it's based off a batfam comment I saw that mentioned in the early comics Bruce knew about Talia's pregnancy and was ecstatic to be a father. So much so that Talia feared he'd give up being Batman for it, so when she gave birth she put the baby (Damian) on a doorstep and (seemingly) told Bruce that the baby was stillborn.

I saw it, thought "mm, tasty!" and thought what if that baby was Danny instead of Damian? By default I was thinking of making him a few years older, however, it works just as well with demon twins. I need to think it over. Meet Daniel Brown! 14 year old foster kid whose been with the Fentons for the last two years! He has SO many issues haha. hah. lmfao even.

Danny's theme song is literally just "Good Kid" from the Percy Jackson musical, to sum him up.

headcanon that scorpius was a sick child and was in and out of hospital constantly, perhaps related to astoria's blood curse but not directly. his immune system isnt very strong, and everytime he gets sick they're terrified that it's the blood curse but also whatever else it could be, because it's always so sudden and so intense and they call healers over to the house who recommend this delirious feverish 4 year old is hospitalised immediately, and you'd think it'd get easier to some extent because they'd be used to it, but everytime they feel like this is it, this is the time he'll walk in to the hospital and not walk out again

I am dubiously alive! I am potentially maybe a little bit returning to tumblr, because I have no fandom/language friends irl and it's actually quite exhausting!

what have I been doing?

interpreted in a martial arts academy in china. it did not end well :( and I spent the next six months processing, doing no chinese and generally feeling despondent

did some teaching in thailand with monks

went to india and saw my friend, got three yoga teaching qualifications, my partner flew over and we went to the himalayas together for a month

wrote 250k on my novel (too. long)

moved back to the uk

now I'm living with my partner very happily and I have started a new job teaching english! in my free time I work on my Book!

I have no idea who is still around of the 2020 quarantine langblr community, but if you are, say hi! I may pop in and out.

(re. sustainability and being online as someone who is fairly addicted to the internet - I am asking my partner to help by setting a daily timer, the password of which I do not know. Engineering updates

Noticed while skimming episodes the other day some changes in Main Engineering during the first couple of seasons that I hadn't noticed before (or just forgotten about).

Specifically, I'm going to focus on the back end of Engineering, where the Master Systems Display is located:

Now that area doesn't show up in Encounter at Farpoint, the couple of shots in engineering are centered around the warp core and the catwalk surrounding it (the open elevator connecting the two gets a lot of use in there).

Hot elevator action!

The MSD appears in the next episode The Naked Now but it's all alone.

Nothing more than a repurposed wide corridor where we stuck a giant screen, and it's green (it will stay green for the first two seasons). There's also no isolinear stacks underneath the MSD, and the hallways panels are missing some LCARS. Oh and we don't have our pool table MSD table.

The next time we see engineering from this angle is The Last Outpost.

A lot of progress for sure, but it's not right. The LCARS panels have been added to the bulkhead and the isolinear stacks are now underneath the display. The MSD Table, itself recycled from Star Trek 4, hasn't fully undergone the TNG conversion and looks out of place.

And now, a brief interlude to Where No One Has Gone Before:

They're GREEN. I had not...it had not clicked with me before (at least not consciously) that the lighting panels were green for the episode. I don't know if they were still tweaking the look or decided it should be green bc of Kosinski's so-called upgrades but in any case it's green and distracting now that I see it.

By the time we reach 11001001 the table looks right (hard to tell from this angle but looks like the entire surface is reflective now).

Another quick detour, this time to Home Soil, where the MSD also acts as a viewscreen:

also when you put chairs there it really emphasizes how those controls look like navigation (you can control the ship from Engineering I guess you could set it up that way).

The rest of the season won't see any further changes. Season 2, starting with Where Silence Has Lease the lighting elements around the MSD will have been updated to the ones that will remain throughout the rest of the series

The lighting might have changed between Where Silence Has Lease and Q-Who or just might be colour processing.

Finally, season 3 brings us the updated MSD with more detailed okudagrams on it

There might be rubber duck in there.

It will remain mostly unchanged for the rest of the series, except at some point someone slapped a label on the bottom left.

A final, minor, update was brought to the MSD where the label was removed and two lines were added to the pedestal for Star Trek: Generations.

(similarly to how the runabouts had a bunch of random lines that looked like electrical tape to make the sets pop).

Shen Yuan shixiong AU - Part 10

Upon arrival, the group visits Old Master Chen to gather some information. Knowing his shixiong’s impatience with small talk, Ming Fan eventually takes over, claiming his senior needs time to prepare for the mission. Fortunately, Shen Yuan inherited his shizun's attitude when dealing with outsiders and Old Master Chen respectfully lets him go.

Later, as the sky starts to get darker, Ning Yingying asks Shen Yuan permission to go out in town. She invites him to go with her, but Shen Yuan gently refuses, saying he truly needs to gather more information to deal with the problem in town. He then suggests to bring Luo Binghe with her instead, planning to help his shidi capture his shimei’s heart while he's at it. Thinking his shixiong is trusting him with Ning Yingying’s safety, Luo Binghe lets himself be dragged out.

Later, as Ming Fan summarizes what they learned, Luo Binghe interrupts them by barging in and saying Ning Yingying has disappeared. Ming Fan’s face goes through several different shades before settling on a dark shade of barely contained anger. “Luo Binghe! You-!” Shen Yuan raises his hand to stop him. He proceeds to quickly instruct him to ask Old Master Chen for assistance and prepare their shidis to search the town. Ming Fan clicks his tongue, then exits the room in large strides, “accidentally” kicking Luo Binghe on his way out.

“Don’t take it personally, Binghe. He’s just worried.” Shen Yuan then sees his upset expression and gently pats the dust off his clothes while trying to come up with something reassuring to say. As a transmigrator, he knows that this isn’t Luo Binghe’s fault at all. Ning Yingying is just that kind of character. Her whole personality is to be cute and innocent, be kidnapped, be saved by the protagonist, then rinse and repeat. In short, it was just another typical Tuesday for Ning Yingying. "We’ll find her and bring her back. Alright?” Luo Binghe, ashamed of failing the one mission his shixiong gave him and losing his shijie, refuses to meet the latter’s eyes and simply nods with a pitiful expression. Shen Yuan pats his head comfortingly.

Ming Fan works quickly and the other disciples are already awaiting orders when Shen Yuan comes out. He gives them clear and concise instructions, separating the group into small teams, telling them to watch each other’s back and alert him immediately if they find anything.As soon as he’s done giving orders, everyone rushes out, knowing that their shimei’s life might be in danger. Shen Yuan turns to his shidi. “Alright. Binghe, take shixiong to the place where your shijie vanished.”
