i do a really bad thing where i have a conversation in my head but then retaliate out loud like when i’m overwhelmed i’ll be like ‘gosh everyone is being so annoying and so loud’ and then the second someone talks to me directly i’ll be like ‘STOP DONT TALK TO ME’ instead of being normal in the first place and asking people to not talk to me in a polite manner

how ddi u feel about the recent chapter of bsd :((
oh my heart is absolutely broken for teruko :( all she wanted to do was save society and now she’s being used as a fuel for ultimate destruction. the fact that she’s only twelve absolutely breaks my heart for her :( she deserved to be a kid man the government in this series is Evil letting this happen.
i am really hoping fyodor gets fully killed soon. i’m a bit worried since dazai is in france which is like. i think a 15 hour flight from tokyo?? so unless asagiri pulls some nonsense it’ll be a long time before fyodor can be killed for good.
im also worried for fukuzawa. he looked Hurt after protecting aya. and oh god aya my poor daughter now fyodor is going to never leave her side. i wonder if she will use this desire to lure him into his own demise? i’m just speculating though.
current stakes are high but i really do want a pov change soon. i miss jouno and tecchou so much. i miss kenji. and yosano. and atsushi. there’s so many characters we very much need updates on. i really don’t know how things will end unless dazai can somehow get around and nullify things? idk.
i gotta go through the manga again soon to look for foreshadowing or something. it’s very cleverly written, maybe there’s some hints to the future somewhere i’ve not paid attention to.
thank you sm for asking!! sorry if this answer ran too long sometimes idk when to stop talking haha

a post u made a bit ago reminds me of an hoh steve harrington (which, as a hoh person i have... mixed feelings abt but that's another can of worms) fic and it was the single most dumbest thing i have ever read, because the amount of victim blaming is INSANE
basically, jonathan is the cause of steve's fading hearing. not, you know, billy who damaged steve far worse or the literal russian torture. makes a ton of sense. and it essentially makes jonathan out to be an asshole who attacked steve with severe malice who hurt steve unprovoked. oh, also, apparently robin, steve's best friend, doesn't notice he's hard of hearing, but eddie does. how long has he known that guy again?
some steddies are fucking INSANE
Waking up to this ask was truly🤌 you have opened my pandora box
My fuh.king.god! the st*ddies are truly insufferable. Like I'm not here to police having fun shipping obviously but it's just become so sad and pathetic; ultimately st*ddie is just born to make st*ve this pathetic love starved character who is always the victim and has never done anything wrong...
The demonizing of Nancy for not loving Steve romantically even though like... that relationship was doomed from the start. He was not a good boyfriend. His *love* for her was not the love she needed, his *love language* was not remotely close to what she needed. He didn't try to understand Nancy's pain and trauma...anyway I digress.
The way people blame Jonathan for everything when it comes to st*ve is also LAUGHABLE at best if it weren't so pathetic and embarrassing; someone blamed Jonathan for not making sure st*ve left the party before taking home a drunk Nancy?? Someone made it seem like Jonathan needed permission from St*ve to date Nancy??? Like wtf? Please get your head from out of st*ve h*rrington ass.
Jonathan doesn't owe St*ve anything. Also Jonathan deserved to beat the absolute shit out of him. St*ve was so fragile he didn't talk to his gf instead took his friend to publicly slut Shame her THEN accused Jonathan of killing will and amongst being the absolute worst homophobic asshole. So yea he deserved to get his shit rocked.
*Nancy should've got to rock his shit too.
Like st*ve in the case of Nancy and Jonathan is only a victim of his own actions 🙄
Anyway I digress...again... sure hoh st*ve that could be fun. These kids have been through hell and hell again.
But in this case it feels...very...glamorized. obviously I haven't and WONT read the fic but it sounds not good.
Giving him a disability only for the purpose of making him this dude who needs sympathy and coddling. Or to garner a sympathy piece for him... Giving him a disability to push the played out st*ddie agenda of st*ve being this *pathetic*(people with disabilities are not pathetic and are beyond capable and competent) but this is the vibe from what you described. Like they gave st*ve hoh just to make him seem smaller??? Not because they actually wanted to write in representation or focus on how his physical trauma could affect him...
Truly insane when people use e*ddie as this "no one has ever loved St*ve wah wah and finally he's being seen"
We love exploring trauma and self loathing in writing sure sure, ofc! But my goodness if the st*ve stans haven't gone far beyond. It's like if I said give me a paragraph and they wrote an entire thesis filled with bs.
(I'm not hoh so my opinion may be not but I don't see st*ve as hoh I definitely see him more as someone with a vision impairment. But also would love to hear your other can of worms about hoh st*ve if only you wanted to share anon. Thank you for this message <3)

Forever // T. Amajiki
Tumblr media
Being with Tamaki for a few years taught his lover a lot. She saw more sides of him than most, and it made her heart swell to see the usually quiet boy happy and determined when he accomplished something he was trying for or when he was down she knew just how to cheer him up.
As the day drew on she realised just how much she loved him and how much she wished for him to be home, to give him a big kiss as he came through the door, knowing that his day was long, plagued with paperwork and patrols. Hearing the door open she saw her tall boyfriend enter, hood over his eyes as he let out a sigh, stretching as he felt his body being encased by his girlfriend “Hello butterfly how was your day” His low voice spoke out as she gave him a bright smile “It was nice heaving the day off but i missed you Tama” she pouted as he gave her a chuckle, kissing her forehead “I missed you too, the office was a bore without my adorable secretary” Moving into their shared apartment Tamaki saw food already laid out in front of him “I ran you some bath water too” [ ] called out as she rounded the wall separating the kitchen and living room “Y-you didn't have to do that love im-” A finger silenced his pleas “Let me take care of you okay? You need your rest and i didnt want you to worry about anything coming home except relaxing and cuddling with me okay?” [ ] said as she stood on her tippy toes, kissing the top of his cheek “Tamaki Amajiki we have been doing this for years, won't you please let me love you without trying to outdo me ; you deserve it, you're a wonderful hero, you're my hero and eventually...you'll be our family hero..once we have one..” She trailed off as he stared at her, watching a sadden face appear over her features. Shaking it off as soon as it had appeared she gave him another smile “Its alright. There's no rush, i'm here for the long haul , me and you okay?” she said as she let his face go , heading to the couch “Now go go, hurry up before the food gets cold.” She teased as he gave her a soft look, coming over to kiss her cheek “Okay i wont argue butterfly”
These little things stuck with him, her caring ways, cooking for him, cleaning his office while hed be gone, even doing some of his paperwork while he was on parole. He loved her so much and enjoyed all of the little things here and there she did for him. He ddi the same, and each time made her cry, not out of being upset but for how caring he was to her. Bringing her roses, making sure she didnt have to cook if he could help it, spa days and doing more crafts and bonding with her whenever they could. But he realized while she helped him with so much he felt like he struggled. She struggled with her own issues too, similar to his. Sometimes she felt like she wasnt enough, she had her own anxieties and could get in a sup when she felt inadequate, unlovable and unwanted. But to him, to tamaki he loved everything about her, and she was one of the strongest people he knew. He felt motivated and glad to have her as the one he wished to marry , to have kids with, to start a family. But that also broke his heart when the topic came up she did usually didnt talk much about it, happily making plans but going back on them by saying ‘if i was a good mother’ She didnt want to dissapoint their future kids, didnt want to be a lacking mother or wife. As usual Tamaki came home, but htis time he went past the wonderful smelling food in the kitchen and to their bedroom, his cute girlfriend wrapped up in a blanket “How are you feeling butterfly?” He asked as she gave him a smile, reaching over to hug him “Im oaky! Just a bit overwhelmed is all, im sorry i passed out during the meeting..” She said as she gave him a hurt look before continuing “I shouldve tried harder to stay and present with you i-” Before she could finish he gave her a kiss, stopping her words “You needed rest. Im still surprised you got up to cook, did you at least take a nap love?” He asked as she shook her head , causing him to smile “Good. i love you butterfly and i woudnt change that for the world” he said as she smiled, giving him a hug “I’d hope so” She giggled as he pouted “Never doubt my love for you [ ], no matter what im gonna be here, i promise okay?” he said as she nuzzled the boy, kissing his nose “ And i for you Tamaki”
February came in , the happy couple had started up to take more time off to do more things and enjoy eachothers presence in the month of love. As the days went by Tamaki noticed [ ] was having odd days. From sleeping long hours of the day to just crying randomly, he knee something was wrong. Coming from the store he heard sobbing from their bathroom. Terrified , he tried to enter only feeling the door being locked “[ ] baby whats wrong? Can i come in?” with no response he nervously knocked again. “[ ] please...whats wrong” He pleaded as the door unclicked, showing his still beautiful but tear stained cheeked girl. “T-tama..” She cried as she just jumped into his arms, scaring the indigo haired boy “Baby are you okay?” he asked as she took in a breath before smiling sadly “Y-yeah i am..” She said as he picked her up, taking them into the living room. “I love you..and whatever is making you feel like this..if i can help let me okay?” Tamaki said as [ ] shook her head, placing it into his shoulder as they fell asleep.
