mmk letting you know I’m alive
even though I’m still lowkey sick??!?! sick under situations of duress (ie my sister sat on me like I was a GODDAMN HORSE and induced a coughing fit despite me thinking I was recovered) (my sister is not a small sister though, my sister is 21 and Tall so maybe coughing was a reasonable bodily reaction idk)
anyways suki thoughts: I would literally be devastated if I were her and the boy I liked appeared to reciprocate my feelings and then I found out that not only did he FULLY LIE TO ME ABOUT ALMOST EVERYTHING but also was actually interested in somebody else. I would not have been the bigger person that suki was I would’ve told sokka to go fuck himself and then gone off to wallow and shit talk him with the girlies.
but then again when the katara lying to zuko about being sokka sitch went down I wouldn’t have hesitated to pretend like she did so… maybe I’m just a bad person. (jokes, I totally think suki was valid for her response and I actually think it was an insanely emotionally mature response???? like being emotionally mature is about recognising your emotions and reacting appropriately so you don’t hurt others in the process unnecessarily, NOT ignoring your emotions/not having them to begin with so you can always put the feelings of others before your own and have the “ideal” reaction… not to be too deep about this AND I DONT THINK PEOPLE MEANT IT TO COME ACROSS LIKE THIS but it also makes me feel kinda iffy about the fact that suki a teenage girl is being criticised for letting her own valid emotions get in the way of her assisting sokka a boy through his trauma.. kinda giving women expected to perform emotional labour for men all the time…….. OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF THIS SENTIMENTALITY IS BC WE KNOW HOW FUCKING HARD SOKKA HAS IT AND HOW ITS THE TRAUMA THATS CAUSED HIM TO BEHAVE THIS WAY but it’s still not sukis job to “fix him” especially as a priority to her own well-being. and idk it makes me think about whether the reaction would be the same if the situation were reversed. MAYBE IT WOULD BE !! sorry I just have a lot of thoughts about arbitrary expectations regarding traditional gender roles T-T)
anyways this was supposed to be a short ask to let you know I’m alive and once again it got out of hand. SMASHING YOUR LIGHTBULBS *mwah*
~also I’ll share my iroh theories next chappie reaction REMIND ME TO DO IT I CANT FORGET SREEDIE PLS I HAVE SO MANY OPINIONS~
LEEEEEEEEKKKKKKIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE
hi.
Ok you had better not still be sick or like WTF. you need a dr.
Hahaha - the way you rationally state the facts of the situation between Sokka & Suki is so funny because you actually bring up a lot of great points & you do it with so much flare.
Is Suki responsible for catering to Sokkas emotional reaction to his trauma by being overly understanding and making justifications for what he did?
Should Suki have stayed and allowed Sokka to drag her back into a situation that made her emotional and uncomfortable?
Should Sokka have accountability for his actions & not be allowed to blame his trauma for hurting sukis feelings? Or was he justified for what he did because he is obviously in a bad place and we know how mentally fucked he is right now?
Is Sokka or Suki responsible for the others emotional well being in any capacity if they are just friends? & how far should they be willing to go? At what level does it become too emotionally draining and toxic?
I DONT KNOW LEEKIE,,, I JUST DONT KNOW!! I love how you look at gender roles and I think the situation is interpreted differently by each individual who looks at it based on how they would react and the expectations they have for characters to perform a certain way.
I love complex situations & how many different right & wrong ways it can go…. Hehehe *skips happily*

winter assassin outfit
#zeno's art#ocs#reassassination#octavia krankenstein#oh i got a LOT to say about this one#in the comic octavia starts wearing this outfit after a certain event i think n its very symbolic#it represents mainly how her personality has changed as well as her relationship with kranken and humanity as a whole#lets do it top to bottom. FIRSTLY the mask that replaces her goggles that she wore in the “summer” outfit#the mask represents several things. firstly that octavia's relationship with kranken improved#i think the mask itself is probably kranken's and octavia uses it. showing that they've become closer#and ALSO even using a mask to hide her identity while working is in line with kranken's ideas of clothing being practical rather than flashy#(see her first outfit was originally really frumpy and practical before she DIY'd it into the minidress type thing)#anyway. the hoodie is supposed to harken more to an executioner showing octavia is more used to her job#the hoodie has eyelets which are circles. the fact that there are way more circles in the design shows that she becomes less cold#and more assimilated into human society#the gloves however are a sign of her persistent rebellion as they're fingerless and impractical lol#the pants are based off of tripp nyc's design. which was popular with mallgoths in the 90s/00s#it shows octavia's own personality and interests and of course has two hidden sets of 6's through the eyelets#lastly her shoes resemble skulls. that one's just for fun#while her first outfit completely represented rebellion i like to think this one bridges the gap between rebellion and octavia settling down#and becoming more familiar with those around her#this is only the first pass so i'll prob incorporate more red into the outfit before it's finalised#octavia isn't the only one who changes either! i want like ~3 changes for almost everyone

one thing i really adore about togame is his word choice and how unexpectedly soft his way of phrasing sentences are. it's almost impossible to translate into english because there's no equivalent verb ending, but you can kind of tell the difference in his tone use. when you listen to sakura talk, for example, the ends of his sentences sound a little harsh and abrupt since he uses a typically informal tone; whereas togame's a lot softer (even if we account for his slower speed), and he uses a verb ending that's rather unusually rounded and unexpected of someone with a physical appearance like him. the elongated ends of his sentences exaggerate this, especially during his pre-bofurin fight when he uses that tone as a way to annoy his opponents.

