I had a vivid dream that paul also made a flop family-friendly sitcom in the 90’s. it starred him as himself again, and the plot was that he ate a cursed gumball that de-ages him back into a 12 year old, but only sometimes and at completely random intervals, so he has to balance going to school all over again with also being an aging rock star. everyone thinks the young version of him is paul’s secret son that he’s trying to hide the existence of, including ringo who takes pity on this abandoned child and tries to help raise him properly. hijinks ensue in paul’s attempts to prevent people from finding out what’s actually going on

i do wanna emphasize they're ur guys and u should play toys with them however u want!! i find the narratives for ur characters so interesting and i love any tidbit i can get. so while 'oh how would this character deal with relationship stuff' is ofc interesting (im admittedly a romance enjoyer), it's far from the main thing for me when it comes to what i enjoy seeing from ur work. u probably don't need this, i don't wanna come across as patronizing lol, but i was reading u talking abt how u get so many romance asks and feel bad that it's not something u wanna prioritize, and i wanted to make sure u know that there's absolutely 100% an audience for like. the stuff that's messy/unpleasant/complicated/tied more closely to their narrative arc
Aw thank you, this is a kind message.
I can reach across the aisle to romance enjoyers like your fine self - it is interesting to think about how something like that could impact a character, and how they might conduct themselves. Ambroys, for instance, is a serial monogamist and I've had a fun time coming up with various past relationships for him to fill out his punch-card of bad decisions (not that I've shared much of them yet, ha). So I do get the appeal and I can have BIG THOUGHTS about it (obviously, from the walls of text I produce at the slightest provocation). BUT yes - messy/unpleasant/complicated is what usually interests me with characters and their narratives, not often the fluffy stuff. I'm happy that what I crank out in that vein can interest other people too!

The character who’s a master tactician who’s renowned for his insights for winning battles for his side of the war, but instead of relying on chess metaphors to describe what he’s doing, he exclusively uses Candy Crush.
“Don’t be lured in by the possibility of setting up a double-color bomb combo, we don’t have enough moves left to do that, but we can guarantee victory and destroy the final jelly if we just make a normal 3-candy match right here.”
“This region of chocolate is dangerous and may grow and infect the wrapped candy tile next to it on the next move. Is it worth delaying the problem for a turn to set up a combo on the other side of the grid?”
“We won the last level and now have the advantage of free bonus candy helping us this level; we need to be deliberate and take care that we don’t squander the opportunity to build momentum and earn more advantages on future levels.”
“Noooo! I didn’t want those power-ups to get triggered yet! Yes, it caused a lot of destruction, but that move also destroyed what I was setting up and introduced a lot of randomly colored candies to the grid I wasn’t accounting for!”
“Stay focused! This whole point of this level is to drop the fruit to the bottom and you won’t be able to access the fruit until you’ve destroyed all the keys. Don’t waste your moves on anything that will not get you closer to that objective.”
