I haven't played deltarune yet and only watched some let's plays, but Tenna makes me so unwell. The comment "divorce so bad tv got divorced" Convinced me to check it out lmao.
DELTARUNE CHAPTER 3 SPOILERS‼️‼️‼️
But that's not the point of the post. I just want to speculate on smt I just thought.
Why are Tenna and Spamton on such bad terms?
It might be obvious, but I want to share my view on their relationship. It's probably a common sense, but I don't think Tenna is so pissed off and hurt by Spamton just because he left him and didn't sign his contract.

Tenna is ofc pissed because of that, I'm not denying that, but the real reason, at least for me, is a little bit deeper.
As we all know, Tenna has a LOT of abandonment issues. It's seen through his dialogue with Kris and his desperate desire to be watched, to be seen and to have the audience. It is implied that he did hear a lot of Toriel and Asgore's fights multiple times, but he may be unaware of their divorce or at least he surely doesn't know about Asriel's departure to college. So from his perspective, Tenna was abandoned, plugged out because he became obsolete. He was ultimately abandoned. And we don't know when Tenna was turned off or when he was spending time with Spamton. So he probably lived with this pain for a long time.
Now, this is great and all, but what am I getting at? Well, let's take a look at how Tenna describes the scene of their last meeting (or at least I think it was)
"He suddenly had to take the phone call...But when he picked it up his face went pale... And je ran right out of the room with the receiver hanging!.. So I picked it up. ..... But there was nobody there!"
Tenna doesn't have any knowledge of this entity that was controlling/helping Spamton. So, for him, Spamton got scared of smt that Tenna didn't hear or know existed, and ran away without any explanation. Tenna might (and does!!!) consider this an abandonment. Spamton just left him behind. And THIS Is the main reason of why he's upset. Ofc that deal and the secret to being a big shot was important to him, but losing a friend was probably even worse. (Even though I enjoy a romantic reading of their relationship, I do want to say that it's not really important if it is or isn't one. They could be just really good friends, mb they were the only ones who truly understood each other even if it was purely platonic)
So, in short, despite having a very deep relationship, which is proved by Tenna keeping the pipis, Spamton abandoned his buddy and presumably left him with no explanation to never see him again. Ofc his buddy with abandonment issues and anxiety doesn't take it well and grows to resent Spamton a lot.
In Spamton's case, in turn, he might've never wanted to leave Tenna hanging like that, but his benefactor might've not left him a choice.

Spamton was genuinely terrified by what he heard and probably didn't mean for this scene to play out like this. Whatever was said on this call shook Spamton a lot and maybe this is the moment his "luck ran out". Correct me if I'm wrong, but this might be the begging of Spamton's downfall where he lost everything. Multiple terrible events back to back and loneliness caused him to have a mental break. I assume this is when his mental state went to sh_t. Spamton might've started to envy Tenna cuz from his perspective he's got everything he wanted. And plus continuous mentions of obsolescence of email didn't help I feel. Ofc, it's not like Spamton could explain to Tenna the identity of his benefactor and why he was afraid of him. This secret became the foundation for their friendship/relationship downfall imo.
TLDR: I think it's kind of Vi/Powder situation, where both didn't mean to hurt or abandon each other, but the lack of another person's perspective and secrets lead to the ultimate downfall of their relationship imo
They're just one big Asgore/Toriel allegory/j