Every day from her breakdown Tamaki came to her office with a rose, ate lunch with her and made sure she was hydrated and well. Once the week of valentines day came up, he had his plan set in motion. He had their schedules fixed, the week off for themselves as they did different things. A spa day the first day, a picnic the next, shopping at an expensive store for clothes. Then an art day where they drew (or tried to ) eachother and made art fro and about the other. Once the day of Valentines came however, it was different. It started with them taking a shower together, Tamaki cooking breakfast in bead for [ ] as they talked through the morning. Tamaki told her the outfits they ha gotten the days prior was for tonight which gave [ ] the jitters. She was excited for what her pro hero boyfriend had instore for them. Once they got to the restaurant all eys were on them. [ ]’s long black dress falttereed tamakis white suit and black bow tie. The two of them sat and started to eat, coversating with some fans who so happend to be around thwm. One was a small girl with wide hopeful eyes. She came to the couple with her mom in toe “Im so sorry to interrupt you two, my daughter wouldnt let mt husband and me rest until she came over to you guys” the wmoan laughed, causing bothe members to smile “Hello there how are you?” Tamaki asked the girl as she stepped from behind her mother “ H-hi my name is Shiemi a-and i really like you suneater!” The small girl said , causing [ ] , Tamaki and her mom to smile “Why thank you Shiemi, i hope im a good hero for you” Tamaki responded as the little girl shook her head “The best! Youre so cool. A-and your wife is pretty like mama! I like you dress miss suneater” The girl said , causing [ ] to stutter as she sipped her water “O-oh why thank you Shiemi but Im-” before she could continue she saw her boyfriend give the woman and her daughter a wide smile “She is, inst she?” He said as he turned to [ ] , moving from his chair “Tama what are you-” [ ] asked again as he leaned to the little girls ear , then to the mothers as they both gave him a smile, the woman happily shaking her head as her daughter followed the hero. Confused, [ ] watched as he picked the little girl up, putting her atop of the bar table “Hey everyone! Suneater has an announcement!” she yelled as most people turned around or to the table in the middle of the room, watching and smiling at the energetic child and pro hero “In fact I do, [ ] would you mind standing?” Tamaki asked as she gave him a wide eyed look, standing as he gave her a smile, extending and hand to her as she joined his side
“H-hey guys , as you know um..this si my lovely girlfriend and partner [ ]” He started as she gave everyone in the room a wary smile, her face feeling hot as he continued “ Ive known her for years, and weve been dating for some of those, she's seen me through thick and thin, helped me out in a pinch and made me feel like the strongest man alive, well next to almight…” he whispered as some of the people laughed, more paying them attention “And through all of this….i could think of a more beautiful and right person to spend the rest of my life with” And with the the young child handed the now kneeling man a ring as some whooped and hollered, others recording as both [ ] and the girls mother had tears in their eyes “[ ] [ ], the love of my life, my butterfly, i couldnt think of a more beautiful person inside and out to be with, will you give me the honor and make me the happiest man on this earth to be my wife?” He asked as the ring was revealed, diamond glistening as his own tear filled eyes looked to hers. Thinking her voice would fail her she shook her head yes, causing the room to yell as she had her ring put on her finger , jumping to hug her standing fiance as they hugged and cried, video of the engagement spreading as he thought to himself ‘I can now have my family, my endless love with you my dear butterfly’
As their wedding came , all of their friends and family came, including the new found friends of the young Shiemi and her parents. The ceremony went though flawlessly, Shiemi being their flower girl as the newlyweds ran down the easel , heading for their limo as they herded for the reception. The family spoke on how happy they were from their marriage, friends giving their comments on how they knew the couple would get married as the couple laughed at some stories and comments about their relationship. The night ended with so much love and joy for the new couple, startint their life together\
Two years went by before valentines day came again, three years to the day he had proposed arrived. Happily and ready to celebrate Tamaki woke up to his wife missing, hearing her fumble in the bathroom. Heading to the room he was shocked to she her in a disarray , eyes foggy as she met his “Tama...i have a surprised” She said as her teras fell down her face. Confused and still a bit tired , he gave her a look as she handed him a blue and while stick. The word pregnant snapped him awake as more tears started to fall, handing him two and three more all with the same small but powerful word “Im..gonna be a dad?” He asked as she smiled, shaking her head as she hugged the trembling girl “T-tama i'm gonna be a mom..what if i'm not good enough…” She sobbed as he cooed her, kissing her lips as his tears fell with hers “You're gonna be great Butterfly, i promise, you're gonna be so so great” He said as his heart swelled feeling her lips against his ‘This...This is forever , a love i wished for...and i couldn't have asked for more of a way to live my life...i love you butterfly’

No, the Creature’s name is Fraulein’s Monster — Thoughts on: The Captive Curse (CAP)
Previous Metas: SCK/SCK2, STFD, MHM, TRT, FIN, SSH, DOG, CAR, DDI, SHA, CUR, CLK, TRN, DAN, CRE, ICE, CRY, VEN, HAU, RAN, WAC, TOT, SAW
Hello and welcome to a Nancy Drew meta series! 30 metas, 30 Nancy Drew Games that I’m comfortable with doing meta about. Hot takes, cold takes, and just Takes will abound, but one thing’s for sure: they’ll all be longer than I mean them to be.
Each meta will have different distinct sections: an Introduction, an exploration of the Title, an explanation of the Mystery, a run-through of the Suspects. Then, I’ll tackle some of my favorite and least favorite things about the game, and finish it off with ideas on how to improve it.
If any game requires an extra section or two, they’ll be listed in the paragraphs above, along with my list of previous metas.
These metas are not spoiler free, though I’ll list any games/media that they might spoil here: CAP, mentions of SAW, mentions of ASH.
The Intro:
The obvious Frankenstein reference in the title of this meta is the only one I make in the whole meta, I swear. It was a mistake to make the monster look like Frankenstein’s Monster, but I’m not gonna drag you guys or the meta down with that.
We’re professionals here.
This is a game with rather big shoes to fill, to be honest — it’s our first game in Germany, comes right after a very well-received “haunting” game and has shades of being a “haunting” game itself, its (small bit of) marketing played off Grimm’s Tales, and Savannah’s comment about staying in a castle where she discovered that the real monster was human cruelty is directly pointing towards it. CAP and its story could have crumpled under the weight of high expectations like MED, MID, and (in a slightly more controversial opinion) SEA did, but instead it did the opposite: in nearly every way, it improved on the Faerietale Formula that SAW inspired, and added to it.
Rather than a spooky haunted faerietale with a Hidden Villain, we have instead a monster — out in the open, even — as our main villain. The difference between ghosts and monsters isn’t really important in, say, a “Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark” or “Goosebumps” book, but it’s fairly important in a mystery, and even more in a Nancy Drew mystery.
As I’ve said a few dozen times in this series — and if you’re not tired of it yet, you will be soon — ghosts are a Reality in the Nancy Drew universe; they exist, they cause trouble, and they sometimes even help the living (or at least coexist with the living).
Monsters, on the other hand, never really exist — not banshees, not werewolves, not malicious wolves with opposable thumbs and the ability to cook poisoned foods, and certainly not monsters that in no way resemble the main villain from a Universal classic horror flick. Monster in the Nancy Drew universe is a Title, not a type of creature. Whenever there’s a monster on the loose, it’s a sure sign that there’s a bitter individual somewhere looking to hurt someone — usually for a personal grudge.
Which, as it happens, is exactly what happened here.
We’re still firmly in a Faerietale game — the ‘Nancy’ games start with ASH — but I do think it’s important to note here that the girls in this game (the victims of the monster, Renate, Anja) are all shadows of Nancy. The previous victims, sharing the designation of the Girl in the Dress with Nancy, are shadows of what could happen to Nancy if she doesn’t change the fate that’s been designated for her — down to the red hair of the original Girl.
Renate is a type of detective, trying to solve the mystery of the tragedies that strike the castle through the actions of the past. And Anja — well, let’s just say that Anja and Nancy have a lot more between then than the first glance might show.
The two women are foiled, especially with their love lives. Nancy’s dating a good man — despite the obvious, glaring problems in the relationship — and so their argument (and her own selfish behavior) isn’t the end of the world, nor the end of the relationship. They stop, they assess, and — with a little help from Anja — Nancy’s determined to try a little harder, leading us straight into ASH. The big thesis statement of the game is delivered, like last game, by our villain — “There’s nothing like love to bring order to a scattered world”. Anja gives Nancy good advice: communicate, and work for what you want.
Anja, however, was not dating a good man; she encouraged him, much like Ned does with Nancy, to be better, to try harder, to really reach for what he could be — only to be cast aside as soon as all the hard work that she had put in to supporting him led to good results. Her world was not scattered before — but after Markus, there was nothing that could put it back together again.
There’s nothing like love, indeed, but when it’s the wrong kind of person…well, the message that Anja took out of it was that somebody, somewhere, should care about her. And if they weren’t going to…well, a tragedy necessitates the force of Fate, and we know what Renate says about fate:
“Fate has a habit of digging in its claws when tempted.”
The last thing I want to touch on in this introduction — which I realize is a bit heavy on themes, but so is the game — is the importance of Titles within this game. The Bürgermeister, The Castellan, The Monster, The Girl in the Dress — this game operates a lot on character tropes, like any self-respecting faerietale, and the titles go a long way to showing who each character is. Karl feels dwarfed and inadequate next to his title; Anja wanted hers so badly that she was willing to lie; the title of Monster strikes fear into the heart of the vast majority of our cast.
And the Girl? The Girl in the Dress is a symbol of helpless fate, a sacrifice to propel the narrative forward. Remember what Renate tells Nancy? “The monster, he is here for you.”
