something something how you shouldn't be too harsh on people who don't get everything right. Or make assumptions on their inner experience

gayle - she's a lesbian but she doesn't know that. she's cis but in an agender way <- does not follow up on this or explain myself at all

rudy - straight but possibly transfem in which case he'd be a lesbian. not sure. definitely has egg vibes

darryl - he's cishet </3 but his lovely girlfriend is bisexual so he's that type of guy who would be at pride anyway (does not clarify who his girlfriend is. doesnt matter)

teddy - bisexual and asexual bcuz @koko-raccoon helped me see the vision. he does not know asexuality is a thing. could see him as transmasc too for sure. also polyamorous but in a casual way its not something he'd actively seek out but he wouldn't mind being in a relationship with multiple people either (same w/ bob and linda) he's got such a big heart

mort - he's never labelled himself but i think he wouldn't question it if he was in a relationship with a guy or found himself attracted to one. he's easy. maybe he'd just label himself as queer

headcanon

as far as buck has always been concerned, they were a straight, cis guy. there was no reason for them to assume otherwise; they really liked girls, & most of their hobbies/extra curricular activities were fairly male-oriented.

but even so, very rarely did evan ever really consider their interests to be male focused. the skateboarding crowds almost always had a pretty even split between guys & girls, & there were plenty of female athletes he went to high school with that could easily hold their own on the football field if they ever chose to join in.

they were just the things evan liked to do, & they happened to be male.

plus, talk of anything queer-related wasn't exactly popular in the bland, mid-sized town of hershey, pennsylvania. especially in the 90's.

it isn't until they join the 118 & grow close with their teammates-- specifically hen-- that they're really introduced to the queer community/culture on a more serious level beyond just knowing someone who happens to be gay. (they've always been an ally, of course!) one day, during a random conversation with the rest of the team, someone across the loft made a comment along the lines of "act like a man", & buck's response to their little group was "you know, i never really understood that phrase. or even 'man up' or any of those phrases." meanwhile everyone else stares at them with various looks of confusion & amusement, before they continue on. "what does it even mean to 'feel like a man'- or a woman?"

the looks became even more confused, & perhaps a bit perplexed, but before anyone could really respond, the alarm goes off, disrupting any further reactions. bobby keeps the talk in the truck on the details of the call, making sure his team is focused & ready for when they arrive on scene. but that doesn't stop the looks shot in buck's direction, even if nothing is said.

on the ride back to the station, everyone is a little worn from the call, & buck is fidgety enough from everyone's earlier reactions that no one brings up the earlier conversation. at most, eddie's knee is pressed against their's, & hen has that sisterly look on her face as she watches buck the entire drive back.

back at the station, hen pulls buck off to the side & quietly suggests they look into the various concepts of gender identity-- "more specifically non-binary & agender, & you might find some answers you're looking for, buck."

jump forward to being back at their loft post-shift, & diving right into a new rabbit hole of research. two days, & a head-full of new knowledge, a few cryptic texts with hen (that they're pretty sure she could see through easily), & almost too much reflection later, buck feels like they've unlocked a part of theirself they didn't even know was tucked away.

those phrases & concepts never made sense sense to them because they've never actually connected with the traditional concepts of male vs female. they don't connect to any gender & are just buck.

non-binary. traditionally masculine aesthetic/presentation. primarily uses they/them pronouns, but is perfectly fine with any others being used by the firefam (but only the firefam, strangers & casual acquaintances better stick with they/them). & completely open to any & all possible petnames & nicknames including more feminine ones (again, only by the firefam & significant others).