Post for Reggie's birthday
CW: Mentions of depressive thoughts and self harm
Muggle AU
****
Regulus felt like shit even before he opened his eyes. The sense of nausea and the strong headache hit him like a lightning strike. All he wanted was to stay in bed and buried his existance inside the blankets.
But maybe Regulus had to force himself to class. No, it was the weekend he was sure. Sunday, yes. That was good. He had an excuse not to do anything.
People shouldn't drink. Alcohol was dreaful. That was why Regulus prefered weed. He had drunk at parties but never to the point of having a hangover like this. It had all had been because Sirius had insisted...
Shit, the flashes of last night memories came back to Regulus. Drinking with Sirius at his hiding spot by the lake, walking through corridors he didn't even know that existed in the castle, getting really pissed, being dragged by Sirius into the Gryffindor Common Room, commenting how awful the decoration was and being silenced by his brother. Giggles, laughter, more giggles and laughter.
And of course, ending the night insulting James Potter, vomiting on the carpet inside his brother's dorm, and hugging Sirius begging for forgiveness.
Regulus sat up in bed, realizing this was not his. Red covers. Red walls, forgein posters around it, The Marauders read in a sign stuck to the door.
Regulus had slept inside a Gryffindor Dorm, specifically his brother's.
Then the pain in his head got stronger and he got dizzy. Regulus wished he was one of those people who forgot everything they did while drunk, because he was regretting every single decision that was detailed in his brain but it was as if someone else had done them.
Regulus was on Sirius's bed he assumed. He had his weird drawing stuck on the wall and it was the nearest the window. Sirius loved windows.
The other beds were empty (thank god) except for the one right in front with two boys cuddled very close to each other. Lupin and Reg's own brother. Sirius had left him his so he could sleep with Lupin.
Yes, he knew they were together despite the fact they tried to hide it for the rest of the world. But still Regulus didn't know what to feel about it. Not because Lupin was a boy, but because Lupin was one of the causes of all of their problems.
Regulus decided he needed to run. Better pretend last night never happened.
The Slytherin boy tried to be careful not to make any noise. He got out of bed and realized he was wearing Sirius's clothes. He shook away the brief and nice sensation of feeling protected. That was dangerous.
Regulus put some shoes on, at least he hoped they were his shoes, and tiptoed to the door. He cursed under his breath when the wooden floor creaked and Sirius woke up. He had always been a lightsleeper.
"Morning Reggie" he whispered.
Shit, Regulus was so close to the door. He faced defeat as Sirius yawned and stretched.
"I'm leaving"
Sirius silenced him with his finger and pointed at the sleeping boy next to him.
It was true that when Sirius got out of bed, Regulus was panicking. He had wanted to avoid comfrontation from his brother.
"How are you feeling?" Sirius whispered as he walked to him, cheeky smile on his face.
"Never drinking again" Reg whispered back.
Sirius shrugged still smiling "We all say that. We still continue drinking"
Though Regulus founded pointless. It just caused damage.
"The others?"
"James is probably in his morning excersice" Wanker "Peter might've gone for breakfast with the girls"
Regulus remembered the four of them had tried to get him to bed and babysit him like a freaking child who didn't want to sleep. How embarrassing.
"I should probably go" Regulus said awkwardly "I shouldn't be here"
Not exactly for the school rules. He stopped caring about them long time ago. It was something else.
"I had good time last night" Sirius's eyes were literally glowing. Reg was understanding why he ressembled a dog.
The truth was that Regulus had an excellent night. It had been years since the two brothers had spent time together. Not without fighting or yelling at each other. Regulus had let himself be dragged outside the castle, into the forest. Sirius showed him a secret place that looked to be taken out of a fairytale. Then Sirius had taken a bottle from under his shirt.
Regulus started drinking because Sirius had dared him. But as alcohol loosened them they had talked, and joked, and laughed and maybe confessed things. It had been fun.
Regulus had missed his brother so much. He had missed this. Actually he wasn't sure he had had it in the first place. That was why these moments were golden for Reg. Even if maybe Sirius was bored and lonely and he just needed company.
But Regulus couldn't admit it. If he did now, everything would crumble. And he might never see Sirius again. Or Sirius might hate him forever. Regulus's plan had to work.
"Me too" he confessed, but then he quickly added "It was irresponsible, though. It shouldn't have happened"
"Why?" Sirius asked "Doubt you care about teachers since you've been skipping classes and avoiding homework"
What Regulus hated the most about Lupin being his tutor was that he told his boyfriend everything.
"Who is the one talking? Heard you did the same"
Sirius shook his head.
"You can waste time and get drunk with Mulciber and the others but not your older brother?" Sirius crossed his arms.