Tellingly, it’s Nancy’s changing of what exactly it means to be The Girl in the Dress that allows our faerietale to meet with a happy ending, rather than a tragedy (the ending normally brought about by Fate, in Renate’s words). In keeping the title but changing the scope of the title, Nancy figuratively beats the Monster, and saves the memory all the Girls that came before.
The Title:
The Captive Curse is, as far as titles go, a masterclass. Nearly all the titles of the 20+ numbers are fabulous, but CAP’s title is a shining star even among them. Let’s talk about the important word in the title — “Captive”.
There are a lot of things that are “captive” in this game. We have the captives of the monster, to start off with, but there’s a lot more where that came from. The residents of the Castle and the castle’s town are also captive — they’re held captive by fear, as evidenced by the doors that refuse to open even when Nancy begs them to.
Shrugging off the idea of keeping this meta even a little bit spoiler-free, I’d also add that Markus is a sort of captive of Anja — there under false pretenses, drawing a web around him to finish him off — and equally that Anja is a captive of Markus’ — the shadow of her dick ex-boyfriend hanging over her dream job, watching him profit off of being a truly terrible person.
Renate and Nancy get in on the action, too. Renate is a captive of guilt, returning to the castle to try to prevent further deaths, haunted by her sister’s early death. She’s also a storyteller — a profession famed for having a “captive audience”. Lastly, Nancy is forced into the costume rather than her own clothes — a captive of the tale that’s being spun by our major players.
The Faerietale
In SAW’s faerietale, Nancy was the visiting prince, the Knight in Shining Armor to look after and save the kingdom. In CAP’s faerietale, however, her role gets changed around — not the least of which because we discover what an actual Knight in Shining Armor really is, courtesy of Renate:
“A knight in shining armor never did nothing for nobody. He never fought. A knight in dented, scraped armor - now that’s what you want.”
This isn’t the cynical take that some might spin it into — the Nancy Drew universe is not and has never been a Nolan-style grimdark-fest, skeptical of any good deed or honest inclination — but instead a declaration that it’s what people do that makes them heroes, that makes them good, that makes them who they are, not what they are (or what they seem to be).
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that, in a game exploring what good a Knight in Shining Armor might be, that the series’ resident Knight appears within the context of his fight with Nancy.
Ned in the video games series is the closest to a Knight that we really get; he doesn’t make mistakes, he’s always patient and kind and understanding, and helps out the best he can without being actually on the scene. In other words, his armor has no dents, nor scrapes, not so much by his choice (excepting possibly CRY), but by Nancy’s. By constantly leaving him behind, she’s cast in him his role as Knight in Shining Armor — but, as Renate points out, that’s not necessarily a good thing. Ned has the potential to be and do more — as ASH will show us.
And yes, there’s someone in the series that fits the knight in dented, scraped armor, but this is not the time for a Francy meta. If ever there is a time for Francy meta.
The biggest thing that changes from SAW to CAP is that Nancy’s learned from last time, and starts trying to figure out the faerietale she’s in the minute it starts in earnest. When she hears Renate’s tale, she’s sure she’s figured it out — guessing it was about Renate’s sister — but we’re shown that her perception is a little off (as the girl was Renate, not her sister). This shifting up of the roles is crucial thematically to our ending, where Nancy gleefully assumes the role of the Girl in the Dress as the hero of the piece, rather than the victim that the Girl had always been.
What Nancy happens upon here I’ll cheerfully call the Power of the Storyteller. All faerietales shift and change depending on who’s telling the story — look at the thousands of versions of Cinderella had all over the world, all too old to just be a knockoff of their geographical neighbor’s story or (yes, I’ve heard this) based off the Disney property.
With Anja telling the story for the majority of the game, it’s a tale about how sometimes the “monster” (and her version of a monster, specifically) wins — and how sometimes they deserve to win, to perpetuate the faerietale as it always has been; as Renate reminds us, “when death goes to take a ride, he follows the road that serves him best.” In Anja’s mind, there must always be a Monster, and there must always be a Girl in the Dress. With Nancy taking over the story, however, it’s about how the victim doesn’t have to be the victim, and that they have the power to assume their own destiny.
In other words, they’re playing out the central conflict that Renate outlines in her first discussion with Nancy: “If our time together is a comedy, then I was brought here by coincidence. If our time is a tragedy, then it must be fate.”
Coincidence and fate are also, coincidentally (heh) the driving forces in a faerietale — except that fate is also a driving force for romance. And because romance is our Chief Concern in CAP’s story, a lot of the story is about fighting against fate. In the end, it’s a coincidence that Nancy arrives, but Anja tries to spin it into fate by making her the Girl in the Dress. It’s only when Nancy takes charge, not letting fate have its say, that she arrives at the ending and is able to best Anja.
One of the great questions that this faerietale presents is about the Monster is whether or not it ever existed. In a Faerietale, the Monster nearly always exists in some form or another, needing to be drawn out and killed by our hero(es) before the day can be saved.
Indeed, in Anja’s modern-day retelling of the faerietale, the monster doesn’t exist — at least, not in its Monstrous form. In her story, Markus is the monster, and she must put on the guise of a monster in order to defeat him — in other words, if a monster is going to win, it’s going to be her.
To quote Ned’s astute observation, “[Castle Finster] has too many monsters.”
But it’s Savannah’s words that we should look to, as she’s a Storyteller just as much as Renate is. Savannah, heavily implied to be speaking of Castle Finster, says that the monster she found wasn’t a ghost — it was human cruelty that made the castle and its history so terrifying.
So we’re faced with the question: did the monster ever exist, or was it solely bad people, stealing cattle and sheep and young girls away for their own wicked purposes? Was there truly an amorphous being roaming the countryside, or was it just a clever way to shift blame from those who would do evil unto others? Remember what Renate tells us about monsters:
“The worst monsters are self-made. They are people like you and me, but they have taken a terrible turn. They let everything awful, everything sad, take up all the breathing room in their hearts, until all they know is revenge.”
The answer I would give is that, for this faerietale, it doesn’t matter if the Monster is real or not. The concern is not the nature of the monster, it’s the people’s reaction to the idea of a monster, real or imagined, that sets off our faerietale and provides the stakes. The fear is real and palpable, and the ends of our villain, while understandable and perhaps even praiseworthy, require some downright dastardly means.
The Mystery:
We open first on a look back at a young girl in an Era Past being captured by an unseen monster in the woods near a castle…only to have Nancy drive up on the Castle Finster itself in the modern day. Nancy’s been called in by the owner of the castle, Markus, who wants any troubles with the legendary monster cleaned up before he and his Rich Investor Friends arrive.
Rather than a welcoming piece of history, Nancy is greeted with a scared, unwelcoming town, the fear of the monster looming large and cutting deep — and that’s before the Curse itself turns its eyes on Nancy, forcing her to play along as the Girl in the Red Dress, the favored victim of the monster. Those in the castle are kinder than those outside of it, but there’s still the sneaking suspicion that someone is up to no good, using the guise of the monster to wreak a little havoc of their own invention — and time is running out before the monster claims yet another victim…
As far as the mystery goes…I don’t like to use words like “spectacular” because let’s face it, every game has its holes, but honestly CAP’s mystery is pretty spectacular. Attention-catching, a bit sad, a bit horrific, and loaded with faerietale tropes, subversions, and themes — there’s honestly just not much wrong here, especially given the limitations of, well, making a Nancy Drew game in the first place. The writing does a masterful job at hinting at horrors that, given the rating, they can’t say out loud, while still telling a fully cohesive story that even the young players will be able to grab at and understand (if not to quite the same extent)
The Suspects:
The game begins with Lukas Mittelmeier, so perhaps we should too. Lukas is the rather precocious son of the head of security of Castle Finster, as well as being Anja’s nephew. Bright, mischievous, and a huge fan of games and pranks, Lukas makes the castle a little more interesting — as well as making Karl’s life a bit more hellish.
Unlike another youth living in a castle (coughJanecough), Lukas is bright enough to be a competent culprit…he just isn’t malicious enough. Sure, he’ll play dress-up, spook Karl a bit, and stall Nancy outside the gates of the castle, but that’s really as far as he goes. He would have been an especially poor culprit, thematically speaking, and so it’s a good thing that the game never really attempts to lead you there. Even his dressing up as the monster is more meant to lull the player (and Nancy) into letting down their guard so that the real monster is a bit scarier.
Next up is the Bürgermeister and bad-luck-magnet himself, Karl Weschler. Having encountered his doppelganger as a small child, Karl has expected — and received — bad luck for the rest of his life, and lives in fear of being the cause of unhappiness to those around him. He’s also a board game enthusiast, having developed the (incredibly fun, it should be noted) board game Raid! and enlists Nancy to help him polish it while she solves the “huge monster problem” that Markus hired her for.
As a culprit, Karl would have been interesting, but thematically a little off. It would have had to be a situation where enough bad things happened around him at the castle to make him want to shift the blame, dressing up as the monster in order to throw the punishment off of himself and onto a nebulous force. An interesting plot to be sure, but not one that fits the more sinister nature of the game.
Our charming castellan and cunning culprit, Anja Mittelmeier is next on the docket. Incredibly good at her job, polished, polite, and fiendishly dedicated, Anja keeps the castle in good running order, gives Nancy advice, and is a doting aunt — all while secretly sabotaging Markus by acting as the monster.