Personality Headcanons: He hates tobacco. He hates it when people smoke around him. He's the kind of guy to put out your cigarette for you and you look up at him, thinking you're gonna fight some punk but quickly change your mind. His dad used to make him cut and light his cigars and he hated doing it so much he swore he'd never smoke. The hole that he sleeps in is deliberately cut, sanded, and reboarded. He nests in there. Probably Autistic and doesn't speak much around strangers. Will gladly infodump to his friends. He's in his mid-late 30s ~35-38. In addition to being part of TF4 he also works part time as a steam locomotive driver. After being tied to the train tracks, he kind of got curious about it. He can play an instrument, I'm just not sure which one. Probably a fiddle idk. Physical Headcanons: The tooth sticking out is a broken tusk. he desperately wants to grow facial hair, has tried, and cannot. He's very jealous of people who do have facial hair. ~6'05" Gender: Cis male Pronouns: He/Him Orientation: Straight He's a hardcore ally and loves going to pride events to support his friends. He thinks they're a lot of fun. Post Game: His life carried on fairly regularly afterwards, like Ace. I personally feel like he had more of a connection with Clover than the others though so, he was a little more impacted by their death. Sometimes he'll sit into the early morning with Starlo at the Saloon. Opinions: I'm bias. I heart large men so, points. I would have also liked to have seen more of him. One thing though is that on appearance alone I could so clearly hear his voice when he spoke. His design carries. 3.5/5.

Flowey

Personality Headcanons: Flowey is my favorite character in the Undertale franchise so I'm going to TRY to keep this short. As it stands, he's currently stuck at the maturity level he died at, so around 11-13. Since he doesn't have a physical body (other than a flower) he doesn't really age. I don't think he's a lost cause or even completely irredeemable. He's a terrified, traumatized, kid who's own parents don't recognize him anymore. He's had to try to navigate the world in a body that isn't his, completely alone. Sometimes when he goes through episodes he lies close to the ground to bite his petals and rip them off hoping that somehow it'll make room for his horns to grow back. He both despises his family for splitting up and ignoring him but wants nothing more than to be a family again. He has really conflicting feelings on a lot of things. I feel like if he went through extensive therapy his maturity would probably eventually catch up to what would be his chronological age if he wasn't a flower. He's touch starved but hates being touched. Probably has one or multiple personality disorders. Physical Headcanons: We get a side profile of his nose in his boss fight in neutral. I think that's a genetic trait from Asgore. Has freckles. Not much to headcanon since he's a Flower until the true ending of the OG UT when he ascends. Gender: He stopped giving fucks a long time ago. Pronouns: He/They (DESPISES being called an it) Orientation: Aroace. He's not necessarily repulsed but if asked if he has a crush on anyone he'd say "I'd rather watch someone be crushed to death than think ever think about dating." Post Game: N/A Opinions: I'm a die hard Flowey Apologist. He's such a deep, complex, and tragic character. I love him. I want to hug him. In this specific game too, wow, I love Flowey lore. Love Flowey angst. 5/5.

Martlet Personality Headcanons: Probably AuDHD. Definitely has racing thoughts / scatterbrain. Her first job was babysitting when she was a teen. She only barely got into The Royal Guard because they were desperate after losing a lot of good members in the war. She eventually proved herself to be a good member. Probably in her early 20s so ~21-23. Physical Headcanons: She's pretty buffed because of her job. ~5'10". I don't have too many. Gender: Trans Woman Pronouns: She/They Orientation: Multisexual of some sort with a preference for women. Also ambiamorous. Post Game: She quit her job at The Royal Guard, unable to really take the burden of having to kill a human child for the king. Chujin's words haunt her, what he said about her not being cut out for it. Instead she got a job as a classroom assistant. She bounces around the limited schooling system the underground has. So often times she gets a good reputation with the kids and will get to watch them grow up. Sometimes her job makes her think about how she could have done her best to hide Clover and watch them grow up too. She's a very emotional person by nature so, she would probably take the longest to really have it be in the past for her. But, she got right to *appearing* like she was moving on. By day it was like nothing had happened at all, she puts on a smile for the kids she helps out with, plays games with them. She's good at seeming okay but just shatters every night for a long time. Eventually (RAREPAIR), spending so much time with Dalv became beneficial for the both of them and they helped pull each other out of the rut. Opinions: I wish she had more screen time because she seems like a character the creators cared a lot about. She's very OC shaped and that's a good thing. I love when I can see the care that goes into a character. 4/5.