it's so funny to me that caleb and veth really did just trade off the job of intensely pining for the other at like the halfway point of the campaign. like, imo, nott in the early days did not behave in any real romantic or even romance-adjacent ways toward him--I imagine it would be very hard to even think in that way when you hate what you look like so much, have such low self-esteem, and are actively lying about your entire past, including a secret husband. caleb, on the other hand, is kind of diving directly back into the sort of relationship he had with astrid and eadwulf. very close, very intimate, we-huddled-for-warmth-together-and-oops-it-led-to-something-else sort of thing. he is the one who expresses that he's fine with it if people think he and nott are romantically together when they're talking to keg. nott is the one who pushes back on that. he calls her his life partner. unknowingly, he compares his feelings for nott to nott's feelings for yeza. his behavior only really starts to change after he finds out about veth's husband because suddenly all of that other stuff is rendered inappropriate in retrospect. but even then he compliments her to yeza over dinner in the most awkward of ways, he admits to being jealous, he calls yeza "a lucky man" to have her, he stares at veth and yeza closed bedroom door for far too long, he creates an entire arcane tower with room for her family just so she'll stay with him. in general, his behavior is not, um, totally and completely platonic about it, you know?
like, veth's feelings for caleb are canonical and therefore indisputable in their existence, but caleb in the early days was not that dissimilar to how veth was acting near the end of the campaign. it really paints a picture of "right person, wrong time" in the way things just didn't line up for them. or, as veth would say: "in another world, maybe"

guys can we PLEASE stop shipping riz w people. honestly at this point i kind of don’t even care if you yourself are also acespec/arospec/aspec.
yes, aspec people can be in relationships, etc etc, but riz specifically has expressed over and over and over again that that is something he personally has absolutely zero interest in.
he’s not just canonically aroace, he also canonically does not want a relationship.
“aroace people can be happy in romantic/sexual/queerplatonic relationships” is a true statement. “people who do not want to be in any kind of monogamous committed relationship can be happy in a monogamous committed relationship” is quite a bit harder to argue.
i’m just so sick of it. i’m glad we all understand that there’s nuance to aspec identities, and everyone’s expressions of and experiences with their own aspec identities are going to be different and personal.
like, it’s not even just about the asexual/aromantic aspect anymore. it’s also just refusing to let him not want to be in a relationship. why are so many people so resistant to the idea that he does not want to be in a relationship. like genuinely, why can you not accept that there are people who just don’t want that. who would just be unhappy in a relationship. why can’t you wrap your head around the idea that wanting a relationship is not a thing that everyone secretly wants. like, No, he hasn’t just not “met the right person” yet. because there is no right person. because he’s simply not interested.
this post is kind of rambly and not as effectively phrased as it could be i think but idc.
TL;DR: riz being aroace is not the only reason to not ship him. he also, explicitly and repeatedly, has stated he does not want to be in a relationship. “aspec people can be in relationships” is completely irrelevant because regardless riz simply does not want a relationship. please just respect thag.
edit: plz don’t like this is u wont rb. i won’t guilt you into rbing, it’s ur blog i’m not ur dad do what u want etc etc. it’s just irritating for me personally to see ppl interacting w this but not willing to actually put it on their blogs.
#sorry to keep this ‘’’’’’’ discoure ‘’’’’’’ alive#im just sooooo tired#i just don’t understand how so many people can see this character have such a significant part of characterization be about how#he does not want to be in a Relationship at all and how that affects him and his relationships with the people in his life#and then go ‘what if he was in a Relationship with his best friend’#like come on!!#i don’t care how you define the Relationship. i don’t care about your own personal identity.#i don’t care about whatever reasons you come up with the justify why it’s actually totally fine#the bottom line is riz does not want that for himself and you’re deciding that that’s not worth respecting#sorry fabriz enjoyers but i wish you guys would just stfu#dimension 20#fantasy high#riz gukgak#edit continued: ik it’s all just online fandom stuff. but it’s also representative of a larger issue#of people just being incapable of comprehending that some people don’t want relationships. or even past that; that some people actively want#to Not be in relationships. it’s people coming into contact with a person (character) like that and believing that that just can’t be true#that that person Must secretly actually want a relationship. even if they don’t know it. they just haven’t met the right person yet. etc etc#if you can’t give up outting riz in any kind of relationship then you cannot accept that some people really truly do not want relationships#that’s FINE. PLEASE just respect that