I have a lot to say about how good a character Anja is — which I’ll cover more in the next section — but she’s also the perfect villain. All the information you need to figure out who she is happens to be presented to Nancy pretty quickly, but none of it is in the proper context to make it obvious.  Even her line — “there’s nothing like love to bring order to a scattered world” — is sweet and romantic at the time, and rather chilling and menacing when you have the whole context of exactly what Anja is doing to ‘bring order to a scattered world’.
It seems only fitting that after Anja should come Markus Boehm, the owner of the castle and the ex-boyfriend that Anja is working for revenge against. Markus is snappish, short-tempered, obnoxious about his money, and rather boorish — though he has some of the funniest lines in any Nancy Drew game — and is guilty of a lot, though not of haunting his own castle.
Casting Markus as the villain would have made this game an entirely different faerietale, one that would have necessitated Anja becoming The Girl in the Dress rather than Nancy. It might have been a more stereotypical Nancy Drew story, but it also would have been weaker – after all, a lot of the horror in this faerietale comes from the curse having its eyes firmly on Nancy, rather than on her watching it unfold.
Finally, our most divisive character is probably Renate Stoller, a cake-loving storyteller bound to Castle Finster by a mixture of fate and history. Personally speaking, I’m a total fan of Renate; she has a lot of freedom to liken the situation to stories and to spell out the fact that all stories are ambiguous without being morally relativist or faux-deep.
As a villain, Renate would have been interesting — set to haunt the castle that has haunted her for so long and caused her pain — but it would have removed the Storyteller archetype from the game, causing the player (and Nancy) to doubt everything she’s said, which would have been a shame.
The Favorite:
There’s a lot to love in CAP, both big and small, so I’ll try to tackle this section with some sort of organization, rather than just gushing from point to random point.
My favorite moment in the game is (in a stunning change from 90% of Nancy Drew Games) tied between the beginning and the final confrontation. The old-time film style beginning (a great example of a “cold open” of a type of horror totally distinct from SAW’s brand of horror) through Nancy’s first discussion with Karl is tightly paced and incredibly well done, introducing our main problems, a few characters, and how Nancy is stepping into this faerietale that’s been all but prepared for her. Special shout out to Karl’s “huge monster problem” dialogue, and Lukas’ getting caught at the castle’s gates — just some really great, distinct character writing that we normally don’t get this soon into a game.
The confrontation, which is normally somewhat cheesy, sometimes awful, and nearly always ill-supported (HAU being the best/worst example of this) in a Nancy Drew game, here instead shows off Nancy’s quick thinking and almost triumphant, smug nature when she figures it all out and traps the villain. The games coming up, as I’ve mentioned above, I refer to as “the Nancy games”, as they give us a lot of insight into who Nancy Drew actually is, aside from an amateur/burgeoning professional detective, but SAW and (to a larger extent) CAP really start giving us peeks at Nancy’s character — not as an infallible main character, but as a girl with an actual personality.
My favorite puzzle in the game — and I realize that it barely counts — is quite honestly Raid. Normally, the games that HER comes up with as minigames within their games are lackluster at best and criminally annoying at worst, but Raid (along with the games in ASH which are particularly enjoyable) is fabulous; it gives us more of that faerietale vibe that the game runs on, brings in Germany’s well-deserved reputation of being the King of Board Games, and actually contains a few moments of good characterization for Karl as well.
And I’m a sucker for getting to create your own card for the game. That’s just stupid cool.
One of the things that CAP does particularly well is its characters, so let’s talk a bit about them here.
Renate, a common favorite, mostly lives up to her hype, due to her storyteller’s dialogue, status as a Sage (slightly different from the usual Sage in a Nancy Drew game, due to her backstory), and intense relatability with falling asleep after eating cake.
Lukas is one of the few child characters in the ND games that actually feels like a child, so he gets points there automatically, even without noting how charming he is. Having Nancy talk to him under the table is also gold, even with the sense that she’s just humoring him, and having him dress up as a monster in a fake out that fools nobody (and even better, is not meant from a writing standpoint to fool anyone) feels perfectly in character for a relatively unsupervised rapscallion like Lukas.
Last on the favorite character list is Anja, a character done To Perfection. It breaks my heart sometimes that she’s the villain, but her character also wouldn’t be complete without being the villain — nor would I love her so much. Anja is patient, loving, a great aunt, friendly, gregarious — and a villain. Her line when she’s talking to Nancy about how she was honest and worked hard every day, and no one cared hits me every time. Anja’s a perfect example of a character who is intensely sympathetic and quite relatable without ever having the thought that her scheme involving Nancy was even a little bit okay. She’s a villain that I’d love to have come back, whether as a villain again or as a begrudging helper.
Finally, let’s get down to the miscellany.
The dialogue in CAP is pitch-perfect, from the distinct way of talking that each suspect has, to Markus’ insults, to the one-off phone call with the pamphlet company. The game in part is so fun because the dialogue is so fun, walking the line between faerietale-style narration (Anja, Renate) and almost Buffy-speak modernity (Karl, Lukas, Markus).
The last thing I want to touch on it — yes, you knew it was coming — the fight between Ned and Nancy. Yes, I’m a Francy shipper, and I do love that Frank is the one Nancy turns to for help with the fight, but that’s not what this part is about.
First off, I love that problems that would /necessarily/ come up in a relationship like Ned and Nancy’s are brought up here; Nancy’s constant jet-setting, while a common side effect of the job she does, is also something that would cause tension — especially considering that Nancy doesn’t really tell him when she sets off for another state/country at a moment’s notice.
A thing that has become Increasingly obvious over the entire series is that Nancy is, let’s face it, not gonna win any awards for Girlfriend of the Year, and in fact might win the opposite award. Ned is constantly giving her attention, validation, helping out when she calls him, and is understanding when she cancels; for her to not give the same amount of care to him (in different ways, as everyone needs different things, of course) becomes more and more glaring as time goes on.
My firm stance on being a bit anti-Nedcy comes from the belief that Ned deserves to get as much out of a relationship as he puts in, and Nancy, as the person she is and even as the best person that she can be, just can’t provide that. Their needs as people are just too different for a relationship to be fair for either person – and, as this game demonstrates, though Ned has the shorter end of the stick, it’s not fair for either one of them.
The Un-Favorite:
There’s not a lot that goes into this section, to be perfectly honest.
The forest is probably my least favorite section of the game — the part that I consider before starting a new game over — but besides tweaking it slightly to help navigation not be quite so frustrating (see below), even the forest is a pretty good puzzle.
The bag puzzle — especially if you, like me, forget every time that you can rotate the objects in Renate’s purse — is the only other annoyance in the game, and ranks as my least favorite puzzle over the forest simply for the fact that you can use a walkthrough to navigate the forest, while you can’t use a walkthrough to do the bag puzzle for you.
Other than that, CAP is just a wholly solid game — no least favorite dialogue, no awkward moment, no point where I turn down my brightness to make it seem like This Isn’t Happening.
The Fix:
So how would I fix The Captive Curse?
Honestly, the first and only change I would make is to fix the forest just slightly. I get that it’s a puzzle, but it’s not quite visually distinct enough to make it feasible for a lot of players to learn how to navigate. To fix this, I wouldn’t take out the forest, I would just make each piece of it a little more visually distinct, with more markers so that players couldn’t lose their place as easily.
There’s nothing other than that worth fixing. Even my dislike of the bag puzzle isn’t strong enough to suggest scrapping it, and it’s a type of puzzle that many people like and are quite good at — not to mention the fact that it’s not at all gamebreaking in its difficulty.
The Captive Curse is often sort of a “top middle” or just “middle” ranking for a lot of players due to the fact that it’s not quite as showy as a lot of “favorite” games, and thus can get lost in the fandom shuffle. But looking at it as both pieces and as a whole proves that this game is one of the most solid in the series sporting a great mystery, fantastic characters, and more than a little faerietale wisdom to carry to the next story.

i feel like b*ddie stans get more mad over taylor wanting to use the whole footage instead of the cut version more than bobby stans, and as a bobby stan i’m not even that mad about it because like it never happened so there’s nothing to really be mad about anyways
Okay honestly? I get pissed off about it to, but probably for different reasons than a lot of people do.
It seems like a good 80% of the reason why certain b*ddies (not all of them... just some of them) use that to hate on her is because they see her as a threat to their ship so they have to discredit her in any way they can.
And the thing is? I legitimately hated her for it in season 2. I absolutely adored her character, but I hated her for that.
But here's the thing.
In filming Bobby up on the roof? She was literally doing her job. She wasn't sure exactly what was going on - she figured out that the fudge had been laced with something, but not why. It could have been part of a systematic attack on fire houses, or it might not have been. At that point in time, she didn't know. And the fact of the matter is, it's her job to film and document important events as they happen if she is there while they are happening. She needed to get that footage just in case it became important later to have it.
Where she becomes despicable is when she decided she wanted to use it to exploit Bobby and the 118. In real life, not one single frame of that footage would have been put anywhere once her station figured out what had really happened. I actually have a few different stories that I could share to prove my point but honestly I'm too lazy to right now.
But the point is? She didn't cross a line in filming it. She crossed the line in the reason why she wanted to keep filming it, and in wanting to use it because she thought it would further her career, regardless of who she hurt in the process.
Now here's the other thing.