"They are my friends"
They weren't. He was just pretending.
"Since when do you like those people? I mean Snivellus hangs with them"
"I don't say anything about your friends, Sirius!" Reg snapped.
"Yet you insulted each one of them last night" Sirius grinned "Especially James. You wanted to punch him"
Regulus really despised that twat. But he still was embarrassed.
"Gotta go" He walked to the door and opened it.
Sirius closed it before he could leave.
"I just want to understand something, Reg"
Regulus wanted to escape. He was vulnerable and hangover. Sirius was too intelligent to notice his brother was lying.
"You've changed" Sirius added "You don't hang out with Crouch anymore, but the most disgusting crowd in Slytherin"
Barty understood it was all part of his plan.
"You're a heartbreaker now" Sirius continued enlisting "You date two girls at the same time when before you haven't even been interested in them"
He wasn't interested. It all had been a confusion. He didn't know how to get rid of Alice. And despite what other people say, Pandora was just his friend. Well, kind of.
"You speak like a total twat now, like a spolied rich boy" Sirius tutted "You know who you are ressembling more and more? Father"
That was the plan. Orion needed to like Regulus better. He needed to accept his son as the new heir. And leave Sirius alone. Otherwise he was going to make his life miserable.
Regulus was trying hard not to cry like the whinny little boy he used to be. Like the depressed arsehole he was.
Sirius needed to believe it in order to work.
"This is not you, Reg"
"Maybe it is" Regulus snapped with arms crossed "What if this is me?"
Regulus sensed Lupin was moving in his sleep and if he woke up, Sirius would stop caring about his brother. Potter was first. Lupin was first. Sirius just felt guilty for what had happened and how he left.
If Sirius didn't care then why was Regulus doing all of this? It was his depressive side talking that wasn't able to shut up.
Regulus reached for the door again. Sirius stopped him.
"Are mother and father forcing you to do this?" Sirius asked with concern "Is mother?"
It ached the way Walburga was drowning herself and Regulus couldn't do anything about it. Sirius just hated her. Regulus wished he could hate her that easily. But he loved her so much it hurt, because she was awful. She was not easy to love.
"Leave mother out of this"
"She can be very manipulative, especially with you"
Regulus hated those kind of comments. Those made Regulus feel weak and hate himself more than he already did.
"Just let me go, Sirius"
But Sirius was on the door, practically blocking Regulus's exit, escape route.
"You don't have to turn you into the heir they want. Just like they tried to do with me"
"Someone has to take your place"
"It doesn't have to be you"
Regulus's heart was beating fast. He needed to get out. He needed air.
"Sirius, please just let me go"
"So what? You can let them turn you into something you're not?" Sirius was raising his voice. Regulus's eyes flickered to the bult on Lupin's bed.
"They. are. not. doing. that"
It was really difficult to breathe.
"So that you can be the heir and miserable for the rest of your life?" Sirius carried on "So you can be just like father and mother. Full of pretending appeareances and smiles. Both still married but hating each other. And craving more money like a drug even if they already have enough... Manipulating people's lives even their own kids's"
"Sirius, move!"
And Regulus was speaking loudly because he was panicking. He felt like he was dying. On the burst of a panic attack.
"I'm not letting you go so you can be miserable and depressive because of them!" Sirius yelled back "So you would do this again"
Sirius grabbed Regulus's arm and the boy understood.
He still had some scars from the incident back in summer. He took pills that numbed him so he hadn't done it again. Although Regulus had wanted to. He had needed it many times.
Regulus knew he had scarred Sirius with his doing. He was crying now, shaking with fear. That was it.
Sirius was worried Regulus would hurt himself again. It was guilt and worry. Not love. Not like the one he felt for his precious Marauders.
"What's going on?"
Lupin was already awake, looking between the two brothers with concern. Regulus didn't know if Sirius had told him about summer, but he suspected Lupin had been awake a long time ago and he probably had overheard them.
If not, Sirius's tears would probably give it away.
"Moony..." he mumbled under his breath.
Regulus was already furious. He ripped his arm away.
"Very mature, Sirius"
He pushed his brother away from the door saying "Let me go" and opened it.
Sirius didn't stop him this time. He was crying.
"And don't worry" Reg added before leaving "I'm not going to kill myself"
Regulus said it because he knew it would hurt his brother the most. Then he slammed the door closed behind him. Lupin would figure it out anyway.
Regulus heard perfectly the way his brother yelled, cursed and banged the door from the other side. That was Sirius, pure fury.
This was better. If Regulus became the heir, Sirius could have the happy life he wanted. Live with his new family, date his boyfriend and do whatever he liked.
Regulus could take the burden. He was dead anyway.