If one more person calls my dad an "egg" on the post about his take on gender neutral pronouns, I'm gonna start cracking HEADS. Y'all have GOT to let cis people be cool about gender without speculating that they're trans, or else, guess what? Fewer cis people are gonna be comfortable being cool about gender! Straight people were literally afraid to identify as gay (even just LGB!) allies when I was growing up because they were afraid people would think they were gay.

Also, for the record, speculating that a cis person is trans/nb IS misgendering. It DOES cause discomfort the way it causes discomfort when trans people are misgendered. When we say "trust people to be the experts on their own identity," it means we have to trust people who DON'T identify with a minority label, too.

And while we're at it, this goes for sexuality. Don't tell someone they have bisexual vibes if they haven't told you they're bisexual! Don't tell someone you think they're aromantic because they're not currently interested in dating!

I know, I KNOW you have a billion little microlabels that are very important and useful to you. But telling someone, unsolicited, "It sounds like you might be X!" is COMPLETELY inappropriate. Do not put labels on people that they haven't chosen for themselves!! If someone asks you outright for advice or help on defining their identity, cool. I'm glad they trust you with that. But if they haven't asked, regardless of how close you are or how certain you are that you have the magic label that would unlock the secrets of the universe for them, SHUT YOUR MOUTH. Don't tell them, don't talk about it to other people behind their back, don't even speculate in your own head!! THEY are the expert on their own identity, NOT YOU. Believe people when they tell you who they are.

Super Specific Linked Universe Headcanons Pt 1.

All of the Links are autistic but they all have wildly different ways of presenting it. Ask me about their special interests, please. Please.

Warriors is in his 20s. He is an Aquarius. I'm right.

Sky is the ultimate straight cis ally, but he has bi wife energy. He is best friends with Legend, and they're kind of inseparable.

Twilight is a taurus, he's cis and bisexual, but leans towards women and fem ppl (and too hung up to think about anyone but one woman)

Wild is taller than yall think, 17 or 117 whatever is more convenient for him, zelda told him his birthday is november 7th (scorpio, ofc) and he just accepts that.

Hyrule is pansexual (mostly cis but might be genderfluid, he likes to wear feminine clothes and makeup)

Four is like? 3'8, and he's 20 yo but most people don't believe him. He's a trans boy, and most of the colors are too besides vio, who I think is either genderfluid or pangender, uses all pronouns. Four is bisexual but leans towards guys, though he loves his Zelda.

Legend is 4'10, 17 yo, born december 14th at midnight. he is trans, any pronouns, and bisexual.

Ravio is same height and age as Legend, and they're both born on the same day but ravio was born at noon. This really bothers Legend, he wants his own birthday. Ravi loves it.

also ravio is gay, asian/latino, chubby and has the best smile <3

war is cis and bisexual but he leans towards women, I think he's aromantic but probably could be romantically involved with someone.

Times eyes are more gray than blue

Sky 9 times out of 10 has no clue whats going on. Stupid and confused, and its perfect.

Twilight always knows where all of them are, and I don't even know if it's just smell. He has mom instincts "where are my kids, what are they doing"

Wild got mad anger issues pls calm down babe. Kind of scary. He lets hyrule braid his hair sometimes.

Hyrules eyes are more green than blue, and he has freckles all over his face and body (jokes he ought to get a kiss for every freckle)

Whenever Wind gets mail from his little sister, he reads it to the group. He's very proud of her, and she's very proud of him. She has a bunch of big brothers now.

Four + the colors are white-asian mixed (or looks like it yk, bc he's hylian) his eyes are dark brown.

Legend goes non verbal a lot, esp when they're stressed, but when she talks, she talks. I mean, hand gestures, ranting, cussing, pointing, "and you a bitch, and you a bitch." favorite curse word is cunt.

warriors ruffle everyone's hair, and they all hate it (esp four and legend, who claims he's going to choke him with his own scarf)

Sky likes to sing and dance, and wishes more of them would dance with him.

Twilight has slept as a wolf so often that it's practically natural for him, he really prefers it. Also, he takes all of his nightwatch shifts as a wolf.