She grew from that! She might have originally been intended to be a one-off character, but Megan is so charismatic and had such good chemistry with the cast that they just wanted to bring her back. And they developed and grew her, and we saw that she went from somebody who is willing to do whatever it takes - exploit whoever she has to - to get her story, to someone who finally gets what Buck was trying to tell her that "To [Bobby], we're not the story. We're just here to make sure no story ends before it should."
She stops seeing stories as a way to further her career, and stops seeing them as ways to see other people - who they are, what they need, how they love. The story becomes about other people, and stops being about herself. And that is some incredibly beautiful development, and it would not have been as strong and as meaningful as it is if she hadn't started off wanting to exploit somebody we love.
And it makes her character all the more likeable and enjoyable to watch

Themes and Morality Of Nancy Drew
SCK: Secrets can Kill. No literally. Piecing together everyone’s secrets and blackmailing them like a manipulative puppetmaster will get you killed.
STfD: Don’t be an incel.
MHM: Being a criminal is okay if it was a couple hundred years ago and involved a love story, but if you’re a pasty middle aged man- no. Greed is Bad.
TRT: Don’t trust everyone who’s nice to you because they might stab you in the back. Also people are complicated and all do good and bad things (and all parents keep a creepy record of all the good and bad things their children do).
FIN: You should prioritize people over personal gain (everyone tries to use Maya’s disappearance for their own gain and Nancy is the only one who cares about her), law enforcement can be apathetic (Fight the Power), and sometimes you will be swindled out of the compensation and respect that you deserve, but you have to move on.
SSH: Stealing artifacts from their country of origin is bad. Maybe. We’re leaving it up in the air.
DOG: Rules can be annoying. Your country bands alcohol? Your park ranger gives you stupid fines for stupid reasons? Annoying. But you should still have a sense of right and wrong. Don’t kill a teenage girl with a bone over gold.
CAR: Even if your parents mess up or don’t give you as much attention as you want, they still deeply care about you and will forgive you when you are angry and broken and very whiny.
DDI: You probably shouldn’t use wild animals to do crimes. You also probably shouldn’t domesticate wild animals in the first place. But if they’re already domesticated, eh, play games with them I guess. Also if people assume you’ve gone crazy because your husband died, just lean into it.
SHA:  Being a criminal is okay if it was a couple hundred years ago and involved a love story, but if you’re a pasty middle aged man- no. Greed is Bad.
CUR: Your parents might get divorced, and it’s tough, but it’s not an accuse to terrorize and possibly kill your stepmother. Also, traditions are about bringing the generations closer together, not squirreling away secret power to feel a sense of superiority.
CLK: Don’t make reckless economic decisions. Check if your godmother is really your godmother. Most importantly: if you’re an elderly gay man in 1930, don’t trust your bottom. He might fake a will when you die and steal everything.
TRN: Friendship is the best treasure of all :). Also don’t be a Karen.
DAN: Patriotism comes in many forms. Sometimes it means doing what you know will get you called traitor. Also not all Germans in WWII were bad? I don’t think HeR thought out the optics
CRE: If you owe money to some bad people, you should not use a chemical that will increase the bug population that will destroy the pineapple crop that will make the land that you used to own cheap enough to buy back. Is that the plot of this game? I don’t know. I don’t even know where they were trying going with this. It’s kinda a hot mess. They also said Hawaiians ‘abandoned’ their culture so honestly the morality is kinda mute at this point.
No. Wait. I figured it out. If a country takes over your homeland for capitalist means, become a hard-nosed capitalist yourself. Rip off the white people.
ICE: Again, you really shouldn’t domesticate wild animals. I mean if one’s already domesticated I guess it’s fine to play with them. Also radioactive substances are cool and you should play with them.
CRY: Sometimes people love you from a distance. But if someone is constantly making their love conditional and manipulating you for their own gain, drop them like a hot potato.
VEN: Intelligence does not excuse crime (Helena and the mob boss she was researching were both clearly intelligent, but they both did bad things). Also sometimes stealing and working for a gang is okay if you’re working for the police?
HAU: Sometimes people will play a prank and run away right before your wedding but it’s fine because love forgives all? No. That’s not right.
If your entire family dies live in the bog for eighty years and fly around on a jetpack to scare the locals? Yes. Perfect.
RAN: Don’t hold grudges. Don’t do blackface.
WAC: So there was a post by @nancythedrew that popped into my head inspired this whole post but for the LIFE OF ME I can’t find it but I think the gist of it was: If you and your identical twin commit fraud by pretending to be one person, it’s okay as long as you were doing it for the noble cause of education. I mean, you were doing half the work as everyone else was and you’ll have to attend college as one person, but it’s fine. You’re fine. And while we’re at it, if you steal your roommate’s boyfriend, whatever. Highschool is highschool.
TOT: Did you ever have that really moody entitled college professor? Sometimes they’re not actually misunderstood. Sometimes they’re just an asshole. Don’t let yourself become that asshole.
SAW: Tradition is important, but it should not be placed over happiness. True family does not control and manipulate you to keep you close.
CAP: Fairy tales and legends are often just a cover for the horrible tragedies that never came to light.
ASH: Corrupt people will manipulate mob mentality into getting their way. It’s important to go against the grain if you feel the mob is wrong.
TMB: Why do people search for history? Is it for money? Is it for notoriety? Is it to respect their ancestors? Always question your motives. Always question if they are good or bad.
DED: Discovery should be made for the advancement of humankind, not profit.
GTH: History ignored will repeat itself. It’s easy to bury family secrets with shame, but forgiveness is never out of reach.
SPY: Selflessness taken to the extreme hurts the people who love you. If you constantly worry yourself with your demons, it’s easy to forget that.
MED: ...if your kid’s grandpa believes... in aliens... you shouldn’t keep their grandpa away... because then the kid get this weird attachment to them and dedicate their entire life to aliens? Also aliens might be real?! WHAT IS THIS GAME?!
LIE: I could probably piece together a theme if I knew what the tartarus was going on in this game but... I don’t know... women trapped in darkness/mental illness can overcome it and become queens? Having a rough life and falling into a bad situation doesn’t mean you’re a bad person? Gods there was so much potential if only if they just exPlAiNED THinGs
SEA: The shame of long lasting discrimination (xenophobia, homophobia, etc.) can fester into resentment and lead people down a bad path.
MID: Don’t assume that someone committed arson because they were burned in a fire when they were nine years old?! Think twice before condemning, otherwise history might repeat itself. (It’s essentially the theme of GTH and ASH combined).

Hitoshi Shinso X Reader part 24
Y/n didn’t come to school for a few more days. She was on her retreat, so Shinso’s avoidance was kinda pointless. He still didn’t practice his quirk control because he’s afraid to ask someone to practice his quit on someone.
Sonny and Benny went to the gym with class A. They were mostly just lifting weights and cardio. He never seen them really train their quirks, but then again that’s probably what their hero teachers are for.
The door opened to reveal Y/n in casual clothes. She held Benny’s workout bag. There was a clear reason why she came, to drop off something of her friends. Shinso still didn’t even know what to say to her. ‘Hey how have you been, last time I saw you you were getting harassed.’
Sadly/luckily someone else caught her attention. Bakugo had ran up to her.
“Where have you been, dumbass? Avoiding a rematch?” He asked her hitting her shoulder.
No one was really expecting that from Bakugo. They couldn’t tell if he wanted to see her or smack her. Shinso looked around and couldn’t find Benny or Sonny anywhere.
“I was on a training retreat.” She told Bakugo, but her voice didn’t seem right.
“Are you gonna fight me or what?” Bakugo asked. “I’ve been making new moves.”
“I-I guess we can.” She said putting the bag down.
Shinsou zeroed in on her hands and saw them shaking. Bakugo and Y/n went outside to the front of the gym. He knew something wasn’t right. Through the glass he was able to see the beginning of the fight. They got in their stances and then charged. Bakugo aimed for her head, but she was able to duck quickly. However it was a trap. With his other hand. Bakugo grabbed her wrist which was covering her face. The look in her eyes was the same terrified look she had, she wasn’t prepared. Bakugo couldn’t see it, he just thought he was winning. He let the explosion go off and threw her into the cement. Shinso rushed outside. Y/n was on her side, her limbs vibrating. Her arm covered her face.
“What? Get up. You can’t be going easy on me. You dodged that last time.” Bakugo said, walking towards her.
Aizawa also came out of the gym after hearing explosions. It was a quick patch up of the story looking at the scene.
“What were you doing?” Aizawa asked Bakugo, getting time the girl’s side.
“I asked her to a rematch. She can’t be hurt, last time she-“
Bakugo stopped as he saw Aizawa lift her arm up. The skin on her wrist was scorched. Her eyes were tight shut and tears were pouring out on her cheeks. Her teeth were clenched.
“(Last name), can you hear me? Can you get up.” Aizawa asked.
She nodded her head, but her facial expression remained the same. Shinso got to her side.
“Let me help.” He said.
“I don’t understand she was fine-“
“Bakugo now is not the time!” Aizawa growled.
Getting tossed into the cement didn’t help his case. She hissed in pain as Shinso tried to peel her off the sidewalk.
“I’m fine!” She cried, still her eyes sealed shut.
Shinso remembered why she wanted to hold on to the strong act. If anything goes wrong she would probably lose all hope of becoming a hero. Bakugo got tired of how this gentle act was going to take forever. So he took her by the arms and pulled her to her feel. She winced, but didn’t complain.