that multilingual reader fic got me thinking...
i see so many fics where the reader only speaks English and Spencer like translates movies that always happen to be in Russian or Italian (two of the languages I speak) and so I thought: what if the reader just enjoys hearing Spencer whisper into her ear during the movies and so she doesn't tell him she's multilingual? that probably doesn't make much sense but do you see the vision??😍
thank you for requesting! hope you enjoy :)

It was your weekly movie night, every Friday night, with your boyfriend. You'd cuddle up on your couch or sometimes in a movie theater if something good was showing, one of you picking a movie while the other made popcorn.
You'd bring every one of your cozy pillows and blankets and arrange them around your couch. Typically, the movies you picked to show Spencer were either rom-coms or, on the other end of the spectrum, horror movies. You loved the way he flinched at the jump scares burying his face in your shoulder to hide from the film. One time you picked a film in Russian, a language you were fluent in, that you knew had a scene containing dirty talk just so you could hear Spencer whisper it in your ear.
Spencer's picks usually consisted of old movies, most of the time in a different language. He'd lean closer to you, the heat of his body warming you even more, as he murmured the translations in your ear. His warm voice gave you goosebumps, his arm heavy around your waist.
It was Spencer's turn to pick the movie and he chose a French film from 1959 called 'The 400 Blows'. You cuddled up on the couch, shuffling into Spencer's side, close enough for him to whisper to you.
It's funny, sometimes he'll get too invested in the movie that he forgets to translate to you and, once he realizes himself, he'll apologize sheepishly and rewind the movie to where he left off. Little did he know, you'd understood what was happening the entire time.
The way Spencer found out about your fluency in French was on a case. The unsub's had been sending notes to each other in French and, you and Spencer being the only ones left back in the precinct, were tasked with reading and putting together the notes to see if there's any clues as to their identity or whereabouts.
You were pinning all the notes in date order on the cork board as Spencer pulled out a notebook to translate. He heard you murmuring under your breath and looked up.
"Do you want to write as I translate?" He asked.
"No, I've got it. 'Paul, I think writing each other is a better alternative-'" You began translating the letters the unsubs wrote to each other.
"Wait, you know French?" You realized your mistake, turning around to look at him, blushing slightly.
"Well..."
"When did you learn?"
"I've known since I was fourteen." His eyebrows furrow.
"I've been translating movies to you for three years now. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I... I don't know, you just did it the first time and I liked the closeness and- and your voice, and I guess I just never thought to tell you." You said, your face hot with embarrassment.
"Really?" A small smile was growing on his lips.
"Yeah." You mumbled, looking down. Spencer stood from his chair, moving towards you and stopping when he was right in front of you. He tilted your chin up to look at him and you saw the smug grin on his face.
"You know, I don't need to translate to be close to you. You can just ask." If possible, your face goes redder.
"Okay." You mumbled and he chuckled, leaning down to kiss you softly, his hand still cradling your chin.
"Je t'adore, mon amour." He murmurs against your lips.

too bad this book three people recommended to me was just. not good. hate it when that happens.
#i just went looking for reviews and was SHOCKED that it's marketed to adults???#the whole time i was reading i was making all these allowances for the style like well it's YA probably#nope!#these three people have all recommended books to me before that i've liked#and one of them said this is her favorite book!!!#and the reviews online are overwhelmingly positive#guess i should have gone with my gut when i picked it up several times and never got past the first page#also this is maybe a stupid thing to be annoyed by but the dialects didn't make any sense#the vocabulary of these characters is like. they're all trying really hard to be british but they suck at it???#drove me up a wall. and it wasn't for a character reason. it could only be because the author wanted them to sound like that#because he thinks brits are charming or something but could not pull it off because he does not actually know the lexicon#i was kind of expecting this to be the author's first book because the style was just so awkward. but again no#the resolution was unsatisfying and the book should have been 25% shorter#the kids were cute though#my posts#books#anyway i don't really want this coming up in searches for the book so i will convert the title to rhyming words:#the mouse in the julian tea#but for mouse read dwelling and for julian read blue and for tea read ocean#in case you are a person who sees a vaguepost and needs to know what it's about. i am also that kind of person. i got you