Wild will teach literally anyone about edible flora and mushrooms and such, and foraging around hyrule, if only they would listen. Sometimes talks random animals ears off about his favorite flavor combos. Sky loves to listen and ask questions.

Hyrule will hand his favorite people random stuff as "gifts" like feathers, flowers, rocks, dead bugs (he's obsessed with bugs, he loves them so so much and they're all his friends) his favorite animal is a bumblebee

i know we all agree wind swears likek a bloody sailor, bc thats what he is, but how about him using random shit for swears like, "crabs cankles," "bilge-sucking" or calling the others landlubbers. also feel like he'd be the type to say "bite me" when someone disagrees with him.

Four keeps a bunch of books in his bag, and if their reading is disturbed they all have different reactions. Blue pinches or glares, Vio ignores you unless she deems what youre saying important, red gets physically distressed, and green will actually tell you to be quiet. (blue pinches a lot actually)

Legend is a very picky eater, especially with textures, this pisses wild off (wdym you dont like it YOU HAVENT EVEN TRIED IT)

Sky's Zelda is a bisexual virgo, and she knows everything.

Malon makes very good bread. I want to shove that shit in my face ong. Also she insists on giving each of the boys big hugs when shes sees them.

Scott (he/him, cis) 

straight / biromantic

Scott strikes me as a man who would kiss his bros for fun, but doesn’t want a relationship with a man the same way he would with a woman. Hence, I mostly operate under the straight ally option for him, buuuut I can see him dating some men. 

John (he/him, trans man)

asexual, panromatic, polyamorous

For John, I really imagine him the kind of person that values the intimacy of a (small) group that can balance each other out. He takes comfort in his partners, and likes the “community” aspect of a closed poly relationship. 

Virgil (he/him, cis*)

bisexual, demisexual

Virgil loves very strongly and very widely, but also in an exclusive way. The emotional connection is super important to him, and though I can see him with a person of any gender, it would probably end up being just that person (for a good amount of time, at least)

(I do also love trans!virgil, too ^_^)

Gordon (he/him, cis) / (she/her, trans woman)

pansexual

Gordon as a trans woman means a lot to me, and I love the idea that her brothers would be so insanely supportive of her. She only discovered her transness properly in her adulthood (due to focus on getting results in swimming and ignoring other things), and the emotional journey that she goes through, rediscovering herself etc. just makes me really happy

Alan (he/they, nonbinary, demiboy)

gay

Alan is very much gay to me. I think that they would be a demiboy, and he would enjoy expressing gender in a way that isn't just traditionally masculine ways, but he knows that they definitely aren't a woman.

Kayo (she/her, cis)

lesbian / bisexual

Kayo just gives off really strong wlw vibes to me, but just like Scott, I can see her being attracted to men, but just not quite in the same way she would want a relationship with women or femininely aligned people

Lady Penelope (she/her, cis)

bisexual, demisexual

World bisexual icon, Lady Penelope, has absolutely no gender preferences, but it does really come down to the person for her. Despite the potential pressures of high society, I can see her being very open about her sexuality, in the sort of way people go "fun fact" and everyone already knows that fun fact.

Brains (he/him, trans man)

Asexual, demiromantic

I think that Brains isn't really open about being a trans man, but not out of any sort of shame, just that he doesn't want random people to know. I can see him as coming out to specific people in certain situations, but on the whole, he doesn't feel the need. Of the Tracy's I imagine he has come out to, Jeff and Grandma know, and Kayo and Kyrano as well.

Mari Zuko may not have been the typical sorority president. She was sardonic, dry, brash, and most importantly - never caught dead in a pastel. But it became clear from an early age that Mari was the one who her parents pinned their hopes on. Bryn, her older sister, made it obvious she wasn’t going to indulge their father - the dean of Ogden College - and did the exact opposite. In fact, she didn’t even apply to college. So the pressure all fell on Mari. And it’s not that she exactly cared…maybe ambition was too strong a word, considering Mari’s goals weren’t motivated on any personal level, but she certainly had goals. They just were motivated by her desire for others admiration, envy, and, of course, their approval. 