“I’m gonna call recovery girl, get her to the gym’s back office.” Aizawa said.
Shinso and Bakugo went under her arms and dragged her without making a scene. Y/n probably didn’t even know who was helping her since she kept her eyes shut. They sat her on the couch in the back office.
“What happened! I’ve seen you do way better than this?” Bakugo asked crossing his arms.
“That’s what matters right now?” Shinso growled.
The muffled sobs stopped their bickering. Y/n covered her face with her hands trying to be as silent as she could, but both males were trying to listen for a response from.
“Let me look at it.” Bakugo said, reaching for her burnt wrist.
“Bakugo, you’ve done enough.” Shinso said.
“I’m fine….”she whispered out a sob.
This only irritated Bakugo. Now she was lying to him? He grabbed her arms and took them out of her face.
“You’re clearly not! Look I’m-“ bakugo yelled.
Shinso went to try and pull Bakugo off Y/n, but the door slammed opened. It was Sonny. She saw the teary face of her (nickname) and her expression harden. Benny stood behind her.
“Out! Now!” Sonny yelled.
“You’re not the-“ bakugou yelled.
“Did I stutter?” She took bakugou by the shirt “you too Shinso!” She barked.
They didn’t remember being on the other side of the door, but there were, with Benny who was eating a protein bar.
“What the fuck!” Bakugo groaned.
“She got all mama bear on you two.” Benny said. “What happened?”
“Bakugo hurt Y/n.” Shinso hissed at the blond.
“She agreed to a rematch.”
“Jesus Christ. She’s only been home for probably like a half hour.” Benny sighed. “Listen next time don’t challenge her after she used her quirk for a long time. She can’t think straight and she’s always gonna say yes because she wants to prove herself.” Benny said.
“That’s her fault for agreeing.” Bakugo argued.
“Put someone else’s need first for once. She doesn’t exactly have the most stable path to becoming a hero! You already have name recognition and a school with endless resources to help you succeed.” Benny said. “Everyone is trying to talk her out of being a hero so she can just be some miracle healer at a hospital. Every wrong step, every loss, feels like a sign to give up,  but guess what she’s still trying.”
Bakugo looked away and sighed. It wasn’t that he believed she ddI t have what it takes to be a hero, it was that he didn’t know how to talk to her. She wanted to show off her quirk to him and even sparred with him. What’s he do? Blast her into the ground.
“She’ll forgive so don’t pout too much. She  had a lot of patiences, but if you use too much, I’ll make you blast your own face off.” Benny said. “What were you doing Shinso?”
“I was just worried about her.”‘ Shinso said. “Her hands were shaking.”
Aizawa came back but not with recovery girl.
“I couldn’t get ahold of recovery girl, but there’s a first aid kit in there.” Aizawa said.
“Can it deal with burns?” Benny asked.
“Yeah, it’s part of the training to become a teacher here.” Aizawa explained.
Aizawa went into the room to find Sonny comforting her friend. The short glimpse Shinso got gave him an image of Y/n with her face in her friend’s lap as she pats her hair.
He wasn’t special. The only reason why she called him that night verse Sonny, Benny, and Bakugo was because the first two would get there in time and Bakugo would be asleep. She called Shinsou knowing he would be awake and nearby. If anyone saved her, she would share the bed and cuddle whoever. Not because of anything wrong, but that was who she was. She needed affection. She needed to be told things would be okay with a head pat.
“Where’s thst healer that works here?” Sonny asked.
“Probably in bed.” Aizawa said. “I can help though.”
“She’s gonna scat.” Sonny said.
“Even if recovery girl made it, (last name) would scar anyway.”
“I’m fine, really.” Y/n said, clearly in pain.
Aizawa already knew the situation she was in. It was why he tried getting her to UA in the first place, but after the first year he would never be able to prove UA was a safe school. He was also to figure out the nature of Y/n’s quirk with her around more. It wasn’t exactly a healer’s quirk, but rather a body manipulation quirk or a cell manipulation quirk. Healers can only close wounds or at best fix broken bones. The hospital’s board thinks soon Y/n will be able to get rid of tumors. It’s not terrible, but it’s too much pressure on a high school student. He did have a selfish reason for wanting her to become a hero, a quirk like hers on the battle field would be able to help more accidents. If she could heal heros, they wouldn’t take up medical staff at hospitals.
“Just relax.” Aizawa told the girl as he began cleaning the burn wound.
Sonny held her ex’s free hand as she choked on the pain.  Sonny sighed knowing a scolding was hopeless. Her friend had always been insecure about her fighting abilities, even when she was catching up she couldn’t use her quirk to defend herself. She’d have a to take up a weapon or a fighting style, which both she has done. But it was hard for her to watch how effortlessly her friends can harm another with their brute force. Benny using his gravity quirk to sink his opponents to the ground, while Sonny could just light them on fire. If a punch isn’t hard enough or a kick isn’t swift enough against someone rally strong, Y/n would be done for. So she improved her mobility in order to dodge attacks and tire out her opponents, but she was still relying on her teammates to finish the job. It was stupid to accept every chance to fight, but then again she was fried from her retreat so she wasn’t thinking clearly.
“You need to give yourself a break, (nickname)” Sonny commented. “No school, no work,  no training and maybe you’ll figure yourself out some more. Learn what you need to.”
“I’d fall behind if I did that.” Y/n said.
“You won’t be useful to your friends if you exhaust your quirk though.” Aizawa said.
“Oh are you apart of girl talk now?” Sonny asked.
“(Last name) shouldn’t have to drop everything, but she does deserve a break. You’ve been healing a lot of heroes I heard.” Aizawa said.
“Oh yeah, I forgot about that.” Sonny said. “Trying to increase your overall endurance?”
Y/n nodded. Destroy the body’s pushing it to the limits to have it regrow into a stronger vessel. She was always told she was perfect by so many strangers, job, schooling, training, a perfect balance. But honestly she was afraid to relax and let go. Even on her off time she feels like she’s never doing enough and she’s running out of time. Her act was going to be up soon and everyone will know she’s a fraud faking under pressure.
“Recovery Girl offered to mentor you. If you don’t mind me prying, why didn’t you take it?” Aizawa asked.
Over a year ago, Y/n revived her recommendation to UA, something she was not planning. A lot of heros were her family’s clients. They met the young girl, surprised by her healing quirk. Her parents weren’t exactly happy someone went behind their back trying to get Y/n to become a hero. It was a steadier deal to become a doctor/healer. However they still made her tour the school where she met Eraserhead. Sure he looked weird, was kinda stiff, but he tried to get her to consider instead of telling her she didn’t have the heart. Then she met recovery girl, the kindest, wisest woman. Having similar quirks, she offered immediately to mentor Y/n. Y/n’s initial reaction was to reject it, she didn’t want to grow up too fast. She didn’t want things to change even though they already were. Her friends were going to different schools, people wanted her to spend her time healing more people!  Recovery girl said the offer still stands.
Weeks went on and Y/n felt like an idiot. Her friends weren’t picking their schools because of Y/n so why should she pick her future around her friends? The answer was she was scared. She was scared she wasn’t the healer the world thought she was. She just didn’t want to be looked at or seen the way she’d always been.
“You’re so rotten.”
It was how she fell for Sonny. They’d been close for so many years. Sonny was one of the first to get into fights with Y/n and call her out for her timid flaws. She was commanding and demanding. If she didn’t get what she wanted then she fought for it. Y/n was utterly shocked how her friend was just so different from her. But she also feared Sonny was the only one real with her. People wanted a healer so the world could be a little less painful. They would say anything to make Y/n feel confident in herself, even if it was a lie. But Sonny told her the first thoughts that came into her mind. There was no filter, there was no concern for altering the future.
“If you have people using you for your healing powers just let them suffer, honestly, you’re not a god Y/n.”
She wasn’t the sweetest most nurturing person in the world, but her words would lift some pressure off Y/n’s shoulders. They started working out together. When jogging and boxing Y/n felt more of the pressure release. She was moving, moving for herself and on her own. While working out she was able to discover more about her own thoughts. She hated waiting for someone to heal, it’s like a slab of meat being thrown in front of you being told to fix it. She’d rather hunt for it, heal because she would feel the need to, not because it was thrown into her face. But that’s how she learned she could heal in more ways than one, so it wasn’t totally useless.
“You’re bad person, but not because of your complicated feelings toward your quirk, but because you refuse to acknowledge what you do to those around you.”
Y/n had always been “nice”. Maybe even “guibile” and “doll-like”. She’d do anything to lessen another’s pain and would do anything told to her. Because she was losing herself in other’s commands, she didn’t feel much, but they sure did. If she would have just said “no” instead of falling in line to a steward way of life she wouldn’t break so many hearts, confused why she cared so much about their happiness to only not love them back. She only cared because they didn’t know her quirk and they asked for her.
“I felt like the hospital needed me more.” She lied.
Aizawa accepted the answer, even though he knew she was lying. She wasn’t one of his students, but he knew her enough. He wouldn’t take it personally, already knowing the pressure she’d be under with such a blessing of a quirk.
Benny and Sonny took Y/n home. It’s been awhile since all three were together, like old times. No dating drama came up either. She looked at Sonny. Sonny has some hurtful things I’ve the years, but also some of the most special lines. Maybe they were losing meaning(l, but Y/n decided that it would be best to let it go, the idea Sonny would love her forever whether Y/n wanted her or not. Those lines would have special places in her heart, but also wanted Sonny to find happiness even if it wasn’t Y/n. Because it wouldn’t be fair now that her heart was beating for someone new.