i don't think i've gotten over reading those few chapters of that one version of the Bible we used for a university class cause it was so fucking jarring like;
the version of the Bible I grew up with: god is a gentle but occasionally strict father who genuinely cares for his children and creations. as punishment for eating the apple, Eve and all her descendants will now experience the pains of childbirth + periods.
the version of the Bible a lot of people have read, apparently: God is an Authoritative Figure to be Feared, and you must do anything to please him and avoid punishment. as punishment for eating the apple, Eve and all her descendants must now serve Men, forever. oh and also the childbirth and period thing.
like. wow. holy shit. a lot of Specific People's behaviour makes a Lot More Sense if that's the version they grew up with. I mean, "respect all figures of authority and do whatever you can to please them Or Else" sure is something that would fuck someone's brain up
#should i tw this for like. christianity.#honestly i don't even know which groups Use This Version#...just send me an ask for a tag for this if its neccessary cause idk what one to use#to be clear. i am agnostic so im looking at this from the perspective of#''well its possible a god is real. that doesn't mean any of us are right about what they're like though#but if i had to pick one it would not be Authoritative Figure Who Tells You To Kill Your Beloved Son To Test You#And You Actually Going Through With It Is A Good Thing''#(to be fair the dude was stopped at the last second by an angel but like-#-the POINT of that story was basically saying ''you need to be prepared to do Anything for this figure of Authority'')#like jeez. the state of America makes a lot more sense if you view Certain People through the lens of being raised Like This#like i knew there must be something different about the version of the bible certain groups were reading#but i didn't expect it to like. directly explain why the world is in the state its in right now#i'll probably delete this post in a bit cause#im only really posting it to get it out of my head alkjdlfksdfs im stuck in an ocd thought cycle about it#and im tired of thinking about it#plus i also dont wanna end up with like. some kind of religious drama in my askbox

did u read the good omens book? if so, what are your thoughts on it compared to the tv series?
i followed u for the steddie posts but fell in love with ur meta too 💜
I did, but honestly they're separate entities unless I want to steal something specific for a fic. They're both good, for different reasons and in different ways. They are written by different men, literally and figuratively, about different subject matters, for different reasons. You can compare an apple to an apple blossom, but even though one became the other, and came from the same tree, doesn't mean they are the same thing anymore, nor does it mean one is better than the other.
That being said, I've only read the book once, and I've watched the show over a dozen times, most likely because I saw the show first and read the book second. I enjoyed the book, but I think it was probably a better read in its day, by people who were the target audience at the time, and who didn't just read about or know the context, but understood and lived it. I can't be that, I can't go back in time and read the book before the series, I can't go back and read it in a time where it would have meant what it was intended to mean to the world it was born into.
#probably not the answer you were looking for#and please believe i did enjoy both#the book tends to wander far more#it has a lot of tangents and addresses a lot of people#like the second set of horsemen#that had meaning but honestly not that much purpose to the main plotline#such that removing them entirely#didn't render the story any harder to understand#which i actually find fascinating from a writer perspective#since we're always told that every word and character and side story etc has to be essential#has to further the plot#has to be something that can't be removed and still have the story make sense#and then there's AO3#where nothing has to be essential to anything other than what i want to read about in a given moment#and good omens the book kinda just put that stuff in the canon#so idk man it was a good book that had extras in it#good omens#asks#anon asks

Back in the mood for reflecting on how it all started and honestly this exchange with my TMBG pal might be one of the earliest, if not THE earliest recording of the slow descent into Sparks madness. And also.....