HOW SHE EMBODIES HER CHARACTER TROPE: THE CLOSET GAY

Mari is the second daughter of two parents with extraordinarily high expectations for their children. While Bryn, her elder sister, always was able to shake them off without much effort, Mari often felt like she was collapsing under the weight of what they wanted for her. It didn’t help that her father was the Dean of Ogden, his ever sharp eyes on what the going ons on campus were. Not to say Mari didn’t have moments of weakness - she absolutely did. And Greer was one of those moments.

But regardless of her relationship with Greer, Mari knew her coming out wouldn’t be all that accepted or welcomed. She was a sorority president. She was the Dean’s daughter. She had high standards she had to live up to, and as her sister had already discarded those, the expectations for both Zuko sisters fell on her. Regardless of her feelings for Greer, Mari knew they weren’t enough to be ready to come out. Especially when some days, it seemed like half the campus felt the same way

Mari knew that she wasn’t straight, but something about Greer - who she became close with their freshman year, having met several times when they were younger thanks to the Morrison parents being Ogden alumnae (and of course, Mari's father being the Dean) - sharpened all of that. The way she commanded attention in a crowd, the way she lit up a room. Mari fell hard, and fast. But Greer always had boyfriends. Greer was straight. At least publicly.

That was something that Mari felt they had in common, for a long time. That they were straight. Or at least, they weren’t out. But behind closed doors, regardless of what their relationship statuses may have been, the two girls were…together. They passed it off as being close friends, Mari a sorority girl with a penchant for partying that slid right into Greer’s inner circle, but the two of them knew that wasn’t the case. That it was something more.

speaking of the texts, mari got blackmailed by g to send a text to all greer's hook-ups from last year during her bday party

i watched the 2015 film "the danish girl" for my english class and i have to write an essay thats due eod tomorrow SO to get my juices a flowin i'm gonna review the movie here first. spoilers from here on out duh

So this movie was kind of 😐. i knew about lili elbe and gerda wegerner way before this movie , im not like a historian on them but i know that gerda supported lili in her transition and they were still very much together and in love up until the last years of lili's life in 1930 shortly after their marriage was dissolusioned since lilli transitioned and their marriage couldn't be recognized anymore. Also like gerda was a huuuugee woman lover she painted a lot of lesbian erotic art. i was actually really confused most of the film like "ok when is gerda going to start accepting lili and theyre going to be happy with eachother?" but i guess portraying gerda as anything but straight is too much somehow and she needs to rely on a man to help her process the horrible situation of her wife discovering who she is and medically + socially transitioning :(

obviously that was sarcasm , but that does happen in the film. Ok to be real, i will probably finish writing this post, draft a few pages of my essay and rewatch the film again in the morning because im having trouble processing this movie. its earnestly coming off as a nothing burger to me. i was keeping an open mind about how they portray lili's gender awakening and her subsequent female persona as a different person where lili can only be "einar" or "lili" depending on what she is physically presenting as, because this is set in the 1920s and obviously they do not have the same vocabulary and terms for things we do, hindsight is 20/20, that sort of thing. but like. i really expected them to steer away from that way of presenting things, because in the modern-day most (and yes. generalizing but thats how the cookie crumbles in analysis situations) transgender people view their agab self and their "transitioned" self as the same person, because. you really are the same person, you just look differently, a way that is more conjunct with your perception of your gender identity. so i was really expecting lili to start thinking of herself as both "lili" and "einar" or like explain to gerda that she is still the same person she knew, just different, in a way. but no, they keep going on with the "two identities" thing, and while that probably is the way that Real Life lili thought of herself, if the story is going to divert from reality then you can absolutely use fictionilization to your advantage to more clearly explain transgender identities to your cis audience .