Aizawa basically gave Bakugo the don’t let your ego get too big. Context matters when it comes to challenging someone. He also gave Shinso a scolding that he needed to trust his gut more to stop things form getting bad. Y/n would be fine, but she would have a scar from the last battle.
Both male students went up to their dorm in silence. All Shinso wanted to do was protect Y/n from any sort of pain, and he just watched Bakugo blow her up even though he knew it wasn’t right. He just remembers her hand twitching. Shinso opened his door and sighed. He looked over and Bakugo. He slammed his door loudly. He heard a muffled scream covered by the walls.
At least he didn’t mess up as bad as Bakugo.

Lessons I learned from the Games
Most of this is just silly, some are actual lessons.
SCK/SCK2:
If you’re going to get murdered, get revenge by leaving clues to the blackmail you have on potential suspects and hope to god someone figures it out
If you’re investigating a crime, being a random transfer student at the end of the year is probably not the way to go, but no one cares because they’re too busy with college applications.
If your niece is coming to your place to investigate a murder and you’re not there, the least you can do is set up a cage to trap any possible break-ins.
Nothing beats being able to hold a gun to the murderer #whySCKremastered???
Teens dealing with pressures to meet college and parental demands
Teens resorting to drugs

Meet the Clue Crew: Over/Under Tell us three things that you think are way over-rated and three things that you think are way under-rated. You can keep it strictly ND-related, or show us another side of you. Once you’ve shared, pass this message along to anyone else you’d like to include! (If you’re not feeling it, save it for later or hit delete—I won’t mind!)
Thanks for the ask :3 u rock my frien
hmmmm I’ll do a mix lol
Three things that are overrated:
Star Wars. I just recently finally watched all the movies and while I enjoy them and the world I feel like people act like they’re the best movies known to man kind and I don’t get it lol  (people are however entitled to what they enjoy!! And especially if you’re like it’s 100% nostalgia that is completely valid. I just met some toxic fans in highschool that were really rude about me not liking them at first and got a tad bit scarred lol). And while the new trilogy is RIDDLED with problems they obvi look way prettier and the action is more intense because they aren’t from the 1970s and that’s the truth don’t @ me fanboys XDDD
The Haunted Carousel. I know this is a really big favorite for some people and I completely get it, I am so happy they enjoy it!!!! It’s just I went into the game wanting so many more spooks and it has basically nothing scary. The plot is also chill but like Ingrid is almost an after thought of a character, and I feel that unlike some of the other games around it’s time there isn’t much to really sink your teeth into. It has the simplicity of DDI but not the same level of atmosphere (or at least atmosphere I enjoy) or solid story.
Even though it hurts my soul to say this, also Ghost Of Thornton Hall SIMPLY because I freaking hate the puzzles in that game. Not as much as LIE but they’re not the best. But I do really love that game so I do think it deserves a lot of praise.
underrated:
Secret of the Scarlet Hand. I know that some of the puzzles are really really tedious, and there are kinda too many phone calls but this game is just so interesting to me. I love how it starts off with Nancy just doing an internship and then you realize something might be coming and then the theft happens and everything just kinda falls apart and Nancy has to put it all back together. I just feel like the plot is really well conceptualized, as well as the whole back plot of two very important characters and kinda how this has all been going on before Nancy came into the picture.
John Grey!!!! Seriously I love this guy so much idk why. I think it was because out of all the suspects in TRN he is the nicest to Nancy. He also makes fun of the other dumb characters which I love and when you talk to him about ghost stuff he’s still really reasonable. Like he does tell you that the lights you see are scientific, not paranormal. I just feel like he’s an all around chill smart dude and I’ve always enjoyed talking to him in TRN. (. Why does Tino get to come back but not John wth HeR)
Of the top of my head the next thing is Phantom of Venice? Like it’s definitely really weird at times but the spy energy is AWESOME and literally so many awesome things happen in that game. It’s iconic.
Whew that was long, sorry haha. But honestly I think this fandom is really good at spotlighting everything in the franchise, so good job you guys :)
Thanks again for the ask!!

SWAMP THING #17-20 OCTOBER 1983 - JANUARY 1984 BY MARTIN PASKO, LEN WEIN, ALAN MOORE, STEVE BISSETTE, BERNIE WRIGHTSON, DAN DAY, JOHN TOTLEBEN AND TATJANA WOOD
SYNOPSIS (FROM DC DATABASE)
Swamp Thing encounters Abby Cable, learns of her marriage to the now-alcoholic Matt Cable, and is attacked by a powerful monster materialized from Matt's mind. Harry Kay, having wandered off, gets stuck in a bear trap and is retrieved by the occupant of a strange insect-ship-- Anton Arcane.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Swamp Thing, Matt, and Abby are overwhelmed by the monsters from Matt's brain, Arcane tells the captive Harry Kay the story of his last encounter with Swamp Thing. Then he tells his Un-Men to prepare Kay for the “metamorphosis.”
Matt Cable wills away his mind-monsters and reveals how DDI electroshock treatments administered by Dennis Barclay to make him reveal what he knew of the biorestorative formula rendered him incapable of being an agent. Later, Anton Arcane, who has been rebuilt by his Un-Men with an insect body, captures Swamp Thing and Abby.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Swamp Thing visits the site of the crashed ship where Anton Arcane is supposed to have died. Despite knowing that Arcane couldn't have survived the crash, he needs to see the corpse before he can truly be satisfied that his nemesis is finally and truly dead.
Elsewhere, the Sunderland Corporation and the DDI have discovered where Swamp Thing and his friends are, and plan to kill them all because of what they know. General Sunderland is pleased with the idea that they won't know what's coming, as his men will catch them with their guard down.
Lizabeth Tremayne and Dennis Barclay wake up in their broken down van. As they begin walking home, it becomes all too clear that Dennis thinks there is something more between the two of them than Lizabeth feels. She stops him and explains that all they have in common is the horror in their lives, and that if they ever really got together, they'd hate each other. Unfortunately, Dennis is hurt, and storms off ahead of her. Behind them, several helicopters drone overhead.
Swamp Thing returns to the motel to meet Liz and Dennis, but they have not arrived yet. He wonders if perhaps he and Arcane were meant to live in another time, when monsters like them would be more at home. Perhaps, he thinks, the world has run out of room for monsters.
Tumblr media
Elsewhere, Abby returns home to meet Matt Cable. She explains how Swamp Thing went to look at the wreckage of Arcane's ship, and how he had worried that Matt was the one who caused the monsters and horrors that they saw recently. Matt admits that, while he didn't know it, he was the cause - but that he's beaten it. He claims that the horrors were caused by an attack he had, but that while she was out, he had fought it, and overcome it. He tries to instigate some love-making, but Abby is too shaken by events to go through with it. He relents, and she goes for a walk without him. With Abby gone, Matt returns to drinking. He had lied to her about managing to overcome the visions. Instead of destroying them, he had simply learned to control them.
Back at the hotel, Liz has a difficult time convincing the proprietress to give her the key to her room so she can get the medical bag from inside it. Finally, a man named Hec "Dallas" Brandon takes the key himself and offers to retrieve the bag. Meanwhile, the clerk struggles to recall a name that was mentioned by people who had recently entered the hotel room. Despite her confusion, the name is obviously Sunderland, and moments later, the room explodes as Hec Brandon opens the door.
Meanwhile, Sunderland's men start burning down the forest that Swamp Thing is hiding in. At the same time, a helicopter destroys the Cables' home, but fortunately, neither of them are inside it. Angrily, Swamp Thing begins attacking the soldiers, but he is outnumbered. He tries to run away, but his body is riddled with bullets, and he falls to the ground, presumably dead.

REVIEW
The official story says that Martin Pasko left the series to become a TV writer (we are perhaps more familiar with his work for the Batman Animated Series). But the ending of his run is so full of twists and turns that is is hard to believe Moore was able to make sense of all the plots that were left open for him to close.
It’s not a bad run, but it is amazing that Moore took all of it and made it his own. At least for one issue.
I like these issues the most, out of the whole volume until this point. Mostly because it brought back the Arcanes and Matt Cable (a character I hated, but having his carbon copy stand-ins wasn’t better either).
What I really like about the last issue, though, is how the story changes into something deeper, pondering if there is still room for monsters in a world that has changed so much. Swampy even feels jealous of Arcane for dying. Lucky him, he dies in the end.
And that is another thing I really like about this ending, it starts a new chapter for the Swamp Thing that completely redefined him. He will no longer be tied to one body, which made most of these stories a bit limited (as he needed to actually travel by foot everywhere).
We also got some answers about Linda Holland, but not enough as to why they needed to do that autopsy.
Dan Day is as good as Bissette, but a bit more “american gothic”, I really enjoy his layouts.
There is a reprint issue in the middle of this arc, so Wrightson and Wein managed to somehow creep up in this volume. Sure, Arcane may have felt like a strange character for new readers, but I am not sure the issue needed to be reprinted.
I give this story a score of 9

Summary: I may be out of the storm. but I know that a new one will soon appear. But when it does I know i’ll be prepared for it. Fore I have learned to love such rain, it makes me appreciate  the sun more.