Translations of the Sparks-specific bits:
"And now I feel a little bit obligated to check out the output of the band Sparks, since Flansburgh is such a fan of theirs and they [Sparks and TMBG] are also playing together soon...."
"A couple days ago I had the opportunity to listen to some Sparks since the Spotify algorithm so nicely presented them to me. And I gotta say that it was pretty interesting!!! So I'm definitely going to look into them further :D" (lmao)
"It's a nice coincidence that I'm getting more into Sparks right about now. In terms of full albums, Kimono My House, Propaganda, Angst In My Pants and The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte are those that I've heard so far, and I can definitely recommend them all 👍 But Propaganda is my definitive fav so especially that one. Kimono and Propaganda are fundamentally pretty similar to me but yeah, I prefer the latter."
(Also yes that's a Lemon Demon mention in there too. Lifetime Achievement Award still the song of all time to me)
#goosepost#march 2023.... she still didn't know.........#anyway i don't rely on the algorithm so much anymore. i do my own research. lol#“obligated” you say... who obligated you. couldn't be the evil spirits of temptation of some sort already at work#i probably still have more of a propaganda than kmh bias honestly. but. i dont know anymore#having THE fav couple chosen albums makes less and less sense as time goes on and the madness gets to an even more advanced stage#i mostly have a bit of a crisis over this bcs well my top 5 is so well established so how do i fit MAD! in there now also#and i cant touch any of the lil b trilogy so that leaves us with propaganda or asddd and like. no. i can't do that. those have to stay there#but also why do i not count ffs or hippo among my favs when i love them both so. and what about kmh. and... well you see the problem#and now well i just want to say that SETLIST SPOILERS DON'T READ AND STOP HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED!!!!!!#...........................................................................................................................................#so. one more thing about propaganda that i need to say now that i'm in the reflecting on the humble beginning times mood again#is that whoa man them playing reinforcements is literally so huge the more i think about it#that was one of my biggest early favs....... my propaganda era was so important looking back at it and this song really defined it for me#BUT! i still feel personally attacked by the lack of MBTMH on the setlist im sorry to say. thats so devastating to me still i cant help this#but what would i even boot for its place. all these songs are important. some of them ARE less important than this one though.#this is the best setlist ever don't get me wrong. but my beloved 00s..... oh how i need to hear you too. one day#ok that's enough mulling over this sorry#also i'm posting the videos from the 1st show today i promise

i keep thinking about how “is this what justice means to you, answer me neuvillette”, despite having been used in a case all those hundred of years ago, was probably a question that haunted - and still haunts - neuvilette during the entire time he has been chief of justice. i keep thinking about how they highlighted his struggles through time with both carole and wriothesley's trials. how guilty and powerless neuvillette must have felt for not being able to support and save those he recognised as vulnerable and victims before a system that corrupted their fates but that he wasn't able to change despite his position. the theme of being a casualty of a system no matter if you're the victim or the perpetrator in its eyes. the way neuvillette took, in both cases, things into his own hands. even if it was too late to fix the hurting carole and those who cared for her went through, even if it was too late to save her life; even if it was impossible to change wriothesley's past, his verdict and subsequent imprisonment; neuvillette went above and beyond, making use of his influence, to allow both melusines and wriothesley the opportunity of a better future - to melusines by making sure they weren't discriminated, to wriothesley by supporting his attempt at a second chance in life. i think part of the reason he's so intriguing is our awareness that this internal conflict he's bound to have is so complex. you have a chief of justice, or a judge, that is supposed to be imparcial and follow the law stictly confronted with situations of social injustice, unable to protect those who rely on him. you have someone who understands better than anyone what it means to be an outcast, being able to relate to those who are ostracised and have their pain weaponise against them. you have, in vautrin's case, a friend who cannot even showcase his own pain and is still expected to fullfil his juridical duties despite being personally related with those involved in the case. someone who people constantly turn to but whom he feels like he has no right to turn to himself. it's about the conflict between his feelings and his duty, between what's expected of him and what he can actually do. i think that's why the end of his story quest is so emotional and why it's so heartwarming to have him realise he isn't an outcast anymore, that he has a community there for him too. because a system is a system and he will probably never be able to save everyone, because yes he isn't human, but it doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to belong or that an active demonstration of love towards individuals and people he can relate to rather than the theoretical concept of humanity isn't meaningful. in fact, i'd it's a lot about that, about finding ways to be kind and how community gives meaning to life; how personal relationships and targeted kindness can shape society, or at least i think so
#i don't know if this makes sense but i like how character's stories in fontaine are interconnected in the perfect way that they're used to#give depth to each other while also existing perfectly independently#i forgot to add navia's story to the post but that's also another scenario used to characterise neuvillette#the same way wriothesley's backstory exists independently but it's also used to give depth into neuvillette's character and his motivations#the same way navia and clorinde's probably will as well#i always headcanoned (is that a verb 😂) neuvillette and wrio's friendship stemming from neuvillette trying to atone to his silence during#wrio's trial. i think it makes sense. i think it probably meant a lot to wrio too to have someone be so trustworthy after everything he#went through the betrayal from his adoptive family and his only aid through his life being the melusines who aren't human#and neuvillette being that sort of comforting older figure especially probably feels familiar to wrio#i have no idea what i'm trying to say actually i have a big headache at the moment and i feel almost delirious but i just love the concept#of neuvillette as a character and i think a lot about his friendship with wriothesley how it began and the grief and guilt neuvillette#probably still carries#but also about how he also gets the chance to a brighter future and how he achieves it so naturally without even realising#how he never expected anything from his compassion even if he saw it as duty and didn't interpret his own kindness as anything other than#his own responsabilty towards others#like idk am i making sense???#he's just so cool 😂#like yeah there's a layer of there's no reason he would have any animotisity towards humans because they're not at fault for the primordial#one's actions but from that to actually actively being so empathetic and compassionate goes a bit of a long way?!#okay i'm over i'll shut up this is probably si confusing i apologise if anyone read this mess shsjhs#this is also influenced by my tbk brainrot because loving others actively is a big theme and i just think that's beautiful actually#genshin thoughts#genshin impact#my post