one thing i did Not really like was the fact that lili's gender euphoria was always tied with her sexuality. and like. yeah gender ties with sexuality, duh, i would be a fool if i acted like they were seperate, but for lili biggest moments of gender euphoria are portrayed as sensual sexual pleasure. like when a naked gerda pulls off lili's male clothing to reveal a silky camisole underneath or when lili goes to a live peep show and mimics the girl inside, trying to learn to act feminine but stops when the girl sees her (as lili is presenting masculine and doesn't want to raise suspicion) but eventually she loses herself in the pleasure and continues to mimic the girl until she reaches down and remembers she has a penis instead of a vagina and its like... normally i would be cool with this kind of sexual portrayal if this movie was written or directed by a trans person or like 1:1 based off of a trans person's experience but this movie is Obviously made for cis people by cis people. and i would say that a LOT of cishet people, even those who are "allies", think that queer identities are inherently sexual. thats why they say that "children can't be in queer relationships" or that "all trans women / trans people are perverts" because they cant imagine divorcing queerness from sex. and just like the way that the movie refers to lili as having "two identities", this REALLY isnt helping cis audiences understand transppl better.

i think that this movie is helping american society step away from the bare minimum idea that trans ppl (but basically just trans women) are manipulating / abnormal and should only be used in media to point and laugh and say "EWWW the main character had sex with them that's disgusting!!" or "this Trans character is the Villain and they are SOOOO unhinged!" in horror and shit. but it isnt that good at representing like. nuance in gender identity or things like that .

I actually really like her song Too Proud, which I feel like is a bit of a curveball choice? The rap feature is fucking embarrassing but idk... it's a fucking earworm and I am a suuucker for when beautiful vocals are contrasted with more intense vocals (in this case, a fairly staccato rap). And the song just really feels like a more polished successor to her english album.

Speaking of her English album, I adore the entire thing but I want to shout out Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI for introducing me to Ryuichi Sakamoto (still mourning him). But the real stand out on that album is On and On... which I listen to every pride month, obsessively. Knowing she's nonbinary and probably bi (she never explicitly came out but... it's been strongly hinted??) makes it even better, though it was HILARIOUS as a straight cis ally anthem, too. Lmao.

I feel like beyond that... a lot of my picks are fairly obvious and her bigger tracks (Hikari/Simple and Clean, Sanctuary/Passion, Beautiful World (though my fave version is the De Capo ver), Distance M Flo Remix, One Last Kiss) but if I'm going for some that haven't received their proper dues...

虹色バス (Rainbow Colored Bus) is both soothing and exciting.

~2:44 until the send of Kireina Hito (Find Love) is one of my fave 2 minutes of hers because it goes from a very quiet moment and the instrumental slowly builds itself up and adds element, going from the bubble keyboard moments to throwing in the drum kit and it just feels like it's creeping over to take over your consciousness while still being extremely simple. It feels stripped and yet it has more nad more going on, with her own breathy signs becoming a part of the back beat.

Could never forget her lesbi-jazz romance song with Sheena Ringo.

God, I can keep going. Traveling (especially the 10+ minute remix, lol), Kremlin Dusk, Deep River, Stay Gold, Sakura Drops, Flavor of Life, Celebrate, Eclipse - Interlude, and so much more. Hello everyone, I am a Rain World player and also very much part of the lgbtq+ community, so that of course means giving the silly little sluggo's silly little gender and sexuality headcanons

Is this post going to get attention? Probably not lmao but here it is anyways!

I think I've never shared my pronouns and sexuality headcanons for the canon slugcats, so here they are! Along with alignments and why I think what I think

Survivor: they/he/she pronouns (they/them preferred usually)

Sexuality is not defined, but they wouldn't be opposed to a relationship with another sluggo

Survivor to me is neutral good, I think they are neutral good judging by them being open to adopting slugcats and taking them to the Tree, when they find them abandoned and they don't seem very lawful or chaotic to me, just a chill little guy

(Bonus: they are fine with being called gender neutral words, but along with the word "sibling", they like the word "brother" too and "mother" along with "parent")

Monk: he/him, gay and asexual, but he isn't interested in anyone yet, he is just happy he found his sib, his current job is being a fun uncle to his siblings kids

Monk is definitely lawful good, he doesn't want to hurt creatures unless he has to and it's implied he helps Moon by bringing her her cloak and neurons, so he's just a peaceful little lad