hi! i've been reading some of your older fics and was wondering if there's any merit in watching buffy for the first time in the year 2024
This may not be obvious, but this is actually an extremely complicated and highly subjective question. I'll try to go on for too long.
As background: my mother loved Buffy and its spin-off Angel growing up. It was our Bible (besides the actual Bible). Not kidding, she was on the forums and fan groups and wrote fanfiction for it and everything (These days, she's really into kdramas and Asian dramas, and calls me about how the Thai seem like big fans of gay people). So I'm quite biased.
BTVS is both a product of its times and ahead of its times. It was a show about feminism and the struggle of living in this world as a woman, when very few shows were doing that. It was the first show to have a long-lasting lesbian couple, and the first show to depict a kiss between them. For better or for worse, it was one of the codifiers of broody vampire boyfriend. It was pretty unafraid to be experimental in a lot of what it did. It had incredibly complex and nuanced character work and growth that I still aspire to. Spike's arc is still matched in quality only by Avatar's Zuko. Angel's long term arc, from Buffy to his spin-off series, still makes him one of the most complex characters on TV. It had the most complex depiction of depression on TV at the time and I still think it's one of the best. I think the show had very high highs.
It also had very low lows. Some of the feminism is problematic in retrospect. The sapphic couple has a rather famous element that was severely problematic. There are, overall, some deeply atrocious arcs that I can appreciate objectively but not in practice. Xander: a whole-ass character aged awfully. On a meta level, the workplace conditions were bad (thanks, Whedon.) There are no people of color. The spoiler's sake I won't go into detail on this, but in general the good stuff was so influential and the bad stuff was just awful.
I think these days people tend to brush off the entire thing because it's Whedon. That is more than fair. But I'd also say that Whedon & Buffy is extremely similar to Brian Michael Bendis & Ultimate Spider-Man. Bendis was fantastic at writing sassy, bouncy, permanently stressed-out teens - issue was, he wrote entirely different serious adult characters the way he wrote these sassy teens. Same with Whedon: the annoyingly constant quips are perfect for Buffy, because that's who the characters are. They're awful in Marvel, because Steve Rogers is not Xander. Kinda similarly, Buffy was genuinely feminist for 90s TV - issue is, Whedon has not grown or developed his views, and now his works feel so sexist (oh my fucking god why did you treat Natasha like that). After a certain point it's egotistical: you're writing like that because you're Joss Whedon and it's how you write, not because it's what's best for the characters and story. But it was really important to me to get the character voices right, and it's freaking difficult to endlessly write dialogue that distinct, full of voice, witty, and clever.
I think BTVS & Angel TV's greatest influence on my writing is how intensely character-driven both of those shows were, and how intricate the characters were. What every character did was something they would do, if that made sense. Even the stuff I hated to watch, that made me uncomfortable, was the culmination of so much (usually). I think I also picked up the constant wit and humor lol. On a personal level, the conversations I would have with my mother where she broke down the character motivations and composition of the story was my first exposure to looking at storytelling from an analytical perspective and a framework of critical analysis, which was an approach I carried into the rest of the media I consumed and that was the primary reason I was able to become a decent writer. Thanks, Mom. Have fun with your kdramas.
TL:DR: There is merit, especially if you care about good character work. There are things about it that may make you want to drop it, which is extremely valid. Season 1 is rough but interesting, Season 2 and 5 are the best, Season 3 is pretty good, Season 4 and 7 skippable, and Season 6 is........epic highs, epic lows......

no because is it just me or do kinichs eyes look really big on his face idk if its the headband or just the model <//3
after extensive research (aka just looking at the other models) his eyes are more or less the same size as others so I think its an optical illusion combo of yeah the headband giving his eyes less face space to breathe + his eye design is similar to those graphic impact zoom-in effects you see in comics to emphasize something moving really fast toward the center (in this case his pupils). so it really gives this effect of his eyes sucking you in. actually now that i'm looking his ridiculous bottom lashes also contribute to that, as well as the inherent intensity of a yellow/green color combo contrasted against black pupils
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like just comparing to albedo who also has big bug-eyed stare syndrome, since albedo's eyes aren't as detailed and the composition goes in a circle rather than inwards you get more of a "blank stare" with albedo, esp since his eyes are rounder. the composition is also more forcably circular due to the 3 dots sitting right along the line. kinich on the other hand feels extremely hyper-focused/intense
edit: also just to add since i kinda lost the original plot of this ask ajkldasj kinich and albedo represent extremes but they're both "circular" (well kinich's is more of convergence and albedo is just plain circle). other characters are more balanced through linearity using either the eye/pupil shape or where the eye shines are, or simply by not being detailed/vibrant enough to be noticeable, so their eyes aren't "unnervingly staring into your soul" the way these two are