One question that's still on my mind is if servants are based on the user's soul, why are Raven and Valentines the same?
#like on a meta level- it's probably not too complicated they probably just reused the servants so people can play as Raven#but on a “I need to pick apart little details or I'll die” level I want to imagine there's more to it#obviously theres enough details of both where you could decids one or the other but I definitely think the tribe was Ravens first#while the tribe is a pretty equal mix of gothic lolita and horror elements I definitely feel a stronger read that they came from Raven#gateau skin and blancmange especially due to their birdlike features (plus. blancmange is straight up a plague doctor-)#which makes me assume Valentine may have seen them and adopted that image as her own#the only unique enemies Valentine has that Raven doesn't would be the vizuel which DO feel entirely her own#and they're maids wearing suffocating gas masks that look like they can barely stand when they're idle#and talk about how they'll die if they come back without completing their mission. Lamenting that they'll probably die if they do as well.#which is so INTERESTING...#thats so much good insight into Valentine right there I'm going insane#sorry if any of this is off base or didn't make sense- I got up and immediately started thinking about Valentine again#yappin'

It's quiet in the wake of the fire, of Shoyo's arrest, of their home being destroyed. The muffled sobs peter out, and they're left to sit in their misery, not knowing what to do when the little they had has been cruelly ripped away from them.
Then Kentaro starts crying. Wailing, really, like babies do, and it snaps Gintoki back to reality.
His legs nearly give out when he stands, and his arms ache from being pulled too harshly, but he makes his way to Takashi, who's overwhelmed by the screeching infant they must have carried out of the temple. They shove Kentaro onto him with obvious relief, and on a normal day - a better day - Gintoki would complain about always getting stuck on babysitting duty. Instead, he rocks the brat back to sleep and realizes they’re going to have to dump him in some orphanage.
Already one person he can’t look after for Shoyo.
#gintama#I was doing a 10 minute prompt excersise and as soon as I read 'a baby cries' the gintabrainrot rocketed me to this night#I had a line about formula and then I remembered formula didn't exist yet#and then I had a mini panic about how it doesn't make any sense for the baby to be with them if they don't have assess to any breast milk#but whatever he can just be like a year old or something idk#fic scraps#I am forever thinking about Gintoki being the big bro of Shoka Sonjuku#where was the one meta post about how he probably did look after some babies for the other kids

so i did watch jocks in jills as per my usual monday routine
#we had another wonderful couch session with better audio than last time#i saw them in tv makeup and knew immediately what happened lmao [they partied w team ca and didn't sleep]#on another note they have got to fix the trade process like these players get asked about it and they can barely come up with any positives#oh and miss julia tocheri revealed the poulin and desbiens do a ton of interviews for the french broadcast#bc it's required for equal coverage and they are the only ones who speak french which makes sense#so i've got to find those if anyone can hook a girl up lmk [i will take this worlds last worlds any team ca game]#also julia and i have the same read on the t swift situation live laugh love#the vanisova interview was good sound was bad tho :(#i will say that tessa really rides on having existing relationships with these players#i think she is probably better at broadcast than podcast and i'm ok with that#julia is better i think at getting good interviews out of the players they don't know [ie not on team canada] which makes sense#considering she is doing more of the interviewing on the broadcasts#anyways thanks for coming to my post script live tweet of the episode once again i cannot recommend the youtube version enough