Hunter: A lot of people in the fandom ship Hunter and Arti as a lesbian couple, but to me, Hunter is a masculine sluggie, so um sorry guys, I don't ship Artihunter

To me, Hunter is a he/they and genderfluid, but they often use one set of pronouns at a time

At the start of the run mostly "he", around Pebbles, he preferred "they" and at the end of the run, back to "he"

He probably likes the ladies, but he never had time for a relationship because of the Rot cutting his life very, very short

Hunter to me... is also neutral good! I know a lot of people see Hunter as a fighting machine, who kills without remorse... me, not so much. Hunter is not an evil slugcat, he went out of his way to help Moon, he could have ignored her and just go down to the Depths after getting enough karma

But he didn't. He chose not to. That's what makes him a good slugcat in my eyes

I also think he isn't actually carnivorous by choice, but because of the Rot in his body, he's forced to eat more to sustain himself (and I'm a firm supporter of the "he has Rot on his back wear his spear sticks to" theory and the "he gains back tentacles in the last cycles of his life" theory)

Spearmaster: they/them (agender)

They're aromantic and asexual

They're lawful neutral, they do the tasks being given to them by iterators, because a mission is a mission, not necessarily because its the right thing to do (like Hunter who really went out of his way) They aren't interested in finding a partner, they are happy just being with SRS again

Artificer: she/her (but she doesn't mind being called a they to be honest, call her a he and she'll kill you), lesbian

I deduced she's a lesbian because she's a certified girlboss

Artificer starts as true neutral, then chaotic neutral and at the end she full on goes chaotic evil, if she embraces violence and forgets everything else, but she goes back to true neutral if the Echo got through to her and she decides to go to the Depths instead

Gourmand: he/him, straight

He's my cis/straight guy, he's an ally though, 100%!

Gourmand is chaotic good to me, he's a good, smart and kind leader, but he also is a chaotic little chonker and those things can coexist

Rivulet: he/she, mostly he, trans (was afab at birth), his sexuality is pansexual probably

Rivulet is chaotic neutral, he's all over the place and a bit odd, he does a lot of things just because he can, but she's neither good or evil, just chaos (she's got a soft spot for Moon though!)

Saint: they/them nonbinary/agender, aromantic and asexual

Saint is true neutral, they ascend others not out of desire to kill or a desire to cause good, it's because it has to happen and they have the power to do it. They aren't good, bad, lawful or chaotic, they just are

Inv: any pronouns, they don't care, just use whatever for table

Sexuality: pansexual and polyamorous

Pansexual because fish can fall in love with every gender of slugcat in the dating sim

Polyamorous because honestly chaos just wants to date them all and be loved by them

Inv is chaotic neutral, but like scratch out neutral for the most part

Teal (Survivors and Monks sibling)

She/her and bisexual!

Since most people don't even know she exists, I can give her whatever hc I want and be the first to claim her as my blorbo, so dibs on Teal!

To me, she's a bit of a tomboy and the middle child (huh that explains how she's mostly ignored by the community), she's smaller than even Monk and she reluctantly moved away from the Tree with her parents, because although she didn't want to lose hope that her brothers would come back, she had to go with her already grieving and stressed out parents

I hc she left a trail to their new location for her bro's too!

sexuality headcanon: i can see one of two options for him. one, he’s straight but one of those borderline embarrassingly enthusiastic allies, goes to pride and scares off creeps/homophobes. two, he’s pan and it took him at least 20 years to realize that wasn’t how everyone is and that gender is actually a big factor in attraction for a lot of people

gender headcanon: that post that’s like ‘cis guy wearing a pin that says ‘ask me about my pronouns’ and when you ask he very excitedly tells you they’re he/him’. that’s gumshoe

a ship i have with said character: i don’t have any big ships with him tbh. gumworth can be cute but i’m super picky about it so it has to be done a very certain way. he’s cute with maggey too but i don’t have strong feelings about it

a brotp i have with said character: his relationships with kay and maya are genuinely so wholesome. he’s a weirdgirl collector too but i feel like he sees them more as equals/friends rather than protégés/kids yknow? also shoutout to his friendship with phoenix i feel like no one ever talks about them and they have a great dynamic

