introducing sir alfred, an awkward rules-loving nutcracker, and postman basil, a sly troublemaking marionette. they don’t always get along, but basil thinks alfred is great fun (to mess with) and alfred won’t stop giving basil second chances for reasons he can’t properly explain.
[image ID: four sketch pages featuring sir alfred, a nutcracker doll with tan skin, a red coat with blue and yellow accents, epaulettes, a tall black hat, and a sword on his belt; and postman basil, an anthropomorphic cat marionette with black and white fur, blue eyes, a long navy blue coat and matching hat, a mail bag, a segmented black tail, and an x-shaped marionette controller he wears on his back with strings attached to various body parts.
page one has a sketch of alfred and basil from the knees up, where basil is tipping his hat with a smile and saying “mr. guard,” to which alfred replies “mr. postman,” with his arms behind his back and a serious expression.
page two has several sketches in blue of each of them, including basil from the back; with his controller held up and an envelope in his hand; and leaning on his hands with a sly smile and light blush; as well as alfred walking; frowning and blushing with his hat off; and crossing his arms while saying “you’re being ridiculous, basil.” at the bottom the two of them are shown very close together, basil leaning forward smiling and alfred leaning back in surprise, with basil holding alfred’s hat behind his back.
page three is a single sketch of basil dipping alfred backwards as if they were dancing and leaning in close to his face to say “my, my, sir alfred, you sure are light on your feet,” to which alfred annoyedly replies, “unhand me, you scoundrel!”
page four is a three panel comic. in panel one, basil and alfred perk up as someone out of frame says “sir alfred, come quick! someone’s stolen my favourite thimble!” in panel two, basil starts to sneak away behind alfred while clutching his mail bag with a suspicious smile and says “heh heh heh, well would you look at the time, be seeing you, freddie.” and is cut off. in panel three, alfred grabs the controller on basil’s back before he can get away and looks unimpressed as he says, “not so fast, cat.” end ID]

Exploring the Green Scene: Marijuana and Cannabis Products in Washington, D.C.
Certainly! Washington, D.C. has unique regulations and perspectives on marijuana and cannabis products, so let’s delve into some key aspects:
**Legal Status:** Marijuana in Washington, D.C. is legal for recreational use for adults aged 21 and older. Initiative 71, passed in 2014, allows individuals to possess up to 2 ounces of marijuana and cultivate up to 6 plants (only 3 mature) in their homes. However, the sale of marijuana is not fully legalized, meaning you cannot legally purchase it in D.C. dispensaries.
**Cannabis Products:** Despite the limitations on sales, there is a thriving market for cannabis-related products such as CBD oils, edibles, and other derivatives. CBD (cannabidiol) products are particularly popular due to their non-psychoactive nature and potential therapeutic benefits.
**Dispensaries and Access:** While D.C. allows home cultivation and possession, dispensaries operate under a unique model where they can provide cannabis as “gifts” or in exchange for donations for other items, such as artwork or clothing. This is due to the legal gray area regarding sales. As of now, there are a number of dispensaries operating in D.C. that navigate these legal nuances.
**Regulations and Challenges:** Navigating the legal landscape of marijuana in Washington, D.C. can be challenging due to the unique laws and ongoing debates about regulation. There are efforts to establish a framework for legal sales similar to other states where recreational use is fully legalized, but progress has been slow.
**Community and Culture:** The cannabis community in D.C. is vibrant and diverse, with events such as cannabis festivals, educational workshops, and advocacy groups playing a significant role. These events often focus on education about safe consumption, legal rights, and the latest developments in cannabis research.
**Conclusion:** Washington, D.C. presents an interesting case study in the evolving landscape of marijuana legalization. While residents have the freedom to possess and grow marijuana, the absence of a legal sales framework presents challenges and opportunities for the local cannabis community. As laws and attitudes continue to evolve, D.C. remains a focal point for discussions on the future of cannabis regulation in the United States.

Rawr?!—This is a light hearted flash sheet I drew up the first week in July while chilling at a BBQ. It’s only 8”x8” but I think it embodied the summer vibe that day. When it came down to adding color I went vibrant and saturated. Creating a darker green background helped frame everything.