interesting to me when people talk about kirk's fear of getting old in tmp it often seems to be talked about purely in terms of 'not being young anymore' instead of in the context of The Deadly Years where kirk is the only one of those affected to wind up with outright dementia
#N posts stuff#especially bc comparatively kirk actually seems to start experiencing symptoms of dementia before the aging#even reaches a particularly visible progression -- implying that he isn't even 'that old' when he starts to degrade#of course there's arguments to be made that since this was an Illness and not natural aging it's not like it's a Guarantee#that kirk would Still progress into dementia but. it's not like anyone (least of all HIM) knows that for sure#a very frightening peek into your future: you can no longer do the job you love. the people you love forcibly and Publically#remove you from your position bc they do not trust you to fulfill its requirements anymore. there is no time to be kind about it.#you are too confused to even understand Why they have done this to you until after everything is already over#you're one step away from being institutionalized. probable the only reason they Didn't go that far was bc there wasn't Time#but if/When it comes back around. is anything going to be any different? i think it makes a Lot of sense that kirk is#afraid of getting older; it's not a vanity thing for him. anyway.. read Being Mortal by Atul Gawande

personal ranking of all ace attorney games:
1. ace attorney investigations 2
2. the great ace attorney 2
3. the great ace attorney 1
4. ace attorney investigations 1
(here is where the list becomes based on my, frankly, spotty memory)
5. ace attorney: justice for all
6. ace attorney 1
7. apollo justice
8. ace attorney: trials and tribulations
9. phoenix wright vs professor layton
10. ace attorney: dual destinies
11. ace attorney: spirit of justice
#i only have strong opinions on the first 4 really#the others can be shifted around on a whim#well except for the bottom 2...#the only reason i ranked tgaa2 over 1 is bc it has the finale#personally i see them as so interwoven that they almost shouldn't be seen as separate games#but technically they were separate games so i ranked them as such#and aai2 is better bc the first investigations is... well it's not terrible but if it didn't set up the sequel and introduce kay#it would probably be lower tbh#also pwvspl is actually very good but it plays more like a pl game so it feels wrong to rank it above the mainline games#idk if i would rank it any higher though...#it kind of should exist on its own list if that makes sense?#basically i kind of hate ranking things as strictly better or worse most of the time#the things it sets out to do are different from the other games#so it feels wrong to say it's better or worse than other games#am i making sense#on mobile it's hard to read my tags after typing them and i tend to forget sentences as i type them#i feel like i end up repeating myself a lot

Between Ethel Cain's Preacher's Daughter, Shisumo's Bookstore Max AU, and whimsicalcotton's polluted marrow Max AU (and let's be real pretty much all of Life is Strange 1 & True Colors), I am noticing that I may be latching on to stories about traumatized ppl more than may be healthy
#bulletbilltime rambling#life is strange#ethel cain#this is an odd pivot especially since I generally enjoy more wholesome cutesy stories#but goddamn there's something about seeing ppl Going Through It#Especially when they finally see a light at the end of it all#even if in the case of ethel cain the character only finds peace in death#that one is just more of a tragedy than anything#but it is still a compelling story nonetheless#as for the max caulfield AUs#yeah it's just about the catharsis of seeing someone go through the worst possible things ever#believing themselves to be so unlovable and monstrous#pushing everyone away#and then being proven wrong#it's why I don't really like the bay ending of LiS1 on its own tbh#it has a narrative arc of letting go of something dear to you#without any sense that things will be ok#it just doesn't feel conclusive in a satisfying way to me#which is why the Bookstore Max AU works so well for me#we see a post bay max that is wracked by the guilt of letting chloe die#and is continuously unable to make connections to others#and tho the oneshot where she meets cassidy ends on a sour note#it still feels more cathartic in a sense#maybe because it feels like more of a character driven tragedy than just 'the universe says chloe dies and that's it'#and that is always far more compelling to me than a depressing/dark narrative for its own sake#ANYWAY reminder to read shisumo's The Wicked Run (When No One is Chasing Them) and Where The Dead Cannot Speak#and if you haven't yet GO LISTEN TO PREACHER'S DAUGHTER it is probably my favorite album ever#the post is stored in the tags#(didn't talk much about polluted marrow in these tags but honestly that could be its own post)#GO READ IT TOO IF YOU HAVE NOT