a notp i have with said character: can’t think of one off the top of my head

a random headcanon: he has severe dyslexia and dysgraphia which make reading and writing really hard for him. when edgeworth found out, he did some research on dyslexia friendly fonts and started printing his documents in those. he claimed it was just so gumshoe and any other dyslexic employees would be able to work more efficiently, but gumshoe likes to think he did it out of care/gratitude towards him (and he might be right but of course miles would never admit that)

general opinion over said character: i would genuinely die for him. i miss him every day capcom where’s my boy

Tenshi Todokami

Basics:

He's either 19 or just turned 20 when I generally picture him.

He's a cis man, he/him, but is absolutely confident in high heels and a skirt.

Doesn't stick to one sexuality, doesn't really care. More than likely Pan, but again, doesn't care.

At 20 he's 5'7, the same height as Hawks. Dabi is pleased that he's taller than both his birds.

His name is Tenshi, but he also goes by Ten, Angel, Eyas (Hawks only!), Goldie (Dabi only!), and baby bird.

He's a pro hero! Or, he wants to be. He's still a sidekick at his Papa's agency, and goes by Golden Frost: The Winged Blizzard Hero.

Breakdown of his Quirk: Fierce Frost

Unlike Hawks, his wings cannot separate into individual feathers. They're solid flesh and bone, fully developed wings. He can't sense anything through them, either, although he's got an uncanny knack for sensing danger.

He also got a twisted version of his Da's Quirk! Tenshi has flames, too, but they burn *cold*, and if he uses them too much, frost builds up on his wings and hands. And while he has fire immunity, his ice immunity is... Lacking.

Grew up with a lot of love and support, from both the Todorokis and the LOV. The only exception is Endeavor, who Dabi won't let get close to Tenshi. Hawks doesn't like it, but it's an old argument they can't agree on. That later changes, much to Dabi's displeasure.

As a kid, Tenshi loved cartoons, pizza, and bird watching with his Papa. He did fairly well in school, although he got diagnosed with ADHD later on in grade school due to his hyperactive imagination.

In highschool, (UA) things changed. Be it puberty, the pressure of being the number two's son, or the rumors that followed him about his Da, Tenshi stopped being so bright and cheery. Where he was once an over emotional cry baby, he was suddenly putting up walls and talking back.

Unfortunately, this was all due to Dabi's constant encouragement and insistence that Tenshi could be the best at anything he wanted. Despite training to be a hero, Tenshi acted out a lot in school and got in trouble. From stealing from other classmates to straight up vandalism, he landed in detention- or in police custody- more than once.

And as much as Dabi hated it, Hawks sent Tenshi to intern with none other than Endeavor in Tenshi's second year. It helped, though, his granddad put him on the straight track with a little tough love. Tenshi graduated from UA in the top ranks of his class.

He didn't have a lot of friends growing up, other than Kutsuki Usagimura, my dustbunny lovechild! Unfortunately, Kutsuki later defects from hero (the White Rabbit hero: Wonderland) to villain (Stopwatch).

Personality:

As mentioned earlier, Tenshi was a bright, cheery, imaginative kid. While he kept that outgoingness and enthusiasm, older Tenshi is more cynical, cocksure, and overconfident. He makes a lot of mistakes and tears himself to pieces over them.

The media calls him a "ladies man," like his Papa, a view he gleefully fulfills. (He's handsome and he knows it.) He's mischievous and carefree, which helps him keep a close bond to his Da when he's older.

In battle, Tenshi is bold and confident. Unlike Hawks, he doesn't rely on speed (he only has 1/3rd of Hawks' speed) but on the power of his ice flames, which makes him a mid-range combatant. However, he does like to catch his enemies by surprise, dropping from above to get the jump on them.

Unfortunately, he also doesn't think things through in fights, and this has led to several of his allies getting hurt because of his recklessness. Humbling lessons learned the hard way.

Hobby wise, Tenshi enjoys bird watching, ice skating, and playing guitar.