A/N: Another 2 parter but don’t worry I will uplode the second one Asap 💕
Y/N slowly awoke. Her face ached and she felt a little stiff but a little bit comfortable as she stirred awake. Looking around she only saw black, a hint of the fire light that was in the room was poking in form the thick curtains that covered around the bed. She struggled to get out of the soft bed due to her sore right arm that she put pressure on every few seconds. The bed was huge and felt like silk. The thick warm covers on top of her were a bit heavy but understably so since when She remembered Eve’s soft touch as she held her in her arms, Eve felt lifelessly chilling.
‘Wait..Where am I?’
While being late on this idea she continued to wiggle out of bed and into the warm light of the fire place within the room. She smelled something delicious and also sweet. Looking forward she saw the black coffee table and couch in front of the fireplace. The table held food and some water. Her stomach grumbled loud at the sight and beautiful smell of the spread. Quickly she sat down and stuffed her face with the delicious food. Humming at the wonderful many tastes. Taking this time to relax she looked around. She was definitely not at the Bloomington's manner anymore and was now in the master bedroom of who she would only assume Adam and Eve.  As she regained her memory from when she was last awake she slowly ceced to eat. All that went through her head was the fight between herself and Madeline. She knew that she shouldn’t be thinking of someone so selfish and so vile as the creature that was Mrs.Bloomington yet she couldn’t help it. All the memories that she had with her when they were small. All the laughs and the days when things got the lowest of them all. She remembered that Madeleine was there to help her. Did she miss her then? Yes and both no. She loved her best friend but knew well that the person she saw before blacking out was no longer her Madeline. While she did still love her she knew that her soul wouldn’t have been safe around her. Jealousy, greed, anger, and the corruption through time had made her into something Y/N no longer liked nore recognized.
After taking a large gulp of her water she sighed and stood up. She no longer wanted to remind herself about her old life if she wasn’t to go back to it. She had this chance to move forward. She was to be grateful for it by trying to renew herself and respecting herself.
Snapping out of her head she saw that the room had the colors of red, deep red, black and gold. Hints of white were shown but not many. The carpet was beautiful like the rest of the room and covered most of the wood that laid beneath it.
‘Maybe to not get splinters’
She thought. She looked to her right and saw two closed doors one had a black handel, the other black. She wondered where the doors might have led to and or what they held. She stopped thinking once she heard the door behind her open. Sarrah poked her head out form the large dark chocolate door and smiled at Y/N.
“Good your up. How are you feeling?”
“..Misplaced..But new. What happened and why does my face ache?”
Sarrah sighed
“After you went out Adam heard all of the commotion and to say the least he wasn’t at all happy to see the situation at hand. THe master of the manner was more than angry, I had never in all of my 6 years of working here I had never seen him like that. While I ddi feel safe when Luther and Adam helped through him out, I was quite shocked when the lady followed. I didn’t see what happened downstairs and my lady told me not to inform you further about the people who left this house. Your face is a bit bruised but only one. The other aches and pains i would assume are only temporary. Soon it will all go away. She did tackle you pretty hard though so I thought maybe some darkness would help your head. I heard that it was a good trick to calm the brain a bit more. OH! She and my master also told me to get you dressed and ready to meet them downstairs.”
“Sarrah, please. Maiden to maiden, you must tell me the truth and about them if I am to stay here. Are they at all abu-”
“No. They would never hurt you like that...and in all honesty I think that it was fate for you to be here. I don’t know why but I can just feel it in my bones. You’ll love them Y/N. I know that it may seem scary and all. Yet ever since you stepped foot into this house your eyes took the form of a childs on christmas day. I may have nowhere else to go but the whore house if it weren’t for Adam and Eve but at the same time it sayed her all 6 years for some reason. The main one was that it was safe. Comforting and felt like home. Now come on. We have to get you dressed so we can see just in fact what they might need from you. My lady even said for you to wear one of her favorite dresses.”
Ad sarrah got up from the couch to the closet with the white handel Y/N wanted to take a peak as well. But sarrah stopped her from walking in to the seemingly huge room by walking back out of it. She placed the dress over the couch neatly. Walking over to Y/N she kneeled down and pulled the nightgown over her head. Once she helped her get the dress on she moved Y/N over the the mirror to see herself.
“You look beautiful..my lady sure knows how to pick the most beautiful dresses.”
The corset of the dress was a cream color with the most beautiful of detailed swirls in them that were the same color. The top of the dress that was tucked under the corset but not all the way was pure white and the colar was low cut. The sleeves on the top were puffy and the cuffs slim and snug to the wrists. Same as the top the skirt was tucked underneath the corset though the skirt was close to the same color as the corset. It looked as though the dress was just made but not at the same time. More so the dress was made in a different time. Still beautiful nonetheless.
After helping her with her minimal makeup and shoes sarrha helped walk Y/N down to the huge living room. Once the lovers caught sight of the small woman a hush was sent over them both and luther.
“Oh my, You look wonderful. Thank you greatly Sarrah for taking such good care of her as I knew you would.”
“Anything my lady.”
“Come Please, sit down my darling. We have much to talk about.”
“Am I..In trouble or anything?”
“No no no, We just wanted to know your answer on something..that’s very important.”
Adam was stumbling over his words as he tried to be more confident in the awkward situation since he didn’t want to make Y/N feel uncomfortable but he didn’t know how to deal with most people especially women. Men to him were fine and he wasn’t as uneasy as he was with women. Especially someone so pretty Y/N, she seemed so sweet and confused. Not so much as a delicate flower but one that he still found he wanted to take care of. He now fully understood what Eve was on about before she entered the room. Beyond that her heavenly essence grassed his nose as he took a deep breath in. What secrets she must of held that were as beautiful as she if her blood ran with such utter beauty and grace. Even though if she was around any other vampire they wouldn’t say the same. Blood was different with every human and the same could be said with every vampire that smelled it. Some liked sweet, some liked bitter. But it all depended on the vampire that smelled it. And for the lovers they smitten for such a daisy. Eve had more time to deal with the cravings than adam so she understood her husband as he could be seen trying to seem like his more confident self. How she adores his cute fidgets but at this moment understood and helped him a but by taking his hand in hers and gently squeezing it. Y/N thought the gesture to be really sweet and could feel the love that they had as they both looked into each others eyes. She smiled as she thought about how lovely that would feel. To share what they had..could she?
“Do forgive my husband. He gets very flustered around pretty girls.”
It was hard to notice due to the fire light but Y/N could see Adam slowly starting to sprout a pink shade. She giggled at this and decided to calm his nerves a bit.
“Don’t worry. I’m the same at the moment..”
Adam looked a bit surprised as his heart fluttered more but smiled after a few seconds
‘How sweet’
He thought
“Well you wouldn’t be wrong about that. Now the thing that we must converse with you is, we understand your situation. I did not see all that happened but Sarrah filled in those blanks.”
“We, we want to help your situation and even support you with whatever you want to do. You no longer work for the Bloomington's and now work for us. Yet you are indeed free to leave and go wherever your heart may see fit. We may not know your story but-”
“We can only assume that it’s not a pretty one if that kind of situation happened in public, well rather just in different places. You are a human being and while it is a very very tough world you still have your rights that you’re entitled to.”
“So you would let me stay here..even if chose not to be here for business reasons?”
“Exactly. If you need a place to stay then you are more than welcomed to stay here.”
“You would even give me money? No I just couldn’t take it and it just seems too good to be true and everything. I. I think that even though, you both might be telling me the truth and you want to help me..I don’t even know you both. Vice- versa with you both. I just don’t think it’s right.”
“ What do you think that should happen then because, we have another option that we would like to hear from you about.”
“Well. I would like to hear your other offer then. Just to see the cards.”
“Well, if you do chose to stay with us. We would like for you to be our lady in waiting.”
Y/N was very shocked and sort of confused.
“But sarrah has worked here for much longer than I-”
“If I may speak, i’m happy with wear I am Y/N there's no need to worry about me. I assure you that I love my job and the people who I work for. I respect their choices.”
“Thank you sarah. So? Little dove, your answer please?”
Y/N was silent. She wanted to stay, in all her life she had never felt so comfortable with just being herself and existing. Not afraid to move or to just breathe a single breath of air. She never did feel an ounce of discomfort with the couple the sat in front of her. If anything for the first time she truly felt a small portion of what love was when she stared at Adam and Eve, as she looked at the confidence that they had within each other even though being completely light and day. Adam was a strong man who had tendencies of being isolating and a bit shy but never a man who would let people walk all over him. Eve was similar in the fact that she asked for nothing but respect but was more confident then Adam, she was inviting and soft. Strong in her own way. Y/N wanted to know more about the mysteriously fun couple. What each of them liked, hated, enjoyed, and more. She slowly found herself wanting them to feel the same. Didn’t they already if they wanted her to stay? She decided to trust her gut that screamed out to say yes. Shunning the one thing in the back of her mind that said softly be careful and run. She knew that this voice was built up by fear from Mrs.Bloomington. If she no longer wanted to be chained by this monster, this darkness of a past dilution and all. Then she would have to remind herself that not all people were like that monster. Not evil..
“I will..Yet, you must give me space. My own room and my own clothes. I don’t want to wear a maid outfit.”
“We completely understand, is there anything else that might make you comfortable?”
“No nothing material wise. Yet I have one more thing to ask you. Please..call me Y/N or any pet names that you might like. I assure you..I like them too.”
