"Nico, um, he told me a while back that he used to have a crush on me when he was younger," Percy explains, looking sheepish, like he's not sure he's allowed to share this. "And this was when I was fourteen and he was like ten, so. Anyway, he keeps calling me a straight boy. It's not like, mean spirited or anything. I kind of think it's Nico's way of dealing with the fact that I wasn't interested in him the same way he was."
Leo blinks at this news. His mind unhelpfully supplies all of Leo's similarities to Percy, and it... doesn't make him feel any better about that situation.
"-like the fact that when we met, there was a four-year age gap between us," Percy is saying. "Now there's only a two-and-a-half-year difference, which I do not understand but even that is still-"
"I thought he and I were gonna be a thing back before the war ended," Leo blurts out.
It's Percy's turn to blink at him.
"Then I died and he got mad at me and bonded with Will over that anger and started dating him and organized a bunch of people to hit me and here we are," Leo says, like word vomit. He steeples his fingers under his chin to get himself to shut up.
"Jesus," Percy says, sitting up straight to stare at him. "This kid...that sucks."
Leo finds himself laughing and he repeats, "Yeah, it does."
"Uh, when did this even happen, between you two, I mean?" Percy asks.
"When Annabeth and you were in Tartarus and oh, no this just keeps getting worse!" Leo says, grabbing at his hair, still laughing despite himself. He drops back to stare at the bottom of the bunk above him.
"God, I need to get out of here," Leo tells the mattress above him as the weight of that statement settles into him.

So here is a continuetion of a previous post of mine aka my deaf/mute Apollo au, you can find the 1st part here and 3nd part here
Someone suggested that Apollo was mute in this au as well and definetly like that idea a lot and even if he wasn't mute in this au I would at the very least give him some sort of speach impediment of some sort aka making it a bigger hassle for Apollo to talk and not being able to hear the few words he can manage to get out through stammering would definetly make it ten times harder.
I don't have an physical copy of any of the trials of Apollo books yet so bare with me. But as far as I know the arrow of dodona commuicates with Apollo telepathically and I can definetly imagen Apollo cry tears of joy at being able to hear something other than his own thoughts again and the rest of the time the arrow of dodona might give very rough translations to what other people are saying when Apollo isn't reading their lips or the person isn't writing it down. It might also warn him of some dangers since our dear boy Apollo can't hear.
Also I want to start the story with Meg not knowing any sign lanauge and learning it throughtout the story. On that note Apollo might also cry tears of joy the moment he realizes someone understands sign lanauge.
Someone: Who’s your favourite Percy Jackson character?
Me: Obviously it’s Annabeth Chase
Someone: that’s such a basic answer.
Me: alright you want the real answer? The prophetic arrow in Trials of Apollo that only Lester can hear and only speaks Shakespeare. Look it up. That’s my favourite character.

‘I may have yelled a few choice words, but the sphere of silence censored them, so you will have to use your imagination’ (Lester Papadopoulos ,pg.267, ch.27, Trails of Apollo the Tyrants Tomb)
All the series combined, (pjo, hoo, toa) I think Trials of Apollo might be my favorite. I’ve said Heroes of Olympus for a while, but after finishing toa, I was actually really sad in a way that I wasn’t with the other series. This is my reasoning: *TOA SPOILERS AHEAD*
Lester/Apollo’s narration and character development was top notch. In The Hidden Oracle, at first I thought the book series was gonna be full of arrogance and whining. Oh, how it was the complete opposite. He went through stuff that no other god will ever go through. Pain, and grief. The empty feeling of not being yourself anymore. And he finally realized how the gods are, how clueless they have been about mortals and demigods. Everything that happened in toa was just building up to the perfect Apollo, the Apollo that’s not in fact perfect.
The characters. Like, these characters are so good? First of all, they are so fleshed out. Meg McCaffrey, who saw her own father dead and got mentally abused by the emperor who killed him. “The Beast,” was just himself, but Meg was too scared of him to stand up for herself. And like, how is an arrow kind of making me empathize with it? The arrow of Dodona was supposedly the worst piece of wood in the forest, and so Lester needed to prove the others wrong, and I think he did. Especially in that final battle against Python.
The amount of different stories and adventures. Obviously you would have sooo many adventures, because you need to get a different oracle in each one! In every single one, we’re introduced to a new character and new goal. It doesn’t really start in the first one, as it’s just introducing the main characters. In the second one, it’s Emmie, Jo, Calypso, and Leo. In the third one, it’s Piper, Jason, and Grover. In the fourth one, it’s Lavinia, Reyna, Hazel, and Frank (a lot of characters from SoN). In the last one, it’s just a lot of chb campers. Will, Nico, the Troglodytes, and more. See what I mean? There are so many different stories in just one series.
And lastly, how powerful it is. The fact that it could make me cry is impressive, because I don’t cry at much (book and movie wise). Jason’s death, Lester’s misery, Meg’s abuse, and so much more. It’s just so sad but powerful at the same time.
If you prefer a different series, (PJO, HOO, TOA) then tell me why!
Percytober Day 6 - Arrow of Dodona 🏹 Arrow that only speaks Shakespearean and a god turned mortal is a duo I never knew I needed but I love them so much.💚
